Ugh, again I doubt Tumblr is going to die anytime soon. (I've been through a lot of "Twitter is gonna die for real" eras including the time it was fully banned in my country and it's still (unfortunately) up, and if that can survive its current management Tumblr can do it too.) (I've lived through a few "Tumblr is gonna die" events too)
But if it does die I don't wanna lose my boys over flowers analysis/translation posts. I don't care if I lose most of my other posts bc they are gif/art reblogs, and the art on my art blog is saved in my computer so I can just start over somewhere else.
But these posts... I have no idea how to save them with the images and all. I don't wanna install python just for that.
The best idea would be to create a blog on another website for them but Tumblr is like one of the last few blogging websites standing and I don't wanna go to dreamwidth (its image hosting barely exists and same for its userbase)
#im so tired of hopping from site to site#can the 10 other people in this fandom all agree to migrate to the same place and can this place not be a twitter copy plz 🥺#bc we all know its only a matter of time before bluesky becomes twitter 2#and starts having the same problems twitter already had before that incel took over and made it 1000 times worse

How to back up your Tumblr blog
Not sure if all of you heard the news, but Wordpress laid off 16% of its staff, which happened to include senior tumblr staff like cyle. According to 3liza, the amount of staff running tumblr is about 25.
Welp. Will Tumblr finally die? I don't know. It's pretty likely, since this site costs millions to run and to host all this content, but I'll stay till the end. But I backed up my blog, with the help of a post that can't be reblogged rn.
you can reblog this one though.
Quoth butchlinkle: "In your blog settings you have the ability to initiate a blog export, and this will generate a backup for your blog.
Fair warning though, if you’ve been on the platform for a long time this archive is likely to be quite hefty in file size. This blog I have had for 5 years with 22k posts, and the export from tumblr came to be 48GB. My previous blog I made in 2011 and has 95k posts, so needless to say I did not use tumblr’s built in export to back that one up.
If you want more control over exactly what you back up from your blog, I recommend that you use tumblr-utils instead. It allows you to backup specific tags, post types, and to ignore posts that you did not create (reblogs where you’ve added a comment count unfortunately do not count unless you use the older version of the script made with python 2.7).
To use it:
download and install python
create an application on tumblr to get an api key
create a folder where you would like to save your backups and right click to open it in the terminal/command prompt, or type cmd.exe in the address bar from inside that folder
Backing up just my original posts from this blog with this command came to 632MB rather than 48GB, and also gave me the option to save my posts in JSON format which will be useful for converting my posts to a new format for self hosting.
On that note I’m currently looking into figuring out a simple (and ideally free) way of self hosting a static site blog that utilises activitypub, and also converting my old posts to re-host on said blog.
This post series by maho.dev on implementing activitypub with any static site is my primary source of guidance atm if you also want to try figure that out yourself, as well as having an explanation for why you’d even want to do this if you don’t already know
but if tumblr goes down before I get things sorted and write up a post about it then i’ll be reporting back on it via my bsky, mastodon, and toyhouse accounts
if you dont have an account on any of these I’ll also be sharing an update via my personal site’s RSS feed, link of which includes an explanation of what RSS is and some feed readers you can use, I highly recommend checking it out as getting a feed reader is going to be the best way you can stay connected with people if they scatter across the internet!
tldr: download tumblr-utils to backup your blog more efficiently, introduce yourself to RSS and get a feed reader to stay connected with people, consider saving mine so you can find out how to self host your blog later if tumblr goes down."
here's a guide from the notes: https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1yBWlk-yEgpSoEh3c9oLhz_kbLtUGqbqzOpCtJsvQgjI/mobilebasic?pli=1#h.u9vj7pezwpcy
Back up those blogs. This was way faster than trying to use Webarchive, and webarchive seems to be only good for saving text, audio, and video, because it saved none of the images. And remember: I did not write this guide, and I do not know a thing about coding or fixing bugs.

