“Hey you Ferrari girl !!” You heard Gasly calling you out as he was entering the Ferrari garage , giving you a head pat as you went in to give Kika a big hug welcoming her to the Ferrari pads ~ you might’ve been the youngest being born in 02 but they always treated you well and protected from the horrendous things on media days , enemies on tracks but family off track is a way you can describe it .
they’re always there especially Charles and Carlos and Pierre , you were most close to them you saw them as your brothers in cars. Your brothers were in NHL they had no idea what it was like being in Motorsport especially one that’s more dominated by men …. They never really cared about your passion growing up so you weren’t close to them at all . Quinn was friends with your older brother Bryan and Luke was your best friend in middle school but ever since you moved out to Miami for the tracks and traveling you got to barely speak to him , seeing him through his social media was a way . Not to mention you dated Jack from 8th grade up to 11th grade then again from 2020-2021 as you both reconnected… you broke up due to him not actually caring for you and schedules as you were never off season for summer like him . But to see him become the Center and Captain for his team suprised you despite his poor attitude and lack of understanding people .
— the qualification was postponed for a bit due to the heavy rain, they were preparing to change tires for the wet tires . Changing gears as well , as you were about to walk away to your car, you saw Jack standing up on the paddock looking down at your number 43 - his half number …. you carried that numbers as it was both good luck to you guys - getting situated in the car wasn’t hard like the first few times during winter test when the car was so bad , it was unexplainable painful to ride , Jack running through your mind still , he never was at your games like you were - you had show off today for once .
1.2.3 red lights off and go !!!
you were right behind max , you had no issues with max but with Hamilton trying to overtake you was pushing you to the point , you pass overtook max 💀- it just qualification you didn’t budge because you probably wouldn’t win against max after that 😗-
“Congratulations lil red !!” Riccardo patting up your back , smiling at you making it less terrifying to face Max right now , you might be not be racing him this year, but you were happy for him and his mental state he seemed much better . Talking a bit to Daniel you were being called back to the pads for interviews along with Charles strutting behind you - you saw Lance with Z and the hockey boys , it all made sense ofc they were friends with Lance … Lance mf stroll , rolling your eyes as Max greets you with a ball coming straight at you . Definitely a way to seek revenge max …. bet , so you chased him into the pads ..
few hours later …..
- you were back at the hotel with Lewis , yes Lewis , you heard me right . We both had an on and off relationship for the past two years … it’s complicated especially with our age gap but end of the day we both know we have each other and understandingly feel calm in the presence of each other’s arms . Tommorow is the big day , not wanting to do anything tonight more , you both ended up falling asleep early , with the bogus of being woken up at 6 am the next morning. ———-

Comments: thoughts, types, how-tos, and etiquette (part 1 of 4)
I did a thing again! It's overly long. Who could've thought?
Commenting, or reviewing, is one of the backbones of fanfiction. It’s an integral part of any writing community. Writers and readers can grow and have fun helping each other.
This epic is going to be different from the Tips and Tricks one. There won’t be just bullet points on how to do X. I have thoughts on the matter, and I’m going to discuss them. I can’t possibly cover every topic ever, it’s a broad subject, so I might’ve missed your question.
While the technical info is precise, suggestions come from my experience. You don’t have to agree with me, everything is up for debate. Just keep it civil.
This is better read sequentially, but you can skip to any section. They are as numbered:
1) The basics
2) Thoughts on comment culture
3) Types of comments
4) Writing cohesive and coherent comments
5) Etiquette
6) Technical questions
7) Short-answer questions
8) Long-answer questions
Part 1: Sections 1 and 2 (you are here).
Part 2: Sections 3 and 4.
Part 3: Sections 5 and 6.
Part 4: Sections 7 and 8.
PDF version here, containing the whole thing. It has a table of contents and cute formatting.
♥ 1: The basics ♥
1.1 What is a comment anyway?
Feedback are “messages sent to the creators of fanworks in response to their works” (from Fanlore). I’m going to refer to it as “comments” like on Archive Of Our Own and Wattpad. They’re “reviews” on Fanfiction.net. There might be other names in other sites.
Commenting is usually a verbal expression of thoughts/feelings. It takes practice to be good at them. I don’t mean there are “rules”, but it can be easier, almost effortless. Like in regular writing, there are patterns to commenting, and guidelines left by people who were here before you are. You don’t have to start from square one.
Note that “comment” is a neutral word. It doesn’t mean “praise”, “criticism”, “hate”, or “invitation to chat”. It’s a message, and what you make of that message is up to you.
1.2 How to leave/reply to a comment on…
This subsection covers the Big Three™ fic sites: Archive Of Our Own, Fanfiction.net, and Wattpad. There might be perks I don’t know on other sites, like Quotev or RoyalRoad.
1.2.1 Archive Of Our Own (AO3)
You do not need an account to comment unless the fic is restricted to registered users or guest comments are disabled. The author can delete comments on their fic. If the author has turned off all comments, you cannot comment. If comment moderation is on, your comment will show up if they approve it.
The comment box appears below, near the end of the fic/chapter.
Tumblr media
Type the comment and press “Comment”.
1.2.2 Fanfiction.net (FFN)
You do not need an account to comment on FFN. The author cannot:
lock the fic only for registered users;
disable guest comments;
moderate comments before they appear;
turn off comments entirely.
They cannot delete comments from registered users, but can delete guest comments.
The comment box appears below, near the end of the fic/chapter.
Tumblr media
Type the comment and press “Post Review as [user/guest]”.
If you check the boxes on the bottom left, you’ll mark the story/author as favorite, or follow the story/author, when you comment. That only works if you’re logged in.
1.2.3 Wattpad
You need a verified account to comment on Wattpad. You cannot leave comments without an account, or without verifying the email address linked to your account. The author can delete comments on their fic.
There are two types of comments on Wattpad: regular comments, displayed at the end of a story part (like at the end of a chapter), and inline comments, displayed beside the text of the story (paragraph by paragraph).
The author cannot:
lock the fic only for registered users;
moderate comments before they appear;
turn off comments entirely, but they can turn off inline comments.
