Thank you for your kind words about care takers & vet staff in the wake of Toki's passing. I've been on her support staff for several years, and the influx of vitriol and hate we've been receiving has been devastating on top of everything we're already going through. So, I wanted to thank you, because it's been rare to see support, or pretty much anything kind to us, recently. It made me smile 🩵
Of course, Anon 🫂 I’m so sorry for everything you’ve had to put up with, both from the outside and from your own management. You loved her, and unlike everyone else, you truly knew her. And you wanted what was best, even if it was unpopular. Thinking about you and your coworkers! 🐳
As for the angry folks showing up in my notes… why exactly do you think it’s okay to be so hateful toward the people who actually took care of Toki, who knew her in a way you and I never will? Why do you blame her care staff and vet team for something they had absolutely nothing to do with? Did you get a four-year degree in psychology or marine biology and complete multiple unpaid animal care internships, only to make minimum wage and get called an animal abuser online? Or did you go to school for eight years, not counting thousands of hours of additional education in exotic species you didn’t learn about during that schooling, just so you could make a quarter of what other doctors make and be told you’re in it for the money?
You really think you’re her advocate here?

The sun was setting outside the window of the living room as you lay down blankets on the sofa and set up pillows for you and Tom’s nightly movie night, setting the late night scene with the new absence of light. Ever since the COVID epidemic had begun and you moved in with the Hollands to avoid quarantining alone, you started the already classic tradition where one of the five of you would get to choose a different movie every night and watch it as a family in the living room, adding in blankets and pillows to make it one big sleepover party on Fridays. With Nikki, Dom, Sam, and Paddy living away in a separate house, movie nights usually consisted of you, your boyfriend Tom, his brother Harry, and of course his best friends Harrison and Tuwaine. Usually you would have some help with putting together a comfy place for you all to relax, but there was just one key difference with tonight’s movie night; you and Tom would be watching it alone. After the last Friday movie night, a few of you started feeling a little under the weather, Harry Tuwaine and Harry with a terrible cough and lack of smell while you and Tom felt fine. Immediately you all rushed to take COVID tests and as suspected, you and Tom were both negative, but Harry, Tuwaine, and Harrison all tested positive for the virus and were really starting to feel the symptoms. With masks strapped to your faces, you all returned home, split up the house, and agreed that until the boys got over the virus, you and Tom would be their prime care takers and have to cancel all movie nights until further notice. Your domain to share with Tom consisted of the downstairs area, anything from the kitchen to the living room and the master bedroom you had been sharing with Tom since your arrival. Meanwhile, the sick boys were all instructed to stay upstairs where they had to share two bedrooms between the three of them as well as a single TV compared to you and Tom’s two TVs. Along with feeling bad for the sickly boys, you were sad about missing movie night until it came to your attention after several FaceTime calls and other online interactions with the boys upstairs that movies on Disney+ could be streamed at the same time on separate devices. Needless to say, you got right down to business and spent the rest of the week planning and strategizing how you could do a movie night together, yet apart. By the time Friday came, you had it all together. The boys upstairs would be watching it on their TV while you and Tom would watch it in the living room where you usually would. Tom had dug up old walkie-talkies from when he and his brothers were little and managed to get them working again, tossing one up to the boys so you could converse with each other without is desired. “Tom!” you shout. “Living room’s ready!” Your boyfriend walks out from the kitchen where he had been preparing snacks for the boys, a big metal bowl of popcorn in hand as he smiles at you. “Right love, I’m just going to get this up to the boys, make sure they’re ready, and we can start it up.” “Sounds good.” you confirm, leaving briefly to change into your pajamas. When you return, you spot Tom sitting upon the couch, the lights off and the movie paused on the TV as he waits for you. The walkie-talkie for you both lies on the coffee table, supported by a stack of books so that it is easy to reach and upright. You take in the setting, beaming at Tom until you notice something. You would have missed it if you hadn't taken the time to look around at the dimly lit scene. Your boyfriend sits on the sofa, his legs propped up on the leg rest, partially covered by one of your fuzzy blankets, his pajama pants peeking out from the bottom where the fabric ends at his feet, but completely bare on the top. From the moment you moved in, you knew new boundaries would have to be set for you and Tom when it came down to your intimate life as a couple. It was easier when one of you was staying at the other's flat, alone in the dignity of your own space to do whatever you pleased, but now, with others present, you both had to accept that for the comfort of your housemates, you could not be as active. It wasn’t long after when you figured out that having him less made you want him more and Tom felt the same went for you. In the past three months of the pandemic, you had been completely satisfied only twice, you both resorting to only short sessions that were sustainable, but never filling. Though you loved living with all the boys and could function fine without your fair share of Tom, you still desired him and how here he was, half naked and tempting. At first it’s just his shoulders, the blanket hiding what you know to be his perfectly sculpted chest and torso which allows you some peace of mind. You step closer to him, convincing yourself that his lack of coverage does not change your desire to watch the movie instead of doing something (or someone) else until he lifts up the blanket, showing off his abs that flex in light glimmer from the TV as his arms outstretched, gesturing for you to sit with him. You hesitate, not because you wish to sit apart from him, but because you’d rather do more than just cuddling. His bare skin is enticing. You start to crave his touch, not the tender type, but the kind that leaves you panting out of exhaustion. Your lascivious thoughts become increasingly worse as you are reminded of the lack of intimacy you two have been allowed lately with his brothers around. The very same brothers that are under strict instructions not to leave the upstairs area where they have a horrible view of the downstairs living room. It’s too perfect. “C’mere,” Tom requests, motioning for you to join him. You do as is asked of you, taking a seat on his lap as he wraps the blanket around his shoulder and the both of you, nesting his chin into the crook of your neck and his arms around your waist as he pecks you on the corner of your lips. You shudder. “You cold, love?” he asks out of loving concern. You answer honestly. “Not in the slightest.” Before he’s able to ask you to elaborate, static plays from walkie-talkie as Harry’s voice rings through it. “Are you guys ready yet?” Tom reaches over to the old toy and presses the reply button as he speaks into it “Yep, we’re starting it…now.” He paused to play the movie, simultaneously setting the walkie-talkie down. It had only been playing for five minutes, but you were gone. You were watching it, but