I guess everyone had the same clothes but Jes was in kilt in SO MANY PLACES like the weather? Wasn't he cold? What if he had to go to Fjerda as well? ALL IN KILT? Jesper Fahey, we love you.

- WESPER truly one of the best this season, because they were so safe while everything else was well.. scary or terrifying or heartbreaking or triggering or else. Darkling's grisha army? Scary. Rollins basically becoming the ruler of Hellgate? Terrifying. So many of my beloved people dying or almost dying? And then there's WESPER just being Wesper and my queer heart loved that. I've waited for so long to see them on screen. And as i think every other book reader i was.. SURPRISED no SHOCKED because i knew Wylan won't be 16 but somehow in my brain i didn't think adult wesper will be really well adult wesper. So i had to pause MANY TIMES bc wait they did what.. wait they kissed?.. wait they kissed again?.. after i saw them in bed together waking up and Kaz being Kaz i think i stopped pausing BECAUSE this is WESPER. and i can see how so many of you friends dont know how to feel with crooked kingdom parts in this season or Kanej getting closer or Wesper being this close already or the way Wesper met and all i can is that.. we want the crows yes? We want Kaz's past? Well then these characters are who we know-they just GET MORE AND MORE CLOSE every time they can, they are together so they grow closer. Both Kanej and Wesper. Because if they didn't-they wouldnt really be our kanej and wesper.. also truly Kaz's trauma and past haunts him and you really think he can somehow NOT decide to get revenge on Pekka right away? Brick by Brick, no matter the cost? We have the crows and they have each other and they feel things and there's no way they couldn't. That being said quickly abt Wesper.. i guess personally i need more teasing and the banter and the flirting and the slowburn just all that book wesper had before they got THERE where in so many ways show Wesper already is. They met they got to know each other went through some horrible adventures together discovered they like one another and then decided to move together after like weeks?months? of knowing each other? That's book wesper. But NO i dont think show Wesper is that different the core of Wesper is there(and for all upset people the 'Do the Shu not kiss before noon?' can still happen because even if Jes will know Wylan better he could so easily get overwhelmed by the world and do stupid things you know?-I'm not sure if this is a joke or not but yup) Because i had DAYS to think about it and this is exactly how more adult Wesper could act. How Kaz would act around them. I understand some of you may be not so happy with the beginning since there was no "You can't kiss me from down there, Wylan" before Jes understood Wy is an epic demolitions man and no "No. Not just girls" scene before they even kissed (so grateful Jack and Kit did that for us in that interview and SO GRATEFUL that Kit said Jes is bi-because there're still people out there who don't acknowledge that and it hurts. But that interview means THE WORLD to me.) But yes, so many book quotes that now won't work. For both Wesper and Kanej i believe. EVERYONE it's a tv show. They can make so much work in some impossible way still. And some just won't work and that's okay(?) because no matter if it's a fight between malinas or darklinas or sab and soc we are ALL grateful for this show and this cast and WE WILL BE STREAMING NON-STOP for the first 28 days at least so netflix would see we NEED more of this world on our screens. So, last thing about Wesper, maybe they can pull them apart and then together again? Since there's so much stuff Jes doesn't know about Wylan(also is Jesper the only one who knows W can't read or Kaz noticed?/also how long ago Wylan was *forced* to leave his house and for how long Kaz knows him? Does he knows KNOWS him, tho?) There's also Jesper's gambling addiction and his past and his dad and him fighting more and more with Kaz and it's not like he will just accept being a grisha and boom done. It will take time to learn to feel about it differently. So yes, i am hoping for even more deep wesper talks in the future and time alone on their own when they grow and learn and truly understand that they need each other.

-you have Jack playing the piano and you don't have him also SING as Wylan? are you SERIOUS?

- The change in Malina's ending(not sure how i feel about that truly) how they aren't 'dead' to the world and not together together, leaving everything behind like 'ok,we're out now it's YOUR turn bye. We retire to be happy and at peace and in love' bc it was SO malina of them AND also they were both kinda reborn like phoenixes-getting a second life, second chance. And i loved the idea of it but now.. there's so many possibilities and i have absolutely no doubt they will reunite since they are each other's home and endgame but yeah just not sure how i feel about the change in the ending. Nina not Twins? Ok. Alina using Merzost just by saying PLEASE i guess that's ok, too. But was it necessary? After all Mal is our grishaverse very own Jesus figure-he just came back faster..without merzost but the price she paid is her light, correct? Since that cut was pure shadow? So she goes to Shu Han to return the blade, obviously doesn't turn evil. She reunites with Mal and before they both have some freedom and just a break a moment for themselves and then they can return and help king Nik or decide not to? I loved for Mal to do something on his own so quickly after. At least he escaped this whole mess. But twins go back to N and Inej takes a break or just returnd fully to the crows bc JURDA PAREM??

-WESPER 1st meeting, like i NEED it okay? I just waited for that flashback so much. I NEED it. That's all. Even if it's dark and messy and quick and whatever i just ALWAYS need more wesper content. It's a rule for me. My yt most searched for YEARS is "Jesper and Wylan" for a reason! *they are just THE BEST* also wait THE NIGHT WE MET song was Wesper song after all or not?

-as a HUGE malina fan i don't care about the lack of white hair or no tattoo we all so love or even not THAT MUCH about how different Baghra's death scene was BUT GenyaDavid DavidGenya .. she wasn't even happy and safe FOR A MOMENT there was war and shadow monsters and the Fold..and they did not get married-like i have read ROW only once bc as much as i loved return of my 2 fav grishaverse couples MALINA and WESPER, and Kaz(?) I just.. i'm still not over it. That certain death. So i dont remember the details but.. i want a funeral, there should be one. If you go THERE go there fully so i could sob even more. But yes, the ruby, the plan of the ring-it showed like.. those compliments-the list. It showed how David always thought about Genya,how hard he was trying for her. And the moment he protected her? The line 'i can't feel his heartbeat' is like 'i can't find David' in another universe my heart is so broken for G and i don't think i will ever be able to rewatch s2 and not sob.

So YEAH, CONGRATS S2-you delivered 2 deaths of grishaverse that hurt me the most(out of 3) only that I still did NOT recover from THAT one. So it hurts. D and Nik will never become friends in the show now never create and invent together-

WHICH IS WHY I LOVED WESPER SO MUCH. my joy this season among all the crying.

Fav episodes-2x06,07,08 (YES i love 2x01-how come it is barely first ep of s2? And yes 2x02 WESPER fighting scene, plus 2x04 KAZ and WESPER)

And yes s2 was so much greater than s1. I don't know where we go from here and if THAT will happen(SixOfCrows here comes trouble trouble..) but for now i'm just so grateful for being HERE.

