YES you have given him a piggyback ride, when a flood of water burst a dam during a battle/the other Links got out but Time didn't bc of his heavy armor,

so u yoink him up and just stood ur ground against the raging waves and climbed a rock until u weren't submerged anymore, poor guy was so worn out from the battle + the flood that he just let you carry him all the way until u camped for the night, and secretly took a nap 😭

like Legend he can be convinced to rely on u when he’s already vulnerable like sleepy/tired/injured/sick, but he does find himself secretly appreciative someone in the group can just lift his heavy ass in full armor/or someone else if it gets bad enough,

The QSMP is looking for smaller English-speaking streamers, so I figured I'd take the time to introduce qsmpblr to none other than Eric "Condi" Condifiction!!

Condi is an English-speaking Canadian who's a part of Just Roll With It (JRWI), the absurdly powerful dnd podcast he runs with his friends Bizly, Grizzly, and Slimecicle!! He plays several characters across their multiple campaigns, along with DM'ing his own campaign of Apotheosis. He plays/played Jay Ferin for Riptide, Rolan Deep for Blood in the Bayou, Sylnan Vengolor for Fated, Flynn Gustwind for Convergence, and Vyncent Sol for Prime Defenders. (plus something im probably forgetting whoops anyway)

He is insanely talented at rp and improv, with some of the more infamous and my favorite examples being episodes 53, 100, and 101 in JRWI: Riptide. The way he plays Jay Ferin is emotionally devastating and incredible, and she's genuinely brought me to tears multiple times. Though he plays his absolute heart out with every character he makes, she's just a neat example of his range and talent. Looking at the differences between Jay, the Navy's daughter, and someone like Rolan Deep, a lawyer returning to his hometown of Galloway to experience The Horrors™ is just wild man. Not to even mention everything he does with Vyncent and his multiple different characters inside him; along with everything he made for his own campaign of Apotheosis.

Something something charlie slimecicle calls him "God Gamer Condifiction." He's really good at video games dude I have no way to talk about this he just is its really scary honestly. On one of his more recent streams he went live playing Only Up! and he beat it in one go without any major setbacks, fast enough to refund the game and get all the money he spent on it back. Just for context.

He also has a background in minecraft roleplay specifically!! He was part of the SCU (Slimecicle Cinematic Universe) where he roleplayed several different characters. God!Condi and 100Days!Condi being the more defined ones. Everything he did in the SCU was nearly pure unscripted improv and incredibly impressive, and I highly recommend you go through and watch it!! (I go into detail on how to get into it on this post)

He doesn't just have background in the roleplay aspects of minecraft though, he was also briefly on SMPEarth and is skilled at regular minecraft too. He mainly strives at the roleplay aspects, but again the whole God Gamer Condifiction thing so ^_^

YOU SHOULD SEE WONKA!

- Look I’m as sick of the constant adaptations and reboots and sequels as everyone else. It’s exhausting.

- BUT

- Wonka is legitimately a good movie! I assumed it was going to be painfully mid but I had SO much fun

- The music is genuinely really fun and charming. If you’re a fan of musical theatre, there’s lots to love

- There’s a lot of love put into the visuals. They really capture the whimsy and magic of it. In fact, this version of Willy Wonka grew up loving stage magic, so they tie that into his performances and its SUPER cool to watch. There aren’t as many HUGE set pieces since this is before the chocolate factory is built, but no matter how big or small you can tell a lot of creative work was put into it

- The writing is pretty solid! Nothing groundbreaking, but its likeable, funny, and charming. You won’t be shocked or challenged, but you will have a good time!

- GREAT found family vibes. And they don’t shoehorn in an unnecessary love interest, the central relationship of the story is platonic!! Love to see it

- They strike a good balance between honoring the original movie and telling their own story.

- I love the movie original deuteragonist. Noodle is SO sweet and clever and she deserves the world :)

- I was definitely wary of a story where Willy Wonka is the main character, seeing as in the original story he was specifically meant to be a strange, almost cryptid-like powerful figure. But I think the angle they took was really charming and likeable!

