Do not follow her, Turvo. Don’t go there, you mustn’t go! You cannot leave Itarillë -- you cannot leave me! Don’t leave me!
Fingon and Turgon on the Helcaraxë! Since I still had these two on the brain, I decided to indulge in some more brotherly feels (or angst, in this case). This scene is sometime after Elenwë is lost; I imagine Turgon was so taken by despair in the days after that he nearly followed his wife, but Fingon stopped him in time. So Turgon had to release his grief some other way!
For Turgon’s face, I referenced War Pieta by Max Ginsburg since I really wanted his expression to be visceral. For some reason, drawing these types of expressions is lots of fun! XDD

how do you get the angle & fov so close to the original!! is it just trial & error or do you superimpose the photo atop the game somehow
recently ive been tracing the outlines of the rooms in Clip Studio Paint, and then capturing both CSP and the game in OBS and changing the blending mode for CSP to multiply!
i use CSP's perspective ruler tool to find the horizon in the reference picture and then compare it with any doors in the image (theyre very consistently 2m tall) to find the height at which the photo was taken, and then make a little platform in the game so the pov is at the same height
i then trial and error the approximate position by putting down square tiles and lining it up with the floor in the picture. i'll then build up the walls (theyre usually around 2.5m tall, so i just make them 13 blocks/2.5m tall and use the resizable cube to get the ceiling to the right height). then i do even more trial and error to find the FOV, focusing on matching the angle of vertical lines near the sides of the screen.
i use a kitchen cabinet inner corner piece to "save" my position, i'll back into it to get to the exact same spot every single time. i'll also place a small item (usually a clothing hook) on the wall on the spot my cursor needs to be so i can always face the right way!
often the images have to be rotated very slightly for the horizon to be perfectly horizontal. i'll always note down by how many degrees, and when i'm cropping the final screenshot to the correct aspect ratio i'll also rotate it to match :)

Sorry but the way these panels are right after each other just makes it sound like Bruce and Selina broke up so he could start a relationship with Clark and they mutually chose to stop heroing💀💀💀

Ok like. I know pearlina is more or less canon (at least one-sided marina according to that website) but even without unequivocal official confirmation its still so hilarious to me how EVERYONE is on the same page that theyre lesbians and married. Like, its just an assumption. No second guessing
I know not everyone ships, and theres been some drama in the past in certain circles on whether theyre just friends or closer, but MOST people can agree that the two of them are insanely close and love eachother very much. Seeing how when side order got announced IMMEDIATELY i see “oh thats pearl and marinas wedding, right” all over my timeline and across the entire off the hook fandom just speaks to the synergy of both this ship and the people that observe it, even passively.
What I’m saying is that Nintendo, its okay, just confirm Pearl and Marina’s romance, the closet is made of glass,,

Fellow Travelers - Arthur Russell 'Love Is Overtaking Me'
The reel that Jonny posted on his Instagram yesterday made me all types of emotional for a lot of reasons. It also got me thinking about how perfect the song choice was for it.
I've long thought it was such an interesting song selection for the closing 50's/80's parallel sequence before the final fast-forward scene. It works sonically with the sort of hopeful/nostalgic sound that it evokes, which feels representative of where the characters exist in the moment.
For the 50's: Hopeful for a new beginning (Hawk) and devastated by new life (Tim) as both relate to Jackson.
For the 80's: Hopeful for victory/a better life for future generations (Tim) and nostalgic about the end of a life/relationship (Hawk).
Anyway, I didn't know the name of the song. I finally looked it up yesterday and ... boy. Ron Nyswaner, the man that you are.
For anyone who does not already know, the name of the song that I'm talking about is Arthur Russell's 'Love Is Overtaking Me' on the album of the same name.
For a little bit of context, the album was released posthumously in 2008. Arthur died in 1992 (but more on that to come).
What struck me first about Arthur's biography are the details surrounding the end of his life and his death.
Right off the bat, I'm like, 'Oh. So there are parallels to Tim.'
As I continued reading, I started seeing some of the Hawk x Tim dynamic slip into place.
Which made me think of how Tim said he needed Hawk to let him go so that he could let everything else go and keep fighting. Despite the grief it would cause Hawk.
Arthur, like the character of Tim, sadly died of AIDS-related illnesses on April 4, 1992 at just 40 years old.
The idea of living on through something so deeply meaningful to him runs parallel to Tim as well.
So now here I am thinking, 'Wow. What a great choice for a closing song.' (Not including PLM's final composition, which is just *chef's kiss*) It profoundly connects to the story and only adds to a bigger narrative surrounding one of its characters.
Then I continued reading further about Arthur's personal life.
Like, EXCUSE ME? We know damn well which character this reminds us of and how every time Hawk and Tim reunited/said goodbye, there was always some degree of fireworks/devastation.
So basically ... that song was a perfect bow-tie to a perfect series. I wish I could climb into Ron's brain for just one single day, because my brain has just about exploded.

Rambles inbound
Recently learned about the Ghost-Maker character and his sidekick experiment, Phantom-One. And damn do I ever want to contrive a situation where a vengeful Jazz that has lost everything and everyone she loves seeks out Ghost-Maker so he can teach her how to fight and take down corrupt organizations like the GIW, which leads to her becoming Phantom-Two.
Like she would definitely recognize that Minhkoa is a clinical psychopath and would just roll with it. She would never expect him to actually care for her and would tell him that once he inevitably grows tired of her that she will leave with no questions asked.
Kinda see her in this situation as being a loose Tim Drake parallel with her butting into Minhkoa's life and having no illusions that she matters to him. She is just a placeholder, an experiment for the artistic, psychopathic crime fighter and she is ok with that. She will use her intellect to aid her mentor but neither actually have any emotional connection with each other.
IDK my brain just loves the thought of her becoming Phantom-Two and the personal meaning that name would have for her. Sure, Minhkoa named his first sidekick Phantom-One and she is just the next numbered experiment for him but Phantom was Danny's name, his identity. She is not Phantom but she will carry the name when she finally returns to the United States and burns the GIW to the ground.
There is also something to be said for Ghost-Maker and Phantom-One wearing white as their dominant color. It would be lovely to have this new Phantom-Two wearing the same white that the GIW love so much as she cuts a bloody trail through their agents.
