steddie buzzfeed unsolved au. the boys explore various true crime cases and supposedly haunted sites across the country and fall in love along the way (not to imply anything abt shane and ryan /gen) ive seen a few but they all get one key detail wrong: steve is shane, eddie is ryan.

eddie is passionate about all of their cases— he started the show, originally with his friend gareth who decided to pursue other opportunities. he wholeheartedly believes in all the things that go bump in the night. he is also a self proclaimed coward who tends to scream, curse or even flee when shit gets real. he’s dedicated to the cause though and works through his fear

steve is passionate too, of course — he absolutely pulls his weight in the show and cares a lot abt it all and is genuinely very proud of their content. he just… doesnt believe in the supernatural. its all bullshit, so there’s nothing to be scared of. he takes joy in calling all sorts of ghosts, ghouls and demons “nerd ass punk losers who get no bitches” and doing comedically deranged shit like stealing a bridge or laying on a pentagram or whatever while eddie hyperventilates across the room

except the upside down shit all still happened (excluding eddie, obviously) so steve is 100% aware of the supernatural shit that does exist in the world. after alternate hell dimensions, he wouldnt Really be surprised by ghosts, though he is genuinely sceptical of most evidence.

eddie is infinitely confused by his cohost — he staunchly rejects even the most damning supernatural evidence, but he is a member of the most bizarre group of people eddie has ever met. and he’s superstitious abt the weirdest shit as well — flickering lights, faulty magnets, broken compasses. he once hurried them out of a building during an investigation because they heard a weird clicking sound, spent about 15 minutes on the phone with someone called owens to confirm that “everything was still shut off” (and what the actual fuck does that even mean????) before apologising for the ‘false alarm’ and suggesting they just continue the investigation and cut all that shit from the video. it was the first time any of the crew, including eddie, had ever seen steve scared.

eventually, once theyre together, steve tells eddie about his own experiences with the supernatural, with a handy demonstration from el to really sell it. eddie is horrified, especially when steve tells him he still doesnt believe in demons.

GHOST FILES HEADCANONS ☆

•Shane loves to scare the both of you. On and off camera. And especially when exploring haunted locations (or "supposedly haunted" as he would say)

•Purposfuly sneaks up behind you when your not looking and just stands there silently, grinning ghoulishly while waiting for you to turn around

•More often than not you can tell when Ryan's the one he goes after. It's kind of hard to miss that girlish scream followed by a joyful cackle anyways

•Staying on track with the whole scare/prank thing, occasionally you and Ryan will get your revenge on the lanky legged man

•The little shit—being Shane—tends to fall asleep at the office sometimes. And by sometimes I mean quite a lot. He's woken up with sticky notes plastered onto his face more times than not

•You and Ryan had the fun idea to draw on his face with sharpies once, only getting as far as drawing two balls and half of a dick on his face before he woke up

•That was fun. Getting a stapler thrown at your torso, not so much

•The night Shane decided to dye his hair, Sarah had sent you both a picture of him at three am with tinfoil on his head (not so coincidentally forgetting to mention the important context that he had decided to dye it) with the caption "said he believes in aliens now"

•Then she calmly turned off her phone, set it down, and walked off giggling

•"Sarah why did Ryan and (Y/n) change my name in the group chat to liar in all caps."

•All of you definitely have different types of music taste. Shane most likely likes country music, while Ryan seems more like a pop kind of guy. Both of them have taken the liberty of playing the role of a karaoke bar on long road trips to filming locations. Much to your chagrin

oh no of course. it’s a totally normal au so yeah why would you

send me an au (mine or an idea u got!) and i’ll give you some headcanons!

so jack’s dad was a cop, which is complicated, because jack’s dad was an asshole.

but jack thought it was something that he could do better? like he never saw his dad as a cop just that his dad was an asshole and a cop as well. so the idea of doing it better, being the hero, seduced him into it… so jack’s hatred of the NYPD is much more systematic than davey’s because. that’s literally how they got his ass. and he’s sooo ashamed of it so it’s both a guilt complex and a driving force behind his work, which are my favorite kinds of characters.

jack is alsooooo not an alcoholic but not…… not…… he has an issue let’s call it

also he’s not adverse to blood, but he actually really doesn’t like it. like he’ll look away from a body when he can afford to.

most of my daveys are rationalizers and justifiers, whether it be funneling his own emotions or defending his actions. historically bad at being wrong, especially since he rarely is. but when he is, this davey specifically is… ugly about it. he’s uncomfortable with being wrong, and when he knows he is, he’ll nitpick and criticize and rip into the person who is right’s way of working. petty, as all the greatest daveys are <3

davey also has very few pictures of his family like on display in his apartment. not like he doesn’t have any, but for him, it distracts him since he’ll get emotional and therefore distracted.