Director Novvkim 💙💙💙
Director Novv posted about his visit to the Arirang Radio two weeks ago and it's honestly such a lovely listen with partial translation provided by the host (Peter)
youtube
He mentions his most recent project being Bang Chan's "Railway" MV and lists his personal faves and I was SO SO happy to see ALEPH "Schadenfreude" the on the list cuz when I first got into checking out more of Director Novv's works I happen to be just in time for this MV to be published and the way I BAWLED MY EYES OUT while on the way home, truly stunning piece of film and storytelling.
youtube
The other two he listed were "Red Lights" and Chung Ha's "I'm Ready" performance video
youtube
And I WILL be biased here but it's honestly really my top 3 of his projects, maybe a strong contestant is GOT7 "PYTHON" MV cuz 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 a work of art.
"I'm Ready" is a personally sentimental piece because it was my first comeback of her for me and throughout the promotion and content released and later when listening to her discography, I could understand how important this was to her and how much happiness it brought her. I'm currently really stoked about her upcoming project ♥️
"Red Lights" being on the list was maybe not an obvious choice, but it makes sense once you remember the MV was listed on The Rolling Stones List of The Best MVs of 2021. A B-SIDE MV. It was incredible and Novv-nim posted about it on IG being surprised as well 💙
Overall, the close bond between Director Novvkim and SKZ is something I cherish a lot, as well as his and artists he works with. He's such a warm person despite his (apparently) cold outside. Also his dedication to keep the deep blue hair is admirable AF
Really looking forward to his work this year 💙

Twst characters and the strangest thing that’s happened to them
HEARTSLABYUL
Riddle: once a student asked him to help them hide some contraband. They didn’t realize riddle was the house warden, or.. you know.. Riddle. Riddle played along for a sec to see what they were hiding, and found they were keeping a fiFTEEN FOOT PYTHON IN THEIR ROOM WITHOUT TELLING THEIR ROOMATES
Trey: once Riddle’s mom asked for a custom cake for a bachelorette party she was hosting. Trey wasn’t sure if she knew who he was, but he wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry
Cater: his sisters trapped him in a box for a few hours and when he got out something was on fire. To this day he doesn’t know what happened
Duce/Ace: they were both going to sneak into MC/Yuu’s dorm for a surprise visit, and saw them throwing something at a mirror and going “LEAVE ME ALONE YOU CREEPY RAT 😭😭😭”. Then they decided to quietly leave
((The “creepy rat” was Mikey mouse /info))
SAVANACLAW
Leona: one time he fell asleep in his bed, but somehow woke up in pomefiore. He has no idea what happened, but he assumes rook has something to do with it. Rook has never confirmed nor denied this
Jack: one time using his signature spell, an influencer™️ went up and tried to take a picture with him. A wolf. He turned back and immediately scolded/yelled at them for being so stupid
Ruggie: he works multiple retail jobs. He’s seen a lot of weird stuff. Once he saw the entirety of scarabia flood a McDonaldDucks wearing banana suits
OCTAVINELLE
Azul/Jade: someone did something disgusting in the sink of the lounge every Monday for two months
Floyd: that time he was used to make face cream
SCARABIA
Jamil: Kalim. But seriously, one time he found someone selling merch of Kalim, and even found a keychain of HIMSELF
Kalim: once Jamil left for a day and Kalim got the entire Scarabia dorm to dress in banana costumes and go to the Spelldrive game and raid random places. It was the best day of his life
POMEFIORE
Vil: he once found fanfic of him and neige and exploded
Epel: once ate one of those “bubble gum flavored” apples by accident and basically fell out of his seat ((trey pranked him))
Rook: neige liked one of his fanfics he wrote about him
IGNIHYDE
Ortho: he once walked in on idia wearing cat ears and a maid outfit and to this day does not know what was going on
Idia: once ortho sent him some WILD fanart of star rogue and went “oops, wrong person 😇”. Idia never got an explanation
DIASOMNIA
Malleus: when scarabia had the banana incident™️ he accidentally wandered in, and was passed a suit. He was so excited to be invited to something he just put it on and didn’t question things
Lilia: he made one of the first memes and no one knows it’s him. He’s like Neil Cicierega of the twst world
Silver: woke up to a “sleeping contest” he was apparently having with Leona by accident. There were people cheering for them and banners set up
Sebek: one time saw yuu call Malleus “babygorl” and malleus didn’t comment??? Is that normal for them??? (Yes)

what’s your preferred way of storing / having access to all of your favorite music nowadays? streaming is getting really bad these days, wondering what your personal opinion is
i don't use streaming services like spotify and try not to meddle in that sphere because i find it venomous and hedonistic, if anything for the extreme consumption of resources necessary to sustain it, but that applies to the internet at large. there's no reason for me to use it when i have better means at my disposal and it fails to host most of my favorite music, the energy is just not there/in any inculcated dependency on corporate entities. is it getting bad by its distribution of royalties, management of intellectual property legalities, or some other domain? personally i store the digital copies of music i value on external hard drives, and to that i would recommend toshiba products. i find youtube to be useful for fetching audio through the python fork of youtube downloader and converting formats with ffmpeg, it's best if the videos allow for timestamped track splitting so you don't have to manually do this in audacity. unfortunately it's impossible to bypass the sacrifice of audio quality required to upload anything to youtube. if you record transfers of your own physical media, it might help to share your files with friends to decrease the chances they might be lost in the case that any of your drives die.

