You Called

Whumptober No. 6: “Do or die, you’ll never make me; Because the world will never take my heart.”

Content: Transformation whump, forced transformation, removed(??) whump, werewolf whumpee

as soon as I thought I could write short pieces my brain went nope! and also my brain went nope! for all of whumptober so i'm defo not completing it this year. it was fun while it lasted :))

“Kuza, you’re gonna want to see this.” 

Detective Kuza sighed. He really didn’t. 

“Bring it over, then,” he muttered. 

“Stop being lazy and come over here,” Smriti snapped. She had worked alongside the detective long enough to stop tolerating his dramatic apathy. 

Kuza kicked his feet out, pushing his chair back with enough force for it to roll across the room and stop about a meter from Smriti’s desk. 

“You called?” He drawled.

His partner ignored him, simply pressing a key to play a video on her monitor. 

The frame nearly took up the whole screen, leaving room on the right for what looked like a computer terminal on a separate window. 

Kuza turned to Smriti. “Is this the—“

“Shh,” She shushed him, despite the lack of audio.

He turned back in time to see a figure drag in a box nearly his size into the room. Otherwise the room looked bare. Concrete. Grey. 

The figure left hurriedly as soon as they got the box in the centre of the room.

Now that the camera could focus on the box, Kuza could make out a serial number on its edge: LW1X—9K23. 

Shit. Smriti was right. 

There was a few frames of the box in the room where he wasn’t sure if it was still playing. Everything was still. 

And then the box burst open from the inside. A blur of motion, and the huge wooden crate was in pieces on the floor. 

The creature bounced around the room, wall to wall before slowing down and pacing in a circle on all fours. 

Even in his wolf form, Kuza recognized him. 

Avery Muton. One of his closest friends who was currently living in Kuza’s sister’s guest room. Still recovering, weeks later.

He didn’t react. He just watched the tape play. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Smriti trying to glean something from his face. 

Back on the screen, Avery was howling. Then something got his attention; he started sniffing the air. With his head turned upward, Kuza saw a thick metal collar gleaming on his throat. 

Kuza’s eyes went to the other tab on the screen; white code and numbers started to appear, scrolling down. That was Smriti’s area of expertise. 

He could still read though, so when ACTIVATED came up in all caps, he looked back to the main screen in dreadful anticipation.

Avery crumpled and twisted in pain, fangs bared. Kuza found himself grateful there was no audio. The camera became fuzzy for a few moments as his distress increased, and then Kuza came to a dreadful realization, watching Avery paw at his head and snout. 

They were trying to force a transformation. 

“Do you know what date this was recorded?”

Smriti scrolled up in the terminal. “If I understood the cipher correctly, this was October 6th of this year. Or that could just be the date it was uploaded to the folder,” she admitted. 

Kuza moved to stop the playback, but Smriti stopped him. 

“There’s more—“

“Were they successful?” 

“What?”

“Did they change it into a human?” 

“Technically no, but—“

“Then I don’t need to see it,” he snapped coldly. 

Smriti continued. “Technically no,” she emphasized, “but look,” she gestured to the screen. 

Avery had stopped writhing around. He lay on the floor, panting heavily, ears twitching. 

He flinched at something. Then he struggled to his feet, swaying and trembling. He took a step forward and fell against the wall. He put a paw against the wall, as if he was going to pull himself up. 

Then he started to try and do exactly that; Avery tried to stand on his hind legs and failed miserably, face planting on the concrete. He looked painfully disoriented, jaw opening and closing, his body shuddering—

“What am I supposed to be seeing?” He asked coldly. 

“You can’t see the difference?” 

Kuza side-eyed her, unimpressed. 

“He’s in there,” she said simply. “Partial success,” she read from the bottom of the terminal. 

Good lord that actually explains so much, Kuza thought to himself amid the horror. He needed to let his sister know—if she didn’t already. Avery actually spoke with her. 

“Save it to the case file,” he said tonelessly. He rolled back to his desk. 

He had work to do.

Avery is so sweet!

His deafness brings up an interesting question though: Do you actually need to hear what's on the cassette tape to be able to transform?

While making his ref sheet I was questioning the same thing but my buds pointed out two things that deaf peeps can enjoy music but differently, by the vibrations.

The final battle with Aleph null when he breaks the cassette tape/player Morgante shows up and points out that cassettes are merely just items, "talisman" and that a persons will is what can change them.