you were definitely not paying attention as every word that left the character’s mouths flew in one of your ears and out the other. You were much more focused on something else as Tom’s hot breath fanned over your neck causing goosebumps to rise on your skin. His hands rest on your stomach, much too close to where you want them to be and his thighs were beneath you, only separated by yours and his pajama pants barrier, something that could be so easily removed. Your core is on fire, inflamed from the intensity of your desires. You have to fix it, you need friction, you need contact, you need him. “Tom” you breathe. At the sound of his name, your boyfriend plants a lengthy peck on your cheek. “What’s up love?” he whispers in your ear. You feel your cheeks heat up, his voice adding to the discomfort of not having him already. “I can’t watch this anymore.” Tom recognizes your tone of voice, needy and whiny, he knows what you want as his hands move to your hips to help turn you ever so slightly on his, just enough that you can see his face. His head leans into yours so that you can feel his breath on your lips, his words quiet as he whispers to you. “What do you want?” Your eyes shut and your lips part as his hands move up, his fingers spread as he feels as much of you as he possibly can. “You want me to touch you? To make you feel good? It’s that it, darling?” His hands dip under your shirt as they continue to ascend to the crease beneath your breast where your bra begins to cover you. “God, yes” you moan, leaning into him. He chuckled at your urgency, his thumbs tucking under the cuff of your breast while his lips, feather soft, meet yours in a kiss for what feels like less than a second. “Too bad I have to watch the movie.” His hands leave your skin and he leans back into the sofa, leaving you hot and bothered on his lap, your eyes widening in shock. “You fucking tease,” you gently shove him in return before standing up to leave, heading in the direction of your bedroom. “I guess I’ll just take care of it myself.” You don’t make it much further before Tom reaches and pulls you back to him, settling you back down until you're on his lap again, the blanket discarded and now beneath the two of you. “Oh babe, I’m messing with you. I never said I couldn’t multitask.” You tense into his lap as he leans into your neck, adjusting your body so that you’re facing the television as his lips meet your skin once more. His head moves up as he kisses you again, this time closer to your ear, just at the beginning of your jawline. He kisses you again in the same spot, then again a bit lower, and then again without any gain in pressure or intensity. His hands grip onto your hips as he handles you gently, as if you’re a ceramic work of art. Your skin burns where his lips have been. He elicits a moan from you, desperate as you are to have him already. You need more. Instead, he lifts his head once more and ceases from kissing you as his lips brush against the shell of your ear, shushing you softly. “Quiet darling,” he whispers as his right hand leaves your waist. “We don’t want the boys to hear us, don’t we? You know Harry, he’s already suspicious of us. Imagine if we didn’t win trivia tomorrow. He’d figure us out.” Of course, Harry’s trivia. You’d forgotten. Trivia night referred to the first few minutes of each evening’s movie night where Harry would ask a few questions relating to the previously watched movie and at the end of the week, whoever answered the most correctly won bragging rights and occasionally a sweet of some sort. No one was keen to the idea, but you knew it made Harry happy and as you all had nothing better to do, it soon became as traditional as watching the movie. As there were four of you, it was only natural that you all teamed up; Harrison with Tuwaine and you with Tom. Being extreme movie buffs from months on sets together and as the unhealthily competitive people you were, you and Tom had gotten used to winning every single week. You nod, agreeing that it would in fact be strange if you and Tom didn’t win as per usual, but then again, you much prefer having him over bragging rights. You don’t give a verbal response, but Tom takes your silence, your lack of any sort of erotic sound, as a sign to keep going. You keep your eyes on the screen, as Tom presses another kiss to the side of your neck, his lips lingering this time as you feel his right hand again, stroking your arm as he massages your bicep to help you relax. You sigh into his touch. Encouraged, he lowers his hand, moving from your arm to your waist as he peppers more kisses on your neck. You feel his middle finger dip beneath the elastic of your pajama pants and raise the hem above your skin before letting it snap back into place, He starts to ease it down with one of his hands while the other reaches around you to keep you steady, inching its way under your shirt to rest on the upper part of your abdomen. He kisses you gently, every few seconds or so, careful to not overstimulate you right away. But you’re much too eager to have a slow sensual session as you reach down and help him lower your pants. His hand parts from your skin and grabs your wrist, gently bringing it back up. “Patience darling. I can’t have you coming too fast now can I?” “Just get to it.” He listens to you, peeling off your pants until they’re on a crumpled pile on the floor and his hand is back on you. He strokes your arms again, his finger grabbing yours as he directs them down. “If you want to make it faster, you’re going to have to help out.” he whispers in your ear, his lips against your lobe as he moves both of your hands down and models your hand so that it’s against the dampened fabric, hovering above your clit. He guides it in small circles, showing you your favorite way just as you had shown him your first time. You massage it gently as his hand leaves yours to caress your arm some more, whispering praises into your ear. “Good girl, touching herself for me.” You inhale deeply, the knot tensing in your core as you apply a little more pressure. It’s enough to sustain you for some time, but you know it’s Tom that you need. His other hand starts moving upward as it cups the breast adjacent to it, over your bra that you were starting to wish you had taken off earlier. As if reading your mind, his hand leaves your arm and reaches back to undo the clasps, pulling it off from under your pajama shirt, his original hand reaching back up to cup you again. You stifle a moan as your nipples harden, the uncovered one peeking up from under your shirt. You speed up your own movements, needing more friction, more contact. Tom notices. He pulls your hand back intertwining your fingers, leaving a long kiss on your neck. “Here now love.” He directs, putting your hand on your other breast and letting it go so that you can do it yourself. His hand reaches back down to where you were as it sneaks in between the elastic and slowly peels it down, exposing you to the cool night air of the living room. Light from the TV reflects off of your arousal and he wastes no more time as he touches you. He reaches down and rubs your clit in slow circling motions. You have to focus on keeping your mouth closed as you fail to suppress a groan, humming in satisfaction. His other hand still kneads your breast, an easy movement for you to mimic on your other breast as the intense feeling spreads, growing from your gut. Tom’s finger strokes you, gliding over you, slick from your arousal before he slides one into you, pumping it in and out at a steady pace. “You’re so wet darling. And all for me.” Your breath quickens as his lips attach into your neck again, sucking this time. He nips the delicate skin with his teeth, pain that is then soothed by his soft tongue as he runs it over the sore spot. Your other hand reaches to find his bicep, squeezing it to release some of the