- Willy would be a himbo if he had any bulk, but he has the build of a tumblr sexyman twink. But like. This guy is SO stupid and SO sweet

- Like seriously I can’t emphasize enough how much I was charmed by his character. Someone who is blindly optimistic, trusting and positive—but when he realizes the world can be cruel, he doesn’t became jaded, and instead decides the world needs to change.

- Its a really fun watch! I think a lot of people are going to give this movie a pass because it looks like one of a million lazy brand retellings, but I really think its worth giving a shot. Its a solid watch, and Im quite fond of it already! Definitely going to relisten to the soundtrack, might even draw some fanart. I’d recommend it 👍

So I feel like I should prep this by saying before I figured out about LMK I was super into OPS's jttw series. So I made Zhao with the context of the book, and the book doesn't sugar coat things so Zhao's backstory is a bit uhhh, mature? There's no nsfw stuff but there is a lot, lot, loottt of angst (even though the backstory is kinda "simple"), so forgive me :'(

I did change up her backstory a bit for the LMK version because it is a kids show and I don't feel like the creators would stick with the dark tone of the original. Whenever I write OCs for sertant shows I try to write it with the context of "How would the creator tackle this if my oc was a Canon character?" Yk? You don't write a depressed, emo, Greek hero for a light hearted magical girl show.

So ye, this first segment will be her JTTW backstory sum-up and I'll note what is changed in the LMK version at the end👍

JTTW/original backstory(this is long, read at your own risk)-

-Zhao wasn't raised in the best household.. Not only was her father a total womanizer with 3 wives (at the time of her birth, by now he has 7) and who knows how many mistresses, but her elder family member were pretty verbally abusive. I mentioned before but Xiaotian and Biao-Qi (Zhao's father and grandfather) wanted Zhao to be born as a male because in their clan its essential for the first born of every generation to be a boy, so when they found out about Zhao being a girl they were really salty and thought of her as "The disgrace" of the family. (hence why Zhaoyan is a name generally given to Chinese boys, which yea Xiaotian is the type of douche-bag to chose the name of the child at the start of his marriage without the mothers approval)

-Zhao was the one basically raising her younger siblings because her parents couldn't be bothered to, Pangfua (Zhao's mom) couldn't even bare to look at Xiaotian's face so the last thing she cared for was some random children of him and his mistresses, and Xiaotian's other wifes didn't really care for the children either. However, Zhao ADORED her siblings because she was always good with little kids. But as time went on and on, with so many children coming in to the household she started getting tired, but what could she do? At the time she was barely a teenage girl, if she complained to her father she could legitimately be at risk to lose her head. Like I said, Xiaotian couldn't care less about Zhao, he doesn't give a damn if she likes taking care of her siblings or not.

-Eventually Zhao grew too tired of her family, and decided to leave. This might seem selfish but holy frick, the girlie felt like a maid, and it's not like she doesn't care for her family, it's that they couldn't care less about her. All of her siblings were old enough to take care of each other and the other family members treated them well, why shouldn't she be able to "go live her own life"?

- The first place she went was to a temple dedicated to the Chinese tiger spirit- Hu Ye. The reason she went to him specifically was because he was sort of the protector/symbol of Zhao's family (for context think about how Apollo was the protector of the Trojans in the Iliad), she prayed to him all night, she asked humbly to become a Jade Maiden that serves Guan Yin (because that was probably the best option. Also just so you have context- Hu Ye blessed the girls in Zhao's family with a healing gift. So basically they could heal any illness, wound, missing limb etc...). But to her surprise Hu Ye saw what she did as "unforgiving". You shouldn't leave your family who loves you so much, not cool >:( (cut him some slack tho, whenever to family would worship him they would make them self's seem like the most perfect people ever). And so in short he gave her flaming orange hair so she never forgets that she is a Tiger Maiden (bcz orange=tigers and he just be petty like that bro).

