I don’t know if it’s because we just entered Mercury Retrograde but I could not, for the life of me, figure out how to start this pile. But it could also be part of a message that I had previously gotten just from the cards. I think this could be from your coworkers, classmates, or maybe just in general, people are grateful for your attention to detail. Your perfectionism could drive you crazy but I think people are grateful for the fact that you make sure everything is in order so nothing goes wrong. I keep getting that you could feel like it’s a hindrance and maybe it’s because it stems from anxiety. And maybe you do get a lot put on your plate because people expect you to be able to handle it (which is a downside to why they are grateful). 

You also hold an air of peace. You could be a very soft person (you don’t have to be) and you hold a space for people without really realizing. People love to be around you because you genuinely soothe their nerves and worries. Once they step foot into the room you’re in, once they are enveloped by your presence, it feels like they are teleported into a whole different world. You’re like the sound of a babbling brook, birds singing as they fly through the trees, leaves crunching underfoot on a dirt path through the woods…People can finally take a breath when around you. You could notice that people are more willing to open up to you, even the most shy person would talk to you. People could also find it easy to fall asleep around you. But I also get the sense that you aren’t that for yourself. You seem like a very worrisome and anxious person. 

You could have stuck up for someone in the past and they are grateful for that as well.

For the people you have walked away from, people that you don’t align with anymore, they are grateful that you walked away. You may have had guilt even though it was for the better and they could have acted cold after, but just know they are grateful that you did. Before I even got the cards out, I could already feel the protective and determined energy coming from you. I had instantly reached for my oracle to shuffle your cards before even clearing pile 1. You are the manifestation of ‘when life gives you lemons.’ You could be given cups that you aren’t happy with so you decide to pour the water out and then fill it with what you want. You are a go getter. And honestly, people are grateful of characteristics that others could find absolutely annoying.

You are the backbone of the workspace, the family, and/or whatever relationship you have with others. You are willing to speak your mind which doesn’t leave room for second guessing, creating a strong foundation for any relationship. In the workplace/classroom, projects get done, deals get made, and the environment thrives. You are a very prized asset to any organization. Also, if you are good at tactics and work manipulation (like sales or areas that need it), they are grateful for that.

This one was pretty straightforward and it feels like this is what people notice about you the most, so I suppose it also makes sense that it was based on your characteristics. There is a slight 18+ message that I got (so if you’re young, please skip this bit). But if you have a lover, they are grateful for how balanced and fair it is in bed.

This one does have a heavy romantic feeling over it. This could be a partner or a future partner coming through, to be honest. But I think you can adapt this to anything (we’ll see).

So before I even got cards out, your energy washed over like a princess/prince/liege stepped into the room. Your energy gives Rapunzel from Tangled in a way. Like it’s the pure form of the princess (not the warped idea where people want to be a princess just to get what they want). You felt bad for pile 2 as you stepped into the reading. Then, I was reshuffling the oracle and the romance card was shown. I kept it in so I can have cards pop out but once I was done, I HAD to find the romance card and pull it out but I also pulled out the communication one. This is why this reading is so romance heavy. I honestly feel like it’s from a partner or a future partner, maybe partners from the past. 

You are The Empress card embodiment. They think you are so beautiful (no matter your gender) and they just feel grateful for your mere presence. You can make a bad boy good. They are so grateful for the change you brought into their life, even if it was sudden and hard to adjust to. You molded them into their peak form and they are more than grateful. And I think they show that by being healthily obsessed with you. They know they scored a rare gem and they won’t treat you any less than.

You seem to also have it easy? Not in a bad way! You just seem to breeze by issues with a wave of your hand and a “I can handle it” attitude. Maybe you calm peoples worries and help them get through issues that they think are really stressful. It's a lovingly queer take on many of my favorite classic fantasy tropes-- the princess locked in the tower, inanimate things brought to life and suddenly grappling with a soul, the mermaid who gets human legs and must assimilate; It's about breaking cycles of abuse and healing the trauma of isolation through participating in community, self love, and a warm beverage. Did I mention the flying cat?

But let me talk about Scottish Robin a little bit more, PLEASE. I'm going to say that Scottish Robin was a young Dick Grayson (Robin I, Nightwing), 12 years old canonically, so he had been Robin for either about 4 years at that point or had just started, and judging by the fact that he wants to go out by himself, I'm going to assume he had become Robin when he was 8, and will be joing the Teen Titans in about a year. But none of that's relevant. What may be relevant is that Dick was originally from a circus, so we might be able to link that to The Mystery of The Midnight Circus. Haha, that's not relevant either I just want to link stuff together. :)

Now let's get onto the other batfam members:

Now here me out on this one. Andrew was held hostage by a drug lord, possibly even tortured a little. Jason was held hostage by a crimelord, definitely tortured. That's all I got, I struggled. So much.

