you were both so confused by what that meant. Later that night - you both couldn't sleep - you told Rafe that if he wanted to explore whatever that was with Topper, you were fine with opening up your relationship as long as you always were in the loop with what was going on. you were secure enough in the relationship you had with Rafe, a part of you couldn't believe your own words but you knew that they were true. Rafe couldn't believe his luck.

Rafe was awake the whole night, thrashed around the bed, at 4am in the morning he got up to get a glass of water. when you woke up again, Rafe wasn’t next to you and his side of the bed was cold. You got up and in the living room, Topper and Rafe were asleep on the pull-out couch, Rafe wrapped up in Topper's arms. You still weren't jealous because it looked so right but it scared you.

Topper and Rafe woke up, super sorry, embarrassed. Rafe wanted to get up but you told him, "No, Rafe, stay, it's fine." and it was. But then Topper lifted the covers and asked you to join and Rafe and you are so taken aback in the best way possible, so you do.

the three of you spent the whole day on that couch. cuddling turned into kissing and kissing turned into something else eventually. This is what you did for the remainder of the week. it took so much to make this work, so much communication, so much research, so much trial and error. but it was so, so worth it!

the three of you eventually moved into a bigger flat, the triple income making it possible to rent a huge apartment in which all of you have their own room, plus a huge master bedroom, two bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen.

Oh hummmmmmm. I'm not sure I super have headcanons, tbh? Like... I sometimes take ideas and build fics and stuff around them, and sometimes I reuse those a lot, but I don't feel super attached to them? Maybe that's what a headcanon is?

Anyways...

For Naruto, I have "all ninjas are bi and poly" from the fic I never stop talking about and "orochimaru, tsunade and jiraiya were a triad before everything went to shit".

For RWBY, I have "Ruby is trans" because like 90% of the RWBY fic I've ever read was trans-Ruby fanfic and it's actually the greatest idea.

For Supergirl, I have... "Supergirl is transfemme" because like... it makes the shows everything so much more interesting! Like, the girl is so Rah Rah Girl Power, which I've personally found to be moderately poison as a trans woman. Like, how does being "Supergirl" make Kara feel? Like, the skirt and lipstick and the Everything Everything of that? Does she feel she needs to do that to not be subsumed into her (male) cousins shadow? Does she like those things? A BROTP I have with said character: kiibo could have cool friendships with a lot of the cast i think!! kaede not being able to resist literally pushing his buttons is extremely funny to me, and so is him and shuichi realizing they’ve both been looking down on each other this whole time. ok. i hate to be put in this position because polo x carla x christian was an OT3 that was really close to my heart but yeah, here goes a long rant: POLO X CARLA X CHRISTIAN IS IN NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM BETTER THAN POLO X CAYETANA X VALERIO. 

First of all, anyone of you who says they’re just recycling or repeating that storyline can fuck right off, let us polyamorous people have more than one throuple in a show. 

Why is Polo x Caye x Valerio better? Simple: because they talk. Because they’re open. Because they’re aware of what they want. 

Polo x Carla x Christian was born out of a shady game/experiment Polo and Carla wanted to try. Polo x Carla x Christian throuple’s whole foundation was a clusterfuck.

Christian was fooled into thinking Carla was into him when really he was being watched without his consent when he had sex with her. Carla thought she was trying to salvage her relationship with her boyfriend and Polo was just trying to act on his attraction to men without having to end things with his girlfriend. Messy. Then when Christian got in on to the picture, he did so for his own, dishonest reasons. 

Let me break it down into the three parts, because that’s the real issue: all three of them did terrible, questionable stuff.

First, the original sinner & real orchestrator: Polo. Yes, this whole thing was Polo’s idea even though Carla had to nudge him towards it at given points. 