-Eventually she went to the woods but she was found by Lánhūa- a forest spirit. Lánhūa took pity on her and decided to take her in as one of her nymphs. Because Zhao had the healing gift she was a great addition to the palace Lánhūa lived in, Zhao was always the one making sure everyone was healthy and the worst someone suffered was a common cold, and even those wouldn't last long.

-However one day while she was collecting fruits for the palace she stumbled upon a strange noise near a mountain, she went to check what it was and wouldn't you have guessed its good ol' Sun Wukong. The pair fairly quickly became friends, Zhao would often tell him stories and keep him company and Sun (who was under that damn mountain for 346 years by the time he and Zhao met) would listen and tell her his life stories.

-At the early stages of the jttw Monkey actually did try and convince Zhao to come with him and the other pilgrims, she would be the one taking care of Tripitaka and making sure he stays healthy. Zhao refused at first but after some time she agreed. Her and Tripitaka were very close because they were both kinda the "sane ones" of the group and Zhao took her position very seriously. Sanzang eventually noticed that this was a bit weird considering how layed back the other pilgrims were, so he confronted her and Zhao opened up to him. And that's how I'd show her backstory in the book.

So in short: Girl leaves abusive family and prays to god, god makes her a ginger and she gets adopted by a hot forest spirit. A monkey befriends her and convinces her to give free health care to his friend **emotional**

Holy crap that took so long to write/ Notes on how her backstory would probably be changed in the lmk version:

In the lmk version I think they'd tone down how bad her family was just a bit, again it is a kids show. I think the start would generally be the same but that Hu Ye would grant her wish. But instead of a disciple for Guan Yin I think they'd change it into a Peach Maiden, so that she could meet the brotherhood and befriend Wukong like she did in the original backstory. They'd probably remove Lánhūa as well (because she is a very minor character in Zhao's backstory). So yea in short of what I think the creators of LMK would do with her character: -Hu Ye grants her wish of becoming a Peach Maiden. -Orange would be her natural hair color(bcz tigers woo). -I honestly think they'd give her a sort-of survivor's guilt because of the whole "leaving your family" thing instead of "Ama give u tiger hair so you never forget how you left your family >:(" -She meets the brotherhood through their lil' rebellion -Healing powers would probably be toned down a bit so there's still some risk

If you don't mind, could you give us a tutorial or brief explanation on how you render hair? /nf

YES!! unfortunately i got. very tired after making this so this is only one hair type :( was gonna go into all the different types of hair textures but. i will just have to do that later. also keep in mind i drew this in like. 7 minutes its just a simple guide to get out the basic steps

^i didn't put music in this so. listen to whatever u want while ur watching this (its 6 minutes 40 seconds). also its slightly sped up this isn't real speed

elaboration of each step under read more:

step 0: look at other hair tutorials/pictures of real hair to figure out how light reflects off of them. then completely disregard that and just make things up (this is the best artistic process trust me i do it every day)

step 1: just get out that basic shape. it doesnt have to be anything fancy,

step 2: just fill it in and adjust the shape as needed

step 3: figure out how the hair moves and flows, which parts go out more (highlights), which parts are closer to the head (shadows/base), etc. i highly recommend just looking at pictures of hair online, or taking pictures of your own hair. for coily/curly hair, you just kind of have to do this for each curl/coil. one thing to keep in mind the highlight is in the middle of the curl/coil and the shadows are on the edges (usually). i'll elaborate more on that once i have an actual video for it

step 4: just make it so the edges of the highlights transition a bit more smoothly into the base color. it just helps for later steps tbh. try not to over do it, don't want to completely get rid of the highlight, just soften it

step 5: add more highlights with thinner brush. this should be where the light would bounce off the hair the MOST. i think i forgot to say in the video uhhh add in some base value too. maybe a few shadows. mostly this step is for highlights tho.