tension you cannot let out from being quiet. “That’s it, that feels so good doesn’t it?” he murmurs against your skin, pecking at your neck again. “You’re doing so good keeping quiet for me.” You squeeze his bicep again, your back arching into him as he starts to speed up, adding in another finger as he starts to stretch you. His other hand adjusts, focusing in on your nipple and he swirls his finger around it and pinches it between his thumb and pointer finger. His pace quickens again as he pulls them out and forces them back in, overstimulating you as his lips attack your jawline, adorning you with wet-open mouthed kisses. Your mouth hangs open, you breathe hard as you curl your toes and arch your neck so that your head sinks into the crevice between his neck and his shoulder. It’s a close call, but you manage to turn every single moan into a small groan or grunt. You’re close, he can feel it, you both can. You move your hands and clutch into both of his arms, squeezing. “That’s it, y/n. Come for me.” You’re so close, almost there at the pinnacle. He moves his hand from your breast and clutches your thigh, squeezing it and forcing it to spread apart from your middle for more access. His movements quicken. You almost cry out, you and Tom’s cover nearly blown if it weren’t for you biting your lip at the last moment to stifle it. It was building, quickly, you were getting closer and closer with every forceful thrust from his fingers. You felt your orgasm, closer and closer until… “Oh my god! Guys! Did you see that part?” Tuwaine asks through the walkie-talkie, his voice booming through the speaker. “This film’s mad, isn’t it?” you hear Harry agree in the background of the radio. You gasp as Tom’s movements slow, but never stop as he keeps a steady pace, hitting deep each time. His voice is low as he rasps in your ear, coaxing and sweet. “Answer them.” he orders, his breath hot against your neck. “No,” you breathe, the thought of trying to string enough words together to make an acceptable reply is completely inconceivable. “I can’t, you have to-to…” “My hands are full.” Tom explains, his fingers taking up a now a pace so painfully slow as he takes them all the way out and leisurely pushes them back in. “Answer or I will stop.” he threatens. “Hello?” Harrison calls through the speaker. You groan in frustration as you reach for the walkie talkie beside you and press the button, bringing it up to your lips. “Yes,” you mumble softly, trying your hardest to sound like you were simply relaxing on the couch and not being railed on it. Hoping he would not want to discuss specific details, you think of the shortest response to end the conversation. “The part, we saw it.” “Good job baby.” Tom whispers in your ear, speeding up his fingers again. “What do you think of it so far?” Harry asked. Tom’s lips stick back onto your neck, sucking the delicate skin. “Fuck,” you curse, earning what you make out as a smile from him as he grins against your skin, still pumping in and out of you. You press the button again, hoping the sound of Tom’s fingers navigating through your arousal couldn’t be heard through the old technology. “It’s so good, so so good.” you answer uncontrollably, obviously not describing the movie. Tom whispers more praise in your ear as he speeds up his pace again. “Really?” Harrison asks. “We kind of think it’s shit, we’ve been laughing at it, but maybe it’ll get better. It’s not bad.” “Oh no, not bad at all.” you agree, earning another smirk from Tom as you toss the walkie-talkie to the safety of one of the nearby chairs and turn up the film to cover up any more of your noise. You lean back into Tom and stifle another moan as he nips another part of your neck. “You’re incredible, baby.” Tom praises as his fingers keep pumping in you, but after being deprived of him for so long, you know it’s not enough. You could feel him beneath you, bulging, clearly as needy as you, but too much of a gentleman to say so. “I want you this time.” you pant, reaching for his hand to move it away from your core. “I want to ride you.” “Are you sure? I don’t have a condom on me.” You turn around, briefly, and kiss him, a short one, sweet and inviting to clear away all of his doubt. “I want to.” you murmur against his lips, pecking them once more before you pull away for good. “Fuck me.” At once, Tom discards his own pajama pants until they too, like yours, lay crumpled on the ground, adding your own underwear to the mix as he adjusts you in his lap, helping you slide onto him. As you presumed, he fills you up instantly, forcing yet another pleasure filled hum of you as you suppress a moan. “Fuck, y/n, you’re so tight.” he grunts as his hips start to move, thrusting into you up and down as you bounce on top of him just slightly, still facing the TV. His hands slide up and down your body, one of them staying on your waist to hold you steady against him and support you while the other moves back up and pulls your shirt up until it pools against your collar bones. He kneads one of your breasts that he cannot get enough of. “Faster, baby.” you request and Tom is quick to obey as his thrusts start to speed up. His breath is husky, in your ear as he too now has the burden of hiding his own noises. “Y/n,” he moans, careful not to be much louder than the TV as he squeezes you hard. His new speed and angle allows him to hit your spot, never missing as he gets it with each powerful thrust, his thighs flexing beneath you. You moan, loudly only barely being overpowered by the TV. You can’t help it. You feel Tom’s hand fall from your breast and clasp around your mouth. He’s careful not to hurt you, but his hand covers your mouth with such a force that you gasp, moaning again, muffled by his calloused palm that smells so strongly of you. “Let it out, love. Let it all out into my hand.” he encourages, egging you on as he thrusts into you even harder. You moan, his hand muffling you as your voice vibrates and fails to sound as loud as it would have otherwise. You reach back, your hands digging into Tom’s scalp as you bounce on top of him, your breasts rippling as you do so. “Come for me love.” You give in as all the pressure builds up to a climax, a finishing point. You close you eyes and let out one last ungodly moan as your orgasm overtakes you, Tom fucking you through it as you spill onto him. Once you’re released from your trance, Tom sticks two of his fingers in your mouth, still thrusting into you, sloppier and sloppier as he himself is so close to finishing. You suck on them, happy to help as you can taste some of the remainder of yourself off of his fingers, swirling your tongue around them. “Oh, just like that. Fuck, y/n!” he moans your name as your nails still scratch his scalp, tugging on segments of his loose brown curls. You feel him come as he twitches inside you and his muscles loosen beneath you, the warmth coating your insides. You both take a moment, his fingers leaving your mouth as you resituate yourself on his lap, facing him so that you may embrace one another in the chill air of the night. After a couple minutes Tom turns the volume back down to normal and helps you clean up by carrying you to your shared bedroom where you take your time washing up and putting yourself back together. Tom cleans himself up and takes care of the couch, throwing the soiled blanket in the wash and getting out another one that he fully intends to cuddle you underneath. When you're ready, you re-emerge from your room and get comfortable on the sofa with Tom, laying down with him as you enjoy the last ten minutes of the film, but neither of you are intent on paying attention even with so little left. Instead you find yourself facing Tom, enamored by his beauty and encapsulated by his comforting charm as he presses soft chaste kisses on your nose and forehead, holding you close beneath the warmth of the blanket.