For seeing Jes and Nina my bi duo just sitting there and watching unhinged Kaz. For Wylan who can admire butterflies and then feed them to his friends if that's what's needed. For Malina just being young and feeling the pressure. For seeing our Fjerdan in Hellgate. For Wylan playing flute and piano. For Inej and Jesper talking about Kaz. For all Genyalina hugs. For crows on THE cemetery. For Baghra's stories. For Wylan asking why NMNF. For another living Saint. For adult Wesper. For all the tiniest book scenes there-when N realized V is an idiot and they can all die, when Mal is being chased for being a deserter, and when V tried proposing to Alina. And "i love it when you quote me" and Zoya checking N out and Kaz telling her "your prince" bc Brekker is always the matchmaker. Genya and Kaz scenes this season. Tolya and Jes becoming besties. Zoya being "already a queen" for the scene when Inej cuts all the shadow monsters like a machine and Nina just slowly wakes up to see The Fold gone. For Kaz telling THOSE THREE about a new job.

Thoughts/wonderings on Dragon Age: The Missing #2, under a cut due to spoilers for The Missing (not just #2) and for the recent leaks:

Overall I think issue 2 was more interesting and more exciting than issue 1. I don't mean this in a bad way about issue 1; it's just that issue 1 had a lot of catching up to do ('here's what's happened since you were last in Thedas') and setup both for Varric&Harding (they should open a detective agency together)'s current quest and for future issues in this series. that was quite a lot of setup and the comic issues only have a few pages. now in Issue 2, the story is properly starting off and the plot thickens etc.

continuing the theme of issue 1 (which is: Varric Is Having A Very Bad And Terrible Time), this issue opens with Varric groaning and cursing. it really is like this huh.. "shit", he says, while.. stepping in shit.. it's eponymous. eponymous suffering.

change in art style and artist from issue 1. if memory serves, Fernando Heinz Furukawa is the artist who worked on some previous DA comics such as Dark Fortress and Blue Wraith. here's Varric portrayed by Fernando in Knight Errant:

it's day and night! he looks Older and more tired, and also maybe redesigned (outfit, scar etc). if this comic is set around 9:52 or shortly beforehand, he's over 50 years old now since he was born in 9:1. according to this tweet of Fernando's, it wasn't Fernando who did a redesign, BioWare had sent along the reference for Varric for this comic. are we looking at Varric's DA:D Era (Dad Era..) Redesign? is this how he'll look in DA:D? if so why did he look the same as usual in issue 1 - was it a recent decision of BioWare's that happened after issue 1 had been illustrated but before 2 was drawn? or is it just differing art styles between issues - I notice that each of the 4 issues of this comic has a different artist. it will be someone else again in issue 3, so I'll guess we'll find out based on what he looks like in issue 3 :) also, a different artist for each issue is an interesting choice - is it to showcase as many different peoples' talents as possible?

We don't see much of Vyrantium in this issue but from what we do see I think it looks cool

Harding's hair is definitely red/orange here. in one leak the person wrote that there was a rogue lady dwarf party member. in another the person implied via emoji codes (hh) that one of the companions that they saw is a lady with red hair. with these in mind plus Harding's presence and appearance in this DA:D lead-in comic, I wanna speculate that Harding is a companion in DA:D. if Harding is and Varric isn't, I'd be down with that! I'd rather he isn't a companion again, and this setup would provide a lady dwarf companion, an ascended extra (see: Cole, Merrill etc), and the familiar returning face/Inquisition representative on the team without filling up a slot with someone who has already had a turn at being a companion. maybe, like Charter says in issue 1, Varric builds the team, but instead of joining it in person himself, it's Harding who joins the DA:D roster and he's around doing some stuff in the background like giving quests or advising or something. Varnick Fury...

last time we checked in on the Qunari invasion of Tevinter, they had invaded Neromenian (Dark Fortress). before that they invaded Carastes (Blue Wraith) and Ventus/Qarinus (Deception). now the Antaam have progressed towards Vyrantium and are laying siege to it. this shows the passage of time between our looks at Thedas and that that the world isn't static, and it keeps building the backdrop in Tevinter of the Antaam invasion as a potential background plotpoint for DA:D (reminds me of the mage-templar war in the background of DA:I). the Tevinters don't seem to be having much luck in this war, losing city after city to the Antaam.

looking at this progress map below, I'm reminded of this line from Dread Wolf Take You in Tevinter Nights: "I fear everything east of Vyrantium will be under their control inside a year, and northern Antiva as well", said by the Mortalitasi at the meeting Charter attended. we're seeing this come to pass now, and if it roughly followed that projected timescale it gives us a bit of insight into when Charter's meeting with Solas in TN took place relative to the effective prologue to DA:D (this comic). if the Antaam keep this up, I guess the next settlement is Marnas Pell and then onto Asariel. Minrathous has famously never fallen to siege or invasion. I guess you could still effectively choke a country by capturing all of its other cities besides the main one though. maybe the plan is to take the rest and Minrathous would be the last hold out? its food supplies in the Catacombs will only last a year

"You think Solas would have crawled through a city's worth of shit to get here?" felt like a bookend to Varric's comment in the previous issue, "It fits, though. A refuge in the ass end of nowhere is exactly Solas’s style". at this point varric sounds like he's talking about an ex who jilted him lmao. and probably not, Varric, he's probably fast-travelling around as it suits him via the eluvian network. I thought the highlighting of sense of timing, how long it took them to get there, how rough the road there was and the obstacles they went through to reach their destination was interesting. maybe it's a precursor (for the sake of creating contrast) to the possible upcoming 'travelling around via eluvians' stuff from the recent leak? to the possible plotpoint of 'here's how the Inquisition remnants have eluvian access now'? it's taken them weeks to walk from Marnas Pell to Vyrantium, which gives a sense of the scale of Thedas and emphasizes travel time outside of in-game 'fast travel' mechanics. Solas is basically leading them on a wild goose chase in this comic series all over Tevinter. given his effective teleportation relative to their having to walk for weeks to get between cities, he has them at a massive disadvantage.

new locations in the lore: Armael Hills, Wava River/Wava River crossing. given that they have travelled from Marnas Pell to Vyrantium, these must be places in Tevinter.

"food poisoning" ye sure okay bud. at the end of issue 1, Varric was after a stiff drink. this panel is a smart bit of continuity from that, and also, BioWare must have fully known what they were doing with this panel lmao.. on a serious note though I hope Varric is doing okay like, and this was just a hangover after a celebration like he says, rather than part of his recent tired/sad/kinda strugglin vibe. otherwise coupled with his older tireder more haggard look it reminds me a bit of Ser Aaron which is sad to think about :( (RIP)

lmao the valet was really like "You? The noble famous Viscount of Kirkwall? but you're so scrungly, stinky and oldlooking.. No. It can't be so. Bye"

if Lady Crysanthus has been 'indisposed' for months it means Solas was here months ago. that's confirmed when they mention about how the bedroom hasn't been used in months. they're so many steps behind him and would continue to be - the walking distance between Vyrantium and Arlathan Forest is even further than that between Marnas Pell and Vyrantium.

I enjoyed how their cover story was "Hi I'm Varric", they walked straight up to the front door, showed themselves and told him who they were, and then broke in talking about how they're supposed to be being subtle lmao. (also that setup for the house going up in flames at the end and condemning the lady's husband to death so dramatically, LOL subtle indeed. I guess it was them being ironic). so knocking on the door was Harding's suggested approach, Varric had initially suggested breaking in and they decided to try Harding's way first. that's nice, it contrasts them as characters and carries on that idea from their discussion in issue 1 about their two different suggested ways for approaching/dealing with stuff/Solas if they found him

so about Varric's redesign, he has speed stripes now/salt and pepper hair, and where/when did he get that big serious scar? also would you take Varric's hand and trust him, even though he's like, a pathological liar? after that panel i would ok

Tevinter architecture is cool (red glass windows) and I like those lil Tevinter wind chime looking things. inside the bedroom there are serpents coiling around the bed posts.