Wulf (Danny Phantom) x Gus (ROTTMNT) (Claws & Spikes/Gulf/Wus/Big Gay Doggie Husbands): Of course, this ship came to me not long after I started shipping Raph and Jazz. This ship came solely from my personal headcanon, where Gus is the companion/bodyguard of Octavia Goetia because she is Big Mama's goddaughter/niece, and Wulf is Danny's bodyguard/companion, so Wulf and Gus bonded over their protectiveness~

Melinda (Fantasia) x Nessus (Hercules) (Nelinda/Messus):

I really like the idea of Nessus being the first centaur Melinda met, and she accepted him as her mate unconditionally, which was a huge surprise to him and to her friends who find him ugly and scary. Melinda is happy with Nessus, and that's all that matters.

Angela (Gargoyles) x Batgirl/Barbara Gordon (BTAS) (Babsgela/AngelBabs/Barbala/Oracle Angel/ForeignAngel/Bluebelle & Lavender): I recently recalled my friend @frie-ice mentioning a Batman and Gargoyles fanfiction she planned to write a year or two ago. This got me thinking about how Barbara and Angela would bond and interact, and now I ship them! Don't worry, I still love Angela and Broadway too.

Chris was half listening to his girlfriend [the bride-to-be, the velvet box in his pocket was heavy and so pleasant], his attention was completely stroked by Percy's newborn daughter - the folds of the blue department parted to reveal the baby's tiny face. She was angelically pretty and looked like Jason-blonde hair, face shape, nose, lips, but her forehead, chin and cheeks belonged to Percy. Chris wondered what her eyes were like, were they the color of sea waves or electric blue? As if he sensed his question, she opened her eyes and looked at him, Chris froze and he did not know if his face expressed his emotions. The girl's eyes were steel-blue, bright and calm, kind. And so familiar. He saw that look when Kore quickly kissed him on the forehead, covered herself with a veil and ascended into the palanquin. Then Alabaster and Ethan closed the silk curtains and Chris never saw her again. Chris exhaled, warmth spread in his heart and bending down, he pressed his lips to the girl's forehead. Her warmth was familiar and pleasant, the one he occasionally allowed himself to miss. "Bluebell lived a good and long life, she remembered you... she died basking in the sun and I burned her wrapped in your cardigan, the one you gave me for her". The girl cooed as if gratitude, Chris felt tears in his eyes. She really deserved a second life.

I finally gave her a full name :]

Aelia, which has Greek and Latin origin, means "sun", "sunlight", "solar heat". Her sunny name is symbolic and metaphorical - she is the sun of a new, happy and prosperous chapter in the life of her parents.

Carissa - Greek name for "belover" and "grace". It was given to her for two reasons, firstly, Jason and Percy love their daughter so much so that they even show it with her name, secondly, it is consonant with the name Clarissa - Clarissa is her godmother and Percy's close friend.

For her nickname Ella, I chose the meaning storm, and it is given to her in honor of the harpy Ella, because she is useful and valuable. Besides, she is a passionately loving aunt.

By the way, a small spoiler - part of the Delphic oracle is still with Kore/Aelia, she will begin to remember her past life and it will be Chris who will be with her and help her parents.

I love the idea of Chris and Clarisse being extremely close to Percy, Jason and their daughter even after all the time that had passed. How did you guess that I’m a sucker for Percy’s and Clarisse’s friendship? You’re in my brain by now, I swear-

I also absolutely love how Chris guides little Aelia as she grows up, mirroring the way Kore aided him in the war days. Their friendship is really special, so much so that it overcame death and fate itself. (Gotta thank Nico and Will for that) I love them so much.

Lastly, I see how much thought you put into choosing a name for her. Aelia Carissa is very meaningful and suits her well. You really love your girl and it shows :) (Are you Jason? Is her father writing this to me? /hj)

I would name my witchy magic shop something like the Whimsical Eondrous Witch Shop or Bluebell's Bewitching Boutique.

I would sell herbs and flowers, fresh and dried from my own witch garden. Sometimes some (poisonous) plants too. I would like to have many spell books and grimoires. A corner with cabinets of curiousities as well as (cursed) antiques. A black cat or raven or both should guard the shop. I want a room for oracle and tarot readings and lots of crystals and gemstones. Lots of trinkets, odd and strange little magical things. Potions and tea and everything a witch or wizard might need. 🌟

I've basically been doing very little with my time besides watching Shaman King 2021 so phew, here are some thoughts on Episodes 10-32!