Does anyone remembers, if you are Ukrainians who were born in the 1990s, one of the Ukrainian comedy TV programs/shows/series like the “Monty Python-like” Dovhonosyky Show or The Long-Noses Show (Ukrainian: Шоу Довгоносиків) that you ever saw on TV in your childhood or something or not? For me, as I only saw the first time on YouTube with some archived episodes on video or clips about it (but I didn't watch enough of them, despite my hesitations, though), but it is, to say the least, so awful and weird asf and not so great at all, because of such things as the political situation, absurdist/sketch/bad/offensive jokes, psychological struggles/fights, mess arrangements, totally stupidity, etc., which doesn’t make me any sense at all because of this, but despite the fact that it was one of the more or less best Ukrainian comedy TV programs/shows/series in Ukrainian history, ig. After all, somewhere in the late or middle summer, when a new idea came in, which is let me better to work on drawing out a lot of conceptual sketch doodles of each characters (such as the Host, the Soundman and the Bartender in this pic) from their TV show-series into my own version, hence they were a human-like aliens called Longonosians instead of caricatured people with long or big noses in the original. And eventually, I literally made my new (maybe fan or not) project called "The Long-Nosed Out" (since this title is dialogically combined between "Long-Nose" and "Spaced-Out) which is tribute to the genres of sci-fi and action-comedy (but for now, it will only allow viewing for adults under 18+), but still, it should be without absurdism with bad/sketch/offensive jokes, psychological frenzy as a fight between one, Russifications (more precisely, Russian-speaking), mess arrangements, etc., however, I hope, it will be completely better than its original predecessor.
And I hope you like it and even my version of this humorous TV show either.
Art, Ourailey (a rat-like alien creature on the top side), Pouley (a bird-like alien creature which was loosely inspired by the bird from the same original TV show) and the “Long-Nosed Out” project are belongs to me (C)
The Host (Iva; in my version), the Soundman (“Ball-Head” Andy; my version) and the Bartender (Wul; my version) from the Dovhonosyky Show or The Long-Noses Show (Ukrainian: Шоу Довгоносиків) are belongs to PRO-TV (Ukrainian: ПРО-ТВ)/Viktor Prykhodko (Author and director of this show) (C)