Harding was right after all, and had the smarts to check under the sheet. she looks shook when they discover Crysanthus. and no wonder, of course the only person they know who can turn people to stone is Solas. from the lady's outstretched 'Stop!' arm and scared facial expression, it doesn't look like she and Solas were having a pleasant conversation when he did this.

that wall mural... lmao. the dog looks kind of like a mabari, which I guess I could see since they originated in Tevinter. my random obscure headcanon is that this ~Decadence~ mural is supposed to, by in-universe artists, depict the golden age of the Imperium when it ruled most of Thedas and before the mabari defected to the 'barbarians' of the south hh

Teia and Viago!!!! as the front cover prophecy foretold!! man we knew it was coming but i still went OOOOOO at them appearing. their entrance and they in general was/are so cool. they look amazing!!

The question is, who put out this contract on Crysanthus to the Crows and why? it must have been a pretty big deal (the person who took out the contract and/or the reason for taking it out), otherwise what are two Talons from two different Houses doing on a job in Tevinter when the Antaam is currently invading Antiva and we know from TN that the Crows including Teia and Viago (Eight Little Talons) were going to be taking the defense of Antiva seriously?

So the Inquisition remnants are still basically "The Inquisition" when it comes to name-dropping, and Varric 'my cover is hi I'm Varric also I'm gonna break in now' Tethras has no qualms about telling a pair of Crows they've just met that they're working with the Inquisition. whereas he omits mentioning Solas specifically by name. I guess "Inquisition" is an easier sell than "The Dread Wolf"

also interesting, why are the Crows concerned about a Tevinter mage possibly working with the Venatori, or about the Venatori planning a possible concerted move against the Imperium, or about stopping that? I'm reminded of TN where we learned that a mysterious patron had contracted the Crows to kill a bunch of prominent Venatori (Lucanis' story). some of the Venatori were scared about that, particularly of the aforementioned notorious Crow, "The Demon", who had been doing a lot of these contracts. the Venatori said that they wouldn't cower to foreign mercs like the Crows. and it was implied that the anonymous hirer was elfy, as they gave Lucanis assistance/info about a magic secret passage inside a statue of a vhenadahl, the passage of which was lit with veilfire and guarded by an elf, Athima, who was sent by their patron. then Lucanis died or "died" and we saw his wake, which Teia and Viago were at. and now here are Teia and Viago in Tevinter on a contract job to take out yet another Venatori/Venatori collaborator. are they continuing where Lucanis left off? Crows, the Venatori, and Solas... curiouser and curiouser

the fight scenes in this comic were cool. Varric at one point doesn't even draw Bianca, he just socks someone in the face like POW

when the valet says "You've killed us all just by being here", is it Lady Crysanthus' husband that he's thinking about or someone else? the Venatori? the person who turned the lady to stone?

so Lady Crysanthus was a spymaster who had records and notes on many known Venatori agents, as well as maps and papers relating to their plans to get a magical artifact/magical weapon called the Crucious Stone out of Arlathan Forest. she was also helping Venatori operate in Tevinter. given this, why would she invite Solas to come and talk to her? their mutual interest in the Stone? was the invitation even for Solas, or did he or whoever was using the room in the Deep Roads get it from the person it was actually supposed to be for after he/they got wind of this scheme?

the Stone can bring the Imperium to its knees. that would explain why the Venatori, who are apparently plotting a move against the Imperium (to.. make it great again? I guess they have to take it down or take it over before they can make it great again?), would want it. Solas isn't a fan of the Imperium - is he interested in this Stone because he'd also like to impact Tevinter, or because he needs to use the Stone's powers for his plans relating to the Veil or similar? (I'd think more the latter than the former) Any relation to, or how does it tie in to, the Orb or the idol?

Also I wonder about the specifics of the stone's powers. to bring the whole Imperium to its knees.. we must be talking blood magic? I'd guess? plus some Veil wibbly-wobbly Fadey stuff too, if the last page of the comic is anything to go by. also, the shape of the stone reminds me of the sarcophagus from Dark Fortress. that artifact was of unknown origin but built to fit an elf and there were some possibly elfy aspects to its design..

Varric's one liner while the guy stabbed through the wrist crushed by a broken statue of his beloved departed wife while he burns to death is. stone cold.

this time around there's a reason why they didn't gather up a bunch of papers/books from the Secret Den, it was going up in flames and they had to escape. makes sense. I still wonder why they didn't take those books with them from the Deep Roads room in issue 1 hh.

in the panel where they are back outside on the streets of Vyrantium, the column of smoke from the burning house can be seen in the background going up into the sky, and off to the right in green is the figure that Teia clocks in the next panels.

presumably the possible Venatori assassin is the Venatori we saw tailing Varric&Harding at the end of issue 1.

Varric and Harding leave Teia and Viago on a positive note which is nice. I hope we meet them for a bit in DA:D :)

also since it was confirmed that the characters in this comic are Teia and Viago, I think again about the 'this comic is introducing us/re-introducing us to various factions/groups who are players on the chess-board or otherwise of note in DA:D' idea. Issue 1 had Wardens, 2 the Crows, 3 looks to be the Veil Jumpers. also since it was Teia and Viago, I'm also once again wondering if the two Veil Jumpers will be Strife and Irelin, who we know are in a Dalish clan that lives in/near Arlathan Forest. (also I enjoyed the confirmation in this comic that a few/multiple Dalish clans live in Arlathan Forest. those clans, like Morlyn, sound super interesting due to the magical/ancient nature of the Forest)

About the last page of the comic, the tree branches give an elfy vibe, and that structure in the distance being upside down gives a Fadey and/or Arlathan Forest's current time/space topsyturvyness vibe. could the archway in the structure be an eluvian? is this how they get eluvian travel? is this what's in the heart of Arlathan Forest, or is it somewhere in there where the Veil is thin and the time/space reality warping has influenced things? did Dalish elves build those walkways?

the synopsis for Issue 3 is as follows:

Following their adventure in Vyrantium, Varric, and Harding travel to Arlathan Forest in search of the crucious stone. When the duo finds themselves face-to-face with a pair of Veil Jumpers, they decide to team up. Finding what they seek will have them up against puzzling obstacles, and their success could depend on the allies they can gather.

I was tagged by @rjcopeseethemald! I haven't done one of these in a while and really enjoyed the questions here, so I decided I'd give it a go for my wip: Wings of Faith!

This art is a bit old but it's the last time I've drawn everyone all together haha

1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?

Surprisingly enough, Emmie (a main character, but not the protagonist) is the first part of my wip that I created (See the red girl on the top left). She was the protagonist of the very first book I wrote in fifth grade, and I wanted to pay homage to that work by including her. However, she's changed a LOT since then (even her name!), and the only remaining carry-over is the red streak in her hair.

