Twisted Wonderland the Novel: Yuuya's First Class
After retrieving the magestone, being assigned the role of "beastmaster" by Crowley and being permitted to attend school as one-half a student (with Grim), Yuuya shows up to his very first class at Night Raven College, and it is just as awkward as the high school he left back home.
--
The early-morning classroom is busy and bustling, much as classrooms were back in Yuuya’s own world.
‘Hey—look over there.’
‘Is that the guy from the opening ceremonies? That monster that ran wild and got kicked out is here, too’
‘You haven’t heard? After school on Friday, in the cafeteria…’
The students stare at where Yuuya and Grim sit on the classroom’s far side and gossip together in whispered tones.
‘Nyahaha, they can't keep their eyes off me. It’s hard bein’ popular.’
‘That’s definitely not it…’
‘Huh?’
Downcast and uncomfortable, Yuuya hears a familiar voice. He raises his head to the sight of a heart and a spade.
‘Well if it ain't Ace and Deuce.’ Grim says as they take the empty seats directly in front of himself and Yuuya. ‘What are you two doin' here?’
‘That’s our line. What, you guys got put into our class?’
‘Eh? So that means…’
‘Ace and I are in Class A, too. This makes us all classmates.’ Seeing the look upon Yuuya’s face, Deuce reaches out a hand to pat him on the shoulder. ‘It’ll be all right. You’re nervous because it’s your first day, right? Yesterday’s classes were just introductions and general rundowns—you shouldn’t have any problem starting a day late.’
‘Deuce. Can you drop the goody-goody, class-leader-wannabe act? Truth is, you’re kind of an idiot.’
‘Who’s the idiot here!’
‘Yuu, before you go to him and get into even worse trouble, come to me, first. We don’t need any more problems like yesterday.’
‘Ah, mm.’
In front of the companionable Ace and smiling Deuce, Yuuya becomes even more uncomfortable.
He is grateful to them both. He could have been killed but they saved his life, and it is only because of their cooperation that he has been able to enroll at Night Raven College.
If he had gone alone into the mine for a magestone he would have—best case scenario—become hopelessly lost.
‘As if we need the two of you. He’s fine as long as he’s got me!’
‘Big words, tanuki.’
But no matter how hard he tries, Yuuya cannot figure out how to have a natural conversation with classmates. Even in his former world he never joined in on any pre-class interactions. Yuuya has been actively distancing himself from others for so long that he even giving a light-hearted reply when asked a question is too difficult, let alone participating in the casual banter that now surrounds him.
And, to be honest, he is still a little frightened of Ace. If he tries to react with some light-hearted response, Ace might laugh at him and say, ‘You thought I was being serious?’, like he did when they first met.
After some hesitation, Yuuya bows his head and says, ‘Thank you’. His smile is a little awkward, perhaps, but it is the best that he can do. ‘I'll do that.’*
Ace opens his mouth to respond, but in that same moment there is the loud sound of the classroom door being thrown open, and Ace turns around to face the front.
‘Good morning, puppies.’
--
*This word is actually yoroshiku, which has so much significance here. Here it is Yuuya accepting Ace's invitation to join their group and keep up their companionship. But the word just doesn't exist in English :<

Head cannon corner time!
So ramshackle dorm uh. Welp I decided to rewrite lore for it (I'm saying rewrite cause I'm sure they're lore somewhere about it but my poor gremlin ass can't find it).
Tumblr media
Founded on the Unanimity of the All-being of Brimstone.
Fancy right? Well I wanted to pick a villain that's not micky mouse. I mean it doesn't really suit NRC. I could see the mouse being part of RSA but not here. Instead I replaced it with Cherabog from Fantasia. He actually makes a lot of references in various other shows too. He's explained as a demon (this is the reason for the brimstone mention) which I hc don't exist in Twisted Wonderland instead likely taking the form of a powerful fae with horns.
