Can you give us some Human Lore related to the Great Seven? As you mentioned how the Queen of Hearts is very strict about Humans being protected, even making a bunch of rules to protect them (So no doubt if Reader gets bullied while Riddles’ around he’ll instantly collar the perpetrators)

I’m curious as to see if there are any myths about how the other Great Seven treat or view Humans

This AU has me in a chokehold and I can’t wait for more parts! I love every part and your art of the characters is amazing!

I kinda wrote a little idea for the Righteous Judge and how he felt about Humans (You can ignore or change it if you want! Since this IS your AU)

The Righteous Judge was known for being fair towards Humans as he believed they should be treated equally, as he’d saw how Humans could not only adapt, but even help Monsters settle their differences, and they could do it all without magic

As such he made laws to protect Humans as he thought highly of Humanity being the key to improve civilization, as while they didn’t have any magic, their bonds with each other and other Monsters helped accomplish any task or threat thrown at them

He believed Humans were pure because they weren’t born with the savage instinct like many Monsters have, as he saw Humans more likely to show compassion, mercy, kindness and empathy, unlike Monsters who are more prone to use violence, aggression and pure power to get what they want

Legend has it the Righteous Judge wept in sorrow when Humanity went Extinct, as he believed Humanity could’ve helped Monsters learn how to better themselves

It’s also believed that the Righteous Judge’s son was a Human, which could explain why he was so devoted to defend and help Humans

Maybe because of this Fleur City is known for their rituals, celebrations and festivals to honor the legacy Humans left behind, to honor how the Righteous Judge strived so hard to help Humans

Absolutely agree for the Righteous Judge and this would no doubt translate to Rollo's own infatuation and obsession with this little Human. I would bet that if Human MC from the AU visited Fleur city during the Topsy Turvey Day, they would be automatically crowned and honored in the festival as even the Righteous Judge loved the Humans he wept so heavily for.

The Queen of Hearts was known for her love of Humans and had several Human pets that she cherished deeply. She was known to only pardon her Humans from being beheaded as they were such an endearing little species and she couldn't stay angry with her Humans for long. There are no less than 50 rules regarding the proper treatment of humans as The Queen wanted to ensure her beloved pets were kept safe no matter what. All Humans were declared as a protected species in the Queendom of Roses, and harming or abusing one was punishable by death. These laws are still in place despite Humans being extinct for centuries just in the event that a Human could possibly still be alive somewhere.

The King of Beasts doesn't have any mention of humans in any of his stories, hence why many beast men were content to treat Humans as cattle and regarded humans as a delicacy to feast upon. Over the years as Humans became more and more endangered, the Black market for Humans became more than a little cut-throat. Humans were food for so long, that when they were declared extinct, literal riots broke out and what small remaining meat sold for millions. Knock off meat was popular for a while, and Sunset Savana (and various other locations with high beastman populations) admitted to being somewhat at fault for the rapid extinction of Humans. Now there is a global ban on the buying, selling, or trading of Human artifacts/remains.

The Sea Witch's story is deeply intertwined with the presence of Humans, as it was a Human the princess wished to see and marry, leading to her making a deal with the Sea Witch. Many merfolk regard Humans as the peak standard of beauty as a result of this story and see Sirens as merfolk who have been blessed with Human blood. Since sirens look very close to Humans- minus their ever present gills and abnormal aquatic forms- sirens are believed to be the step between merfolk and Humans. Many Human-like monsters are treated with the same kind of awe by merfolk for being so close to a Human in form.

The Sorcerer of the Sands had many tricks and was very knowledgeable, so of course he knew about humans in great detail. Some stories even claim that the Sorcerer sought the council of Humans for their unusual ability to resolve conflict in warring species. Despite their lack of Magic, humans were admirable enough to be in the council of the Sorcerer and were considered to be quite wise for their continued persistence among stronger species.

The Fairest Queen- the most beautiful of all and a wickedly powerful Harpy in her own right- liked the featherless bipeds known as Humans. Though they were clumsy and sometimes pig-faced, she viewed their ambition and tenacity in high regard. Such creatures that held on so tightly to their place in the world despite the other species beating them back certainly earned the respect of the Fairest Queen.

The Thorn Fairy was known for her many boons granted to Human kind. As Humans did not posses magic, they needed all the aid they could get and the Thorn Fairy was all too eager to aid. It is said that any Human the Thorn Fairy blessed became a member of her court, if not in title than in spirit, as the Thorn fairy adored the ignoble little species despite their fragility and flaws. Though she is the spirit of nobility and power, the Thorn Fairy herself smiled kindly upon her little Humans and offered aid to them when she could.

Stolitz Communication Styles

I feel like I need to talk about this.

Stolas’ high education and verbal gymnastics, versus Blitzø’s lack of equivalent education, dyslexia, and difficulty expressing emotions, especially through words. Because it plays a huge part in why they haven’t been, and still aren’t, communicating effectively. Also both of them are neurodivergent as fuck and communication is a bitch for us anyway.

Specifically, this is a dive into that different classes/mindsets dynamic, leading up to a look at that text conversation at the end of Western Energy, and how it leads into their possible growth.

From the very start of the series, Blitzø shows that he has difficulty with writing/spelling and prefers verbal communication. (Even if we look outside the instagrams, which are not technically canon.) The first episode has the billboard that was entirely speech-to-text and not proofread, (he’s too uncomfortable writing that big of a message out, and he thought it was easier to just say it, and was thus not equipped to proofread or edit it, as that would mean he was capable of knowing how to write it out correctly in the first place), his text messages and notes are generally short and often full of typos and phonetic spelling, and his whiteboard is usually covered in doodles and small attempts at writing that varies in levels of spelling prowess. He uses pictographs to help in proving his point or explaining his thought process. He has trouble expressing himself verbally, as his true feelings are expressed through actions, but his direct, vulgar, and often angry or insensitive wording and tone make it difficult for most people to see past this to his actual true feelings, (not to mention he often lies to others and to himself about those anyway). Issues with tone and blunt speech are a big thing with neurodivergent people, autistic and ADHD people especially, of which I think Blitzø is both. Stan an AuDHD king.

Stolas is rich, highly educated, and spent much of his life, especially early on, reading books instead of socializing. His house basically doubles as a library. He said himself that he “loves words”, and got excited about reading legal documents. He uses flowery, posh language and carefully talks around other people using this skill. His emotionally abusive past, both with his father and with Stella, make him a careful people-pleaser, and so he’s constantly giving others the upper hand in a conversation, more give than take, in attempts to not anger or have his intentions misunderstood and then incite said anger. A common thing in both abuse victims and neurodivergent people, especially autistic people, which Stolas clearly is. He does also have issues with tone and knowing when he should and shouldn’t say certain things, and he can often misunderstand others’ points and questions, and then answers or responds too bluntly or literally. Hashtag Just Autism Things.

Blitzø is an imp, the lowest class alongside hellhounds, and was raised in a circus. He clearly did not grow up wealthy in any respect (as his father resorted to selling his son and stealing from the fucking Ars Goetia so quickly, though that could also be attributed to just being living trash), nor is he particularly affluent now, as his small apartment has literally one bedroom, for Loona, and he sleeps on the couch. He outright says he can’t afford art classes. He hasn’t had the same level of educational opportunities as Stolas. On top of that, he’s also dyslexic, based on how, when he does write, it’s either written phonetically, as he would say the word, or he gets letters flipped around. He can write coherently, he’s not illiterate, but usually only when he tries really hard. He mixes capitals and lowercase in the same word sometimes. He’s even worse at texting than he is at writing by hand, with many typos, and resorting to text-speak abbreviations and emojis to lessen the amount of time he has to take trying to type shit out, and, again, doesn’t proofread.

Taking all of this into account, Blitzø is not going to understand a lot of what Stolas says when he uses larger words and talks around a point, especially since, unlike Stolas most of the time, Blitzø is very direct and uncensored when he talks (as in, no brain-to-mouth filter, but also he uses vulgarity in place of more eloquent speech), and when he is trying to say things with actual forethought, he ends up stuttering and has trouble finding the right words (ADHD brain fail ftw), and then gets angry at himself, and occasionally takes it out on others too (poor Moxxie). Stolas tries to talk around the point and backtracks his own words even more in stressful or emotional situations, giving more ground to the other, and this difference in stress response plays a part in their misunderstanding and inability to see from the other’s perspective.