Friendsgiving (E.M.)
Sequel to "Thanksgiving"
This version of Friendsgiving is based on my college days. In 1999, during my first year in college, my friends and I had "Poor Students Thanksgiving." About 7 of my friends arrived at my house the day after Thanksgiving with all their leftovers. We pigged on food and watched "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and "Meet the Feebles." We did that for a couple of years, and I loved how it grew every year. These gatherings are, to this day, some of my favorite memories from my early twenties.
(p.s. I'm immediately going to write filth after this because balance. Specifically, it's about how Eddie's cums too much in you.)
WARNINGS: fluff, casual intimacy, implied sexy times (sexual talk because I can't write just plain fluff anymore, it's gotta be dirty.)
"Bye everyone, see you boys for Hellfire next weekend!"
Eddie smiled as he listened to you usher the last of your guests out of your home. Since Steve hosted last year, the two of you offered to host Friendsgiving this year.
Your first guest arrived at noon. Dustin came with his mom's beef stroganoff, smiling as he and Eddie greeted each other. Eddie was planning to do a quick dungeon for the boys, and you had heard the two laughing and teasing as they prepared for the group while you put the pies in the oven.
The dinner had been a smashing success. Everyone feasted like kings and queens before moving to the living room. While Eddie and the kids did their dungeon crawl, you caught up with Steve, Nancy, and Robin while eating pie.
You closed the night out with movies, Monty Python and Elm Street, before everyone clambered into cars and returned to their homes. The weather was frigid, leaving no doubt that snow would be coming soon.
"Great evening, huh, babe?" Eddie asks as he joins you in the living room to help you clean up.
"It was perfect. It's always nice when we can all get together."
"Listen, I want to talk to you about something."
"Look, if it's about the other night, it's normal to sometimes finish faster than usual. So you had a hair-trigger night; I was flattered and still had a good time." You glance back at Eddie, who looks confused, cow eyes wide with shock. Whoops.
"Uh, not at all what I was gonna say, but we will circle back. It's about Thanksgiving." Eddie approaches, and he takes your hands when he stands before you. He runs his thumbs over the backs of your hands, brow furrowed as he thinks about what he will say.
"Hey," you tell him quietly. You can't help smiling when his gaze meets yours. "You're scaring me here."
"It's good, I promise. It's just that Thanksgiving is when you're supposed to tell the people in your life that you're thankful for them, and I need you to know that I am. You make my life so much better by just being here. You're the best thing to ever happen to me, and I'm thankful that I get to call you mine every day, and I'm sorry I don't say it more."
"Oh, Eds," you say before leaning up and kissing him softly on his plush lips. Eddie responds by cupping your face and tilting your head so he can savor you more. When he pulls away, he leans to rest his forehead against yours.
"Love you, Princess."
"Love you too, babe. But you show me every day you care even if you don't say anything."
"What do you mean?"
"You show me all the time. You show me by filling my tank when you notice I'm low. Or how you get up super early to warm my car before work. You have dinner ready on the nights I come home late. You picked up the newest book by Stephen King for me when I was stuck at work!" Eddie chuckles as he pulls you into a hug.
"Of course I do that; I want my girl safe and happy."
"And I am. I'm thankful for you, too, and I hope we get many more holidays together." You kiss him again and then return to cleaning the living room and kitchen.
When Eddie returns from taking out the trash (and probably leaving leftovers for the raccoons), he finds you putting the last dishes on the drying rack.
"Hey Princess, is that everything?"
"Yes, sir, our castle is now more or less back to normal."
"Good." You shriek when he comes barrelling at you, and with a strength you sometimes forget he possesses, hauls you over his shoulder and starts walking down the hallway.
"Eddie, you're gonna drop me!" His response is a quick slap to your butt, which causes you to let out a whimper which is music to his ears.
"I'm about to show you how thankful I am for you, doll. I also need to make up for the other night. Can't have you thinking I'm some two-pump chump." He drops you onto your bed and immediately begins undressing. You feel your heart catch in your throat as he climbs on the bed and crawls to you, pressing you back until he's hovering over you.
"Eddie, I said it was ok."
"Nah," he says with that panty-dropping smirk. "Ok isn't good enough. In honor of the holidays, I believe I'll start by spending the next 20 minutes or so feasting on my favorite piece of pie."
"20 minutes!" you say with a start as Eddie's hands begin pulling down your skirt along with your panties.
"And that's just to start. Don't worry though, if you're a good girl for me, I'll give you your own cream pie at the end of the night. More than one if you're really good."
"Whatever you say, Eds."

Hello all!
Because I personally have a weird fear about watching cool Python videos/interviews online and then losing access to them, I have accumulated a (small) number of Python and Python-adjacent clips that I’ve downloaded to my computer. I’m wondering if there would be much interest from others for me to try to create some sort tiny repository for these clips since it seems like YouTube and other video sources are not terribly reliable.
Google Drive or maybe Dropbox are the only sites coming to mind right away as potential hosts for this, but if anyone is interested then I would really appreciate other suggestions of (ideally free) file sharing websites. To be clear, for all I know, all of these videos could be available elsewhere currently and I’m not claiming that any of them are super rare or obscure. I just know that sometimes I’ll save something to a YouTube playlist and come back a week later to it being taken down which can be frustrating. Some of these clips were also downloaded so I could use a snippet in one of my videos I put together, so I also like to keep copies in case the source links I put in the comments of my posts die.
Anyway, I’m not super active in Python anymore but it could be cool to maybe give someone a chance to see an interview or something that they haven’t been able to find before! Please feel free to like or let me know in some way if this interests you or if you have advice for the best way to give people access to these files and I will see if I can work on something. Thanks!