This is the speech bubble for inline comments:
Tumblr media
Click on it to open the comment box. It appears as below. Forgive me for the UI not in English, I have tried.
Tumblr media
The regular comments box (below) is near the end of the fic/chapter.
Tumblr media
Type the comment in the desired box (inline/regular, doesn’t matter) and press “Post”.
1.3 Other ways to leave and receive comments
Comment sections are not the only way to leave/receive comments. Examples are:
emailing if the author has left a contact email;
sending an ask on Tumblr, if they have linked their account;
reblogging the fic on Tumblr, if you add your comment to the post/tags;
private messaging, if the host site has them as FFN does;
private messaging part 2, if the author has linked their social media.
♥ 2: Thoughts on comment culture ♥
2.1 Insights on the alleged “death of comment culture”
Subsection 2.1 will apparently go off-topic for a while, and contains a few ironic paragraphs. Proceed with caution.
Oh, the good old days. A distant past when readers would always R&R (read and review). Finished a chapter? A comment ensued, “can’t wait for the next one”. Finished a fic? A detailed, considerate analysis of plot points. People fearlessly shared their thoughts instead of clicking a “like” button. Likes can be so “empty”. Readers recommended fic to friends and group members. There were even rec lists! Awesome times to be a ficwriter, right?
Was there such a thing as “the golden years of feedback”, or are we just nostalgic?
From Fanlore:
Since the beginning of fannish time, fans have complained about the lack of feedback for their fiction and art. Letters of Comment in print zines in the 1970s and 80s, posts on USENET in the 1990s and early 2000s, online journal comments later—all are filled with complaints about a universal lack of feedback. One common refrain: “People used to be better about leaving feedback than they are now.” (source)
Even so, there is a shared perception among ficwriters from the 1990s and 2000s: people used to comment a lot more. And I do agree. I feel like feedback used to be more frequent. My writing was nowhere near good in 2010 or so, but my fics from that time had 10+ comments, even genfic one-shots in tiny fandoms. I posted exclusively on the local fic archive, in Portuguese. Wild guess? Zero percent of them spoke English as a first language. There were Brazilians like me, a handful of Portuguese people, and the occasional Angolan.
More than a decade has passed. I’m a much better writer. I translated and tweaked the same genfic one-shot to English, from the same tiny fandom, for 8 kudos on AO3 and zero comments. Having a favorite/kudos button, imitating the “like” button trend on social media, leaving people too comfortable, or even lazy. They don’t need to show love with words. It’s too much trouble. Little by little, they’ll quit commenting forever.
Where have I read a similar thing before?
Plato criticized this spread of written language as an impediment to wisdom. He said that writing is only a semblance of truth and that people will seem to know something when in fact they will know nothing. He complained that writing things down would eliminate the need for memory. Socrates, too, had decried the written word, and had said that one can ask questions of or argue with a speaker, but the written word may not be understood and may be interpreted falsely—a precursor of today's complaints about the lack of face-to-face communication. (source)
If ficwriters were never satisfied with the feedback they got, and “X technology will make the naive populace dumber” is as old as time, who’s to blame for the death of comment culture? Did it even exist one day? Did it really die?
It all boils down to context. Let’s consider a few things:
Excessive hours online are messing with our attention span, and reading requires concentration. Also, in 2001 (20+ years ago!), more than half of employed US people, 25 and over, already used computers at work. Not everyone has the brainpower and/or the attention span to stare at a screen all day and read fics later on another screen.
Most socialization now occurs on social media, which have algorithms behind them. In layman’s terms, a social media algorithm is a set of instructions for a website. It tells the website to prioritize and push 1) sponsored content (that someone paid to promote) and 2) high-engagement content (creating more user data, to show users accurate ads hoping they’ll buy stuff). In summary, whatever makes corporations profit. In algorithm-based websites and apps, “likes” will boost a post for more users; the algorithm sees it as engagement-worthy. FFN and AO3, on the other hand, have no algorithm. Some people don’t know about it and might think a simple favorite/kudos will “boost” the fic to more people.
Check these graphs for a percentage of US households (1984 to 2010) with a computer. Those are not numbers for households with an internet connection, but at least a few of them had it. Computers were pricey. Phones didn’t do much more than call, texting, and the Snake mini-game. Thing is, the internet was a smaller, more tight-knit community, even in the dawn of online fandom. Also, fandom people online were not only fans of pieces of media: there was an overlap with computer nerds, both ostracized groups. They searched for friends online with common interests and found them. It’s a lot easier to speak your mind to someone closer than an anonymous ficwriter you’ll never chat with.
Have you ever heard of sanitizing the internet? In case you didn’t, you probably should have. Long story short, corporations work for profit, and some of it comes from advertisers. Advertisers have requirements. A frequent one is “we do not want to associate with sites hosting Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content”. To sign a contract, social media corporations ban NSFW content and promise to delete it on sight. The problem is: lots of users are posting loads of things every second. Humans couldn’t possibly check all posts. Algorithms do the job via image recognition and such. If an image/video looks like it breaks the rules, it’ll be taken down. Those algorithms also scan keywords indicating animosity or hate speech. Social media users, especially the ones who couldn’t know the internet before social media, are used to the internet being “safer” now. They relaxed about it. When they stumble upon NSFW, unpleasant things, or just things they dislike or disagree with, they’re not used to seeing it. Their reaction is, oftentimes, disproportional.
What does the above topic have to do with the rest? Let’s do the math. First, you add lots and lots of users to the internet, to the point it’s not a small, intimate community anymore. Second, you “protect” those people from encountering unsettling content so easily, making them prone to lash out at the first sight of it. Third, you teach them all it takes to show appreciation, and make more people view “quality content” on their feed, is clicking a “like” button. The result: both readers and authors have never seen each other online, may or may not be sensitive to poorly worded sentences, may or may not react disproportionately to those sentences, and you have a “like” button right there. As a reader, clicking the button to show your love sounds a lot more fail-proof, and the fic goes commentless.