In the first episode, during Stolas’ inopportune phone call, Blitzø thinks he’s being insulted when Stolas uses the word “grimoire,” because he doesn’t know it and always jumps to this conclusion, then has to get Stolas to stop using flowery language to talk around the point by telling him to “stop using your fancy ass rich people talk,” and Stolas has to change the way he’s been speaking to be more direct and clear. (He doesn’t retain this information for later, sadly).

All of this, to talk about the post-Ozzie’s text conversations. We know several things now:

1) Blitzø is not good with spelling and is more comfortable using pictographs to make his point, which you can’t do in a text. He’s also uncomfortable with honest emotional expression and has problems with tone.

2) Stolas uses overly flowery and complicated language to express himself, leading to paragraphs of talking around the main point in an attempt to explain his meaning, often to the extent that it’s extremely unclear what the point is that he’s actually trying to get to. This gets worse when he’s trying too hard to express himself or is thinking too much about the other person’s response.

3) They both have little experience with conversation of an emotional nature that’s not coming with some sort of protective front (Stolas’ open-ended people-pleasing statements, Blitzø’s use of false anger and vulgarity to push people away), so when they do try to say something without the mask, the other is unequipped for the change and misunderstands the intentions, especially when it’s through text.

Blitzø is uncomfortable with writing and especially with texting, and so says very little, using short abbreviated text-speak and emojis to express himself, like he would with his drawings. Stolas overexplains and writes paragraphs of vague statements and loquaciousness in an attempt to get a point across. These are very different approaches to the situation, and from the other’s perspective they come across differently than they intend, due to the conflicting communication styles.

So.

In the text conversations we see in Western Energy, Blitzø says very little, and doesn’t initiates the conversation. Stolas sends walls of text, overexplaining and going back and forth on his intent and the purpose of the text.

Now, we know that Stolas is trying to give Blitzø space and options, and clearly cares a lot about his feelings, and is going out of his way to make sure he’s comfortable with the situation. In doing so, he gives him several outs, minimizes the entire experience at Ozzie’s at his own expense (and therefore Blitzø’s, but he doesn’t understand that yet), and pokes at the idea of talking emotionally far too soon for Blitzø, who is freshly re-traumatizing himself from said experience at Ozzie’s.

Stolas, from his own perspective, is giving so much and getting very little in return (a common theme in his life). He would see this lack of reciprocity in communication as lack of interest or being upset. A common thing irl, it’s easy to read a “K” after a long emotional message as a negative or indifferent response, regardless of the other party’s true feelings. (Which is possibly why a lot of people get upset on Stolas’ behalf in this moment, thinking Blitzø doesn’t care as much about Stolas as Stolas does him. It’s a common thing to experience. It’s not true, though.)

Meanwhile, Blitzø already hates writing, is bad at expressing himself in general, and reads into everything as negative. He thinks that when someone says something he doesn’t fully understand that they’re insulting him or making fun of him, or he misunderstands the intention and wording to be an insult (tonal and indirect or vague speech issues), like with that first phone call with Stolas, the “that’s what she said” joke Loona made, and Crimson’s mention of hearing things about him. He has a lifetime of evidence to back up this thought process. He is constantly demeaned and insulted by larger Hell society, and was treated as unworthy and lesser since childhood. He also just fucking hates himself and blames himself for everything. He’s not gonna suddenly gush his feelings, especially over text. He’s also gonna read into others’ words extremely negatively, until the true meaning is explicitly explained to him. Which isn’t very likely in a text conversation, when he’s not going to ask for proper clarification and the other party can’t tell that he’s misconstruing the intention and so doesn’t know they need to explain more anyway.

So, he isn’t going to initiate a text conversation unless it’s for a serious reason. He clearly doesn’t use it as a method of conversation as much as a quick way to get in touch with other people and exchange information (ex- his seemingly “impossible to misunderstand” text to Loopty in C.H.E.R.U.B. & his conversation about the portal with Millie in Seeing Stars). In Blitzø’s eyes, Stolas says "hey this is/isn’t happening", and he says "ok got the info" and he moves on from there. Information exchange. Then Stolas starts trying too hard, after Ozzie’s, to take his feelings into account without fully understanding Blitzø’s feelings to begin with, and starts backtracking and talking around the point again. He already got Blitzø’s reply, but then backtracks, which doesn’t give Blitzø the direct information he needs, leading to him misunderstand the proffered options as a dismissal instead of a clear confirmation with the option for him to refuse. Blitzø already is going to have issues reading/fully understanding the long wordy messages Stolas sends, he isn’t going to understand the nuance that Stolas’ specific phrasing is trying to say, and is going to see a “but you don’t have to/only if you want” attempt at giving him autonomy and boundaries, as a “don’t/I don’t want you to” full negation.

Stolas is also downplaying their experience at Ozzie’s, which is not only negating his own traumatic experiences with being shamed and insulted (not the healthiest mindset), but also minimizes Blitzø’s feelings and experience then as a result. Blitzø is going to see this as confirmation that it wasn’t as important/emotionally painful to Stolas as it was to Blitzø. Stolas making light of a situation that started a breakdown for Blitzø just proves to Blitzø that he’s the one overreacting, and that Stolas does find him less important, as the entire situation was already about Stolas valuing him less, in his eyes.

Stolas trying to overexplain and backtrack in the lack of access to Blitzø’s own thoughts is hurting them both in this situation. None of his pushing and flip-flopping is going to make Blitzø more eager to initiate a conversation or respond more, especially through a form he’s uncomfortable with using. And this makes Stolas feel unheard and undervalued, which leads to him try even harder, which leads to Blitzø shutting himself off even more, and so on. A lovely miscommunication feedback loop.

And knowing all of this is what makes that last text so important.

Blitzø initates the conversation for the first time. He writes what is, for him, a full sentence, with an emoji. He’s expressing himself as best he can, and is showing his actual feelings in the message. He’s going out of his way to say something to Stolas.

Which then… Stolas overwhelms him with more emotions and words. He’s not comfortable with emotional conversation and too much at once would freak him out, and the immediate upfront honest thoughts Stolas sends in the wake of Blitzø’s own emotional expression aren’t what he necessarily needs or wants to deal with, especially so soon after that worldview-shattering realization, the following guilt spiral, and the subsequent opening up that the first text is.

Yet he then, in spite of these hurdles, starts to reply.

But he gives up.

We don’t know for sure what he was going to say, but an easy read of his thoughts would be: he tried to express his feelings again in some way, was failing to do it right, was overwhelmed with feelings he didn’t know how to handle, and angrily gave up. Probably cursing himself out for even trying.

It’s not callous or uncaring or lacking reciprocity. It’s the full opposite. He’s trying so hard, but failing again. He cares so much and is incapable of expressing it verbally and unable to receive similar care in return.

Look back to the other time he tried this hard to write something emotional. The letter for Fizz. The love letter. And see how that situation went? He got overwhelmed, angry at everything and at himself for thinking he could try at all, and it all ended in fucking disaster. That he blames himself for. That he hates himself for. But here he tried to do it again anyway, while thinking, again, what happened to Stolas was his fault. That one message means so fucking much.

To Blitzø, the idea of visiting Stolas in the hospital was out of the question entirely, and him being asked to so immediately and candidly would make his guilty brain fall over itself even more. He’s never been allowed to visit his loved ones in the hospital, and the entire reason they were hospitalized to begin with was because of Blitzø, so how could this situation be any different? He wasn’t allowed to visit Fizz or Barbie, people who at least at one point he believed cared about him, so he’s definitely not going to be allowed to visit Stolas, who he already thinks doesn’t really give a shit.

That text was the best he could do at that time.

To really communicate effectively, these two need to sit down in front of each other and actually explain where they’re coming from. The lack of knowledge of the other’s position and situation, both in their past and currently in this relationship, is hurting them, and making understanding each other more difficult. The class difference and the differences in upbringing, despite both having garbage fathers and fucking meeting each other as children, are impeding their understanding and view of the other. Both Stolas’ obliviousness toward the actual differences in station and opportunity between him and imps as a whole, and inability to realize Blitzø’s personal difficulties with communication (based in the same place he’s blind to), and Blitzø’s (valid) disdain for the upper class and his view of the stronger, and especially of Stolas, as too good and important to bother with him and too powerful to feel actual pain, are the things they need to fucking address.

