dragon Jazz and Damian playing hide and seek. Damian is convinced that they're practicing stealth and tracking.
(Couldn’t tell if both Jazz and Damian were dragons, or if only Jazz was a dragon, but I decided to use the former idea)
Damian trekked into the woods, head lifted to sniff at the air. He growled when all he caught was the scent of grass and soil. Nothing with Jazz’s scent.
He continued sniffing the air before finally lowering his head to sniff at the ground, walking as he tried to track where Jazz was. He was determined to find her and prove that he was a superior tracker!
However, his hopes were quickly dashed as time passed. Eventually, as the sun was starting to dip just a tad in the sky, Damian growled and finally shouted aloud with a growl, “I give up! Show yourself!”
A dark shadow formed above him before the ground shook as Jazz landed with a mighty flap of her wings. Damian growled, secretly admiring how majestic she looked as she approached, but he was also extremely indignant as he couldn’t help hopping up and down and shouting. “You must’ve cheated! How were you hidden for so long?!”
Jazz snickered and nudged him with her snout. Even one of her fangs was as large as his entire body. If she wanted, she could’ve snapped him up with a single bite.
Damian swore that when he got older, he’d grow just as big as her!
“You need to use everything you have,” Jazz said, nudging him again with her snout. She seemed to have a strange fixation on making him roll over. When Damian had asked Stephanie, Stephanie had only laughed in his face about how cute he was. He bit her for that comment, but he was still very confused.
Jazz was too weird!
Damian growled at her and Jazz continued, as she made him roll over on his back again, “You have wings and claws. Use them to climb trees to get a higher vantage. You could also ask the forest animals for help. Or try to trick me into coming towards you instead.”
At the last suggestion, Damian frowned. “But now it won’t work since you told me.”
Jazz chuckled again. “I’ll come, even if it might be a trap.” Her tone was quite warm.
Damian squirmed underneath her snout again. Too weird! Too sentimental! Too embarrassing! He released a puff of smoke and Jazz made him roll again.
In an effort to distract her, he moved away from her snout and pointed out, “And why should I have to climb trees? You’re too big to hide up there!”
Jazz snorted. “Am I?”
Damian looked her up and down judgmentally.
In what world would a dragon of her size be able to hide in trees?
Jazz squished him underneath her claws lightly, only a tiny amount of pressure to press him to the ground as she huffed. “How rude.”
Damian growled and turned in her grip to bite down on her scales. His tiny fangs did no damage, but he was too irritated to care. “My turn! I want to hide now! I bet I can be hidden longer than you!”
Jazz released him and rolled him back over to his stomach, where he got up and shook himself off. “Fine. I’ll give you five minutes to hide before I find you. Ready?” He bristled and spread his wings, ready to fly. “Go!”
And then he raced off, heart pounding as he was determined to show her that he could be a good hider! Hmph! He’d show her!

I'm starting to realize I got a "big head / little body" issue when it comes to drawing 💀 i need to start learning how to even those out at some point
would you be shocked to know this drawing is actually the size of TWO hands? it looks so tiny but it took up half a page on my 9x12in sketchbook. so... AHAAAHHH... it's a bit of a big one :3c
anyways this drawing pissed me off because there was so many weird errors i had to fix and some i COULDN'T fix still... but it's okay I'm happy with the outcome despite my errors — which is all that matters !

Zatanna the meowscarada is so cute! Can she show her flower trick?
By the way, is her tail longer than normal meowscarada? I think her tail is different than other meowscarada or it's just my imagination
Tumblr media
"Zatanna used Flower Trick! Its a critical hit!" I am not much of an animator but I had an idea and I ran with it. I know I will never have the time or patience to make this into a full on animation but the idea is still very cool. Ngl when I first saw the animation for Flower Trick, thats what solidified my love for Meowscarada :3

And yes, Zatanna's tail is a longer than normal Meowscarada. 😏 Its also two toned

Hello! Would you be willing to share some pictures of your yarn stash sometime, please? And then of course if you wanted to ramble about what you like about the yarn you choose, that would also be nifty 😄
Hi! Here's the latest nice looking pic I have of it from this post that doesn't show up readily in the search for some reason
Tumblr media
I've since slightly rearranged my room in a way that makes it difficult to take a full picture of the whole thing, plus the stash itself has gotten bigger and more disorganized, so I probably won't take a newer pic any time soon. It's one of those "I gotta do this before I can do that, and before I do that I have to do this, and before this I have to do this and-" >_<"
And about what I like about the yarn I choose: mostly the colors lol. I really like just having a bunch of different colors of medium worsted 4, but there's some variation in what that size actually means, so I would say I'm partial to specifically about the width of Red Heart super saver yarn because that's what I have most of. Well, at one point at least. I'm not sure if I have more of that brand or the Joann brand (Big Twist) at this point. Also did you know apparently Joann filed for bankruptcy again and might shut down for real this time? :c Which means I would have to find yarn elsewhere. But I probably won't be getting more yarn soon because I have. A lot. Like easily twice as much as shown in the picture at least.