The fic I mentioned earlier? I used to be mildly relevant as a beta reader and blog writer on the local fic archive. That’s probably where my exposure came from. Being a recognizable face matters. The fandom? Nightwish. They were already big with metal fans and became a mainstream hit in 2004 with the single Nemo. It defied the looming decline of metal as a “genre of the youth, played on the radio” in the following years. I posted that fic in 2012 (already eight years after Nemo), and even if Nightwish was still decently popular, I posted the translated fic on AO3 in 2020 (sixteen years after Nemo), after said decline happened. It just wasn’t a thing anymore, like all trends and fads die out.
What do I conclude from all that? Things aren’t always what they seem to be, and there is more to it than readers being “lazy”. Note that those nuances do not apply to all cases of not getting comments on fics. They just help to paint the picture.
On a last note, I do think comment culture was greater in the 2000s, and probably was in the 1990s as well. People recognized each other a lot more in fandom and were all for how easy it was to comment on the internet. Mailing letters to fanzines, for example, was a bit of a hassle. So, in my eyes, there was a period of 10–20 years in which they commented more often.
Fighting against the 2020s state of the internet is kind of a losing game, but you can change how you interact with fandom, and influence people around you.
2.2 Why should you even comment on fics?
Readers don’t owe comments to anyone. The same goes for authors: they don’t owe you content. Their fics are not written for you. They are shared with you. And it’s fine! It should be a stress-free relationship where no one owes anyone anything, but add the human factor, and it all gets complicated. You’re not forced to comment, ever, and shouldn’t feel forced either, but it’s not my point.
Here are a few reasons to encourage readers to leave comments more often, even if you’re shy, feel like you have nothing to say, or don’t know how to say what you think:
It feels more personal than getting kudos. Someone took their time to write a message (of whatever length). Day = better!
It creates a sense of community. Writing can be a terribly lonely hobby. Most people don’t have beta readers or even friends in the same fandom. I myself was a lonely writer in a few fandoms for a while. While it made me find happiness in the act of creation, I love when someone gives me insights I didn’t have. It’s expanding on the microcosm I created. It likely wouldn’t happen if a reader disliked my fic, so I see it as praise.
An author might pick up an abandoned work again. Not saying it’s guaranteed, but I’ve heard of it before. People put fics on hiatus for various reasons, and one of them is struggling with low confidence. Ficwriters are people, they feel insecure at times.
It hones your critical thinking, feedback, and argumentation skills. If you write medium or long comments with in-depth analysis and impressions, it’s a zero cents writing exercise. Plus, much more fun than schoolwork.
You might become friends with the author, or with other readers. It depends on all parties agreeing to it, and there might be a shade of “never meet your heroes” to this. However, as ficwriters are people, some are nice folks.
Authors who ask for constructive criticism will thank you forever. While the current fandom culture doesn’t favor concrit a lot, some people are still open and eager for it. Yes, you can give concrit even if you don’t write fic yourself. You need knowledge, structure, and politeness, nothing more, nothing else.
Sharing your love and appreciation is enough of a reason. It doesn’t have to be perfect. There are no standards, metrics, or school grades.
2.3 What if you don’t want to leave a comment at the time?
Sometimes, you’ve downloaded the fic for your e-reader. Others, it’s four in the morning and all you want to do after a 100k binge read is sleep. Possibly, the author looks too intimidating, and you have no idea how they’ll respond. Perhaps, something else? It’s normal, we’ve all been there. Here are a few alternatives:
Favorite/kudos the fic. Return later if you want to comment, it’ll be in your history.
Create a reading list somewhere, write a memo to comment on another time. Google Keep is good for that. Some people even make spreadsheets for fics they’ve read.
Bookmark it with a note. Write “leave a comment later”, return if you want.
Type the comment somewhere else, save it, send later. It can be anywhere from an email to yourself to a note on your phone, your friend’s inbox, your notebook… anything.
2.4 What if you never, ever want to comment on fics?
It was said before, and I’ll say it again: readers don’t owe writers comments. You don’t have to apologize or justify yourself. If you want to show your love in other ways, they exist.
Favorite/kudos the fic.
Bookmark it, with or without notes. Make a bookmark into a recommendation by checking a box, if you want.
Create a rec list. You can post rec lists on social media, for example. You don’t even have to explain why you liked it. That was how we did it before algorithms took over.
Share it with friends/acquaintances. Maybe you have a shared taste?
Be open to changing your mind in the future. Don’t be strict on the “I never leave comments” stance. There are many arguments favoring comments and very few against them.

SEASON. TWO. OF. MONSTER. TOWN.
Anyway, you asked, I delivered. We’re starting out the season with an unconventional (though one of my favorites) point of view, right where we left off.
Chapters will be interspersed, as I’m currently also writing a big fic on Ao3 about a summer camp for superpowers, which you can find here.
If you haven’t read season 1 of Monster Town, feel free to click these links:
WB: 1.2.3
Season 1: P1.P2.P3.P4.P5.P6.P7.P8
Let’s get into it!
——————
Claudia Henderson stress-cooked.
Being the one 1950s house making lesson her Ma taught her that she deemed legitimately useful, she turned it into a coping mechanism.
It helped that she was naturally good at it, even from the start. With a list of the Machiavelli Pack recipes and her southern Italian taste buds, cooking became chemistry she could eat.
(And of course, she was great at maths and sciences)
What was nice is that something good almost always came out of it, as if some sort of god aligned the planets so her stress coping lead to good karma. For example:
The night before her first SAT in junior year, she made a mostaccoli so dense it forced her to pass out mid-cram. (She wouldn’t’ve gotten any sleep otherwise)
She panicked so badly the night before junior prom she made a 7-layer deep dish casserole that completely distracted Pa from the skimpiness of her dress
When she forgot to get Christmas gifts for everyone she baked cookies: those cookies were then hid and scavenged for around the house for weeks
When a 12 year old almost killed her and her friends through their minds, she was able to soothe everyone with homemade pastina (a childhood favorite)
On her 18th birthday (+Pack line ceremony) most of the delicious sandwiches were made by her notion of using her sleepless insomniac night to her advantage.