In season two we find ourselves with a Polo who’s not questioned about his bisexuality, who explicitly says “Bi? Is that what I am? You know, you may be right. I might be bi” when is labeled as such & then who reveals to Guzmán he was into him at some point in his life. We don’t know for sure how long people have known this about Polo, but they know now. But FIRST, in season one, we have this exchange between Carla and Polo, the first time he’s having doubts about what they’re doing: 

[btw, this is Carla being supportive of her bi bf, just saying. She was encouraging, at one point, but, yk, I’ll get to that]

Now, either this happened sometime before Polo’s bi awakening via Guzman’s incrediboy ass or this right there is Polo outright lying to Carla. Polo was aware that he was attracted to guys & his main goal of having a threesome with his gf & some other dude was to explore that (or he wasn’t but then the whole timeline is weird bc then that means he liked Guzman sometime during S1 events. idk). First strike. 

Then, where else did my dear chaotic bi Polo go wrong? He let himself get pushed & influenced by Guzmán’s nosy ass comments. Polo was ready to help Christian get a modeling job with his mother, to get Christian to like him as a friend, without anything sexual in return

but then Guzman got inside with his head with his “Christian wants to take advantage of you” & then Christian’s whole dismissive attitude towards him & Carla calling him out on being jealous just triggered his Messy Needy Bi brain. So he got Christian to suck his dick over a magazine cover = he took advantage of Christian before he could do it to him. Second strike

And the nail on the coffin was cheating on Carla. Because yes, that was cheating. He lied to her to get alone time with Christian so he could have him to himself. He broke his girlfriend’s trust &, as the principle of their arrangement stated they weren’t supposed to do anything with Christian without the presence of the other: he broke the rules. Third strike. 

This last point of Polo’s faults brings us to Carla’s mistakes:

As I pointed above, Carla did encourage Polo in his attraction towards guys. In the examples of: the scene above, when she told him he liked Christian undressed better, when she moved the boys’ chins to see if they would kiss with a smile on her face, even when she pointed out Polo was jealous she was amused by it. She was on board. In fact, she was actually even pushy about it when you come to think of it, which is not good, bc if Polo hadn’t told her then she just had to wait for him to gather the strength to say it, not push him out. But I digress.

It was only after Polo broke their pact that she turned disapproving & judgemental & did that cursed thing of questioning Polo’s bisexuality by saying “I think you like boys more than girls”.

A lot of people like to think that Carla pulled the strings to get herself this double course meal but as I said, that’s not the case. Polo had the idea, it’s just that Carla had the drive to actually pull it off. That being said, the way she decided to get there was controlling and messy, yes. Most of the times, she cared more about getting keeping the threesome arrangement than the genuine concerns and doubts her boyfriends had. Dick got her careless about her boys feelings.

Then there’s the fact that, yk, she coerced Polo into lying about what he had done (which, now that S3 is out makes me wonder a LOT), which ended up getting messier than it needed. And then she also dragged Christian down.

PS. Also, a lot of people seem to have pointed out that Carla was more into Christian than she was into Polo but I feel like that’s a reach. Polo had been her boyfriend for over four years, so ofc, she was a bit more enthusiastic when she was with Christian. But when it all came down, the one she really loved was Polo. Only Polo. (which is also an issue for a polyam triad, ofc)

Now, on to the icing of the cake: Mr. Christian “I’m not aware I’m a huge ass raging bisexual & Im upset about it” Varela. Yes. I said it. Christian’s bi, I got plenty of proof & no doubts.

As I’ve pointed before: Christian was put into this trio clueless. Used. Lied to. The guy had very valid reasons to go “if you want to spice things up in your relationship, get yourself some other guy”. But since he’s a dumb (bi) boy with a Plan, he accepted.

Nothing ever goes right in triad in which one party just “””accepts””; they’re either into it or they’re not. Forcing polyamory is just as bad as forcing monogamy.

That’s not saying that Christian wouldn’t have gladly been a part of their trio had they gone right at it (just, picture it, Polo helping Christian get that fame & recognition he craves, slowly getting close to him. Carla being supportive & reassuring of her interest in them, equally, bam! They would’ve gotten Christian forever).

However that didn’t happen, so instead, we got a Christian who’s core interest was sexual & social/economic. He wanted to be with Carla for sex & with Polo for money/prestige.