♡.-.♡.-.♡
As you and Tom prepare dinner the next evening, a simple soup for the sick boys, you look up the plot of the film online and read it aloud to him, still driven by a need to win every trivia night even if you neglected to watch the film. “It’s time people!” Harry calls from upstairs, startling you and Tom. “You ready?” you ask him, helping him untie his dorky apron as the nerves surge through you. “Ready as I’ll ever be.” he responds, lifting the apron over his head and laying it on the counter as he grabs your hand to lead you to the stairs. He can sense how tense you are, you hand firm in his as you take a deep shaky breath. “You're not nervous, are you darling?” You sigh as he takes your other hand in his, lightly kissing the top of it. “We can’t lose, Tom. We just can’t.” He giggles at your competitiveness, knowing it to get the best of you at times as it can you, but luckily, he knows just how to calm you down. “Want to know something?” he smirks. With a nod of confirmation, he brushes a strand of hair behind your ear and lowers his voice so that no one can hear him, but you. “Even if we do lose, nothing can make me regret last night,” He leans down now, bringing his lips to your ear as he whispers, “I’m happy to lose every trivia night if it means having you on top of me like that again.” You pull away from him with a smile, using your newly free hands to put up your hair so that it stays out of your face. “Keep talking like that, Holland, and I might just have to take you up on that.” He chuckles lightly and follows you out, joining you under the stairs as you look up to the other boys who stay perched at the top. “Finally,” Harry remarks, pulling out three index cards that no doubt holds his questions. “I was close to just giving Team Tuwarison the points for being the only team that showed up.” “No need,” states Tom, his glazing meeting yours as he nods at you in encouragement. “We’re ready.” His assurance ignites your confidence that your limited knowledge on the movie will be enough. You can feel the win already as Harry asks the first question, then the second, then the third, and then… “BLOODY HELL!” Tuwaine shouts in shock. “WE ACTUALLY WON!” Harrison yells, sharing the same sentiment as the two hug and jump in victory before separating to let out enormous coughs courtesy of the virus. You roll your eyes and pout from your place at the bottom of the stairs. “Oh, get over it you bastards.” “It won’t happen again.” Tom concurs, just as annoyed at the antics of the two as you are. “I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!” Tuwaine shouts again once his coughing fit is over. “Neither can I,” Harry agrees. “What happened? You two are usually always on your game and you couldn’t come up with a single answer this time.” “You know what?” Tom starts. “We actually fell asleep.” he lies. “Shame, I thought y/n really liked it.” Tuwaine acknowledges, remembering your conversation from the night before as your eyes go wide, but you’re quick to save yourself from embarrassment. “Oh you know what, I think that was just during the climax.” you joke, earning a playful elbow from Tom who cannot contain his laughter. You join him, pleased by the inside joke as the other boys look down at you in confusion, wishing they knew what you meant. “I can’t wait until this COVID is over. You two are too weird to have another movie night without supervision.” Harry declares, turning to retreat to the room he shares with Tuwaine and Harrison and searches for the film you all will be watching tonight … or not.

Hi elle i was the anon whose results were supposed to come out today. well, my average fell by two grades. i'm not happy, my parents are not happy. I passed barely with decent scores. I'm going to a mediocre business school this fall (if they even want me) yay i guess. that's it for the update im going to go jump off a cliff now
should i just stop my education? anyways my stupidity and mental health doesn't allow it guess the futures not very bright after all
I'm sorry that it's taken me a few days to respond to this; I will admit I've been having a difficult time myself and didn't feel I had it in me to give this ask the response it deserves.
instead of babbling off motivational quotes about how "it'll all be alright in the end; if it's not alright then it is not yet the end" etc etc, I will tell you a story.
my best friend growing up [and one of my dearest friends still to this day] failed her written drivers test seven times [I don't think either of us really remember the actual number because every time we tell the story, the number grows more and more lol, but it was certainly at least 4-5 times]. Today? She's driving around and we laugh and laugh whenever we tell the story.
my first degree was in psychology. when I was 17-21, my mental health was at an all time low, particularly in my first and second year, and by the third [and then my fourth] I was so unbelievably tired of school... I failed. I failed a lot of classes. I failed a sociology class, I failed my first year intro to psychology! [basically psych 101 - as a psych major], and a few statistics/math courses!