I don't think I've ever posted them here before... but these are my longstanding magical girl ocs (Heart:Beat Magical Girls!)!!! The premise is that they're each powered by a specific emotion felt toward them, and that emotion is also one they feel very strongly themselves (pink is love, phoebe is fear, avery is hate, rose is jealousy)! They all also have a little robo-animal alien companion that comes from a robot planet that's threatened by other 'computer virus' aliens and had to seek help on earth (the robot animals transform into headsets when their partner is in battle mode). Pink (main character) also has a secret life as a professional gamer with a specialty in rhythm games (high school student by day). That's the most important strokes. I may post more about these guys laterrrrr. and i'll update them on artfight. some time. OH and the little mouse is Click, Pink's mouse/computer mouse companion. yay.

Juno the Charm:

$350 to get that hair… it’s 100 per month to get her roots touched up then tone out the bleach overlay. Her original color is like a deep coral

One of her molars is fake! She shattered it as a kid right after her adult teeth came in. Her dad was incredibly stressed by it and she has dental visits every 6 months on the dot.

She gets along with Avery pretty well since they know her dad. She met them pretty often too throughout her childhood, you could almost say they get her better than her dad does in terms of her worst urges. She’d be MUCH different if they influenced her more, it’s better that Avery just wasn’t interested in getting to know her past doing it for appearances and brownie points towards her father otherwise she’d be FAR worse.

Luka the Bite:

Teeth grow back. “We don’t know why” he has like 20 fish transformation points from FUCK knows where

Allergic to sheep and cat dander.

He’s not a fan of foods you can swallow right away. Or candies that you suck on. He can’t handle sour candy at all or he’ll cry.

Roman the Revelation:

Roman has a big issue in seeing contrast outside. Their contrast sensitivity doesn’t cause that many issues for them and you wouldn’t know unless you asked them to spot something in the background.

I mentioned it in passing in another post but their halo makes a humming noise. It’ll burn and cauterize a divot in your skin if you touch it.

Roman can control their pupil dilation. They use it mostly to control their reactions and cover up how they actually feel in public. It be a bit awkward if people saw their pupils dilate like a cats every time they saw someone bloody and beat up on the street.

🍎 RED APPLE - where was your oc born? do they still live in/around their place of birth or do they live somewhere else? how do they feel about their birthplace?

Juno was born and raised in Rapechestershire. She went to kindergarten with Whitney actually! It’s all she’s ever known, and even though she’s been on trips out of town with her father she doesn’t have enough of an emotional attachment on sex for her to really see it as different to being cornered and flirted with or propositioned in any other place. For Juno, being harassed for sex is on the same level as being cornered by vendors in tourist cities.

Luka was born on the side of the road. No further comment. He was brought to Bailey’s since it was the only orphanage nearby during that time of year that wasn’t full. The day he entered is also his birthday :) he’s a December baby. He’s not a ward of Bailey anymore since he’s one of the few who paid off his debts, but he doesn’t have the willpower to move away anymore. It’s sort of comfort in the current hell over venturing into the unknown? He’s never set a foot outside the town, he’s barely ever even been on the outskirts of the forest.

Roman was surrendered LATE. They were dropped off at a hospital at 16, both parents alive but just. Didn’t want them anymore. “I have an appointment, go and check in for me and I’ll be right out” never seen again. They didn’t have much affection for them anyways, so Roman moreso found annoyance in the way it happened. After all they were acting like an exemplary “son” weren’t they? How dare you leave them after all the effort they’ve put in. They couldn’t care less about what left them behind… but they do miss the place. Times where they got breaks or sneaking out at midnight to the fields of grass and looking up. They had it all. They just didn’t know there was more to take too, and now it’s gonna be everyone’s issue.

🍝 SPAGHETTI - what is/are your oc's favorite food(s)?

NOOOOOOO UR GONNA REVEAL HOW I HAVE NOTHING DECIDED FOR JUNO’S FAMILY. Cop out answer, her favorite food is her moms favorite dish: Dal. She grew up eating a lot of vegetarian dishes growing up. If her dad didn’t also make some foods his parents taught him then she would’ve probably grown up entirely vegetarian.

Luka really enjoys pork bulgogi. The fish tf craves meat /silly. He also just really enjoys the sensations of a food he has to chew a lot.