Gemini Code Assist Enterprise: AI App Development Tool

Introducing Gemini Code Assist Enterprise’s AI-powered app development tool that allows for code customisation.
The modern economy is driven by software development. Unfortunately, due to a lack of skilled developers, a growing number of integrations, vendors, and abstraction levels, developing effective apps across the tech stack is difficult.
To expedite application delivery and stay competitive, IT leaders must provide their teams with AI-powered solutions that assist developers in navigating complexity.
Google Cloud thinks that offering an AI-powered application development solution that works across the tech stack, along with enterprise-grade security guarantees, better contextual suggestions, and cloud integrations that let developers work more quickly and versatile with a wider range of services, is the best way to address development challenges.
Google Cloud is presenting Gemini Code Assist Enterprise, the next generation of application development capabilities.
Beyond AI-powered coding aid in the IDE, Gemini Code Assist Enterprise goes. This is application development support at the corporate level. Gemini’s huge token context window supports deep local codebase awareness. You can use a wide context window to consider the details of your local codebase and ongoing development session, allowing you to generate or transform code that is better appropriate for your application.
With code customization, Code Assist Enterprise not only comprehends your local codebase but also provides code recommendations based on internal libraries and best practices within your company. As a result, Code Assist can produce personalized code recommendations that are more precise and pertinent to your company. In addition to finishing difficult activities like updating the Java version across a whole repository, developers can remain in the flow state for longer and provide more insights directly to their IDEs. Because of this, developers can concentrate on coming up with original solutions to problems, which increases job satisfaction and gives them a competitive advantage. You can also come to market more quickly.
GitLab.com and GitHub.com repos can be indexed by Gemini Code Assist Enterprise code customisation; support for self-hosted, on-premise repos and other source control systems will be added in early 2025.
Yet IDEs are not the only tool used to construct apps. It integrates coding support into all of Google Cloud’s services to help specialist coders become more adaptable builders. The time required to transition to new technologies is significantly decreased by a code assistant, which also integrates the subtleties of an organization’s coding standards into its recommendations. Therefore, the faster your builders can create and deliver applications, the more services it impacts. To meet developers where they are, Code Assist Enterprise provides coding assistance in Firebase, Databases, BigQuery, Colab Enterprise, Apigee, and Application Integration. Furthermore, each Gemini Code Assist Enterprise user can access these products’ features; they are not separate purchases.
Gemini Code Support BigQuery enterprise users can benefit from SQL and Python code support. With the creation of pre-validated, ready-to-run queries (data insights) and a natural language-based interface for data exploration, curation, wrangling, analysis, and visualization (data canvas), they can enhance their data journeys beyond editor-based code assistance and speed up their analytics workflows.
Furthermore, Code Assist Enterprise does not use the proprietary data from your firm to train the Gemini model, since security and privacy are of utmost importance to any business. Source code that is kept separate from each customer’s organization and kept for usage in code customization is kept in a Google Cloud-managed project. Clients are in complete control of which source repositories to utilize for customization, and they can delete all data at any moment.
Your company and data are safeguarded by Google Cloud’s dedication to enterprise preparedness, data governance, and security. This is demonstrated by projects like software supply chain security, Mandiant research, and purpose-built infrastructure, as well as by generative AI indemnification.
Google Cloud provides you with the greatest tools for AI coding support so that your engineers may work happily and effectively. The market is also paying attention. Because of its ability to execute and completeness of vision, Google Cloud has been ranked as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for AI Code Assistants for 2024.
Gemini Code Assist Enterprise Costs
In general, Gemini Code Assist Enterprise costs $45 per month per user; however, a one-year membership that ends on March 31, 2025, will only cost $19 per month per user.

