Reviewing New Year Sale Outfits in Twisted Wonderland

In Japan, New Year's Day (お正月, or "Oshogatsu") is the biggest holiday of the year, and it is also my favorite. That being said, the TWST artists never disappoint when it comes to the art for this event, so let's review all of the cards!

Spoiler warning for upcoming ENG and JP sever event cards, including some Groovy art!

Round 1: 2021-2022

Kalim Al-Asim (SSR)

Look at him, he's so festive and cheerful

This Kalim, as well as Deuce's SR, have a special place in my heart. I started playing TWST the summer it came out, but I wasn't a "serious" player until around New Year. Kalim and Deuce were my first "duo magic" pair, and I love their interactions in the story as well.

I love his headband ribbon and how it matches his obi. The sparkly hakama also suits him. I'm excited to see Jamil's version of this outfit as well, but we all know it'll be a very long time until Jamil volunteers to work retail during the peak season.

12/10 he's so cute

Deuce Spade (SR)

I was surprised that this was just an SR, and that you could get him by finishing the event story. His outfit is so detailed!

I chose his Groovy art so you could see that he's wearing sneakers with his outfit, which I found funny. Cater is wearing similar shoes in his own SR, so it must be part of the Heartslabyul New Year attire. It still feels very in-character for Deuce.

The silhouette of his outfit is interesting. His jacket is short like a suit jacket, but has the sleeves of a haori. There are lots of elements of his dorm uniform, like the pins and sash around his waist.

Not only does he look awesome, but he chose to work during the New Year's Sale to buy a present for his mother.

12/10 very cool and wholesome

Round 2: 2022-2023

Ruggie Bucchi (SSR)

HIS HAIR!!!

Aside from Vargas Camp and his birthday cards, Ruggie doesn't have a lot of SSRs, so I'm happy for him. I look forward to getting him in the English server soon.

I love how Ruggie seems to have picked up a lot of merchandise from around the store. Aside from a fan, which all the boys are using as their "weapons" for battles, he has a little koi bag, which I love so much (I have a similar one). The little toy he's holding is called a den-den daiko (でんでん太鼓), which is popular for young children.

11/10 congrats on getting the job, Ruggie!

Cater Diamond (SR)

I chose to show his un-Groovy art, because it's easier to see his outfit.

His clothes are similar to Deuce's, except that his "vest" is red, and he is wearing a button-down shirt underneath. The mix of Japanese and Western influences reminds me of Taisho-era clothing. He looks like Kazushi Tatsuishi in the anime version of My Happy Marriage, which also happens to be set in the Taisho Era.

It's hard to see in this picture, but he has a hairpin in his hair!

10/10 he slays

Sebek Zigvolt (SSR)

He looks so dramatic with his gloves and fur collar, but are we surprised? He's a Diasomnia student, after all. I wish they had given him a different hat, though, because it looks almost identical to his dorm uniform.

This one makes me laugh, because he poses like my dad. Not seen in this image is Sebby's neon-green geta, which I think my dad would love (he likes having shoes in unusual colors).

10/10 who needs fireworks on New Year's Eve when you have Sebby?

Vil Schoenheit (SR)

He stole the show.

At first glance, his outfit may bear too heavy a resemblance to the regular Pomefiore uniforms, since they're already inspired by kimono.

With his fascinator hat, netted gloves, and black nail polish, though, Vil adds a sense of mystery and intrigue to his outfit. He looks like he is playing the role of a Taisho-era socialite who poisoned their lover and is now actively avoiding the police.

Either that, or he got divorced from Rook. After all, it looks like he is wearing a furisode (a type of kimono meant for single women) rather than a tomesode (worn by married women), like in his dorm uniform.

11/10. The storytelling potential is limitless.

Round 3: 2023-2024

Trey Clover (SSR)

I love his scarf and hat. His coat looks longer than Deuce's and Cater's, and more like a haori. Overall, it looks like a cozy combination.

Like Cater, he is also wearing a button-down shirt under his kimono, and his vest is green. Heartslabyul is the only dorm that gets a character in this event every year, so it's nice to see that the outfits are personalized for each character.

He looks like he could be someone's uncle, but you know for sure that he'd spoil his nieces and nephews.

10/10 very classy, if he was working at the store and I came to visit, I'd trust him.

Ortho Shroud (SR)

ADORABLE.

