no im sorry but now that i know one of the redacted wips is one of the bad batch as a dad I MUST know at least which one it is 😭
Hahaha no I get it, I know it’s kind of a tease to put it on the list if I’m going to be cagey about it. Mostly it’s because idk how it’ll be received and I don’t want people being snide in my inbox about the choice of character/topic
Anyway it’s Tech lol

I can't speak on the harassment thing. What I can say is that it's not as simple as "try or don't try," that the instruction of "choose to stand out" isn't that simple. I *am* putting the work in to elevate my appearance, and it's not as straightforward as it sounds.
"Stand out in a crowd. Wear something unusual." It sounds straightforward, but you have to know what most people are wearing. That's not hard to pick up, but most guys don't pay attention to it- they're not raised to pay attention to it, they have to realize it's a question (or be taught) and then start actively looking. It's a habit you have to work on.
"Pick clothes that look good." *Rough* to do. Most men's clothes come in large, medium, and small; most men (or at least, I and the ones I've asked in my area) make do (made do, rather) with whichever size is "close enough," rather than scouting for clothes that fit your frame and shape specifically. Again- not hard, but it's something you have to be *taught.*
"Good" clothes go beyond fit, too. You have to find colors that match, or at least don't clash; you have to *learn* which colors match. Jeans and a shirt are easy because jeans go with a lot of colors; learning to find ones that go together *well* is an entire process. This one *is* hard, even if you know what to look for.
Oh, and good fit and color isn't enough to make an outfit pop- of course not, that's a thesis in the original post. Understandable, really, because a lot of this *is* pretty basic once you know to look for it. You need to introduce something *more.* Pattern, texture... accessories.
I haven't delved into accessories yet. Accessories are something a lot of men *do* learn about, usually within a small set, but they're not something *I* was taught to work with. Rings, of course, earrings (often unusual for guys, so easy points there), bracelets, necklaces... and the whatnots that go with an outfit as a whole.
I am insufficiently educated on whatnots. I plan on looking into it- and, if anyone would like to point me at some resources, I would appreciate it. I know goths and emos (or just one of the two? I struggle to determine the difference) tend to have a lot of them, so I suspect there are folks here qualified to give some tips.
Regardless- rings, bracelets, necklaces. If you have a strong personal aesthetic, it's easy to find ones that match your style. I like eyes, so I've got some evil eye accessories, one or two realistic eyeball rings, an eye of horus ring somewhere... but most folks don't have an aesthetic. I don't know how to help find one- again, perhaps folks here can help.
Still- an aesthetic is something most men (and most people, generally) don't have, and that makes shopping for accessories much harder.
Now, patterns and texture.
Most men's clothes do not provide pattern and texture.
Meme shirts, band shirts, shirts of shows and movies and franchises, they exist- but they don't tend to go well with the other factors that "sell" an outfit (unless you're punk), and so they're hard to make work. They also suffer from the great disease of men's fashion: other than the print-on, they're usually plain and monocolor.
Almost all men's shirts outside the mentioned and button-ups are plain and monocolor. Cotton, wool, polyester, no matter what it is it's almost always going to be plain and unornamented unless you're shopping somewhere specialty.
"So shop somewhere specialty!" Yes. Correct, you have identified the solution. Men who want to elevate their style need to learn what fit matches their shape, find what colors go together and work for them, decide on an aesthetic, and go looking for stores that specifically sell clothes that match that aesthetic and look through them for clothes of the right fit and pallet. Over time, they can replace a wardrobe's worth of clothes with better-fitting and better-looking clothes.
It is a process. All of this is a process, and one that takes work and thought and effort. I know it's frustrating when people complain about a very solvable problem- but there's a reason so many haven't solved it, and it's because the problem is a lot bigger than "just try," or "just wear something better."
I just know that the dudes who make those "girls get 500 compliments a day vs. guy gets one compliment once and cherishes it for the rest of his life" memes put zero effort into their appearance. Like what exactly do you expect people to say? Wow nice plain ill-fitting hoodie, goes great with your basic-ass blue jeans and nondescript haircut. Got some real cool Grey Man vibes going on, you could seamlessly blend into any crowd ever without being seen at all.
Like nobody has any obligation to look any certain way, but you can't expect to be praised for doing something you're not even trying to do. I dress like I got tarred and feathered in a Tim Burton film costume department discard scrap pile, and someone saying they like my style is a biweekly occurrence.