This dorm tends to include beastmasters or summoners as their main people (similar to how savannaclaw mostly gets beastmen and diasomia fae). Due to their ability to get others working together.
^ Just like Yuu/MC is doing throughout the entire game. Also cause Chernabog is known for summoning creatures.
Rather than being a standard Seven, he's said to be the leader and connect all the dorms together.
^ lore for the reason why Ramshackle doesn't have a mirror since it's on the main grounds. Also a reference to the fact that Chernabog is said to be the greatest villain within disney.
Also dorm colors is a inky blue and an orange similar to the coloring of their founder.
Tumblr media
Anways! Let me know what ya'll think or edits? Hell build off of it!
If you use some of this in writing or art let me know I'd love to check it out <3

Expectations When Expecting (Prologue)
Chapter 18
Chapter 19:
"Pardon?! You're telling me you actually went to the Dwarfs' Mine in search of a magestone?" Crowley yelped, looking over the students in surprise.
"Yes." What a unanimous answer from the confused teens regarding the absurd question of the Headmage. Yuu nodded when he'd looked over to her.
"I didn't expect that you'd seriously do it." The Headmage stated incredulously. "And never in my wildest imaginings did I think you would actually return with a magestone!" He looked over, wincing at the stern glare on Yuu's face, opting to ignore it.
"And here I spent all evening preparing your expulsion documents." He muttered, earning himself an angry yowl from Grim.
"Are you serious?! While we were fightin' some crazy monster for you, you were expelling us?!"
Those words seemed to freeze the Crow-man in place as he slowly turned to look at the cat. "I beg your pardon... 'Monster'...?" His glowing eyes examined the small cuts across Yuu's face, face contorting into horror.
"Yeah. There was a monster, all right." Ace pushed past her, chest puffed out angrily. "A big, nasty one. It nearly killed us!"
Crowley looked at her one last time before speaking. "Would you kindly relate this story in full?"
.
.
.
To say that they'd stunned Crowley into silence was an understatement. The Headmage stared blankly for a couple minutes, eyes wide in surprise.
"... So a mysterious monster was living in the mines," He began, a bit weary of the subject. "And the four of you worked together to destroy it, and then brought its magestone back to me?"
"I- I don't know that I'd call it 'working together.'" Ace denied, quickly joined by Deuce.
"Yeah! It was more like we just happened to share the same goal at the same time..."
Yuu bit back a smile. However exhausted she was, the awkward responses from the boys was always amusing.
Seemingly out of nowherre, Crowley released a loud wail. "Oh, gracious... Ohhh... Ohhhhhhhh!" He began to sob, surprising Yuu, who rushed to attempt to console the crying man.
She got stopped, however, due to the tug on her pant leg by Grim. "What is this guy's deal?! Burstin' into tears in public? At this age?!"
"Grim." She hissed. "Don't be rude."
"In all the decades I've worked at this school..." Crowley blubbered. "The day has finally come when the students of Night Raven College have joined hands together to defeat a common foe!"
"Whoa! No! No way would I join hands with that guy!" Deuce cried, horrified.
"Okay, one, there was no joining of hands. Gross." Ace retorted, equally as horrified.
"It's a figure of speech boys." She mentioned.
"Yeah, okay. Whatever. I knew that. And two, exactly HOW old are you, headmage?" Ace continued, dismissive of Yuu's earlier comment.
"At this moment, I am moved beyond words." The headmage stated, deliberate of his dismissal of the question. Oof. Age is a touchy subject, it seems...
"This incident has proven my hopes were justified." Crowley preened, turning toward her proudly.
Uh oh.
"Yuu, my doubts are allayed! For you... You possess the talents of a beastmaster!" He announced, looking over her, making sure that she wasn't in danger.
"A beastmaster...? Wait, what was the part before that?"
"My students have all been selected by the Dark Mirror for their exceptional talent and potential. But great talent begets great pride and big egos." Ha! Tell me about it...