2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

Intro song: "Run to the Devil" by Dragonwyck or "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult. Outro song: "It Will Come Back" or "Francesca" by Hozier Instrumental: "Dragonlord Placidusax" from the Elden Ring Soundtrack or "Danse Macabre" by The Oh Hellos

3. Who are your favorite characters you’ve made? Why?

Andrew, my protagonist, is by far my favorite character. Writing from the POV of an incredibly sensitive, incredibly traumatized person (who feels things very deeply), while outwardly projecting a cruel and defensive facade is... *chef's kiss* Otherwise, I'd have to say Emmie. She is a very layered and multifaceted character with an incredibly important role to play in the story, and her kindness is refreshing amid a mostly hardened cast of characters.

4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?

Six of Crows fans

5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?

Keeping the facts straight. This has been a 10+ year project and sometimes I forget the revisions I've made, and accidentally cut out important details...

6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!

Yes! Rimfaxe is a wraith, aka a shapeshifting shadow monster that takes the form of the things he's killed and eaten. (See the top left of the art above!) Emmie stole him from the government and now he's basically her kid.

7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)

They mostly walk (or fly on Rimfaxe)! Because Hell has a ceiling, the authorities restrict car transport to government officials ONLY to keep down emissions.

8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?

A giant, chapter-long fight scene that I've been working on for a literal year. It's TORTURE. Can't explain much else because of spoilers haha.

9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?

The main romance is an mlm enemies-to-friends-to-lovers angel x demon pairing! (Angel x demon pairings where they're both assholes>>>>>) Also I feel like there's been a void in lore-focused media dealing with angels and demons, and I'm hoping Wings of Faith will fill that void!

10. What are your hopes for your wip?

That I get it done after 10+ years... and that people will like it :')

A Narrow Perspective of Pikmin 4

So, I played Pikmin 4 with my friend. My friend, a guy who has played every Pikmin game (including hey Pikmin and the Pikmin game in Nintendoland) and has 100% completed Pikmin 2 which happens to be the most challenging Pikmin game. As for me, the extent of Pikmin knowledge is basically just what my friend tells me and I guess also bingo battles in Pikmin 3.

I'm trying to say that, I have a Narrow Perspective on Pikmin (boom title drop).

Sorry about that, I accidentally pressed on the question and I don't know how to remove it.

I went to my friend's house and he said that we were gonna beat Pikmin 4. I was only helping him with the final cave and final boss. I should also preface that this won't have any spoilers.

How Pikmin 4's co op works is that the first player is doing all the Pikmin throwing and the second player is kinda like the second player in Mario Galaxy, it's an offscreen entity throwing things to help the first player out. The second player can throw rocks to damage enemies or to speed up Pikmin who are carrying treasures to the ship and the more rocks thrown, the more a meter will fill. Once the meter is full, the second player will obtain an item which can only be used by them. This meter does not fill too quickly or too slowly, I think it fills up at an adequate pace. We played together for 2 hours roughly and we had just enough items, we were never in excess and we were never out of any particular item that we needed at that moment. The one outlier for this would be the PikPik carrots, they were always in excess and I had 80 of them exactly before fighting the final boss. It is safe to assume that I ended the game with 77 or 78 of them because I remember accidentally throwing a pikpik carrot 2 or 3 times.

I always knew this friend of mine was professional, I watched him decimate Pikmin 2's Water Wraith and he's always sharing strategies for cheesing (to beat a segment of a game in a way that the developers did not intend) bosses in these games. I didn't know just how good he was until we worked our way to the final boss, I didn't know just how vast his knowledge of Pikmin was until we worked through this final area. We were going in almost completely blind and once he saw layout of any given map and it's enemies, almost instantaneously, he would devise a strategy. This was impressive to someone like me as I usually became overwhelmed by the bosses and his calm demeanor contrasted my surprise.

Of course, every game has the factor of chance and no matter how good you are, there will always be something you can't account for (I'm an earthbound/mother player, I should know this) and this resulted in a few losses. Like, at one point a rolling obstacle resulted in 90% of our Pikmin falling into the Abyss. Another loss, would be our encounter with an enemy from Pikmin 1 and it killed all of our blue Pikmin and the game told us that it wouldn't be wise to progress without them. Other than those 2 losses, we made quick work out each area. I can't speak for my friend but I certainly had a lot of fun even if I was just pelting enemies with rocks and the occasional bomb. I guess it's just fun when someone's really passionate about any given game and they kinda have that capacity to geek out about it and show off their knowledge and skills in regards to it. I was also able to put a face to the enemies and bosses he mentioned in our conversations about Pikmin.

This game also contains one of my favorite things in all of gaming, rest areas. Rest areas are severely overlooked, like yeah, they're gonna save you and prepare the character that you're playing as for whatever lays beyond but rest areas should also prepare the player mentally, one game that does this really well is Mother 3 and I guess Earthbound because Mother 3 gives you hot springs to restore everything and remove all ailments but also there's relaxing music, sometimes there's a rare npc to chat to which always eases my mind before a fight, Earthbound also rest areas, which are usually little parts off to the side of the action with butterflies like in Giant Step, coincidentally this is also usually in caves. I'm going to stop right there with Mother talk because I can talk about that series forever. This game also gives you rest areas both official and unofficial. In my mind, I classify official rest areas as a break from battles where you can heal up and prepare your character for what is to come while also preparing yourself as the player and unofficial ones are just the same thing but they're not there to prepare the character, just to prepare the player (this is not an actual definition, it's just a distinction in my mind). All the actual rest areas are chock full nectar and treasure but they also have ambient music to calm the player. There's also the part after you beat all the enemies on one sublevel and your Pikmin carry everything to the ship and everything is just empty. I know some people find empty spaces unnerving but I find them relaxing, I used to watch those empty mall videos to get to sleep back in the day. Anyway, there's so much empty space in these areas and it's usually a rush to get to the next sublevel but sometimes my friend would excuse himself to go to the bathroom or to do something else and I'd sit there and stare at everything. I'd stare at the emptiness, the Pikmin carrying remnants of humanity away, the dark Abyss that lay below, the beautiful graphics and I listen to the music, it's kind of beautiful in a sense, I have a Narrow Perspective on Pikmin but I wonder if they've ever explored themes like this in previous games, I know Olimar expresses some interest in the previous inhabitants but do they ever explore the idea that people roamed pnf-404 and had each of them had their own lives and now that's all gone? But who's "they"? I shouldn't be calling the previous inhabitants "them" because it's us.

Oh, he's back from the bathroom, I guess let's carry on with the review. Where was I? Oh yeah, the ambient music is really good in this game and when you're actually engaging in battle, there's this almost tribal music that plays, I've jested that it sounds like Monsters University montage music but as good as that is, the beauty of Pikmin's soundtracks always lies in its ambience...

I'm not sure how to transition to this last part so I just put an ellipse at the end of the last paragraph to make it seem like I was leaving you some food for thought even though it was a really blank statement. Anyway, Final boss. I'm not a NARC so I won't be spoiling the final boss for any readers, this is a fairly new game but I will say, if you haven't gotten there yet then please do your best to avoid spoilers because it is a doozy. Even my friend was caught off guard by it and he's a Pikmin veteran, he's crashed on the planet over 4 times now.