Blitzø already got this worldview fucked with, between seeing Stolas worry so much over his daughter, and then actually getting badly hurt. He now knows Stolas can care, and that he can feel pain, and that makes him at least peripherally aware that he’s able to be emotionally hurt.

Stolas, meanwhile, is vaguely at the point of comprehending he holds more power in their dynamic because of their differences in status, and him holding the key to Blitzø’s entire business and livelihood. He now knows Blitzø didn’t think he wanted anything other than sex, because of his hasty and overly selfish attempt at keeping him around. And it was a sex deal! He realizes he was wrong for holding that over Blitzø and that his actions and words in the past helped cause the misunderstanding that he didn’t care for Blitzø past getting sexual favors.

Stolas is gonna try to fix this power imbalance by giving up the entire premise of their current relationship, in the vain hope Blitzø will understand and then reciprocate his actual feelings, while Blitzø is now vaguely trying to actively prove he gives a shit about people, even while unsure of Stolas’ feelings toward him, and the result of these intentions clashing is gonna be a goddamn mess, unless miraculously they can communicate around the inevitable misunderstanding.

Please somebody let them explain themselves and have the other fucking listen.

They both love each other, but are fucked up from trauma and are neurodivergent, so they express themselves differently and can barely figure out their own shit, let alone explain it to the other. Get therapy and try new communication styles.

But they are slowly learning. They have the tools and ability to figure this out if they both try. It’s not futile. It just might take some fuck ups and more time to fully get there.

Like he helps Reader calm down from the very hard day working in the court (could be a meltdown or anything really. Stuff happens) cuz Ren (even tho he's a sweet guy ooc) is an annoyance. So He leads Reader to a quiet room, not trying to not overwhelm them more by touching them (cuz restricting movement is something I hate so so so so much. Childhood was horrible from how people held me like I was an animal) and he lets you calm down from the intense stress of melting down and they go back to work when they're ready and able (cuz ready and able or to different things for me). The loud voice of Ren the King’s shouts startled Y/n not the slightest. Their thoughts had dozed off a few moments ago, wondering how their collection of animals back at base were doing. Did they remember to leave enough food for them? Were their animals left with enough entertainment for the hour they were gone? Was the temperature fitting enough? They had over a dozen creatures—from cats to dogs, parrots to pandas, axolotls, a few barn animals, a warden—

“Order! Order!”

They flinched slightly, unnoticeable to most Hermits.

Most. BDoubleO always seemed to notice their little habits—from flinches to stutters, and the little happy finger click they did when they successfully tamed—or captured, you can’t really tame wardens—another creature.

He turned his head slightly towards them, sending a side glance their way.

The mumblings of the King’s Court never seemed to die down. Ren sighed and rubbed at the bridge of his nose.

“Guys, guys! Your attention, please!”

Y/n licked at their lips, their head downwards as their fingers danced with each other. The mumbling and whispering eased down soon after, and the members of the court finally paid attention to their flustered king.

His hair was wild, standing in all directions as his face flushed in red.

“What may be the issue, my king?” Bdubs, voice calmer and lower than usual, spoke up first.

“Well, as thou shalt see—” Red pointed to the outside of the castle, out the window where the statue of himself stood. “Someone has graffitied my glorious statue!”

Y/n subconsciously shuffled backwards further into their seat. Ren’s increasing volume as he rambled on and on about how the renegades—as he says—disrespected his statue.

“Uh—my king?” Bdubs mumbled lower now, eyes flashing towards Y/n’s direction for a split second. “My liege?”

When Ren hadn’t responded to his quiet calls, inaudible to his loud complaints, Bdubs resorted to whisper-shouting his name instead.

“Ren!”

Ren turned his head towards Bdubs, ready to correct the man, when his eyes moved from the mossy man to the jittery Y/n beside him. Their head hung lowly, their hands gripped each other tightly, and their widened eyes refused to make contact with anyone in the room. “Oh,” Ren mumbled softly. “Oh—I, uh—”

“It’s alright, Ren,” Bdubs whispered, standing up shortly. He tugged lightly on their shirt, enough for them to feel it but not enough to startle them. They turned their head backwards, glancing at the general direction of Bdubs’ face. He held his usual smile, calmer and softer, before pointing his head in the direction of the door.

“Come on, love,” he whispered lowly. “Y’wanna get outta here?”

Without another word, Y/n followed him outside.

As soon as they were out, as soon as the air brushed through their face, Y/n let a sigh leave their lips.

“You alright there, hon?” Bdubs whispered, standing a comfortable distance away.

Y/n stayed silent, letting the wind brush through their face for a few moments. Bdubs waited, patient and kind.

A moment passed, and they sighed. “Yeah—yeah, sorry. That…that was dumb of me.”

“No, no.” Bdubs was quick to reassure them, voice still soft and smile still kind. “No, that wasn’t. You’re fine, Y/n. You just needed a moment of silence, and Ren didn’t notice it in time.”

“But—” “No buts,” Bdubs scolded them lightly. “If you ever need just a moment to keep yourself comfortable, I’ll always be there to help you, got that? You're not a problem to me or anyone.”

They stayed silent for a second before nodding. “Yeah.”

“Good, good. Do you wanna go back or do you want to stay here for a moment.”

“I think—I think I can go back in now.”

Nodding, Bdubs gestured to the door, opening it for them.

“After you.”

Today had been a long day. You haven’t been in the circus for a while so you’re still getting used to the shenanigans and your digital body. Oddly enough, you found Ragatha to be right about the routine of going to sleep every night being calming in a way. After slipping under the covers you close your eyes. You feel your head sinking into your pillow as you start to relax before hearing a soft knock and your door creaking open a crack.

“Psst… Psst! Hey y/n, are you awake?” It was the voice of Kinger, a tall king chess piece in a purple robe with white fur that had black spots on the edges. Although your bedroom was dark, the light in the hallway allowed you to see Kinger peeking his head into your bedroom. You sit up in bed and rub your eyes tiredly while mumbling softly to yourself.

“Yeah… I’m awake.” You mutter before yawning softly. After letting your eyes adjust to the darkness you noticed Kinger seemed nervous. Sure he’s always nervous, but right now he seemed like he was more nervous than normal.  “Did you need something?” With that question, Kinger put up his index finger and hesitated before responding.

“Okay, well… I’ve got a bit of a problem.” He pauses and quickly looks behind him. His gaze locks back onto yours while rubbing his hands together nervously before continuing. “I can’t- I can’t fall asleep! No matter what I do I just- it isn’t working. I need your help. Please please please can you help me?!” He started to sound more frantic as he begged you to help. What? Why is he begging me of all people to help him sleep? What am I supposed to do?

“Okay, okay! Just… calm down, please. I need to think of something.” You prop your head up with your hand, wracking your brain of ways to make people sleep. Maybe he needs something he can’t do on his own? But what would help that he’d need-

“AAAA!” You jumped and let out a short scream in response to Kinger’s sudden yell. Clutching your chest, you look and Kinger with wide eyes. He returns the wide eyed gaze, the awkward silence filling the air. The tension could be cut with a knife.

“What was that for?!” You asked in slight annoyance. Kinger shook slightly before responding. “Sorry! Sorry about that. I um, you were quiet for so long. I thought maybe you left.” What? How does that even- whatever. I need to think of a solution before he scares the s#!% out of me again. “Alright, well how about I tuck you in?” Kinger stares at you silently for a moment, making you feel a little nervous. “What do you mean?” He asks quickly. You let out a soft sigh and get up from your bed, walking over to the door. Kinger quickly backs away a bit and looks down at you. You grab his hand, making his eyes widen more. His gaze quickly shifts from your face to your hands.

“Here, I’ll do it for you.” You and Kinger start walking down the large hallway. This felt weird, like you were the older one and not him. You were too tired to dwell on the fact that you were holding his hand and practically pulling him back to his bedroom. If this comes up in conversation, it’s for future me to deal with. You thought to yourself.

Once you both get to Kinger’s bedroom you let go of his hand and stand with him in front of the doorway. His bedroom is fairly dark as well, the only things he has is his bed, a dresser, and a framed picture of his wife Queenie. He stands there nervously rubbing his hands while his eyes dart around the room. You gesture towards his bed, expecting him to get in. “Oh, right.” He chuckles a bit to himself while walking over to his bed and laying down. What decisions have I made that brought me to tucking in a man in his 40s? You ask yourself.You walk over to the side of his bed, tucking in the nearest side of his bed then leaning over and tucking the far side. While pulling your arm back, Kinger suddenly grabs your arm and keeps it draped over his body.