Roman doesn’t have the chance to be picky since they’re the only pc DoLOc… They like grilled sandwiches. It’s easy to make, plus they can get the ingredients and stretch it out for weeks while changing it up slightly so it doesn’t seem gross after a bit.

Top five fics by kudos: At the time of answering this: The Adventures of Avery Samuels: Welcome to Grimsborough (121), The Thunderbird and the Doctor (115), Take a Shot in the Dark (92), In the Darkness (82), Save You (82) - in case anyone's curous, I have 1,133 kudos across all my fics.

Do you respond to comments? I used to because I started it with The Thunderbird and the Doctor. But I don't really do that much anymore. I only reply if someone asks a question.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Probably Nothing For You Here.

What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? The Thunderbird and the Doctor since I gave my couple a happily ever after.

Do you get hate on fics? Not since I've been on AO3.

Do you write smut? Heck yeah!

Craziest crossover? Once upon a time, in my FFN days, I wrote a Loonatics Unleashed/Ben 10 crossover that I promptly abandoned. I tend to stay away from crossovers nowadays.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Unfortunately, yes. Someone took one of my fics and started posting it on Wattpad.

Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but it'd be cool if someone wanted to.

Have you ever cowritten a fic before? Way back when and it never worked out.

All-time favourite ship? Again, do shipping canon characters with my OCs count? Although, my original OTP was Ace/Lexi from Loonatics Unleashed...

What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Probably In the Darkness. I'm just finding that increasingly hard to write.

What are your writing strengths? Probably my cliffhangers. Although, I got a lot of positive reviews on my smuts, so I'd say I'm good at writing smut.

What are your writing weaknesses? I have a lot (my confidence is nonexistant)

Thoughts on dialogue in another language? As long as a translation is easily accessible, I'm cool with it. I've never written in another language, but I won't say no to the challenge.

To continue on Norse, it means ‘misty isle’. Also The Island of Skye is the one of the most beautiful of Scotland’s sights to see

So Juniper is healing, protective, funny, energetic, patient, and full of life and growth. So I can’t wait to see her character arc. And I think it’s kind of a long stretch, but due to The Island of Skye, y’know, being an island, means she’s kind of alone and cut off, but when people come to see the views there it’s beautiful and so amazing to really be there (the Island is like the most famous in Ireland but you get the idea)

Cypress - From the cypress tree. The cypress both represents everlasting life and mourning of loss. It is also a very flammable tree. In a Greek story, ‘Cyparrissus’ (another version of the name Cypress), accidentally killed his best friend and favorite companion, a trained stag, with a hunting javelin. In sadness, he transformed into a cypress tree so he could mourn eternally for his loss. This Greek character was also gay with Apollo at some point. Anyways, as a spiritual name it means natural transitions and the cycle of life

Holden - Means hold, but, fancy in old language. It also means deep valley. In the Bible, its meaning is trapped, restrained, or unable to see. Another meaning is Christian Jewish is willing, quiet, gracious, from the hollow in the valley

I swear if he accidentally kills Juniper in the story with an ax (or an unfamiliar weapon he was pushed to use more likely) I will scream and cry. Anyways, he will mourn, like a lot. But the cycle of life I guess. And he is a deep valley, so his character will get even deeper, he is a thankful, quiet, and willing guy, (absolute malewife to Juniper)

Evelyn - In the Bible, it means life light, ‘source of light and life’. In Greek and French it means desired and wished for. In German, the name was derived from the word ‘ewe’ which means, wishing well, winning, and being blessed. In Irish, it means beauty, birds, hazelnuts, and water. On a baby website, the name means intuitive, creative, and compassionate

Danvers - A dancer or acrobat. (I tried to search it up but all I got was how Danvers became a last name. But fan fact: Supergirl’s last name is Danvers)

So Evelyn has many definitions (as I kinda expected) and hey, intuitiveness and creativity while being compassionate seems like Evelyn well. And winning sounds fun. (Also I know like two Evelyns in real life, one is blonde and is a bit overprotective of their younger brother too)

Avery - Wise and whimsical, also the ruler of elves (in German). And most definitions found in forums and baby name sites do say the name just mostly means the ruler of elves (or counsel) and wisdom. The name also means leadership and nobility in the Bible. Being chosen by God, and experiencing transformation, growth, evolution, and improvement

Danvers - Originally from Norse, which traveled to mostly France and Belgium

Avery is the ruler of elves! Wow. But anyways, he grows and changes down the story (before dying sadly) and can’t wait for his arc