charlie morris is the best character (headcanon). it’s a fact i’m joking

but is more of a little brother figure than i normally make him (despite. ok bfu is an outlier he’s young in that) like he’s five years younger than jack, finished college like a couple years prior. he’s also a really good sketch artist because jack taught him

he also very accidentally stumbled into whatever profession this is.. like he studied biomed in college and thought he was going to work in labs for the rest of his life, which was fine, since that’s not too much movement for him and also solid in like. job retention. but in the meantime he was going to do some assistant work. but jack’s ad for an assistant did not indicate the forensics of it all, so c didn’t learn on the fly per se bc it’s his background, but his detective work is seriously extremely impressive since that was newer for him.

basically he’s the genius of this story. big shock rizz gives charlie the coolest parts of the aus they write

finally we have katherine. and katherine is a reporter, which is bad. which can be good. but while kath is more protective of jack because of their personal history, i will say that she will stop at nothing for a good article.

which i’m hoping will bite ppl in the ass later. we’ll see what i do with her.

So if N.N Bergara and Ricky Goldsworth are siblings, I think that means that C C Tinsley and Shane 'Legs' Madej are also brothers. The interactions that could come of that between all of them is amazing to imagine. (Also if CC is a detective and Ricky finds out that CC's younger brother is a criminal but he'd never turn him in, I feel like Ricky would use that to mercilessly taunt him)

I’d love for that to be a big reveal in the context of a long game of cat and mouse between them. Ricky drops clues about his current location and a potential meeting with an artefact smuggler, enticing CC with the opportunity to catch him.

CC shows up to the lounge where Ricky is seated in a booth, enjoying the most expensive glass of wine they have. It’s the most innocuous moment between them, meeting face to face as CC sits at the bar, all of Ricky’s secret sins laid out between them and CC knows that all he needs is for Ricky’s guest to arrive, proving without a doubt that Ricky is involved in the most recent case of international artefact smuggling. He’ll finally get to arrest him. 

Ricky looks directly at him, smiling real big as the front doors open. Legs and his partner Night Night walk in. Legs is suprised and happy to see CC and gives him a hug. CC is frozen, staring at Ricky in incredulity and horror over Shane’s shoulder; he can’t arrest his twin brother because otherwise authorities will know he’s related to someone directly involved in the case– a perfect conflict of interest– and get him taken off by the captain. CC knows Ricky knows he’s been compromised for a long time because of Legs and his protective love for his brother; he promised their mother he’d look out for Legs no matter. 

It’s Ricky’s most terrible way of getting him where he wants him. CC’s worked so hard for years meticulously and ardently, trying to catch Ricky in the act; his superiors call him obsessed with Ricky and now this! Ricky gives CC a little wave as he murmurs an apology and leaves the bar. 

He just needs to get Ricky alone. catch him in the act. Something.

I want to see the Professor doing normal things. I want to see him grade papers. I want to see him reading a book sitting on a windowsill and swinging his little fuzzy legs. I want to see him be anatomically expressive and be able to do simple things like gesture or adjust his glasses. I want to see him hunt down little spiders and snack on them. I want to see him wander the halls of Watcher HQ. I want to see him write on chalkboards. I want to see him sitting in chairs and having casual conversations like a person. have some headcanons on a ghost hunter/buzzfeed unsolved type of Andrew and Neil au:

in the off-season, Andrew takes an interest in watching ghost hunting videos and shows since he never had much to do. he would always tell Neil about how he wanted to visit some of these locations to see if he could find any evidence.

Andrew is the one who believes in the paranormal while Neil is the skeptic. Neil thinks ghost hunting is bullshit, but he supports Andrew.

Neil mentions to his coach that he and Andrew might travel for ghost hunting, and he immediately thought it was a perfect opportunity for a mini-series.

their professional team had a youtube channel where they would occasionally post team videos and clips from games, but during the off-season they didn’t have much to post.

shortly after the idea came forward, it got approved to be filmed and funded over the next few weeks to be edited for nearer to when the season would start.

the episodes are all over thirty minutes long. every episode starts with a brief introduction on the location which goes into Andrew talking about the paranormal history.

