Do you have any favorite crimson peak fics you're open to sharing? I love any possible dynamics, the ot3, Edith/Lucille, Edith/Thomas either or both Sharpes/reader. I really want some fics to read and I feel like you'd have some of the best recs

So many! I've done a few rec posts already, so I'll link those below. (No "X/reader" fics, because I'm not a fan of those- and anyway, I'd want Edith/Reader, if anything. And nobody writes that for some reason. Seriously, am I the only lesbian who's thirsty for Edith? If so, is everyone else blind?)

Most of them are OT3 or Edith/Lucille, but a few are just Sharpecest. Pure Edith/Thomas isn't usually my thing, since it generally comes with a heaping helping of Lucille Hate(TM). That being said, an OT3-verse oneshot about Edith and Thomas Shenanigans could be fun!

I finally got my ao3 account. (Yay!) But I have a problem. Every time I try to log in it keeps saying that my session has ended. After refreshing the page, trying to log in again, and clearing the cookie cache on both my computer and my phone nothing changes. I thought it might be the internet connection but it’s been fine for all other apps and websites.

I don’t really have a clue what I’m doing when I deal with computers or similar things so I might be doing something wrong that is glaringly obvious to you. If so, PLEASE TELL ME.

At the bookstore, the child insisted that she needs highlighters and a bookmark. He can reason with highlighters but really if she wants to color she can get actual colors? And a bookmark? This child can’t read yet, she has no need for a bookmark.

It was a long battle of trying to convince her, but eventually she settled on a fuzzy notebook with its matching pen.

heyy bff (why r u smoking here?? this is a smoke free zone) i love answering questions, especially silly ones <3 and i happened to very much enjoy my annual daddy kink check-in lol. also it always makes me giggle when people refer to me as cornflowerblue like that's my government name <3

so, i will say that, in My Youth (trademark), i def was very anti daddy kink because it was just so often used in ways that I did Not vibe with (like the inherent infantilization of one character and also the fact that when they used it w/ Ashton they always made him super dominant and borderline abusive and like :( that is not my man i have never seen that man before in my life). so, like, i think it's a valid question because there's a bit of ~nuance~ to it.

i also tend to not use it in my fics bc 1) while I'm not anti daddy kink, it's def not something that i personally seek out so i don't really have a desire to include it and 2) i know it can be very polarizing and i don't want to potentially make an otherwise very run of the mill fic inaccessible for someone. honestly, i think the only fic I have up right now that really talks about daddy kink is Made in Magnolia?? bc Cal has one. i will say tho, this ask kind of made me want to try my hand at including it in smthn.

i really do, at my core, think that almost any kink (with a few exceptions) can be written well !! and I'm never opposed to trying one out in writing :)

of course you can't translate ginger and brigitte's dynamic onto tommyandarthur: there's a glaring difference between teen girls on the cusp of sexual maturity and the anxiety that comes with it (plus The Subtext) and these two wretched middle aged men, but there's potentially something werewolf-like about arthur's alternatingly predatory and victimized sexuality, how he both relishes in the lack of control and the violence and the power while being ashamed of it, too, etc, if you adequately tweak it to make it work for an adult male character you can still maintain these elements of sexual abuse and incest, and of course if one were to make it about literal lycanthropy, arthur *would* (selfishly, lovingly) try to bite tommy in order to make them the same once again (who would survive that sort of separateness? not them anyway)

and them not being young anymore, but around their canon ages with the awareness that All That Already happened to them as children adds something to it, me thinks

I share so you can see the colors of my crazy. Each color is a different thing my brain decided I need to write this month. (And some notes on a shared universe)

What should I be doing? Finding new/more beta readers for the final version of Weald and Wen, pricing editors, taking another pass at the cover, working out how to send people bookmarks with their purchase of the book--finishing the bookmarks--and getting my big, terribly personal fantasy novel published.

But no. I wrote three whole other books to procrastinate actually publishing the one I've had in my head for over twenty years.

I'm not even revising those other books.

I'm writing new ones.

Not feeling great reading more into the Lackadaisy drama; The facts seem to suggest that one crew member has had a deep grudge against Spindle Horse for a while, being ridiculously rude commenting a the post where Viv announced Spindle Horse was donating $5k (If nothing else, if someone gives you that kind of money, your response shouldn't be "Ugh, you couldn't be bothered to link the fundraiser you just gave a ton of money to?"), to apparently saying it was all a "plot to get her claws into lackadaisy" ($5k was literally one of your pledge levels, and it was the entire SH team agreeing to donate), and now it seems like the donation was rejected for no reason; Then the Lackadaisy crew started blocking tons of random people, including people who they've worked with who also happened to work on HH/HB. That's the biggest bummer; Literally until less than a few days ago, the entire Spindle Horse team and their Fandom have been close to the Lackadaisy team and fans. People who worked on Helluva boss and Hazbin worked on Lackadaisy and vice versa; Sam Haft, the guy behind some of Helluva Boss's great music even mentioned how all of a sudden some Lackadaisy team members started treating SH crew like they were "us vs them" rivals. This just sucks for indie animation; I haven't seen anyone talk much about it, but the Hazbin and HB Fandom's were super excited for lackadaisy too, for another win for indie animation, but some people decided to use lackadaisy to try and tear HB down by pitting them against each other. Spindle Horse has faced so many bad faith criticisms, false accusations, and mountain out of molehill situations, and this is just getting them dragged back out no matter how many times they've been debunked or explained or apologized when something actually was wrong. Not even Spindle Horse EMPLOYEES OUTRIGHT STATING they are not being abused or underpaid, or former employees saying the same thing, is considered trustworthy enough to people trotting out the same arguments. This whole situation literally just seems like a small group of Lackadaisy people have a petty grudge that they made BOTH studio's problem.

The thing about that is, well...

I…fell like I need to give a little disclaimer here: When it comes to fanfic I am both unpleasable and unreasonable. I have impossible, exacting standards for fiction of all kinds and a longstanding alliance with my back button. I am a goddamn fanfic cat, turning up my nose at anything that's not EXACTLY to my liking. It's too hot, it's too cold, it smells funny, it's too emotional, it's not emotional enough, the characters are OOC, the characters aren't pushed far enough out of their comfort zone, the prose is too simple, the prose is too flowery, the formatting is hard to read, the dialogue's not right, is that a GRAMMATICAL ERROR, etc etc.

That said, I can probably scrounge up some recs...

OK I guess I can start with one I can't even start to pretend to be unbiased about: 2hoots! Especially the Junior Agent Case Files and ESPECIALLY especially The Paris Affair. I have beta'd for him as he has beta'd for me, and I love watching his stuff come together behind the scenes because it's all great. Also a card carrying member of the Norma Natividad Defense Squad, which certainly appeals to me personally. (There are dozens of us! DOZENS!!!)

Psychic Scouts Shouldn’t Apply Hair Dye Unsupervised by KibaSniper. KibaSniper has one metric fuckton of Psychonauts fic and I'm not going to go through them all individually. I'm singling this one out in particular because I like small moments between the Natividad sisters. If that isn't to your liking...well, there's enough there with enough variety that the odds are in your favor.

Pit Stop by fizzysugarwrites. The interns and the Aquatos are uniquely suited for a Band AU and this one nails the character interactions quite handily. The dialogue crackles and the character interplays are so much fun. This is one that you need to be logged in to see, but I'm assuming that at this point most people have an AO3 account that wants one.

Snow Day by the_angst_alchemist. Just a cute little scene of Raz getting to enjoy a snow day with the interns. Doesn't need to be more than that, yeah?