Something I've always found interesting about Ignihyde clothing is their use of sharp shapes and geometric patterns, especially in Ortho's case. I wonder how Idia's version of this outfit would look.

Ortho and Idia must've had so much fun creating this outfit together!

Infinity/10 if Ortho were trying to sell me anything, I'd buy it, regardless of whether I actually need it.

Rook Hunt (SSR)

He's wearing RED EYELINER!

His outfit is quite different from Vil's. While Vil is wearing a furisode, which is traditionally worn by women, Rook's outfit seems to have a more traditionally masculine silhouette (of course, this is just my interpretation). This probably means that Epel will get to wear an outfit similar to Rook's next time as well.

The peacock feathers on his red hat is also a nice touch.

His pose and expression remind me of Wen Kexing from the C-drama Word of Honor. They also have similar personalities.

10/10, he looks like he just stepped out of a period drama. I look forward to seeing the fanarts of him with Vil.

Jade Leech (SR)

Jade's card has to be my favorite from this year's lineup. I just love how they translated Octavinelle's suits into kimono, while keeping details such as the purple bow tie.

I'm obsessed with his haori--it looks fluffy. I'd like to buy five.

His pose is so...

Like Trey, he looks like someone's uncle (it must be the fedora). However, unlike Trey, he looks like someone's uncle who may or may not be part of the Yakuza. Instead of giving you money on New Year, you owe HIM.

He also looks like he goes door to door selling products, and is about to sell me what he guarantees is a genuine Toshiba toaster oven and absolutely not an overpriced knockoff that will short-circuit and cause my entire neighborhood to lose electricity.

11/10 I will buy that toaster oven anyway.

Been thinking about butch Daigo all of last night and this morning. Y2 Daigo specifically here. She looks like regular Y2 Daigo—short messy hair, stocky frame, bad posture, leather pants, boobage, gruff look, and to spice with a bit of fandom headcanon, a bit fat. I keep thinking about her interacting with fem Mine too. All the cocky emo charisma and laying it on her. Calling her a princess bc Mine looks all uptight and businesswomanly. Done up and pretty to not make waves in the office (or you know it’s always a losing game but going by the playbook anyway). Mine secretly loves the pet name bc she feels trapped anyway in her job and lack of human connection that Daiko feels like sunlight on the skin after being behind stone and brick all her life.

Then years later they meet again by chance and Daiko is on the run.

She looks completely different. Like Yayoi, but with a bob instead. Makeup and wearing a kimono. Because I feel in a scenario where they’re women, I think unfortunately the daughter of a once powerful yakuza Patriarch and a mother who ers on the side of being harsh and perhaps a tad traditional that Daiko is getting put into an arranged marriage. Cue one of my favorite tropes ever—the Let’s Run Away Together. However, it’s unsustainable. As much as Mine wants to save her princess from a locked tower this time, Daiko can’t abandon her mom. I don’t know how this story would end, but it wouldn’t be the fairy tale ending either of them want.

Both this piece and last, I've found myself really enjoying playing with the stereo field using Jumble Henge and Vice Virga - which is nice, because that was my intended pairing so many months ago when I picked them out!

Quite a few voices at play here. The background glitches are Banshee Reach, going through Ikarie tracking the same pitch, then Data Bender for saturation and glitches (as always!). The plucky lead is Ts-L's wavefold out through Sinc Bucina, then Melotus Versio. The panning is done first by rhythmically sending the sequence into 4 different parts of the field. Partway through the song, I bring in a copy of this lead bitcrushed by Noise Tools. Varying the sample rate and slew amount creates an almost filter-like effect. This clone chases the original through the stereo field, 2 steps behind, taking advantage of Vice Virga's ability to do 4:4 switching.

The kick is on a steady clock, and the rest of the percussion from Taiko/Daiko comes from Zularic Repetitor, which is itself manually taken through a number of patterns to add variety. Next patch, I really want to give 4 Bricks Rook one more honest go, but I don't know if it's for me since I'm just not that good of a finger drummer. I don't know if Zularic Repetitor is the ideal rhythm generator - I might want something more consciously playable like Knight's Gallop or with a higher creative ceiling like Leibniz - but I think it's better suited for my workflow.

