Wanna talk about Bloodweave and the spawn siblings, specifically how Astarions siblings would interact with Gale in that ending where they settle down in the under dark (and gale starts a vampire book club 🤓)

(DISCLAIMER Since don't know too much about Astarions siblings (more so than others) , alot of this is just me having fun and assigning character traits to them according to how I imagine my game went)

Starting with these two!

Dalyria:

I think these two would get along incredibly well! I can see them talking for hours about their respective (sometimes morally dubious) research, boring absolutely anyone within earshot. I think they could bond over some questionable decisions they've made (gale with the orb And Dal with trying to cure her vampirism with Victoria.) and find comfort in one another . Especially since I HC gayle saves Victoria in game but more on that in Leon's section. Out of all the siblings, Dal is the only one Astarion trusts to leave gale alone with.

Also think Dals research leads to gale finding a way for astarion and the others to walk in the sun again. I don't think she joins the book club tho bc Leon is often there and well... Y'know awkward... But gale does leave a book on her desk from time to time.

Petras:

ahh the spawn I love thinking about post game the most bc I think Petras develops a big crush on Gale. I see it being pretty gradual tbh, He doesn't like Gale at first because he's Astarions and Petras has made it a habit to dislike everything about his "older brother" thank you very much (even though I think petras entire coping mechanism is to badly copy everything about astarion bc he subconsciously thinks it was the only way to survive his enslavement, hence they way he talks and Astarions fucking EA outfit, he stole it from Astarions trunk when he disappeared I just know it) .

So yeah I think it's a few months of Petras being huffy around this handsome annoying wizard while Gale continues to be nice to him. One day Gale offers to teach petras magic (he's a teacher by heart!) much like the canon weave scene and it ends with Gale genuinely but naively exclaiming "You're a natural! Why, you've picked it even faster than Astarion did!"

This is cataclysmic.

It's the first fucking time Petras has been better than Astarion in anything. Petras is immediately heart eyes and obnoxiously smug. Astarion is murderous. Leon and Dal stop a murder. Gale is sent to sleep on the couch.

Any potential brotherly reconcilation is destroyed by Astarion overhearing Petras telling Dal that when Astarion fucks this up then Petras will swoop in and marry Gale. Violet begins to cackle as all of her siblings hold Astarion ,whose now willing to lose an arm, back from dragging Petras to the surface

Petras joins the book club just bc Gale's leading it. He does not read anything but pesters Yousen for answers so he can look smart in front of Gale.

Hearing these words said by Astarion in act1 with such pain, about a vampire giving their blood to their spawn (=one they sired), only to - once the relationship becomes deep, and he genuinely falls in love - in act3, let Tav drink his blood during night of turning, is such a beautiful and romantic subversion of expectation.

Every replay I see the pain with which he says it - the idea of making "a competitor"... Yet, upon Ascenscion, Tav isn't a separate, you/me. It's "us", "ours", "we". (I probably should replay UA route despite how sad, as I don't recall if he also uses "we" so much - or if he still separates as before confession, pretending...) He clearly sees things differently than Cazador, breaking from such cycles - Tav is his beloved, not "other, competition". One-ness. It is such good narration through vocabulary choices.

Either way, when Astarion is at his best, most powerful - subverting the trope of "vampires don't make competition", is extremely good writing for romance genre route; to show his character growth and deep, vampiric love - much more than a mortal's, eternal. And if Tav doesn't fall to "selfish" vampiric feelings (=being mean and asking to leave, to be "competition" instead of "one")... Well, their love - trust - to each other is one of the most beautiful I've seen in many stories . <3

magistrate astarion with an unknown drow woman. rumour has it that they’ve met each other at the night of the lumberg manor scandal and have been inseparable ever since. no information can be found on the drow… maybe she’s one of mamzell amira’s new girls?

anyway. more of the murder mystery au but this time with the hags 🙂‍↕️🤭 their whole plot is basically them planning to kill one (1) guy but accidentally unveiling this decades long city scale murder conspiracy

going as long as possible with Astarion as your only party member (and playing dark urge) is probably one of the funniest early-game experiences there is

Imagine: random chance frees you from 200 years of slavery and you team up with this random, extremely bad vibes stranger for "protection," except each of you is completely convinced the other might kill you in your sleep (one of you has horrifyingly worrying intrusive thoughts and the other has already pulled a knife at least once). You dont have 20 strength between you. You can barely protect each other but at least this random freak is SOMEONE and you need SOMEONE or Cazador will find you and grab you. So you attach yourself at the hip and try to ignore the way this strange amnesiac mutters "blood" to himself when he thinks you're not listening

and OK, you think, the other guy hasn't killed me yet and he definitely has had ample opportunity, but you're SO THIRSTY and neither of you have slept through the night yet because you're too busy keeping watch on one another, so maybe he's finally tired enough that you can just take a little bite while he's--oh shit

I spent three days like this. It was a delightful little interlude and everyone should try it
