Eddie ran his fingers through his damp hair and gave his head a light shake, ridding the last few droplets of water from the shower. He could feel the steam clinging to his damp frame and making his work gear stick to him like a second skin.
He could feel a headache forming.
He didn't want to go to work. Eddie wasn't sure he had the energy to go to work on a double shift. He had about as much energy and willpower to get him from the bathroom to the bedroom, but he knew he had to get moving.
If he didn't want to be late to work, Eddie had to get a move on and say goodbye to his family and head down to the station in time for the shift change over.
With his hand still tangled into his damp locks, Eddie headed out of the bathroom that felt more like a sauna once he walked into the hallway.
It might of been a good idea for Eddie to take a nap this afternoon before the kids came home from school, but he had decided against it. Going for a nap during the day always made Eddie feel worse when he woke up. He found it easier to power through and go to sleep the next available night, no matter how many hours that meant he had to stay awake for.
Now it was almost tea time and he was going on shift and wouldn't be home until late tomorrow night.
"Chris, buddy I'm heading to work now." He pushed open the bedroom door and leaned against the frame, a soft smile pulling at his lips when he looked across at his boy.
Chris was laid out on the rug in front of his bed, legs kicking in the air behind him and pens scattered across the floor. He had a cake colouring book in front of him, a red pen tucked behind his ear and a deep plum pen twirling between his fingers. And his tv was on rather loud in the background playing a wide selection of music.
He lifted his head to look up at Eddie, as if only just realising his dad was in the doorway. He looked Eddie up and down, taking in his appearance and realising that he was dressed for work.
"I'm going now, I'll see you tomorrow after tea, okay?"
He dropped the pen in his hand and scratched the one from behind his ear so he could push up from the rug. His arms stretched out in front of him and he deadlocked them around Eddie's waist, burying his face in his dad's chest while Eddie leaned down to kiss the top of his curls.
"Love you."
"Love you too, be good for me." Eddie pressed a few more kisses against Chris's head before he unwound his arms and watched his boy flop back down to continue colouring.
He left the door ajar and turned round, but before he had the chance to try and head into the girl's room, Daisy already beat him to it. The four year old barrelled into his legs before he could move in any direction. Her arms bound around his legs and she tilted her head as far back as she could so she was grinning up at him with such a soft smile that it made his heart melt.
"You leaving, daddy?"
His eyes creased with a wide smile and he reached down to scoop her up into his arms, cuddling her into his chest.
"Yeah, flower, I gotta go to work. I'll be home tomorrow." He pressed a sloppy kiss to her cheek, grinning when she wriggled and squirmed in his arms and turned to kiss his cheek in return. "Be a good girl, hm? Love you." He knew he didn't have to tell any of the kids to be good, but he always did out of habit.
He set Daisy back down to her feet and shook his head when he heard her mumble "Love you more." She liked to think Eddie didn't hear her when she said that so she could have the last word, but he always heard her.
"Love you most." He watched her scuttle down the hall, presumably going to the living room so she could watch tv before dinner.
His eyes focused on the hem of his shirt which he tucked into his trousers while he headed into his and (Y/n)'s room. He could hear her humming and he already knew Rosie would be in there with her. He made his way into the room and a smirk flooded his lips when his eyes locked on his wife. He could see from her attire and her damp hair that she had just had a shower too; the light was on in the en-suite, confirming his thoughts.
(Y/n) was wearing one of Eddie's plain cotton shirts and a pair of his boxers that were glued rather shapely around her bum. And his shirt hung off her left shoulder as if giving him a sneak preview of what he was missing out on. But it was the way his shirt was bunched up over her hip and partly tucked into the boxers that made it hard to stay in control. He wanted to go over there and rip it over her head and drag the boxers down to her ankles.
He was suddenly glad he wasn't wearing his boots so he could make a quiet descent over towards (Y/n). As soon as he reached her, Eddie bound his arms tight around her waist and pulled her back into his chest. His lips attached to the side of her neck and he chuckled into her skin when she gasped and stumbled onto her back foot.
Her hands deadlocked around his wrists and her head flopped back on his shoulder. He could feel the deep breaths she took to try and calm down the panic he had rushed through her system.
"Eddie!" (Y/n) scolded quietly, slapping his wrist. He was lucky she hadn't been daydreaming or she might have screamed when he grabbed her. He was always doing his best to sneak up on her and he had gotten Chris into the same habit too.
The feeling of him breathing harshly and sucking at her neck had her knees going weak but when she looked at the watch strapped on his wrist, she knew he was going to be late if he stayed.
"I take it you're leaving now?" She turned her head to look at him but he caught her lips in a kiss instead, and she could feel his hands slip beneath her shirt. His fingertips traced over the curve of her hips causing her to shiver and she felt his fingers trace lower and dip past the waistband of his boxers she was wearing.
His shift was going to feel like a week instead of a day with (Y/n)'s image burned into his mind like this.
"Wish I wasn't." He muttered into her neck, trying his best to sink his teeth into her skin and leave a mark.
His hands squeezed her hips and he pulled back enough so that (Y/n) could turn around in his arms so she was facing him. A tender smile lit up her face and had Eddie's knees going weak and he leaned forward, diminishing the gap between them so their chests were glued together.
"Me too," Sincerity flooded her voice while she cupped Eddie's face in her hands and pecked his lips again before she tried to wriggle out of his arms so he could get ready.
It didn't work. His hands slipped lower into the boxers she wore until both hands had a grip on her bum and he stepped closer, pressing every ridge of his body against hers. When he dug his fingers into her flesh, (Y/n) rolled her lips together and pressed her nose against his cheek.
Maybe she should walk him to the door to make sure he actually left. It wouldn't do him any favours to be late to work when he had a clean track record so far.
Her lips parted into a gasp when she felt Eddie try his luck to walk her backwards towards the bed.
"If you wake her, you deal with the tantrum." (Y/n) warned with an arched brow, talking in hushed tones against his cheek before she dipped her head towards the bed.
Rosie was having a nap.
The toddler had finally settled and (Y/n) wanted to let her sleep for a bit longer before she had to wake her up for her tea. But if Eddie was going to wake her, he could take the time to settle her back down if she started to cry or get grumpy. She hadn't settled for a nap earlier at lunch so this was her first nap of the day which she desperately needed.
The one year old had been fussy all day, but she had finally managed to settle and had fallen asleep in the middle of (Y/n) and Eddie's bed. She was laid across both pillows with a teddy tucked up against her chest and a blue pacifier between her lips. And (Y/n) wasn't going to let Eddie wake her accidentally and cause (Y/n) another hour of pacing the house and rocking to try and settle her again.
Plus, if Rosie was asleep when Eddie left for work, it would cause less stress. The toddler hated it when Eddie had to leave. She would cry when he kissed her goodbye and she would reach out for him and try to follow him when he went out the door. Whereas if she woke up after he had gone, she didn't panic or get as upset.
(Y/n) cupped Eddie's face in her hands when he pulled away from her neck so he could look across at the bed. A fond smile pulled at his lips and his eyes softened when he looked at his youngest girl.
"I won't wake her." He promised against her lips before he leaned forward and stole another kiss. His tongue pushed past her lips and he leaned into the kiss until (Y/n) was tilting back at an angle. "Dios, I'd rather stay here."
"And I want you to stay, but you can't. I don't like being alone at night." (Y/n) curved her arms tighter around Eddie's neck and pushed forward so she could tuck her face against his skin.
She felt his hands give her a squeeze and he pulled her closer and attached his lips to the side of her head. He began to hum softly against her head and started to sway from side to side which made (Y/n) grin into his neck.
"I know mi amor." Eddie didn't like working nights. Not only did it screw with his body clock and mess with his sleep, it made (Y/n) nervous.
He knew she hated to be home alone. (Y/n) was naturally anxious and being home alone spiked that worry, she didn't feel safe unless someone was with her. And Eddie hated working nights because he knew (Y/n) had battled often enough with insomnia. It didn't help her panic either to be left home alone with three kids.
Insomnia heightened every sound outside. The branches tapping and rustling became intruders getting closer to the house. The wind sounded like someone whistling. The gate creaking sounded like someone coming up the drive and banging pipes in the dark sounded like someone breaking in.
"You'd better go, sweetheart." (Y/n) pecked his cheek and her eyes widened when Eddie actually unravelled himself from her. Was he actually going to walk out the door without a fuss?
Her heart softened and her lips rolled together to supress her smile when she watched Eddie move over to the bed. He planted one hand down on the cover so he could lean over Rosie and peck her temple.
"Bye baby girl."
He straightened up after running his fingers through her thin strokes of hair and headed back over to (Y/n).
"If you need me just call, I should be able to answer." He couldn't always answer the phone, but he tried his best. He would rather (Y/n) call him if something was wrong or she didn't feel great, then if Eddie didn't answer he knew to ring her as soon as he could.
(Y/n) tried to untangle herself from him again when he reached out for her because she knew he needed to leave so he wouldn't be late to the station.
But a gasp tumbled past (Y/n)'s lips when Eddie's hand reached up for the collar of her shirt that was halfway down her shoulder. With it being Eddie's shirt and two sizes too big for her, the collar was looser and easier to move. It let Eddie hook a finger into the collar and drag it further down her arm, exposing her bare chest to his prying eyes.
(Y/n) tilted her chest back just as Eddie's lips attached to her cleavage. Both her hands moved to his shoulders and she gave him a strong push until he had to reel back up and disconnect from her chest. She dragged the shirt back up her shoulder, hiding the view he had given himself which made him groan.
"Go to work before you wake the baby." Even though Rosie was one and a half now, they were inclined to calling her the baby because she was their youngest.
She gave him a gentle nudge until he was walking backwards out the room, his arms back around her waist with his elbows digging into her hips. Her hands reached up to rub across his chest and she continued to nudge him backwards while he stole kiss after kiss from her lips like it was the last time he was going to see her and he was getting his money's worth.
Eddie moved one arm behind him to unlock the front door and grab his keys from the lock. When the door opened, he begrudgingly let (Y/n) push him back until he was over the threshold like a lovesick puppy waiting outside for her.
His lips curved into a deadly smirk that flashed his teeth when (Y/n) cupped his face in her hands and tugged him down to press a feverish kiss to his lips. She let him swipe his tongue across her lower lip, begging for entrance before she pulled back, mumbling a quiet 'I love you' and 'goodbye' against his lips before giving him a final nudge out the door.
He needed to go to work and she needed to get the kid's tea ready.
***
Reaching her hand across the bed, (Y/n) feathered her fingers over the cover and up towards the pillow.
Cold. Empty.
Of course it was empty; Eddie was at work tonight. He wouldn't be back until tomorrow night, probably after the kids were all in bed by the time he finished his shift and got showered at the station before leaving.
(Y/n) didn't like the nights where Eddie worked during the night, she didn't like an empty bed. She liked to hear Eddie's soft breathing that worked as background noise to get her to sleep. She liked to feel the cover being stolen and tangled around his legs as he twisted from left to right. Or the feeling of an arm draping over her waist or a nose tickling her neck and tucking into her shoulder. All of that compared drastically to being curled up, alone in the bed.
She tucked her face down into the pillow and shuffled into the middle of the bed. It was entirely strange to have the bed to herself, without Eddie or at least one of the kids sneaking in to lay with her.
Sleep pulled at her mind as she curled up on herself, wishing the night away. (Y/n) was tired enough that it shouldn't be a problem falling asleep tonight like previous nights where she laid awake.
(Y/n) could feel her head slowly spinning and twisting from left to right in that usual manner that signalled she was going to fall asleep at any moment.
Until something shattered.
Her body jolted upright in bed and her hands scrunched up in the bedsheets. A shiver tore down (Y/n)'s spine as she tried to blink through the darkness, forcing her brain to clear from the fog rolling in and set her ears to work.
What smashed? Was it just (Y/n) imagining things? Once or twice she thought she heard something as she drifted to sleep, but Eddie had never heard it so she always presumed it was a dream about to start that woke her up.
But she knew she heard something this time. Had Chris or Daisy gotten up for a drink and dropped a glass or knocked into something? Perhaps something had happened at work and Eddie was coming home early for some reason. That didn't seem liable. Eddie hadn't been gone more than seven hours, and if he was coming home he would of called (Y/n) first.
Another rumble of glass breaking caused (Y/n) to cringe and coil her legs up to her stomach. Whatever it was, it didn't sound good.
Her legs turned to jelly as she swung them over the side of the bed and slowly got out of bed. She switched on the lamp and coiled her arms to her chest, forcing herself to take steady breaths as she tiptoed to the bedroom door.
It took a lot of willpower for (Y/n) to try and open the door as slowly as possible so it didn't creak or make a sound. She put one foot into the hall and tried to peer round. It was too dark to see anything and (Y/n) gulped, holding her breath as she inched a few paces down the hall, staying as close to the wall as she could.
"Oh no."
The window beside the front door was smashed. Glass littered the hallway. One of the picture frames on the side table had been knocked to the floor. And the street light outside illuminated the front door enough for (Y/n) to see a large stocky frame at the door.
Someone was trying to break in.
Why now? Why tonight of all nights, when Eddie was out at work and (Y/n) was home alone with the kids?
Why their house? What was so special about their home that someone thought they should try their luck breaking in at midnight?
(Y/n) could feel sweat coating her palms as she pressed them against the wall and tried to keep her front flush against the wall to blend in with the dark night shadows. Her knees quivered and threatened to give way as she shuffled along the corridor, afraid to take big steps in case a floorboard creaked and gave away that someone was awake in the house.
Her hand shook as she slowly twisted the handle on Chris's door and she stumbled into his room, gliding across the carpet until she could plonk herself down on the side of his bed.
"Chris? Baby, baby wake up." Her voice was higher in tone than usual but as quiet as she could be without croaking or going silent.
The ten year old gasped, jolting his head forward and reaching a hand out to grab (Y/n)'s arm in shock. The pitch black of the room gave away that it was still night time. He wasn't waking up late for school, it didn't feel like he had even been in bed for that long so he wasn't sure why his mum was vigorously shaking him to wake him up.
"Mum?"
"Shh, baby I know it's late but I need you to get up and go into my room. Now."
"Why?"
Chris sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand. What was going on? Was someone sick? Did they have to go somewhere in the middle of the night? The only time something like this had happened was when (Y/n) went into early labour with Rosie during the night. Chris had been abruptly woken up by his dad and told to get his shoes on and get in the car to go and stay with Buck. This wasn't remotely the same as that.
He went to reach out for his glasses on the side table, but he gasped when his mum reached forward and held him beneath his arms. She got up off the bed and lifted him with her to get him on his feet.
He heard her whisper "Emergency," as she kissed the top of his head and ushered his sleepy, stumbling frame towards the open door.
Chris grabbed the doorframe, unable to see properly in the dark, especially without his glasses. But when he stepped into the hall, he couldn't help but look to the right when he heard something pound on the front door.
Tears welled up in his eyes before he understood what was happening and he let his mum usher him into her room. His arms bound around his chest and he stood near the end of the bed, shaking on the spot while he watched his mum scurry into the girls' bedroom.
"Daisy, Daisy, up sweetheart. Go to mummy's room quickly for me."
The four year old grumbled in discontent, but she didn't argue for some reason. She let (Y/n) lift her out of her bed with the Fireman Sam bedding and she cuddled her teddy to her chest as she swayed and stumbled towards the door. She seemed to believe she was going to sleep in bed with her mum tonight and didn't quabble.
(Y/n) watched Daisy pad across the hall before she leaned down into the cot and scooped Rosie up. She cuddled her youngest to her chest, smothering her lips against the top of Rosie's head to try and calm herself down and she rushed back into her room and shut the door.
"Mum?" Chris reached out to hold her arm, pushing into her side for comfort and security because he felt utterly terrified.
"Daisy off the bed. Everyone in the bathroom please."
"But I don't-"
"Now." (Y/n) hissed and nudged Daisy in front of her before her daughter had chance to tell her she didn't want nor need a bath. She'd had a bath before tea time and she had been in bed, since when did they get a bath in the middle of the night?
(Y/n) snatched her phone from the side table and ushered the pair of them into the small en-suite that adjoined her and Eddie's bedroom.
She went to turn the light on but stopped herself. The light automated the extractor fan. Whoever was trying to break in would be able to hear it when the house was this quiet and (Y/n) had no idea if it was just one person trying to burgle them or not. There could be someone outside who would notice if she turned the light on.
She opted instead to turn on the small LED light over the bathroom mirror, it wasn't much but it was enough.
Once Chris and Daisy were inside, (Y/n) quietly pushed the door shut and turned the lock. Her eyes scanned around the small space. Nowhere to hide, no advantage points.
"Okay…" (Y/n) could feel her body shaking as she carefully knelt down on the floor next to the kids and eased Rosie down onto the bathmat. The toddler was starting to stir. "In the bath for me."
"I don't want one." Daisy's voice was meek and she rubbed her eyes again. The darkness was making her want to fall back asleep but once a loud bang rickoted through the house, the little girl gasped and jumped against Chris. Both of them watched (Y/n) shudder and jolt against them.
The front door had swung open and hit the wall. That meant whoever it was had now gotten inside the house.
"We're not getting a bath, baby, just sitting in the tub until it's safe."
"Who's at the door?" Daisy's voice held no power or tone and she spoke in a whisper like she subconsciously understood the situation.
"I don't know."
Chris on the other hand, didn't say anything. He understood immediately and he knew they were in a bad situation. He scrambled to turn around and slowly climb over the side of the tub. He didn't like sitting in an empty bath, it was cold and it echoed badly, but he did as he was told. He opened his arms so that when (Y/n) carefully picked Daisy up and sat her in the tub, his little sister could sit between his legs and cuddle up into him.
(Y/n) eased Rosie back up into her arms and settled her on her chest with her face nuzzled down beneath her collar bone. She tried to stop herself from trembling, desperate to keep Rosie asleep because if she cried she would giveaway their hiding place.
She got up from the floor and carefully climbed into the end of the tub and sat on the little ledge between the end of the tub and the wall. (Y/n) had to tense her muscles to stop her feet from jittering against the bottom of the tub and she pulled the shower curtain across to hide them all. Not that it would provide much safety or cover, but it was the best she could do.
Each breath (Y/n) tried to take was shallow and raspy and it made her go lightheaded. She felt her chest tingling and her stomach flooded with adrenaline to the point she felt like she was going to be sick or somehow explode.
She felt Chris and Daisy edge close until they were both leaning up against her legs for protection and comfort.
With Rosie curled up into her chest, (Y/n) tried to hold her as best she could with one arm so she could get her phone from her pocket and dial Eddie's number.
Please pick up. Please answer me!
Eddie seemed like a safer bet than calling 911. She wanted Eddie to come home and help them. She needed him to know what was going on. (Y/n) didn't want the headache of whispering and probably crying to a dispatcher. Trying to tell them her name and address and how many people were in the house was going to be much harder than simply calling Eddie for assistance.
"Amor? It's late, is everything okay?" Eddie's voice was like music to (Y/n)'s ears and she felt a tear trickling down her cheek as she silently thanked him for answering so quickly.