“Wh- what the heck? Why did you grab my arm?” You ask quickly in confusion. Your eyebrows knit together and you look around the bed before looking back at Kinger. He mumbles something incoherently then lets out a deep sigh, his eyes already closed. Wow, that was quick. You thought. He looked so peaceful in his sleep. Since it seemed he’s been riding the line between just being insane and abstracting, it’s nice seeing him so calm. Though it doesn’t help that he’s clinging onto your arm.

You try to gently get your arm out of his surprisingly tight grasp to no avail. You tried pulling your arm away but he started to gumble in his sleep. You stopped in hopes he’d stay asleep, but assumed that if you did pull your arm away you’d have to deal with his hands being attached to you still. Admitting defeat, you slowly try to lower yourself on the ground while keeping your arm on Kinger. 

Great, now I’m not gonna get any sleep. You thought to yourself as you sat on his floor, your side pressed up against his bed. You let out a sigh, trying your best to be quiet. After admitting defeat, you rest you head on your shoulder, using it as a pillow. Hopefully you can still get some sleep. Of course you don’t really need it, but it would be nice. After a while of sitting there your eyelids start to feel heavier. Yawning softly and closing your eyes, you start to drift to sleep.

Florida WTTT headcanons!!

Back in the mid-1700s, when the states were just colonies, Florida didn’t know much English(being Spain’s son and all) and Louisiana really only spoke French. When they met, they understood some of what each other were saying (because French and Spanish are slightly similar) and hence they became friends

Florida learned English from the other states, but only how to talk it, never how to read it, which is why they say he can’t read. He can read, just not English.

Louie and Mass especially helped Florida with learning English. Louie learned it from the other colonies, and Mass just always knew it. Florida spoke Spanish for the first few decades, and was bullied a lot for it, and although Louie loved the fact that Florida spoke Spanish, he helped him learn English so he wouldn’t be so insecure

When he writes laws, they’re always in Spanish, and DC/GOV can’t always understand them, so Louie, New Mexico, and Puerto Rico are almost always the translators because Florida won’t translate it himself

C’s OC: Zatar is the spearmaster under the employ of the King of Labisa, Akard. His past was rough, a quarter demigod, born to a runaway warrior from the north and a Kishite lord. His mother abandoned him, and his father followed soon after. He grew up in the streets alongside his sister. Zatar is often cold, he rarely laughs or smiles, the only emotion he ever expresses to any great degree is rage. Zatar's life is defined by his loyalty to his King and to his sister, and his distaste for most of the nobility of both Kishetal and Apuna. Zatar is an incredibly violent and bloody person. Unfortunately for those that face him, his temperament is paired with an unmatched skill in ways of war and combat. He is obsessive, and will seek to complete a goal, even at great physical or mental expense to himself. While vicious, he does not necessarily seek violence, his actions are always in service of his king, he will almost certainly ignore anyone whose existence does not in some way help or hinder the ambitions of Akard.

My OC: Cassiopeia is the noble head of Sixth Station, the station focused on materials manufacturing. She is a tall, slim woman with long, curly blonde hair and heterochromatic eyes - one blue, one purple. She dresses elegantly, typically in blue and gold (the Sixth Station colours). Cassiopeia is believed to be a well-intentioned, well-mannered woman who is good at station management but fairly harmless. However, contrary to popular belief, she is actually a cruel, clever, and manipulative woman who is extremely power-hungry. Her secret aspiration is to bring all the Seven Stations under her command as queen. Cassiopeia is a highly skilled manipulator capable of wrapping almost anyone around her finger. She isn’t a fighter - she has no issue with physical violence, but tends to do it to those who can’t fight back, in order to reduce the risk to herself - but rarely is pushed into a situation where fighting is necessary. Her dirty secret is that she farms her clones, and those of her brother, for magic, brutally killing them in the process.

How they’d interact: I think Cassiopeia would like Zatar quite a bit if she could convince him that their goals are aligned. She would try to convince him that she and the king he serves are allied or at least fighting for similar goals (even if it isn’t true) and would attempt to use him that way. If it succeeded, I think she would find his combat prowess and his obsessive nature very useful to her. On the other hand, if he didn’t like her and saw her as one of the nobles he despised, I think she’d be in for a bad time. Cassiopeia and her bodyguards can handle themselves in a fight, but I don’t think any of them compare to Zatar’s skill, and, while their weapons are definitely more advanced, I imagine he’d have the presence of mind to steal their weapons and turn them against them, which would leave Cassiopeia in a bad spot.

Finished Healin' Good

It was nice

I love literally every aspect of the Cures’ personalities and how they contribute to their group dynamic (As well as those of the Fairies) and the same goes to the villains (And their lack of a group dynamic), especially Dairuzen. Though I do wish they did more with Batetemoda and the general concept of making more Evolved Byo-Gens

Nodoka’s childlike wonder at being given a chance to revisit the world after spending so long in a hospital bed, Chiyu’s apparent seriousness that quickly gives way to silliness and passion after she’s properly introduced as a character, Hinata’s Autism™️, the way Asumi just stumbles around randomly and how that visibly lessens as she learns more and more about the world, Rabirin being too perfect to describe in words, Pegitan being all shy and scared at first and his relationships with other people helping him break out of his shell and get more comfortable being bold and snarky, Nyatoran and his determination but also the way that one human woman brought out his softer side,

Lady Rate arc was actually really fucking stupid but I’ll get to that in a bit

Dairuzen and his calm and uncaring mask and the way it immediately crumbles into a million pieces as he realizes he’s not as in control as he thought, the way he teamed up with Guwaiwaru to try to overthrow King Byo-Gen,

I honestly didn’t care for Shindoi-ne that much but she was funny

And the story and all its messages was goated too. Everyone’s arcs were all really cool, especially Nodoka’s and Hinata’s. And the way the Byo-gens represent how some things in this world just can’t exist without destroying others and that you shouldn’t try to preserve those things was so spot-on

Honestly I only have one greivence with this season story-wise and that’s the way Rate wished to get stronger to be able to heal the Earth with everyone else but she never gets stronger by any of her own efforts. All her power was handed to her by other people

And that’s so stupid too because her arc had this theme of needing to grow up and be strong to protect those you love but the whole time she can still clearly be seen hanging back for all of the battles even after Cure Earth’s arrival. She just helps with Asumi’s transformation and that’s it

And the music was good but nowhere near as good as Star Twinkle’s

Normally I would be going to Tropical Rogue next since that’s the season that came after Healin' Good but I’ve seen a lotta funny Suite clips on Twitter and it kinda reminds me of Onegai My Melody so I’m actually gonna be watching that next

so I actually headcanon Tate as being neurodivergent in some way like maybe autism or adhd

regardless, Tate is kind of the king of ‘accepting differences and what makes you special’

so anything that makes you special or just not like others is another thing he adores about you

he loves when you stim, only happy stims of course, and if you let him, sometimes he’ll stim back your most frequent ones

but more than anything, I think he really understands you

for example, feeling inadequate in school and not being able to complete assignments

he’s been there basically his entire life, and if he can’t help you (which he probably can’t), he at least makes you feel better when it upsets you

if you talk a lot, it’s never an issue with him. he loves good conversation, even if it’s about the stupidest things, he will 100% sit and listen to what you have to say

he’s a really good listener, and even when he gets quiet and you think there’s no way he’s still paying attention, he’s still listening

like for example, you are going on a long tangent about something you’re really interested in, and he seems to have been ignoring you, you’d ask him what you were just talking about, and he’d give you a complete play-by-play of your every word

he’s obsessed with you, how could he not soak in your every nonsensical word?

if you have trouble concentrating, he never minds it. he’s constantly all over the place, too, and if you are mid board game and you decide to quit and start vigorously solving a rubik’s cube, he will simply cheer you on

over all, Tate loves you for you, and adores what makes you different, so he never tries to change you in any way, like forcing you to sit and focus on something or anything you wouldn’t normally do

because he truly loves you and understands you, he’d rather exist alongside you in your chaos than try to tame it, because his life is chaos too, and now that he has you, he feels like things are okay even if they’re not perfect

i also hc Addie to have autism, so Tate’s always been around women who are neurodivergent, and it’s actually something he’s come to love in women

i think you’d get along with Addie a lot too, like you’d totally be besties and this would absolutely make Tate’s heart explode

he loves the two of you so much and to see you two being best friends would just make him fall in love with you even more

if you’re the type of person to stim to music (i am, lol) then he’d constantly try his hardest to look out for songs he knows you’d love

Currently Untitled Omegaverse Zukka fic idea; the one where Sokka is the Omega and Zuko is the Alpha, also they’re in an arranged marriage

I’m typically a creature of habit, call it being boring, blame my autism, whatever you think it may be, but I generally write Zuko as an Omega in my Omegaverse stories and that doesn’t change. Except for this one.