She baked the best lasagna she’d ever made before opening her dream college letter: she wanted to open it over a favorite meal
About 30 minutes ago, she’d received a call from Eddie Munson, saying they apparently had Jason Carver tied up at the Byers house and needed somewhere safe to keep him.
Besides the fact that they apparently had come in contact with Jason Carver and had to tie him up—to keep themselves safe, Claudia knew the kids better than that—Joy had been over at her house when she’d gotten the call. They were discussing a death vision she got on the plane from Alaska, one about Jason Carver himself.
Claudia was smart, and so was Joy. They both knew that no matter the circumstance, the moment a banshee got a death vision, their fate was sealed within 24 hours. Otherwise, she would’ve gotten visions about Will, Max, or any of the kids in the various situations the’d been put through these past years—Claudia couldn’t really keep track at this point.
Either way, she knew Joy’s dream had to do with Jason being torn up in the Upside Down (or whatever the kids called Henry’s Realm). If that were the case, how was he still walking, talking, and breathing? It wasn’t physically possible for that to happen.
That’s when she’d gotten the call.
Joy had run off back to her house to make sure everyone was okay, while Eddie and Argyle drove Jason over to the Henderson house. As she waited, Claudia started stress-cooking.
She started with cookies: easy and delicious to many palates. She took some pre-prepped cookie dough from the fridge and rolled it into balls before putting a tray of 12 into the oven to bake. She calmed slightly from the warm scent of sugar melting.
Claudia jumped when the doorbell rang seconds after. Quickly, she moved to the front room and opened the door to a panicked Eddie and a grinning Argyle, both holding a bound, subdued Jason Carver between them.
Claudia raised an eyebrow.
"Did you sedate him?" She put her hands on her hips, and Eddie and Argyle made awkward eye contact.
"Maybe?" Eddie offered, sheepishly shrugging. Claudia laughed and yanked the ropes binding Jason to himself.
"Good. It’ll be easier to tie him to my chairs that way." When Jason got close to her, she winced at the smell. He smelled like burning, molting fish flesh.
It was awful.
Talk about bad people.
“Come on in,” she looked around, hopeful her neighbors weren’t looking through windows at the moment. “It’ll be easier to talk inside,”
“So, boys, what was the issue this time?” Eddie and Argyle made eye contact again.
“He tried to kill Lucas?” Argyle offered.
“He didn’t try to kill Lucas!” Eddie tried to cover, “He just tried to sirenspeak him!”
“John said he did that while pinning Lucas up against the wall, by the neck,”
“Wait, shit, seriously?”
“Boys!” She held up her hands in surrender “doesn’t matter. Obviously it was bad enough he needed to be tied up. Now, we need to make sure he’s secure,”
She had Eddie and Argyle help her tie the body to one of her good sturdy kitchen chairs, so she’d be safe when he woke up.
"Thank you again Mrs. Hen—" Eddie tried to apologize, but she stopped him mid sentence.
"Claudia, dear."
"Thanks, Claudia," Eddie grinned, and started to make his way back to the door.
"Bye! Thanks Mrs. Dustin’s mom!" Argyle grinned and waved, before shutting the door behind them.
Claudia let out a sigh, before looking at the unconscious body at her dining table.
The cookies beeped, breaking her out of her thoughts.
The smell of warm cookies actually evened out and made the dying fish smell worse simultaneously, Claudia noted in disgust. Something seriously had to be wrong with that child for him to smell that bad.
Jason started to wake while she was putting in her second batch. At first, he tried to undo his bondage, then bounce the chair around, and he also tried biting into the rope, but it was all no use.
“Those are extra strength for werewolves, hon. There is no use in trying to escape,” she said while still placing dough balls.
“Who…who are you?”
It occurred to Claudia they had never formerly met.
“Mrs. Henderson,” She replied formally. She’d be cordial, of course, but he wasn’t one of Dustin’s friends.
“Dustin’s Mother…” Jason said slyly. Claudia noted some sort of vocal undertone to his speech, as if it was just slightly warped in some way. His scent took a bit of a sour turn, too.
Claudia turned to the stove, poured herself a large pot of water, and set it to boil. She took out her bag of dry pastina pasta and set it aside for later.
“Is that a problem?”
“You knew my father,” Claudia snorted.
James Carver? Of course she knew him. Not only was James one of the most popular people in her high school years, but he was also best friends with her arch nemesis, Chris Harrington.
“Of course I did, he went to my high school. He was very popular, you know,” was what she told everyone unaware of her deep hatred for the two.
“And you weren’t,” Jason said bitterly. Claudia turned to stir the hot water again, in hopes of it boiling faster. “How would you like to be?”
Some sort of damp scent filled the air, moldy and mildly sour.
“Join me, Claudia Machiavelli. Tell me what you know.”
Quickly, Claudia caught on to what the scent was, and she smirked.
“I’m great, thanks, Jason. I’d prefer to keep my secrets, you know?”
She heard a growl from the corner—strange behavior for a siren—as she poured the pasta into the pot.
Small stars cooked fast.
“You’ve been tainted by the other one, haven’t you?” Jason spit, and Claudia chuckled.
“He could have…tainted me, that’s true, but it wouldn’t really matter, now would it?” Claudia strained the pasta, before moving to sit at the table. Jason’s face was hard to read, but he smelled like a mix of interest and fear. Also, something else familiar that Claudia couldn’t quite place.
Claudia actually did know Steve imprinted (or as Jason wanted to say, “tainted”) on her, and a while ago at that. She had a master’s in child and adolescent development, and due to attending a monster-inclusive school, was able to conduct her thesis on how different monsters develop and interact as young. Even if Steve didn’t explicitly express signs of imprinting, Claudia could see the nuance.
The most obvious sign (at least to her) was how easy it became for him to call her ‘Ma.’ Usually, sirens imprinted first on their parents. Because Steve had Chris Harrington for a father, it wasn’t completely unexpected for Steve to have a lack of parental figures in his life.