step 6: idk what else to put here sorry. ngl just get silly with it

step 7: it is very important to do one stroke per area in this one. do not lift your pen off the screen/tablet/whatever until the little area youre working on is one smooth transparent shade, then move on to the next. idk if i'm explaining this right hopefully this makes sense.

step 8: complete opposite as step seven. make as many strokes as you feel it needs. not TOO many, just enough to get some texture and then some yk? i recommend making a copy of the layer youre working on before doing this so that if you mess something up you can always go back to square one.

also a lot of these steps apply to pretty much any hair type just. in a completely different shape with completely different rules. which is to say its exactly like this but it actually isn't like this at all. which is why i plan on making other videos some day (hopefully) also look up "hair texture chart" it will help you find the words you need to look up good refs

remember: always get silly with it. the only rule to to make things up and change your mind 400 times. bring a 'fuck it, we ball' mentality to your art program that the haters (your brain) really won't like. practice makes perfect and all that, do NOT expect to get something good first try, sometimes i still struggle with drawing hair in a way that i like and just scrap the whole thing. also i'm not kidding about those real hair reference pictures it helps so so much

[Lil' summary]

Story:

One day, Sonic was just minding his own business, running around, seeing his friends, and of course, stopping whatever scheme Dr. Robotnik had planned.

One fateful day, however, things wouldn't be the same once Sonic discovered a strange purple clock on top of a hill. Tails tried his best to research the clock, but there was nothing. They assumed the clock could just be a normal one and thought nothing of it. So when it was getting late, Tails and Sonic decided to sleep in the night, leaving the clock in Tails' workshop. But as they were sleeping, the clock suddenly disappeared and reappeared next to Sonic, as well as a shadow-like figure that would loom towards Sonic and eventually start possessing him.

The next day, Tails would go to Sonic only to find him gone right away. This was normal for Tails since he thinks Sonic went running around other places again.

After a few hours, Tails would begin to worry as he hadn't seen Sonic all day, not only that, but he noticed the clock went missing as well as soon as he went to his workshop, so Tails would go and start finding Sonic. As soon as Tails opens the exit from his workshop, he sees Sonic but with a much more different look. But what Tails noticed more was his eyes. His black void eyes looked so lifeless he thought Sonic was missing them due to the blood pouring out of his eyes. Tails started to think if this was even Sonic at all as he slowly started to back away in fear until he brought out his arm cannon, shaking.

This thing then started to walk closer to Tails as a smile creeped its way on his muzzle, the red pupils staring right back at the frightened fox.

Tails struggled to fire the cannon, so he ran for his life and looked for the nearest window to get out of the workshop, and eventually, Tails would successfully get out of the workshop and flew away with his 2 tails as fast as he could to get away. He needed to warn everyone, but right as he was getting away, he was instantly pulled back, someone yanking his 2 tails and throwing him on the ground, hard. Tails looked up, only to see the same floating figure that was taking control of Sonic. Tails would point his arm cannon shakingly to the figure, tears formed in his eyes as he hesitated, because, after all... this is still Sonic here. Sonic's body was being used, he assumed. So, if his body took damage, it would be a permanent scar for Sonic. Meanwhile, it would probably heal easily for this creature possessing him, but that was only speculation as he wasn't sure, and he didn't want to risk accidentally hurting Sonic in the process, so he just watched with widened, trembling eyes as he looked at the being in utter terror.

The being floated to Tails, he looked like he was going to attack until, suddenly, Sonic was fighting control over the body and shouted at Tails to get away. The being takes control again but with a struggle as he was currently fighting with Sonic inside. Once the being was distracted, Tails did as he was told, he ran. He ran as fast and far away as he could.

Once the demon had enough of struggling for control, he thought it would be a good idea and hit himself; stabbing himself with his own fist to the chest. Since this was Sonic's body the demon was using, only Sonic could feel this pain. So, as it happened, Sonic was unconscious and was now losing the last strains of control he had left, and now letting the demon take over completely.