Neil often interjects with comments on his beliefs on ghosts and how evidence could obviously be fake. Andrew just rolls his eyes and continues like Neil never spoke.

after Andrew goes through the history, it cuts to them at the location. it’s usually in the middle of the night when they film, so they have to wear stupid-looking headlights that Neil endlessly complains about.

the majority of the video is them walking through the house using the various different types of equipment to try and get a response from the ghosts.

after their walkthrough together, they go in individually with go pros to talk to the ghosts for a few minutes to try and get some final pieces of evidence.

when reviewing the evidence, Neil denies the small pieces of evidence they manage to get (whispers, creaks in the floors, mumbled words) with any excuse he can think of. Andrew pretends to be annoyed but quickly gets back to reviewing.

when the series is released, exy fans go insane. everyone is hooked on this series because it’s so unlike everything they had ever seen from Neil and Andrew who have the reputation to be quite scary.

some fans speculate that Andrew and Neil are together romantically. Andrew and Neil never publicly say that they are dating, but they don’t deny it either. Neil enjoys the comments about the speculation.

after the massive success of the first season, the management team asks them if they would like to film a second season when they have off time during the season. Andrew and Neil agree without much deliberation.

they both genuinely enjoy ghost hunting, even if Neil doesn’t believe in ghosts. he enjoys hearing the stories and the small signs of excitement Andrew shows when they get something.

what if the reason why they never get any proof at the locations isnt because shane is scaring everything off but because all the spirits/demons know shane likes ryan and are either...

‘paid’ off by shane to be quiet so he can make the ghost hunts dates because he knows it’s something ryan loves

or

purposely keeping quiet to make the hunts more “romantic” and when shane is yelling at the demons or spirits he really means it and wants them to do something instead of leaving him alone with ryan because “listening to ryan getting scared of what he is, isnt his idea of romantic”

Shane really would like to keep the fact he's from hell a secret

Being sent to kill the two of you for meddling in things you didn't understand was simple enough. But getting attached to the two of you? Not on his list

Not that he minds. Shane enjoys playing the part of the human best friend for the two of you. Enjoys it, rather. He can't remember the last time any humans successfully captivated him like this. Not like anyone from hell could stop him, seeing as he was the most powerful entity. Only second to Lucifer himself

He had a blast, and not just because it was funny to see you two jumping at random noises when all the ghosts were halfway across the building

Shane found himself growing fonder and fonder of the each of you with every passing day

But they did come in handy when you and Ryan would occasionally come across a truly evil spirit. He would simply excuse himself then to threaten the ghost(s)

Intends on staying friends with you lot for as long as he can after all. Can't have you being killed by some angry nuns now could he?

THE HQ BOYS AS GHOSTS ON BUZZFEED UNSOLVED (OR JUST GHOSTS IN GENERAL)   —   remember the post i made earlier about some of the boys being on bfu not as ghost hunters / shane and ryan, but as the ghouls/ghosts in the places they investigate...well, here >_< this is all /lh btw hehe

➤   akaashi is the ghost that just minds his own business. he stays out of the way of investigations and has no plans to make his presence known. the most he does is accidentally leave a book he’s reading out on the desk which confuses ryan because “am i crazy or wasn’t this book just on the shelf?” no, sweetie, you’re not.

➤   the miya twins are an absolute headache to investigate. atsumu genuinely wants to freak the ghoul boys out, osamu undoes it just to mess with his brother. atsumu does his best to write the creepiest shit on walls and mirrors, but before shane and ryan could even process that they were there, osamu has already wiped it off. the most anyone could get from the twins is just incoherent arguing: “what the fuck, samu? even in the afterlife, you make things more difficult for me.” “then my job here is complete.” 

➤   suga, being the absolute chaotic king he is, loves messing around with the spirit box. and you can bet that he tells all his ghoul friends to say the most random shit too. because yes, they could actually say things that make sense…but where’s the fun in that, you know? ‘hi, i’m a ghost. we’re real.’ is soooo boring compared to ‘apple taters’ or titles of popular songs or vine references.

➤   kageyama, who kinda feels bad for ryan, tries his best to help him out and prove that ghosts are real!!  except he forgot that everything he does will translate as creepy or scary, no matter how pure his attentions are. “hi :)” doesn’t seem so endearing if it’s scrawled on a dusty old wall in red sharpie. a sweetheart nonetheless, please protect.

➤   i don’t know how, but kuroo would be the kind of ghoul that would have an enemies to unlikely allies arc with shane. because bestie kuroo really wants to scare the boys but all he gets is “ah the wind seems strong tonight” and “guess the floors are just really creaky” from shane and it gets on his nerves until they realize they could combine strengths and just creep ryan out. “hey, uh, ghost! would ya mind giving us a lil light?” “you got it buddy.” *light mysteriously turns on* *ryan screams*

➤   tendou’s just noisy. he’s always walking around the house he’s haunting, deliberately making his steps loud and heavy. whenever shane starts singing something, he’ll be humming or singing along with him. *shane, starts singing abba* *tendou, provides backing vocals* *ryan, very stressed out in the other room*