Other sequencing comes from Bloom, Pam's, and Marbles - but it's impossible to keep track of what's what. By my next post I should have quite a few new modules, as well as many more patch cables, so it should be a different one. Very excited for the mail the next couple of days!

the exact origins aren't clear but there's evidence that they were inspired by the chinese jiegu drum. different kinds of taiko drums have made appearances in japanese history as early as the 6th century within the military as a way to communicate and set marching rhythms and also appearing as musical instruments within theater (including kabuki and noh) and in religious rituals as well (turns out a consistent rhythm is important in a lot of things)

so there are several types of taiko drums and they're all divided into two groups with byo uchi being the famous big drums that have the drum head nailed to the body (and because of that they can't be tuned) and shime daiko where the drum skin is stretched over a metal ring and tensioned with ropes which can then be tightened or loosened to tune the drum

byo uchi drum bodies are also traditionally made using a single piece of wood from a japanese zelkova tree (although it's not quite as common nowadays)

there are different kinds of forms and stances for different drums and they're all important to do properly since you can really end up hurting yourself (which is true for any instrument but the sheer physical exertion when doing taiko makes it even more important). this video from let's ask shogo is pretty fun and informative since he talks to an actual instructor and he also explains some of the basic rhythms they use

also i feel like it's worth mentioning that you'll see these 4 elements mentioned a lot within taiko since they're like the core of learning taiko

What Naruto characters do you particularly like, besides the founders era? Any hot takes about them?

I really like Kankuro, I have lots of AU notes I created for him as centric fics that never left the notes stage. 1. He cannot handle spicy food- it makes him gassy and absolutely no one wants to be near him when that occurs.

2. He has really bad dad humor- Gaara is the only one who thinks he's the funniest guy to have ever lived.

3. He absolutely loves children (but pretends he doesn't because he has a reputation to uphold) and often puts on plays for the Suna Village children.

4. Temari is the one who taught him to properly apply makeup, skills he used in order to apply his face paint and not have it flake and crack.

Hinata!

Absolutely LOVES spicy food. Will seek out the spiciest thing on the menu and eat it with flourish. (Neji is always fighting for his life because any time they go out to eat and he's in close proximity to said food has his eyes are always watering and his nose running- he has to take frequent sips of water and is loath to admit when he has to step outside for fresh air.)

Learned how to cook from the old kitchen maids. It was through this she was able to hear stories about her mother and her cravings during her pregnancy. She learned how to make her mother's favorite foods and how to make them. Hinata doesn't like them at all but eats them anyway.

Is a terrible singer but is amazing with instruments. Her absolute specialty and favorite is the Japanese drum much to her father's horror but her sister's delight.

She is actually REALLY good at sneaking out, which is something that gave Neji premature grey hair once their relationship was repaired and he took to protecting her seriously.

She once snuck out and infiltrated the Kumi-Daiko (Japanese Drumming Team) when they came to play at a festival in Konoha.

Hinata is the one who named Hanabi. The name came to her when her mother and father took her to see the fireworks (which is where she fell in love with the Daiko (japanese drum)). When her mother fell ill soon after Hanabi was born Hinata would often sneak into Hanabi's room to hold her and tap little beats into her small hands with her fingers as though they were drums. Next is pre time skip Naruto! 1. Naruto is incredibly good at budgeting. He had to be growing up the way he did, given a certain allowance each month 2. Naruto is the KING at bartering. He can sniff out a sweet deal and will wheedle and deal like no one's business. He KNOWS when he's being swindled when they're on a mission and a merchant thinks they are easy prey. Not on Uzumaki Naruto's watch. 3. He fully believes ghosts are real because when he sleeps at night the Kyuubi tests the limits of the seal (which slowly was breaking down over time due to no maitenece (this is another whole HC that i had come up with but this post is already getting super long so i'll table that one) and would often possess his body. At first it was an extremity (a finger, toe), then a limb until he was able to control his body when Naruto sleeps. The Kyuubi cleans the apartment, not out of the goodness of his heart but because Konoha eats it's own and he cannot allow his vessel to die a sad lonely death in this FILTH that would be an insulting way to go. So the Kyuubi, or Karama, will often clean and cook and tuck Naruto's body into bed properly so that his vessel would grow to be strong and resillient. Which is why Naruto fully believes in ghosts because he believes it was his parent's ghosts that come to take care of him whilst he sleeps. He knows in his heart of hearts that they're dead but isn't too sad about it, because when he wakes up tucked into bed with a full belly, a clean room and sheets and his laundry folded he smiles at the darkest corners of his room and thanks them for loving him enough to stay.