in fact, in my second year I decided to take one class online while my other four were all in person. I submitted the first quiz in that online class and then nothing else for the rest of the semester. I never logged on again, never dropped the course, and by the time I realized what I'd done [or bothered to consider the consequences of putting this class 'out of sight, out of mind'] it was during exam season, and I knew I hadn't learned a single thing in that course and was going to fail, so I never even showed up to the final exam.
you know what I finished that class with? 8%.
on my university transcript, I have an 8%. I didn't just fail, I FAILED.
and you know what else? I got my degree anyway
I have a degree hanging in my office; a degree that saw a lot of tears, a lot of pain, a lot of failures, and a lot of doubts. sometimes I still wonder if I even deserved the degree, seeing as how I was anything but studious or invested in my academics. I graduated, and it was not with honours nor anywhere near top of my class, but I graduated
I even worked for two years in the field immediately post graduation. not only did I get the degree, I also got the job
and then....I took my transcript from my first university - that same transcript that has an 8% on it - and applied to another university....and got accepted
and remember that friend I mentioned? the same one who failed her drivers test an 'obscene' amount of times? she went to nursing school, and did really well. she's a devoted care taker and if anything ever happened to me [or any of my loved ones], I would absolutely want her in charge of my care.
well, she failed her nursing exam. she was devastated; this was all she'd ever wanted to do, the only career she ever saw herself in, and she'd devoted so many years trying to get here
so I reminded her about the drivers test. and I said "sweets, what are we doing right now?" and she was like "...talking?" and I was like "no shut up; right now we are sitting in your car in a McDonald's parking lot that you drove us to...with your license that you got. So yeah, maybe you failed your nurses exam, but you also failed your drivers test, yet here you are almost seven years later having driven an incalculable number of kilometres. you failed your test and it probably sucked at the time, but today we laugh about it and it's nothing but a moment in time. you will nurse one day, and this will be merely a moment in time that you may not even fully remember."
so.......all this to say; tests are sometimes meant to be failed. that's not a comforting thought, and I'm sorry, but you either pass or you fail [or you pass but aren't please with your marks]. and right now this feels big, and right now it feels heavy, but one day this moment and these feelings will only be a memory or a moment in time. I've never been anything but a mediocre student until I went back to college in 2020 [I was twenty four at the time!], and yet I still graduated high school, got accepted to university, failed classes, graduated university, and got accepted to university again.
my friend failed her drivers test numerous times yet owns her own car and drives everyday. she failed her nursing exam yet still tends to patients in hospitals and nursing homes today.
don't stop your education, don't jump off a cliff, and don't be too hard on yourself - it's a moment in time, you're building your lore, and you will be okay.

Hey, I loved this “Your habits and the humans who you keep in your company shape who you're destined to be. Modify accordingly xx” that you said about not changing a flower, but its environment, to help it grow.
Do you by chance have any advice for people that are unable to leave bad environments? My abusers are my care takers. I am disabled and literally can not live elsewhere (aside from being homeless. But I sadly really need the care) I’ve tried everything I can to leave, but it’s really impossible. I know I’m asking a lot, but any tips on growing while in said damaging environment would be much appreciated!
Hi love! This sounds like a difficult position to be in, so I'm sharing much love and sympathy for your situation <3
My best advice for compromising situations like this is: Focus on the aspects of your life you can control. Try your absolute best to accept the rest.
In practice, I would focus on refining these aspects of your life (if they apply to your situation):
Make it a top priority to make your room your sanctuary: Decorate as you please (within whatever budget you have available, of course – small changes can make a huge difference!), light a candle, or use a room spray you love. Keep everything clean and organized to the best of your ability. Play music that you love. Have books, self-care items, journals, coloring books, pens/art supplies, and/or a yoga mat & simple workout equipment within reach to allow yourself to mentally escape at any time.
Carefully curate your media diet: What you watch, read, listen to, and consume online/on TV or Netflix, etc.
Dress and do yourself up in ways you love: Streamline your personal style. Only wear outfits, makeup, hairstyles, nail colors, skincare products, and scents you love. Even if it's just your loungewear or PJs with your favorite lip balm. Every detail makes a difference to help boost your self-confidence.
Engage in online spaces and communities that lift you up: Everyone deserves to feel heard and included when they have zero malicious intentions. Like, comment, and repost content you love. Contribute or start a community-wide discussion. Politely make a first move, and initiate a conversation with a potential new online friend. Whether it's online or IRL, positive social connections can make all of the difference.
Deliberately engage in encouraging self-talk: An underrated aspect of our environment that we often neglect is the stream of consciousness and stories about ourselves that we continuously allow to run in our own minds. Become mindful of the critical or self-defeating narratives you tell yourself on a regular basis or in response to conflicts or generally difficult situations. Consider ways to reframe how you speak to yourself about who you are and your circumstances in a more self-empowering way. Leveling up our inner world is one of the most transformative ways to change how we feel in our environment – even if no changes in the external world seem apparent at first glance.
Hope this helps xx

Timothy Jackson Drake Wayne; Red Robin:
Tumblr media
Age: 20 (default, flexible)
Alias: Red Robin
Headcanons
Tim is Autistic
Timothy Jackson Drake was born to Jack and Janet Drake, both come from old money but well Jack was born and raised in Gotham Janet was not. When he was younger his parents were around more, and they brought him traveling with them. Once he started school they started leaving him at home, he had a nanny at first when he was younger but by the time he was 8 he had skipped 2 grades in school and they decided he didn't need a dedicated nanny. He spent his weeks boarding at school after all.
They had a driver employed for the trips to and from school on Mondays, Fridays and for holidays, a chef who came to make meals for him on the weekends and hired security on the premises even when he wasn't there. He didn't have a dedicated care taker anymore though, and it was rare that he was at home at the same time as his parents.
The last thing that he remembered doing with them as a family was going to Haly's Circus, he was so excited to see it with them after going by himself his driver was with him, but he's pretty sure he only went in with him out of pity the day before during their first show during their stop in Gotham. He didn't expect what happened with the Grayson's any more than the rest of the audience, and it eventually led him to a life he couldn't have imagined.