There was potential for Christian to realize he’s not straight. Because no straight man looks like this when being sucked off by a guy:

There was potential for Christian to fall in actual love with Carla, too. Potential for Christian to become more than what his parents thought him to be & to exploit that ambitious side of him in something that would’ve made him truly successful. However, Miguel Herran (Christian’s actor) had scheduling conflicts or didn’t wish to be part of the show anymore so all that potential went to waste. 

Why Polo x Caye x Val are better

Essentially: because they have none of the above.

Polo has left insecure-about-his-bisexuality Polo behind, he’s grown & knows better than to lie & be pushed around now. Cayetana is in no position of power to be controlling or pushy. & Valerio is fully aware of who he is/what he wants with them from the beginning. 

The circumstances have made Polo stop being concerned about what his friends (now former friends) think of him & his love life. In fact, he proudly rejoices in it & tells the people he cares about,  about it (Ander, his moms). Polo’s really only hesitation at first was rooted in the fact that his previous try with Carla & Christian didn’t work out. 

Valerio comes forward with his equal interest in them as soon as he realizes that’s what he wants. (which is after he learns Polo tried to commit suicide) He makes sure to state, verbally, that he’s into both of them: 

& even makes sure that they like him back by asking them. Which they verbally assure Valerio they do. But they’re only saying no because they don’t want to tarnish Valerio’s already controversial reputation, showing that: they care about Valerio at that point already. 

Cayetana, for her part, did positively what Carla wasn’t able to, for one reason or the other: constantly be reassuring and supportive of the triad. She’s the one who made sure the triad kept on by just being open & honest about how good it was for them. (”You’re the piece we were missing” to Valerio & “We’re building something nice here. Something worthwhile” to Polo). 

When Polo&Christian wanted to call quits & break up the arrangement, Carla forced them back in with manipulative tricks (sex or pressure). Meanwhile, when Polo&Valerio got insecure about the triad, Caye lured them back in with honest, sweet words and reassurance.

Ultimately, the reason they fell apart was entirely fixable had they had had more time, but the season was about to be over & Polo’s fate was already set, anyways. 

You can argue Polo x Carla x Christian was hotter or that they felt more organic to you, fine. But they’re not a better trio & they’re definitely not a better polyamship; they had the potential, but the writers didn’t exploit it (& I’m sure that’s because Miguel H got out).

First Time: A Captain America Fanfic

Synopsis:  Prompt: Steve starts dating one of Bucky’s close girl-friends and they both come to Bucky for tips because they are both virgins. Bucky gladly helps them, but first, he tells Steve that he loves him and Steve suggests a triad instead of a one-night thing.

First Time

Bucky couldn’t say how he’d formed a friendship with you.  It was just one of those things that had seemed to always have been the case.  You were friends.  He liked that you weren’t part of his other world.  You weren’t an Avenger.  You weren’t a fighter at all.  Just a normal person, who lived a normal life.  

He knew all your secrets.  Including that one you hated anyone knowing.  You were a virgin.  Most people judged you for it.  Called you a prude or a tease.  Not Bucky though.  He just knew you needed more than that.  You needed an attachment.  To be loved.  To connect with another person in other ways.  Cuddling.  Having them wash your hair.  Cooking together.  He knew when all those things fell into place, you also had a devilishly kinky side that you were aching to explore.  Sometimes you would say things to him that would make him turn the deepest shade of red.

It was all fine, to begin with.  When you and Steve were dating neither of you needed advice.  You just needed time.  You gradually fell in love.  There was a lot of romantic dates involving long walks in the park, hand holding and late night talks about nothing and everything.

Over time it turned into making dinners together, long make-out sessions and dancing together even when there was no music.   Now you were at this new stage.  Sleepovers that actually meant sleep.  Long baths at the end of particular stressful days.  Hands traveling that little bit further south than they used to.

Still no sex yet.  Both you and Steve weren’t sure how next to proceed.  So you each went to your best friend for advice.  It was killing him.

“How will I know if he’s ready?”  You ask.