Or, Talio Fukushu Daiko no Futari. Or, Revenge Agents Duo. This drama sure had its funny moments. And the cases were also rather interesting, especially the mutual revenge, quite chilling that one.

But!

But the main characters simply weren't pushing my buttons in any way. Especially Okada Masaki's Kuroiwa was as flat as a pancake. At the end of the drama I didn't know any more about him than at the very beginning and not because he was supposed to be mysterious, nothing like that. The writers simply didn't bother telling us anything about him besides him being a crook. That was it. Eh.

So, if you like light dramas and you don't mind not getting personally invested in the well-being of the leads, than by all means, this is a drama for you. But if you prefer dramas with at least some stakes, give this one a pass. It's just 7 eps long, true, but you won't miss anything by, well, missing it.

have we not talked about taiko?

For some reason I haven’t given much attention to this on my blog, but I’ve been an active member of a taiko drum group called Hibiki Garashi (the translation is kind of like...spicy sound?? but cooler sounding in Japanese) for the entire time I’ve been in Japan. Because COVID-19 was pretty prevalent when I first came to Japan, we didn’t have our first performance until last summer, more than six months since I arrived, but we have still met every week for practice. Since our first one, we’ve had about three more performances, with many more planned for this spring and summer as Japan is finally opening up again. 

As taiko has a very traditional sound and feel, we generally perform at festivals, but we did have one performance indoors in an auditorium as a showcase for the community center and to appeal to new members. Our uniform is usually our group t-shirts (designed by the very talented Sean, one of our members), black pants, headbands, and white tabi shoes. The more senior members and our teacher wear more extravagant and traditional uniforms like happi jackets and hakama style skirts. 

Although I’ve been playing with the group weekly for over a year, I only know about three songs, and have only ever performed two, called Agari Yatai and Haruka. The last song we have been learning for almost a year but haven’t performed yet is Shunpu (meaning “spring breeze”), in which I play the flute part. I’m very nervous, but excited to someday be able to perform this song. As many know, I played the flute in high school. The bamboo flute used in taiko is a bit different from a standard flute, but wasn’t too hard to get used to after some practice. 

Here are some pictures from our past performances. In a more recent one, we collaborated with a professional calligrapher, and our senior members performed on the drums while he drew out enormous letters in ink. It was pretty amazing!

Let’s talk about what kind of instruments we use in taiko. Of course, there is the taiko drum, which comes in several sizes and shapes. The three general types are nagado daiko (the most popularly recognized shape), shime daiko (the smaller taiko with a high pitched sound), and the okedo daiko (a lighter drum made of staves of wood rather than one hallowed out piece.) Since the okedo daiko is lighter, you can attach a strap and also play while standing or walking, which we make use of in the song Shunpu. 

The more advanced players of our group can play every type of taiko, but most of us tend to lean toward a specialty. For example, shime daiko requires more speed and (large, AKA odaiko) okedo daiko requires more power, so our two senior ALT members mainly play the shime daiko and the odaiko respectively. Being still a beginner, I tend to stick to nagado daiko, but am beginning to find a place with the members of the more power-focused odaiko team. 

Besides the drums, other instruments include the shinobue, AKA the bamboo flute, which comes in several different sizes which will accordingly change the pitch of the flute. We also sometimes use other percussion instruments like the chappa, which are small cymbals. 

And of course, we use bachi, drumsticks, to hit the drums! These also can come in different sizes, weights, and wood types. The lighter ones are usually made from hinoki (which smells great!) The lighter sticks are usually used for the shime daiko and can move a lot quicker. Accordingly, the heavier sticks are used for the bigger drums and can provide more power and sound. In one of our songs, we use one large bachi for the big drums that looks like a baseball bat. 

In our group, we get our bachi engraved with our names. My nickname is Slay-chan after my last name, so this is engraved in Japanese on my bachi. 

Many times, I leave practice with aching muscles and bleeding blisters (which we refer to in Japanese by mame, meaning beans.) But not even mentioning the sense of community I get from being a part of the group, the exercise, stress relief, and strengthening of my body is a great benefit of being a part of taiko. It’s a hobby created from a wonderful mix of musical and physical skill. 

