In dem Wort Wertschätzung stecken die Begriffe „Wert“ und „Schatz“ drin, die wiederum Kostbarkeit ausdrücken. Über einen Schatz freuen wir uns, behandeln ihn gut, wissen ihn wertzuschätzen, insbesondere, weil er einen gewissen Wert mitbringt. Vielleicht nennen wir unseren Partner Schatz, weil auch er einen Wert für uns hat, weil wir ihm einen besonderen Wert zukommen lassen, weil wir ihn lieben. Vielleicht sagen wir auch zu unserem Kind oder der besten Freundin „Du bist (m)ein Schatz!“, verbinden damit Dankbarkeit und positive Emotionen. 

Doch den Großteil der Zeit verbringen viele Menschen auf der Arbeit. Demnach ist Wertschätzung auch dort ein wichtiger Aspekt. Wir brauchen Bestätigung, wollen uns wohlfühlen, ja, auch anerkannt werden. Ich möchte an dieser Stelle keine Studien anführen, die belegen, dass Wertschätzung die Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit fördert oder den Unternehmenserfolg steigern kann, doch verdeutlichen, dass regelmäßige Wertschätzung etwas mit den einzelnen Menschen macht und dabei zugleich die Regelmäßigkeit betonen. Denn es geht nicht nur um ein einmaliges Lob oder ein beiläufiges „Das war super!“, sondern um das Interesse an dem Menschen, den Respekt ihm gegenüber und die damit verbundene Dankbarkeit. Tagein tagaus. Es geht nicht darum, dass eine Person nur eine Stelle belegt, ja gar problemlos ersetzbar ist, sondern um den Wert jeder einzelnen Person, die zum Unternehmen beiträgt. 

Doch was genau ist Wertschätzung? An erster Stelle magst du eventuell an einen finanziellen Bonus oder Lob denken. Doch Wertschätzung ist viel mehr als das. Es bedeutet Gespräche auf Augenhöhe, Interesse an dem Einzelnen, das Erkundigen nach dem Wohlbefinden. Es geht um das Ernstnehmen, Respekt und Freundlichkeit. Wertschätzung kann bedeuten ich beziehe dich in Entscheidungen mit ein, ich gebe dir Verantwortung an die Hand, ich biete dir Unterstützung und bin dir ein Ansprechpartner. Ich vertraue dir. Wertschätzung kann Transparenz bedeuten, ein gutes Arbeitsklima oder flexible Arbeitszeiten. Wertschätzung kann auch Mitarbeiterförderung heißen. 

Doch neben unseren Mitmenschen stehst auch du selbst im Fokus. Denn auch du, ja genau DU, solltest dir etwas Wert sein. Vielleicht hast du schon einmal in jungen Jahren den Satz „Du solltest dir etwas Wert sein.“ gehört, wenn wir uns das erste Mal verliebt haben, den ersten Freund oder die erste Freundin mit nach Hause gebracht haben. Meine Mutter äußerte dies immer wieder in Bezug darauf, dass man einem Mann nicht blind auf die Knie fällt und versuchte mir beizubringen, dass ein wahrerer Gentleman respekt- und liebevoll sein sollte. Dass (um es mit den Worten meiner Mutter auszudrucken) er sich um eine Frau immer wieder aufs Neue bemühen muss (ich möchte an dieser Stelle ergänzen, dass das natürlich auf Gegenseitigkeit beruhen sollte und gleichwohl Männer und Frauen betrifft). Ich habe das früher nie wirklich verstanden, was sie mir damit sagen wollte. Heute weiß ich es und möchte es an dich weitergeben: Jeder hat einen Wert und jeder sollte ihn kennen. Du bist ein Schatz! Du bist besonders! Es gibt keine zweite Person, die so ist wie du! Niemand hat denselben Fingerabdruck wie du, niemand dieselbe Genetik, niemand sieht genauso aus wie du. Jetzt wirst du vielleicht einbringen (denn uns Menschen fällt das leider manchmal schwer uns in Selbstliebe zu begeben), dass es eine gewisse Ähnlichkeit bei Zwillingen geben kann, aber es ist letztendlich auch nur das: eine Ähnlichkeit. Denn niemand ist genauso wie du ! Und das ist auch gut so. Schätze dich wert. Sei zufrieden mit dir selbst. Lobe dich! Gestehe dir Dinge ein, die du gut gemacht hast. Schau zurück, was du schon alles erreicht hast. Guck darauf, was du jeden Tag tust. Wenn da auch mal Fehler bei sind, verzeihe sie dir und denk daran, dass Fehler zum Wachsen da sind. Verkaufe dich niemals unter Wert. Tu nichts, was du nicht wirklich möchtest. Liebe deinen Körper, deinen Charakter. Liebe dich selbst und schätze alles an dir! Alles!

@arandomnerdsrp358 my Cassie. A wonderful person through and through and I enjoy the threads and random asks we come up with. We have a great Scott/Cassie going here.

@og-ant-man Pym Mun. Their Hank and my Scott got off on the wrong foot at the start what with Hank grounding Scott from the suit, but over time, they worked it out and developed a good relationship. And Pym Mun is awesome in general.

@thegrandharveyspecter Grand Mun. I never expected Scott to make friends with characters from Suits yet here we are. Grand Mun is a great writer and really has Harvey’s character down pat. I love it.

@indoraptorgirlwind Kit Mun. Like this person is fun in general. All across the board, keeping Scott in his toes and it is a pleasure seeing them in our inbox.

@guardian-rocket Rocket Mun! This dude is awesome. Like seriously. Excellent writing, incredible grasp of the character, and just an awesome imagination. And props for the best tumblr website ever.

Train your mind to not only become familiar with kind treatment, genuine support, and respect but learn how to react to it as something you already know you deserve and not something you’re lucky to have experienced.