I do kinda wanna lightly touch on the characters, just lightly though. I didn't see any of the new characters get fleshed out (do I have to refer to the title of this review for the 3rd time now) so, I'll talk about Louie and Olimar. Louie gets placed in a more sinister light in this game. I feel like the game recognizes the extent of his evil but the characters do not. Olimar is also the most relatable protagonist ever, like he's a family man, who is mistreated at work and can't do anything about this mistreatment. This familial aspect shines through in the way he interacts with the others, (in what I've seen of this game) he acts as an authority and is clearly more experienced, not in regards to using Pikmin but just in general he has more life experience. Also he gives Louie the benefit of the doubt even after all the trouble he caused which just goes to show that he wants to believe that Louie is a good person, it's almost parental, like no parent wants to believe that their child is capable of bad things. I also watched a Pikmin 2 twitch stream the night before, the streamers were actually two content creators who inspire me in writing things like this. If You're into long reviews of old games nobody cares about, then watch Transparency on youtube. Anyway, as a joke they compared the Olimar and Louie to Peanuts characters and I thought that was really funny. Olimar is basically Charlie Brown, everyone mistreats him and he just has to go with it. Not sure who Louie is though.

You decide, which Peanuts character is Louie. I will judge you harshly depending on your answer.

With that, I draw this review to a close. We played together for 2 hours, in total my friend had 55 hours and has 100% every area on his first, blind playthrough. Everyone give him a round of applause. Give yourself a round of applause for reading this long ass review. I'm also sorry for giving you an existential crisis at one point in the review, if it's worth anything, I actually love the fact that our legacy on pnf 404 will live forever through Olimar's notes.

Alright, I’ve seen warrior nun and here are some thoughts. (spoilers) 1) Beatrice is Bae 2) Watching Mother superion’s glow up from “Harsh headmistress” to MILF was delightful 3) The costumes were fabulous. They didn’t always make sense, but boy were they fun to look at. (Lilith’s glittery blue scale eye makeup? Slay, girl) 4) it is criminal that Ava and Bea didn’t figure out their feelings before hiding out in the Alps together, because that would have been a lovely honeymoon. 5) It is CRIMINAL that Mary never came back. I mean, I’m sure the actress had better things to do season 2, but as she was the objectively best character of season 1--we were robbed, okay? Lilith, in particular, was robbed. She needed Mary back bad. Also, I see you gun-wielding black nun added in for the final battle. You aren’t Mary. We aren’t fucking fooled. Mary isn’t that easily replaceable--no scabs! 6) what the fuck was that plot, though? 6a) Adriel makes it clear that he is telepathically linked to divinium, because its his armor. we know this is true because he used it to talk to Miguel (even though he does not appear to be wearing armor in the flashback, and we see him making armor out of trask bones, so...bit fuzzy on what constitutes as “his armor” exactly) point being: why the fuck wasn’t that developed into a plot point in season 2? Why did the nuns keep using divinium weapons and wearing divinium jewelry, etc? Why wasn’t every piece of divinium (including badboy- priest’s tattoos) considered a security risk? that would have presented a super compelling limitation on our heroes...but no. disregarded completely. 6b) For an underground sect whose primary millenia-long mission was to exorcise wraith demons out of people, they did an awful lot of none-of-that when encountering countless possessed “zealots.” Hard to root for “saviors” who see possession was grounds to kick them around and stab them impressively--as opposed to, you know, saving them from trauma or damnation. while it didn’t track for the characters to actually feel that way, the writing set it up as if they did by never showing them in the process of saving anyone, even in cases where they weren’t outnumbered. 6c) If divinum is the only thing that can kill demons and you can’t use divinium anymore on account of Adriel spying on you through it--fine. Tragic cost of the high-stakes situation. It’s hard for the audience to see innocently possessed people getting beaten up, but it’s hard for the characters too. We’re all in it together. If, however, you get to keep your divinium due to some gaping plot hole f*kin stab the f*kin demons with it! G*D! 6d) Why the hell did Reya leave without her Halo? Has she not been sending trasks after it for Millenia? Could she not have used her “vast powers” to cross the room? She could even have left Eva some divine life-support as a “thank you” compensation.

TYSM for asking <3 idk if i've said it before but i'm still doing a playthrough with sal, so i'm still figuring out how tf her canon turns out. also, spoilers beware. (questions taken from here)

🍙 - Goro Takemura: When he and Sal truly get to know each other, after he drags her out of the landfill and literally saves her life, she can't help but empathize with Takemura. Both are strangers in a strange land, fish out of water who despise Night City and know that this isn't the place they're meant to be. However, his allegiance to Arasaka and insistence of still aligning with them even when Sal tells him that he has the chance of starting over and making a life outside of corporate servitude is something that ends up driving a rift between them and souring their relationship. In my canon, he ends up escaping Arasaka forces during Search and Destroy while Sal is the one who gets captured, and shit happens from there. I still haven't figured out his canon fate, but knowing who Sal ends up dating and the corporation's fate, I don't think that things go peachy for Goro. (Goro stans don't kill me pls)

👁 - Sandayu Oda: Besides a couple of snarky comments about his appearance and very impractical haircut that almost got her ass beaten, their relationship is… tense. Oda is loyal to Hanako to a T, and when some dusty nomad not only kidnaps her but also starts dating her disaster of a brother (while it's not elaborated on canon, I think Oda and Yorinobu would probably not get along very well) AND has the nerve to beat him in a fight, you can probably imagine how they feel about each other. At first, Sal is also low-key scared of him (those icy blue optics will always look uncanny to her and the mantis blades don't help), but she quickly realizes that he's just an annoying twink (her words, not mine).

💴- Hanako Arasaka: As it should be obvious, kidnapping your (future) sister-in-law doesn’t leave a good first impression (who would’ve thought?). Honestly, I still need to work on their relationship a lot, because, again, canon is still a WIP: while I don’t see Hanako as much of a rebel as her brother, Yorinobu still loves her, so I don’t feel like her fate would be the same as the other canon endings that aren’t the Devil (aka she ends up dead). But what I do know is that her icy, perfect, manicured facade lowkey scares Sal the first time they meet face-to-face and still does (she either feels like Hanako is judging her, plotting her demise, or both); but that if they ever get to know each other more deeply, they quickly get along and Sal ends up glad to have her as her in-law. Their fave pasttime is watching Real Housewives of Heywood and talking shit about the cast.

🔧- Saul Bright: Sal’s feelings towards him are… complicated. During their first meetings, she thinks he’s a stuck up asshole who wants to impose his own will on the clan, which is a big no-no to her. However, during Riders on the Storm, after she and Panam almost die trying to rescue him, Sal softens up and understands him a little bit more (after all, if Panam is willing to raid an entire Wraith camp to get him back despite their disagreements, he must mean a lot to the Aldecaldos). Sal does eventually side with Panam in her quest to royally piss off Saul get the Basilisk, but she still respects Saul even though she disagrees with him.