The demon would mess around with his powers and alter the environment around him. The sky was bloody red, and the sun was grey. The grass and the trees, even the little animals, were all grey scaled except for the characters who were alive. Parts of the ground were lifted up as platforms. This reached its way on to where Tails was hiding as well.

and as Tails was hiding, it was only a matter of time before Time.exe's search would begin.

personally i'm a biiiig rabbit vibes fan, my favorite one is just. large. i got it from lovehoney, if you're european i generally recommend it they're p high quality, and more importantly they're transparent abt their reviews! i mean i think they exist in the us too but i can't vouch for their quality there lol. (best one is from the fifty shades of grey series but it's. so goddamn expensive. but also so strong it'll blow your clit right off like if you can afford to do this one big purchase and you like rabbits i def recommend it)

another vibe i got recently that i really like is a magic wand by mantric, really good for when penetration is not the vibe (ha) lol. the cool thing abt it is it's waterproof bc its charging hole is small enough to be covered. from what i figured all their toys are like this so if that's smth you're looking for i rec checking em out! Renfield

My dumb little gay brain has hyper fixated on this upcoming vampire film so I wanted to talk about it. Really long post under the cut, so read on at your own risk 👍👍👍

So Renfield is this movie about Dracula’s minion, Renfield, and I got really excited about it when I saw the trailer. I’ll probably still go see the movie, the aesthetic is cool and I like the colors, but based on that trailer, I had an understanding of the plot that did not pan out. Maybe I’m wrong and the advertisement was misleading, but as I’m aware of it, the plot goes like this:

Renfield is your average guy, save for one thing: he works for the narcissistic Lord of Evil, Dracula, who I think serves as a literal representation of his low self-esteem and self-worth. To help alleviate this problem, he goes to a toxic relationship counseling group, who see his panicked rambling about his boss’s powers as hyperbole. His job is to bring Dracula people to eat, and, in exchange, (by eating spiders??? I think???) he gains superhuman strength and agility. But Dracula treats him terribly, and he’s looking to get out of their bargain. He, at some point, saves a bunch of people, and teams up with a police officer lady to an unknown degree. I assume the movie will end with him defeating Dracula, symbolizing him overcoming his mental struggles and finding peace.

Now, I thought this movie was gay. Perhaps that’s my gaggles (gay goggles) talking, but given that he goes to relationship counseling, the bizarre intimacy shown in the promotional material, as well as my inkling that it would have its romantic/sexual undertones addressed narratively if either Dracula or Renfield was a woman, I think it’s justified. So my first thought was, “Cool! Gay vampire action movie with Nick Cage!” And then I thought, “Oh, not gay vampire action movie with Awkwafina.” And some of my initial enthusiasm dipped. But I figured, “I can’t’ve been the only one who caught on to these subtleties, right?” So, to the Internet I went.

Come to find out, almost everyone saw the very homoerotic subtext between the dominating evil fancy man and his submissive good-hearted henchperson. 

Of course, some certain corners of the Internet, such as Pinterest, Tumblr, and Ao3 are perhaps a bit hardwired to see two men in close proximity and diagnose them with gay, but I think that says more about how writers write these characters, and less about how the fans see them. Since straight relationships are largely unappealing (read: unhealthy and possessive) as portrayed in modern media, and a majority of characters with speaking lines and interactions are male, gay pairings are an essential part of the shipping conversation. The top ten pairings in Ao3 fanfiction are all between two guys, for Pete’s sake. 