He wasn't used to a midnight call like this, not unless they had been texting beforehand. This meant something was wrong, Eddie knew (Y/n) wouldn't just ring him out of the blue, late at night like this when he was at work. He could feel his heartbeat picking up already at the thought of what he was about to be told.
"Eddie, I think- I think there's a burglar."
"What?"
"I can hear someone, and one of the windows has been smashed. Please, please can you come home?"
This was one of his worst nightmares. Something happening to his family while he wasn't there. It had been his fear when he was in the army and (Y/n) was pregnant. He worried something would happen to her or she would have the baby without him. He worried being in another country entirely and not on the end of the phone if someone broke in and hurt his family. He feared not being able to be there if they were hurt or frightened and needed him.
(Y/n) could hear him cursing in the background and she could make out the sound of his boots hitting the floor as he started to breathe deeper, indicating he was now running somewhere.
"We're coming now, okay? We're on our way and I'll get dispatch to send a squad car down. Where are you?"
"We're all in the bathroom." (Y/n) kept her voice quiet when she heard something clattering in the house. It sounded distant which meant whoever it was, they weren't in the hall or near the bedrooms.
That might give them some time to stay here undetected while Eddie and the team rushed down to help them.
They had never been burgled before. (Y/n) had never woken up to someone trying to break in or someone coming in and attacking her. She'd never had to hide the kids with her like this and call for help. Their house back in Texas had been out the way and their only neighbours were Eddie's parents and a little old couple in the next property line.
This was a nice house in a safe neighbourhood. Break-ins didn't happen round here.
"I'm on my way amor, I swear. I'll be there soon."
***
Eddie didn't wait for the truck to roll to a stop. Once they were outside his house, he flung the door open and jumped down, bracing his knees upon landing so he could take off into a sprint.
He could hear the rest of the team calling after him, but their voices drowned out in the night air. He didn't care for them telling him to hang back and wait. That was his home. That was his family. He wasn't waiting for the police to give the all clear, he was going in.
And by the looks of it, Eddie would guess that Athena had only just arrived on scene.
Bobby had called her to let her know of the situation and ask for back up and Eddie had seen her and her partner head inside his home. He was going in now, he was going to find his family and make sure they were alright.
"Eddie!" Bobby's voice hissed behind him as the Captain followed him up the garden path and in through the front door.
The lights were off, Eddie wasn't sure whether he was expecting it to be dark in the house or not, but it unsettled him either way. He saw Athena's partner looking round the seemingly empty living room and he skidded down the hall to follow Athena into the kitchen.
He hung back a step, mostly because Bobby's hand found his shoulder and squeezed tight, as a warning.
They both watched as she flicked on the light and pointed her gun at the tall figure stood near the sink.
Why was this person in the kitchen? There was nothing of value or interest in here. What was he planning to steal, the pots and pans?
He didn't have a bag or a rucksack to put any valuables in. There didn't look to be any ornaments missing in the living room from the sneaking glance Eddie stole. The only damage so far was the busted window and broken picture frames near the front door which had dented the wall when it swung open. If this was a robbery, it was carried out by a very bad thief.
"Hands where I can see them." Athena's voice was calm but stern with a demanding tone that rung out through the air.
The stranger spun round a little too quick for himself and his head swayed back as he stumbled, steadying himself at the last moment by leaning on the island counter.
Eddie narrowed his eyes, his lips curling as he studied the man who had broken into his house. He looked drunk. He could barely keep his eyes open, he was swaying his head back and forth and his sense of balance was very clearly distorted.
"What are you doing?" Eddie couldn't help himself. He had to ask when he realised the man had one hand on the counter and the other was clutching one of the glasses from the cupboard.
"G-getting a drink?" The stranger hiccupped through his words which caused his head to snap back and his trembling hand let the glass drop down on the counter with a resounding clatter.
He was getting a drink? Was he being serious?
"Jesus Christ. You broke into my house for a drink?" Eddie couldn't help but tut as he dragged his hand through his hair and shook his head in disbelief.
This idiot had broken into his home, frightened his wife and kids, all so he could get a drink? Did he know whose home he had broken into? Did he have any clue what time it was, what was going on, or that there was indeed a young family in this house who were currently petrified while he tried to make himself a drink?
"You're house-" Confusion was clearly written across the man's face. A deep frown set in his brows and he turned to look around the kitchen as if he wasn't even sure where he was.
A deep sigh left Athena's lips as she clipped her gun back into her holster and exchanged it for a pair of handcuffs.
"Okay. You're under arrest for breaking and entering, let's go for a ride to the station. See if you can sober up."
He didn't reject the handcuffs. He let his head hang forward and allowed Athena to drag him from the kitchen, practically holding him up as he stumbled and swayed back and forth. He was drunk out of his head. Either he thought this was his home and he'd simply lost his keys, or he thought this was the home of a friend and he was fine to blunder in like this.
Eddie felt Bobby pat his shoulder and a silent exchange passed between them. This was a good thing. This wasn't someone trying to steal things from his home or attack his family or terrorise them. This man hadn't hurt any of Eddie's family and he hadn't approached them or even given them one thought.
This was the best outcome they could have hoped for.
With a shake of his head, Eddie twisted and jogged out of the kitchen. (Y/n) said she was in the bathroom. He needed to go in and tell them everything was okay if they hadn't already heard the team blundering into the house.
He could feel the adrenaline coursing through his veins and sending his hand shaking as he opened the bedroom door. He flicked the light on as he passed and slowed his steps when he reached the adjoining bathroom.
"Baby? Baby it's me, can you open the door for me?" Eddie rapped his knuckles on the door while his other hand clutched the doorframe tightly to try and keep himself under control. His forehead pressed into his arm and he could feel his foot jittering against the floor out of anxious habit.
He could hear odd sounds and things being moved about before quiet footsteps approached the door. And the way the lock slowly unclipped signalled that (Y/n)'s hands were shaking too.
Relief swarmed through (Y/n)'s stomach and caused her knees to quake when she peered through the gap in the door and set her sights on Eddie.
Tears streamed freely down (Y/n)'s face and she could see black dots twinkling in front of her eyes when she swung the door open and rushed forward. Her arms deadlocked around Eddie's neck and she meshed her face against his shoulder. The feel of his arm bound tight around her waist and his other hand curling around the back of her neck made (Y/n)'s breathing hitch in her throat.
He was here. They were safe. Everything was okay.
"Oh baby. You all okay?" Eddie smothered his lips against the side of (Y/n)'s head and slowly walked her backwards into the bathroom. He could feel her trembling in his arms and he worried if he let her go her legs might cave in.
"Did you get him? Who was it?"
"A fucking drunk, Athena's arrested him. He had no clue where he was, but I don't think he would of done anything if he saw you. Small mercies."
When his sights set on the bath, he could feel his heartstrings being cut, dropping his heart right down to the pit of his stomach.
The kids were petrified.
Chris was sat in the bath, slowly rocking back and forth to try and keep himself calm. He had his arms bound around Rosie who was sitting up between his legs, hand stuffed into her mouth as she sniffed, clearly about to cry. Chris had his cheek resting on top of her head, tears streaked down his face and panic written across his features.
Daisy was sat next to him, cuddled up into his side as much as she could with one hand around Chris's arm and the other binding her teddy to her chest.
Eddie eased (Y/n) down so she was sat on the side of the bath and he crouched down beside her so he could reach his arms forward for the kids. He carefully eased Rosie from Chris's protective embrace, pressing a kiss to her temple before he let (Y/n) take her from him to soothe her.
"Are you two okay?" He braced himself on the heel of his boots when Chris barrelled forward into his chest with his arms looped around Eddie's neck. And he moved his left arm out for Daisy when she whined and scrambled up to latch onto him too like she thought she was missing out.
"W-where's the bad man?"
"Bobby and Athena got him, it's okay. Everyone's safe now."
Eddie shifted his arms a bit lower down around each of them so he could lift them up from the bath. He held one kid in each arm, letting them burrow into his chest while he turned and headed into the bedroom, feeling (Y/n) walking close behind on shaking legs.
He eased them down onto the bed with a kiss to their foreheads and for a brief moment his eyes locked with (Y/n)'s when she sat down. He noticed how she was still shaking and her feet were tapping against the rug while she tried to rock Rosie up and down against her chest, but it was hard when she could barely keep her arms tight around the toddler.
But Eddie twisted to look behind him when Buck cleared his throat, a soft smile on his face as he stood in the doorway with Bobby. He tried to turn in their direction but he stopped when Daisy deadlocked her hands around his arm and pulled his arm into her chest with her teddy.
"Daddy no!"
"I'm just gonna talk to uncle Buck, I won't leave the room flower, I promise." He carded his fingers through her unruly hair and pressed a deep kiss to the top of her head.
It took a few moments for Daisy to debate and confirm that Eddie wasn't lying to her before she grumbled and let go of his arm. She didn't want her dad to leave her sights, he had to stay and keep them safe.
Eddie leaned against the doorframe, arms folded over his chest and his cheek against the door. They could both see that all the energy had been drained from him completely. The adrenaline was still rushing through his body, but he was losing the momentum he had earlier on shift. He had never had a phone call or a night like this before and he never wanted to experience it again.
"You'll need a new window, but we've broke all the glass out and drilled some wood there for now so it's secure."
"Thank you."
Eddie hadn't even thought or worried about the window or the front door when he got here. He just had to make sure whoever was invading his home hadn't managed to reach his family or hurt them. But he was grateful the team had bordered up the window pane, it was one less job for Eddie to do.
"I think you'd better stay home tonight." Bobby nodded his head in the direction of the bed behind Eddie where his family was waiting.
He didn't think it was wise for Eddie to come back on shift, not when his mind would only be focused on wondering if his family was okay. And leaving them after this while all of them were shook up wouldn't be in his best interests either. Eddie needed to stay here with his family and make sure they were all okay.
"We'll leave you to it."
"Call if you need anything."
"Thanks," Eddie ran his hand over his face and rubbed at his eyes before he headed over to the bed and crouched down, taking a quick glance at the watch strapped to his wrist. "Okay, it's way past bedtime. Everyone in while I go lock the door."
A strange look crossed Chris's face while Daisy took a deep breath and managed a small smile. She was the first to move, turning around so she could scramble up the bed when Eddie pointed.
There was no way Eddie was letting either of them go back to their own rooms just to lay there and panic. They would end up having nightmares or a panic attack. Even if none of them managed to get any sleep tonight, at least if they had all the kids in bed with them, all of them would feel safe and secure. And Eddie wouldn't have to keep getting out of bed every half hour to go and check on them and make sure they were okay.
When Chris shuffled up the bed, Eddie headed out into the hall. He made quick work of locking the front door and pulling the chain across, something he hadn't done in a while. He kicked off his boots and turned all the lights out as he headed back to the bedroom.
Part of Eddie wished they had a lock on their bedroom door. It would have felt a lot safer to lock the door and keep them all safe in here, but he would have to settle for knowing the front and back doors were both locked and his family would be wrapped up in his arms for the night. Probably for the next few nights if he was being honest. Daisy and Chris were going to be frightened and shell shocked after this. He couldn't see them sleeping in their own beds for at least a week or more.
There didn't look to be much room left in the bed by the time Eddie stripped from his uniform and headed over to try and climb in.
(Y/n) was on her side, Rosie cuddled up on her chest and abdomen, not quite asleep but well on her way. She had Chris laid next to her, already burrowed down under the cover with his head on (Y/n)'s shoulder, tucked up against her side. And Daisy was laid next to him, teddy deadlocked under one arm and her other hand reaching out for Eddie.
"You gonna let me in, flower?" He lifted the cover and waited for Daisy to wriggle so he could just about squeeze in beside her.
He didn't like the way Daisy shivered and Chris made a little disgruntled noise when Eddie turned the lamp off. The dark seemed to ignite worry in all five of them, even Rosie gurgled and started to wriggle around, unsettled.
A soft "Come're," passed Eddie's lips and he twisted to lay on his right side, pulling Daisy closer until she was burrowed into his bare chest. He could feel her pulling her knees up to her tummy and smothering her face into his upper chest like she was trying to curl up into a ball and make herself as small as possible.
With his right hand trailing up and down Daisy's back, he looped his left arm out over Chris and curled his hand around (Y/n)'s arm. Trying his best to keep hold of each of his family.
They were all tucked up together; they were all safe.

Summary: You’re a brand new zookeeper at The Halfling Zoo- a place where half-animals live in captivity. Your job is simple- feed them and study them. Your main worry is that one of the more dangerous halflings might kill you.
Unfortunately, that may become the least of your worries.
Previous Part: Chapter Four
Next Part: Chapter Six
WARNINGS: none for now
Note: All characters are aged up, since there will be mature themes in future parts.
Also, I can’t promise I’ll finish this. I suck at finishing stories.
Note 2: I haven’t gotten to Idia’s or Diasomnia’s chapter yet, so please forgive me if the characters seem ooc.
Note 3: Of course Jade and Floyd get the most screen time.
—----------------------------------
Today you had not one, not two, but three exhibits to cover. The aquarium, reptile exhibit, and the panther and albino tiger exhibit were all on your list today. You decided to cover them in that order.
The man who ran the aquarium gave you the three meals without a second glance, walking briskly through the door as soon as you had picked up the fish sandwiches. What a friendly guy.
You walked through the keeper’s entrance, situated above the aquarium tank for easy access to the halflings inside. You looked down through the blue water and couldn’t see any movement or signs of life at all.
“Um… hello! Meal time!” You called.
No response.
You kneeled at the side of the tank and splashed your fingers in the water a little, still calling out “meal time”. Just as you were about to give up, a curious head popped out of the water.
It was one of the eel halflings- you could tell by the razor sharp teeth and the golden eye staring lazily up at you.
“Want a sandwich?” You asked, holding out a fish sandwich to the eel.
He nodded and held out a hand. You were fascinated by the webbed, clawed fingers that reached out to you. You must have stared too long because the eel let out a confused chirp, wondering why his sandwich was taking so long.
You handed his meal to him and watched as he dug in.
“What’s your name?” You asked.
“Floyd! Floyd!” The eel yelled out his name excitedly, as though he had answered a million dollar question. You laughed.
“Nice to meet you, Floyd. I heard you have a brother?”
Floyd nodded and dove under the water. You cringed at the thought of soggy bread, but figured it probably didn’t bother a sea creature.
Floyd resurfaced moments later, tearing at his sandwich with his sharp teeth. This time, however, he was not alone. Peeking above the water so only the top of his head and eyes could be seen, was a halfling that looked just like Floyd.
There were a few differences, such as the side his golden eye was on and the side his bangs parted, but the main difference was his expression. He had a different feel to him than Floyd. While Floyd’s face was relaxed and playful, this one was wary and studied you intently in a way that made you feel bare.
“What’s your name?” You asked. The eel did not answer, but Floyd was quick to supply the answer for him.
“Jaaaade,” Floyd told you, a playful smile spreading across his face.
“It’s nice to meet you, Jade,” you said to the quiet eel halfling. He narrowed his eyes in response, studying you even more intently.
You held out a sandwich for him to take. There was a minute where he stared at the food, before a clawed hand gingerly plucked it from your hands. He disappeared under the water.
“There’s one sandwich left… Oh, right! There’s an octopus halfling in the tank too! Could you get him for me, Floyd?”
Floyd let out a chirp and tilted his head in confusion. You realized you had just dumped a ton of words on the poor halfling.
“Could you get the octopus?” You asked gently.
Floyd chirped again and dove under the water. He came back up looking very proud of himself as he dragged Jade to the surface by his arm.
“No, not Jade…” you tried not to let your frustration show, “The octopus.”
Floyd stared at you uncomprehendingly.
Jade rolled his eyes, “She wants Azul.” You were surprised by how easily he said the words, as though he were fluent in english. And maybe he was- only time would tell, you supposed.
“Azul!” Floyd gasped, diving under the water again.
This time, when he surfaced, it was alone. You were about to ask Jade to get the octopus halfling, when a handsome face broke the surface. You were surprised by how different from the twins he looked, with his white hair and blue eyes. He also regarded you with apprehension, as though you may hurt him.
“Hello there,” you said softly, “I have a sandwich for you.”
He approached you slowly, and you did your best to stay completely still so as not to scare him off. Finally, he reached out a slender hand and took the sandwich from you. With him as close as he was, you could see black tentacles through the water. He noticed you looking and blushed a light blue, before shooting under the water and disappearing from sight.
Was he embarrassed by his tentacles? You waved away the thought. Surely that was impossible.
“I have to go, guys, but I’ll be back later,” you promised. Jade’s expression did not change, but Floyd dramatically threw himself against the side of the tank and said, “Awwwww…”
You giggled and waved goodbye, a little unnerved by how the twins’ eyes followed you on your entire walk to the door.
Next, the reptile exhibit.
The keeper there was a bit more friendly. He handed you the burgers that were to be fed to the inhabitants and wished you a good day.
There were only two tanks in the heated building, which was modeled to look like a brown cave. You went for the tank on the right first, slipping through the keeper’s door and surveying your surroundings. The giant boa constrictor in the middle of the enclosure turned to face you, and you were surprised by the friendly face you were met with.
The boa constrictor was human from the waist-up and snake from the waist-down. He had ruby eyes that sparkled with interest as he approached you quickly. He smiled widely, almost innocently, and revealed the long, hollow snake fangs in his mouth- a stark contrast from his friendly demeanor.
“Who are you?” The boa constrictor asked.
“I’m (Y/n), and you are?”
“Kalim!” The boa constrictor answered with a closed-eyed smile. He regarded the burgers curiously, “Rat burgers?”
“Oh, is that what’s in them?” You asked, feeling a little green at the thought of eating one of those. You held one out to Kalim and he took it with another big smile.
“Jamil! Wake up!” He stuck his hand into a fake bush and pulled on another snake’s tail. To your horror, the viper you had seen a few days ago came slithering out, seething silently.
Great. An angry, venomous viper. I’m going to die. You shook the negative thoughts from your head and held out a burger, desperately praying he wasn’t going to strike and poison you.
His eyes softened and he took the burger from you gently.
“Thank you. Did you say ‘thank you’, Kalim?” Like a few of the other halflings, Jamil was surprisingly fluent, although he struggled over some of the words.
Kalim’s eyes widened, “Oh! Thank you, (Y/n)!”
You laughed at his enthusiasm, “No problem, you two.”
As you waved goodbye, Kalim’s tail wrapped around your ankle. Surprised, you said, “I’ll be back later.” Reluctantly, Kalim withdrew his tail.
You headed to the other cage. As you approached, something bright blue skittered under a large bush. Curious, you entered through the keeper’s door.
“I’ve got a burger for you,” you called out.
“Ugh…” a dreary voice reached your ears, “A burger again? That’s snake food. Do they even know how to take care of a lizard?”
You poked your head around a particularly large bush and spotted the inhabitant of the tank you were in. He had pale skin with electric blue hair, scales, and tail, curled up in the corner, glaring at you.
“I’m sorry, that’s all I have for you today,” you apologized. The lizard appeared to be another halfling that was fluent in English. You were surprised by how many there were.