In which, the war ends earlier, but not early enough. It’s two years after Kya’s death when word that the Fire Nation’s declaration of war has been lifted by the new Fire Lord, the once-known General Iroh. Sokka, Katara and Hakoda are still heavy with grief, unable to reconcile the news with their hearts so throughly shattered. The South can’t exactly turn their nose up at gestures of peace, but years later, when a letter from the Fire Nation Crown arrives seeking an Omega bride for the Alpha Crown Prince, it’s with a hardened determination that Sokka accepts to ensure their still struggling community gains access to the resources it needs.

Warnings: past mentions of abuse of all kinds, Omega slutshaming and Alpha toxic masculinity, racism, and ptsd.

I’ve already explained one side of the backstory just above, but let’s delve a little deeper anyway:

For the most part, canon is much the same with Ursa being forced to do away with Azulon and fleeing, Ozai usurping, and Iroh traveling, mourning as he goes on a spiritual journey. Unfortunately, no one realized how vulnerable this left Zuko, who had already become much of a thorn in Ozai’s side for his general weakness. Ozai is certain that Zuko is destined to present as Omega, and with little regard for his son, he allows some harmful things to happen to Zuko as long as the ones doing it don’t leave any obvious traces. This abuse abruptly ends when Iroh returns and Zuko is once again safe, but only so long as he’s in Iroh’s space, which the prince naturally clings to.

Then the war meeting happens, and while Zuko is still unpresented, his father goes along with the Agni Kai. Iroh can’t stop the fight, but after he has the power to challenge Ozai on the basis of his outright cruelty towards a child. Iroh wins that fight, Ozai is stripped of his title as the Dragon of the West takes his rightful place, and Zuko is now safe though at such a terrible cost.

Azula, shocked by her uncle’s ability to so throughly thrash her father, who she had always believed was stronger, was given a wake up call. She was sent away for a while but when she returned, there was a calmness about her that no one had ever seen before, and a warm strength that had entered her bending that had previously been missing. From then on, she seemed like a steadfast supporter of her uncle and brother, who was still recovering from the trauma of everything happening so fast in his life.

Zuko presented late, nearly 18, as an Alpha, shocking everyone including his uncle who had believed Zuko was a Beta by that point. It was determined that the sexual abuses he had suffered likely stunted his body’s natural presentation, but after he was like a weed, growing quick and strong even over such a short amount of time

It was determined after a year that Zuko should find a mate, and also one that might help strengthen the ties with another nation now that the war had been ended for several years. Anyone of high rank would do, but another royal was best. However, the Princess of the Northern Water Tribe was long mated herself, and the Earth King was a Beta and already had a wife (though it was clear their marriage was also political). Through Iroh’s contacts they received word that the Southern Water Tribe had an Omega of marriageable age that was a child of the High Chief Hakoda. The South so very rarely communicated with the Northern Tribe but this knowledge was at least sound.

Which leads us to the main story: Sokka is 18, just of marriage age when the letter arrives. He’s “made his peace” with his own presentation, though in his earlier years Sokka resented his Omega status. Now, he knows being an Omega means he can have children, but it doesn’t mean he can’t provide for them too. It means he’s expected to run a household, but that means he’s expected to be clever and adaptable. And he’s expected to mate an Alpha, but Hakoda and Katara were always so very clear that it was his choice on who he mated, and so far Sokka had not felt any draw towards anyone in their very small Tribe.

Hakoda is almost immediately going to reply with a negative to the letter but Sokka stops him, telling him it’s Sokka’s own choice and he only needs think on it a moment. Katara is adamant it’s a fake offer and wants to send a very dramatic message back but Sokka insists it’s still his decision first and foremost. And in the end, he decides it’s better for their Tribe. He has no real prospects otherwise and this way, at least he can guarantee his marriage will lead to some good.

Before he leaves, Katara offers to use her bending to basically give Sokka a hysterectomy to ensure he doesn’t have to bear children for the Fire Prince, but Sokka isn’t willing to risk anyone finding out and calling it a betrayal, knowing it would likely be taken out on the Southern Tribe itself. So it’s with lots of frustration and tears that Katara and Hakoda send Sokka on a journey to the Fire Nation to become Zuko’s bride. No one can go with Sokka, as the Tribe has dwindled so small since the Southern Raiders, every body needed for the hunt and fishing, or for tending the small patches of root farms and livestock, or for foraging in the sparse growing seasons. With this marriage Sokka only feels relief his absence won’t harm them further; they’re promised lots of meat and cloth in just the first shipment of goods.

Sokka is immediately overwhelmed when he’s brought to the Fire Nation. There’s just so much around, like every inch not paved over is full of greenery and there’s just bodies everywhere; so many Alpha, Omega and Beta milling about, children screaming and giggling as they play underfoot. Strange creatures he’s never seen before are pulling carts and being ridden, and even his own transportation from the boat to the Fire Palace is drawn by incredibly large reptile hybrids.

The Palace is also overwhelmingly huge. Nothing in the South ever was taller than a single story, unless you counted there being a cellar under a home. Here the buildings could go three, four, sometimes five floors above the ground level. Sokka almost faints from the number of stairs he climbs, but that’s also likely due to the heat. It’s scorching in the Fire Nation, and he hardly has clothing that could be comfortable.

By the time Sokka makes it to the throne room where Fire Lord Iroh, Crown Prince Zuko and Princess Azula are waiting, Sokka feels like he’s about to shatter. Which doesn’t get any better when some Sage or whatever starts talking, droning on and on about political ties and bonds of blood. Sokka is somewhat aware of the darkness clouding around his vision but he isn’t fast enough to stop himself from fainting this time, crumpling in front of the royal family before even all the formalities have been addressed.

Sokka wakes up in a small but open room, a window cracked to let in a breeze and a wet but now room temperature compress on his forehead. Sokka is embarrassed beyond all measure but a sprightly girl, Ty Lee, appears out of nowhere and helps Sokka to sit up so he can eat some plain rice and drink down several sips of water. She explains that she’s a friend of the family and an Omega as well, so it was decided to have her help attend to Sokka before the wedding. He’s grateful for the company but not sure if the wedding is still on after his display. She just giggles at him and says it’s clear he was just so stunned by the handsomeness of the prince that he couldn’t help but swoon. Sokka indulges that assessment if it makes her (and others) feel better.

If anything, Sokka isn’t sure about the prince. He just knew that Zuko had a large burn on his face and that the man was constantly scowling. He was certain Zuko found Sokka wanting in every way, but Sokka felt he couldn’t fully blame the guy. Sokka was pretty buff for an Omega, having packed on muscles as he trained with the other young adults in the village to ensure nothing like the southern raiders ever happened again. And he kept a typical warrior’s wolf tail despite being an Omega. He didn’t have fine dresses or a natural softness about him that spirits tales always seem to box Omega into. He was just… Sokka.

But Sokka was determined to get married to the Alpha Prince. He wouldn’t back down from nerves and put his tribe in jeopardy. But this also means he has to start acting like a true Omega, and while Sokka is up for a challenge it feels also like a life sentence.

There’s a few formal dinners and events Sokka is required to attend before the wedding is prepared. Zuko is always at Sokka’s side for those, but he only takes Sokka’s arm when required and immediately release it once he’s allowed. He hardly speaks to Sokka and usually with monosyllabic sentences. And Zuko never, ever looks Sokka in the eye. It’s both relieving and insulting.

Eventually Sokka confront Zuko for being so standoffish and insists that when they’re married they’re going to need to exist in the same spaces. This only seems to agitate Zuko more and he leaves without defending his actions. He does apologize later but when they don’t have a chance to talk about why.