"Most are so self-reliant and self-centered that they never even consider cooperating with others." Crowley smiled, noticing how Yuu smirked at Ace and Deuce, both of which found the floor suddenly rather interesting.
"You make it sound like that's a bad thing." Grim snorted.
"But you, my dear, possess no magic. Yet in spite of that - or perhaps because of it - you were able to convince those who CAN use magic to work together for a common goal." Crowley seemed excited.
"The everyday, humdrum mundanity you possess may be exactly what Night Raven College needs!" He smiled at her, ignoring the look of insult.
"I beg your pardon-" She began.
"But... none of those words are good things?" Ace cut her off, completing her sentence.
"Yuu... I am convinced that people like you are necessary for the future of this school. My educator's intuition tells me so." Crowley announces. "Trappola, Spade - I hereby revoke your pending expulsions!"
Ace and Deuce pumped their fists in the air, puffing their chests out proudly as if to play off their joy. Good for them. I'm glad they didn't get expelled.
"Furthermore, Yuu..." Crowley's voice cut through the atmosphere. "I am granting you the qualifications necessary to attend Night Raven College!"
The group's eyes widened in surprise. "WHAT?!" They collectively cried, staring at the headmage.
"Sir?! You do remember my current... condition. Correct?" She asked, her eyes shooting to her abdomen. Sir. I'm pregnant! I can't keep this a secret forever. What are you doing?!
Crowley nodded, giving her a wink as if he were doing her a favor. "Of course. This is extraordinarily kind of me." He's actually insane!
Crowley's smile still remained bright as he mentioned something. "There is one condition, however... Your inability to use magic is, for a mage, unacceptable. You would not be able to adequately pursue the school's curriculum!" The crow-man's eyes trained on Grim, who stood confused before him.
"As for you, Grim... Your actions today have made it clear that you possess sufficient talent to become a mage." He announced, earning the disbelieving stare from Grim.
"In light of the total sum of your respective circumstances, you and Yuu will share a single enrollment at Night Raven College."
Yuu paused for a moment, noticing how Grim's eyes seemed to light up. Ah, so that's your game? Fair enough.
Grim let out a please meow, tail swishing excitedly. "I... I'll get to go to this school...? As an actual student? Not a janitor?!"
Yuu and Crowley both nodded.
"Correct. However!" Crowley looked at Yuu, addressing her as he dumped more responsibility on her shoulders. "There must be no further incidents like the one that occurred today. Are we clear?"
She looked at the cat who bounced with childish delight at the news. "If it'll make Grim happy... then I agree to your terms, Headmage."
"Yuu, I... I finally..." Grim seemed to tear up for a moment before he hopped into her arms.
"Congrats! It'll be a pleasure working with you, oh Great Grim." She smiled as he celebrated.
"I FINALLY DID IT!" He cried. Crowley motioned for Yuu to put the cat monster down. She did as instructed, placing him on the Headmage's desk before stepping back to watch curiously.
"Accordingly, I will now present to Grim the magestone that is issued to every student here."
Grim paused in his celebrations, looking confused as he asked about the magestone.
"It is typically attached to the "magic pen" that each student uses." Crowley informed. "But I suspect your paws cannot handle implements. Therefore, I have a custom solution for you."
Yuu's eyes widened as she saw the purple stone attached to a collar that had materialized when the Headmage had waved his hand over Grim's neck.
"My... Is it possible that I am, in fact, too kind?" Crowley inquired, tapping his golden claw against his chin as he pondered.
Grim looked down, mesmerized by the new collar, admiring its appearance against his chest. "Ah, sweet! I look awesome! A magestone collar, to be worn only by the legendary archmage, Grim!"
Crowley looked at Grim. "... You're not listening to anything I say, are you?"
"Very well... Yuu. As you can plainly see, Grim remains oblivious to the customs of human society."Crowley informed her. I know where you're going with this, and I don't like it...
"You are to keep a tight rein on Grim, and ensure there are no further incidents!" Crowley stated, as Yuu looked at him, stone faced.
