Geography:

Solistal is based on the UK islands physical geography*. It is very much the coldest nation, having snow almost all year round except for the 3 months often jokingly referred to as their 'summers'. Despite this, storms are infrequent and the weather is generally clear or slightly cloudy. Storms are constantly being prepared for, both snowstorms and magical storms, as the ones that do appear and particularly harsh in Solistal. Besides those, earthquakes have been recorded in the nation too.

*but only when I feel like it lol

Architecture:

Most of Solistal's territory is the northern mountain range that stretches from the east to west coasts. Adventurers struggle to survive in the winter on the other side of the mountains. Maybe, these harsh conditions are why there's an impossible amount of fossils found here compared to the other nations. These mountains are also the only place in Klenith that natural clusters of 'seals' can be mined for the magical properties. The seals are said to be the result of a magical blast that sent many forms of mega-fauna to go extinct, connecting to the fossils found here. Another piece of this theory is the 'everburning flame' kept watch near the capital city, Domongrad. Nobody has a reason for why it continues to burn despite the snow and ice surrounding it, but many suggest magic, specifically the magical blast that took out mega fauna. As there is no concrete way to find out, it is still being discussed by scholars and many myths have stemmed from these theories. From the outside, the planning of Solistal towns appear to be random, but is entirely dependent on what each towns considers necessary. If built on flatter ground and the need for stronger buildings is higher, that town puts it's most traveled buildings on the outside. Whereas, a different town will be secure in their mountain-side so will focus on their magic and research, therefore their magical stores and casters' homes would be placed further into the mountain walls. What's needed is most central, and what's not is pushed out. Many towns and cities are built into the side of the mountains, pushing their necessary buildings into the caves to be the most defensible. The styles, including materials used, follow Russian architecture. Although... squashed, because dwarves don't need as much room.

Trade/Commerce:

Solistal primarily exports the ore/minerals that are found in the mountains, the magical seals only found here, and have large stores of meat due to mega fauna hunting. They could be self-sufficient, however it would lower the citizens general happiness and lifestyles. As they have such large holdings over the ores and seals, trading is a constant request from the other nations. Whilst the continent wide trade is currency based, within the Solistal borders it is often information based. Even when currency is required, the price will often be lowered for a good book or two. Their largest import is dyes from Birkina, requiring ink for the libraries, and their lowest being finer/thinner cloths.

"I poisoned him recently." The clink of glassware punctuates the matter-of-fact statement, the gentle sloshing of reagents, the process of insidious creation. Remaking the poisons spent on petty, jealous, revenge. "Against all his years of training, every lesson his Brothers and Sisters have burned into him, his feet strayed from the path I set him on for a moment too long."

Footsteps remain silent as the god walks from one place to the other in a laboratory of his making and only for his private use, in the darkest and unreachable depths of Duskfathom. "I do not mind one toying with the insects in their webs, but there is a point when one plays too long and the strands begin to strain: a problem I had to personally rectify."

There is more to the story but Blackfingers refuses to elaborate. That he speaks as much as he does is enough for the god of secrets is not wont to give all that he knows and feels to just anyone. "I enjoyed it most thoroughly; watching them writhe, to see him struggle against his own agony to save face but in front of who? His paramour or perhaps myself." Blackfingers knows that answer already and there is no chance to follow such line of questioning regardless; Norgorber works upon his own time.

"Since then his apologies have been much more thorough. starved of my attention as I made him; reminding him of the silence and desolation he came from. When it was only him and the spiders that lived in dusty corners." There's a cold pleasantness to the voice, practiced but not quite hitting the mark of sociability. It's a calculated measure. Glassware moves, solutions slosh and spill just droplets over the lips. "It has given him renewed appreciation for all that I have handed him, all I have done for him. His feet have not strayed from his path since, not with a reminder of all that is on the line. I do not expect perfect obedience, but I do not tolerate deliberate failures."