Bucky pauses thinking about his answer.  "I don’t know.  I only know what it was like for me.  I’ve heard it can hurt for gals.   I think everyone is different though.  I think it might also depend on how into it you are too.“

Bucky laughs.  "No.  Steve loves you.”  Saying that hurt him.  He knows it’s true.  Steve is in love with you and he is jealous.  He wants that kind of love from Steve too.  "Anyway, I don’t think it hurt the other girl who I was lucky enough to allow me to be part of her first time.  She really seemed to enjoy herself.  Either that or she was really good at faking it.“  

You sigh in relief.

When Steve came to see him it was worse.   It felt like his heart was being ripped out.

"What do girls like you to do?”  Steve asks.

Bucky shrugs and sulkily looks out the window.

“Buck, please.  You’re the only one I feel comfortable going to about this.”  Steve pleads.  The other Avengers already look at him like a freak.  Even Sam wouldn’t let him live this down.

Stephen, of course, heard that she had become the CEO of one of the biggest companies of the world and had found none other than Tony Stark for herself and was proud of her. And maybe indulged a little bit in “what if”.

It doesn’t take long for him to see through the arrogant facade and see the real man beneath it and he understands what Pepper has seen in him all those years ago. Tony rather likes the whole package, inside and out.

Stephen realizes that Pepper must have told Tony about him and doesn’t know how to feel about it. When he looks into the different futures he sees timelines where he gets together with Pepper again after Tony’s death at Thanos’ hands; he sees timelines where he and Tony end up after Pepper’s. He sees himself die and Pepper and Tony lead happy lives. A thousand variations of the same theme, over and over again.

He falls in love again with Pepper and realizes that he is very much capable of falling in love with Tony if he’s given a little bit of time to do so.

There is one, just one, timeline where the three of them end up together. But it’s also the most unlikely one, shrouded in uncertainty and the path into that future is so insanely twisted and long that Stephen rejects it out of hand without looking at the details and chooses one where Thanos is defeated with minimal deaths and Pepper and Tony get their happy end.

But Pepper is stubborn and even the few minutes in the park have been enough to let her see that Stephen’s not in a good shape. Mentally or physically. So first she goes to rescue Tony only to find him in the middle of rescuing himself. They then work together to bring all the lost ones back - including a reluctant Stephen who tries to hide himself away after the dust (ha!) has settled.

Pepper is not satisfied with that. She gets the location of the Sanctum from Tony and goes over there to speak to Stephen. She almost wants to cry when she really sees the shaking ruin of Stephen’s beautiful hands and doesn’t leave until he has accepted a dinner invitation. She hugs him and doesn’t want to let him go again.

Pepper’s old feelings for Stephen reawaken. Tony beings to develop feelings for him. They begin to talk if it might be possible to add Stephen into their relationship. Pepper has always known that Stephen is bi and that Tony is exactly his type. Stephen is already so in love with both of them it hurts but much too afraid to even think about the possibilities. He doesn’t want to “steal” one of them form the other and the thought of a triad doesn’t really occur to him.

Polyamory Q and A with my friends

Recently, I asked my friends, most of them monogamous and most of them internet friends I have never met but have known for years, to ask me questions about my experiences with polyamory. I know everyone does it differently, so I wanted to shed some light on the kind of poly that I practice. :)

How do you deal with someone not being with you because they don't have room in their life for a relationship with you? 

This exact thing happened to me last fall. I was dating a guy for 3 weeks, and everything seemed to be going great (the sex, the conversation, everything) until he suddenly got very distant and when I asked him when we could go out again, he said that he realized he didn’t have room in his poly life (he was married and had one girlfriend already) for me, though he wished he did. I was hurt and confused, but he had made his decision and I had to respect that. So I did all I could do, which was nothing! I tried not to dwell on it and focused my affections on the people who did have time in their lives for me. You just gotta say “this is how I feel and it sucks, but this will pass” and move on. 

How do you not get jealous of your partners’ other partners? 

I do! But more specifically, I get jealous of time spent, communication, milestones, and undivided attention. Just feeling jealous because a partner HAS other partners does not happen to me. However, I don’t think being jealous is bad. It’s just a feeling. It’s what you do with that feeling that can negatively affect your relationships.