After that he spent most of his free time, which was a lot with absent parents and being younger than all his classmates, doing school work and obsessing over Batman and later his new prodigy. He put together pieces and figured things out, until he heard one day that Robin had been killed by The Joker. He had a pit in his stomach at that, because he knew what that meant even if others didn't. The Joker had killed Bruce Wayne's son Jason Todd.
When Batman started going off the deep end he went to find Nightwing and talk to him first, when he dismissed him he showed up at Dick's job and told him "I told you why I'm here last night." to which he was guided out to the mans car by his shoulder with an excuse of 'bringing the kid home.' From there he eventually became Robin officially a few weeks before his 13th birthday, trying his best to live up to the title but feeling like he never would. Eventually he became a part of the Teen Titans along with a few other hero friends, traveling back and forth from Titan Tower and Gotham as he was needed.
In December after his 13th birthday he was kicked out of school for missing to much time, because he had so much other stuff to do Tim came to an agreement with Bruce. He would continue to study and learn what he would be in school independently, and when he turned 16 he would take the GED test and apply for online courses for college. The reason his parents weren't notified? Bruce offered to his parents to keep an eye on him and that basically became them letting him become his temporary legal guardian.
After Damian showed up and was made Robin he felt defeated and replaceable, the taunting that he liked to do didn't help the now 14 year olds complex. Despite the fact he wasn't Batman's Robin anymore? He still went out and rebranded himself as Red Robin and working alone, the first time the other's tried to work with him after this he ignored them before explaining the next day why. They had pushed him to the side like he didn't matter, and even if they didn't mean to? He needed time after that.
He was the first one to figure out that Bruce was alive and trapped in time after he was declared dead only 6 months after Damian had come to live with him. In Bruce's absence he kept his word and took the GED test a year and a half before he was originally planning on, getting lawyers involved to allow him to do so to get it out of the way and he could focus on other things. During this time he became doing what he could to keep Wayne Enterprise running smoothly well Bruce was gone, also joining an online college and taking classes for both a business and finance degree.
Once Bruce had returned Tim stepped back at Wayne enterprise, still stepping in when Bruce needed help because he was busy with Batman things. He was only a few months into his college classes when Bruce came back and now with more time to take electives, he added a few photography classes to his roster. He finished his business and finance degrees by the time he was 18, but he kept signing up for different creative classes such as photography, design, digital editing and so on as he wanted until eventually he inadvertently had enough credits for an arts degree at 19.
His parents by now are no better then when he was younger, he saw them maybe once a year and they barley knew what he was up to unless they saw an article about him. When he turned 18 he went to Bruce with a whole power point style argument about why he should officially adopt him now that his parents couldn't argue against it, he didn't need it though and Bruce interrupted on slide 2. He told him that if he wanted to finish his presentation he could, but he didn't need to convince him and if that's what he wanted he could officially adopt him.

Study Group Start-Up Proven Techniques for Success
The weight of textbooks, looming deadlines, and the ever-present pressure to perform can leave even the most dedicated student feeling overwhelmed. But fear not! There’s a powerful weapon in your academic arsenal – the Study Group.
Tumblr media
A well-functioning study group can be a game-changer, offering a supportive environment for collaborative learning, enhanced comprehension, and a much-needed boost in motivation. However, starting a study group and maintaining its effectiveness requires planning and strategic execution. This guide equips you with the knowledge and tools to launch a best study group experience that propels you and your peers towards academic success.
Building the Foundation: The Right Group Matters
The first step in establishing a successful study group lies in assembling the right team. Here’s what to consider:
Shared Goals and Objectives: Are you all struggling with the same challenging course? Or are you looking for a broader support system encompassing multiple subjects? A clear understanding of the group’s purpose ensures everyone is aligned and focused on achieving common goals.
Complementary Learning Styles: Do you learn best visually, through hands-on activities, or by listening to explanations? A diverse group with varied learning styles fosters a richer learning environment, allowing everyone to benefit from different perspectives and approaches.
Commitment and Focus: Seek out individuals who share your dedication to academic success. A group with focused and responsible members is more likely to remain productive and achieve positive outcomes.
Finding Your Tribe: Strategies for Assembling Your Group
Once you have a clear vision for your study group, explore various avenues to find compatible peers:
Classmates and Friends: Connect with classmates in your courses and inquire if they’re interested in forming a study group.
University Resources: Many universities offer student support services that facilitate study group formation. Check with your academic advisor, student success center, or department bulletin boards.
Online Platforms: Utilize online platforms like Facebook groups or dedicated study group matching services to connect with students sharing similar academic needs.
Subject-Specific Clubs or Organizations: Joining subject-specific clubs or organizations can connect you with passionate peers, fostering potential study group connections.
Setting Up for Success: Essential Groundwork
With your group assembled, it’s time to establish the framework for a thriving study experience:
Establish Clear Goals: Outline the objectives for each study session, whether it’s preparing for an exam, reviewing specific topics, or tackling practice problems together. Setting clear goals ensures focused discussions and efficient use of time.
Schedule and Location: Determine a consistent time and location that works for everyone in the group. Consider finding a quiet study space like a library, empty classroom, or dedicated study area at someone’s home to minimize distractions.
Communication Expectations: Discuss preferred communication methods for outside of study sessions. This could involve email chains, group chats, or online platforms like Explain Learning which offer dedicated communication functionalities for study groups.
Structure and Strategies: Making Your Group Sessions Count
Now, let’s delve into the heart of a successful study group – your actual sessions! Here’s how to structure them for maximum effectiveness:
Create an Agenda: Develop a flexible agenda outlining the topics you’ll cover, allowing everyone to come prepared with questions or specific areas needing clarification. This ensures everyone arrives focused and ready to contribute.
Rotate Roles: Consider assigning roles like discussion leader, note-taker, or timekeeper to maintain engagement and shared responsibility. This can also offer valuable leadership experience and strengthen communication skills.