Harvie - Strong, worthy, carnage, determined, eager for battle. Really matches my first interpretation of her character. Hervey means illustrious warrior, army, noble, sublime, bright and shining. Harvey means, battle worthy in blazing iron. But Harvie sounds like the word harvest, which means gathering of crops

Pollock - A group of fish that is related to cods, but is a bit darker. Pollock is also slang for insulting a person of Polish birth or descent (it says it isn’t a slur though, but just a derogatory term relating to the fact the word means fish and cod). But the fish does symbolize abundance and prosperity, a vital source of food, and a provider of sustenance 

I guess this name was mostly chosen due to it sounding like the word harvest. But it’s so funny how the actual definition matches how I first thought her would be like-

Weirdo - A person whose behavior is strange or eccentric. It could also mean unconventional. Or a psychopath or somebody just not normal and unusual. Sometimes used to describe perverts in slang

Wheaton - From the wheat town. Made of wheat. Man of wheat. Wheaton is scarecrow man confirmed /jkjk

Tobin - God is good. Otherwise, the name is usually connected to Saint Aubin. But there is several versions of the name in multiple other languages/cultures

Simple boi I guess. But scarecrow symbolism, it is like a natural boogeyman, a monster. But it is also a prop to scare of birds, maybe other tributes (Evelyn’s name also means bird so Wheaton just made her go away like the scarecrow he is)

Carmen - Short form of the name, Maria del Carmen, or ‘Mary of Caramel’, which is a reference to the Holy Land. And in the Bible it means garden, orchard, and vineyard. It also means song. And it can be a reference to the Roman Goddess Carmenta. And it represents a strong, compassionate, and natural woman

Cortez - Courteous or polite. The name could also mean someone who lived as/near the court of a king or sovereign 

I think her name was mostly chosen because of the queen Carmen Sandiego to be honest. But Carmen is a strong, compassionate, natural woman, she an icon for real. And I think she is polite, to a degree, like at least not an asshole

Taurus - Is a zodiac sign that represents a bull. The most prevalent personality traits on them that were shown on google were, being intelligent, dependable, hardworking, dedicated, stubborn, patient, loyal, sensual, and devoted. Apparently they don’t sweat the small stuff, so they are calming and nice to be around. They are mentally strong and very consistent. There is so much on a zodiac sign so… not gonna say it all sorry

Rivera - Name originates from the word riverbank. Not many definitions, but it is a popular Spanish last name

Taurus is a taurus! (He’s born on the 8th of May right? Or was that Katniss’ bday?) Anyways the zodiac sign fits him (there’s probably traits of other zodiac signs that can relate to him too though) And it’s honestly just a mine of character traits positive and negative and miscellaneous when being named after a zodiac

Robin - A small bird. The robin symbolizes good luck, happiness, rebirth, renewal, growth, and new beginnings. Fun facts about robins!: They are adaptable, with a variety of nest types, such as holes, hollows, recesses, and even boxes. They are very territorial, to the point where their breast is to indicate territorial messages, they defend their territory through the year, and they can resort to killing other birds aggressively (depending on the bird)

Maverick - Unconventional and independent. One who shuns custom, a lone wolf, somebody who blazes their own trail, someone who avoids conformity

Well it would be interesting if her character makes a base in some territory and ends up killing somebody defending it. And I chose the last name Maverick, due to it meaning independence and usually looking out for only oneself

Everest - Dweller on the Eure River. It also means high point, or summit. It also represents ‘the iconic nature of what it is to be a wonder’. Like the most notable climb known to man

Sinclaire - Comes from ‘Saint Claire’. It can mean pure or renowned, and light and clear. It also means one who prays

He a dweller. And is probably somebody who can walk for very long without complaining. And maybe religious or as least believing in something

Lilith - Meaning belonging to the night. It is a feminine name for demon, spirit, and sometimes evil. On google it says it also represents: ‘rebellion, sexual liberation, independence, mystery, empowerment, resilience, transformation and the pursuit of personal freedom’

Maloret - Ill-fortuned or with bad luck. A luckless and unfortunate person

Well, Lilith was mysterious, she belonged to the night I guess. I chose the last name maloret because she seems to have bad luck. Not really having an interesting reason as compared to the other tributes. Getting to the cornucopia and still unfortunately still failing and dying (kind of because of bad luck, wrong place, wrong person, wrong time)