Episode 10

The bit with everybody hanging out at the inn was adorable, hee.

I LOVE BOZ THEY'RE SO FUNNY

It's odd that Yoh is already paying that much attention to "Hao" considering the name has come up once? But yeah...

Ryu comes back!! And damn, he already qualified for the main tournament?

Bason and Ren are too cute. Also, it's interesting to watch Ren's mindset change and hee, we get the showdown against Tao En!

Episode 11

Phew — Ren gets captured by his Pops and the Zoldyck vibes INTENSIFY.

I don't remember the Tao family having their own Super Sentai Squad, but hey, it tracks!

It's a bit of a shame that these battles were concluded so quickly, but it was cool to see Horohoro and Ryu's upgrades!

Can't believe Tao Rn squeezed that poor baby panda to death only for it to be resurrected as a zombie in the next scene! SHEESH!

Episode 12

This episode also went at THE SPEED OF LIGHT! I cant believe we got Jun's dramatic rescue and the whole Tao En reveal and fight in the same episode! I mean, at this speed, Ren's deep loyalty to the gang does seem a bit goofy, but hey, I'll deal!

Ryu saying, "Just what exactly do you think wavering is?" had me laughing so much, oh man.

Episode 13

How is SO MUCH happeningin EVERY EPISODE?

Yoh and the crew leave home!

They meet Hao!

They get dropped out of a plane!

They meet Lilirara, who's really cool! There's sone backstory!

They go on their way — AND THEN LILIRARA DIES???

Wild!!!!

Horohoro continues to be adorable and guh, I'm really enjoying watching the episodes dubbed... honestly, the dub iis really, really good!

Episode 14

WHEEE LYSERG THE DOOFUS IS HERE... to be honest he's a lil green Sherlock. Isn't it nice that everyone has a colour-coded Oracle Bell lol Yoh's is orange and Lyserg's is green... it's been like 15 years but I still don't know if I've forgiven him for what comes later. Whoops.

Anna is such a great character and I love how much bearing she has on the story.

New ending! And it's Iron Maiden Jeanne!!

Also, the goof with 6 years versus 8 years... Lyserg's parents definitely weren't killed 6 years ago, sheesh.

Episode 15

Okay, so this was one of the eps where the pacing was definitely painful. Anna got a (hodgepodge) version of Hao's backstory — honestly, why didn't Yohmei just tell her the whole deal if he was going to reveal so much? And then, she dealt with Hao's familiars SO QUICKLY that there was like. No threat to them at all. I was expecting more boom bang...

But she did use the 1080 beads! We love the 1080 beads!

Horohoro is just one of the best characters and I loved his upgrade, gosh. Again, we could have had a whole episode dedicated to his time with Apollo, rather than 10 mins. I also don't know HOW Ranger Bluebell knew bout him wanting to become the Shaman King since that wasn't discussed

For obvious reasons, Morphin is renamed Morphia in the dub, hue.

Episode 16

Not much that I can say about this episode (I was a bit sleepy when I watched it). Ryu is getting an upgrade — at lastl! And this episode had some of the humour I love from Shaman King: the whole bit with the vampiric guys was SO funny. "If there are only 5 in the group, why do two of them look the same?!" Yoh/Ren/Horohoro are such a darling trio.

And man I hate Marco (thought ťhe X-Laws are great villains who basically permanently impacted mine and my friends' psyches; they're a specific type of evil) but boy oh boy, it is sooo good to hear Seto Kaiba in an anime again, sobs.

Lyserg... tbh, I don't think I ever forgave his betrayal back from 2001; THERE'S STILL A PART OF ME THAT'S MAD. I wonder if I might feel differently this time around but I half-expected the little green bean to run off with the X-Laws in this very episode so I was a bit surprised when he didn't.

And then a surprise! Hao chatted to Anna and Manta and Tamao! Anna looks so cool with the sunglasses, lol. Though... I feel like Manta's being from money is largely a plot device (because how else would everyone get to the States)... but I often find this with rich/wealthy characters. sighs!