“You are new,” the lizard stated.
“Yes, I’m (Y/n). I’m a researcher,” you explained.
The lizard nodded, “I’ll eat the burger.”
You handed it to him, “Thank you, I’m sorry you don’t like burgers. What’s your name?”
He was quiet for a few moments, before replying, “Idia.”
“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Idia,” you said. You gave him a wave goodbye and he looked surprised.
“You’re leaving already?” He asked.
“I’ll be back soon!” You promised.
Idia nodded, then curled back up, “I like being alone anyways.”
You waved goodbye again, but it was not returned. You headed out of his exhibit and out of the reptile house. The next place to go was the panther and white tiger exhibit.
The fresh air hit your face as you traveled to the next exhibit. You felt the same nervousness as when you went into the lion and hyena area- the fear of predators much stronger than you. The meals were left on a table for you to take (more burgers), but no zookeeper was in sight. Some of the keepers here really were not friendly…
As soon as you opened the door, you were met with both of the albino tigers. You stiffened as one of them turned to you with a stern expression. The other tiger, you noted, was fast asleep.
“You are not the keeper!” The awake tiger yelled, “Trespasser! Trespasser!”
“No, no! I’m filling in for today,” you soothed, “See, I have your burgers.”
That seemed to satisfy him, because he sat down with a thump, tail twitching.
“What’s your name?” You asked, handing him a burger.
“Sebek,” he said importantly, sitting up proudly.
You turned to the sleeping tiger and gently called out, “Hey, can you wake up for a second? I have your dinner.”
The tiger did not stir. Sebek leaned over and gave him a nudge. The tiger startled awake, blinking blearily around.
At first, you were a little nervous. What if this tiger would be angry that you disturbed his sleep?
However, the tiger showed no signs of hostility, calmly approaching you and taking a burger.
“He’s Silver,” Sebek introduced him. The sleepy tiger, Silver, nodded absently as he began to eat.
“Nice to meet you both!” You said enthusiastically. They did not return the enthusiasm.
You took the other two burgers and walked through the underbrush, leaving the pair to their meal. You wondered where the panthers were.
“Hello,” a pleasant voice said.
You looked around but could not find the owner of the voice. “Up here,” he said.
You looked up and were shocked to see a panther halfling hanging upside down on a tree branch.
“How…?” You asked, stunned.
He let out a soft laugh and let himself fall to the ground, twisting in midair to land on his feet. He held out his hand, “I take other burger to Malleus.”
“Oh, I was looking forward to meeting everyone…” You said uncertainly.
Lilia looked surprised, “Researcher?”
“Yes, I’m a researcher.”
Lilia smiled, “Follow.”
You followed him as he walked through the forest. Before long, you both had ended up in a clearing. A tall panther halfling lounged on a rock, his eyes lighting up with curiosity as you approached.
“I brought you a burger,” you said cheerfully, holding out said burger.
The halfling stood up and it was only then that you noticed the horns jutting out of his head behind his ears. Suddenly, you realized why the black-and-pink haired panther had tried to spare you a meeting with him.
Halflings with horns, other than goat and ram halflings, were known to be able to produce magic. Strong magic.
A thrill of fear ran through you, but you held your ground. He didn’t seem to be hostile, so you wouldn’t show your hesitation.
“Thank you,” he said, voice smooth and rumbling.
You nodded, eyes fixated on his oddly-shaped black horns. The other panther took a bite of his burger and, as if he were copying him, Malleus quickly took his burger from your hand and dug in.
“I’ll be back soon, it was nice to meet you both,” you said gently, giving them a wave. It was only after you had closed the exhibit door that you realized you hadn’t gotten the pink-and-black haired panther’s name.
You pulled out your notebook. You’d get everyone’s names downpat soon enough. It was time to begin your observations.

Never In a Million Years... Unless- Pt 2
Part 1.
Summary: Melissa feels a certain way about everything, but some of those thoughts are starting to change, and she a few people she has to talk to.
WC: ~2.6k
Tumblr media
Melissa Schemmenti dreams of you that night. She dreams of a life together where the two of you are both wearing beautiful rings that sit on your left hand. She sees glimmers of the future that you could have- and it really isn’t different from the life that you live now. She dreams of a normal day that the two of you have, although she calls you her wife in the dream. The smile that you have on your face, eyes sparkling at that pet name, is enough to convince her in her sleep that she needs to make it a reality.
The dream then fades into something that she wasn’t quite expecting- you’re in a hospital bed, asleep. Instantly, Melissa is on edge. Why were you in the hospital? Were you okay? But then she feels something warm in her arms, and as she glances down she sees a newborn baby in her arms. The little tag on the baby’s ankle reads the words, “Baby Girl Schemmenti”.
With a jolt, the redhead wakes. Her eyes bolt open, and her breath is fast. The only thing holding her down from sitting straight up in bed is the fact that you’re still lying on top of her, fast asleep.
Her arm wraps around you a bit tighter, and she presses a soft kiss to your temple. Marriage, you could change her mind on, and you have unknowingly done that. But children? Children were something that she knew she never wanted- although maybe her subconscious was telling her different. She shakes her head gently. No. She does not want children. No. She does not.
Without thinking, her fingers begin to play with the ring that sits on your middle finger, and then she rubs the skin around where she knows a ring will be sitting soon enough.
The next morning, you wake up in her arms as you always do, but she’s already awake. Thinking.
“Good morning,” you smile sleepily. She seems to be so deep in thought, she doesn’t respond. “Honey?”
Only then does her head turn, and she presses a soft kiss to your temple, much like she did in the middle of the night.
“What’s got you thinking so intensely this morning?” you ask through a quiet yawn.
She chuckles softly. “Just thinking.”
“Clearly,” you quip as you go to sit up, but her arms just wrap around your waist more. “About?”
“How lucky I am to have you in my life,” she sighs in content. Her lips brush over you temple again.
You look up at her with tired eyes. “Mel.” You know that those thoughts of hers often come during times where she’s leaning into her fears and doubts about the relationship that the two of you hold so near and dear to your hearts. “Are you feeling a certain way again?”
She shakes her head softly as she looks down at you with the most loving eyes you’ve ever seen out of her. “No. I’m secure. I just… I love you.”
“I love you too,” you promise her. Then you smirk as you rub the sleep from your eyes. “I would love you more if you would make me a coffee while I hop in the shower before work.”
“What if I joined you?” thee redhead wiggles her brows up and down, a smirk written into her face.
“You and I both know that we can’t do that, or we’ll never get to work,” you chuckle as you hit her shoulder playfully. “Coffee, please.”
“If that’s really what you want,” Melissa huffs. Her arms unwind from around you, and you’re able to sit up and swing your legs over the side of the bed, gathering your things for your shower.
You can feel her gaze. “Stop staring at my ass, you perv.”
“Just admiring my beautiful girl,” your girlfriend grins.
You quickly hurry into the bathroom, and Melissa makes her way into the kitchen with a smile on her face as she turns the coffee machine on.
Only a few minutes later, you hear a knock on the bathroom door, and then you hear her enter the room.
“Not trying to start anything,” she says with a knowing smile as you poke your shampoo filled head out to see her. “Just thought you might want your coffee.” She sets the steaming drink down on the counter before turning to head out.
“Hey,” you call after her, a pout on your face.
“You told me no funny business,” she laughs lowly.
You nod. “That doesn’t mean I can’t kiss you though.”
She presses her lips to yours softly, and you can taste the coffee that she’s been drinking for herself. “You have never looked more beautiful.”
You roll your eyes. “Go.”
The two of you finish getting ready for a day at the school before driving in together, her hand resting gently on your thigh the entire way there.
“What has you being so lovey today?” you chuckle softly when she kisses your temple for the billionth time.
She chuckles. “I told you… just thinking about how lucky I am to have you.”
You smile up at her and pull her down by her arm to kiss her cheek. Your eyes linger on her for just a few seconds longer before you rip your eyes away to continue looking at your lesson plans for the next few days.
But Melissa’s arms quickly snake around your waist, and you have to excuse yourself to go sit in your classroom in order to actually be able to focus.
Green eyes linger on where you just were before Barbara coughs rather awkwardly.
“Melissa Schemmenti,” the kindergarten teacher states firmly. “What on Earth has you looking at her like you want to marry her?”
The second grade teacher looks around and observes that most of your other coworkers are focused on the news that is being cast from the television or are distracted by their own lesson plans.
She lowers her voice and leans in to her work wife. “Because I want to marry her.”
Barbara’s eyes go wide. “What?”
“We’ll talk about this when other people aren’t around,” Melissa states firmly, yet quietly.
“Melissa Ann,” Barb admonishes. “You cannot drop a bomb on me like that and then not discuss it with me!”
The outburst gains the attention of the room.
“What?” Janine cuts in. “What did Melissa tell you?”
“None of your business, pipsqueak,” the redhead practically growls out. “Barbara, we will discuss later. For now? I have to get down to my classroom to set up the science experiment for today, but I would hope you won’t say anything.”
Without another word, Melissa makes her way out of the break room and down towards the second grade wing.
Despite the fact that your colleagues continue to bombard the veteran kindergarten teacher to spill whatever Melissa had told her in confidence, Barbara maintains her professionalism and simply brushes them off.
Those lingering looks, sweet words of affirmation, and brushed kisses to your temple continue throughout the day, and your grade partner can’t help but practically melt at the softness of your relationship.
Once you’re at home, you fully intend on gathering more materials and pouring over lessons, as well as putting together the conference schedule. But your girlfriend is making it difficult for you as she practically hangs off of you and distracts you- attempting to get you to look away from your work and follow her into the bedroom instead.
“Baby,” you chuckle as you bat her hand away from your ass for the fourth time in the last ten minutes. “Is today a special day that I’m forgetting or something?” You glance down at your watch. It isn’t your birthday, it certainly isn’t her birthday, and it isn’t your anniversary.
“Everyday is a special day when you’re my girl,” you hear Melissa singsong.
With a roll of your eyes, you give her the words back, and you gather your things.
“That worked?” the redhead almost looks shocked.
You laugh. “No. It did not. I’m going to the library to actually get some work done.”
Your girlfriend juts her bottom lip out, pouting. “Mi amore,” she whines.
“Maybe once I get home from the library, and after we’ve had dinner?”
That gets Melissa to perk up. “I’ll have it ready by 6:30?”
“I’ll be home,” you promise her with a quick peck to the lips, and then you’re heading out the front door.
When she’s positive that you aren’t coming back because you forgot anything, Melissa calls her work wife.
“Hello?”
“She’s gone,” the second grade teacher breathes into the phone as she gathers ingredients for dinner. “Which means we can talk about what I told you in the lounge today.”
By the end of that phone call, Melissa Schemmenti is scheming on how to get you to marry her, and she knows every step she is obligated to take before popping the question.
Walking in from the library, you’re hit with a delightful smell. And when you walk into the dining room, your girlfriend is sitting there with two plates in your spots, a soft smile on her face, a beautiful bouquet of flowers is laid on your chair, and there’s a candle lit in the middle of the table.
“Babe,” you swoon.
“What?” she asks you innocently as she takes in your look. It’s nothing special- you had changed out of your slacks and dress shirt for a pair of leggings and a cozy sweater, your hair knotted messily on the top of your head.
“Seriously, am I missing something?” you ask.
“I just wanted to do something nice for mi amore,” your girlfriend tells you softly. “Sit down and start eating before it gets cold.”
Dinner is warm and sweet, and everything that you expected it to be.
“I was thinking we invite your parents over for dinner this weekend?” Melissa says casually. “You know? It’s been a bit since we’ve had them over.”
“Really?” you ask. Usually, when you meet with your parents for dinner, the four of you go out to a restaurant. You know how particular the redhead is about having people in your home.
She nods. “Honestly, I’ve been doing some thinking lately, and-”
“That’s dangerous,” you quip.
“-And I’ve been thinking maybe once it gets nicer out, we should have a barbecue here,” she finishes. “You know, the Abbott group, some of my family, your family.”
“Melissa Schemmenti,” you say lowly, a smile scarily close to taking over your face. “What on Earth have you done, or what on Earth are you going to do, that you’re buttering me up like this?”
The redhead raises her hands in mock surrender. “Nothin’. I swear. Just been thinking that a lot of our foundation is based on my wants and needs, and I figured if I’m going to get out of my comfort zone, it might as well be with you and for you.”
“Well, my love,” you rise from your seat and plant yourself in her lap, wrapping your arms around her neck and kissing her softly. “I think that’s very, very sweet of you.”
And so, by some miracle, you’re able to get your parents over to your house that weekend. Melissa cooks dinner as you expected her to, you flitting between helping her and holding up conversation with your parents.
They are extremely complementary of the redhead’s dishes- as they should be. Your girlfriend is one hell of a cook, and if she wasn’t a teacher, you’re fairly certain she could’ve made it as a chef at a five star restaurant.
“I mean, really,” your father sighs in content as he finishes off his plate. “I don’t think I’ve had a meal this well prepared in… ever. From the plating, to the actual flavors, you are a talented woman.”
Melissa just shrugs and takes another long sip of her wine- one that she knew would pair excellently with everything she was serving tonight.
“I agree,” your mother smiles as she sips her own drink. “And this wine… exquisite.”
“Mom,” you laugh. “Don’t try to be all proper and use words like exquisite. Mel and I have been together long enough for her to know that we are not those kinds of people.”
“Would you rather I have said, ‘Wow, Melissa, this wine is so good I could finish off the whole bottle myself’?” your mother teases.
“I have been known to do that,” you roll your eyes. “And Mel is usually sitting right next to me while I drink it out of a mug.”
“I still can’t believe you do that,” your girlfriend elbows you gently, making a face of disgust.
“I caught you doing it the other night,” you quip.
It’s her turn to roll those beautiful green eyes of hers. “Because you brought me my wine in a mug. I very much prefer to drink it out of a glass.”
You squeeze her thigh gently. “You love me.”
“You’re lucky,” she grins right back at you.
It’s a bit later that you excuse yourself softly to use the restroom.
“Be good,” you warn, and you aren’t quite sure if you’re warning your girlfriend or your parents. You get three innocent smiles in return before you turn on your heel and head upstairs to relieve yourself.
Once she knows you’re out of earshot, Melissa turns to your parents quickly and jumps straight for it.
“I want to marry your daughter, and I need to know that the two of you are okay with that before I do anything,” the redhead states.
She’s met with wide eyes and a confused look from your mother, but a broad smile from your father.
“Bout damn time,” your dad chuckles.
“I thought Y/N said you didn’t want to get married,” your mom raises a brow.
Melissa sighs. “I did some thinkin’, an’ she’s worth the leap for me. But before I go through with anything…”
“We kept you around this long, ain’t we?” your dad teases. “You’re good for her.”
When you descend down the steps, it’s almost eerily quiet. Entering the room, you’re met with your parents and Melissa all smiling silently at each other. It’s… it’s almost disturbing.
“What have you three planned?” you ask, hands planted on your hips with your brow raised. You look just like your mother in that moment.
“Just figuring out the next time we’re all getting together,” your mom says casually. “Because I quite like the wine your girlfriend keeps around the house.”
They’re off a bit later, Melissa sending your mother home with one of the bottles of wine the two of you keep stored in the liquor cabinet, and you and the redhead easily dance around the kitchen to clean everything up. Only once you’ve brought everything over to the sink and she’s busy washing the pots and pans used do you snake your arms around her waist and kiss her cheek.
“Thank you,” you sigh softly. “It was really nice not having to spend an arm and a leg out at dinner with them.”
“Anything for the love of my life,” your girlfriend says softly as she cranes her neck to kiss you back.
Those words shock you, because she’s always called you ‘mi amore’ or something of the sort- but never the love of her life.
It works in the redhead’s favor too, because no sooner are the two of you in bed and seeing stars- dishes long forgotten.
And once you’re curled against her and your breath evens out, Melissa makes a call.
“I’m gonna need Nonna’s ring,” she whispers into the phone.

There's so much to unpack from this convo bruh.
How Moros's the most unsure - makes sense, cause he's the one with a net negative relationship experience. No bitches. But also you can see the hesitancy to approaching these feelings. This is a new unfamiliar experience for him.
Also I see that deflection there Nem. You're not avoiding talking about your feelings this time! I think Nem's still burned out from the fallout with Artemis, but also. Nem doesn't want to disrupt Mel and her task. 🥺
Also Nem implying that Mel plays dumb about these things. I don't think she plays dumb per se. I think Melinoe's deal is that she's so busy atm, she simply doesn't have for all that romance rn. So she just ignores it/puts it off. And we see that a bit in how she engages with that here. She's very emotional unavailable in this convo - "If you wish to know me better, wonderful." Girl how many hearts have you broken before this and walked it off??
And we know she did. That one convo with Dora that implies Mel has past casual sexual relationships, and we see that casualness here. I do believe Mel has a casual hookup culture going on (Aphrodite calls her a heartbreaker upon first meeting and compares her to herself) and combined with her whole autism blasting + insecurities, doesn't realize the extent of the effect she has on people. Or the breakups for that matter. Hooks up with people for stress relief, then thinking anything more serious isn't needed or isn't something she can get, ends it. Or simply it's as Mel says - she's someone who doesn't like to be bound, so she prefers more relaxed relationships perhaps? Or maybe even more than just two 👀. Again, the Aphrodite parallels.
I think Nem is aware of all that hence why she approaches Moros especially with how 1) Nem herself is jealous and has past relationship issues 2) it's part of Nem's domain and 3) Moros has no idea bout all that with Melinoe. Either way both Nem and Moros are not happy with the outcome of this convo so I suspect future drama.
And also.
The way the stars aligned in my file that out of all Eris convos to get at the same time. I get this one
Tumblr media
And Eris sounded so despondent beforehand. A very sad hooray - that's what she said. It's like she overheard what her older siblings are talking about and got both upset but also!! She needs to get in on the action too! Get Trouble for herself!! Insane.
Then I walk over to Hecate and:
Tumblr media
Hecate's out here teasing her about this. Melinoe literally cannot catch a break in my file 😭

hear me out on my glorious king sukuna, but more specifically, megkuna, after the gojo vs sukuna fight ryomen decides to show off by fucking his slut (the reader) in front of everybody thru the eyes of mel mei’s crows, forcing everyone to realize who the real strongest sorcerer is, the reader is like uraume in a sense but instead of being a personalized chef/assistant the reader is sukuna’s lifelong cocksleeve, btw ur work is absolutely BEAUTIFUL keep it up handsome 🫶🏽
Tumblr media
Cocksleeve
THIS WAS SO SCRUMPTIOUS TY
srry it took so long I took a MASSIVE break from writing
also TYSM ily <33
Warning: NSFW, sukuna calls you cockwhore, cocksleeve, etc, you can't say no, you don't know the crows r watching
You were breathing heavily, rushing around to find Sukuna, you had no idea where he was an you were scared.
You ran for what felt like ages until you found him, "Sukuna!" You called you to him as you ran up to him, looking up at the tall curse.
"Ah, you're here." Sukuna didn't even look at you, keeping his eyes focused on some crows that were observing you both while perched on the trees.