The wedding comes, and the wedding night approaches, and while Zuko managed to stay at Sokka’s side up until then, he disappears before they head to bed and Sokka wakes up still alone.

And the same thing happens the next day. And the next day. And the next day.

At this point, Sokka is tired of being alone and ignored, so he just… starts doing his own thing. Being an “ideal Omega” has never been his goal in life so he’s just Done. He made it past the hard part, so at this point Sokka is certain as long as he doesn’t truly offend anyone he can start being himself again.

From there I want to explore a lot of themes regarding forced gender roles and stereotyping, and how Zuko and Sokka both have their own issues regarding their secondary genders. There’s also a lot of healing that has to be done. Zuko needs to try and give Sokka a chance, of course, but so much of his reluctance is tied to his own past experiences leaving him terrified of intimacy.

I feel like Azula is gonna be a fun character here too. She’s a lot gentler with her brother and more… accommodating towards Iroh, but she still has her sharpness. Eventually Aang will also get discovered again too, but that will be a while.

There is no right way to be

Steve was diagnosed as autistic when he was 4 years old, his parents, mortified, begrudgingly accepted this diagnosis and threw him into massive amounts of intense therapy. Methods to hide who he is, were drilled into his head as a child.

By 10 years old, Steve crafted the most amazing character Hawkins had ever seen, King Steve was born, and his charm was in full effect. Now Steve didn’t understand what was wrong with being different, but he saw the difference in how people treated “King Steve,” versus how they treated the real Steve. He knew people didn’t like the real Steve, he was strange, he didn’t know how to talk to people, and he moved weirdly. By 13, social psychology became his special interest and he knew how to use it to help himself seem “typical.” He knew he was supposed to like drinking alcohol, and he knew he was supposed to like girls, and know how to touch them. So down the rabbit hole he went, fully embracing this new information and making it a part of him.

His tactics finally came through when he started dating Nancy Wheeler, he thought he had made it through. Finally pushing his autism deep down to where no one, not even himself, could touch it, or acknowledge it. Unfortunately for Steve, even the things you try your hardest to hide come out in one way or another. He manages to hide his meltdowns, something he wasn’t able to avoid no matter how strong the mask, all the way up until the night of the Starcourt Battle. By this time, everyone is exhausted. The mindflayer is dead, the gate is closed, everyone miraculously still alive, waits for the sirens to draw closer.

Steve and Robin were fully laying on the floor, listening to everyone clamor around. Joyce hovering close to her sons as well as keeping a strong eye on Hopper, who was looking over Eleven, as well as Billy, who made it out with a nasty gash covering most of his body. Steve could overhear Hopper reassuring him, “You’ll be okay, son. We’ll get you patched up good.” Billy responds by groaning in pain. Steve is barely holding on, the sirens were now outside the mall, and the lights flickering, and the breathing and the talking, and the scraping of shoes and- fuck. He had to go. Right now. Tears pricking at his eyes and breath hitching, he tried to conceal the urge to slam his head against the wall, at least until he made it to the bathroom. Robin watched him leave, concerned, and she caught eyes with Dustin. They made a mental agreement to follow Steve's shaking frame, “Do you think he’s going to puke again?” Dustin asked warily. Robin shook her head, “No, he shouldn't be sick anymore… I thought we threw up all that Russian crap.” As they inched closer to the bathroom Steve had holed himself up in, they could hear him bargaining with his own mind. “Please not here. Please. I worked so hard. I can’t.” He whispered as he rocked back and forth on the ground. A shriek ripped through his throat, and he knew he had to let it out. One of his most painful, exhausting meltdowns took place, and Dustin and Robin had front row tickets. “Steve? Steve, are you okay? Answer me Buddy.” Robin said gently.

“I. can't,” he sniffled. “Stop.” Robin noticed his fist beating repeatedly against his chest, she tried to stop him but he ripped from her grasp. “Is he having a seizure?” Dustin wondered, earning a smack on the shoulder. His attempts to put his body at ease were futile, the hyperventilation had set in, concerned, Robin sent Dustin to go get one of the adults, “I don’t know dingus, that cop or that lady! He just. I think he needs help!” With that, Dustin ran to get Joyce, Hopper seemed like he wouldn’t be good in this situation. In doing this, he had caught the attention of Jonathan and Nancy, who briskly followed them back to the bathroom, much to Steve's dismay. Joyce knew immediately what she was witnessing, and ordered everyone out of the bathroom. She knew she had overheard Joe Harrington berating his boy outside of the diner that one evening. Calling Steve all sorts of names, using his diagnosis as a weapon, and boy it was a dangerous one. Gently she said, “Steve, honey. It’s going to be alright, okay? Why don’t you put your hands over your ears, and your head in between your knees.” Slowly she guided his hands to where they could block out extra noise, luckily the bathroom only had one light on. After 15 minutes, Steve eventually passed out, Joyce having to utilize Hopper's strength to get him out of the bathroom and back to the Byers’ house.

Once there, Joyce finally allowed the slew of questions Dustin seemed to have for her. When the words “Steve” and “autistic” and “meltdown”  came out in the same sentence, the room went quiet. Mike piped up first, as always, never thinking before speaking, “What? Steve isn’t retarded. That’s ridiculous.” Joyce hushed him harshly and Dustin smacked his shoulder.. She quickly explained Steve’s hidden backstory, as he was waking up. Opening his eyes slowly, he could see everyone staring at him, minus Billy and Hopper who had gone to the hospital to get patched up. He cleared his throat, and Joyce handed him a cup of hot chocolate. His eyes shifted across the room, not remembering what they had witnessed. Like a switch, Steve was back, the charmer, the babysitter, not as much king but… You know. “What’s up guys? How’d we get back to the Byers’?” Joyce cleared her throat and softly said, “They know, Steve.”

Steve chuckled nervously, “Know what? I haven’t hidden anything from you guys…” He trailed unconvincingly. His throat tightened as he swallowed, his well crafted mask slowly slipping due to all of the exhaustion, and because of this he didn’t notice he had started to stim. He slowed his rocking, and tears pricked his eyes. “I… Tried so hard to never let anybody see this. It’s fine if you want me to go, I understand. No one wants a retard as a friend.” He shifted, getting up from the couch, about to cross to get to the door before he was stopped by Eleven. “No. Different is okay. I am different, they have not left me.” He looked around the room, everyone was in agreement with El’s statement. Dustin walked over to him, “Buddy. Friends don’t lie. Why did you never tell anyone? Tell me?” Steve shuddered. “I was worried that you all would leave. I like being alone but… I hate being lonely. After my parents cast me aside… It was all I knew. Once I figured out that people like me better when I pretend, and when I hide, I knew that I could never show my true self… Or I would go back to loneliness.”  He sniffled, moving back to sit on the couch. Joyce joined him, rubbing his arm soothingly, “Steve, after all we’ve been through together, nothing is going to make us leave you. Not even the fact that you’re autistic.” His breath hitched at that word, he had pushed it so far from himself to hear it identified with him was shocking. He took a breath and told everyone his story, his true story. They all understood, the whole party has felt like outcasts at one moment or another, and Jonathan and Nancy, well they really got it. Steve finally had a family that loved him no matter what, and it felt good.

A few days passed and Steve had set camp on Joyce’s couch, she wouldn’t let him go back to that big empty house alone. Hopper and Billy returned, Billy having found a new appreciation for life, was more motivated than ever to get back on his feet and move out, away from Neil’s grasp. The two were let in on the new information about Steve, it came as a surprise to Billy, but Hopper had been there when Joyce overheard that bastard berate his own son for something he couldn’t control. Billy learned that certain words caused more harm than physical abuse, and Steve helped him understand that by infrodumping about social psychology.

Steves new found family was never going to leave him in the dust, and they supported his true self.

Hello! I was wondering if you could please write something about how the Fellowship (+ Thorin?) Would help a s/o who's Disabled and Chronically ill. Like she has a lot of symptoms like chronic pain, chronic fatigue, difficulty sleeping, difficulty breathing at times, difficulty walking at times, higher sensitivity to the cold, difficulty talking at times, and anxiety, depression and executive dysfunction?