A gloved hand picks up the terrible creation, odorless but potent with a bitter flavor to serve as the one and only warning. A liquid meant to be a threat, a promise, debilitating but far from lethal. That of which spiked a cup of tea once, that just barely delivered the most loved of the faithful to the Boneyard. The faceless god observes it for a moment before storing it properly in its appropriate container; a threat for later that may never need come again.

"I expect nothing of him for he is mortal and so he is fallible. He has given unto me his flesh, his blood, his mind, and his soul. Thusly I have consumed every part of him down to the incorporeal bone." But there is always the chance that he may stray again, severely, abandon his faith and turn to another or be turned against him. Realities of which he has planned for even if they may never come to pass. Blackfingers again sets to his work, never ending, dark, and dreary. "But soon, very soon, he will step into the part of which I have primed him for. Trained him for. This life of luxury and nobility, allegiances and treachery, all of this for the moment the crown falls from the head. Should he play it well, should he truly appease me beyond the bounds of what his mortal body offers me, what he offers me of others, then I will see that he is rewarded with the desire that has permeated his soul since he set foot in my temple."

Wednesday, May 9: Blackfinger, “All the Leaves are Brown”

For better and worse, Eric Wagner can’t help but sound like himself.  The man’s voice is so distinctly his, that even if the band he’s with is doing its own thing, the end result still sounds like some version of Trouble.  And so it was with Blackfinger, who tried a more thoughtful approach, but “All the Leaves are Brown” still felt like an outtake from Trouble’s Def American years.  That said, early ‘90s Trouble was pretty awesome, so the tune worked as a nice throwback to some of Wagner’s best work.  Rico Bianchi and Douglas Hakes riffed like the doom merchants of yore, Ben Smith and Larry Piatz were a rumbling and tumbling rhythm section, and Wagner’s anguished howl remained undeniable. “All the Leaves are Brown” proved how timeless this sound was and still is, and even if it recalled the work of a more legendary band, it was still great to hear Wagner in his element.

For month I've had issues with my BMW, in low rpm range the engine stutters and spits, no power and sounds like 3cyl cars. In high rpm, no issue at all. Is it the muffler? Probably, so I put back on the stock. But wasn't it. Could it be the air mass meter? Unlikely, the car idles smooth. Lambda, possible, but not spending 30 bucks on a new one. Distributer cap? Yeah that look Garbo, replaced it but that too wasn't it. Hmm... Because I was bored and still wasn't sure about the spark plugs I checked each and fixed the distance of the electrodes. Eventually one was too close and I used a Phillips screw driver, with which I've slipped and pierced my left thumb twice and bent the nail up, Hummel Arsch Donnerwetter, that hurt and bled... But! I found a faulty spark plug wire. Weak yellow sparks, instead of bright blue ones. Replaced the wire - lo and behold! The car runs smooth, no stutters, power in low rpm, all four cylinder doing their duty. I could have spent a lot of cash on all kinds of parts, but it was just a faulty spark plug wire, a thing you can grab from every junk yard for little money. Next time your ride runs bad, check plugs.

still thinking about this. im about to pin it to mirabelle's carrd profile. what if you were a guy who was just personable enough and not the evilest enough guy in the room that everyone else forgot you're supposed to be the representation of the downfall of humanity through greed and lusting for violence and bloodshed to fulfill an agenda that no one else knows about and fears.

(mirbl voice) oh i love this little fox man he bites my finger and then forgets that followers daily rituals used to include whispering my teachings into crowds, stalking anyone who overheard them and killing them and by doing so it would please me which resulted in receiving my blessings. i'm glad he was very surprised by the way i approve of my followers violently flaying people to hang their skin up to dry into leather, it was so cute i think i might feel charmed enough to leave him a pretty little coin under his pillow tonight.

and then vimara walked up to blackfingers with enough bravado to ask if they were going to have a problem existing in the same place and mirabelle was doubly charmed. vimara doesnt know it but now he's mirabelle's new favorite clown. dance for him his furry little court jester, he likes your silly little dances.