Was there any jealousy in the beginning?

When Kurt and I had only been married for a two and a half years and decided to officially try polyamory, I don’t remember being jealous. I do remember him feeling lonely because I was having more luck at finding dates than he was, but not jealous.

How do you balance / find time for each partner?

Kurt and I share a Google calendar on our phones, and even though we live together, we still schedule time to spend together. I try to be available during the times he is off work and try to spend an equal amount of time with my boyfriend by communicating far ahead of time about my plans. Calendars are vital for me. 

Do you have to ask your husband to go see your other partners? 

Nope, because we try our best to practice non-hierarchical polyamory, which means we don’t have any control over each others’ choices and we try to put all partners needs and wants on an equal playing field with everyone elses’. We just tell each other ahead of time what our plans are. We do ask each other before having people over to our place though, but that’s just common courtesy. 

If there’s a time when he is not seeing anyone else (and vice versa), do you feel guilty? 

It’s been a while since this has happened, but it doesn’t make me feel guilty. It just makes me encourage him to send messages on dating apps and try to go on dates, or I just spend more time with him.  

Do you have to suppress negative emotions (jealousy/sadness/ anger) when your partners go out with other people?

The only negative feeling I have ever felt when a partner of mine is with another partner is loneliness (or jealousy if I feel I’ve been neglected lately, but that’s rare), and only when I’m home alone (also rare), but I don’t try to suppress that because it’s okay to feel your feelings! 

Does your primary partner have to approve of your other partners? Do you introduce them before you become official?

I know people assume Kurt is my primary partner because we are married, and I get it! But as much as we can, we try to make sure no one we date feels any less important to us than we are to each other. We definitely don’t have to approve of each others’ partners. We can certainly voice concerns out of love, but that’s where it stops. I usually introduce people to him pretty early on, but not as a rule, and we don’t make it a big deal. We don’t need to meet them for it to be official. However, it’s really up to the other person. For instance, I didn’t graduate from “partner” to “girlfriend” with my boyfriend until he had met Kurt, per my boyfriend’s request, and we had been casually dating for 3 months at that point! Most people usually meet him sooner than that when they come over and he just happens to be there.  

Is it hard to find people who are willing to be a secondary partner? 

I would imagine it is! I would never want to be a secondary! That’s why we don’t do it. No judgement to people who do practice hierarchy though. It’s just not our thing. 

Like.. you and Kurt are married and will build your life/family together. But your partner(s) will never have that with you. That has to be hard.

Okay, okay, that is a fair point! And it is hard! When I fall for someone, I imagine the future with them, and I know that not everyone will want to date someone non-monogamously forever. Yes, there are poly families with multiple parents and children and they all live in a big house or a small neighborhood and everything is great, but not everyone wants to do that! I don’t even know if I would do that, since I doubt I’ll ever come out to my parents as bi or polyamorous (trust me, it would be a bad idea), and a situation like that would be hard to explain away. Sure, I can’t legally marry someone else, but plenty of people have commitment ceremonies for their other partners. It just depends on what works for you. 

If you had to either be in a V or triad relationship, which would you prefer and why?

I’ve been in a triad before, and I am now perfectly happy being in a V formation (having multiple partners who are not dating each other) and probably never doing a triad again mostly because of how it feels when two of you break up but not everyone breaks up right away or at all. 

Do you create boundaries or limits in your relationships? If so, what are they? Or, within good open communication, do the relationships pretty much have the freedom to evolve however they evolve? 

The most important rules we have are “be sexually safe” and “no last minute sleepovers.” Other than that, things are allowed to evolve naturally. We just talk to each other. I like to update my partners, once it’s serious, on milestones with other people: first date, first kiss, first time having sex (and we definitely talk to people about their health status before having sex with them for the first time and get tested regularly), when we change our titles, when we say I love you. I like being able to share this stuff! 

Do you experience patterns that stem from monogamous relationships that you find helpful in your poly relationships?