❔- Receiver/Sender’s Choice! (If there’s someone not on the list!): Let's talk about Claire! Two trans ladies who love cars obviously make for a long-lasting friendships despite Sal's extremely bad and dangerous driving (and Claire still wondering how the hell they even made it into the final race). After the Sampson incident, the two have a big fight where a lot of personal feelings are involved and end up not speaking to each other for a while; when Claire finally calls Sal back, Relic fuckery has gotten worse and the two don't truly reunite after the game's ending.

i've done everything there is to do in pikmin 4! platinum in every mission, 100% map completion, all side missions clear. i'll give some of my final thoughts about the game under the cut (spoilers for a lot of things, also this gets long):

the sage leaf's trials were a wonderful postgame surprise. that kind of time management strategy stuff really lives up to the standards of pikmin 3's mission mode. i assumed doing louie's missions would give me the white and purple onions and i got a joke upgrade instead

they did a good job balancing the eight main pikmin types. very happy with the white and purple pikmin, making them very useful but not overwhelming, and still held back by candypops. i feel like choosing what type is best for each enemy is a lot more complex and interesting this time around than "this guy is immune to this element, bingo, badaboom"

on that note, it was really great of the final boss to switch away from the every element thing done with the titan dweevil and plasm wraith and instead go for a standard phase, three elements, and then a surprise gloom phase. great music too

if i had to name one, i'd say winged pikmin are the least useful ones this time around. all those fears that the variety of ways you can approach water would make blue pikmin terrible ended up hitting winged pikmin a lot harder. you can feel how much of a hit the speed nerf is, although it entirely makes sense with the return of white pikmin. it's nice that who's better for carrying really depends on the situation

flarlic was a great change, in pikmin 3 it could be a matter of a day before your squad explodes from 1 into 70-80 and you could approach most things without worry, the squad size limit makes earlier enemies more engaging

it really seems like a love letter to pikmin 2 in many ways. none of the returning enemies felt out of place, they were all a joy to see again. really wish they didn't bring back the whole 1000-weight treasure thing with the gold bar in primordial thicket though, grinding purples is no fun even if it's easier in 4!

if there were ever any form of content updates made to the game, i hope they add some more arenas to the standalone dandori battle mode, as that's the area of the game i feel is the most lacking. i only got to play pikmin 3's bingo battle a handful of times, but i know my fiance will want to play it with me when we see each other again

out of the 65 hours i've spent playing this game so far i feel like at least 15 of those must be me screwing around in the piklopedia's engage mode, and i understand why there are so many youtube videos of just piklopedia enemy interactions

there's a lot of options for challenge runs here. you could try to play the game without items, or even without upgrades or oatchi training. i'd love to see how much of a difference the endgame makes without 6 health upgrades and all the elemental resistances lol

warning!! so many how to train your dragon: race to the edge spoilers below the cut!!!!!! ive rewatched it many times, and my musings often include talking about how things are foreshadowing to future events!! which means those future events will be spoiled alot!!!!

i decided to rewatch it, but write down my reactions and things i found interesting this time!!! this is episodes 1-5, and ill be posting these in installments of about the same size!!! unfortunately, that size turned out to be about 2k words long, which is alot!! this is the trimmed version, which clocks out at about 800!! ill add a link to the full version below!! it has more of my personal opinions + things i found interesting/cute!! but you can definitely get the general gist with this version!

Ep 1

-dagur is genuinely spooky!!

-HIS GIGGLES!!!!

-hiccup and toothless r so cute, they have the best dynamic

-“i seriously need to get my own wings” adore the foreshadowing to the flightsuit!!!

-hiccup & stoic r so fun, hiccup is full of shit, he knows it, stoic definitely knows it

-snotlout is so sassy i love him

-with the power of hindsight?? johann is so shady??? his story doesn’t rlly hold up to scrutiny

-snotlout immediately yelling at fishlegs to grab his leg the moment he gets a grip on something??? i love how he shows he really cares thru his actions even tho hes a total dick all the time

-dagur genuinely knowing hiccup well, while being extremely unpredictable himself, nearly entirely so, is what makes him such a difficult foe and a genuinely intimidating villain at times

-someone explain dragon biology, snow wraith walks on its wings like a quadraped, but its wings are placed on its back, not its shoulders, like the six-limbed dragons?? look at hookfang and toothless, hookfangs wings are at his shoulders because they are his front legs, toothless’s are at his back because they are an extra third pair of limbs, the snow wraiths is placed like toothless’s but functions like hookfangs???? i am aware i am looking too deeply into this but i cannot help but think

About the Dragon Age: The Missing #3 plot synopsis (under a cut due to spoilers) -

the "crucious stone" sounds like another macguffin. will it be comic-exclusive, or one that will be of relevance in or that crops up during DA:D? and what is its function, what are its powers? the first thing it reminded me of was the Cruciatus curse (Crucio) from HP, the Torture Curse which inflicts excruciating physical pain on the target. 'crucio' apparently means 'I torture' and 'Cruciatus' apparently takes its name from the Latin for pain or torture. but I don't go here (to languages, word meanings and etymology hh) so those words might not even be related at all x) it also sounds like "crucial", important.. crucious.. in-world it sounds like it could be derived from Tevene stuff? in the comic issue prior they've travelled from Vyrantium after having spoken to who sounds like a Tevinter magister, so maybe the Lady Chrysanthus gave them this lead?

and what's Varric&Harding's (they should open a private detective agency together hh) interest in the stone? do they want to get it to use its powers to help their cause, or do they need to get it to stop those they're trying to act against from acquiring it for their plans? they're on a quest to find Solas in this comic series right, so what's his relation to the stone? is he trying to find it, does he want it? have they been told that he's (or his agents) after it or that they should get it because it could help stop him? I also wonder what it's doing in Arlathan Forest? maybe rather than Tevene its ancient elven? last time we got a look in there, Strife had noticed something had gone wrong in the forest. time and space was stretching and folding weirdly, reality warping, and he and Irelin saw echoes or mirages of themselves running around. mysterious entries had begun appearing in the relic journal of the Morlyn clan describing sacred ruins in there guarding a powerful fabled artifact, a halla figurine that Irelin grabs during that story. when Varric&Harding arrive, will they also be facing this sort of thing (mad sylvans, reality& time/space warping)? is the crucious stone similarly guarded by sacred ruins? could it have something to do with what's gone wrong in the Forest? even when Irelin succeeds in grabbing the figurine, Strife still feels that something has gone wrong in there.

also really excited to see inside Arlathan Forest in general, thistime with lots of images due to it being in comic format. we went in there in a short story in TN, there's an accompanying image to the Strife/Irelin short story, and part of Blue Wraith was set near it, but to see inside proper with many images.. (๑*ᗜ*) last time we heard from Strife and Irelin they were there too, my idle daydream is that we get to meet them in this comic :D

btw from marnas pell to vyrantium to arlathan forest Varric&Harding have been on a eastward track. if issue 4 continues the trend and has them leaving the Forest, maybe in issue 4 they'll hit the White Spire or Brynnlaw?