"Yes sir."
"Wow, that's quite the promotion. From janitor to student to prefect, all in the span of a day." Ace teased, earning himself a playful punch to the arm.
"Hush." She awkwardly scolding the ginger.
"Oh, I see. So if your dorm is just you two..." Deuce reasoned. "And the headmage himself is putting you in charge of Grim, that makes you... the dorm prefect."
"Well, that's gotta be a Night Raven first! A magic-less prefect? But sure, why not? Whatever works!" Ace smirked at her, poking her side and making her yelp while snickering.
"I'm not really sure I'm cut out for this..." She stated, uncomfortable.
"Good luck to you, Prefect. Let's see that same spirit you showed us in the Dwarfs' Mine!" Deuce stated, holding out his fist for her. She gave him a smile, allowing the boy a fist bump.
"Ah, Yes. I suppose that does make you a prefect." Crowley's mind seemed to be doing flips as he was apparently making a lot of his stuff up. "I just so happen to have a job for you, and that title will make it all the easier to foist... er, I mean, congratulations!"
Yuu narrowed her eyes, the Headmage dismissing his previous slip up. "Now, I have something for you. This is called a ghost camera."
He offered her a strange, polaroid-esque camera. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, examining its vintage features, and the familiar shape of the lens. "... Ghost?"
"Ooh, my grandma's told me about those. Those are, like, super old magic items, right?" Ace chimed, looking at the camera with interest.
"I would hardly consider them 'super old'." Crowley cleared his throat before promptly admitting the age of the camera.
"It enables the user to photograph not just the subject's physical form, but parts of their soul itself." Crowley concluded by including the camera's purpose.
"... Sir, did you just provide me with a soul-eating camera?" Yuu deadpanned.
"Wait, that sounds... sketchy." Deuce agreed.
"No, no! Nothing like that! They're called Memories." He explained. "When the soulbond between photographer and subject deepens... The Memories captured in this magic camera's photos come jumping out!"
"Jumping out?!" She yelped, looking at the camera with sight fear.
"Yes! When the photographer and subject grow closer, their photographs grow animated like videos... And sometimes the photographs take on corporeal form and slip out. " Crowley chirped excitedly. "Is that not what you youths would call 'wicked keen'?"
"Sir, with all due respect, never say that again." She remarked, earning a couple of snickers from the boys.
Deuce chimed in almost immediately. "That almost sounds like ghost photography!"
"Very astute. Hence the name 'ghost camera'."Crowley said slowly as Deuce seemed to state the obvious.
"I understand it was developed as a more vivid way to capture moments in time, in an age before video." Crowley mentioned, earning himself a look from Yuu. "As Spade observed, in days of yore, when people saw Memories jumping out of photos, they would get spooked and yell, 'Ghost!'"
"This tech sounds like way more trouble than it's worth." Ace deadpanned.
Yuu examined the strange camera. "It's basically like a magical polaroid, I guess? Either way, it shouldn't be too hard to use." She remarked, tracing the mouse-like shape on the front.
"My dear." Crowley stated, startling the young woman out of her thoughts. "I would like you to photograph Grim and the other students with this camera, and make a record of your campus life."
Yuu gave a nod, giving into Crowley's antics.
"Sounds like the perfect way to immortalize all my finest moments!" Grim laughed loudly.
Crowley cleared his throat, almost as if to refocus their attention onto him. "Make especially certain to capture the mischief caused by certain students who struggle with impulse control."
"... You want me to catch chaos on camera? Really?" Yuu raised an eyebrow at Crowley, who turned away to avoid her gaze.
"Well... Keeping a photographic journal sounds far less tedious than writing me lengthy reports, wouldn't you agree? As a prefect, consider it your duty to maintain a sharp eye on your surroundings and record them." Crowley took a breath before turning to face her once more.
"Note how generous I'm being in providing a rare magical item that even someone like yourself can use. Is my kindness not beyond all reckoning?"