Communication, communication, communication. Honestly, all of the things that make monogamous relationships healthy and happy will translate well to a non-monogamous relationship and vice versa. Kindness, always getting to know each other, active listening, trying new things, being happy for your partner’s happiness, all of it. 

How has NRE impacted your relationship with your husband?

For those who don't know, NRE stands for new relationship energy, that euphoric feeling at the beginning of a new relationship, and it has only affected our relationship negatively, to be honest! But never for very long. It hasn’t damaged our relationship in general, only caused tension a few times. The only time I think about NRE is when it is so intense that it is distracting me from investing as much as I should be into my existing relationships. And it is so easy to let that happen when you are so deliriously happy with someone new that you have no idea that you’re neglecting someone else until they tell you that you are. And then you feel bad that you’ve hurt them. And you talk about it, take a look at your calendar, and adjust your behavior. And then everyone is okay!

I’m especially interested in the early days of their relationship, how they fell in love and decided not to fight their feelings. Obviously if you go that route there was a lot of racism they had to deal with, but I would prefer it not be a focus. I’d also be happy to see something set during their marriage.

Dorothy/Mrs. Hall: I would love to hear about their relationship while they were in the Wrens together. Did they meet in the Wrens or did they know each other beforehand? Anything set in canon or later would be lovely as well. When did they realize their feelings? Who fell first?

I am obsessed with the idea of Siegfried being their beard. Maybe he’s actually happy to not find someone else, so he marries Dorothy. Then Dorothy and Mrs. Hall live like the happy couple they are. To outsiders Dorothy and Siegfried are happily married and Mrs. Hall is the housekeeper. But everyone living in Skeldale House knows that Dorothy and Mrs. Hall are in love.

Dorothy/Mrs. Hall/Siegfried: Not exactly a prompt, but if it’s helpful my ideal dynamic for this ship is the Lesbian-Centric Semi-Nonsexual Trouple. I see them as being a healthy triad where each pair connects in a different way and they just enjoy being around each other. I’d love to see how they get together or some established relationship.

I quite like the idea of Mrs. Hall and Dorothy both feeling caught between their growing feelings for Siegfried and their long-running feelings for each other. Meanwhile Siegfried is realizing that he has feelings for both of them and in the end no one has to choose.

Helen/James: I just want to see these two be a couple without having to deal with the fallout of Helen leaving Hugh at the alter. Maybe Helen breaks up with Hugh sooner and she and James share their first kiss at Anne and Bert’s over the puppies. Or they go on a date sometime after the Christmas special. Something that takes place after they’re married would be lovely as well. Although anything going into Helen’s thoughts as she finds herself falling for James would also be fun.

James/Tristan: I saw the clip where they’re hiding from Siegfried and laughing and my first thought was “They’re going to fall in love aren’t they?” I just really love their best friends dynamic and the way they encourage each other into trouble. But I also love how they support each other. I see the romantic part of their relationship as having a lot of snuggles and kisses. For a prompt it could be fun to see them ending up having to share a bed for some reason.

Maggie/Tristan: I don’t have a specific prompt but I really like the idea of their relationship helping them both to grow as people. I’d love to see more of Tristan interacting with David and Maggie falling for how good her boyfriend is with her little brother. Something where they’ve been together for a while and are finally ready to say “I love you” could be very sweet.

Harriet/Mr. Hooper: Based on reading the Muppet wiki, I got the feeling that David’s Grandma Harriet and Mr. Hooper are quietly dating and I would love to see more of that. In season 11 Mr. Hooper, Mr. Macintosh, and Willy took Harriet to a dance. How did that go? Did they start dating after that?

Mr. Macintosh/Willy: My headcanon is that they’re basically the street’s gay uncles. They’re been together for basically forever and everyone adores them. They’re also Mr. Hooper’s best friends. I’d love to see how they got together when they were younger.

Susan/Gordon: I would dearly love some fic about how they met and fell in love. Or a fic about how they decided that they were ready to be parents and that they wanted to adopt. Maybe something with them geeking out together over science.

Maria/David/Luis: The only logical solution to the Maria/David, Maria/Luis relationships. I actually shipped David/Luis before I shipped Maria/David, so I definitely view this as a full triad.