Harrow - To plunder or ravish. To cause worry and upset. It is a farm implement used for surface tillage. It is dragged over plowed land to break up clods, remove weeds, and cover seed. Some synonyms of the word is agonizing, torture, harass, excruciating, smite, tease, and vex 

Prairie - A plain of grassland without many trees. It also means meadows and pastures

He definitely caused worry and upset for his love. And he did die in torment or at the very least his dead body was mistreated… But I chose the last name Prairie because it also meant meadow. Most definitions said prairie meant a peaceful, calming land of nothing much but grass. So I guess he is resting peacefully waiting for his love in the meadow

Bonus!:

Marl - A loose or crumbly earth deposit. Also known as a kind of mixed soil. Sometimes fertilizer lands to help make it healthier. It is a mix of sand, silt, and clay. And it has rock forms, sedimentary

I chose this name as a first or last (or even middle name if you already had it chosen out) for Harrow’s lover. Because a harrow was used to till land/soil and help its growth of crops. Both help the soil and land in different ways, while still being different in their ways. A more man-made tool (like a richer tool like townies) and a natural help that can be used to help but with many properties and types (I dunno why I thought of the seam for this)

Hiii!! I’m Maddi, 23yrs, she/her, and I’m looking for a 21+ rp partner for an ocxoc rp on discord! An old rp partner blocked me for no reason before we started, but I really wanna use the character I made. The premise for the rp would be mxm and both of our characters are villains. My villain, Chimera, is very passionate and has a secret goal, and your villain is super chaotic and seems untrustworthy, but desperately wants to help out because he’s obsessed with Chimera. They don’t know their real identities, but they go to the same college, and are friends irl, with Avery being very into your guy’s civilian form, and secretly wishing he knew more about genuine human connection.

I want both characters to be a little possessive and obsessive in ways that make sense from traumatic backstories, and then they can grow together, and learn to be vulnerable and honest and help each other instead of just your villain obsessively helping Chimera, and Chimera obviously protecting your civilian

Some stuff about my OC!

Avery Woods:

-He/him, 20yrs, 6'

-Tons of friends and people who like him, but he keeps it light and doesn't share things about himself, no one REALLY knows him, but everyone knows who he is

-Has chronic pain and has to use a cane on some days

-Understands social norms and human interactions through what he's observed others to do, so he doesn't ever act like himself and just copies what he's seen in order to make friends. He doesn't really *know* how to be himself, or even who "himself" would be

-Keeps to himself in the winter time, if people ask why, he says "Seasonal depression" and doesn't elaborate past that

-Gets frequent nightmares and occasional panic attacks, but tells no one.

-Psychology major, says he's pursuing this in order to help his mentally ill father that he speaks very highly of

Chimera (villain form):

-Shapeshifter, can transform into animals and people, but people are a lot more work because they require lots of observation and preparation in order to get mannerisms and speech correct

-Very serious and cold

-A HUGE planner, he's always thinking twelve steps ahead, and doesn't share all of his plans, preferring to keep it mysterious, so he's always in the power position.

-Very frustrated by chaos and unexpected things, because he tries to be so prepared, and hates being caught off guard

-A lot more honest than his civilian form, speaks very poorly of his family, especially his father, but rarely shares specifics or details

-Clearly has a goal in mind, but lots of early plans don't seem to connect to each other, he's very hard to get a read on, and seems to find joy in being hard to understand

-A bit full of himself and very VERY sure of his eventual success

In general:

-Sometimes his features seem off, like something changed and you can't put your finger on what's different about his face

-Unaware of his own mannerisms, and is used to copying others, so sometimes he seems odd

-Touch averse on instinct and will pull away, but also touch-starved

I love complex characters and complicated relationships, and I'm cool w dark themes, but I don't rp nsfw content (totally fine w brainstorming nsfw ideas and the characters mentioning or talking about nsfw stuff, I just don't rp actual sexual interactions since I’m in a relationship and it would feel weird)

I rp on discord, and tend to get very invested in ocs so I might spam ideas and scenarios, and I'm an artist so I tend to draw my character ref and doodle silly stuff from rp (my drawing tablet’s broken right now though, so it may be a while before I can draw), so it'd be fun if you were an artist too, but definitely not required. I tend to match reply length, I'm not very picky about it, but decent grammar and punctuation would be good. I want to rp with someone who loves brainstorming and gets super invested in characters like I do, lets be CRAZY together! 👀