Embrace Active Learning: Move beyond passive textbook discussions. Incorporate active learning techniques like practice problems, brainstorming sessions, explaining concepts to each other, or utilizing Explain Learning’s interactive learning materials to solidify understanding.
Maintaining Momentum: Keys to a Long-Lasting Group

Celebrate Successes: Acknowledge and celebrate individual and collective achievements. This fosters a positive learning environment and motivates everyone to keep pushing forward.
Open Communication and Respect: Encourage honest feedback and open communication within the group. Respect diverse perspectives and learning styles to maintain a positive dynamic.

sorry if you've answered this before but if you don't mind i have an mcat question. i'm starting my studying now, and i wanted to know how you spread out your content review? did you study a little bit from different sections throughout the week, or did you do all the content review for one section before moving onto the next? and if you don't mind sharing what resources you used, it would be much appreciated. good luck with your application and interview processes!
omg hi fellow mcat taker!
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMERS
i have not gotten my score back yet, and honestly i don't feel i performed my best when i took the exam (performance anxiety is Real and it Exists within me @_@) i'm likely going to be studying again to retake - which i accounted for when i began my studies! - so take all my advice with a grain of salt!
TIMELINE
i used a diagnostic to gauge my baseline score before diving into content review. from there i took the sporadic route -- i studied from different sections here & there! since i basically began studying right out of college, there was a good amount of info that i only needed a quick refresher on. i did some research on what previous test-takers said is usually high-yield and focused on those topics as well. about 2 months out i started taking practice FLs -- including my diagnostic, i took a total of 7 FLs prior to my test day with the last one being a week before d-day.
RESOURCES
FREE
Jack Westin is a great online resource. a lot of people recommend their site for CARS and i agree!
i dabbled in some Khan Academy modules from their MCAT course.
if i needed a visual/audio explanation of a concept i went to MCAT Self Prep's youtube channel.
if you lurk through reddit you can also find the MileDown anki deck which is great for active recall in all subjects.
PAID
i started off my content review with TPR's books (i've also heard of friends who used Kaplan's books!) but as time progressed i stopped using them to review and switched to online resources (see above).
as my test date got closer, i started using the sh!t out of UWorld. i got lucky and had a friend who no longer needed their subscription, but if you don't have similar connections i know those prices can get pretty steep. i do however highly recommend this resource because the qbank they have felt similar to the actual exam for me.
when doing FLs i used the ones included in my TPR purchase and then purchased AAMC Practice Exams to mimic the real thing.
TAKEAWAYS
honestly, looking back now i see how disorganized my studying was. but through conversations w other folks who have taken the mcat we've all agreed that you're constantly tweaking your study routine as the months progress. the biggest thing to take into account is your capacity for studying -- consider the amount of time, money, effort you can give to studying while also balancing your other obligations (like classes, work, extracurriculars... your own wellbeing) and move from there!
that was a lengthy response but i hope that answered your questions. if not or if you have more feel free to hmu! give yourself lots of grace when going through this -- you're not alone! a small blog in the abyss of tumblr (me. i'm the blog) is rooting for you :')

Things to Stop Buying and Start Making/Growing:
Learn to be self-reliant; the alternative is being one of the hoards of victims/users/takers that will exist, and may be knocking on your door, when an emergency happens. If you are browsing this and similar blogs, you have the potential and interest to be self-reliant BEFORE that day comes. Here are some suggestions to start the journey: Things to Stop Buying and Start Making to Save Money Ultimate DIY List Of Survival Hacks, Projects and Recipes [Self Sufficient (Farm) Living]    [Planning a One-Acre Farm]
Take baby steps. Taking on too much at once, can be discouraging. Do one project at a time; a small one at first; then progress to larger ones to build confidence.
Get all the details before starting a project so frustration doesn't set in by having to start and stop because something was omitted. The Internet (and library) is filled with resources to help. YouTube is my friend.
The formulation of independent solutions will emerge. In time, doing for yourself will modify your thinking patterns. Instead of being told what to do and how to do it, your brain will starting figuring it out. For me, it can take quite a while before I start a project. I plant the idea in my head, gather all the information I can, and let it stew in my brain until I have all I need to start the project. Think beyond store-bought solutions.
Forget the notion that government is the solution. You are the best one to prepare for your individual needs and condition.
Stay in good physical shape. Diet, exercise and staying away from smoking, drinking and drugs are your first-line defenses to survive a disaster situation.
Be prepared. Document an emergency plan. At the very least, build a 72-hour Emergency Kit.
Develop intuition (gut feelings) instead of relying only on rational thinking.
Develop a survivor personality (flexible, cool-headed, don't give up, accept mistakes and move on). Be adaptable and flexible to change, even in your emergency plan. Life itself is already unpredictable. An emergency will only make things less stable and predictable.
Build personal survival relationships based on moral and upright principals and character and not on their skillset or what they have. People without morals and upright principals will abandon or turn against you.
Expand your information sources to different opinions (than what you may like to hear), news broadcasts (foreign and domestic) and cultures
Learn First Aid
Learn self-defense
Secure your premises
Take a hands-on, practical, basic survival course or go camping and hiking regularly. Occasionally get away from your creature-comforts zone. Know how to build a fire, how to build a primitive shelter, how to find water and how to purify water.
Learn the "Universal Plant Edibility Test"
Learn Ham Radio Operations for emergency communications.
Identifying, gathering and preparing Wild Edible Plants for food
Gardening: Soil, Aeroponics, Hydroponics
Hunting, Trapping and Preparing animals/fish (rural and urban) and raising livestock for food
Produce your own electricity without the use of fossil fuels: Solar - Wind - Water (Hydro)
Staying Warm in the Winter and Cool in the Summer - Naturally
Soap making from scratch with fat and lye
Making Ethanol to use as fuel in combustion appliances (after modification), beverage (moonshine), antiseptic or deodorant
Make your own Personal Care Products
Making natural Yeast
Making your own Antibiotics from plants or Medical cures or treatments from Colloidal Silver
Food Canning and Preservation
Entertainment and Fun Stuff - Survival doesn't always have to be work. More fun stuff
Learn how to make your own weapons from common items
Reloading ammunition
If you own or want a firearm, take a personal/home defense firearms training class and not just a class that only shows you how to shoot.