"Why are you looking at the birds?" You ask, tilting your head curiously.
"Oh..." That's when Sukuna smirks, suddenly getting an idea. "Yes, they're just birds, don't worry about them."
You raise an eyebrow at his suspicious behaviour but choose not to comment on it, instead you fidget with the sleeves of your sweater.
"Why don't we have some fun, hm? I'm awfully stressed after my fight y'know." Sukuna asks, but really you don't actually have a choice, although he always asks, you can't refuse him.
"Right here? But... what if someone sees...?" You ask nervously, still fidgeting with the sleeves of your sweater.
"Nobody is around, no-one will see." Sukuna smirks, looking directly at one of the crows.
"Plus, you know you can't say no to me."
You nervously shuffle your feet, you know you can't refuse, an although you're used to sex with Sukuna, you always get nervous.
"Alright then..."
Sukuna doesn't need anymore encouragement before he's spinning you around, pushing you down onto the ground in a downward dog position.
You yelp and quickly place your hands in front of you to support yourself as Sukuna presses down on your lower back, forcing you onto your knees.
He wants to do it Doggystyle I guess...
You let out a quiet whine and stay still waiting for Sukuna's next move.
He smacks your ass with his large hand, making you jump, it didn't hurt much since you were wearing jeans but it still gave you a slight shock.
Sukuna slowly drags your pants and underwear down, making them bunch up at your knees. He grabs the butt plug you have in an wiggles it around, making you whine.
"Mm, Kuna..."
"Yes, my little pet?"
You wiggle your ass impatiently, you hate being teased.
He drags the plug out, making you hiss and shiver.
"You're so loose, did you wear this all day?" He asks while shoving the plug into his pocket for later.
You whine and nod as he rubs his thumb over your whole, not pressing in, just teasingly rubbing it.
"That's what I like to see, what a good boy."
Sukuna smirks and pulls his cock out, slapping it against your ass.
Before you know it he's thrusting in and out of you at an inhumane pace, you scream and dig your nails into the ground.
"Good little cocksleeve, huh?" Sukuna asks as he smacks your ass, his other hand holding onto your waist to keep you still as he relentlessly fucks you.
"Bein' such a good boy for me, yeah? You gonna be a good cockwhore and take all my cock?"
"Mm! Y-Yes! I-I'll be good... m' promise-"
Your arms give out, forcing you to fall onto your chest with your ass in the air.
You look back over your shoulder at Sukuna but he's not paying attention to you, rather to the crows.
You find it odd how focused he is on them, but you pay no mind to it, you're too focused on how fucking fast Sukuna's fucking you.
"Kuna! Kuna!" You whine and moan, your hands digging into the ground as your legs shake.
"You gonna cum? Yeah? Cum for me, baby." Sukuna groans as he feels your hole tighten as you cum, squeezing around his cock making him fill you up.
The second Sukuna pulls out your entire body falls limp onto the cold ground, breathing heavily and sweating.
"Good boy." Sukuna chuckles and gives your ass a tight squeeze before pulling the plug out of his pocket, he shoves it back into your ass, making sure all his cum is kept in your hole.
The feeling makes you whine and squirm, but you have to admit, it's really hot.
"I hope they had a good show." Sukuna smirks, looking up at the crows.
"Huh? You hope who had a good show? The crows?" You ask in confusion.
"You could say that."

Before the elevator doors could close behind you, Melissa’s hand was clutching yours as she set off towards your hotel room. Her confidence and determination reminded you of a hot summer night during your twenties when you walked her home from a party - as soon as you approached her apartment, her hand was in yours, but her mind already between the sheets of her bed.
“You aren’t too busy to stay tonight, are you?” Melissa cooed as she stopped in her tracks outside of her apartment door. She gave your hand a strong tug which sent your tipsy body stumbling into hers - your hands gripping her sides to steady yourself.
Her statement was obviously rhetorical when she attached her lips to yours. One arm wound around your neck while the other slithered up your chest to hold your chin - both effectively holding you in place. Not that you wanted to go anywhere anyways.
As of a week ago, she and Joe were on a break (again), and suddenly you were both attached at the hips once again. Her hands had been wandering for days - slowly testing the waters to see how far she could get with you. And each time Mel’s skin brushed against your own, you felt electricity crackling across your body.
Melissa still hadn’t lost her touch. Her hands had found their way under your shirt, thumbs stroking your skin, sending those same jolts across your body once more. You were losing yourself in the moment. Her hands felt everywhere all at once. You could have sworn that her pink lipstick covered your face. Each touch made you feel intoxicated.
You found yourself fading into past memories when you heard her breathless, gruff voice in your ear. And suddenly you were 16 again.
“I need you.” The redhead whispered as she pressed you against her bedroom door.
You had picked her up from her boyfriend’s house at one in the morning. She had snuck out to see him, but when her sexual escapades resulted in disappointing results, she called pleading with you to rescue her.
“I-” Your brows furrowed, head bowed, and hands clutched her sides. How could you tell her that you had no clue what to do with all of her bottled up desire? It felt like she expected the world from you, but your inexperience made you freeze up like a deer in headlights.
Her mother, sisters, and brothers were home. You couldn’t have the devout Catholic Ms. Schemmenti see you being more than friendly with her daughter, but Melissa’s canine teeth gently sinking into the side of your neck made your worries start to fade.
She tempted you once more, “Come on, baby.”
With unexpected expertise, Melissa fished her hotel key from her pocket and pressed it to the sensor on the door. Your heart leapt when you heard her giggle as she fumbled with the door handle. Overwhelmed by your desire for her, you forced your lips to hers once more and backed her into the hotel room, letting the door slam behind you.
It was blurry as you both approached the bed. Dominance would shift back and forth as you pressed one another to the walls and tore at each other's clothes. She had come away as the winner when she pushed you back onto the bed.
Melissa’s gaze was hungry as she stared down at you. Her hands undid her jeans, and you loved the way her jaw shifted when she was met with the slight challenge of sliding her jeans over her wide hips. She slowly stripped before you, taking off each piece of clothing without breaking her eye contact.
“Take a picture. It lasts longer.”
“Don’t tempt me.” Your response had been so quick that Melissa wasn’t expecting such forwardness. She always loved teasing you about your tendency to admire her, but often you would just look away with a red face.
The redhead was comfortable changing in front of you, but would usually turn away from you when she removed her bra - always preserving some assemblance of privacy. This time, however, she remained facing you, staring you down as she revealed her chest to you. In the past, you had always had the decency to stare down into your lap, but now you soaked up the sight.
She took a few steps closer, and time stopped. She was towering over you as you sat on the edge of her bed, her breasts were at eye level. Her hand caught the back of your neck, causing you to stall in place. You couldn’t believe the momentum of her hand was pulling you towards her enchanting body.
“Well, don’t be shy now.”
Shaken from lingering in your memories, you caught her nipple between your lips, settling into the comforting position of our hands and mouth on her tits and her knees on either side of your lap. Her fingers scratched your scalp and played with your hair as small hums of satisfaction emanated from her body.
When you detached your lips and looked up to meet her eyes, Melissa’s intensity wavered for a moment. A soft smile graced her lips and she cocked her head, “You always look beautiful like this.”
You had no words for her. You only wanted to make her feel good.
With strong hands gripping her thighs, you lifted her momentarily to exchange places with her on the bed. And rather than loom over her for the same body worship, you sank to your knees, taking your rightful place between her legs.
“This always feels so right...”
Of course it does. You knew this, but after years apart, you were happy to remind her (or prove to her) how well you knew every square inch of her. It was so satisfying to hear each one of her vocalizations, each more unrestrained than the last as she lost control over herself.
Maybe it was pure ego, but you always told yourself that you were the only one that could do this to her. That could bring out this part of her. Why else would she keep coming back for more?
With the pure motivation of proving yourself to be Melissa’s most competent lover, you probed her cunt more thoroughly and savored her flavor as she grew wetter.
“I have to feel you against me.” Mel’s hands on your cheeks and growl drew you from continuing to swim through the memory any longer.
While you weren’t sure what she had in mind, you were directed by the impatient and aggressive woman sharing the bed. Her hands desperately tugged at any remaining clothes, causing you to nervously fumble around as you stripped.
When you were finally naked, she had you with your back against the bed and her manicured nails teasing your cunt, testing your wetness only to find you soaked. Reliving the past while also being in the present with Melissa had you feeling frenzied for her touch, and you let her know as such when you muttered ‘please’ over and over.
“I will, baby.” Her voice was breathy and your clit throbbed at hearing the pet name. You knew you were weak for Melissa Schemmenti, but now you felt like absolute putty in her hands, ready to do what she requested at any second.
You were disappointed when she momentarily moved away. It was impossible for you to contain your groan when your cunt made contact with hers as you weren’t expecting the coolness of her sopping heat against you.
Instinct took over you both as you gripped one another's hips and thighs, attempting to draw the other closer for increasingly satisfying sensations as you grind your cunts together. When her mouth found yours, it felt as though she was trying to swallow you whole with each open mouthed kiss and swipe of her tongue. From the way she held and kissed you, it was hard to contend which one of you was the most desperate for the other’s touch.
Melissa was turned around and completely lost in the humping, grinding, and swirl of limbs. Her thoughts were so overrun by her body chasing down the orgasm she craved, the filter for her thoughts had completely shut down.
“I love you,” she breathed, hand squeezing at the back of your neck, “I never want... you... you to think otherwise.”
You lost track of the night from there, completely blinded by her admission.
Hours later you would still have her sprawled out on her back, chest heaving with each tantalizing thrust of your hips. You had her repeat those first three words over and over, breathing them in as if you needed them to live. While you couldn’t force the same words from your mouth, you hoped each of your kisses and movements could reflect the love you held for her until you were ready to return the sentiment.
--
It had been disappointing to wake up to an empty bed, but the photo of Melissa in a black bikini waiting for you in your texts had you throwing on your bathing suit to make your way to her by the pool before you had truly shaken the sleep from your body. It was easy to push the thought of not admitting your feelings from your head. You knew you loved her, but hearing her say it was far better than anything you had experienced in years. For now, it was easier to focus on that than your own shortcomings in vulnerability.
When you found her by the poolside, Melissa patted the spot between her legs, and while the innuendo would typically make you blush, her tone and eyes only conveyed an innocent sweetness. “I didn’t have the heart to wake you, but I saved you a seat.”
“Thank you?” With a bit of nervous skepticism for the unusual docility from Melissa, you crawl onto the round cushioned pool chair and shiver at the feeling of her hands immediately finding your shoulders.
“I can help with your sunscreen.” She offers with a forceful execution as she is already applying sunscreen to her hands before you have an opportunity to accept the offer. Mel’s hands work the lotion into your screen, lingering on your shoulders and biceps as she speaks casually, “The UVs are already high so I’m gonna read for a bit to tan. You can lay here with me or whatever.”
You shrug and nod, not wanting to seem too overzealous at the prospect of publicly being seen together. “Yeah, sure.”
Your heart was thudding in your chest when she patted your back and said ‘good to go’. There were no examples of public displays of affection between Melissa and you for you to base this interaction off of. Cautiously, you slide down enough to recline back into Mel’s lap.
Rather than confirming your anxious worries of rejection, Melissa shifted to having your head resting on her thigh while she drew up her other knee to rest her book onto. While she wasn’t turning pages in her book, her fingers brushed against your cheeks and forehead or twirled locks of your hair.
Her thoughts must have been wandering elsewhere as she spoke up suddenly, breaking the longstanding, comfortable silence between you, “When we get back, you should meet Barb. You could even come to a family dinner if you wanna.”

Ok so I had an idea, it might be stupid but here’s the summary: one of Melissa’s first students became a teacher and got a job at Abbott as a first grade teacher. Melissa becomes interested in her right away.
On another note: dudes, I’ve noticed I don’t get as much notice on my Chessy fics and I’m not understanding, she the original gay icon from Lisa Ann Walter. Also almost no notice on my Marilyn Thornhill x reader fic. I’ll be doing worth it then a sexy Mel firefighter prompt😉

You walk into the doors of Abbott Elementary and you stop to take a look. Been awhile since you last step foot in here, last time was when you were graduating grade 8, about 10 years ago. You’ve gone from graduating from Abbott to teaching there, full circle as they say.
You got your teaching badge and classroom key and then you head to the staff lounge. You open the door with a smile and look around in amazement. You never saw this room, the one place students couldn’t enter. You look and see a few teachers staring at you confused. You just walk in and go to the fridge to put your lunch in and you freeze.
“Ms. Schemmenti?” You say and she looks at you even more confused.
“Who are you?” She asked.
“Oh sorry, I guess I look a bit different. My name is y/n y/l/n. You might not remember me actually, I was in your class when you first started working here.” You tell her and she smiles.
“Of course, I remember you now. What are you doing here?” She asks.
You showed her your teaching badge. “I work here now.” You tell her proudly and walk over to her. “You actually inspired me to become a teacher. I just saw the way you loved teaching and I thought it’d be great to love your job so much and I always loved helping people out.” You tell her. “Ms Howard, you’re both still here. I don’t recognize anyone else here.”
“They all left dear.” Barb tells you. “And you’re a fellow teacher here now. Call me Barb.” She tells you.
“Barb…wow, that felt weird.” You say with a chuckle and she smiles at you. You then go and put your lunch in the fridge and then make a coffee. “Anyone else want one, I’m making a new pot.” You ask the room. Melissa gets up and stands next to you with her coffee mug.
“I’ll take one hon.” She tells you and you smile at her. “I’m proud of you, I knew you’d make a great teacher.” She tells you while you put coffee in her mug.
“Really?” You ask her and stare at her with wide eyes and she nods. “You might not have known but you were my favourite teacher.” You tell her and she rubs your shoulder.
“Thank you, it makes me happy to hear that.” She tells you and goes to sit down. When you’re done making your coffee, you get invited to sit with the trio and they all introduce themselves when you do.
“So y/n, what was Melissa like when she taught you?” Janine asks you.
“Well… she was always caring of all her students. And every year I was here, I saw that never changed.” You tell them and then go on and recall more moments that you remember from second grade and Melissa.
When it was close to 8am, you all make your way to the gym for the welcome back presentation. You walk in and see Barb and Melissa going to sit down somewhere and the trio going to get good seats near the front. The trio invited you to sit with them but you saw Melissa and Barb sitting in one of the middle rows and you make your way over there. You go in from the other side and walk over and sit down beside Melissa and she looks up from her phone to look at you.
“Hope it’s alright that I sit beside you.” you tell her and she smiles.
“Of course not hon.” She says and takes a candy from her bag, unwraps it and plops it in her mouth.
“I knew you had a candy stash.” You tell her and she looks over at you confused. “Whenever one of us was crying, you always gave a piece of candy to make them feel better along with a small pep talk.” You tell her and she smiles.
“Want one?” She asks and hands you a piece of candy. You take the candy with a smile.
“Sure, thank you Ms Schemmenti.” You say and she rolls her eyes as you pop the candy in your mouth.
“Hon, I’m not your teacher anymore, I’m your co worker, you can call me by my first name.” She tells you and you look at her confused. “Do you not know what my first name is?” She asks you and you shake your head. “It’s Melissa.”
“Melissa… that sounds weird.” You say and she tilts her head at you and you mentally facepalm. “Not that your name is weird. Just that I’m used to knowing you as Ms Schemmenti.” You rush out and she chuckles.
“I get it. When you’re used to something a certain way then it’s weird when it changes.” She tells you.
The presentation starts and you see that Melissa and Barb aren’t really paying attention. Barb is mostly focused on crossword puzzles, and Melissa on eating candy and her phone. She does keep offering you some during the 2 hour presentation, to which you always accept.
When Ava was showing selfies of her summer vacation, Melissa leaned over to you. “So where’s your classroom?” She asks you.
You look at your papers and see. “Ummm…” You look and she grabs one of the papers and sees.
“Oh, you’re right next to mine.” She tells you. “You’re a first grade teacher?” She says and you nod.
“You know we end up doing some things with the first graders during the year. I don’t know if you remember.” She tells you and you think about it.
“I remember doing some project with a bunny…or was it a rabbit.” You say and she grins.
“Peter rabbit.” She says and you smile and nod. “I still do that project.” She tells you and you smile.
“Really? Oh I would love to collaborate on that if you want. It’s a cute story.” You say while looking at what Ava is saying and she blushes.
A few hours later you’re decorating your classroom when you hear a few curses from next door. You walk over and knock on the door. A few seconds later Melissa opens the door and smiles when she sees it’s you.
“Everything alright in here? I heard, what I think is cursing.” You tell her and she sighs and nods.
“Ya, just having some trouble hanging something up. It’s a bit wide and everytime I go to hang up one side, the other one comes off cause it can’t support the weight.” She tells you.
“Do you need some help?” You offer and she smiles.
“If you don’t mind then I would appreciate it.” She says and she lets you in.
“Wow.” You say as you walk in her classroom. “It’s changed but still some things are the same.” You say as you look around the room.
“Was I really your favourite teacher? I mean you aren’t just saying that?” She asks and you look at her.
“Ya of course. I don’t really remember my other teachers that much, but I remember you. I sorta remember Barb but you don’t see me telling her that she was my favourite.” You joke a bit and she laughs.
“Well you could have without me knowing.” She tells you and you chuckle. You go over to one side of the poster that she needs help with and pin it up and then hold it while she pins the other side. “Well thanks for the help, I can’t wait to see you with the students. And it’s been great seeing you again.” She says to you and you smile.
“You as well.” You tell her and then go back to your classroom.
*2 months later*
Melissa opens her door and sees you there with a bag and a frustrated expression on your face. “Hey y/n.” She tells you with a quirked eyebrow.
“I need your help with my Halloween costume.” You say, straight to the point and she giggles.
“Alright come on in.” She says and steps aside to let you in her house. “Who are you going as?” She asks.
You and Melissa have gotten closer over the past 2 months. She didn’t give you the cold shoulder even though you’re new since you were one of her first students. She’s gotten to know who you are and the both of you have been slowly falling for each other. Neither of you will admit it though since you’re both stubborn and don’t want to possibly ruin the friendship.
“Ok well you know how you said you’re going as Penelope Featherington?” You start and she nods her head. “Well I thought I’d go as Eloise Bridgerton.” You tell her and she laughs.
“And what exactly are you having trouble with?” She asks you sigh.
“I can’t figure out how to put on the clothes.” You tell her with a pout. She giggles as your pout and walks up to you.
“Alright, well we can both get ready and help each other out.” She tells you and you smile.
You both get your costumes ready and laid out. You begin to put the corset on and she comes to tie it up. She sees all your skin on display and since you’re standing in front of the mirror, she sees a good amount of cleavage as well. She loops the string in the last few holes before beginning to tighten it.
“Is that too tight?” She asks and you shake your head.
“No, that’s perfect.” You tell her and she ties it together. She then helps you put the dress on and accidentally brushes one of your breasts and you gasp.
“Sorry.”
“Oh, it’s- it’s ok, just surprised me is all.” You rush out.