The second thing Claudia noticed about Steve was how her touch was very calming, almost grounding to him. Her touch meant he physically knew where she was, and that (because she was with him) she was safe.
Besides, as a species, sirens weren’t typically touchy-touchy, so anytime Steve made little gestures—hands on shoulders, noogies, high-fives, even the uncommon hug—it was a clear sign of claim and imprint.
He was also vulnerable with her—not necessarily a trait of imprinting, but it still mattered—which meant there was a level of trust there above many other people.
“Why—why would it not matter?” Jason asked, attempting to be confident even though it wasn’t working.
“You understand I’m a werewolf, correct?” Claudia asked, and Jason nodded. “Well, my father is currently our pack alpha. When he turns 70, he will enter retirement, and I—his oldest child—will take his place. Because of this, at 18, I was cursed to never be magically convinced, so all actions as a pack alpha could be my own. Do you know what that means, Jason?”
Jason shook his head, and Claudia smirked as she stood up to dish out some pastina (she’d forgotten the egg, but it’d have to do).
“It means, Jason, that no matter what has made an imprint on me, no one, not even them, can use sirenspeak on me. You will fail every. single. time,” She grinned at him. “Now would you like some food? You look like you haven’t eaten in awhile,”
Claudia sat down in front of him with his plate of pasta and a spoon. She fed him a mouthful, which hilariously he didn’t reject in the slightest. She was expecting him to be stubborn and her to have to go through a few locomotives, but he immediately dropped his jaw to receive food.
Before she could feed him a second mouthful, she received a phone call from across the room.
«Claudia?» came Jim Hopper’s voice through the receiver.
"Hello? Jim? Is everything okay?"
«Yes. Just letting you know me and officer Callahan are on our way to pick up the Carver kid»
“Wonderful, thank you so much!”
She hung up the phone and breathed a sigh of relief.
“Why doesn’t the pastina have egg in it?” Came Jason’s voice from across the room. The distortion in it was slightly stronger now, somehow.
Wait, Jason hadn’t ever had pastina before, right? Because he shouldn’t know its name, nor the fact that it was always supposed to have scrambled egg.
“What?” She asked for clarification.
“Pastina, you always made it with scrambled eggs,” Jason frowned.
Claudia had never made pastina for Jason. Even if it was at some sort of school potluck, it was never clear she brought it, and Claudia knew for certain his parents wouldn’t have told him even if it was.
Claudia caught a whiff of that eerily familiar scent once more and all the pieces clicked:
Jason didn’t know pastina or more specifically, her pastina.
Jason’s obsession with Steve and finding out her secrets related to him and the party.
Most damningly, the fact that he knew her full maiden name even when she only introduced herself under her married one.
In front of her may have been the shell of Jason Carver, and he may have been calling some of the shots, but this was not Jason Carver.
This was Henry Creel.
————
👀
S2P2!
Anyway, if you caught it, Claudia was involved in the original Vecna-ing with the Creel family. How so? You shall find out!
Also for reference, Claudia’s the principal of Hawkins Elementary. (She’s also heavily neurodivergent but that’s a topic for later)
(If you’re wondering what pastina is, it’s a dish made with star pasta, scrambled egg, and Parmesan cheese. It’s SUPER nostalgiac for many Italian Americans)

@drchandras-sanctuary-for-ais asked:
1.2.3 for the character development meme (for any muse you feel like)
1. How do they move and carry themselves? Pace, rhythm, gestures, energy?
Alma carries himself very gracefully, but his body language is also very reserved and submissive. He has a very non-threatening demeanor about him most of the time.
Arda has a very elegant way of moving as well, but hers is more carefree, less self conscious. She has a bubbly yet serene sort of energy about her that is hard to explain unless you've been around her.
Errol has a very confident, relaxed way of carrying himself most of the time. He naturally exudes charisma and every movement he makes is assertive without necessarily being aggressive. However, he does have his aggressive moments too.
2. How much physical space do they use, active and at rest?
Alma takes up as little space as he can, despite his 6ft height. He always tries to make himself seem smaller than he is so he is out of the way and not bothering anyone.
Arda takes up a little more space, at least for her size. Despite being very small, she makes herself comfortable and doesn't try to make herself small or big, she just takes up as much space as she needs to.
Errol carefully controls how much space he takes up depending on what the situation needs and how he can bend it in his favor. If he needs to be more aggressive, or if he wants attention, he'll make himself very big with grand sweeping gestures and getting on higher ground. If he wants to make someone feel safe or use a gentler approach with someone, he'll make himself smaller, often coming down to the other person's level, or lower than them to gain trust and seem non-threatening.
3. How do they position themselves in a group? Do they like to be the center of attention, or do they hang back at the edges of a crowd?
Alma very much does not like being the center of attention and will usually do his best to be scarce, hanging around the corners of rooms or along the wall instead of in the center of a room.
Arda does not care either way if she is the center of attention or focusing her own attention on someone else. She likes both large crowds and smaller, more intimate groups. She isn't self conscious so doesn't think much about where other people's attention is.
Errol loves to be the center of attention. He is often found in groups of people, entertaining them, drawing them in, and capturing their conversation and adoration.

Floor Saw Market Predicted to Witness Steady Growth by 2032
The global floor saw market is slated to expand exponentially through 2032 owing to the rising developments in the building & construction industry in the Asia Pacific region.
Moreover, expanding infrastructure spending in Latin America because of the continent's rising economic growth would complement the market scenario. Latin America is also aiming to modernize its infrastructure for construction with countries like Brazil and Mexico investing in commercial and infrastructure projects. As the area is characterized by a combination of sizable inaccessible regions and congestion issues, particularly in bigger cities, Brazil seeks to improve the efficiency of its transportation system through the construction of roadway infrastructure.

The floor saw market has been divided in terms of power, propulsion technology, and region.
Based on power, the above 3HP segment is anticipated to grow steadily by the end of 2032. One distinguishing feature of floor saws with more than 30 HP is its durability. 30 HP floor saws are incredibly durable when compared to other floor saws since they have a circular steel disk and can break up to 1200mm of concrete with sections located on the outer edge.