Blind side (Patreon)
#Doodles#UT#Handplates#Sans#Papyrus#Gaster#Sans closing his good eye every once in a while and keeping his blind eye open - obviously he does so in-game as well so it's a style-match#It's just interesting in the context of him being textually-confirmed blind in Handplates hehe#There's a level of vulnerability there! Not more than closing both eyes around someone - and potentially also distrust!#''I'm baring myself blind right now but /you/ don't need to know that'' - it suits him ♪#Especially when he does it around Papyrus! Because obviously Papyrus knows about his partial blindness#But when he's trying to be duplicitous - the way he looks at him sidelong with his blind eye when he's trying to lie unsuccessfully ugh <3#And again-again it being about how much he trusts Papyrus! That he can be a little lazy or spacey and Papyrus will help him!#Also something about his entire right side being impaired - pawing around with his plated hand for something he can't see on that side#The dynamics! Internal and external! Very good like them lots#And then there's Gaster lol ♪ Throw him into the mix I'm sure it won't make a mess at all haha#I guess he's visiting? Just spacing out - he and Sans have a lot on their minds - separately haha#I do love how Sans pushes Gaster to be kind to Papyrus - very deservedly! He wants Papyrus to be happy of course#And he's obviously still angry with Gaster a lot but how might that present itself when Papyrus is Papyrus at Gaster hehe#Even just in that small jokey way of ''you tryin' to step on my turf?'' hehehe#Especially since the comparison wouldn't even come up if he had two functioning eyes hm?? Right Gaster???? Lol#Speaking of that scene and Sans' partial blindness tho ughhughuhg <3 <3 The fact that Sans stands with Gaster to his blind side#It's the vulnerability/distaste/confidence of it all! He's grown up so much it's all right there in how he holds himself#That he either trusts Gaster enough not to attack him - starting to believe him - or that he has enough faith in himself to protect himself#And only looking at him with his peripherals unless he looks directly at him hghhhgh I am Normal about shot composition I swear lol#Also I like how that last panel turned out lol - Sans just appears at the bottom of the steps like how's it going. care to gtfo thx

Certain lines and scenes in seasons 1 and 2 take on a very different (largely tragic) lens after the reveal that Lu Guang dived to save Cheng Xiaoshi, but there is also something darkly comedic about this guy going back in time and planning everything out as perfectly as he can, only for him to have to frantically improv in several instances because the guy he’s trying to save won’t stop doing things

Dreamed about OgCale and Rok Soo being roommates besties in a modern fantasy Earth AU—
Except the whole dream was OgCale swinging and humming in the kitchen, preparing a dessert as breakfast. Then he opened Rok Soo's door and threw a pillow at him, saying "WAKE UP, BITCH. THERE'S BREAKFAST"
Then the two of them had a quiet "Rok Soo's birthday" breakfast and fed a cat while recalling how they met.
Apparently Rok Soo was sitting in a bank outside a house/apartment complex? And OgCale came and told him no one sits there because the woman living in the store above likes to water her plants too much. Cue Rok Soo getting a whole bucket of water rain over him. OgCale then got him to come over to his apartment, which was nearby, to get him dry. I don't remember what he said exactly but we know the real reason is he's kind when he doesn't have to put an act.
Anyways, Rok Soo ended up staying for the night. Later they became roommates because OgCale's cat kinda adopted him, so OgCale decided he was fine. OgCale jokes about that a lot. So does Rok Soo, just most people don't notice he's joking. He calls the cat "Milky-nim".
#I'm pretty sure the apartment was at both their names#ogcale changed it to be that way after some time living together#bc he didn't want roksoo to feel like he could take away his home at anytime#it might had been his first but it wasn't really a home until he got used to feel someone else there#before that he felt like he could take his dog and milky and walk away at anytime and don't come back#rok soo is his bestie and kinda like having a sibling but without complicated external factors#—so he decided the best way was to make it so he legally owned the apartment as much as ogCale#can't remember why rok soo was sitting there. i think it had to do with his uncle doing something that put Rok Soo in trouble#despite not having seen the guy in ages. (ノ ̄皿 ̄)ノ ⌒== ┫#rok soo was working part-time in some place that I'm sure was the company but in a less screwed world#but he was doing a sort of paid-intern/walking database job that had started as just damage control#and ogcale had a design company and was getting a title bc he likes to do stuff he enjoys#rok soo thinks he's a weirdo bc he only gets lazy about things he considers a bother (some people) or boring#and og cale thinks rok soo is the strange one bc he can go hours without doing anything and consider it the most fun “activity”#og cale#original cale henituse#og cale henituse#kim rok soo#lcf#lout of the count’s family#trash of the count's family#tcf#milky is short for milky way and he has white-stained black fur#he's really small and probably abnormal bc they both had seen him glow in the dark at some moment#the dog is a big girl and is called Balto bc she was really stubborn about being calle that