would it be strange if i reclaimed psychopath if i was armchair diagnosed as a kid? + i do have aspd traits but not particularly in a situation where i can get a psych eval
Being armchair diagnosed, especially as a child, is not enough to know if you have ASPD. We’re perfectly cool with self-diagnosis here, but it needs to be well researched. One thing you’ll find in the process of that research is why that “as a child” is a problem. ASPD cannot be diagnosed as a child for a reason: because under the age of 18 the traits are not able to be differentiated between normal stressed teenage behavior and in children younger than that, there is a high potential they will not go on to develop ASPD despite having traits of it.
There is quite a high threshold of things that need to go awry in neurological development for someone to end up with a trauma based personality disorder. ASPD in particular comes with a strong potential to avoid the traits becoming the PD if a child or honestly even a teenager is introduced to the support system they need and given reason to trust it.
And even as an adult, you can have some traits without having the disorder. I would definitely do some research, starting with but not exclusively reading the current DSM (DSM V-TR) entry on ASPD, and not just what’s posted in my bio, that’s the criteria but none of the important surrounding information in the ASPD section. That’ll go over a lot of info, and from there you wanna go through both scholarly stuff (articles & research papers - many of which will be stigmatized but it’s important to read because somewhere in there they hide some good info), and anecdotal stuff like this blog but not just this blog. Take in as much information as you can, learn about what it is and what it isn’t, and especially learn about the things that are similar to ASPD but are not ASPD. There are other disorders that look similar, but have key differences.
I suggest all this because unlike some disorders that are either easy to self diagnose (panic disorder - the main thing you need to know is if you have panic attacks, and if you have panic attacks about the fear of having a panic attack) or at least much more straightforward than self diagnosing a personality disorder. PDs are in fact some of the most complicated disorders to categorize and diagnose - even professionally - because when something is affecting every facet of someone’s personality, it’s not going to be easy to figure out what’s a symptom vs what’s situational. They usually require a long rapport with the diagnosing professional because they have to be persistent and consistent across time and situations. That means that it’s not something you can look into quickly and decide, you’ll need to keep watching for the symptoms once you know them and see if you are responding that way across the board or if something is triggering that response in only certain situations.
I can’t stop you from using that term, but I can say that being armchair diagnosed as a child is not a good way to figure out if you have something as complicated as a personality disorder. Honestly, a big reason that I say to people that they need to look at other anecdotal sources from other places too is because someone I’m very close with who has known me for over 10 years at this point and lives with me has BPD and thought I did too, like was 100% certain. In fact they directly thought I had the hyper-empathy of BPD - and so did my ex who knew me for much less time but also has BPD. Even having the disorder yourself and knowing someone for a long time doesn’t mean you can accurately armchair diagnose them. Like I said, these are complicated to diagnose.
For reference, it took me at least a year of fairly constant research (bc I have mental health as a special interest, I was researching something about ASPD or its differential diagnoses for at least a couple hours per week at that time), probably longer, to feel secure self diagnosing with ASPD. While it doesn’t need to necessarily take that long, it does take some effort to understand a disorder like this.

Does Maude keep in contact with the human side of their family?
This is an interesting one; no, because she has no human family side. She was created using a human as a base LOL.
tldr, kind of horrific, the feathered used an actual human as a base for DNA, turning them into an egg them boom: here comes Maude. No she isn't a reincarnation, reborn, etc the person was just a blue print.