I've been really struggling with my chronic illnesses lately, namely my Autism, Anxiety, Sleep Apnea, a really bad Overbite, Raynaud's Syndrome, Asthma, etc, so I'd really appreciate an Imagine like this. I have a really weird disorder where one of my legs is longer than the other, and it's been causing me a lot of pain and difficulty walking lately, and people have been bullying me for it a lot too, so I could really use a Comfort Imagine right now. Thanks so much hun!!

Aragorn (Autism)

Aragorn has known you for a long time, so helping with your autism is not new for him

He's particularly experienced in reading your emotions and meeting your needs, whether it's helping you out of stressful situations or calming you down, he's there 🥺

If there are large and boisterous gatherings in Rivendell, its almost guaranteed that you can become over-stimulated quickly, and Aragorn immediately senses this (spidey senses õoõ)

He's fast to find your hand and give it a gentle squeeze of reassurance

If that doesn't seem to help, he'll instantly stop what he's doing and take you out of the room

If you're someone who prefers lots of space and little physical contact, he is 100% respectful of this and asks if you'll let him touch or hug you (very much gentleman 😌)

If ever you're confronted by someone of importance, Aragorn is right by your side to ease some of the tension

Sometimes there are things you find difficult to say or get out of your system

The king seems to know exactly what it is and will help you out by saying it or asking you simple questions that you can easily answer

And he always reminds you, no matter WHAT

YOU ARE NOT STUPID 😤😡

You may struggle with some parts of your life, but every day, he's constantly telling you that you're very intelligent and kind

His patience is unending and he'll never let you think down on yourself

Overall, Aragorn is always someone and reminding you that it's all going to be okay ❤❤

Legolas (Anxiety)

Most nights, Legolas keeps watch (since elves don't require much sleep) and notices that you jolt awake out of the random

Now, most of the Fellowship notices that you're usually awake and ready to go before anyone else

But Legolas is really the one to address you first

You were a bit nervous to explain, since you didn't want to worry him or the great of the fellowship, amount the other disadvantages you have

He gently encouraged you, and finally, you explained to him your sleep apnea

Yeah, he was very concerned

I mean, his blue eyes widened with terror when you told him that you could basically die in your sleep if you weren't attentive enough 🙃

Legolas, from now on, sleeps directly next to you, or keeps extra careful watch over you at night

Because he could NEVER see his precious mortal friend become injured... Or worse 🥺🥺❤

The other members had noticed a change in his behaviors towards you as well...

Gimli teased him whenever he caught Legolas giving you some extra lembas bread or offered to carry you 👉👈

You really tried to assure Legolas that it wasn't a big deal when you were awake, since you're aware of your breathing situation

But still 😤

Legolas will always bring you comfort and take great care of you, and that will NEVER CHANGE

Because he loves you very much ❤🦋

Frodo (Anxiety)

Frodo is familiar with the feeling of great anxiety, seeing he had a stress-free life while living in the Shire and suddenly was forced to carry a piece of jewelry all the way to giant ass volcano

It's easy for you two to comfort each other and seek refuge in thoughts and feelings ❤

He's not super comfortable with the thought of you having a panic attack though...

Only because he's never had one

It starts to give him a panic attack whenever you have one around him the first time 😳-

Any time you begin to breathe heavy or hyperventilate, halfling boy is hot at your heels, rubbing your back and reminding you to breathe gently

(So many hugs, if you're up for it)

After you calm down, he's constantly checking on you, asking if you need anything etc.

Really, he just wants to know if he can help 🥺

And even with the weight and stress of carrying the ring, Frodo manages to cheer you up somehow

Samwise (Asthma)

Sam has never had to deal with asthma once in his life

He's very nervous when the subject is brought, afraid it might trigger something inside of you 🥺👉👈

But you just chuckle, assure him that it's alright, and you have ways of keeping it under control

And now, he wants to know everything about it, just to have the awareness in case something happens

Sam just wants to protect you forever, and this was a great way for him to start

He constantly reminds Aragorn that you'll need breathing breaks and will convince Gandalf to let you ride on his horse

He'll scold Pip and Merry if they are trying to drag you around and be silly, because as he says

"You'll rouse him/her/them up! We can't have Y/N gettin injured!" 🤨😠

Sam is MOM

As always, he's very kind and always makes sure your needs are met ❤🥺

Pippin and Merry (Raynaud's Syndrome)

Very confused halfings 🤔

Also extremely concerned!

You were eating one of the lesser pleasurable nights

It was cold and rainy, and a fire couldn't be started, not to mention the quiet arguments of Aragorn and Gandalf in the nearby woods

And Pip's eyes widened when he saw the tips of your petite fingers begin to pale upon hearing Aragorn mention Orcs

"What's wrong with your hands?!" He squeaked, pointing towards your now white-colored fingertips

You hadn't even noticed, nor felt, considering they were numb anyways

Merry looked over his cousin's shoulder and his eyes also widened, not with fright, but wonder

They were both fascinated with your condition, convinced that you were casting some spell Gandalf showed you

Although you reassured them it was just an extremely frustrating inconvenience that you had, among other things

So from then on, the disastrobus duo did their best to keep you out of the cold (and stressful situations!!)

As a distraction, the pair will tell you great stories of the shire, doing little dances and skits that always cheer you up 🥴

Sometimes, they can be a little rambunctious though...

Merry will pick up on this fact quickly, and nudge Pippin to get him to calm down

Even though it may not feel the best

They find your syndrome absolutely fascinating!! 🤔🤔

All in all, these two are always up for keeping your beautiful smile on your face and your spirits high!! ❤🌺

Boromir (Depression)

Throughout the journey, Boromir has always found an easy way to make you smile

After all, he himself has a fascinating way of brightening anyone's spirits

Yours included ❤

Boromir may not have great stories from The Shire, like Pip and Merry, but he sure has a lot of positive things to say

He'll often suggest sparring with the two troublemaking halflings, just so you can see him goof up and get knocked over 🥺

If the nights become cold and weary, he'll give you a warm hug or a nudge on the shoulder

And a few words of helpful encouragement along the lines of;

"Don't fret Y/N. You have more strength than you'll ever know."

"Let our spirits never dampen! We've come this far!" 😊

He's also an incredible listener

Boromir wants to hear what you have to say if you ever need to rant or get something off of your chest

And don't think for a second that he would ever judge you 😤

Son of Gondor sees past all of your insecurities and knows you for your beautiful, amazing self ❤❤

Gimli (Walking disadvantages)

As you travel across great plains and mountains, your limp doesn't go unnoticed by Gimli

It may take him a while to open up about it, since he's afraid he might offend you in some way

And once he asks you, you inform him that it's a difficulty that unfortunately cannot be changed any time soon

And where you come from, lots of people tease and bully you about it

He did NOT handle it well 😳

"wHAT BLUBBERING DULL-MINDED PIGNUTS-" 🤬

Although this Dwarf is short and a bit slow at times

He's fascinatingly strong 😳

And so, he makes it his duty to be your designated carrier 🥺

At first, your a tad skeptical...

BUT HAVE YOU SEEN HIM THROW THAT HUGE AX AROUND?!

Gimli will happily carry you great distances when you need a break, and even longer

Thorin himself has trouble keeping composure with his time management (and sense of direction 🙄)

This means that he'll have an undying amount of patience for you and you only

There's just something about you that he fond of, and it fills in that little sassy, brooding place in his heart

Can also relate to you whenever you grow frustrated at the setback of your journey or lack of sleep

Is 100% willing to help you find your lost belongings (and once again, ONLY YOU)

Thorin will literally make the whole traveling party stop so that you can put something in your bag and make sure that you put it somewhere you'll remember

Always happy to give you extra gentle reminders of keeping your pack closed

The company is utterly SHOCKED with how he treats you

I mean, this man has always been extremely stubborn and hard headed

But when you show up, it's another person he can easily relate and share frustrations with

Also a master at organization?!? 🤔

The one thing he could do successfully was organizing the damn journey and traveling company, so ofc he's gonna be good at that 😂

Yeah, Thorin definitely has a soft spot for you

Hello! I heard that Cove is on the spectrum, albeit undiagnosed. As someone who is ND, this makes me UNBELIEVABLY happy. I literally was brought to tears! Thank you for that!

Out of curiosity, will Cove be diagnosed in Step 4? I have a strong feeling y’all won’t make it a HUGE deal/make it out to be negative, so I’m not worried about that whatsoever! I’m just curious just he’ll off handedly mention it? Or will it just not be touched upon at all (which is ok!)?