Oh, also! The Shaman King timeline is SO WHACK. Like, Ryu says to Yoh: "You forgot about me in Izumo which is when I trained to be a shaman." But here's the problem. I think Ryu only went to Izumo in the he first place to take Manta there and THEN he trained with Yohmei — but the flashback reveals that Ryu had to wait for a week to get Yohmei to train him (why is Mikihisa Like That btw) which means that. Yoh would have already been back and fighting and drawing against Ren and therefore concluding prelims in the same time that Ryu was supposedly waiting for Yohemi to train him? And yet Ryu somehow had an Oracle Bell AND qualified for the main tournament? While Ren had only completed two battles?

fudjdjd stuff like this drives me absolutely cuckoo I NEED WRITERS TO HAVE CHARTS AND TOURNAMENT TABLES AND TIMELINES AND ALL ELSE. URHFJFJD

Phew... to say that the X-Laws are brutal is putting it lightly... and looking at Jeanne and the way she was in this episode and knowing that she ends up with Ren is very. HUH?

I kind of can't believe just how laidback Yoh is sometimes. It kinda irritates me a tiny bit? Back in the day, I couldn't choose between Yoh, Ren and Horohoro for the Favourite Character Spot, but I'm not firmly Team Horohoro, ehe.

Poor Team Niles. Gosh.

Episode 22

Crying and sobbing... why won't Shaman King just give me. A TIMELINE? So now I discover that it's been TWO MONTHS since they were in the Patch village (???) and it's already the last battle of the first round of the tournament (???) and that Anna already taught Team Funbari Hot Springs EVERYTHING in Hao's big bad book (???) and? We didn't get to see any of that? Like I understand this decision if that's how it went down in the manga and the double OS was a major, unprecedented reveal, but if not... I LOVE A TRAINING MONTAGE. Give me these arcs...

Also, the dub's choices for which terms to leave in Japanese are messy. They use words like Onmyoji and Ultra Senji Ryakketsu, but 'Mana' replaces 'furyoku'... like I'm pretty sure the 4Kids dub used furyoku because it was a term I was v. familiar with.

Anyway, its nice to see a battle span two eps!

Episode 23

Wowee... this episode got me teary. Ryu's upgrade is NICE and Anna talking about the flexibility of Yoh's furyoku was so sweet. I also love the Icemen and their design — and it was particularly cute to see Pino and Horohoro chatting together at the end.

And then Hao's whole convo with Ren (the 4Kids dub called him Len and Yoh nicknamed him Lenny which was the cutest; gah, things I miss!) was really interesting

BUT WHY HAS YOH SOUGHT OUT LYSERG THE TRAITOR... ooft!

WAAAA WHAT A COOL EPISODE?

Okay, so it turns out that I was wrong about all the matches being over because this ep was HAO VS THE X-LAWS and damn, Hao using OXYGEN as his medium? That's bloody cool!!!

The OST in this ep was top tiiieeer and freaking — the X-Laws being humanised? A bit? I am SHOCKED.

WOW I LOVED THIS EPISODE.

The senior Asakura and Tao folks coming together to discuss Hao's bigtime book and the gang finally finding out about Yoh's origins! I got to see TAO RAN again (I love her) and freaking heck, Mikihisa is so cool? I guess jury has to be out with him a liiiittle bit because I've seen people commenting that he sucks. But. I have a major soft-spot for shounen dads (Goku, Echizen Nanjiroh, Van Hohenheim, Kurosaki Isshin...) and I reckon Mikihisa ticks cool points.

And freaking Ren! Why is everyone so cool??

Oh man, I can see why people were so obsessed with this arc... there is just so much emotion here from all sides: Matamune (having to defeat Hao!!), Yoh and Anna, Kino — everything.

You can see why Yoh and Anna are the dream team, wow.

Also, I looked up a timeline and I think I can make my peace with it being the year 2000 in canon... but the anime did not explain it AT ALL, which is pretty poor.

I know people have been hating the ableist decision of removing Barbara Gordon from Oracle and returning her in it without mentioning her disability since 2010.

After some reluctance, I feel I would’ve been okay with Barbara having her legs back only if we see her with a cane and if she’s ever back on field, she takes a different title.

I want to jokingly suggest Oriole (sounds like oracle, bird of prey maybe, fit her of black/yellow contrast with her red hair color scheme).

However, while researching, I noticed Barbara has “BlueBelle” listed as one of her alias in DC wiki. Can any comic book fan tell me where it’s from and why she doesn’t use it now instead of Batgirl?

Prompt(s): Infection & "I think there's something wrong with me."

Summary: During their guardian travels, Nerissa and Yan Lin contract a virus that makes flowers grow from the skin.

For all of the dimensions that they travel to, she is sprirsed that it hadn’t happened sooner. It was Yan Lin first and then her. It started with a very soft, almost whispered,  “I think that there’s something wrong with me.” And she had deteriorated from there. 