Thank you for being open abt your age! i, too, am a physician in my 30s and still working on my application for residency program (not even started on one yet). I always feel so hopeless and kind of embarrassed about my age (almost all of my colleagues are way younger than me) but then i saw your post :)
I hope you have a good day because you certainly made mine better
You're welcome!
I started studying medicine late by UK standards - after a prior degree, and I retrained from being a hospital medical doctor into GP, so for me, finishing training has been a long process even though I was full time for all of that (it hurts the mental health, I don't really recommend full time hospital training TBH). I also took a couple of years out along the way to try different specialities as well as work on applications because it was what I needed to do at the time due to when I was applying.
Funnily enough, along this winding path I have worked under colleagues who used to be in the same year of training as me, and that feels a little weird. Because you realise you haven't progressed nearly as much as some people even though you've been working pretty damn hard. Some people absolutely zoom through training the fastest they possibly can, but many of us need to take our time. And that's OK.
I did feel in limbo for a little while towards the end of my CMT training as the exams weren't happening (covid) and you can't progress without exams, so they offered to let me continue my training for at least a year (likely two) to get those exams and slot into the new IMT system. I just no longer wanted to be in any of those hospital specialties badly enough to put up with the system as it was, and saw a life for myself in GP with perhaps special interests in certain things. Over time your priorities can change and honestly it can be tiring to do this thing for years.
Life takes us all on different paths. I might have felt a bit old in med school but maybe 1/3 of our year was graduates so it was a common experience. When I was in med school we had people in their 40s in our class - people with grown kids and entire previous lives. And medicine is richer if the people I'm it are more varied or have different life experiences.
Life happens, we can't put it off and wanting to be young forever doesn't actually freeze us at age 25. I'm not sure I'd even WANT to be 25 forever - I like the growth I've had since then. Society REALLY obsesses over youth, but there's nothing magical about being under 25 or under 30.
You just have to do things along the way and fill your life with the things and people you enjoy. The time will pass far faster than we think.

I love how we keep giving Twig and Ark more kids
Woe children be upon thee, breaketh thine cycle of suffering and be bestowed the title of 'mom' and 'dad'
The fact that I didn't even plan to give them children in the first place is hilarious to me after they’ve become parents to 3+ kids! Twig's whole complex about being a mom, paired with Ark not liking kids very much, made me struggle to envision them as parents. Turns out all it took was a handful of anons to convince me as a writer and make them realize they love their family and would die for their children.

How did you figure out you were autistic? I know this is gonna sound ignorant because I am ignorant but from my very limited interactions with those on the spectrum you act pretty differently. You are heavily sarcastic and seem to understand when someone is joking in your asks versus not even over text. Idk. I know there's like levels and stuff but you seem pretty socially aware and funnier than most so now I'm just like what makes you different from a neurotypical? I tried googling about autism and it seems a lot of high functioning people have like sensory issues and are picky eaters but like, is that it ? Just curious
I am not self dx so I never "figured it out", I was diagnosed aspergers (back when that was the dx for high functioning tism) when I was 6, my mom took me to a psychiatrist. at that time I was selectively mute-ppl at school thought I was incapable of speech bc between ages 4 to 9 didnt talk at all except at home to family. I had frequent meltdowns due to emotional regulation problems and also cuz of severe sensory issues (sound, the feel of clothing which led me to wear the same outfit every day for years, temperature). Even when I started talking a little more at school I was TERRIBLE socially. I was made fun of constantly & didn't get what i was doing wrong but they always thought I was weird & they thought it was funny that I didn't understand that I was being made fun of until they started laughing & even then i didnt get what i was doing wrong. It didnt help that i was 5'9 and 140 pounds by age 9 I was very aware I stood out a lot both physically & behaviorally
So yeah like most kids on the spectrum I was bullied relentlessly for the childhood years due to my social ineptitude and general awkwardness & it continued until I managed to group in w/ the other unpopular "weird" girls with bad social skills in junior high. Still friends with some of them. So i wasnt as much of a target then tho I was still gossiped about, ppl started a rumor that I never bathed due to my habit of wearing the same thing every day (I had multiple versions of that outfit but not as if they would know). Special interests were a huge thing too obv. I read probably 8 hrs a day mostly books related to space or when I was younger dolphins.
But anyways, bc of my experiences when I was younger I knew I had to learn to assimilate, or mask as I later learned it was called. I studied that shit like it was my PhD. I learned how to talk enough (but not too much!) I learned how to make eye contact (but not too much!!), learned how to be playful but not be rude, learned to run to a bathroom before having a meltdown in public, learned to buy different clothes out of similar material, to not be seen eating the same exact food every day for months. Learned how to not infodump about an interest unless I knew the person cared about it. I had learned most of this well enough by halfway through high school to stop being seen as a total freak, & by adulthood I was not only not BAD at socializing but actually GOOD at it, tho it still was (and is) exhausting & requires a lot of recovery time alone.
Anyways tldr basically my point is the person you perceive now was constructed out of necessity to avoid being a pariah forever which is what I knew would happen if I didnt change. I was an autistic kid & now I'm an adult who very easily passes as allistic. I've been doing it so long that most of it doesn't take much effort anymore. I've always been good at learning things. sarcasm and humor can be learned & I've been at this awhile needless to say

Fun fact - it was lead by a Jigglypuff, he knows the job, even if he just a puff-ball like, haha... And we have the science, which is a bit harder than my subjects, and it was lead by a Joltik.
