while starscream and shockwave won’t be showing up in the story, I still really wanted to design how they’d look in this universe…they will definitely be getting a cameo I will crowbar them into the background of some scenes for sure

it’s not important to the story but the universe of DON’T DO THIS DAD has some lore!! the autobots and decepticons command mechanical sister cities in a bitter war for resources. the whole vibe of the place is salvagepunk sci-fi and energon is the main thing they’re fighting over to keep their respective cities alive.

the thing about Jason. Is that even if he’d survived Ethiopia. Even if he’d never even gone to Ethiopia. He would’ve stayed himself - in the sense that the disagreement between Batman and Red Hood began long before Ethiopia. I think the thing about Jason is that the death, the revival, none of it mattered much; that he was a sweet kid, that he was an angry kid, all of that didn’t matter because something in Jason directly opposes something else in Bruce. It’s easy to pin point Jason’s death as the cause of why “everything went wrong” between them, but that’s not really the truth.

I’ll see the most surface level conversations about the plot and characters and I’m like damn nobody’s really doing it like Tumblr or are they? You guys can just watch a show and you don’t have to delve neck deep into the meta, you just watched the show enjoy it and go on with your life? Crazy.

alright, i just got around to finishing Dungeon Meshi- and damn if it didn't stick the landing!

there's a lot to recommend in this manga. first- it's extraordinarily fucking funny. it does not forget that it's a comic, and consistently has great visual gags even when something deeply fucked up and serious is happening.

and it fires on all other cylinders, too- the character designs are great, the worldbuilding is intricate and believable and does a lot of interesting things with standard fantasy tropes, the main cast is likable and has a great dynamic, the story keeps a lot of plates spinning without getting up its own ass or forgetting the details...

but the thing that really impresses me about Dungeon Meshi- the thing that sticks out as something it does uniquely well- is the theming.

Dungeon Meshi is about hunger and eating. it is about those things, hardcore. just about every plot point and every character dynamic is about that theme, approached from a dazzling array of different angles. it's got plenty to say about like, actual food and cooking, sure- but it also gets into the nature of desire, the cycle of predation, differing personal tastes, taking the other into oneself, satiation vs motivation... it makes sure that every development in the story is grounded in and building on that theme somehow.

Food is not a gimmick- Food is what the story is about, and not as a bit. this isn't a silly food-world full of food-creatures and food-magic- this is a normal, well-developed fantasy setting, in which a story is being told that focuses relentlessly on the relationship of the characters to food and eating. it manages to feel completely natural, even with so much going on that you'd think the food thing would get in the way. it doesn't get in the way. the story was designed around it, down to the smallest detail.

i think it might be a 10/10 manga! it does everything it sets out to do, completely successfully, with a ton of humor and charm. well-paced, well-drawn, well-written, good ending- i can't think of anything to complain about. highly recommended.

I drew this at the small edge of my page knowing very well that it would lead to cutoffs and overlap with other sketches because I really do feel more comfortable doing certain positions like this. It just makes it hard to get a snap of them with a "complete" feel.

In a majority of my previous works focusing on Juno's eyes, they were slightly relaxed, as he had just woken up while also going along with his typical calmness. But I've also tried (and failed many times) to see how they would look when they're totally open-- this is excluding the shots where he is straight-up trying to kill someone. :)

In this context, Juno is activated but not totally working if that makes sense? As you may kinda make it out, he isn't upright, so his whole body isn't there either. I was going for something "still, blank, empty".

I've been thinking about this fic idea a lot and I will write it but now I need to vent it out in the world bc it distracts me from the other fic I'm currently writing so here I am

so!! in the wake of wwx's death and lwj's punishment lxc finds something — maybe a ritual, maybe an array, maybe smth else — that can transport him to a certain point in the past. he takes a look at a-yuan, he takes a look at lwj and decides to do it. surely, it can't be difficult to save one man from his death?

but those at the top don't know how dark it is at the bottom. those who fly high don't know how it will hurt when they fall

lxc will try time and time again — just to save wwx. he will continue to come back time after time after time; but wwx just dies and dies and dies — and lxc is tired

he can't save wwx without saving the wens; wwx will die. he can't save the wens without saving wwx; the wens will die

(lxc doesn't want to remember, but knows: without a-yuan in this world, there is also no lwj)

it all ends like this: lxc holds the corpse of his brother who was killed by lxc's own hands and makes a decision — no more

so he starts again. he drifts like the cloud, allows ppl to live and die as they were destined to from the start. lwj bears the scars of their failures for them both; not that he knows this. a-yuan grows up, healthy and happy, and lwj learns to be happy anew, in the new world where even his shadow is drenched in his mourning. but he is alive — and looking at him, content, breathing and alive — lxc can't even remember why he decided to do this at all. what did he see in wangji that time, that made him so sure that he would lose him? he doesn't know anymore

nmj dies and lxc contemplates: maybe just this once. but — he looks at lwj — and decides not to

it's not his right and not his place (and he is so tired; he knows how this will end)

i think jason's probable death in gotham wars is going to either be a non-continuity death (like dick's deaths) or a "death" (like tim's deaths) in which he is not really dead, just like, in stasis or smh