Educate Your Children at Home or Online More ideas
Self-Sufficiency Standard: The Self-Sufficiency Standard determines the amount of income required for working families to meet basic needs (including taxes) without public subsidies (e.g., public housing, food stamps, Medicaid or child care) and without private/informal assistance (e.g., free babysitting by a relative or friend, food provided by churches or local food banks, or shared housing) at a minimally adequate level, taking into account family composition, ages of children, and geographic differences in costs. Most U.S. states have designated resources to help its citizens reach a level of self-sufficiency. [Related Link]

Why Choose an IELTS Coaching Centre in Calicut
Preparing for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam can be a challenging journey for those aiming to study, work, or migrate abroad. While self-study is an option, many aspirants choose to enroll in an IELTS coaching centre for guidance and support. In Calicut, the demand for IELTS preparation is high, with numerous coaching centres offering professional training. This article will explore the reasons why choosing an IELTS Coaching Centre In Calicut can be a wise decision for test-takers.
Tumblr media
1. Expert Guidance and Training
One of the primary advantages of joining an IELTS Coaching Centre in Calicut is access to experienced and qualified trainers. These professionals are well-versed in the exam format, scoring criteria, and common challenges faced by students. Their expertise helps candidates improve their English language skills while offering personalized feedback on performance. This focused guidance ensures that students are well-prepared for the test's four main components: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

2. Structured Learning Approach
Preparing for the IELTS exam requires a disciplined and systematic study approach. Coaching centres provide a structured learning environment where lessons are tailored to cover all aspects of the exam. Each section is broken down into manageable modules, helping students focus on specific areas for improvement. A well-organized study plan not only reduces stress but also maximizes the use of available study time. In an IELTS Coaching Centre in Calicut, students can expect a step-by-step curriculum designed to enhance their chances of success.
3. Access to Study Materials and Resources
Another significant benefit of joining an IELTS Coaching Centre in Calicut is the availability of comprehensive study materials and resources. Most coaching centres provide a range of practice tests, sample questions, and study guides that mirror the actual exam format. In addition, students have access to digital resources, including video tutorials, online quizzes, and e-books. This variety of resources allows students to practice extensively and familiarize themselves with the test format, thereby building confidence for the exam day.
4. Mock Tests and Performance Evaluation
Mock tests play a crucial role in IELTS preparation, as they give candidates a realistic experience of the exam environment. Many IELTS Coaching Centres in Calicut regularly conduct mock tests that simulate the actual IELTS exam, allowing students to gauge their performance. These tests help identify strengths and areas that need improvement. Moreover, trainers provide detailed evaluations of mock test results, offering constructive feedback that helps students focus on weak areas and improve their overall performance.
5. Customized Study Plans
Every IELTS candidate has different strengths and weaknesses. An IELTS Coaching Centre in Calicut recognizes this and often offers customized study plans tailored to each student's unique needs. For instance, a student who struggles with speaking but excels in reading may receive additional speaking practice to build confidence in that area. Personalized attention and a customized study plan ensure that students receive targeted training that caters to their individual learning styles and requirements.
6. Focused Speaking and Writing Practice
The speaking and writing sections of the IELTS exam are often considered the most challenging by candidates. An IELTS Coaching Centre in Calicut provides ample opportunities for focused practice in these areas. Instructors offer speaking sessions where students engage in mock interviews, enhancing their fluency and confidence in real-life conversations. Similarly, writing practice sessions allow students to receive feedback on grammar, coherence, and vocabulary usage, helping them improve their writing skills for both the Academic and General Training modules of the exam.
7. Time Management Strategies
Time management is crucial when taking the IELTS exam, as each section is timed. Coaching centres in Calicut help students develop effective time management strategies to ensure that they complete each section within the allotted time. Trainers teach students techniques for answering questions efficiently, such as skimming and scanning for reading comprehension or structuring essays for the writing section. Learning these strategies in an IELTS Coaching Centre in Calicut can significantly improve a student's chances of achieving their desired score.
8. Peer Learning and Interaction
Studying in a group setting allows students to interact with peers who share similar goals. At an IELTS Coaching Centre in Calicut, candidates can participate in group discussions, share insights, and learn from each other's experiences. This peer interaction not only enhances learning but also creates a supportive environment that encourages collaboration and motivation. Group study sessions, debate activities, and role-play exercises are often part of the curriculum, fostering communication skills in a real-world context.
9. Boosted Confidence and Reduced Stress
The pressure to perform well in the IELTS exam can be overwhelming. Enrolling in an IELTS Coaching Centre in Calicut provides students with a support system that reduces exam-related stress. Regular practice, expert guidance, and familiarity with the test format help boost confidence, making candidates feel more prepared for the big day. Additionally, knowing that they have access to all the necessary resources and support helps students focus better and approach the exam with a positive mindset.
10. Higher Chances of Success
Ultimately, the goal of joining an IELTS Coaching Centre in Calicut is to increase the chances of achieving a high score. With expert trainers, tailored study plans, access to resources, and continuous feedback, students are better equipped to handle the challenges of the IELTS exam. Coaching centres provide a focused and supportive learning environment that ensures candidates are well-prepared to achieve their desired band score, whether for academic, work, or immigration purposes.
Conclusion
Choosing an IELTS Coaching Centre in Calicut offers numerous benefits, from expert guidance and personalized study plans to access to mock tests and valuable resources. For those looking to maximize their chances of success, enrolling in a coaching centre provides the structured learning environment and support needed to excel in the IELTS exam. Whether you're aiming to study abroad, pursue a career overseas, or migrate to an English-speaking country, investing in professional IELTS training can make a significant difference in your preparation journey.