Speaking of community, taiko has given me an incredible opportunity to connect with my community. Many of the members are parents and their children, plus several of us foreigner ALTs. We have really become a close group and refer to ourselves as a taiko family. Outside of rehearsals, we sometimes have parties together, such as the hotpot party I wrote about last year, and a Christmas party we had a few months ago. Japanese society is often very strict and reserved, but at taiko practice, I feel this barrier melt away and I feel like I can let loose and be my goofy self with everyone.

Works part-time as a fitness instructor before making a name for himself as a pro hero. Most of his clients are middle-aged women, because he makes people feel safe. Before long, word gets around and he amasses this like. Loyal army of jacked housewives and older ladies who are his biggest possible fans. They mother-hen him like crazy.

Has a large and complicated extended family. Lots of cousins. You will never learn all their names, don’t even try. I have no idea if his parents have canon occupations but no matter what Horikoshi says, they actually own a mountain onsen. Kirishima went to the city by himself to go to middle/high school, his family is all off in the country somewhere and he gets homesick a lot but never admits it. He’s broke for a long time even after making it as a pro hero, because he sends most of his money back home.

He’s a dog dad. You cannot, WILL not convince me otherwise. Big dogs. Small dogs. Fancy dogs. Ugly dogs. He has a whole pack. He calls them all baby, sweetie, pupper, the worst and most embarrassing baby talk. Tells them about his day. All of his furniture is wrecked. He’s an active member in online dog groups, where he is careful to use a pseudonym and never show his face, but eventually people are going to figure out that Red Riot’s dogs look an awful lot like this one user’s....

He’s in a casual taiko group, always on the o-daiko. Loves participating in festivals and parades. He has never, ever, not once, worn a shirt while drumming. Probably has been gifted at least one antique taiko drum for his hero work, and he keeps it in his house but is too afraid to play it because it’s scary valuable “uhh it’s definitely haunted”

Regularly goes out drinking. Socially and responsibly, like clockwork, always with the same people. He’s a goddamned lightweight, and no one understands why. Will mope if he has to miss a night out at the izakaya.

So he’s clean, but sloppy. House looks like a tornado ripped through it, and nothing he owns matches. Not a single thing. I mentioned the dogs.

Will absolutely use “manly” as a replacement for “awesome,” and will constantly tell you how manly you are. Your actual gender is a non-issue. If you hang out with him for more than five minutes you’re manly as hell now.

He cries a lot? Sometimes it’s for show but he gets genuinely misty-eyed over the dumbest things. Do NOT show him pictures of puppies.

He’s good at braiding hair. His or yours. When his hair isn’t hardened, he likes doing all kinds of wacky stuff with it. He usually keeps it long enough for braids, ponies, buns, quirk-assisted faux-hawks, whatever. Mina has given him many bad ideas. He will definitely steal your hair bands and accessories, if you use them.

His fridge is just like, meat and beer. He will, if forced, consume perhaps one single vegetable. Unfortunately, his B.O. reflects this. God bless him - he showers and bathes daily, because he works out a lot and is just generally hygienic. But don’t ever touch his socks barehanded.

He wears the cheapest, most predictable cologne you can imagine, the kind that comes in an aerosol can and punches a hole in the ozone every time he sprays his pits. It smells stupidly good on him. How. so fucking manly. you kind of hate him for getting away with it.

Does not date or hook up much; wants a serious relationship.

Has a tough time getting dates, weirdly. He’s still secretly insecure, but mostly he’s got rocks for brains and never knows how to flirt. He ends up friendzoning most of the people interested in him, because he is, in fact, a little too chivalrous for his own good and can never make the first move. He’s an emotional open book, but clueless romantically. I recommend being extremely straightforward. Draw him a map if you have to.

Is afraid to kiss you too deeply because of the teeth. Will take a lot of gentle encouragement to get him comfortable, but once he knows you’re safe, he’s going to be kissing you all the time. Like, too much. People are gawking, Kiri, for God’s sake.

He radiates massive doses of husband/dad energy. Will immediately marry the hell out of you. If you are capable of and willing to have his children, you are going to get extremely pregnant. Very quickly. Not necessarily a breeding kink (though why not), he just really wants to start a family with you.

He’s Big. Just huge. Tall and broad, and also... his dick is a summit and you will need to prepare for the climb. He’s had problems in the past because no, not everybody wants ALL THAT inside them. That said, if you can handle it? Woof.

