I don't know I just think Chuuya and Atsushi would be so cute!!! I've said it before but I'm under the belief/headcanon that Chuuya is actually a really chill guy that simply happens to work in the mafia, he's my favorite PM character because he just seems so reasonable. Obviously a number of the other members have fleshed out backgrounds and personalities, but I personally feel like a lot of them still boil down to them being bad guys. Yes Akutagawa has his reasons and tragic backstory, yes Mori has a background not necessarily rooted in evil, but at the end of the day they're both antagonists and I don't feel like that's a crazy take to have. But Chuuya has never felt like a villain to me LMAO I'm probably interpreting his character so wrong but to me he always seemed like a cool guy that works in the mafia. He's not evil it's just where he works. Like you don't have to be a golfer to work at TopGolf it's just the situation you have been placed in. Chuuya "don't kill kids" Nakahara. He knows when things go too far, he still recognizes and respects the border between work violence and senseless violence. Has a strong moral compass that points at perfectly valid ideals I feel.

Anyway this was literally supposed to be a Chuuatsu post what. In turn, Atsushi is one of the most normal people at the agency, at least in some aspects. Call it sheltered innocence even. But I think he can easily see past Chuuya's port mafia executive status, I feel like I can see whatever the hell I think I'm seeing in him. And Atsushi really likes that about him. That he can bump into Chuuya outside of work and he's simply. a pretty chill guy. Has a bit of a temper, but whatever buttons cause it to flare, Atsushi hasn't managed to hit one yet.

And Chuuya's all "When they put that 7 billion yen bounty for a man-eating tiger, I thought it'd be some intimidating feral creature, but I just watched you cross the street and look both ways the entire walk across. You're just a nice kid."

They like find a reprieve in one another. Everyone around them seems crazy but they can step aside and know that at least there's SOMEONE in this city not out of their damn mind.

the house was quiet when chuuya returned home. he’d expected as much, having checked higuchi’s schedule earlier to see she’d be coming home hours before him. no doubt she’d gone to bed by now.

carefully putting his coat away, chuuya slipped his shoes off and padded silently through the halls. he’d take a quick shower and join higuchi to sleep, probably. maybe get a snack first, but he was tired and wished nothing more than to spend some soft, quiet time with his girlfriend.

he took a detour to the kitchen, scanning the fridge for anything. when he found nothing that peaked his interest, he closed it again. flicking the light on, prepared to rummage the cabinets, his eyes caught on a plate he hadn’t notice in the dark. it seemed like higuchi had made it earlier, had left it there for chuuya to eat. and it was his, because he saw another mostly empty plate beside it that was undoubtedly higuchi’s.

smiling to himself, chuuya scooped the plate up and retrieved a fork. he started towards the living room, intending to eat there, but stopped when he found higuchi draped over the couch, fast asleep.

he gazed at her for a moment, before having to put his plate down and just. stop. because oh, had she been waiting for him all this time? they hadn’t even been living together for too long, but she still—

chuuya wandered over, bending down to press a featherlight kiss to her forehead. she shifted, and he drew back, freezing. before he could hope she was still asleep, she blinked sleepily, squinting in the dark. she turned towards him, and he stood there caught, grinning sheepishly.

“…chuuya-san?” she murmured, pushing her bangs back as she struggled up.

“it’s chuuya,” he corrected softly, gently guiding her back down. “go back to sleep, ichiyou.”

“mm, you’re home,” she said, a touch defensively, trying to clear her vision. she gazed up at him unseeing for a moment, her hands finding his gloved ones, before she smiled. “i made food for you, did you see it?”

“i did. started eating it ‘fore i noticed you,” chuuya reassured her. he floated a blanket over, tucking it around her.

“hm?” she hummed, glancing down at the blanket, then up at him.

“sleep, darlin’,” he said, patting her messy hair. the bun had fallen out, and he fished the hair tie from in between the couch cushions, using his ability to place it more safely onto the counter.

higuchi struggled for a moment, but was ultimately too tired to argue and slumped back down, still holding one of his hands in hers. she kissed his fingers lazily, then looked back up at him. “i should go to bed.”

he smiled. “i’ll bring you there. i’ll join ya after i shower, ‘kay?”

“i can walk,” she told him. but her eyes were already closing.

“sure, love,” he agreed, unable to help how his smile grew. a red glow surrounded her as he brought her carefully to the bedroom. he laid her down comfortably on the bed and adjusted the covers over her, making sure she was fit snuggly in before he stepped back. she was fast asleep, curled into the blankets, and it was fucking adorable.

he returned to the kitchen, eating a bit of the food she’d made (it was wonderful), then put the plate in the fridge to finish tomorrow. he showered quickly, dressing as quietly as he could before slipping into the bed, very ready to fall asleep.

higuchi had turned over at one point, so when chuuya climbed in, she was facing him, expression slack with sleep. he pulled the blankets higher up on himself, tugging them over her in the process. she mumbled something incoherent and scooted closer to him. he nearly died inside, when her arm came around to wrap around him.

“i love you,” he whispered, feeling an overwhelming need to tell her suddenly. he cuddled into her, bringing her right up to him so he could engulf her in an embrace. his eyes closed, and he steadied his breathing, feeling himself relax as he did so. as he fell asleep, a smile slipped onto his lips, pressed against the crook of higuchi’s neck.