Blaming Silco for Felicia’s death imo is more of an underline as to why Vander was a very flawed character/revolutionary leader and not why Silco was inherently evil. Everyone showed up to fight, where it seems like Vander was the sole survivor and everyone else was shot/ran. That is the reality of resistance, you don’t know going in when the switch is going to flip and when shots get fired. Silco didn’t shoot Felicia and Connol. Enforcers did. Vi and Vander both say verbatim that they were killed by enforcers, I know that one scene implies Silco feels guilty and Vander blamed him for escalating by tossing a Molotov cocktail, but I need you all to be so for real with yourselves about how shooting a bridge full of protestors is also an extreme retaliation and sit with why blaming Silco or Vander, and them blaming eachother/themselves, is wrong. Why feeling guilty and personal responsibility for a violent system comfortable with executing civilians in the street cant really rest on either of their shoulders. And that blaming Slco for their deaths is very centrist lib of you and I won’t stand for it.

amazed at the number of people who say aftg has no plot or tsc has no plot like idk maybe yall are used to plot driven genres like fantasy or mystery where the plot line is at the forefront & the force driving the characters actions rather than vice versa but these books still definitely have plots. the ravens trying to get neil to sign is plot. the foxes training to win championships is plot. Andrew and Neil's romance is plot. the entire thing with the butcher & his posse – plot. Jean joining a new team and learning how to live and thrive and adjust to the world outside the cult he's been trapped in? plot. just because the story/narration is more character driven doesn't mean the plot isn't there.

I understand her saying she was in a bad place after Joe but I think her saying MH was manic phase was AFTER the fact that he ghosted her. Down Bad she states I was in love. I believe she truly was in love with him, not thinking she was. I am not a MH fan by no means but I truly believe she loved him. She couldn't even say the word over in her song. I know he ghosted her, but it was her CHOICE to be with him. No one forced her hand. She knew the type of person he was, but she chose him anyway. She could have said get lost. I respect her and whatever or whoever she chose to love.
Friend:
Tumblr media
In her own words, she did not truly love him. She was infatuated with him and was experiencing a severe mental health crisis over many things and convinced herself she was in love with him because it was the only way she could bring herself to burn the bridge for good with with her LTR.
yes, you’re right that she said it was a manic phase after he ghosted her. I don’t see that as controversial or in opposition to what you’ve stated. Because the thing about manic phases is that you often don’t realize you’re in them until you crash (and/or hit the depressive part of the cycle). When you’re in the manic part, everything feels heightened and logical in your own head and it’s not until you come down from it that you realize what it was. So the crash happened by her own admission after he ghosted her and the apex of the phase crumbled. And once that happened* and the dust settled she saw it for what it was, both in herself and in what he’d done. (E.g. that she was manic and that he’d been playing her.) That isn’t projection, that is in her own words in the poem and in her music.
so yes, she chose to be with him. I’m not denying that. She’s not denying that. She doesn’t need some internet stranger to defend her actions and I’m certainly not. But nothing exists in a vacuum and I don’t know how many times we can rehash this.
She chose to be with him knowing who he was, yes. Personally, I think he’s vile, and i wouldn’t go near the guy with a ten foot pole. But it’s not my life. And again: in her own words, he told her that he’d changed and would change and love bombed her into believing he was a new person. Is that naive? Yes, obviously. But I also am of the belief, again through Taylor’s own words, that she was deeply, deeply unwell and suffering from a host of emotional, physical and mental health struggles and wasn’t acting with the clearest of minds. I cannot underscore enough that TTPD is a study in the effects of grief and how it can cloud your mind and inform your actions and I don’t know any other way to explain it that doesn't cross lines but iykyk. If TTPD is to be believed, even within it the cracks were starting to form in the facade before he left her.
If you feel she was truly in love with him, then go ahead, because at this point I am not going to convince you otherwise and that’s fine, you’re allowed to interpret events through your own lens and make your own judgment calls. Just like you aren’t going to convince me that it was a grand love affair because personally I think it was an unfortunate confluence of timing and opportunity that coalesced into a total shit sandwich and I interpret her words and actions through an entirely different lens. I am not trying to be snarky or mean, I’m just saying that this isn’t going to be a fruitful discussion because we’re coming at this from a different set of beliefs and experiences.
(and if you’re talking about the “over” in down bad: she can’t bring herself to say it because she’s a) performing the song and b) using that for effect in the storytelling. She doesn’t say it because it is meant to cut directly into the next line. It’s songwriting.)
this is not a conversation I am interested in hosting on this blog so I will not be responding to this further.