Yuu resisted the urge to roll her eyes, simply bowing her head slightly. "Yes... Thank you sir."
Crowley's hand was placed gently on her shoulder, Yuu becoming hyper aware of the false metal claws on his fingers.
"The hour has grown late, so further details shall have to wait till the morrow." He informed, as if sensing her fatigue, allowing her to be dismissed. It wasn't like she was going to be able to sleep, but it's the thought that counts.
"You are all dismissed. Return to your dorms."Crowley stated, ushering the group out of his office.
Deuce crowed out a, "Goodnight sir!" Before leaving ahead of her.
Yuu turned to take her leave before the familiar hand stopped her.
"Miss Yuu... I have something to help with your condition." Crowley mentioned softly. Yuu turned to him, her eyes wide with surprise as she saw a glass bottle of what appeared to be a type of fizzy drink.
"It is a lemon-ginger ale. I had read that it would help with the nausea. I do hope this helps you." He chirped.
Yuu's eyes widened before she gave him a small, touched smile. "Thank you sir. Have a good night." She uttered before turning and making her way out of the office.

Hi, this might be a weird, impossible even, request, depending on whether you can comprehend what he is saying really, but do you happen to know what exactly Crowley mutters during prologue episode 7, after he notes Yuu's "beastmaster" talent? If not then no worries haha, I was just curious is all.
Sure! I’ve seen that this line is often brought up when discussing Yuu’s gender in the JP fandom; I’d rather not continue that debate here but please use this as you will 🙇‍♀️
まあ、どう見てもこのか弱さは猛獣使いでも猛獣にパックリとやられてしまう
Well, no matter how I see it, even if someone this weak was a beast tamer, the beast would just gobble them right up
何というか○○女性的な感じがする
(one word here I can’t understand) They seem a little feminine
Some posts I found suggest the missing word might be 「しかし」 or 「少し」. Either way, the overall meaning would stay the same- just slightly different nuances.

[twst] Prologue 7: Warm-hearted Principal!
Tumblr media
Prologue ~Welcome to the Villains' World~ Prologue 7: Warm-hearted Principal!
At the Ramshackle Dorm ‘s hallway
Grim: Huff... huff... How's that!?
Crowley: For there to be a human who could make monsters obey them... Hmm... actually, I've had my educator's intuition tingling ever since the uproar during the opening ceremony... That you, Yuu-san, probably have the makings of a trainer or a beastmaster. However... grumble, grumble...
→ Can you let Grim live in this house with me? → Grim wants to enter this academy.
Crowley: What did you say? Let a monster live here?
Grim: You...
→  Please! →  It's scary if ghosts appear again, anyways.
Crowley: ...Sigh... There's no helping it. Alright.
Grim: Funa!? Really!?
Crowley: However. There's no way I can let someone who weren't chosen by the Mirror of Darkness... a monster, at that, to enroll into the school. You too, Yuu-san. I cannot let you to just freeload until you can go back to your own world.
Grim: What's with that... that was a  short-lived joy.
Crowley: Well, listen to me until I finish talking. We, the academy, are also responsible for the summoning of your soul, as the one owning the Mirror of Darkness. In any case, for the time being, we will offer you this lodging for free. However, we'll have you pay for your living necessities by yourself. As for what someone empty-handed like you can give... fufu, that's right. Let's do it like this.
→  Gulp... →  What in the world will you make me do?
Crowley: You don't have to be that on guard. I'm only going to make you do odd jobs like maintenance within the school. Judging from your appearance, Yuu-san, you seem to be quite good at cleaning. For starters, what about you two teaming up as the "handymen"? If you do that, I will give you a special permission to stay inside the school. I will also permit you to use the library to gather information on ways to go back to your world, as well as to study. I am kind, after all. However, it is only after you finish your work.
Grim: Eeh~!? I don't wanna! I also want to wear that cool uniform and become a student!
Crowley: If you're unsatisfied, then it's alright. We only have to throw you out again.