Tumblr media
Higher horsepower floor saws with diamond cutting blades are fused under extreme heat and pressure which increases the shelf life and durability of the product without compromising on the efficacy. These benefits are further expected to foster segmental growth.
With respect to propulsion technology, the petrol segment is poised to grow at more than 5% CAGR from 2023 to 2032. Petrol-powered floor saws can generally be used for cutting of reinforced concrete and asphalt and can be integrated with water supply tanks for effective dust suppression. It is also used for indoor work such as digging below the level to install pipes as well as utility lines or to remove parts of slabs for new surfaces. Other uses include projects involving highways, roofs, bridges, and water channels. Petrol-powered floor saws need routine upkeep. They are not recommended for use in places with inadequate ventilation since they generate strong emissions.

From the regional perspective, the Middle East & Africa floor saw market is set to amass more than $23 million in revenue by 2032. The Middle East is another location that will become a sustainable market for floor saws in the next years. The need for roads and buildings in this area will increase floor saw demand. Construction activity in the region is likely to increase in the upcoming years due to multiple existing projects, creating a big potential for the floor saw sector to grow its income.

Hawkins March 3rd 1986
“Eddie, I’ve got a surprise for you.” She says, smiling hiding whether it is behind her back.
“What is it princess?” He says, looking up from his bowl of cereal. She smiles, leaning down and kissing him on the nose.
“Who do you love more me or your guitar?” She asks, and he scoffs. “Obviously, my guitar.” He says, jokingly and she lets out a gasps.
“Well, looks like you aren’t getting your surprise.” She says.
“I was joking princess.” He says, and she giggles planting a kiss on his lips.
“Alright…1.2.3!” She shouts, revealing the cassette tape. Of Master of Puppets by Metallica.
“Oh my god, babe!” He shouts, standing up from the table and pulling her into a kiss.
“You’re the most amazing girlfriend ever.” He says, and she smiles placing her hands on his chest.
“Now, I’ll only let you keep it if. You promise you’ll study for English.” She says, and he nods snatching the cassette tape outta her hands and putting it into the cassette player in his room.
His eyes drifted towards his nightstand, the opened drawer reveling a velvet box. He immediately shut the drawer hearing (Y/n) walk into his room.
(Present Day)
Eddie held the velvet box in his hands staring at it. His lip quivering at what could’ve been. He was going to propose after graduation. After they walked off stage with each other and ran, he was going to get down on one knee and ask her to be his.
Tears brimmed his eyes. The image of her lifeless body in his arms still haunts him. He would wake up in a sweat heaving, it was supposed to be him not her.
She was supposed to live a life without him. Get married. Start a family and forget about him. But that never happened. And now he’s alone his princess no longer by his side. He felt empty hallow; a part of him died that night along with her that night.
It was supposed to be their year. He still couldn’t process she was gone. Hr could still hear her voice, laughter, smile, and singing.
‘Eddie! Stop that tickles.’
‘Eddie Munson, you absolute perv!’
This town didn’t deserve her sacrifice. This town didn’t deserve anything she did, how cruel this town treated her, how students are high school bullied her for not having any parents. For being an orphan. For being found by the “Freak” Munson.
The most heartbreaking part about it, the exact same spot he found her that night in ‘79. Is the same place she died in the Upside Down. The exact same spot.
The girl he helped nurse back to health, that moved in with him and his uncle. That brought even more happier moments in their lives was now gone. How was he going to his uncle? He couldn’t even bring himself to imagine his reaction to him telling him that she’s gone.
“Why’d you do that?” He cried. Looking down at his hands. He could still feel her blood on him. “We were supposed to graduate, get married, start a family.” He says as his voice cracks.
“Grow old together.” He cried, opening the velvet box revealing a skull shaped wedding ring. He knew she would’ve loved it. “You were going to become my, Queen.” He says, planting a kiss on the ring .
“I need you.” He cried, clenching his fists. “I need you.” He whispered. He stood up wiping away his tears, holding a box of clothes and some other items.
Some filled with (Y/n)’s clothes. That he was going to give to Dustin to donate. He knew that she would want him to help others first. He kept a few of her shirts those ones that were her favorite and gave away the less sentimental ones, some of them were way to big for her and he’d wear them.
Just to still feel her presence missing the way her arms wrapped around him, as they slept. Searching through the clothes he gasped, falling to his knees finding the old Judas Priest shirt. He gave her the first night they met, tears brimming his eyes.
As the memories flooded back.
Eddie handed her the Judas Priest shirt, after she changed into it in the bathroom. He couldn’t help but blush seeing how big the shirt was on her, “Judas P-Priest?” She says, and he smiles sitting beside her on his bed.
“Yea, it’s a heavy metal band.” He says, and she tilts her head. “Heavy metal?” She asks curiously, and he nods grabbing a cassette tape with the name, Judas Priest.
“Heavy Metal, is a kind of music.” He explains, and she looks at him.
“It’s really awesome but some say it’s satanic.” He says, shaking his head sitting back down beside her. That night they listened to Judas Priest, the smile on her face as she listened to it. How different it was to the music she listened to back in the lab.
“Metal!” Eddie exclaims.
“Metal!” She copies.
He looks at her and smiles and she smiles back, the two intertwining their fingers. At their developing friendship and in the future relationship.
Eddie brought the shirt to his chest. As he sobbed. Eddie didn’t just lose the love of his life. He lost his best friend. His first best friend. Was gone the love of his life was gone, and he was never going to see her again.
“It should’ve been me.” He cried, sobbing into the shirt. It wasn’t fair it wasn’t at all. She had so much to live for, she had to graduate. Since she was behind on her learning. They both were supposed to graduate.
“How am I supposed to live without you?” He cried. “I can’t do this. I need you.” He cried, looking up from her shirt. The crack in the ceiling of the trailer made his nauseous just through that gate, and outside would be the dead body of his lover.
He tried going back he tried, hoping maybe just maybe. She’d be there fine. But the others stopped him despite his frantic pleas. He couldn’t go back. But her sacrifice was for nothing, Max still technically died but is in a coma. Vecna won. Hawkins is in shambles.