Lumberjack Day
Dress up as a lumberjack, eat a hearty meal, and honor the venerable, crucial, and often dangerous profession of lumberjacking with a thanks to lumberjacks.
“Oh, I’m a lumberjack and I’m okay….” Monty Python famously sang this ridiculously silly Lumberjack Song, and singing a rendition of this would certainly be appropriate as part of the celebration of Lumberjack Day!
History of Lumberjack Day
Lumberjacks have been an interesting part of human history for many years, felling trees for use in building houses and structures as well as for making paper and other helpful uses. And while this profession was certainly around long before, the specific term “lumberjack” actually comes from Canada where it can be traced back to a letter written in the year 1831. Other terms, such as “wood cutter” or the more modern “logger” are also appropriate for the people who do this type of work.
The history of Lumberjack Day can be traced back to the mid-2000s when Marianne Ways and Colleen AF Venable decided it was time to honor this esteemed profession. Venable herself worked as a lumberjack at one point, although she has admitted that the original idea for the day was conceived as an excuse to go out and eat pancakes and waffles with friends!
Lumberjack Day has caught on in more recent years and is now celebrated by many folks, especially in Canada and the United States.
How to Celebrate Lumberjack Day
Have a load of fun and celebrate the ruggedness of this profession on Lumberjack Day! Check out some of these ideas for making plans and observing the day:
Dress Like a Lumberjack
One delightful and simple way to get on board with celebrating National Lumberjack Day might be to take a page out of their fashion book. Dress for the outdoors and chopping down trees by donning some jeans or work pants and a pair of sturdy boots, then top them off with a perfect plaid flannel shirt. Even more fun, add a fake beard and a beanie cap for the perfect look. In certain workplaces, carrying a real axe might be going a bit too far, but a fake one from a costume shop might be kind of fun!
Go Out for Pancakes and Waffles
Since the motivation of the original founder of Lumberjack Day was to go out with friends to eat mountainous piles of pancakes and waffles, it seems like the right way to celebrate this day even now. Head on over to a favorite breakfast-all-day restaurant and enjoy a stack or two with yummy Canadian maple syrup!
Host a Lumberjack Day Party
Anyone who wants to join in on the fun of Lumberjack Day can organize a party for friends and family where the idea is for everyone to dress up in the cliché lumberjack style of plaid shirts, boots, suspenders, and beards. Provide snacks and treats with a wood cutter theme, such as pretzels (that resemble cut wood), fresh broccoli stems (that look like little trees), and cheese puffs (or campfire flames). Don’t forget to dress the table in a red plaid flannel tablecloth!
For entertainment, the group can certainly watch some Monty Python episodes, particularly the ninth episode of the BBC show, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, which features The Lumberjack Song. Other ideas for how to enjoy a party for the day might be to do a little online research and learn about lumberjack jargon, jokes, drinks, and recipes.
Attend Some Lumberjack Day Festivities
Several different communities in the United States have events and even full weekends that celebrate the fun and festivities of the lumberjack. Lumberjack Day is the ideal time to make plans to visit one, or several, of these community events. From Orofino, Idaho to Stillwater, Minnesota, and all the way over to West Point, California, the celebration of lumberjacks is worth pursuing whether near or far.
Parades, contests, entertainment, live music, flower shows and so much more can be found in communities celebrating Lumberjack Days. And the best celebrations will, of course, include access to an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast!

Monty Python AU idea I have for some reason:
The Pythons (& Co) but they're flatmates in a British flatshare comedy...... probably set in modern day or something.
What do you personally think of this?
I adore it!
Graham- Quiet guy who just watches the chaos (delivers all of the best one liners)
John- Brings home a new woman every week, and likes to scream at people (the fans make edits of him)
Terry- The tortured bohemian who will not clear up, even if you pay him
Eric- Hosts parties every weekend and wakes up his roommates by serenading them outside their door
Jonesy- Also brings home a new woman every week but somehow remains friends with all of them. The mum friend of the group.
Michael- Tries to keep order but fails miserably. Likes to bitch about everyone else to the camera.

Alright, I wanna know more about that plant thingy (if i recall its a plant) you mentioned in the tags of the nsfw lore post! Also are you not doing emotes right now?
Hiya, sorry I won't be doing emote commissions anymore because emote commissions are extremely draining and unfulfilling. However, I can indeed talk about the plant.
Minors, do not interact with this post. You will be blocked.
18+ text below!
The Vitis futuo, also referred to as the Loverbinds, are a sprawling, carnivorous mobile vine closely related to wild brambles. They spread seeds by implanting them inside creatures that pass by, which will then pass the seeds later and spread them to new locations. This is not without reward to their hosts, for the vine's sweet aphrodisiac nectar is full of nutrients.
No large host will ever come out of an encounter with Loverbinds with any significant harm, though smaller animals such as rabbits and hawks can be ensnared in the vines and dragged underground, where they will be digested by acidic juices secreted from the root system.
That isn't to say these aren't dangerous to people and large creatures like dragons though. While they will not go out of their way to harm a host, a Loverbind has enough coiling strength to be able to break bones and cut off airflow/blood circulation, even on a dragon.
In some cultures, such as faun and peacefur culture, Loverbinds go by other names such as daggervines or python vines due to the fact that they will always digest those smaller sophonts rather than using them as hosts. A common PSA taught to those fauns and peacefurs exploring the deep jungles and forests of the west is that if you're ever caught by one, don't struggle. Going limp is the best way to avoid getting eaten because the vines don't eat anything that doesn't move.
The seeds of the Loverbinds are rare and highly sought after by collectors, fetching a high fortune due to the vast utility of both the seeds and the vines- the vines themselves are fast-growing under partial shade and make for an excellent addition in soups and curries, the nectar is popular in high-brow perfumes and as an ingredient in substitute honey, and the seeds are delicious snacks when well-cooked.
Loverbind cultivation is an art in of itself, considering that these plants only flower in the spring and spread their seeds in the summer. All other times of the year, they prefer being truly carnivorous. Loverbinds prefer partial shade and warm weather, are pollinated only by a single species of hummingbird, and don't grow well in captivity even if the conditions are perfect.
While they can grow up to 30 meters in diameter in the wild, no captive Loverbind has ever surpassed 3 meters in size. Despite several centuries of attempted cultivation, it's still a mystery why these plants refuse to grow under human care.
Captive Loverbinds also flower and seed less, meaning their seeds and nectar are much rarer than the harvested vines and are often poached from the wild.
Loverbinds are threatened, near endangered, due to this poaching. Wildlife conservationists are lobbying for laws to be passed to prevent these special and unique plants from being harvested for parts.