You then help her with her corset. You both really should have accounted for her chest, as when tightening it, one of them slips out and you both freeze. You stare at it through the mirror and your brain stops working. She tucks it back in and you’re still staring at where it was and your cheeks are redder than her hair. She sees your reaction and she turns around to face you.
“Did you like what you saw?” She asks, with a bit of a teasing tone and you nod.
“It looked perfect.” You breathe out and she can see your breathing has gotten heavy. She takes a step towards you and she’s right in front of you, it wouldn't take much to lean forward and kiss her.
“Y/n, are you attracted to me?” She asks cautiously. You widen your eyes and you don’t know what to say. All you have the brain function to do is nod. “Well that’s perfect because I’m attracted to you too.” She tells you with a smile.
“Really?” You say in disbelief and she nods.
“Ya, and I just want to say that I’ve been wanting to kiss you for a couple weeks now.” She tells you and you lean forward a bit and she closes the gap. She puts a hand on the back of your head and you put one on her cheek. You both pull back after a few seconds and you stare at each other before going right back and make out. She walks forward a bit while still kissing you and your back hits a wall. She puts both her hands on the wall, one beside your head and the other beside your waist. You have both your arms wrapped around her neck to keep her where she is and open your mouth a bit to let her tongue slip in.
At one point she puts her hand on your waist and gives it a small squeeze and you moan. You pull back when you need to breath and look at her as you try and bring oxygen back to your brain.
“Do you kiss all your former students?” You tease and she smiles.
“Can’t say I have, you’re the only one.” She tells you. “Do you kiss all your former teachers?” She teases back.
“Only my favourite teacher.” You say and she lunges forward to capture your lips again. She moves her hands downward near your ass and cups it when she gets there. She then gets you to hop up and wrap your legs around her and you do just that. She then pins you against the wall harder and goes for your neck.
She then gets some of her control back and she pulls back to look at you. “Do you want to continue with this or do you want to stop here? Cause I’ll tell you right now that if we continue then I’ll want to go all the way.” She tells you bluntly.
“Then let’s go all the way.” You tell her and she carries you to her bedroom and lays you on the bed and continues kissing you. You then get an idea when she goes back to kissing your neck. You get her to pull back and look at her. “I know you said to call you Melissa, but right now I just want to call you Ms Schemmenti.” You tell her and she smiles and shakes her head.
“Oh, do you want to be disciplined then?” She asks, playing along.
“Perhaps.” You say.
“I mean you have been bad. Having dirty thoughts about your teacher, showing up in sexy clothes to get her attention.” She tells you and blush. “Oh don’t think I haven’t noticed your wardrobe change in the past few weeks.” She tells you.
“So it worked then.” You say proudly.
“Oh, it definitely worked.” She says and kisses you again. She then reaches under your dress and pulls your underwear down and throws it somewhere. She then goes under your dress and connects her mouth with your pussy.
You feel her tongue on you and you gasp. You can’t see her, all you do is feel her and she definitely knows how to please a woman with her tongue. You grab the headboard behind you and you buck your hips. She then moves her mouth to your clit and you moan and buck your hips again. She then slips a finger in and you gasp out. She pops her head out from under your dress and looks at you with wet lips.
“How should I discipline you?” She asks you and you just whine as she’s still fingering you. She adds another finger and your eyes are shut closed. She expertly takes her underwear off and goes in her nightstand to get her strap on. She somehow is able to put it on with one hand and then she pulls out of you, much to your reluctance. She pulls your dress off and then she pulls one of your breasts out of the corset top and wraps her mouth around the nipple. She pulls back after a few seconds and looks at you. “I’m going to get in a sitting position and you're going to settle yourself on my strap and ride it.” She tells you and you look down and realise that she put a strap on and you nod.
She goes to sit and you climb on her lap and then slowly go down on the strap, taking the whole thing in you. You then start to go back and forth on it, riding the strap and wrap your arms around her neck and look at her. She grabs your hips and helps you ride her and she feels it rubbing her clit.
“Yes, ride my strap, take your discipline like a good girl.” She tells you and you moan.
“Yes Ms Schemmenti, I’ll be good.” You tell her and she groans. She slips a finger down to your clit and applies pressure and you gasp out and pull her body closer to you. She pulls you in and kisses you and you feel yourself close to coming. “Omg, I’m so close Miss.” You gasp out and she moans.
“I’m close as well, go on baby, come with me.” She says and seconds later you come and she comes right after you. You stop riding her strap and you get off of her. She holds you to her and you’re both trying to catch your breath. While doing that, you hear a knock at the door and you look at the time and realise it’s probably some of the early trick or treaters. “Ignore them, I’m more interested in this treat.” She says and points to you and you giggle.
“I do have to get ready though. I have a Halloween party to get too.” You say to her and go to get up.
“Nooo, but I want you here and don’t want to let you go.” Melissa says to you as she holds you tight and you giggle.
“Well how about you come with me, and then I can come back here with you.” You suggested and she smiled as she accepted your offer.
“Ok deal.” She tells you and then the two of you get ready and go to the party.

don't you worry your pretty little mind
Tumblr media
pairing: Dave York x fem!reader
rating: PG for 1 (one) ass squeeze but otherwise just all the fluff
word count: ⁓ 1.3k give or take
warnings: none, i think?? teeny tiny smidge of angst at the very beginning, Dave being an adorable dad, one singular ass squeeze as mentioned above, reader has no physical description besides being called "wife"
a/n: my contribution to @happypedrohours's Charcuterie Board Challenge!! thank you Mel and Sara for putting all of this together 🥰 my pairing was Dave + feta cheese. the event doesn't technically start until Friday but i have another wip scheduled for that day 👀 and i was just too excited to wait to share this. happy belated father's day to our favorite murder daddy 💛
“Honey, have you seen the feta?”
Dave wanders into the kitchen to see your entire top half buried in the open fridge. He laughs at the sight and you whip around with wide eyes.
“Well?”
“It should be right there on the shelf in front of you.” Dave leans on the counter beside you, chuckling again as you dive back in.
“You’re right, it should be. But it’s not.” You slam the door closed and begin pacing around the kitchen, opening various cabinets in a frantic search.
“Sweetheart, it’s not going to be under the sink with the sponges.” Dave tries to reason with you but you’re set on your task. He finally sighs and gently takes your wrist, halting your movement. “Hey, relax. It’s just a stupid plat-”
“David York, I swear to God if you say ‘stupid platter’ one more time, I will hit you over the head with the cutting board,” you threaten only half-seriously. “This is the one thing your mother requested for this party and it’s ruined.”
Dave fights the urge to roll his eyes as you’re already on edge and he knows it would only piss you off even more. “It is not ruined because there’s one thing missing. Look,” he wraps his arm around you and directs you to the center island where your meticulously designed charcuterie board lays out, “there is plenty of food here already. Grapes, olives, bell peppers, pitas and hummus. Carrots and ranch for the girls.” He turns to you and lifts your chin to meet your eyes. “My mother is not going to miss one thing out of all of this.”
You huff despite your appreciation of his attempt to reassure you. “Yes, she will. Because she hates me.” You cross your arms, deflating as Dave scoffs and backs away, rubbing his forehead.
“We’ve been over this. She does not-”
“Yes, she does, Dave! She literally told me herself that I’m the reason you and Carol split!”
“And we both know that couldn’t be further from the truth!”
“Yes! I know that. You know that. But she is convinced that I’m a homewrecker and she’s on a mission to destroy me by nitpicking every single thing that I do.” You match Dave’s stance, rubbing your own forehead to stave off a headache. “I just…she’s your mother, Dave, and I…”
Dave sighs and closes the distance between you again, rubbing your arms soothingly. “I know, baby, I know. I appreciate you wanting to impress her but in the end, it won’t make any difference.” Your head shoots up, brows furrowed in confusion. “I love you. You’re my wife. And nothing my mother says or does is going to change the way I feel.”
You relax at his clarification. Scrunching your eyes closed, you groan in defeat and lean your head on his chest, wrapping your arms around his waist. You hold each other for a moment, Dave rubbing your back. Finally, Dave lets out a deep relenting breath.
“But if it really means that much to you, I’ll run to the store and get more.”
You squeeze him tight and peck his lips, a cheesy smile breaking across your face. “Thank you.”
When Dave returns 3 hours later, the kitchen is even more a mess than it was before. It looks like the fridge vomited all of its contents across the counters and dining table. Your charcuterie board, however, still sits untouched in the middle of the island. You’re nowhere in sight.
Dave sets the plastic grocery bag containing your cheesy trophy next to the culinary creation and opens his mouth to call your name, but the doorbell cuts him off. He goes to the door, welcoming in his daughters and ex-wife. Carol bears a tray of brownies and follows Dave to the kitchen while Molly and Alice race upstairs.
Carols lets out a low whistle at the tsunami of food items. “Doing some spring cleaning, Dave?” she jokes.
Dave just shakes his head in exasperation as you enter in from the garage. “I thought I heard the door!” You cross over to give Carol a quick, friendly hug and take the dessert tray from her.
“Baby, what…is all this?” Dave turns in a circle, motioning to the room around him.
You crouch down and rifle through a cabinet for a plate to set out the brownies. “I turned the entire fridge inside-out looking for the feta. No luck.” Standing, you see the grocery bag on the island and gasp delightedly. “You got it! What took you so long, anyway?”
Dave groans and drops his head back tiredly. “You would not believe the trials I endured to find that for you.”
You and Carol laugh at his dramatics. She pats his shoulder and ventures over to the stairs in search of the girls. You round the island and place your hands on his chest. “My hero.”
He looks down at you, smiling at the appreciation in your eyes and pulling you into his arms. “You’re lucky I love you.”
“Yeah, I am.” You lean up to kiss him and he happily accepts, cupping your cheek with one hand to deepen it. You pull away slightly to mutter against his lips. “I’ll have to figure out a way to thank you later.”
A rumble emits from deep in Dave’s chest as his other hand slides down to cup your ass, earning a soft squeak from you as he squeezes. “I might have a couple ideas.”
You pull apart from each other as a shout from upstairs warns the impending arrival of Molly and Alice. You unpack the cheese and begin slicing it as the thunder of small feet spills down the stairs and into the kitchen. Dave steps forward and catches Alice in his arms as she runs in, followed closely by her sister, lifting her with an exaggerated groan as she squeals in excitement. “You’re getting too big for me, baby girl.”
You laugh and smile fondly at Dave interacting with his daughters. Carol enters and quietly offers to help you arrange the platter, careful not to interrupt the heartwarming scene in front of you. You start handing her pieces of cheese as Molly walks over and plops her chin on the countertop with a disappointed huff. “Awww, you found it.”
You scrunch your eyebrows and look up at her. “What do you mean, sweetheart?”
“I hid the cheese, but you found it anyway.”
This catches Dave’s attention as he looks over, putting his hands on his hips in a typical dad stance. “Where did you hide it, Mol?”
The young girl crosses to the fridge but opens the door to the freezer instead. She digs to the back of the bottom drawer and emerges with a rock-solid brick of feta cheese. “Right here.”
Carol’s jaw falls open in surprise. You press your lips together, stifling a laugh. Dave stutters out, “W-why…why would you put it there?”
Molly shrugs, unconcerned. “Because it’s gross and I didn’t want it.”
You burst into a fit of giggles at the innocent statement and Alice joins in. Carol simply sighs and drops her head in exasperation before devolving into soft laughter as well. Dave, meanwhile, still stands with his hands on his hips, blinking repeatedly as he tries to comprehend his daughter’s words.
He finally looks over at you incredulously and you try to smother your amusement for his sake, but the look on his face is too priceless and only makes you laugh even harder.
“Happy Father’s Day?”

~Too old for this s**t~
Tumblr media
Pairing:Melissa Schemmenti x Reader
Gender: hurt, fluff.
Warnlings : (+18) strong words, mention of sex, vulgar language .
Summary:Because of Melissa's insecurities, she ends up breaking off her relationship with you, hurting both of you in the process.
The sound of the alarm began to wake you up, it sounded distant, soft. All you wanted to do was go back to sleep. Your body felt so warm, comfortable, it was where it belonged, in the arms of your girlfriend Melissa. Her hands were hugging your waist, still fast asleep, you were hugging her torso with your face hidden between her breasts and your legs intertwined with her. It felt like you were sleeping on a cloud, in the sky itself, in paradise, away from all worries, the only thing around you and your senses was Mel's scent and the soft sound of her breath on the crown of your head. The alarm started to sound again, a little louder this time, making the redhead wake up barely opening her eyes, a soft laugh escaped from her mouth when she saw how much you had hidden your face between her breasts, she even wondered how it was that you could breathe
-"Good morning Principessa" - Mel spoke in a more rapturous voice than usual and saw how you snuggled more into her chest making her laugh - "Your breath tickles me hon, how is it that you're even breathing between my breasts?"
-"I can barely breathe, but I'd die happily if I died suffocated by your breasts" - you replied barely audible because you were squeezed in there and the redhead laughed again caressing your hair. She knew that mornings were difficult for you, so she took care of giving you affection a while early so that you would wake up in a good mood before having to go to school.
Although you didn't want to get up, like every morning, the eldest convinced you by saying that you would take a bath together, to which you happily agreed by filling the bathtub. The woman took it upon herself to continue giving you love, washing your hair, and kissing your back and shoulders as you bathed together.
You and Melissa had been dating for more than two years, she met you in a bar when she was on vacation, after that you kept talking and started a long-distance relationship, after a year and a half of constant travel and calls to see each other, you moved in with her, applying for a job at the school where she already worked, since you were also a teacher, of art, but a teacher like her. Mel was the one with the idea that you move there and apply for the job, which you didn't think much about and accepted since you would do everything to be by her side. The two of you agreed to leave the relationship outside the school, you thought it would be the wisest thing to do to avoid questioning the relationship, especially because of the age difference (which made the redhead very insecure). The only one who knew was Barbara, Melissa's best friend.
Moving in with her wasn't entirely easy, your parents weren't very happy when you introduced your partner, a woman a little more than twice your age. They expressed their displeasure when you said you would move in with her, but when they saw you so convinced they supported you, not quite, but they didn't get in the way either. Your family had a lot of money, which made Mel doubt why you were with her, you were young and well-moneyed, dating an older woman with a state professor's salary, that was odd for her. But when she saw how you imposed yourself on your parents just to go with her, she realized that it was love that you felt. But that didn't stop her from having insecurities from time to time.
Since you had moved, everything had gone well, the other teachers treat you well and the relationship with the redhead was perfect. Mel wasn't very affectionate or expressing her feelings much, but after spending so much time apart, she convinced herself that she would give you all the love and cuddles you wanted now that she had you by her side, which made you very happy because you were very clingy when you were alone with her.
After breakfast, the two of you drove to work, she in her car and you in yours so you wouldn't arrive together and raise suspicions. The only time you saw each other on a normal school day was during recesses or at lunch, and from time to time when it was turn to control the children's lunch break together. All the time you gave each other glances or comments with double meanings, which the others did not notice apparently, except for Barbara. However, today was a different day, it was open house day. Which meant that if parents or neighbors didn't go, you'd be spending a lot of time together in the staff room, playing something, or eating together with the others.
While you all expected no one to attend, this year the open house had quite a bit of support, making the school full of interested parents and families. Although Mel couldn't spend much time with you, being busy with students and parents in her class, she was watching you all day, especially as some mothers came over to talk or flirt with you, they were all women close to your age and striking in appearance. What made the redhead feel insecure, not jealous, insecure of the age difference and the state of her body, even though you reminded her how perfect she was all the time, her insecurities haunted her almost every night, especially when you fell asleep naked curled up close to her.
Coming home only fueled her insecurities, Ava had invited the younger ones to drink, that including you (although Ava was closer to Mel age than yours). Even though you said no, using the excuse that you already had other plans, the redhead felt bad. Many times there were things you didn't do because she wasn't invited with the younger ones, even though she insisted that you go anyway, you said that it wasn't the same if she wasn't there, that you didn't have fun in the same way, although she knew that the truth was that you didn't want your girlfriend to feel left out.
Melissa arrived a few minutes before you at the house and started cooking something for both of you, when you arrived, you hugged her from behind resting your chin on her shoulder and kissing her neck. You have been apart all day and all you wanted was a make-out session with the eldest. But she seemed to have her head elsewhere, ignoring you and almost burning the onion she was dephrying
-"Babe, are you okay?" - You asked, turning off the stove and gently taking her face in your hands for her to look at you. The redhead nodded so you wouldn't worry, but in truth her head was going a thousand miles an hour questioning a lot of things
-"Yeah, just a one long day, one of my kids isn't having a good atmosphere at home and that worries me" - She whispered and kissed your lips softly
-"Do you want us to talk about it? Maybe I could help you find a way to help them" - you said, stroking her cheek, smiling at how much she cared about her students. She shook her head
-"Not now, maybe tomorrow, now I want to finish cooking for us to eat something" -She replied and you shook your head knowing that if she was distracted, she was destined to burn something and that would only make her crankier or sadder. After convincing her, the two of you sat on the couch watching one of Mel's favorite movies while eating ice cream, you lying on her lap while she stroked your hair. If it weren't for the redhead's tear-filled eyes when she looked at you so relaxed and distracted, that would have been a normal night of caresses and tranquility. But throughout the movie, the redhead stared at you instead of the TV, thing you didn't realize, trying to memorize your face forever and wondering if what she was about to do was the right thing to do.
When the movie was over and so was the ice cream, the two went to bed. Like every night, you snuggled up hugging her, but her nervous breathing did not go unnoticed by you, she was about to cry and you knew it, so you sat on the bed in front of her holding her hands
-"My love, what's going on, I've never seen you so worried about a student"-you spoke affectionately caressing her hands and she could only avoid your gaze and sob a little
-"I'm so sorry..."—it was the only thing that made it out of her mouth and that confused you more
-Why? You don't have to apologize for being sad, we all have our days love."-You answered and Mel insulted herself for what she was about to do, you were so good, so perfect
-"This isn't about a student, it's about us. I... I'm so sorry but this isn't working anymore. We don't work anymore. It was fun at first but I don't feel the same way anymore, you're a nice distraction, but I need to find someone more mature and closer to my age. Someone with whom I have more shared experiences and understands me better"-Mel spoke as fast as she could, avoiding looking at you before her crying wouldn't let her talk anymore. She didn't mean anything she was saying, she would never find anyone more perfect for her than you, but she needed to leave you so that you can be happy and live your life to the fullest as you deserved, not ruining and wasting your youth by her side. Her heart sank as she felt you let go of her hands
-What are you talking about Melissa, what's really going on?" - You asked hurt and she didn't say anything or look at you -"Melissa Ann Schemmenti, look at me and tell me the truth, what's really going on?"
Melissa sighed and finally looked at you, she could see in your eyes the pain and anger she was causing you. But she knew she had to be quick and leave no doubt, this was the best thing for you. She was already grown up and had lived her life, she would feel satisfied if she died without having her happy ending as long as you lived your life and if you got a happy ending with someone who would be with you longer in your life than she could ever be.