Hard as a rock is No Joke with this man. Can and WILL use his quirk on his dick. If you don’t think that’s the first thing he mastered as a teenager I dont know what to tell you. Okay, well ep 6 of Talio Fukushu Daiko no Futari bodyslammed into the ground.

After all the fun and humor, hoo boy, ep 6 took a hammer to my crystal heart and shattered it to pieces. I love how we got to see so much more of Kuroiwa. He's normally so irreverent but that's because he has to be in his line of work. Getting food on the table and a roof over his head is the first priority. And the next is not taking what you do seriously, cause if you do, it will break you.

In way, I got the impression that wants to protect Mami from this fallout - this loss of innocence if you will - because he knows she's still young and learning and the law has more shades of gray than black or white. I also got the impression that he's worried for Mami's future. I'm sure he knows what she wants in her heart and he also knows how badly it can hurt her and of course, they are so abrasive with each other, but Kuroiwa does not want that souring of innocence/hope for her. He doesn't want her to be like him.

Except, even he's not like him either. He's not as impervious as he thinks and neither so unfeeling. He just seems to be doing the best he can. And it's not always enough.

This is such a good time to hammer my other agenda aka JEDI IS INSPIRED BY EAST ASIAN CULTURE.

I like the idea that they have several traditional instruments and since I go with Japan for this one, Koto and Taiko. For reference, Koto is  Japanese plucked zither and Taiko is Japanese percussion instruments.

What I have come to know that playing string instruments need dedication and Koto is definitely need it. I like to think that Younglings introduced to it and slowly learning it to find the sounds that they want to produce and I think it would be good lesson on patient because it can be frustrating but it would give satisfaction when you can produce the sounds like you wish to. Also sometime Koto played in ensemble, and that will be interesting to see the playing Koto while making sure the sounds in harmony because you have to listen with sounds around you.  

With Taiko, I know there is Kumi-Daiko, an ensemble-playing where each drums having specific roles to play. It usually very energetic based on what I had watch and I have fun thinking Jedi playing Taiko. I think it would be interesting to see if Jedi had some kind festival. It’s like bonding times to where everyone can watch the performance and the effort they put to play it. 

I have a soft spot for ensemble music you see.

For dancing, unfortunately I don’t have much idea but based from we see younglings do, it’s look like powerful and fast but I also like the idea have more variations beside that, the more calm type beside the one that look like combat dancing. SWORD/LIGHTSABER DANCING ACTUALLY.

I actually have more to says at first, but apparently I am having a burn out but I need to say this that the fact people ignore there is big East Asian influence in Jedi is uncomfortable to see. To understand that orientalism have a play on it, is not an excuse to erase the influence, the solution shouldn’t that you ignore it but asking for people of the culture and in this case, East Asians, to help develop into something better for Jedi Culture. 

WHICH TO SAY, LUCASFILM STOP BEING COWARD AND MAKE ACTUAL ASIAN JEDI MORE SPECIFICALLY EAST ASIAN JEDI AFTER ALL JEDI IS INSPIRED BY EAST ASIAN CULTURE GODDAMMIT.

What do you think Aizen's opinion of Orihime would have been if he got to know her in Heuco Mundo?

alright, so -- railroading of the plot aside i am not one to think that ichigo got to find out where orihime went and then RAN RIGHT OFF TO SAVE HER. that's not how command structures work and given that ichigo is the shinigami daiko of karakura, that means he falls under the command of the gotei. which means for all of what aizen was up to, the fact remains that he probably got his hands on orihime and it took a while -- then again, the fucking timeline in bleach is pretty goddamn nebulous and i refuse to try making heads or tails of it where this plot point is concerned because it gets jumbled and confusing.

which means i would say that aizen got more time with orihime than what canon showed us.

as for his opinion of her? respectful. for all of what aizen says and does, he does respect people ( with certain exceptions -- looking at you, kisuke-- ) by and large. i don't know if he'd be "won over" so to speak by that golden heart of hers, but i do know that aizen has seen her ability in action and i do know he does respect it. he thinks that she’s a compassionate young woman and far stronger than she realizes. he thinks that orihime has the skills and capacity to become a powerful shinigami. and i know that he would have invited her to share tea or dinner with him at least once.

sure, he may be the man keeping her captive for the time being but he’s not going to be rude. a proper host does what he can for his guest, after all. and while traditional culture states that he’s there to serve her and all, aizen isn’t quite in his usual traditional role. but i can say that his opinion of orihime is quite good. he has no wish to do more than needs doing and i figure that once he apologizes for being a dick, they could become friends. or at least become friendly.

he just has to, you know, apologize to her for what he did.