now, the most interesting part of the plot blurb is of course the Veil Jumpers!!! my immediate thought was that maybe these are the Triangle Guys? they're mysterious and new, they have weapons and gear with floating bits on them (Fadey and obviously Fade - Veil), they're elfy, they've been shown in landscapes with floating rocks (Fadey), their weapons glow Fade-green, they appeared in a DA:D trailer (archer), going by the art piece accompanying the Strife and Irelin short story Strife may be connected to them.. maybe the two Veil Jumpers Varric&Harding meet are Strife and Irelin, and it turns out that's why Strife & Irelin are kinda mysterious and seem to know stuff (got that feeling from them in TN), because they belong to this group. the blurb makes it sound like Varric and Harding decide to team up with the two Veil Jumpers, which means Veil Jumpers are people/people-like beings that have the capacity to make decisions and the like, not just a new kind of mob or something.

this comic series is an official lead-in to DA:D. are the Veil Jumpers a new faction we will meet in DA:D? are they pro-Solasplans or anti-Solasplans? where do they fit into all this? can Solas, the Fade Walker, Veil Jump himself? is "Veil Jumper" the name for the mages of the faction, and are those that can jump all mages, or for the faction as a whole and they can all jump? if they're mages could it be a mage specialization in DA:D? if they can all jump is it innate power they all have or have gained, or tied to something like their triangle floaty gear?

in X-Men, Nightcrawler teleports himself by displacing himself into the Brimstone Dimension, travelling through it, and then returning to his own dimension at a certain distance from his point of departure. "Jumper" implies speed, as opposed to like, slowly opening a portal and entering it like you're walking through a gateway at an airport, or the Inquisitor, holding up the Anchor and pointing it at a rift for a while to close it. so this is what it reminds me of. blinking in and out of (seemingly) existence. maybe it works like this: they effectively jump back and forth across the Veil, to someone in the mundane world appearing to vanish in front of them. they then travel some distance through the Fade (time seems to be of less import there), then jump back across the Veil, materializing somewhere else in the mundane world? maybe they're elves who've gotten control of part of the eluvian network, or have their own similar means of travel, and they travel around Thedas by using the Crossroads? where do they usually live? in Arlathan Forest somewhere or in a pocket dimension? there are enclaves of ancient elves kicking about Thedas ("your people yet linger") somewhere.

Fenris' lyrium tattoos give him the ability to phase through solid objects and this is somehow connected to the Fade. Danarius' work was based on his research on an ancient treatise which described the process. it's theorized that the treatise was ancient elven, it's also theorized that there's some connection to vallaslin. maybe the Veil Jumpers are like Fenris power-wise, but dialled up and aware of how to use the power fully (since it's their own art, not something someone not of them recreated based on a scroll and then imposed on someone else, with neither the imposer or the person he did it to being aware of what it fully/really is), to the extent that they can jump back and forth across the Veil at will? there are also skills like Fade Step ("You let invisible waves of magic carry you forward, blurring ahead a short distance") and Fade Cloak ("You surround yourself with the magic of the Veil itself. You are briefly invulnerable and can pass through enemies unharmed"). it's easy to imagine a new type of person/class/faction based on this sort of thing, especially if it was a group of people who have ancient magic and know more about Fade stuff. or maybe Veil Jumping can only be done in places where the Veil is thin? Arlathan Forest is one such place. that could be a nice way of limiting the power, so that if we had a Veil Jumper squadmate and there's a locked door in an area we're exploring, they wouldn't be able to Jump to the other side to unlock it unless we were specifically in a place where the Veil is thin. and whats their interest in the stone?

this was a brainrot ramble but I'm rly excited to meet the Veil Jumpers, whoever they are :)

i’m convinced ms swift actually wrote this song for them. i don’t think explanation is even needed.

i've got some tricks up my sleeve/ takes one to know one/ you're a cowboy like me- “tricks up my sleeve” referring to kaz being a master of sleight of hand and generally a conniving mastermind, and the latter is them similarly being people made from trauma and hurt

never wanted love/ just a fancy car- love was the farthest thing from their minds; kaz wanted revenge (and money) and inej wanted a boat so she could leave this shit

you’re a cowboy like me/ perched in the dark/ telling all the rich folks anything they wanna hear- they are both “perched in the dark” in different ways; inej literally because she is THE Wraith, kaz metaphorically, hiding in the shadows, biding his time for vengeance. kaz swindles the “rich folks” by feeding them lies and double-crossing them like six thousand times.

you're a bandit like me/ eyes full of stars/ hustling for the good life/ never thought I'd meet you here- they’re both bandits and thieves and criminals, and kaz definitely has thought about inej’s eyes more than he would ever admit. they met unexpectedly, through the dirty streets of ketterdam.

it could be love/ we could be the way forward/ and i know i’ll pay for it- kaz and inej has a tentative relationship, both of them knowing that if this turns into love it may have repercussions and dangers

and the skeletons in both our closets/ plotted hard to fuck this up- they have secrets and bad pasts that could potentially ruin their beginning

i’m never gonna love again- because they’ll only love each other, no one else :)

wesper - gold rush

once again wesper has the pretty love songs because it’s what they deserve <3 and it’s so fitting for them simply because of the pure chemistry (ahem, get it?... sorry) and magnetism between them, which is perfectly embodied in this song.

gleaming/ twinkling/ eyes like sinking ships on waters- jesper describing wylan’s eyes as “clear-water blue”. and “gleaming, twinkling” makes me think of jesper when he’s teasing wylan

but i don’t like a gold rush/ i don’t like anticipating my face in a red flush- wylan’s tendency to blush everytime jesper says something remotely suggestive

i don’t like that anyone would die to feel your touch/ everybody wants you/ everybody wonders what it would be like to love you- wylan: *looks at kuwei*

walk past/ quick brush/ i don’t like slow motion double vision in rose blush/ i don’t like that falling feels likes flying till the bone crush- them being extremely in love with each other (what’s new), and jesper mentioning that wylan made him “feel like a kite on a tether, lifted up and then plummeting down, and he liked it.”

what must it be like/ to grow up that beautiful?/ with your hair falling into place like dominos- i imagine jesper is fairly obsessed with wylan’s curls because... who wouldn’t be?

and the coastal town/ we wandered 'round had never/ seen a love as pure as it- the coastal town being ketterdam, and i like thinking about the locals staring at wesper and going “they’re so adorable...”

helnik - evermore

now... this brings a bit of pain... i don’t know why i keep giving helnik such sad songs since they’re not the most depressing ship but... it just fits them so well. also, crooked kingdom (major one) + king of scars/ rule of wolves (not so major) spoilers. don’t read if you treasure your spoilers chastity.

gray november/ i’ve been down since july- thinking about nina in king of scars, still mourning the loss of matthias, still heartbroken while undercover

i replay my footsteps on each stepping stone/ trying to find the one where I went wrong- nina having guilt and self-loath over matthias’ death, replaying his death over and over again.

and I couldn't be sure/ i had a feeling so peculiar/ that this pain would be for/ evermore- when matthias died nina lost a part of herself, and she was in a lot of pain

hey december/ guess I'm feeling unmoored/ can't remember/ what I used to fight for- in the start of kos nina was undercover, trying to find out a new meaning, trying to find something she has to live for

can’t not think of all the cost/ and the things that will be lost/ can’t we just get a pause?/ to be certain we’ll be tall again/ whether weather be the frost/ or the violence of the dog days/ i’m on waves out being tossed/ is there a line i could just go cross?- also nina being disoriented and lost when she lost matthias, trying to heal (”can’t we just get a pause?”), trying to remove the pain from her heart (”is there a line i could just go cross?”)