She sacrificed herself cause she was sick of running. Running from her past, of who she was. Wanting to stand up for the ones she loves. It wasn’t worth it.
It wasn’t worth her sacrifice
(Y/n) gasped, opening her eyes as she looked around. Lifting up her shirt seeing her skin has been corrupted and it was a light purplish red. Her left arm had sharp claws at the end, and her eyes. A milky white.
She stumbled standing to her feet, “They left me to die,” she says, clenching her claw hand. Standing to her feet as she looked around, “He left me.” She said, looking down seeing her upside down version of the guitar lying on the ground.
She stared blankly at it, her clawed hands snapping the chords. She looked down at the broken glass on the ground, seeing that half her body was human and the other half was corrupted.
The sounds of a grandfather clocked echoed throughout her mind, she didn’t know how she lived or why for sure. But one thing she did know was that, her death was apart of Vecna’s plan all along.

The Fandom Drama Meter
SECTION 1: WARNINGS AND CODES
Article 1: Introduction to Warnings and Codes
1.1.1) There are now Warnings and Codes.
1.1.2) A warning is a precaution that the drama meter of a certain fandom may be raised, which may happen in a certain number of hours or days.
1.1.3) A code is the actual drama meter.
Article 2: Warnings and Codes
1.2.1) Code Blue: Barely any drama is happening (minor dramas happening once every 14 days or more). If it's happening, it barely made a dent on the person/s, and can be solved within a few hours depending on the timezone. Less than 1 in a hundred thousand people are affected.
1.2.2) Green Warning: Code Green may be implemented over the next 2-3 days if not resolved.
1.2.2.1) Code Green: Drama is happening, but it's minor and won't hurt anyone in the long run. The frequency of minor dramas is once every 7-14 days. Low protection needed. 1 in 20,000 - 100,000 people are affected.
1.2.3) Yellow Warning: Code Yellow may be implemented over the next 24-36 hours if not resolved.
1.2.3.1) Code Yellow: This is where drama might affect someone. Drama will be known to some people. Moderate protection needed. Minor dramas happening once every 3-7 days. 1 in 5,000 - 20,000 people are affected.
1.2.4) Orange Warning: Code Orange may be implemented over the next 12-24 hours  if not resolved.
1,2.4.1) Code Orange: Drama is a concern over this fandom. Will affect someone in one form or another. High protection needed. Minor dramas happening once every 36-72 hours. Major dramas happen once every 14-21 days. 1 in 2,000 - 5,000 people are affected.
1,2.5) Red Warning: Code Red may be implemented over the next 12-24 hours if not resolved.
1.2.5.1) Code Red: Drama is huge concern over this fandom. People outside fandom are noticing these things. Will affect someone in a really bad way. Very high and cautious protection needed. Minor dramas happen every 12-36 hours. Major dramas happen every 5-15 days. 1 in 400 - 2,000 people are affected.
1.2.6) Pink Warning: Code Pink may be implemented over the next 6-12 hours if not resolved.
1.2.6.1) Code Pink: Drama so intense, it turned into a battlefield. People way outside fandom will set the dramas as an example on why you shouldn't go to that fandom. Shits so bad it may affect real life Will affect someone so bad words can't describe how painful it is. Minor dramas happening once every 4-12 hours. Major ones happening once every 1-5 days. 1 in 50 - 400 people are affected.
1.2.7) White Warning: Code White may be implemented over the next 6-12 hours if not resolved.
1.2.7.1) Code White: Drama is like World War 3. Most people haven't touched grass in months. Will affect real life things such as structures, buildings, etc. Will affect a person it affects their real life personal life too. It is best to avoid this fandom at all costs. Major and minor dramas happening left, right and center. Almost all people in the fandom are affected.
Article 3: Examples of warnings from fandoms I know (As of 5/25/2023):
White - the general Internet,  the general Anime fandom, the general Disney fandom
Pink -  Fandoms of Mihoyo’s Games (Genshin, Honkai, etc.)
Red - Minecraft YouTubers, Cookie Run
Orange - Steven Universe
Yellow - Object Show Community, Spy X Family
Green - Amphibia, She-Ra, The Owl House
Blue - Jelles Marble Runs (Marble League, Marbula One), Inazuma Eleven (Original, GO), generally any obscure fandom
SECTION 2: SUBCATEGORIES OF FANDOMS
Article 1: Introduction to Subcategories
2.1.1) Since some fandoms are big, there are subcategories by social media, by ship and by character fandom.
Article 2: Examples of Subcategories
2.2.1) Social Media: a fandom may have a Code Yellow in the Reddit part of their fandom, while a Code Orange is on the Twitter part of their fandom.
2.2.2) Ships: Character A x Character B may have a Code Green while Character B x Character C may have a Code Yellow
SECTION 3: SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS THING
3.1) The reason for this is because I can lol. Also because it is to guide people to rate the fandoms they are in based on the drama.
SECTION 4: LIMITATIONS
4.1) Fandoms get drama based on the number of people in the fandom. So this meter may be biased based on the number of people in a certain fandom.
4.2) People rating their fandoms based on drama may be misleading due to people having different experiences within the fandom/s.
SECTION 5: UPDATE LOG
4/10/2022: Decreased the people affected by a factor of 10
10/20/2022: Added warnings
10/30/2022: Added subcategories of fandoms, added examples of fandoms, reduced warning time for Pink and White Warnings, added Significances and Limitations, organized the entire page to Sections and Articles
5/25/2023: Updated the Examples of Fandoms (Section 1, Article 3)

Brickclub 1.2.3 ‘The heroism of passive obedience’
I... oof, it’s all too iconic, and I’m choking a bit on how to talk about a scene that’s just this Big.
I’m fascinated by Valjean’s voice here. He sounds like Hugo’s misérables in a way that he won’t later: he sounds like Éponine, he sounds like Champmathieu. He rambles, he blurts things out because he’s bursting to say them, he’s not tracking how it’s odd to explain to a priest what a bishop is--all the niceties and decorum of bourgeois speech aren’t something he’s learned yet.