There was an experience I had when I still had my dA up and running. It was over one of my old [self-insert] dbz OCs, Daiko.

At the time, her name wasn’t Daiko but Lia, which was just my name minus the S. In middle school, specifically 6th grade, I was obsessed with dbz. I made self-inserts of myself and my cousins, ‘cause we all loved dbz. Reason I took out the S from the name is because I was embarrassed over my classmates knowing that was self-insert, since a lot of them always liked looking through my sketchbooks [something I stopped doing when I had E N O U G H of them smudging the pencil art and getting finger prints all over other pages].

Now, when I started out my dA account, dbz OCs were some of the first art I put up. I don’t think I ever made it clear “Lia” was my self-insert, but I never really thought that needed to be said seeing as I made my real name public on there. It should’ve been obvious, right?

Anyways, fast forward years later, maybe some time in 2013 or 2014, maybe even 2015? At that point, I’ve pretty much abandoned my account because my abuser stilled followed my dA and a lot of the shit he forced me to draw for him was still the most recent of art I had up. I’d still post art once in a while, but then I stopped when my stalker from Gaia Online started stealing my dbz art and asking for weird requests [he kept asking for ship art of Bardock and Pan, which.. yanno, he’s her great grandpa 8| I genuinely believe this guy knew NOTHING about dbz, but that’s another story].

So, some time before I deactivated my account, someone felt the need to comment on a profile I made for Lia. This person told me that it was canon that all saiyans have black hair and eyes, and that a saiyan who lost a mate would mourn over for them a long period of time and wouldn’t move on so quickly. Now, if you remember, Lia was my self-insert. I gave her some of my traits - brown hair, green eyes, and I made her love interests the dbz guys I was madly in love with during middle school - Raditz and Yamcha. I was 11-12 yos when I came up with that stuff, and still applied it when I was like.. 16-17. When my abuser came into my life, I was never able to focus on making changes to her because all my time and energy went into him and wat he wanted.

This person left a comment about canon stuff, and I just fucking laughed. Like, at this point, I’m already in my mid 20s. I even showed this to @kaiju-z to laugh over it n shit. I know for a damn fact someone outright stole/copied Lia’s design/story. My stalker already did that as well as another person [I had a friend confirm this, and he offered to out the person, but I told him he didn’t have to], and some other random person stole another of my dbz OC’s design/looks before. But, because I hadn’t been active in so long, there’s no way I could back up my claims on the 2nd part of the former. My only alibi was the date on which I posted the art, but this person only focused on the art itself. Obviously, this person is friends with someone who stole my character Lia.

The reason I say that is due to the fact that I have a black-haired saiyaness with purple/violet eyes, another with fucking magenta hair & violet + blue streaks and blue eyes, a third with strawberry blonde hair and brown eyes, a saiyan with blond hair and blue eyes, and a saiyaness with silver hair and eyes. All outlandish hair + eye colors that stick out. But no, this person goes for my self-insert. I’m not sure how far they dug into my gallery, but they did and decided to comment on my self-insert and tell me all this canon shit and wat not. They could’ve left that comment on literally any of the listed saiyan OCs, but went for my self-insert, which made me Very Suspicious.

I replied back saying I had made all this in middle/high school, changes were a thing that’d happen soon enough. It still makes me suspicious that this person pointed out my self-insert, especially when they had a self-insert demon saiyan with red eyes. So, my only conclusion is that this person was friends with someone who ripped off my self-insert.

Being spiteful, I’ve left her hair brown and eyes green. I changed her name to Daiko, ‘cause I decided to give all my Planet Vegeta born saiyans veggie pun/related names, as well as their kids. I’ve left Daiko paired up with Yamcha. To add some extra spite, I made a new saiyansona/self-insert that I paired up with Raditz. 8) In fact, I might very well make a saiyan OC with bubblegum pink hair and bright blue eyes. 

So, I guess the moral of the story is to let people be creative regardless of canon [esp if it’s harmless creativity] and don’t steal people’s art/OCs/etc, and then enable/defend the art thief and hound out the person they stole from and tell them to change their OC.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