Nerissa swears that this will be the last mission she goes on. She will hand the heart of Kandrakar back to the Oracle. 

Yan Lin has recovered but her right hand is still as teal as the stripes on her stockings. The very same teal that is appearing in freckles on Nerissa’s own skin. Soon the buds will come. She imagines pretty little blue bells. Pretty little bluebells that will agonize her when she tries to preen them away. 

She is alone.

Alone where she can’t spread the infection.

Not to Cassidy, Kadma, nor Halinor. 

And not back to Yan Lin. 

Alone where there will be nothing but pain and petals. 

The teal has taken over her hand by the third day. It leaks constantly and most of the time she can’t tell what is ooze and what is skin. 

She has never been able to leave injuries well enough alone. She picks at scabs and can never keep her tongue away from those spots on the inside of her cheek that she keeps accidentally biting. She’ll be stitched up and Kadma will spend the first week or so scolding her for playing with the stitches. 

This is no different. She pokes and prods at her teal hand–the skin of it feels almost spongy. It doesn’t quite hold its shape if she applies enough pressure. It reminds her of one of those stress balls, the ones that will regain their shape but very slowly. 

It is almost fascinating in some sick and morbid way. 

She had expected it to hurt more. Mostly it just tickles. On the fourth day the tickles become a torture in their own right–they are unrelenting and scratching them does nothing to alleviate it. It only serves to bunch her skin up in all sorts of strange ways. The tickling is under her skin and violent enough to make her want to filet her own hand and scratch it from the inside.

The flowers begin to flourish on the fifth day. 

This is when things become horrible. The buds that haven’t pushed through, break through her skin suddenly and without mercy. Those that had already made it through, unfurl. Not bluebells but balloon flowers of a powdery blue. 

They open as if they were an extension of her. They may just be an extension of her–at the very least an extension of her nerves. When the petals open it feels as though her own skin is being peeled slowly back with a gaping hole at the center. 

Yan Lin had gone ahead and sheared them off right away, screaming and crying with each clip. Nerissa can’t bring herself to do it, not when she knows that it will feel like chopping fingers. And so they creep up her arms with vines and leaves to go with them. They curl and coil about her, living bracelets. Admittedly they are gorgeous. She thinks that she looks like a goddess of some forest variety. 

Momentarily she dances with the idea of letting this infection claim her. Of letting it cover her it dainty, lush flowers. The Oracle says that she has to cut them soon or the infection won’t go away. If it reaches her heart or her brain then it is too late, she will become just a tangle of flower and vine. At least she will have a beautiful, thriving corpse…until it is set aflame to keep the disease from spreading. 

It is with a deep breath that she takes hold of the garden shears. 

If Yan Lin had been severing fingers then she is going to be severing arms. 

She swallows hard and clenches her teeth. It would probably do her well to bite down on something. 

With a cloth bunched up and fixed between her teeth she takes the shears and clamps them down at the base of the largest stem. She shrikes into the cloth once in pain and once out of frustration–the shears hadn’t gone all the way through. In fact it takes twisting and sawing to get it completely severed and she has to do it with one hand. It is like rubbing her skin away layer by layer. 

By the time she has the first vine cut and curled up at her feet, she too is on the ground and bunched up into a little ball. 

She can’t do it anymore. She had let it grow too far. She can’t do it by herself and this time the heart of Kandrakar can’t save her. 

She trembles lightly, feeling sick to her stomach but she picks up the shears once more and resumes sawing away. Once or twice she wakes up on the floor with the shears a few inches away from her limp hand. Everything hurts, everything is hazy. The daze is a curse and a blessing, one that takes the pain. One that makes her movements clumsy and sloppy. She nicks her own skin several times and has opened a large gash that weeps a teal and red. It collects on the floor, taking on a more magenta hue. 

She and the balloon flowers bleed in unison. 

They may just die in unison. 

She can’t remember having cut the rest of them away but she must have. At some point she had to have. She lays now in a tangle of dead vines and flowers, her entire arm throbs. She holds it to her chest and whimpers.

They don’t let her out yet. 

They hadn’t let Yan Lin leave the quarantine until the teal on her hand had lost its vibrancy. 

Nerissa’s doesn’t until approximately day fifteen. 

By the time they drag her out she thinks that she might have lost something of herself. Something important. But she isn’t sure what that thing is. Yan Lin takes Nerissa into her arms. “You’re going to be alright now.” 

And maybe it is because those were the first words that she has heard in a little over two weeks, but she believes them.
