"what if Chuuya joined the Armed Detective Agency with Dazai?"
My version of an AU where Chuuya left the mafia "with" Dazai and joined the ADA "with" Dazai and Taneda thinks he's hilarious (he's right)

I think another reason why I don’t like or trust Natsume is highkey lowkey because Fukuzawa did not agree to the whole Tripartide Plan beforehand. He didnt agree to becoming the opposite to the Mafia, something that could’ve been fatal for them both, Natsume decided that for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
God knows how Mori met Natsume or why he decided that a murderous underground doctor with that ability was the perfect person to overthrow the notoriously dangerous Mafia but it wasn’t Mori’s plan.
Fukuzawa and Ranpo had their detective thing before they met Natsume and it was him that directed Fukuzawa to Mori. I’m of the opinion that Fukuzawa didn’t know that Natsume and Mori were planning for the latter to because the PM head until later on when Yosano comes into the picture when Mori’s already a member of the mafia.
In the chapter/flashback above he’s a quack doctor, 4 years after the Great War ends he’s officially in the Mafia, the ADA is official and Fukuzawa knows about the Tripartide, but he fiercely opposes the immortal regiment idea.
Tumblr media
Sidenote: Somebody told Fukuzawa about Yosano’s whereabouts and what Mori was going to do with her. It was Mori who got her out of the room, it was Fukuzawa and Ranpo who intercepted them on the roof. Might’ve been Fukuchi, but that’s not been revealed and now he’s dead. My money’s on Taneda
Can you fucking imagine going to someone for a permission slip to run your detective business and the dude up and decides that you and your sixteen year old are the *perfect* people to oppose the Mafia in quasi-alignment with the government (who you previously killed for???)?????
Its likely that Natsume sent Fukuzawa to Mori bc he wanted the future ADA president and the future PM boss to have some idea of each other’s bloodlusts, strengths, personalities, convictions. But that makes him even shadier because its clear he knows Fukuzawa’s assassin past and whatever’s up with Mori. Also, why? Why make them go through the fake kidnapping thing together? Unless he was trying to forge some bond that would make it hard for them to go at each other’s throats in the future, eg: when Fukuzawa learns what Mori plans to use Yosano for. Because a diamond polishes a diamond.
The whole Tripartite Plan makes it so that the ADA, the government and the PM are in a permanent standstill because none of them can kill the other for fear of what would come next and Natsume executed it perfectly and shoved it onto Mori and Fukuzawa, the latter of whom this came straight out of left-wing and hit him like a freight train

BSD Gender & Orientation HCs pt4
~if a character/commentary is not included I’m just assuming they’re cis/straight~
----------Supernatural Ability Special Investigation Division------------
Ayatsuji:
Orientation: |Aro/Ace| doesn’t experience attraction of that kind but is a relentless flirt and has a surprisingly dirty mind, aspects he tends to play up to amuse himself at his coworkers’ expense or for a job.
*orientation aside, the nature of his ability and how it has placed him in the world, combined with his towering intellect makes it extremely difficult for him to form connections. Secretly, he does crave companionship and behind his neutral expression is fighting tooth and nail to maintain his mental barriers. He doesn’t have friends but those who have come close make him desperate to smother the treacherous fondness that threatens to pull a smile across his face.
*unrelated but he’s touch starved af and short circuits when somebody so much as brushes against him. unReasonably, for this reason he hates physical contact.
Taneda:
Orientation: |Straight(?)| chill supportive guy. While he isn’t queer, accumulatively he has enough anecdotal stories/comments to at least prompt a raised eyebrow.
------------------The Hunting Dogs-----------------
Jouno:
Orientation: |Gay|
Tetchou:
Orientation: |Bi|
Fukuchi:
Orientation: |Gay| so, very, very gay.
------------------Decay of the Angel--------------------
Sigma:
Orientation: |Aro/Ace|
Gender: |Nonbinary-unrealized| they started to realize while running the casino but will eventually figure it out when/if they get out of the Decay of the Angles.
*Nikolai is lowkey an inspiration for their realization.
Nikolia:
Gender: |Bigender| uses masculine pronouns but finds feminine ones fitting/complementary and encourages their use as well. She likes to cross-dress and will incorporate feminine clothing/makeup into her outfits.
*he has a corset under his vest/blouse, among other things.
Orientation: |Pan| unapologetically finds everybody hot.
Bram:
Orientation: |Pan| has a long list of past lovers, he only ever took one life partner though.
----------------Rats in the House of the Dead--------------
Ivan:
Orientation: |Queer| seemingly gets attracted to people at random but it is difficult to tell if it is love or just obsession.
Mushitarou:
Orientation: |Gay| deeply, deeply closeted to himself, everybody else had clocked him from a mile away.
*he deals with A LOT of self-hate/internalized homophobia, that unfortunately sometimes gets expressed externally. It’s a constant cycle of confident disinterest (panicked interest), self-denial that eventually leads to fed up self-indulgence, crushing guilt and frustration, and a vow to never do that again; repeat for exponentially worse results.