and when i was shipwrecked/ i thought of you/ in the cracks of light/ i dreamed of you/ it was real enough/ to get me through/ but i swear/ you were there- i like to think that this was a shift to matthias’ pov. when the drüskelle ship sank and they were literally shipwrecked, then when matthias was jailed in hellgate and he constantly dreamt about nina (and also about killing her but we don’t talk about that), it was thinking about nina which kept him surviving. and ofc the notorious chapter 40. and then nina doing the same (thinking about matty) when she was in turn “shipwrecked” (lost matty), and him being the only thing that kept her living.

and i couldn’t be sure/ but i had a feeling so peculiar/ that this pain wouldn’t be for/ evermore- an echo, during rule of wolves when she realised she was in love with hanne and saw that the pain of losing matthias could be healed

My theory about Tractus Danarius

I have written this before the last comic comes out so if something insane happens then guess that’s that. I have read the last comic and stand by everything I say. I have an add on at the very end for comic 3. There are spoilers in it.

Remember this is a theory and I am perfectly open to being wrong. Just please be nice. I am well aware I sound insane. Just go with it. It was 3am when I started thinking about this and so my brain might have gone a bit nuts.

Also Dark Fortress, Dragon Age 2, and Blue Wraith Spoilers. THIS IS YOUR WARNING!!!

Now the theory:

I noticed something and I wanted to share.

Seems very farfetched and really crazy but the thought has been bugging the heck out of me. So now ya’ll get to suffer with my insanity. Not really sure why the idea popped into my head but I remember Tractus and one of the character silhouette and they looks kind of similar. There are clearly some differences between the two but all the major differences between the two could easily be explained by design changes while fleshing out the character more.

Another thing that kind of stuck out to me was on the cover (I’m assuming it’s Tractus.) he has what looks like a gauntlet on his right are (that I noticed he didn’t have in the comic as far as I could see.) and in the concept art the figure does seem to have something on their right arm.

(Sorry it’s so big. Tried to fix that but it’s not working.)

I can’t seem to figure out why he has the gauntlet. At first I assumed it had to do with the injury he got from Fenris torturing him but when looking at the scene I noticed Fenris had injured his left arm and not his right. So not sure what was up with that. I’m open to the possibility that in the concept art the arm maybe is at an angle that makes it look strange but it really does look like the character has some kind of armor piece on his arm and on the same arm Tractus has his on the cover.

Another similarity is both seem have the same hair style and a very similar outfit style. I did notice that Tractus’s hair style is on the opposite side as the concept art but with the angles of the scenes in the comic it would makes sense if they just decide to change that.

The outfit design is a lot like the upper-class Tevinter Magisters concept art. Which would make sense considering who his Tractus’s father is (He who shall not be named). While Tractus doesn’t have the very sharp shoulder angular outfit but neither does Dorian. So could again just be a design change they made when coming up with his final design. (Or I could be wrong.)

Extra Points I have: (Some of these rely on IF he is a companion. I am well aware I am most likely wrong but these are just what ifs.)

- He’s really dumb: Not sure what I have to add to this. Basically self explanatory. Maybe he thought his title would protect him? Maybe he just assumed two fishy looking old men who clearly find him annoying as heck wouldn’t get rid of him first chance they got? Maybe he has shitty judgment? Maybe all three? What was even his plan? He seemed pretty unaware of what was going on so I kind of wander what did he even think was going on?

- We know almost nothing about him other then who his father is, and the fact he has poor judgment. He showed up, got tossed out, tortured, get tortured again, and ran for it (really not his day). He could be a whole evil gremlin or just an idiot and we wouldn’t know. I just think him existing raises some question that were never answered and his fate was left pretty open. (Again I have not read the last comic so this could change.) According to the wiki he’s still alive (somehow?).

- He doesn’t seem to be a blood mage. Just kind of surprises me considering who his father is.

- IF he is a companion he wouldn’t be the first ‘kid of a dead villain’ companion in the game but he would be the first half elf who actually knew he was a half elf. Half elves aren’t treated great in Ferelden so I can only imagine it sucks in Tevinter but since his father is a magister is a mage maybe it’s different? Although in the comic Magister Nenealeus doesn’t seem to respect the kid at all and I wouldn’t be surprised if that general Tevinter opinion of half elves was similar. It was also mentioned that Tractus was only recently recognized as an heir after all of his half siblings were killed. It’d be interesting to know his opinion on elves and this could depend on who raised him. His mother? His father (god I hope not)? Maybe he got sent to some third location to get him out of the way?

- I think he might for the criteria for a new companion. (Depending on how the third comic ends) His home is about to get destroyed and he’s basically getting stepped over by all of his allies. His title seems pretty hollow to the other magister (and not sure if this is how everyone treats him?) and his family name ain’t really doing anything for him. Everyone talks about the new companions not having any power and he seems to fit that pretty well at the moment.

- He could die in the comic. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised. He’s just made a series of terrible choices and I don’t see this going well for him. Even if by some miracle he makes it through this series can’t imagine DA4 would treat him well either.

- He could tie into Fenris somehow. Fenris mentioned killing all of Tractus’s half siblings so he might try and kill Tractus as well? IF Tractus was a companion maybe we’d get a choice to let Fenris actually kill Tractus or let Tractus live. Again just an idea and I’m sure the writes would have something less basic then that.

Final Thoughts:

I know I keep repeating this but this whole post is pure tinfoil 3am tired brain speculation an I could be so far off. (Also I am well aware this theory has 101 holes in it.) A lot of this could be put down as coincidence and the character could be a completely different person. Tractus might show up in DA4 as a villain if he makes it out of Dark Fortress somehow alive. Not gonna lie, I think he’s an idiot and really annoying but I’m willing to give him a chance if the option is presented. Nathanial was one of my favorite characters and his entrance wasn’t exactly great either. This is kind of ironic to me considering my previous ‘throw me to the void before I side with Danarius’s kid’ post from a while back. So either way I’ll be eating my words. Thanks for getting through all this and I’m sorry for sounding nuts.

Add on after book 3: OH MY GOD HE LIVED!!! Not only that but he has the idol! So I stand by everything. There is still a chance things can change but for now this is all I have to say. He’s still alive and I predict will be in Dragon Age 4 in some way.

NIMUE

Status: dead Notable dark deeds: becoming the first Dark One, using Facilier to return to our world and trying to kill most of the ‘heroes’ Evil Rank: 6/10 - victim of Merlin’s selfishness, but extra bad points for working with Facilier

PETER PAN/MALCOLM

Status: dead, killed by Rumplestiltskin Notable dark deeds: abandoning Rumplestiltskin for eternal youth, kidnapping children in his search for Henry, kidnapping the Darling family and keeping Wendy captive, pursuing Henry into giving up his heart, switching bodies with Henry, killing Felix and casting the Dark Curse Evil Rank: 8/10 - the head of the Stiltskins, no wonder they all turned out bad

RUMPLESTILSTKIN