Grim: Funa!? Go-got it! I only have to do that, right!
→  Understood. →  There's no helping it...
Crowley: Very well. Then, you two. Starting tomorrow, work hard as Night Raven College's handymen!

Shun: Scavenger. Shun seeks treasure and often goes traveling for it, finding himself in trouble often. He never steals from others, only looking for what has been hidden in the world.
Souma: Alchemist. He has extensively studied magic and the art of alchemy, preferring to craft his spells, as he cannot draw on power from within to perform it.

Souh: Inquisitor. His talents as one allow him to see through illusion magic and anything hidden from him. Souh can sense lies and secrets, trusting his innate emotions. This also makes him an excellent person to have in town.
Touru: Cavalier. He greatly admires his captain and aspires to be his right-hand man. He is skilled with sword and lance, and he is working on military tactics and horse riding. He’s rumored to overwork himself.
Hideki: Engineer. He is working to develop tools for the non-arcane and magical so that they are able to hold their own. A former blacksmith, he is a skilled inventor and good with his hands.
Suzuki: Skald. His voice is heavenly. When he sings, people are instantly struck by his abilities. He is for-hire, but never stays in one place long - he has to travel and be on the move. Knows more stories than any storyteller.
Yamato: Bard. His skills with multiple instruments are the results of a magical power from within, so when he plays... his magic enchants those around him. However, his powers are naturally stronger with guitar from using it so often.
Kyouya: Knight. He is a strong captain and leader, and in return, the legions of his soldiers respect him. Adept with a lance and prefers it over other weapons. His strength comes from diligence and training.
Takeru: Evangelist. Characterized as a peaceful class that tries to convert enemies to their side, Takeru uses the power of words over that of fighting. However, he has accidentally developed a skill of dodging death from his profession...
Haruka: Healer. Haruka had been studying healing arts all his life and sells his services to those who need it. Hailed as an amazing healer, people come from all over to see him.

Sousuke: Sniper. Sousuke showed great promise from his youth and was pushed into archery training, and now he knows nothing but archery. However, he is incredibly talented and charges much for his services.
Kei: Assassin. With perfected ninja abilities, Kei has mastered disguises and multiple killing arts. He can infiltrate, complete his mission, and leave before he’s even suspected.
Takahiro: Merchant. Takahiro knows what people need and can get it. He’s made a tidy profit from the entire affair, but still delivers his own goods instead of outsourcing to others.
Katsuo: Druid. Katsuo is a water-based elemental and has the ability to transform into a dolphin or shark, among others. He was the start of mermaid rumors when he experimented with transforming just half of his body.
Ryuu: Wyvern Lord. He wields an axe and has an intense strength and power over his enemies. He has been with his wyvern since birth, and the two are incredibly close.
Kurou: Magician/Trickster. He is able to summon non-magical illusions and gimmicks to confuse enemy parties. Kurou also doubles as an entertainer with his abilities. Very flamboyant in his acts both on and off the field.
Viktor: Necromancer. Viktor became fascinated with raising the dead due to a incident in his youth - and now specializes in the craft. His powers are strongest at night and he is able to raise the deceased with immense power.
Itsuki: Thief. Growing up without being noticed and in the slums, he learned to steal rather quickly. Itsuki’s skills come in handy once his skills are noticed, but he feels somewhat guilty each time.
Jae: Adventurer. Jae is a traveller, and is adept at learning new skills. From dancing to singing, to swordplay to bow work, he is a jack of all trades, master of none. He takes great pride in all his varied abilities.
Seiichi: Tactician. Seiichi points out flaws in military tactics, creates safety nets, and comes up with all the alternate plans. He might be emotionless, but that is because he refuses to trust his gut and depends on solely logic.
This is a blend of Fire Emblem classes, general RPG classes, and ones I looked up to find more. They were picked based on outfits, general talents, and/or personalities of characters. I hope you think these are good, Anon!