I’m happy it made you happy! Admittedly, Cove simply being someone with autism that grew up not being diagnosed was something I included for myself. I didn’t really think anyone would notice or ask about it, aha. But players did start to have questions about his traits, so I started to talk about it outside of the game. It’s great to see it get such a positive response and now I do feel like having it be a non-topic may have been the wrong choice and bringing it up would’ve been good in terms of having positive representation for that. I don’t know if I’ll find a way to mention it in Step 4 now, with how far along the game is, but I am at least thinking about it when originally it wasn’t something I really even considered.

Hey!  Just wanted to say thank you for Our Life.  It's been a bright spot and a needed escape in what's otherwise been a crummy year.  I know you just did a Q&A post but I figured I'd ask anyway.  Was just curious about Step 4.  Will it be similar to the other Steps in that it consists of several different moments or will it just be one long sequence?

Step 4 is shorter than the prior Steps because it’s just an epilogue rather than a full arc of a story. It’ll consist of scenes that all happen in a set row one after the other. There won’t be a collection of Moments to choose from. But it’ll still be very sweet and fun.

Titanic would make him cry. He’d probably think the parts showing people who aren’t able to make it to the life boats/are choosing to stay and go down with the ship were the saddest.

Hello, I wanted to ask how much you earn with creating games? Like is it possible to make a living? Thank you >< <3 

How much I earn varies a lot month to month based on Steam sales, Patreon backers, and how many projects are in full production at the time. It’s also hard to say how much I make historically, since that also changes dramatically year by year. But I do earn enough to work on these games full time! I really appreciate all the support that allows me to do that.

Hey!! I was wondering for the 18+ Our Life moment, will there be an emphasis on safety/comfort for all involved? I feel like there  would be just going off of what the rest of the game is like, but I wanted to ask 

Yes! Cove is a nervous boy himself and also super cautious about doing anything the MC doesn’t like, so clear consent from both is absolutely needed for anything to happen. It’s a conversational sexy times Moment with stops/starts so the two can talk about how they’re feeling, rather than a heat of the moment just going for it kind of thing.

Hey!! I was wondering how long the wedding dlc would be? Will it be broken up into moments, or just one big event? 

It’s one long series of scenes all in a row rather than a collection of Moments to pick from. It’s the shortest and the least expensive of all the DLCs. It’s not super crucial to get and those who aren’t into big weddings can totally skip it without worry.

HELLO AMAZING DEVS 👋 i am hopelessly in love with the worst guy ever (jeremy king) and because of this i have a really stupid question: does he really hate people who are nice to him? TvT he’s too cute to be mean to istg it’s a miracle JB held the urge to be consistently nice to him bc just look at his FACE he is so cute! thank you for jeremy’s route it’s so lovely (and awful bc he’s scum 11/10) it gave me so much laughs LMAO i hope you guys have a good day!! 

Haha, thank you. He doesn’t hate them but he’s certainly not pleased with them. Jeremy is either uncomfortable with or annoyed by people being sweet on him, depending on how they approach it. He’s far more comfortable with jerkiness. It lets him relax and he can be himself without it being a problem, since he’s also a jerk. He feels a level of guilt being such a little punk to kind people, not enough to be a better person but still.

Has Cove dated or been interested in someone other than MC? 

Nope! He stays single over the course of the game if he’s not with the MC.

Is Step 4 more mature? Or it's gonna be set in similar atmosphere as Step 3? 

Step 4 is a similar atmosphere as Step 3. Though, it’s actually kind of less mature-topic heavy than Step 3 since it’s just a ‘hey, let’s check in on the gang to see what they’re up to’ style epilogue rather than a story arc with serious issues.

will there be new music for now and forever?? or will the old our life music be reused? 

It’s gonna be a brand new soundtrack. We’ll be opening up a job position for that soon.

Hi, is it okay if we use the assets in Our Life (like the sprites) for fanworks or fan content content, like edits? 

Sure! Just as long as you don’t use the assets made by those artists to make money.

Quick clarification on Step 3 choices: I hope I didn't come off rude (because I LOVE the game, really!!), I was just curious because the intro threw me off at times. For example, you could choose how you felt about Elizabeth in Step 2 (Dinner), but during the Step 3 intro, it says that you got closer to Liz and I didn't get a choice in it. 

For the example, it can’t be helped that you’re closer to Liz in Step 3 than you were in Step 2 because she’s inherently closer to the MC regardless of whether you liked her or not in Step 2. Her feelings are out of your control and the game isn’t so dramatic that you can push her affection away and not let her bond with you, haha. But ‘being closer’ can still be relative. For some people maybe that means you’re best buds now and for others it might just mean you’re not fighting all the time any more. If there’s other parts you want to mention, feel free to let us know.

Did the illustrator for Our Life change? 

We have many OL artists! The main artists who set the game’s style haven’t changed, but there’s multiple other artists who help finish assets.

Hey! First, I just want to say I've really enjoyed how detailed OL got with gender identity and sexuality and how respectful the topics were handled! It's been so wonderful to play since the experiences could be close to my own (I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up at parts). Second, I was wondering, would future games explore the topic of polyamory? I'd love to see more visual novels allow room for that and I saw you've explored the topic before.

Thank you! We do want to include polyamory in at least some of our future projects. Floret Bond, which might be what you’re referring to when mentioning how we’ve explored the topic before, is on hold unfortunately. So right now I’m not sure when something might release or what will be the first game of ours to come out with poly relationships (we might do something else before FB is done). We’ll have see how things ends up coming together.

Hey um. I feel like im not allowed to ask this on the private discord cuz people will yell at me but why is there so much focus on OL2 and not finishing OL1 stuff? I like the new people but i kind of want to finish cove's story and get derek and baxter stuff first. didn't people pay for it? 

I’m sorry, I don’t understand entirely what’s making that situation a concern. There’s a channel in the discord for critique where no one is allowed to comment back. People can voice things they’re worried about without any way for others to push back on it. And the two teams working on the OL games are different. We try to post pretty often about how we’re hiring brand new people to start on Our Life: Now & Forever. The OL1 team is all still working on OL1 like normal. There’s only more updates on the Patreon for OL2 because the expansions to the first game are mostly script-based at this point while OL2 is just starting to get all its art, which means there’s a lot more to show off as previews.

Also, there was a Kickstarter for the first Our Life, if that’s what you mean by people paying for it. But one of the stretch goals was to start Our Life 2 early, before fully completing Our Life 1, so that the new game could be out sooner. It wouldn’t make sense to stop doing OL2 work because that would be going against what backers were promised. Maybe you didn’t get the full story before and hopefully this clears it up!

Hello! I know it's up to every player but.. What is your recommendation for playing order? Did you ever had any timeline  events planned? 

I didn’t make the events with a planned timeline. The events got made simply as I had ideas for them and then I just kind of organized them from left to right on the screen in an order to space out more dramatic ones between more lighthearted ones. Any order the player wants to go with is totally valid!

The Step 4 epilogue is free! The Cove Wedding DLC does cost money, though. Those are planned to be shorter than the usual Steps/DLCs.

Will we have options for what sort of job the MC might have by the time step 4 takes place? 

Yeah, you can. It’s not super exact or detailed, but there are options about it.

Is there a pandemic in Our Life world, or is it just in a better timeline with no pestilence? 

Our Life is pandemic-free! That didn’t exist when we began working on the project and it’s not something we’d like to feature in this story now that it has unfortunately come along, aha.

Hi, you said that you can play tic-tac-toe or hangman with Cove in Boating if you're sick/scared but I keep getting tic-tac-toe. Am I doing something wrong?

After being sick/scared you have to continue to be upset/unwell. If you calm down and decide to just chill you’ll end up playing tic-tac-toe.

Hi, GB Patch! Since Lee was initially commissioned to only appear in two Steps does this mean she won't appear in the Wedding DLC? I really like her character so it'll be a little weird to not have our cousin at our wedding, aha.

She is gonna be in Step 4/the wedding DLC after all! We’re still working with her creator to make sure it fits with what they wanted.

Is Sunset Bird based on a real place? Asking for a friend, not trying to move there or anything. 👀

It’s based on small beach towns in So-Cal, but not one specific town you could go see in real life, I’m afraid. It’d be nice if it was real, though.