So why aren’t canonical gay relationships more common? The obvious answer is, obviously, the aggressive heterosexuality of Hollywood, action movies in particular. Sometimes it seems like hetero romance is a quota to fill, as if while making these movies, they thought, “We have to make these to opposite-gendered characters kiss,” with very little reasoning or logic behind it. And even if a straight romance is given buildup and payoff, it seems that many writers are uninterested in actually writing about two people in love, beyond the falling in. (The Thor movies are actually a great example of this, as the relationship between Jane Foster and Thor in the first movie is a pretty well-written one. But then they’ve broken up in the second film, Jane isn’t in the third one, and then she dies.) Indiana Jones has three different love interests for three straight movies, Maverick gets back with Penny in Top Gun 2 for literally no good reason, and Endgame ends with Captain America having gone back and inadvertently removed Peggy’s agency to get his romantic ending. In my opinion, straight romances are largely superficial, not impacting plot or characters in meaningful enough ways to be included. 

And that’s, I think, at the heart of why I can’t stand romantic subplots in action movies. Their superficially and toxic insanity. I can count on two hands the amount of movies with enjoyable and well-progressed romantic subplots. (Howl’s Moving Castle, Shrek, and Tangled come to mind, though that might be my animation bias showing.) It feels tacked on. Cheap. Unimportant. It’s hard to get invested into when the characters are so… not interesting. And when it’s not boring me to tears, it’s making me question the sanity of whoever signed off on it.

For an excellent comparison, look at the 1999 and 2017 Mummy movies. In the ‘99 film, Rick and Evie’s romance couldn’t be removed without substantial changes to the narrative. They positively drive each other’s development. Rick by feeding into Evie’s more outgoing and adventurous tendencies, and Evie by driving Rick to be more open and compassionate. They’re totally focused on each other, and time is given to developing their relationship naturally. It also provides a good foil against the villain, Imhotep, who was destroyed not once, but twice by his obsession with Anck-su-Namun. 

But the 2017 version has one of the most heterosexual stories I’ve ever seen in an action film. The protagonist, Nick, has two love interests, the paranoid researcher Jennifer, and the mummy herself, Ahmanet. He’s linked to Ahmanet through some psychic BS, and she wants to marry him. But he also has a past with Jennifer, and ends up sacrificing himself for her. But instead of these relationships serving as juxtaposition, one driven by genuine caring passion, and the other driven by desire and selfishness, one just keeps getting in the way of the other. At the end, neither are developed or compelling. Too much time is spent with Nick bemoaning his ties to Ahmanet to grow into his relationship with Jennifer, and too much time is spent with Nick angsting out with Jennifer to elaborate on his relationship with Ahmanet. And they’re all such boring characters that you can’t even really bring yourself to care.

So, along comes Renfield. A film with the perfect opportunity to structure most, if not all, of its story around a romantic relationship, albeit a failing one. It felt (and still feels) incredibly What We Do In The Shadows, given the poppy neon lighting, dry-humored dialogue, timeless atmosphere, and campy characters. And, above everything else, a lot of very gay subtext. (Of course, What We Do In The Shadows is a lot more overt with the character’s obviously not-straight sexualities.) Because while the common Internet users seem to look at this movie and say, “they’re gay,” the more official, widespread Internet journalists and film critics seem to look at this movie and talk only about how cool it is that not-so-subtle meme king Nicolas Cage is playing a classy-classic tuxedo vampire. (And, don’t get me wrong, I love that too.) Is it the gaggles rearing their homo heads again? Is this just something we’ve read into too deeply?

I don’t think so. Any millennial/ gen-Z consumer of vampire media, excluding maybe the die-hard Edward versus Jacob Twilight fans, is familiar with the homoeroticism that comes with the genre. Carmilla, widely considered the very first vampire novel, is literally about a lesbian romance! The sexual tension between Jonathan Harker and the Count in the first few chapter of Dracula is wild. So much vampire media is queercoded, if not outright gay, so I think assuming a 2023 “modern monster tale” would address or lean into these expectations is reasonable.

(As a side note, whatever Renfield and Dracula’s relationship is, it’s a toxic one. If my assumption is correct and Dracula represents Renfield’s internalized insecurities, that’s a pretty bad basis for a romance. The promo material has made it very clear that Renfield is unhappy with how he is treated by his boss. His journey in the movie is about getting away from that.