Why I don't like these two images :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let me explain :
Chapter 58 is one of my favorites because Taneda's "murder" scene is one of the moments in the manga that I enjoy the most
And I hate how it's going to be staged in the anime
I'm only basing my opinion on two images, and maybe the day I'll see the episode I won't be disappointed, but for now I want to talk about the gaps between the anime and the manga.
///
So to begin with I hate the fact that in the anime they decided to add a chair.
That leaves us with two possible events :
> Taneda has just been stabbed by Sigma, and decides to sit on a chair afterwards. Ranpo comes
> Taneda is stabbed, Ranpo comes and decides to put Taneda on a chair
And this chair, according to me, destroys the whole angsty aspect of this scene.
Indeed in the manga, the first image we see is this :
Tumblr media
A hand trying in vain to reach the door.
Taneda lies on the ground, completely bloody, and tries to move as he can with the little strength he has.
Tumblr media
He is reduced to a maggot.
This was meant to show how cruel Sigma's act was.
No there is no chair to gently welcome Taneda, the only support Taneda could get was Ranpo and the wall.
Tumblr media
Otherwise he would have died alone on the floor (like a shit)
In the manga, in order for Taneda to speak properly to Ranpo, he had to slide on the floor to lean his back against the wall, he's slumped, tired.
Tumblr media
And here dying 😃
So yes, the fact that he fell from the chair gives a dramatic side, but why would an empty chair be planted in the middle of the room ?
The discussion between Sigma and Taneda was done standing up, as equals, at no point did Taneda sit down to talk to Sigma.
Tumblr media
When Taneda was on the floor, in pain, Sigma's first action was to look at the camera without regard for the man underneath him.
Tumblr media
Sigma wanted to kill the man, he failed, but it was still an act done in cold blood.
This scene was meant to show how much Sigma is willing to break the law in order to protect his casino, to show how ruthless he can be in a desperate situation.
///
Now let's talk about the second image :
Tumblr media
So yes, when I first saw the image I thought it was beautiful, the symbolism behind it is wonderful, but in the meantime it makes no sense.
Who drew on the wall with blood ?
It couldn't have been there before the meeting, there's no way Taneda would decide to have a meeting in a room where a murder happened.
So you're telling me that Sigma deliberately took Taneda's blood and drew on the wall?
Yeah, it's a good imagery, but there's no way Sigma would do that.
1) he doesn't have the time
2) he's not a proud criminal.
The act of stabbing Taneda was not done for fun, it was done out of pure desperation. Sigma does not brag about his failed murder.
So yes it could be painting, but I would find it even more ridiculous.
Now the meaning of the illustration :
Here Ranpo gives the impression of being a saint, a saviour who came to help Taneda.
Eyes are hidden in the wings, reminding us of his ability to be almost omniscient thanks to his super intelligence.
He gives the feeling that he is "hope", which in fact is the case.
But in the manga, Ranpo was not calm and composed, he seemed distraught.
I counted the number of times his eyes opened : 9 times
In the manga, the one who was shining was Taneda, not Ranpo.
It's Taneda who has all the information about the Book and who kindly told Ranpo to shut the fuck up while Ranpo's first instinct was to call for help.
Tumblr media
Taneda was ready to die right here, in order to give Ranpo all the necessary information.
Ranpo was not omniscient at that moment, he is an adult who just saw an authority figure close to Fukuzawa at death's door.
This scene was supposed to show the urgency of the situation, Ranpo's panic and Sigma's coldness (who also panics internally)
And if Taneda hadn't saved his strength to stay conscious, the rest of the manga could have been different.
It was Taneda's moment, which shows the impact and the importance that this man have (thanks to his ability, which I recall allows him to know the nature of an ability if it is activated near him)
///
I just needed to express my dissatisfaction ^^
I understand that in the anime they won't take 10 minutes to animate this scene, and that to mark the spirits they drew a cross on the wall and the wings + Taneda falling from his chair.
In the meantime I would have preferred something simpler, faithful to the manga.
Taneda laying of the floor half dead, and Ranpo worried.
Mostly what I like about the manga is that Taneda smiles in this situation, and I strongly hope they will do it in the anime otherwise I'll be severely disappointed 😁
That's it, that's the post ^^

I had this idea ever since I decided to make a twitter au—
I made more about this, can you tell I really like this idea ʕ •́؈•̀ ₎
Taneda (and the rest of the Special Division tbh) are underrated, so I figured I give him some spotlight here :D

LORE LORE WORLDBUILDING!
This is the type of stuff i Love reading in any fiction, the power struggles, and arguably the one between the Ministry of Justice and the Special Abilities Division is Just As Important as the one between the Agency and the Port Mafia. One can’t exist without the other, they’re in a constant loop. One for ungifted, the other for ability-users. They both use corruption to get what they want: for normal and for gifted people
Its all in the background yes, but you can even argue that the Special Abilities Division was created in response to the war and post-war paranoia presented from normal to gifted people. In Untold Origins the existence of Gifted People is kept hush-hush, one of the first chapters of BSd says that as a gifted, Atsushi would’ve struggled to find a job.