[An overseer is ‘sitting’ next to the scavenger as they look at Innocence’s sleeping form.]
Hey bud, isn’t it kinda weird our friend is uh… still sleeping? Like, we should be moving out by now. I mean I know we’ve been waiting for like, six minutes, but it feels like a month! And yeah, I know you don’t understand me.
(OOC: Heyyyy so uh, sorry if it’s rude but I didn’t see a place to submit an ask on the website so I’m asking here. Is this blog ever going to be updated in the near future? If not, do you plan to still continue it or is like, irl stuff putting weight in your shoulders? I wanna join the disc and ask questions but stupid anxiety is making me not do it. If you’re still working on it or left the project, don’t feel pressured to continue, it would be selfish of me to ask that of you.
tl;dr: I kinda just want an update on the current situation Innocence Won’t Save You is in.)
OOC: YES HI HELLO I'M STILL ALIVE THANK YOU FOR ASKING ACTUALLY
Short answer: Yes there's. Shit going on in my life. Mostly school work; this has been one of my busiest quarters so far and I'm constantly swamped with work and haven't had the free time to really sit with IWSY and work out what I want/need to do.
Longer answer: Yes there is currently no way to submit on the website I am so sorry. When I said this would move off Tumblr I meant it and I was finding ways to do that, but I kept hitting roadblocks because I started learning web dev Solely for IWSY. Ultimately my progress on the javascript tutorial stalled (due to aforementioned busyness) and other people let me know that Neocities isn't... the best place to host comments locally? So that threw a wrench into the plans.
I've admittedly not written much for IWSY in the time since I announced we'd be migrating off Tumblr. In hindsight I kind of wish I'd waited a little, but I think this quarter would have done this to me regardless of if I'd wanted to migrate or not. However, I still want to work on IWSY. This project is NOT abandoned. I'm just very busy :'D in a good way though! After a bit of a rough spell, my life right now is, without exaggeration, the best it's ever been, and aside from just plain being busy, I'm also trying to enjoy being alive for once. Unfortunately it means things have been and will continue to be very, very slow here for the foreseeable future.
But I do have a small update. I gave up on trying to code comments locally, and instead found an open source commenting plugin called Isso that I'm hoping to install on the website. Actually doing so will require time I don't currently have since I. Uh. Don't know python. But if all goes well, I will have that set up at some point, and then I can get started on scene 14. I can't guarantee anything on that while this quarter is still going on unfortunately, but I will promise you all that once my summer break starts (which is in June since my school runs on a quarter system), I'll put more time and effort into this again.
If you'd like to help get the comments set up I would deeply appreciate it, but again I don't think I can see myself writing any long form creative fiction until I have the time to dedicate my mind to it, especially given what IWSY is. I'm really sorry about that, but I'm glad to hear that you're still interested in this story! So sorry about the radio silence, I really should have updated a few times since the last post I made, but thank you again for asking and reminding me to at least say something.
So TLDR, no the story isn't dead, I'm just hella busy and trying to appreciate life.
#for a more personal update: i befriended my roommate and now i have access to cuddles :)#he's a very sweet person but he also happens to be a partial cause of me not having as much time#because i opt to spend time with him instead of cooping myself up in my room working on my laptop#way more fun? yeah! but it means i have less time for stuff like this while the quarter wears on#i also have some research obligations on top of four classes so i am Swamped#bear with me while i ride out the rest of may and the first half of june#but mark my words. i Will be back#and i'm slowly cooking stuff for IWSY in the process#nothing i can reveal but there has been some new stuff since i last wrote for this story#also if you've seen my work on the mods wiki: shhh#it's easier to write nonfiction