-"There is no other truth, what you heard is the truth, I don't feel the same way about you or this relationship anymore, I think that coming to live together was a mistake, you should never have come, much less started a relationship, this had a start date, and from the beginning, it had an expiration date. We have a lot of age difference, this was never going to work, I think we both knew it but we ignored it because it was exciting at first, but that excitement is over now and I don't want to go on with this or with you, I'm sorry but it's over, I don't love you anymore and I can't pretend anymore that I do"-The last words came out just as a whisper as she saw the damage that she was doing to you, but time after time, she repeated herself that this was the best thing for you, even if it hurt, in the long run it would be the best thing. You got out of bed with your eyes full of tears, you couldn't believe what you were hearing, this wasn't your Mel, the only thing you prayed was that everything was a nightmare and you woke up soon. But the pain you felt, confirmed to you that this was all very real, even your legs were shaking as you walked to the door of the room-"Where are you leaving? Don't you have anything to say?" - Her words came out without thinking and she immediately regretted it when you turned around to face her
-"What do you want me to tell you, Melissa?"- You shrugged your shoulders confused, tears fell non-stop in your eyes and in hers-"What do you want me to tell you? That this wasn't how I imagined the night would end? That I love you? That I don't want you to leave me? That I pray to the heavens to awaken from this horrible nightmare? Nothing I can say is going to change what's going on"-You walked to the door of the room and sighed trying to calm your crying, turning your back to her, you spoke from the doorframe-"I'll go sleep on the couch, tomorrow I'll see where I can stay..."-Melissa wanted to interrupt you but you wouldn't let her.- "I'll sleep on the couch because if you do it, your neck hurts later...When I get a place to stay, I'll come pick up my stuff"-You said before you went downstairs to the living room to sleep or try to sleep, which you couldn't do because you spent all your time crying hugging yourself, asking why this was going on. Mel didn't sleep a bit either, crying and wishing that life hadn't been so unfair by bringing two people together with such a lifetime apart.
In the morning, the red-haired woman carefully went down the stairs not knowing what to do when she saw you, but when she reached the first floor, you were no longer there, neither you nor your car were at home.
After crying some more and taking a bath, she went to work, putting on a lot of makeup to cover up the large dark circles under her eyes.
Upon arrival, she went straight to her class, trying to avoid everyone, especially Barbara who could read her with just a glance.
At lunchtime, Melissa looked out the window of the teachers' break room, seeing how you were sitting in your car, staring into nothingness itself. She sighed with guilt and pain
-"Hey Melissa Did you bring food?" - Her friend spoke frightening the redhead, turning to look at her but avoiding her eyes she shook her head -"Let's buy then" - The older one spoke and looked at Melissa's side, as if looking for something or someone near or behind the redhead - "And (Y/N)? Where is she? Is she sick and didn't come? She never misses an opportunity to eat or spend time with you" -The last comment was added as they were alone in the break room, the redhead couldn't help herself and started crying silently avoiding her friend's gaze
-"She's in her car, I don't think she'll come to eat with us today... Or any other day. Last night I broke up with her and she kinda hates me now" - She whispered embarrassedly and her friend ran to hug her, confused and worried about her.
-"What did she do to you? You loved that kid. What did she do wrong for you to break up with her?" - Her friend asked, and the redhead laughed with pain in her heart
-"She didn't do anything wrong but the problem is in what you said, she is a child, with so much to live and enjoy, so many people to meet and so many things to do and I just... Because of me, she doesn't do many of the things she wants to do. I broke up with her so she can be happy, she can look for someone who can be with her in everything she wants, someone who doesn't have the same age as her mother, someone with the same age as her..."-The redhead sighed sadly, trying to control her crying and the eldest shook her head, she had never seen her friend this sad in all the years they had worked together
-"That girl loved you with all her being, I witnessed how she looked at you and admired you, but if you are sure that this is the best decision, I support you"-Barbara commented and then encouraged the redhead to eat something.
When the school day was over, Melissa looked outside for your car, but noticed that you were already gone. When she got home, his sadness increased when she noticed how you had taken advantage of her absence to take all your belongings from the house. The only thing that had remained was the immense emptiness, now the house looked very big, very quiet, very sad, just like her life without you.
A couple more days passed, where you avoided the redhead at all costs. Barbara tried to talk to you to find out how you were or where you were staying, you knew Melissa had sent her, it wasn't her fault to be in the middle of the two, but she barely managed to get a couple of words out of you before she stopped insisting and left.
Every day that passed was more painful, the harder it was to sleep alone or eat, and the harder it was to avoid the redhead. You barely crossed her when she came to pick up her students from your class, but you didn't even look at her, you couldn't do it without feeling how her words hurt you again.
A month passed since you left the house, another month living in a hotel, missing sleeping with her, sleeping lousy, eating worse, crying almost every night, not wanting to wake up or breathe anymore. One more month watching her out of the corner of your eye walk past you, spending the hours of break alone in your classroom or in the garden, trying to distract you from your tumultuous thoughts.
Today you were planning to avoid her as usual, but as soon as you opened the door to your classroom, she was in front of you, giving you no room to escape
-"What do you want Schemmenti?" - Your posture was tense, your eyes red and haggard, and your tone was dry, hurtful, and angry
-"Good morning..."-She whispered in pain when she saw you so sad, she knew it was her fault. She thought that by that time you would be better and determined to move forward, but you looked worse and worse, you looked like a ghost - "I wanted to know if we could talk a little..."
-"I don't have anything to say to you, I don't have time either, I'm too busy" - You responded dryly by trying to get her out of your classroom, avoiding touching her for fear that your "strong" façade would break, but she didn't move an inch
-"Please hon..." - she begged with those beautiful eyes that not to long ago made you drop to your knees for her. You were about to insult her and respond very badly, but you couldn't because a child entered class, although you smiled and greeted him, your smile did not reach your sad eyes, she knew you well enough to notice when you smiled with your eyes-"Please"- she insisted and you sighed, you knew that when something got into her head, it was hard for her to give up
-"We'll talk at recess, I have a class to teach now, so you can leave Schemmenti"- you replied without looking at her, arranging the things on your desk. The redhead smiled and left satisfied.
You always hated Thursdays, it was vending machine refill day, the man who did that job always flirted with Melissa, she always ignored him, but since you weren't together anymore, nothing stopped her. But you thought that maybe she would wait a little longer to start flirting with someone, especially at the school where you were, but you were wrong
-"I'll take you to a night you'll never forget, you and me, Dave & Buster's, huh? What do you think?" - The man said just as you were entering the break room, which made you burst out with a dry laugh as you saw him talking to Melissa. You knew the woman well, too well, to know that she liked fine and delicate things, she liked to be pampered, you knew the list of her favorite gifts and restaurants, Dave & Buster's was none of them. You came to give her a chance to talk, but when you heard the conversation, you hadn't heard much, but enough to stop wanting to talk to her again
-"Good idea Nick (you knew that wasn't his name, but he was flirting with your ex-girlfriend and that bothered you) is a very good idea, maybe when you get out of there you could take her to one of those cheap motels, where they make you sign a contract before entering in case you get bitten by a bug in their properties. I bet Schemmenti is going to be very happy, you're a real catch"-You spoke sarcastically by patting the man on the back before turning to look at the redhead, taking out the keys to the house and leaving them on top of her cell phone that was on the table. - "I hope you have a nice day and a beautiful and romantic date"- you said looking her in the eyes angrily before leaving the place.
Melissa looked at everything confused, the interaction, the keys, the man, her friend, the door where you had gone, everything had happened so fast. She grabbed the keys and went after you running down the hall
-"(Y/N)! Wait!" -She yelled in her thick accent but you didn't stop, wanting to get to your classroom to lock yourself in so you wouldn't have to listen to her, but just as you were about to enter she grabbed your arm causing you to freeze in place, even the slightest touch could bring back the most sinful memories- "Why did you give me your keys?"- she asked, watching as you turned to her and pulled your arm out of her grip
-"Because in case you don't remember, you broke up with me and we don't live together anymore, plus I wouldn't want to walk into the house one day only to find how the stupid guy is banging you against the counter"-You responded with your blood boiling, she's never seen you so angry
-"That's not what happened, the conversation started because Barb..."-The redhead wanted to explain, but she couldn't continue talking because you slammed the door in her face.
All the rest of the day, Mel tried to talk to you, but she couldn't.
At night the other teachers went out to drink and invited her, the redhead thought it would be a good idea to distract herself, but she regretted it immediately when she arrived at the place and you were already there, quite drunk, talking to one of the youngest teachers. She didn't know how much alcohol you had drunk, but it was noticeable that a lot, you were talking incoherently, dancing from time to time and you didn't even recognize your work partners well. The redhead was used to drinking, but you weren't, so what you had taken had not only been a lot, but it had hit you hard.
At the end of the night, Jacob, who had been with you most of the night, approached Melissa and Jannne a little bit nervous, well, more nervous than he already was
-"She's very drunk, she's asking me for her car keys but I won't give them to her to drive like that, but I don't know where she lives to take her either. She also wants me to take her to the zoo to steal a penguin so she can have someone to sleep with. You know that I like to help a strong and independent woman, but I don't know if there are penguins in the zoo, I never go because I don't like animal exploitation and the conditions in which they are keeping animals for our entertainment, I think it's very cruel..." - The young boy was talking non-stop and that made Mel's eyes roll, how he got a partner is still a mystery for her
-"I'll take her home"- The redhead volunteered, and the boy breathed a sigh of relief. When Mel grabbed your waist to take you from the bar to the car, she expected you to resist or insult her, but instead, you hugged her and hid around her neck breathing in her perfume, too drunk to remember why you were mad at her. Mel sighed sadly, she missed having you around, hugging you and being with you so much. After begging you for a bit, you told her where you were staying and she was able to take you to your room. The eldest was hurt to see that you were in a hotel, it's not that you didn't have money to pay for it, it hurt her that you hadn't gotten a space of your own and that you left the house to her without protesting, even though she was the one who had been at fault. You had let her be in the comforts of a home while you were in a hotel that didn't feel like home, your clothes were still in the boxes and suitcases, you hadn't even occupied the drawers and there were several containers of fast food on the trash, you weren't even eating well.
The redhead took off your shoes and helped you put on some more comfortable clothes and then watched as you curled up in bed. Not wanting to break into your space anymore, she said goodbye to leave, but your fragile voice stopped her
-"Can you stay for a while? - You whispered with pleading eyes, obviously you still didn't realize that you were angry with her -"I've been sleeping badly for a long time and it would really help me rest if you stay, I don't like being alone" - You pleaded looking so small, your words were clumsy because of the alcohol but your determination was strong. Mel barely smiled and sat on the bed next to you, her heart almost stopped when you lay on her chest and hugged her around the waist closing your eyes and smiling-"You know? I had a girlfriend who looked a lot like you"- you began to babble- "she's the most beautiful, intelligent, loving, perfect woman I've ever seen in my life... But she was too much of a woman for me and apparently I wasn't enough for her."- You said and sighed. Since you had separated you hadn't talked to anyone about this, if you talked to your family they would tell you that they told you so, your friends were far away living on another continent, your co-workers didn't know that you and Mel were dating, the only one who knew was Barbara and she was friends with Mel, so you didn't have anyone to talk to and your drunken brain was betraying you by making you say everything to her-"She told me that I was a distraction, that she didn't love me anymore. At first I didn't believe her, I thought she was telling me because of fears she sometimes had, but when I saw her flirting with someone else, it became clear to me that I was just a distraction to her if she already moved on, she was my whole word and I was just a toy. And you know what hurts me the most? That I can't hate her, that I love her more than the first day we kissed, that I keep dreaming about her, sleeping in her favorite shirt, that I miss kissing all her freckles, I miss making her laugh, I miss kissing her, I miss her food, her caresses, her body, I miss her and I love her so much it hurts..."
Mel could only hug you as you cried into her chest, she had hurt you so much she didn't know what to do, you didn't deserve any of this. You cried yourself to sleep, Mel covered you with a blanket and went home, she knew that if you woke up next to her in the morning, you would be angry and the moment would not be pretty.
The next day at school, Mel spoke to Barbara, doubting whether her decision had been the right one or not
-"I miss her, I miss being with her, listening to her funny comments or her intelligence, I miss cuddling, I miss seeing her laugh, I miss making her happy, I don't like to cause her pain... I miss how she challenged me, the movie nights, the nights of watching games, even though she didn't understand anything. The poker nights, she was good taking all my money, or the stripper poker... I think that's where she let me win to undress for me... God, how I miss touching her, her moans, her ass, that ass drove me crazy, I could have stayed and lived there... I miss sitting on her face and those things she did with her tongue... "-The redhead spoke desperately and nervously, she needed immediate help
-"I don't want any more details"—her friend interrupted her for everything she was saying-"The only thing this separation achieved is to make you both miserable. That girl loves you, she told you last night, she's told you since the moment you met. That young woman left her country and everyone she knew to live with you. She's with you out of love, because it can't be for money with the salary we have. She doesn't care about the age difference, she only cares about being with you and making you happy. With what your ex has made you suffer, when you get someone who makes you happy, you have to hold on to them with all your heart. You can't let fear guide your life Melissa"-Her friend gave advice, and the two of them watched as you walked straight into your classroom down the hallway - "Go talk to her before you end up tearing your hair out because of the frustration you're carrying."
The redhead nodded and ran out to your classroom, when you saw her, you sighed loudly
-"Schemmenti not now, my head is breaking from the hangover and I don't feel like arguing right now" - You spoke squeezing your eyes closed with the palms of your hands, trying to hide from the light coming through the window
-"I fucked up, I know and I'm so sorry, nothing I said was true. You were never a distraction, you've always been my whole life. I never stopped loving you, in fact, I love you more every minute that passes" -Melissa started talking non-stop, she needed to tell the whole truth and reverse the damage she had done to you, she couldn't let her fears make her lose the most important person in her life- "This month without you has been torture, I see you in every place at home, I see your absence in every aspect of my life. I miss the miracle of your caresses at dawn. I miss how your eyes, just by looking at me, can change my whole day. I miss going out to eat together, or when we watched movies or games at home, I miss fighting with you and have reconciliation sex, I miss everything about you, I miss you and I love you. I can't lose you, you're my whole life. I thought you'd be better off with someone your age, but I realized that because of my fears, I hurt both of us and I'll spend my whole life remedying the hurt I did to you if you'll let me. Whether it works or not, whether it's right or wrong, living it with you is the glory. Please forgive me, I can't live another day without you"-Mel watched as you got up from your desk and stood in front of her very seriously, she thought maybe you'd slap her, which she wouldn't stop because she deserved it
You are a very idiotic woman, how many times do I need to repeat to you that I don't care about the age difference, in fact, I love it. I'm still angry, but I forgive you, Because you're an idiot for sure, but that doesn't make me love you any less)-Mel smiled when she heard you and came closer to you but you stopped her - "It's going to cost you dearly to remedy this. You do something like that again and it's not going to end well for you, understood?" - You said with a raised eyebrow and Mel nodded, she was usually the one with the threats but she liked this side of you. You smiled looking into her eyes and kissed her slowly, feeling how the redhead put her hands on your hips and you put yours around her neck. How you missed her kisses, her scent, her whole being. You wanted the kiss to be tender but you had missed her too much to control yourself, so you bit her lip, drawing a gasp out of her. The redhead was easy to turn on and with desire she pressed you against the blackboard and her body, causing the air to leave your body by the force with which she did it. Taking advantage of that movement, she stuck her tongue into your mouth, so a moan escaped your lips
-"Hell girls! I always imagined that Melissa was kinky, but not that you were both like that! Damm!-Ava screamed from the hallway door, you sighed against Melissa's lips and hid in her neck, playing with her necklaces, covering yourself from the principal's view. Her scream attracted the other teachers who were there, surprised at how the redhead had you in her grip, only making your cheeks turn red from embarrassment
-"Melissa! (Y/N)! You're in school for God's sake! The children could arrive at any time. I know I told you to reconcile, but not to have a make-out session here in the middle of the classroom! - Barbara spoke and the other teachers looked at her in surprise when they heard the implication that you were already dating before.
Melissa gently caressed your waist and kissed your forehead, happy that everyone already knew you were together, happy to be back together
-"Please come back home with me hon"-she whispered in your ear and you nodded hiding more in her neck while she hugged you.

some disjointed thoughts about Nemesis and Melinoë (and Hecate and mommy issues)
I’ve been having lots of thoughts about the dynamic between Nemesis and Melinoë, and by extension both of their dynamics with Hecate. Hades 2 technical test spoilers to follow, obviously
First let’s talk about Hecate and Melinoë. Hecate raised Melinoë! She cares about her! But their relationship is not healthy by any means. Hecate is the only parent Melinoë has ever known, but out of loyality to Persephone she refuses to be Melinoë’s mother, and very harshly pushes back on the idea when Melinoë even suggests that she views Hecate in a maternal way. (Notice the difference to how Nyx treats Zagreus, and says he will always be her child.) Hecate raised Melinoë in a very militaristic way, for the obvious reason that they are at war, but isn’t it kind of nuts how even when playing hide and seek with very small child Melinoë, she frames their playtime in the context of hunting and killing titans? Enter Melinoë’s desperate need for approval. Yeah, it’s cruel when Nemesis says that killing Chronos “isn’t personal enough” for Mel. Unfortunately, she is right. Throughout the techtest, Melinoë continuously questions herself and other characters on how to keep up the motivation to save a family she has never known. She struggles deeply with this. My impression is that at this point, she is fighting To Make Hecate Happy. She is constantly vying for (and getting!) her teacher’s approval. She doesn’t question Hecate almost ever, and that’s in fact Bad for Melinoë. Melinoë needs to kill Chronos for Herself, and she’s simply not there yet.
Now, I noticed two things that made my alarm bells ring in regards to Melinoë, Nemesis and Hecate. Nemesis very clearly cares about Melinoë, even her digs at Melinoë are poorly disguised concern for her. She’s worried about Melinoë being sent out on her own by Hecate, she thinks Melinoë is a pushover to Hecate (she’s right), and she lets Melinoë call her “Nem”, even when they are fighting, without a comment. Meanwhile Hecate Hates Nemesis. She cannot deal with Nemesis questioning her judgement and expects complete obedience from her because of a pact she made with Nyx, while at the same time wishing she hadn’t made the pact because she cannot stand Nemesis to the point of wanting to throw her out of the encampment completely. Now this sucks for Nemesis of course, but what concerns me More, is how Hecate speaks to Melinoë about Nemesis.
Hecate actively discourages Melinoë from even cordially talking to Nemesis, to the point of acting disgusted when Melinoë uses her keepsake. Odysseus asks Melinoë to “smooth things over” between Nemesis and Hecate, implying Melinoë has in the past had to go between them. Hecate doesn’t respect Nemesis as a person, because Nemesis doesn’t respect her as an authority (nemesis still obeys Hecate, just not in a way Hecate likes)
I’ll write up these thoughts in more detail at some point but for now I want to leave you with this thought that made me sad: Characters constantly tell Melinoë she looks just like her mother and express pity and concern for her. Have you seen Nemesis? Do you think anyone has told Her how she looks like her mother? Of course Nemesis needs to keep reiterating her stakes in this struggle, because Hecate sure isn’t acknowledging them.