As someone that loves ATLA and is recently getting back into the fandom and has also been spending alot of time in the One Piece fandom as off late
Luffy and Aang have a very similar energy that I enjoy. They are just both so precious oh my god 😭. They are so different but they have very similar narrative functions in how they inspire the people around them to embrace silliness and childlike joy.
But also I love the way they move their powers are fun and they love using them. They are constantly using it's ungrained in the way they move Aang loves airbending he's never not jumping around with it and Luffy loves being rubber
Which makes their differences all the more exciting and seeing how that same scale of personality
they both deal with inherited will Aang more literally and directly that Luffy (as of yet) and they interact with that differently. Aang's inherited will is a weight on his shoulders a burden he has to bear while Luffy's is a pleasant surprise to those around, and the source of his desire for freedom. And this comes through in how they interact with the ultimate version of their powers the literal embodiment of these inherited wills. The avatar state and gear 5
The avatar state for Aang represents a destiny he is still to young to bear, it is unpredictable, overwhelming, uncontrollable, it is something to be feared and worried about, it represents a loss of control for him and he struggles to reconcile that kind of destructive power with himself and his values. It scares him, and That’s why it remains lost to him for much of the series till he makes it his own.
Meanwhile for Luffy Gear 5 represents freedom, he is literally being freed from the constraints of reality. It is the culmination of everything he’s ever been. It’s everything we love about luffy turned up to a 100. Gear 5 is silly, goofy, cartoonish, unserious, fun loving, filled with laughter, insanely power and lowkey a little scary. Even tho Luffy is technically transforming into another person (or god) but god it is still him it is everything that has ever embodied him. And Luffy loves to be in it he has so much because as he said it’s him at his freest.
Aang and Luffy have very different character philosophies, priorities and move through the world differently. Aang is very much concern about the people in the general sense while Luffy is very much focused on helping his friends which then spirals to helping the general population, it just so happens that he is very good at making friends
But at their core they are just both fun loving little boys refusing to let their tragedies define them as they and their rag tag group of walking disasters rove the world like criminals, freeing the people from oppression.

Maybe this is stupid but how do you handle liking Homelander but him being like Yknow a piece of crap and the whole r wording. Cuz I have some sort of stupid attraction to him but it makes me feel all sorts of guilty and gross and maybe that’s bc I already have mental issues and worry I’ll be punished or ridiculed or something bc of it and idk. It sounds really dumb but idk how to get out of the weird funk cycle bc I don’t like using the “it’s just fiction” either bc that doesn’t make me feel any better. Feel free to ignore this I’m just having a moment 😭
aw, darling. i'm saying this gently and kindly with my whole heart: introspection. me telling you why i'm okay with loving a fictional character isn't going to help you come to terms with the fact you do, especially since "it's just fiction" IS enough for me.
Homelander does not have victims. you cannot have Homelander arrested. no one you know or will ever know has been harmed by the text and images that combine to create this non-existent figment of our collective imaginations.
it sounds to me like your guilt/shame is primarily coming from your fear of judgement. that's not surprising given how heavily influenced fandom has become by puritan ideology. people ARE extremely cruel to one another these days for their preferences in media. you have to make the choice to break away from that. connect with people you feel safe around. no one is morally superior for their preference in fiction.
and also like... i'm not comfortable with EVERYONE in my life knowing how much i like Homelander. i absolutely have friends i would be embarrassed to try and explain it to. but i don't have to! it's not their business, it's mine.
having empathy for a fictional (and very tragic!) character does not make you a bad person any more than enjoying horror movies or violent video games would. please don't let anyone convince you that it does.