How do they get together? Are two of them together first and then the third joins them? Or do they become a triad all at once? What do their dates as a triad look like? Do the three of them ever go dancing?

How do they decide to get married? To become parents? Does it matter which of Maria’s husbands is Gabi’s biological father or do they only know for medical history reasons?

Maria/Luis or Maria/David: I don’t have anything specific for these, but I thought I would ask for them anyway.

Susan/Gordon/Bob: Did they know each other before Sesame Street or did they meet there? When did they get together? One thing I really like is the idea of them having gone to college together and getting up to hijinks. I would love to see some of that. How involved is Bob in parenting Miles?

Bob/David/Linda/Luis/Maria/Olivia: The ship of my heart. My personal perspective is that every part of this relationship is romantic except for Bob and Maria. Bob and Maria adore each other but their relationship with each other is platonic.

Do they ever manage to all share a bed comfortably or are there too many of them and someone ends up on the floor? The six of them go out on date and are mistaken for being three couples so they try to see how obvious they can make it that it’s all six of them. Is it ever hard to parent Gabi when there are six parents?

The butch lesbian flag too! Also I think it’s weird and hilarious and perfectly fitting that no one can agree what the Queer flag is, there’s like, twenty different versions and that’s honestly just so queer and great. XD 

14. are you openly out? Unfortunately, you can still get fucking FIRED in this day and age for being queer, which is cruel and ridiculous and makes me so furious. So I am not out at work. I am out to my friends and out to my family. (And to my partners, obviously, when I have them.) Truthfully, you’re never 100% out, no one walks around screaming their sexuality constantly so every passerby is AWARE, you can’t inform the entire planet at once...you continually come out throughout your life based on the situation in which you find yourself. I do resent that I can’t be out at work...but I think I would resent unemployment even more :/ Bitch gotta eat. 

15. are you comfortable with yourself? LORD no LOL. But I’m comfortable with my queerness.

It’s okay to be closeted, you aren’t lying to anybody and you aren’t a bad person, some things are private. When it’s time, you’ll know. Don’t let anybody rush you, either to pick a label or to come out. Also? If you wanna say you’re [label] then go for it, there’s no registration fee, if you feel like that you are like that. And you can always change your mind later. People who say differently are called “gatekeepers” and are to be avoided. The gay experience, like all of life, is messy and complex and way too weird and wonderful to be overly simplified. You are you. Just listen to your heart, listen to your body, and trust what it’s telling you.

Okay, I don’t know the names of most tropes so I’m just gonna describe them and hope you guys know what I’m talking about (also turns out its way easier to think of things that annoy me than things I like).

Favourites - 

When the tough, emotionally closed-off hero is being bandaged up and winces as the first sign of weakness that will eventually allow them to open up.

Love triangles - only non-traditional ones though! Ones where it ends in a polyamorous triad, or its a bi girl who likes a girl and a guy, or the two guys get bored and run off together, stuff like that.

Least favourites - 

Bury your gays. Eww. Just eww.

When the dude sacrifices himself even though his love interest is begging him not to (let the woman decides what she wants for herself mate, I sure as fuck wouldn’t want someone I love to die for me). 

The concept that black = evil in fantasy (started out as just an afraid of the dark thing, now its super racist and it needs to stop).

The idea that when a woman rejects a dude he just needs to keep pursuing her cause that’s super romantic when its actually just really creepy (cough, Ted Mosby, cough). 

The trope in horror about who has to die first whether it's the black guy (racist) or the girl who just had sex (slut shaming).

An author I’d love to work with is Christine Lynn Herman because I feel like we have a lot of similar interests in storytelling and because I can’t wait for The Devouring Grey to come out.

The writing friend I’d co-write with is @edwina-featherwinkle because we’ve known each other since forever and she gets me on every level. 

11. What are you planning to work on next?

For now, I’m just going to stay focused on These Summer Sons because I still have a lot of work to do. It’s probably going to be a duology, so I guess full steam ahead with book two after?

12. Which story of yours do you like best? why?