And he’s just so honest. He’s actually incredibly sweet. I mentioned a couple of chapters ago how he felt humiliation stronger than he felt hunger or fatigue, and he says as much here: that he was hungry when he came in, but because of the bishop’s respect, he can’t feel it. He wants respect and belonging so much, and he wants them on genuine terms. He seems absolutely terrified of being welcomed into a house by someone who doesn’t know what he is.
..And he never gets over that, does he? Years from now, when Cosette tries to welcome him into her home, he throws himself out because no one else will. Is it fear of being discovered? Is it an unwillingness to be taken for what he’s not? He’ll tell Marius about the weight of the lie on his conscience and the relief of relinquishing it. It feels like this far less sophisticated Valjean wants exactly the same thing.
There’s so much warmth in this character, before anything has changed about him, before we know anything about him besides what he’s blurted out. Valjean at his apparent moral worst is more desperate for belonging and honest respect than he is for food, though he’s starving.
And he never, ever realizes this.
I don’t think he ever understands that the bishop didn’t superimpose goodness onto a canvas of terrible evil. In future he’ll think of himself as someone who needs to atone every minute of every day in order to keep from backsliding, but the bishop only changed how he views his role in the world and the sufferings of others. Valjean’s instincts at his worst and his instincts at his best aren’t that different. Valjean’s soul, bought and unbought, is the same soul.
What does it mean that pre-transformation Valjean is this sweet? Valjean isn’t a hardened criminal, he’s someone vulnerable and on the cusp of becoming something he’s never been before--because of the choices the prison system left to him, it was very likely going to become hardened criminal, but he actually never got that far.
When similar generosity is offered to more hardened criminals (Montparnasse, Thenardier) it doesn’t take.
There’s an idea here that the goodness in people is there all along, if only society would stop crushing it out of them. But STILL:
This purports to be a book about radical change, so what does it mean that Valjean didn’t change as radically as he thinks he did?

LM 1.2.2, LM 1.2.3
Honestly, not much to say about these four chapters, or maybe I'm just distracted, gosh who can say why! So, some short writeups:
1.2.2
-La prudence conseillée à la sagesse (" Prudence Counsels Wisdom" or a variant ); once again, Practicality and Sense are not the Winning Team in this novel.  I feel like I sort of absorbed that the first time or two through, but the sheer extent to which Hugo's just Not A Fan of the practical is really leaping out at me this time.
(...and there have been people who try to claim this as a Realistic novel? with Hugo leaping out to slam the reader in the face with Romanticist ethos like this? Wild. Wacky.)
-- Listen I know Duty is a Big Concept in this book but all  the talk about Myriel's treatise here is just making me think of the Pirates of  Penzance.  Which is a heck of  a crossover concept, but def. not the Mood for this chapter.
- Myriel's awareness that his sister is probably waiting for him for dinner is more instantly endearing to me than all his descriptions so far? I think it's that a lot of that is more impressive, but this is such a sweet, daily kind of thing, it humanizes him a lot , when he can sometimes feel like a parable.
-..dangit I ALWAYS wonder what exactly keeps the door closed. Does the wind never blow it open? dogs or other animals don’t stray in? I know Myriel doesn’t have to worry about raccoons but still
 1.2.3
-I always really appreciate the way Valjean's frustration and despair evolve over the course of these chapters.  In his  first chapter, he was mostly trying to be quiet, hoping to slip into normal life unnoticed, to just exist quietly; that if he said and did nothing upsetting, he might get by. By the time he was talking to Mme. de R, he was ready to lie to be left alone, and to take money instead of insisting on his own financial sufficiency.  And now, when he's been given a little bit of hope again--and it really is a desperate hope, he's about to spend a night in brutal cold and probably half  starving-- he's just saying everything directly, all at once, trying to get the worst over with, inviting the exile he's almost sure is coming.
- But it strikes me here that he doesn't  tell Myriel his whole story at all. He starts to read from his yellow passport: "  Jean Valjean, a liberated convict, a native of-- that part doesn't concern you"  (FMA translation).   He breaks off right as he reached the part that might humanize him, that might elaborate his life story or reveal him as anything besides a convict. He presents the most prejudicing facts about himself as his whole identity.
..I'm sure this won't be part of  a pattern, or anything. It's definitely just for clarity and brevity's sake here, and not reflective of his self-image having been massively shifted by his prison time in a way that can only hurt him *cries about it*
-Important age cue that JVJ is 46 at this point!
-Big demerits to FMA for dropping a mention of the Wreck of the Medusa! (" Monsieur to a convict is like a glass of water to one of the shipwrecked of the Medusa" , Hapgood)  Besides being a very famous shipwreck of the time,  the Raft of the Medusa was of course a major painting in the French Romantic art movement.  It's a more subtle hat tip to a fellow Romantic than, say, namedropping a roomful of your friend's names all over a home's intro, * but definitely keeping up the tradition XD  (Fun Fact I learned on researching this little detail, Eugene Delacroix modeled for one of the figures on the Raft!  Also when he saw the finished painting it scared him so much he ran away! Romantics.)
- Myriel's  insistence on setting out the silver is so complex here!  I totally buy that it is, under most circumstances, exactly the harmless and even charming self-indulgence the narrative calls it. Most people, after all, know he's the Bishop for the region, and expect him to be if anything having far more luxury.  But in this very  particular circumstance , I can see how it would come across as a very Weird Flex (as I'm sure The Kids no longer say)?  Especially given..
-Valjean's description of the bishop who visited the prisons in Toulon.  This is one of the most moving passages to me-- the description of the sermon far away, incomprehensible,   a show of the bishop glittering and gilded before a genuinely captive audience.   Of course that didn't mean anything to Valjean-- but he still remembers it, for its strangeness, and the fact that it must have stood out as a break in the routine , and be one of the few things about prison he can safely mention to this priest, are striking.
* Shoutout to Dumas and the Count of Monte Cristo heyyyy