You sit on the couch in your study, laptop propped on your knees, working on your current project when the door opens to admit your curious alternate once more, carrying a steaming mug in one hand and a small stack of books under his other arm.
You glance up at him, briefly, before returning your gaze to the Python script on your screen. Odd circumstances aside, this is still the best place in the house to get work done without being disrupted too much.
"How kind of you to forfeit the desk to me, Artemis," says the alternate Artemis as he seats himself in the desk chair, tone void of the appreciation his words would otherwise convey. You'd had an argument over who gets the desk that nearly got physical earlier in the day, and though it hurts your pride to surrender, you'd rather not have a repeat.
"Of course, Artemis," you reply without looking his way, just as cold. "I am nothing if not a gracious host, after all."
"You ought to give yourself more credit," he says. "Surely you're worth more than nothing, if only the smallest amount."
You pointedly do not take that bait. "Here to get some work done, or do you just enjoy my company that much?"
"A bit of both, if you can believe it." He sets the mug on the coaster you've always had in its specific spot, and you wonder for a moment if he has the same coaster in that same spot, or if it's simply part of your own study taking precedence over an otherwise empty space. Your alternate places the stack of books carefully on his lap and continues, "I'm conducting some research, and you will be a part of it."
"I'm afraid I'm busy, Artemis," you say, gaze flitting over your work so far, searching for any errors.
"You will be a part of it," he repeats.
"Just in case you didn't hear me the first time: I'm busy. Some of us have a schedule to keep, you know."
"Fortunately for the both of us, I know the man who keeps your schedule," he says, voice laced just the tiniest bit with venom, "and between you and me, he's a bit... well, I'm sure you know."
You do not reply.
"Working at nearly nine at night, really? Don't you ever take a break, spend time with your family?"
"You sure are one to talk," is your perfectly neutral response. "But perhaps you're right; I suppose I could use a break."
"Then let's get on with our research, shall we?" It doesn't go unnoticed by you how he refers to his own research as a joint effort in an attempt to entice you to play his game. "I've some theories I'd like to run by you."
You close your laptop and take it under your arm as you stand up. "Libraries are a fantastic resource for this kind of research. I'm sure there's one still open right now."
With that said, you leave the room, not listening for his response.

More Notes on the Computer Music Playpen
I have finished maintenance on the VST3 plugin opcodes for Csound, Csound for Android, and some other things, and am re-focusing in composition.
One thing that happened as I was cleaning up the VST3 opcodes is that I discovered a very important thing. There are computer music programs that function as VST3 plugins and that significantly exceed the quality or power what Csound has so far done on it own, just for examples that I am using or plan to use:
The Valhalla reverbs by Sean Costello -- I think these actually derive from a reverb design that Sean did in the 1990s when he and I both were attending the Woof meetings at Columbia University. Sean's reverb design was ported first to Csound orchestra code, and then to C as a built-in opcode. It's the best and most widely used reverb in Csound, but it's not as good as the Valhalla reverbs, partly because the Valhalla reverbs can do a good job of preserving stereo.
Cardinal -- This is a fairly complete port of the VCV Rack "virtual Eurorack" patchable modular synthesiser not only to a VST3 plugin, but also to a WebAssembly module. This is exactly like sticking a very good Eurorack synthesizer right into Csound.
plugdata -- This is most of Pure Data, but with a slightly different and somewhat smoother user interface, as a VST3 plugin.
I also discovered that some popular digital audio workstations (DAWs), the workhorses of the popular music production industry, can embed algorithmic composition code written in a scripting language. For example, Reaper can host scripts written in Lua or Python, both of which are entirely capable of sophisticated algorithmic composition, and both of which have Csound APIs. And of course any of these DAWs can host Csound in the form of a Cabbage plugin.
All of this raises for me the question: What's the playpen? What's the most productive environment for me to compose in? Is it a DAW that now embeds my algorithms and my Csound instruments, or is it just code?
Right now the answer is not simply code, but specifically HTML5 code. And here is my experience and my reasons for not jumping to a DAW.
I don't want my pieces to break. I want my pieces to run in 20 years (assuming I am still around) just as they run today. Both HTML5 and Csound are "versionless" in the sense that they intend, and mostly succeed, in preserving complete backwards compatibility. There are Csound pieces from before 1990 that run just fine today -- that's over 33 years. But DAWs, so far, don't have such a good record in this department. I think many people find they have to keep porting older pieces to keep then running in newer software.
I'm always using a lot of resources, a lot of software, a lot of libraries. The HTML5 environment just makes this a great deal easier. Any piece of software that either is written in JavaScript or WebAssembly, or provides a JavaScript interface, can be used in a piece with a little but of JavaScript glue code. That includes Csound itself, my algorithmic composition software CsoundAC, the live coding system Strudel, and now Cardinal.
The Web browser itself contains a fantastic panoply of software, notably WebGL and WebAudio, so it's very easy to do visual music in the HTML5 environment.