Online fandom culture has an unfortunate habit of romanticizing (fetishizing) gay men in toxic relationships. Look no further than the enthusiastic Killing Stalking fan base, who think a psychopathic, unfeeling murderer and an emotionally unstable, abandonment-issue-riddled nervous wreck should be together romantically. Oh, and the murderer kept the nervous wreck locked in his house for months, physically, emotionally, and sexually abusing him, while feeding into his Stockholm-Syndrome mentality. Such a relationship is similar to Dracula and Renfield’s. A lot of this culture stems from teen girls, which I am, and I don’t want to feed into that.)

If Renfield is gay, it has an interesting opportunity to write an extremely interesting queer romance about a gay dude breaking away from his abusive old boss, and perhaps finding new love and comfort in his sexuality. I would suggest the police officer, but, on top of the fact that she would bring it back to the realm of heteronormativity, she’s unfunny and annoying. (Although, her name is Rebecca Quincy, and Quincy P. Morris is the name of the bisexual Texas cowboy himbo from the original Dracula novel.) Oh, well. She’ll probably be his love interest anyway.

It’s possible that I’m just wrong and Renfield will have all this “good queer writing” that I didn’t expect, and this whole essay will be null and void. (I seriously doubt it.) Honestly, though, I’m really just using Renfield as thinly- veiled window dressing for other romantic- adjacent topics that I’ve wanted to organize my thoughts on for a while.

He sets you up with a ring, providing basic training with John Stewart and occasionally Guy Gardner. Your skills improve greatly, its clear you are responsible and talented enough to wield the ring on your own terms.

As for the adults, I assume most would treat you like a sidekick, even if you aren’t one

I imagine Hal treating you more like an equal than anyone else on the Justice League, he respects your abilities and since you are family he definitely trusts you the most out of all the sidekicks

John acts like a father to you, even if you have a dad (but especially if your father isn’t present/isn’t a good dad). He worries more than Hal does and often teaches you more practical stuff like first aid and things you can do with your ring

Guy doesn’t really pay attention to you, whenever he helps train someone else is always there and he just kind if watches lol

The other Justice League members treat you with respect as well, but obviously your the age of a sidekick so the mentality that you’re younger and aren’t as wise sticks with most until later years

As for the sidekicks, I can see most of them admiring the power your ring holds (but not to a toxic amount)

Aqualad appreciates having someone with similar powers on the team, and he quite enjoys training and sparring with you

Zatanna didn’t necessarily take a special interest in you, but she still enjoys your company and lets you handle things even she can’t

Robin and Artemis find it refreshing to have another regular human on the team- despite having powers from the ring, its nice to have someone who understands daily struggles (school, socializing outside of being a hero, stuff like that)

Even though Red Arrow was only on the team for a short amount of time, I can see him appreciating your company regardless- he will probably spend most of his time socializing with you or Aqualad

Ms. Martian and Superboy find your ring-given powers fascinating (even though it might take a while for SB to admit it lol), and likes to listen to you talk about Green Lantern Corp and the history of the rings

Finally, we have Kid Flash. I can imagine him going two ways:

He doesn’t necessarily believe your ring is magical, and tries to explain it using science terms (which you and the team find amusing)

He takes the time to ask you about the ring and learns about the magic behind it, even if its hard to believe

Regardless, Wally enjoys spending time with you and definitely looks up to your abilities and talents

UGGGHHH FLUFFER UGHHH. AUGGHH. i fukciefyguehfoe…… born from the human desire for attention and have time as its enemy….. they're not understandable THEYRE BASICALLY THE FEARS IN TMA SHAKES YOU SHAKE YOU SHA- UGGSDWHD theyre the case of the trope your mind makes it real…. if that desire for attention stop it will die…. But…. is it really… like Evil? Evil with a Capital E? I mean its just a manifestation of the desire for attention its not like… gonna eat you or anything… I mean…. the evolution shite?? like… whats the worst thing that can come from too much attention…? Entitlement? Main character Syndrome??? what do you mEAN THEY WILL ERASE THE THING THEY'RE TRYING TO IMPERSONATE WHY ARE THEY EVEN IMPERSONATING IN THE FIRST PLACE- oh. oh god.