kissing lessons: 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis: it was like she’d never left as you settled back into friendship, but how you wished there was more to it.
song: kissing lessons - lucy dacus
pairing: college!ellie x reader
warnings: nothing??
a/n: getting juicy now 😊😊
part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4
Tumblr media
“move in with me.”
was she crazy? you couldnt just move in with her.
“im sorry?”
ellie laughed, you looked at her like she was crazy. “move in with me! ive got an apartment like 10 minutes from here.”
“ellie, respectfully, i haven’t seen you for a decade, and you think im just gonna move in with you to an apartment ive never seen? that you don’t even live in?” you stood up, arms crossed over your chest and paced. “and, even if i wanted to, im still 17, i dont turn 18 until september. i cant just move out. my mom would, like, i don’t know… she’d probably call the police.”
ellie smiled was you through out every possibility under the sun. “she’d disown me. take back my car. she pays for it, not me. and i don’t know if my job even pays enough for me to pay rent.” your threw your hands in the air and finally saw ellie’s small laugh. “what are you laughing at?”
she shrugged, pulling you back down to her bed. “i don’t even move in until the end of september. and only someone who was considering it would come up with all that in two minutes.” she sighed when you rolled your eyes at her. “you keep rolling those eyes and they’re gonna get stuck.”
“oh my god, shut up.” she watched you try to hide a smile.
ellie couldn’t help but wonder about you even as you sat in front of her. what did you love and what did you hate? what made you tick? did you remember everything she taught you in her old room? on the mattress you sat on now. how to kiss, and how to get cole or justin or whatever guy had a crush on you.
she wondered what you wanted to do in life. who you were friends with at school. if you wanted to kiss her as much as she wanted to kiss you. like old times.
your heads both turned as the street lights flicked on.
“i better get going.”
“stay for dinner.”
your voices overlapped before silence.
“okay.”
ellie smiled, getting up and holding a hand out to you. you took and she pulled you up but didn’t let go as she led you back downstairs.
god it was gonna be hard to be just friends.
Tumblr media
“so,” joel sat down his fork and looked at you. “have you thought about college? where you wanna go? what you’d like to study.”
you nodded, copying joel and putting down your own fork. “yeah, i was planning to stay here actually. instate tuition and all that.” you took a sip of water before continuing. “i think i’d like to be a teacher? maybe. i just know i want to work with kids.”
“wouldn’t even have to learn about them, considering you are one,” ellie teased. you kicked her shin under the table. “ow, fuck.”
“ellie no cursing at the dinner table.” joel winked at you as ellie scoffed. “what’s happened since we’ve been gone?”
you sat back in your chair, thinking about everything of sustenance. “honestly nothing. it’s incredibly boring.” you gasped as you remembered. “mel got pregnant last year.”
ellie nearly spit out her food. “no way.” you nodded, picking up your fork again. “with who? what’d her parents do?”
“owen.” ellie gasped as you nodded. “who, mind you, at the time was dating abby.”
“good god.” joel stood up, taking his plate with him. “thats enough for me.” you and ellie laughed as he left.
ellie cleared her throat as you took a bite. “20 questions?” you nodded and set down your fork before getting comfortable. “favorite song?”
you hummed, “kyoto, phoebe bridgers.” ellie nodded approvingly. “favorite movie?”
“the outsiders.” you groaned and ellies jaw dropped. “excuse me? whats your favorite then?”
“practical magic, duh.” you smirked as she rolled her eyes. “you keep rolling those eyes and they’re gonna get stuck.” you echoed her comment from earlier.
“you’re so annoying.” ellie flicked a pea at you.
you threw one back, hitting her forehead. “favorite book?”
she thought for a moment before she answered. “catcher in the rye.”
“good one.” she nodded. “wanna get slushies?”
ellie bolted up with a smile, “god i thought you’d never ask.”
Tumblr media
“i can’t believe you dont get cherry and blue raspberry.” you shouldered ellie as you walked back to your car.
ellie scoffed. “i can’t believe you do.” she pulled at the passenger door. “unlock the car.” you got in, closing your door and locking it. “angel.”
you smiled at her and turned on music, singing along between sips. ellie walked around to your window and knocked. your pretended to be shocked, turning down the radio and rolling down the window. “what can i do for you this fine evening?”
ellie leaned her arms on the car door with an innocent smile. “can i kiss you?”
“what?” your face and mind blanked long enough for ellie to unlock the door and pull it open. you barely realized before she was clambering over you to the passenger seat. “oh fuck you.”
ellie gasped, “how unladylike. you just sip your slushy and get me home safely,” she teased as she buckled her seat belt.
you fought the urge to roll your eyes as you shut your door and put the car in reverse.
how badly you wanted to have said yes.

hades 2 conversation dialogue my sister and i found interesting
SPOILERS obviously. my sister has been failing her runs on purpose to get more dialogue out of people. this post discusses dialogue that was not in the developer stream.
on hermes (mel and hecate are speaking about hermes and artemis at the start):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
on melinoë, artemis, and the olympians:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
on why mel is the only one who can kill chronos:
Tumblr media
on hecate & mel's relationship:
Tumblr media
on a secret order that mel is apart of:
Tumblr media
on mel's job at the crossroads:
Tumblr media
tension and secrets in the crossroads!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
when you give hypnos nectar:
Tumblr media
(i wasn't fast enough to get his reply. hypnos says something like "zzzz... welcome to the.... zzzz"), then mel says:
Tumblr media
other things i didnt screengrab:
hypnos: mel can remark to charon that hypnos is still asleep, charon says "arrghhh," and mel says "wait, he's of more use this way...?" possibly implying hypnos's sleep is not what it seems
nemesis: is uhhh kind of really mean!!!! she says something to mel along the lines of "you're upset you lost a family you don't remember? i KNEW my mom, all you did was be born"
moros: you can invite moros to the crossroads and he stands near the fated list far from everyone because nobody wants to talk to doom incarnate (odysseus in particular makes a point to say he'll stay away). iirc he introduces himself as "the bearer of bad news" which i find kind of clever but also a bit sad. if you give him nectar iirc he says nobody has given him a gift/offering before. aphrodite also notes that moros has made mel's acquaintance and calls him good-looking.
hephaestus: he criticizes your weapon's workmanship when you first meet him, then later takes it back and compliments it as very good, and says "just don't go spreading it around" to the olympians.
takeaways:
hermes is "missing" but he's on a mission for the war to find out what chronos is scheming
artemis (and hermes) didn't tell the olympians hecate has been raising a titan-killer (mel) and the olympians don't really believe she can do it but send her boons anyway, presumably figuring why not
only mel can enter the house of hades to challenge chronos, so that's why she needs to make this journey alone
hecate is rather sweet and mentorly with mel, but she gets exhausted and irritated when mel doubts herself. i didn't grab it but there's a bit where mel says if hecate had not held back, she knows she would've lost, and hecate snaps "you know?" asking mel why she puts limits on herself
mel, hecate, selene, and artemis are part of a secret order called the silver sisters that hermes also supports. olympus does not know about it. all these gods (save hermes) also have moon iconography in their designs
pretty sure moros will be romanceable. i think his and mel's interactions are very sweet, and aphrodite notes he's arrived and calls him good-looking, which reminded me of how she commented on thanatos to zag. no idea who might be a female romance option yet (i'm assuming there is one)
hephaestus boons are a lot of fun, per my sister
the big one: HECATE AND NEMESIS KNOW SOMETHING WE DON'T??? hecate maybe knew an attack was coming and didn't do anything?? nyx is also confirmed to basically be not around though we don't know where she is. and hecate is something called a handmaiden??? is she meant to serve nyx? it now seems like the children of nyx are meant to serve hecate, and eris isn't doing that, but nemesis is playing guard duty begrudgingly. so maybe nemesis thinks hecate let the house be captured/destroyed for her own ends, possibly also to get nyx out of the picture, so nyx's children would serve her(?). maye nyx is also a silver sister and hecate is now in command at the crossroads/on earth, second only to selene?

Tumblr media
You’ve been waiting for Friday all week. You need this. A girl’s night, just you and Melanie, a bottle of wine, a bowl of popcorn, and your favourite nostalgic blockbuster. You even got a brand new pair of cozy jammies for the occasion.
And it’s your first official get together at your new apartment. Your very own. No more roommates, no more arguments over dishes and dust and a shared bathroom. It’s all yours! It’s almost like a housewarming, even if it is just a bachelor suite.
A new home, a new city, and an old friend. You haven't seen Melanie in years. You keep in touch here and there but she always seems to have so much going on. Now you're in the same place, it won't be so hard.
You bounce in the door, excited to get started on your prep. You leave your work bag in the entryway beside your shoes as your mind runs a mile ahead of you. You’ll fold out the futon couch and throw all your pillows on it. And the extra comforter can go on top. And you’ll put a scarf over the lamp, oh, and you got some candy for the spread.
It’s a bit childish but it’s been so long since you could just throw away your daily toil and forget. No overtime, no grind, just a night to reconnect and refresh. You grab your bag from the short hallway and take out the clay masks you bought at the drugstore on your way home, you thought that would be so cute!
You pull out your phone and search for the digital rental on your account, wanting it ready to cast as soon as Melanie’s there. Your screen suddenly lights up with an incoming call, interrupting your browsing. You answer, excitedly greeting your best friend.
“Melly Bean,” you chime, “I was just getting everything ready–”
“Oh, really?” Her voice is willowy, “that’s… I’m sorry.”
“What?” You clutch your hand in front of your stomach, your chest filling with dread. You know that tone.
“I totally forgot and I made other plans–”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, I know, it’s shitty but I really can’t cancel and we can do it next week, right? I’ll host. I have a bottle of rose here, or I could make some sangria–”
“Uh, yeah,” you feel like you’ve been punched, “yeah, sure, that’s… that’s fine. Things happen.” You shake your head at yourself as you try to stem your disappointment, “good thing I didn’t even get started…” You look at the futon, covered in pillows and the fluffy pink duvet, “I actually just got in the door, long day at work–”
“You ready?” A distant, deep voice creeps under your rambling from the speaker.
“Sorry, I gotta go,” she interrupts, “I’ll call you tomorrow, okay? Again, I’m sorry. I’m so stupid. I should’ve put it in my calendar.”
“No, no, it’s fine,” you assure her softly, “call me. Talk later, Mel–”
The line dies before you can finish your sentence. You pull the phone away and frown at the timed out call. You sniff and toss it onto the futon. Well, you can still have a good night. Alone. Catch up on a show and pamper yourself. Your skin is getting a bit patchy.
Or just lay here and watch the same thing you watch every night. Suddenly, you have no energy. You flop onto the mattress, the metal frame creaking loudly, and sigh. Another lazy night, all by yourself.
🏙️
Melanie doesn't answer your call on Saturday. You try not to dwell on it but you know she's not working. Her nine-to-five keeps her planted at her desk Monday to Friday, just like you. Well, you can't be mad at her for having a life.
She texts on Sunday. Just a short but sweet confirmation for next Friday. A heart emoji along with a promise that you'll see each other then. You can bring all your snacks and the face masks, and even your cute new pajamas. Her place must be a lot nicer than yours on her executive assistant salary.
A new week begins but Monday isn't as difficult as usual. You have something to look forward to. Again. This time, it will actually happen.
You spend your days with the spreadsheets and menial reports. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday all blend together into an endless slog but Friday comes around with a special shine. It's the day.
You breeze through the day, lighter than usual. You even packed everything up so you could commute straight to Melanie's place. She's been texting, saying she's excited. Well, she sent a message at 10:38am.
It'll be just like in high school, when you sat up all night and giggled. Except this time, you're not too young for the movie you're watching. No, you'll be just like the metropolitan women you watched on the screen, gal pals!
You take the twelve out towards the east side of the city and get off a few blocks from her building, at least according to your GPS. You walk in a full circle before you get your bearings and end up just outside the grated door. You tap the small button to buzz her number and wait. It's a lot fancier than your apartments.
You ring several times without answer, your stomach swimming with nerves. What if she got caught up in something? Could she forget in the  eight hours since her last message? Are you in the wrong place? You check the address again.
You hear someone come up the walkway and sidle aside to let them in. You consider sneaking in after them but you don't know if you should. They might not like that or you might get in trouble. You stand back as the man glances at you and gives a nod. He keys in a code and buzzes himself in. You scrunch your lips, helplessly floundering on the edge of the steps.
"Coming in?" He holds the door.
"Oh, uh," you catch the handle, "sure, I just... my friend wasn't answering."
"No worries, don't look like much of a criminal to me," he kids.
You chuckle quietly, forcing it out nervously as you follow him inside. The entryway is white with silver trimmings and the lobby opens up to a set of two elevators. You look at your phone again, confirming Melanie's apartment number. The man strides on confidently and hits the button, the doors dinging and sliding apart.
"Going up?" He prompts as he puts his hand in front of the censor.
"Uh, sure," you scurry forward. You suppose taking the stairs might be a lot with all the weight in your knapsack.
"Floor?" He trails you into the elevator.
"Um, seventh."
"Ah, what a coincidence," he taps seven and the doors close.
You bring up your chat with Melanie and text her. Hopefully, you're not too early. You don't want to surprise her. You key in that you're there and on your way up.
The door open again and the stranger once more lets you through first. You check the numbers on the plates on the wall; 700 - 710 to the right. You turn and the man heads in the same direction. How awkward. You hold the door to the hallway for him and he catches it, not far behind you. You count the doors until you find 704.
You stop and knock, stepping closer to let the stranger pass. He doesn't. He stops and laughs as he rubs his palms together. You peek over at him. Oh shoot, you have to be in the wrong place. It explains the no answer and you're standing at his door knocking. You must seem like a crazy person--
The door opens before you can figure out what's going on and Melanie's 'hello' goes from a high squeal to dull disappointment. You look at her as her eyes flit between you and the stranger at your shoulder. She laughs and tosses her hair back.
"Oh, uh, come in," she waves you inside, "movie night, right?"
She rubs her neck as she steps aside, your stomach flipping entirely. Did she forget? Really?
"Um, I forgot to mention..." she says slowly, "Clark's joining us. He's never seen the movie before so I thought..."
"That's fine, but er, I can... just go. I thought..."
"I didn't forget," she insists as the man enters with hesitation, "promise, I just... invited my boyfriend."
"Right, boyfriend," you turn to the stranger, Clark, she said his name is, "hi."
You introduce yourself and he repeats his name. He's handsome and tall. As far as you can tell, he's nice too. The cleft in his chin gives him a rugged handsome news and his eyes a bright and blue. He fits Melanie perfectly. She's changed a lot more than you knew.
You give a strained smile and look around. Her apartment is so nice. You're happy she hadn't seen yours after all. As you try to figure out what to do, she approaches Clark and stands on her toes to kiss him. You keep your eyes on the floor and turn, distracting yourself with your shoes as you peel them off.
"I brought snacks," you say as you unhook your bag from one shoulder, "for the movie--"
"Oh, I'm on a diet. No carbs, no sugar... mostly water and lettuce," she trills, "sorry."
"I...It's okay," you try not to wince as you struggle to free yourself of the heavy bag.
"Here," Clark startles you as he grabs your bag by the handle on top and helps lift it off your left shoulder. You pull your arms free and he carries it to the table, planting it on top beside the tall vase of white orchids.
"Thanks," you say as you inch forward, anxious about messing up the unlivable pristine apartment, "you can share the snacks... if you're not on a diet."
"I'd love to," he accepts, "should I make up the couch?"
"Uh, sure," Melanie flutters her fingers at him, "I guess that makes sense."
You notice how she bites into her glossy lower lip and looks around desperately. She's wearing a pretty black dress and there's a sparkly clutch on the half-circle table by the wall. You thought Melanie would be your one piece of home in the city but now you feel even more out of place. Uninvited.
"If it's a bad time," you begin.
"I told you," she snips, "I didn't forget. Duh, you think I'm an airhead or something?"
"N-no--"
"I know you went and got your fancy degrees," she sniffs, "but I don't need paper to tell me I have a brain."
"I didn't mean--"
"Mel, cool it," Clark chuckles lightly, "no biggie. I like a night in," he shrugs, "I'll grab some blankets and pillows. We can have a sleepover."
"Sleepover?" She nearly hisses at him, "well, tomorrow--"
"We'll all sleep in and I'll take you ladies to breakfast. Or brunch," he unzips your knapsack and takes out the tall bottle of wine, "depending on how much you indulge."
"Oh, I can take care of all that," you offer as you near the table.
"You're our guest," he insists as he holds onto the bottle, "hon, you wanna get some glasses?"
You hear the gentle sigh escape Melanie before she replies, "fine."
You wring your hands in front of your chest and hover by the table. You hate this. You feel like you've intruded on their night but you thought...
Your heart sinks as you think of the message; 'looking forward to tonight'. She sent it to the wrong person. She must realise that too.
"Mel will pour us some wine," Clark says loudly, "did you wanna help my grab some blankets and stuff?"
You just nod, thankful for his diversion. Anything to keep you from wallowing in your embarrassment. Everyone there knows you're not supposed to be there. You must seem pathetic.
You follow him down the hall and wait on the other side of the closet door as he opens it. He hands you a folded down duvet. He sends you back to the living room as he goes to grab pillows from the bedroom. You get a glance of the sleek white vanity just as he opens the door.
You turn and traipse back to the front room. You go to the couch and shake out the blanket. You glance over as Melanie slurps loudly from a stemmed glass, the other two are unpoured.
"Really, Mel, I can just go--"
"No, it's fine," she huffs, "I don't want him to think I'm some sort of bitch."
"Oh, I wasn't--"
"You don't call to confirm?" She accuses.
"I texted and I buzzed--"
She shushes you as she hears Clark coming back down the hall. You leave the blanket across the sofa and go to the table. You pour the other two glasses and step back, too uneasy to claim one of your own. Instead, you busy yourself unpacking the snacks but you don't even know if you'll have any yourself.
"You girls sit," Clark insists as he drops the pillows on the sofa, "I'll get everything ready. Oh, hon, you should go put some pajamas on, get in the spirit. You could lend some to your friend too."
"Erm, I brought my own," you offer, "just... thought they were cute."
"Amazing, you two get changed, get cozy, and get the movie going," he grabs the bag of chips from your hands, "oh, and I'll get those kernels popping."
You nod and swallow as Melanie struts out without looking back. You retrieve your pajamas from your bag, brushing close to Clark by accident, and apologise. You quickly flit away to follow her, chasing after her right before she can close you out. You need to find an excuse to get out. Then you can think of how to say sorry for spoiling her date,

My Irish Girl
Anon asked for a fic where Mel and r celebrate St. Paddy's! Not edited in the slightest because I wanted to make sure I got it out before the day is over!
WC: ~2.3k
Tumblr media
Melissa and you have been together for just about a year, and coming up was your holiday: St. Patrick’s day. As an Irish woman, you were delighted to tell her about all of the different traditions that you loved to do back in your homeland before moving here. You were more than excited to partake in some of the American traditions as well.
“So, why do we wear green for St. Paddy’s?” your girlfriend asks you as the two of you roam around Walmart, chuckling at the different apparel that was set out for the upcoming holiday.
“Wearing green makes you invisible to the leprechauns… the mischievous things- going around pinching those who aren’t wearing green,” you chuckle.
She hums. “Good thing I look good in green then.”
“Damn right you do,” you grin as you kiss her cheek.
You continue to peruse the aisles, throwing various things that you need for your living space together, as well as a few little trinkets for the holiday. It’s the usual things that you throw in- four-leafed clover glasses, a few festive shot glasses, the ingredients to make irish potatoes and the dinner that the two of you will be having on the day of corned beef and cabbage.
You’re heading for the checkout with the cart when you realize Melissa isn’t following you anymore. No, she’s stopped in front of the shirts that are there for the Irish day.
“Look!” she grins. The redhead is holding up one of those shirts that says, ‘Kiss me, I’m Irish!’ on it in a font that looks quite similar to the Lucky Charms cereal font.
“I think people know I’m Irish just by looking at me,” you roll your eyes playfully as you gesture to your clearly natural ginger hair and freckles. “And if they can’t tell by looking at my complexion, when I talk, they definitely know.”
Your girlfriend shrugs. “I’m buying it anyway.” She throws it in the cart before taking it from you and steering it towards the checkout area.
She pays for it, of course she does (always spoiling you), and the two of you head home to make some of the treats you want to make for your students.
You’re in the middle of mixing together the cream cheese and butter for the Irish potatoes when your mother calls you.
Immediately, you switch into your native tongue as you pick up the phone, balancing it between your ear and your shoulder as you continue to beat together the ingredients.
Your girlfriend looks over to you, still in awe at the fact that you are bilingual. The conversation is short, mostly just explaining to your mom that you’re doing just fine out in Philly, that yes you are still going to church and are celebrating St. Paddy’s day. You also let her know that Melissa says hello, and that the two of you are quite looking forward to coming out to visit during your Summer vacation.
“Hi, Esther,” your girlfriend pipes up as she settles behind you and wraps her arms around your waist, setting her chin on your free shoulder.
Your mother switches to English, greeting Melissa kindly. “Hello, dear. Are you taking care of my daughter?”
“Mam,” you groan. “I already told you that we are doing just fine over here.”
“You know I have to check,” you can practically hear your mother’s smirk.
“I’m taking care of her just fine,” Melissa promises. “We’re in the middle of making Irish potatoes for the kids at school as we speak.”
“Oh, how lovely. I suppose I’ll let you go, but give me a holler on St. Patrick’s day- preferably before you decide to get intoxicated with that blasted green alcohol,” your mother tells you.
“Will do, Mam,” you roll your eyes. “I love you, and I’ll talk to you soon.”
“Bye, Esther,” Melissa singsongs.
“Chat later,” your mother says. “Love to you both.”
The two of you finish making the sweets for your students before settling on the couch.
“So tell me more about your own traditions,” your girlfriend requests as you take a sip from your wine glass.
You do. Your eyes light up as you tell her what your family used to do, and how you’re quite thrilled to be able to share the traditions with her- even if some of them are silly.
“What do you usually do?” you ask her.
“Get piss drunk,” the faux redhead grins. “Go down to all the skanky dive bars and drink some green beer to pregame the parade.”
“And what do you do with the kids?” you roll your eyes. “I kind of assumed that was what you did.”
“Oh,” she laughs. “Sometimes we make leprechaun traps, I’ll put a few gold coins around the classroom, and whoever finds them gets a prize. They usually all get a baggie of Lucky Charms… and sometimes I dye the toilet water green in the morning and tell the kids that I guess we were struck.”
“That’s cute,” you say as you snuggle into her. “I’m sure they love it.”
“They have for the last… however many years I’ve been teaching at this point,” she sighs. “But I’m sure this year, they’ll all be more excited when you bring in the potatoes and when you teach them the basics of Irish dance.”
“Oh, god,” you groan. “Don’t remind me that Ava practically blackmailed me into doing that.”
“I think it’ll be good. The kids like interactive stuff… you see how they still talk about Tariq and his short lived career with F.A.D.E.”
“I guess,” you roll your eyes.
Your girlfriend is right. The kids are delighted to learn from you and learn about you and your country. You don’t think you’ve ever seen their eyes light up the way they did when they each got a few of the potatoes you and Melissa made last night.
You teach them a few steps, and they love it.
“This is so cool, Ms. Y/N,” one of your sweet students tells you.
St. Patrick’s Day at school comes to an end, and the two of you go out to happy hour with your crew to celebrate a successful school wide holiday.
The Philly streets are already in the spirit, with green painting the town. Most are wearing their Eagles gear to get into the green spirit, and a chorus of ‘Go birds!’ can be heard at any given time as you walk through the streets with your girlfriend and work friends.
You find your usual little pub and order a round. The beers are already dyed green.
“So, what are your plans for this holiday?” Janine asks you.
You wrap an arm around Melissa as you speak, “Get hammered? Make dinner drunk, and then show up to church on Sunday hungover as hell?”
“Sounds about right,” Gregory rolls his eyes.
Saturday morning rolls around, and you and Melissa get ready to head out for the day. You bought those little shamrock tattoos and place one on each of your cheeks before grinning.
“My Irish girl,” Melissa grins as she kisses you softly.
“We should probably call my mom now before we go out,” you chuckle. “We can do it while we get ready.”
You dial her, greeting her in your native language before switching back to English. You and the redhead chat with her for a few minutes, also getting to say hello to your father, before she lets you go to ‘participate in juvenile activities’.
Melissa has all of her eagles gear on, complete with the jersey that she has signed by Jalen Hurts, and you have on the ridiculous shirt that the redhead threw into the cart at Walmart.
You head down to the pub the two of you frequent, and while it’s busy as hell, even for 10:30 in the morning, you’re able to get seated due to the staff knowing you.
Melissa looks away from you to order you a Guinness and her a Yuengling before spinning back around to look at you. She pecks your lips quickly.
While it’s not unwelcome, you do raise a brow. She’s not usually so big on PDA.
“Your shirt,” she chuckles.
Your bartender hands her the drinks and then she turns back around and kisses you again.
“I think I see how today is going to play out,” you chuckle. The two of you clink glasses and chug your first beers.
By the time the parade starts at noon, it’s safe to say that both you and your girlfriend are intoxicated. She’s yelling ‘Go birds!’ at anyone she sees who is also clad in Eagles gear, and there are a lot of people wearing the football team apparel. She holds your hand tightly as you roam the streets around city hall trying to find the best spot you can to watch the parade.
The two of you are delighted to watch as the parade goes on around you. You spend the next hour and a half smiling and laughing so hard your faces are red. Each time she turns away from you and turns back to you, she kisses you- and the more intoxicated she is, the harder she kisses you. There’s something in the back of your mind that tells you at some point today, you’ll end up in bed.
There’s only one hiccup during your outing. Melissa has let go of your hand and is doing her best to sound as sober as possible when one of her old students comes up and gives her a hug. She’s engaged in conversation with the child for a bit, and when she turns around, there is a man who is very clearly trying to hit on you. His lips are puckered, and he’s telling you that he’s just trying to follow the directions on your shirt.
“Hey, asshole, she’s very much spoken for,” Melissa shoves him away from you.
The man stumbles slightly. “Her shirt says to kiss her.”
“I’m the only one who gets to kiss her,” your girlfriend says as she pushes him again. “If you wanna try again… well, fuck around and find out.”
He backs away with his hands raised in surrender, and before he can turn around to run, Melissa’s lips are on your own. She kisses you deeply, throwing up her middle finger in the direction of the guy as she dips you just slightly.
When she pulls away, your cheeks are flushed, and her eyes are filled with lust.
“C’mon. Let’s get out of here.”
You follow her quickly as you head back in the direction of your apartment.
“Fucking asshole thinks he can get my girl,” the second grade teacher grumbles. “No way in hell.”
“Hun, it’s fine. I could’ve handled it myself,” you tell her as you squeeze her hand gently. “But it’s nice to know that you would fight a man in my honor.”
“Like hell,” she tells you. “Ain’t no way anyone else is gettin’ my girl.”
As soon as you’re inside your apartment, she has you pinned up against the door. Once again, her lips are on yours aggressively, and her hands quickly roam to other parts of your body. She squeezes gently, and you have to bite back a moan when she bites down on your neck. She grabs you by the thighs and lifts you up, taking you back into your bedroom.
By the time the two of you are finished, you’re breathing heavily. That was… wow.
“C’mon, baby,” she whispers as she holds you close. “We gotta start making dinner.”
“I’m gonna need some time to gain feeling in my legs,” you sigh out.
She chuckles as she kisses you softly- much more softly than she was earlier. “That’s fine. I’ll get it started.”
When you finally catch your breath again and the shaking in your legs subside, you make your way out of the bedroom. You still have your ‘Kiss me, I’m Irish’ shirt on, but you have her denim shirt on overtop of it and a pair of her shorts.
“Damn, baby,” she licks her lips. “You come out looking like that and expect me to be able to focus on dinner?”
You roll your eyes and head back into the bedroom before returning wearing a pair of sweatpants. She pouts, but that quickly goes away when you wrap your arms around her waist and kiss her cheek.
“What all have you done?”
“Gotten a beer,” she says cheekily as she cranes her neck to kiss you.
You roll your eyes. “I was in the bedroom for like forty minutes.”
“Okay,” she sighs before confessing, “So I had two beers while I looked at the pictures I took of you. Sue me for getting distracted by my gorgeous girlfriend.”
“Get the cabbage,” you swat her away from you. “And grab me a beer, please?”
“Yes, ma’am,” she grins as she kisses you again.
Dinner is delightful, and the two of you drink a few more beers before heading out again to meet up with the Abbott crew, aside form Barbara and Gerald. You end up getting absolutely hammered, chugging green beer after green beer with your girlfriend.
By some grace of God, the two of you get home without Melissa getting into a bar fight for all of the creepy men trying to hit on you.
That outing ends much like the first outing earlier in the day. But after, she holds you close and the two of you drift to sleep.
The next morning is brutal, both of you hungover as hell and promising you’ll never drink again (until the next time you decide to drink). You both get ready for church, moaning and groaning the entire time as you drink pedialyte and try to rehydrate yourselves.
While the hangover is killer, this Saint Patrick’s Day is one that will go down in the books.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You will never forget the day when you found out you were pregnant. Mel and you had been trying for almost a year, and after what felt like a thousand pregnancy test taken in the dark and coldness of your bathroom floor, that time was different.
8 months earlier
Melissa wasn´t home just yet. She was driving the fastest she could. You just left early, just sended her a text message that didn´t explain why, she was worried.
For some reason, that past week you´ve been easily irritable, but today you exaggerated a bit.
In the morning, while Melissa was driving the both of you to school, you have complained about Mel breathing “to hard”.
“You don´t have to make that much noise” you said in a very harsh tone. Mel just gave you a look, and kept driving (and breathing just as she has been doing her whole live). ”Im asking nicely, just breath a little more quietly”
“That’s asking nicely?” Melissa dares to reply to your complain, and immediately regretted it.
“Im just saying” your tone higher than before “I´ve asked you several times to not breath that hard because It irritates me a lot, and you simply don´t care” suddenly you felt the urge to start crying, to scream, to get out of the car and start running. You really don´t understand where all this fellings are coming from.
“Oh c´mon, what’s with that attitude? You don’t like the way I breath, the way I chew my food, the way I drink coffee. Please tell me what I´m allowed to do in your presence my love, please enlighten me” Melissa´s voice was also higher that before, and full of sarcasm. It is very rare when Melissa burst out like this, and especially towards you. She actually never talk to you in bad way or anything, and usually saves this part of her personality to people that she doesn´t like, so that she was directing it towards you this time, was more than enough for your tears to flow.
“I want to get out” you said in a shaky voice, you were crying. Mellissa’s face immediately softening, putting her hand on your thigh.
“C´mon darling, Im sorry, I didn´t mean to talk to you like that … I just don´t know why you are being like this lately” You know she meant it, and you also knew that you were exaggerating, but you couldn´t help it.
“I want to get out …. Please” you said again in a calmer voice. “I don´t want to get to school like this” You pointed to your face, your eyes red and a little bit swollen for the crying. “Please” Melissa looked at you one more time, and nodded her head. She puled over at the side of the street. It was only 3 blocks to school. You started gathering your stuff, and before you opened the door, you turned around and kissed Melissa on the cheek.
“Im sorry ... im okay, we are okay, I just need to calm down” she gave you a quick kiss on the lips and nodded. She was preoccupied about you. It had been a hard month, you both were going through a lot, but still, all this attitude, all the fights you have had over nonsense, were really getting out of control.
“Please be careful, call me if you need anything”
That whole day at school, you didn´t see Melissa. In part because you felt embarrassed for your behavior earlies, but also, you have been feeling a little sick, you just wanted to stay sitting in you classroom. During the day, you have been texting each other. Just to let her know when you arrived at school, and then to let her know you were not going to the teacher’s room for lunch. Melissa didn´t argue, she understands you needed space, and to be honest, she needed it as well.
It was already 1 pm, just tow more hours till school was over, but you really couldn´t pull your self together. You were dizzy, with nauseas, and a headache.
Your kids were coloring, the have been doing it for the last hour, they have been pretty quiet and well behave, leaving you a little peace of mind to try to calm your symptoms and also to think about the emotional mess you have been lately.
Then, an idea crossed your mind.
You shook your head, it couldn’t be.
It has been a little more than a month and the doctor said that after three weeks it was very unlikely to happen.
After the first let down Mel and you had 6 months ago, both of you decided to give it one last chance. You were both very excited and hopeful, but 2 weeks after the procedure you had a little bleeding. You went to the gynecologist who said that, sadly, you weren’t pregnant.
Melissa was your rock, but even behind all that toughness you could see that she was devastated. That night you both didn’t even bother to go to bed, you just stayed on the couch, hugging each other, traying to calm your sobbing and making up to the idea that you were not going to start a family any time soon.
So the idea of being pregnant now, was very unlikely. But what if it was not a crazy idea?
You kept debating inside your head whether you should take a pregnancy test or save yourself from another disappointment. Fuck it. You were going to take the risk.
It was 1:30. You asked Barbara, the other kinder garden teacher to take care of your class for the remaining of the day, you explained to her that you weren’t felling very well and wanted to go home as soon as possible. You also begged her not to tell Melissa. Barbara wasn´t very sure of it, but knowing you for several years now, and being married to her best friend made it easier for her to trust you, therefore, help you in this situation.
You took an UBER, on the way home, you texted Melissa <<Im going home on my own, so you don´t have to wait for me on your way out>>  You barely remember when you got home, and how you went to the upstairs bathroom to pee on that too familiar little stik.
The sound of a notification forced you took look to your phone, It was Melissa <<What??? You okay?>>. You just answered with a <<Yes, Im fine, don’t worry>>
It was already 2:40, you had no idea how it was already that late and still you couldn´t look at the pregnancy test results. Instead, you peed on another one, and another one, until you had like 10 pregnancy test on the bathroom cabinet, covered with toilet paper so you couldn´t look at the negative result and feel disappointed once again.
You were sitting on the floor, with your arms crossed, with your head between your knees. You didn’t listen when the front door opened, or when hurry steps approached to the bathroom, much less did you hear the voice calling your name. It was until the redhead came to the bathroom, opening the door a little aggressively. She looked worried. She kneel in front of you, taking you hands into hers.
“My love, come on, what on earth is going on?” She started caressing your hair.
“I did something very stupid, and didn’t want to tell you because I don´t want to hurt you” You started crying. Melissa´s face harden and put some space between the both of you, thinking the worst.
“You cheat on me?” Your eyes widened.
“No Mel… God, no” you clean your tears, and took her hands into yours once again, feeling how she relaxed at your touch “I… took another pregnancy test” It took Melissa a moment to say something back.
“Why?” She sat next to you, back against the wall, hugging you with one arm. “I mean…It´s okay, thank you for telling me… but what made you do it?”
“I felt sick, and I have been an emotional mess, getting angry for everything, crying at the slightest situation…” You sight. “I felt that I needed to do it” Melissa was quiet for a moment, she noticed the pregnancy test in top of the sink cover with toilet paper.
“Have you looked at the results?” You shook your head. “Would you like to look at it together?”
“No” You answered quickly. “I know is negative, it is just my mind playing tricks” you start crying again. Melissa hugs you, starting to cry as well. “Just throw them all away.., please baby”
Melissa nodded. She helped you get on you feet and guided you to the bed, were you laid looking at the celling, waiting for Melissa to come back from the task you have assigned her.
Mel went inside the bathroom, letting her tears run free know that you weren’t there. She doesn´t mind being vulnerable in front of you, she just feels the need of being strong for you.
She took the trash can with one hand, with the intention of just throw all the pregnancy test to the bin without looking at them, but she just can´t help it. She picks up a test, closing her eyes and sighing. She rises her hand to the level of her face, and opens her eyes.
She picks another one, and another one, and another one. Positive. “Oh my god, sweetheart” It´s all she managed to say, better said, to scream. At the sound of your wife screaming, you rushed into the bathroom. “They are all positive love, you ARE pregnant, we are going to have a baby” Mel showed you the pregnancy test on her hand.
Two stripes.
Positive.
Next thing you remember, you were crying happy tears, while Mellissa hugged you, kissed you, and of course kissed your belly.
After a while. you are lying in bed, with Mellissa hugging you, with one hand on your stomach.
“So this little bean here is to blame for the attitude I´ve been having all week” Mellissa just laughs. “I´m sorry love, I should have suspected earlier”
“Oh, forget about that, I mean… I was a little freaked out with everything that was going on, but now” She kissed you belly once again “All that matters is that this little bean and you, are okay”
“And you too” You add, running you fingers though Mel´s hair “I can´t do this without you”
Mel moved to be facing you. “I´ll always be around for you tow” She kissed you on the lips. “I´m not gonna lie, feels a little challenging having a kid at my age, but” You cut her off, she usually has this little break downs about her being too old for you, or too old for having a baby.
“There´s nothing wrong with your age, I think you have a perfect age, actually, it is one of the things I love the must about you” You begin to trace with your finger the expression lines that form on Melisa's forehead. “You are beautiful, the most beautiful woman I´ve ever seen… And you are going to be an excellent mother” You kissed her forehead.
“I love you” She says hugging you even tighter, trying not to squeeze your belly. “You are going to be an excellent mother as well.”
“We make a great team Schemmenti, we are going to take good care of this little bean”
She hums in responds and in one quick move stands up from the bed, and extends her hand towards you. “Speaking of which, you need to eat, c´mon. That bean ain´t gonna grow on its own” You smiled at her and took her hand, letting her guide you towards the kitchen. On boy, you have to get ready for overprotective Mellissa. But you don’t really mind, you loved seeing her happy and excited. Your only concern right now is to take care of your pregnancy, and enjoy this whole process with the love of your life.