When the human desire for attention appear, a… kind of… Game… also appear… To get the most attention possible. To be the one in that bright spotlight, eyes all on You. But some… can't. Or don't. Whatever it is, their personality to them is plain and they crave More Attention. They can't get enough of that feeling of everyone looking at them, talking about them. And so… they start to… impersonate. To try and gain as much Attention as possible with the least amount of effort. But it's not enough. Their desire for attention wasn't fulfilled. They want more, and they Can get more. From the Attention the person they're trying to impersonate.

And so here they are, lavishing in the Attention they have, drowning in the fact that everyone's constant waking thought is about them, about tHEM- Or so they thought. Humans get…. bored. After mingling with one thing, they would move on to the next. The attention they get dropped, and they fade into obscurity. And they can't Have that. They need that Attention so desperately again. And so the cycle of impersonating continue.

"Fluffer" is the manifestation of that. That twisted desire of attention morphing into impersonation. They said time is there enemy, but it is not. That is a misguided conclusion. Their Real enemy, is the human's nature to be curious. To always learn and Know new things. Knowledge about one thing can only be so much, and so the Attention shifted to something else. And that's the problem. (This also basically explain why they wont turn into immortals. Waste of energy and time really, as all immortals are destined to be forgotten and fade into obscurity. No matter what they try.)

so Yeah! uhhh sum things up fluffer is the manifestation of the twisted desire for attention turn to impersonating as a result uhhh theyre also dumb for not realizing that Time is not their enemy like CMON YOU HAVE ALL THAT TIME TO FIGURE THAT OUT.

…. I still have complicated feeling about fluffer. Their dick meat is still in my radiation fridge, should throw that out soon probably (I wont) (Maybe paying attention to one specific part of their body can cause fluffy own non existing dick to disappear but also it doesnt exist so paradox.) (or maybe it actually exist and me focusing on it just prove their powers. idk.)

Lupe is my courier!

I don't have specific stats for him (mostly because I've played as him so many times they're always a bit different), but the basics are that he's a high perception & endurance, low charisma & agility build.

he has high repair, medicine, survival and sneak, and has very low speech and barter skills. everything else is either kind of low or continues to slowly improve as he travels

Lupe was always a quiet man. though his figure was often imposing, he would always help others with a kind smile on his face. He is from Baja California del Norte, close to NCR territory :) he lived in a small community with friends and family.

The trek from Baja to California was easy enough for him, so he took on the job of courier!

blah blah being shot in the head by Benny blah blah retrograde amnesia. the jist of it is that he no longer remembers his family or his past. the first few days in good springs are very rough. the town assumes he was mute, and it honestly feels like he is. speaking is very hard. words of two languages getting jumbled in his brain. he has constant headaches and bad dreams.

Despite no longer knowing himself at all, he remains a very similar man. He's still quiet, though moreso than before, and he is still kind at heart.

I am still trying to figure out how arcade and him exactly meet, and how their relationship develops, but Arcade serves as an anchor for him. Though their relationship remains unlabeled and ambiguous for the most part, they both rely on each other. Arcade trusts him.

though he doesn't show, he is in anguish. he has dreams of people who's faces feel so familiar, yet are always out of reach. he doesn't want to be a murderer, a mercenary, a tool for a revolution he knows nothing about. he is so often trapped in his own mind, and arcade is always there to ground him.

I've written some stuff about him and Benny before, so I'm just gonna copy paste it on here lol

"But Benny- he put you in this position. Whether you act or not, a war is brewing. But he has the power to change its odds. To a degree, you cannot blame Benny. Like yourself, like many in the Mojave, in the wasteland, he is a dreamer. An idealist. An idiot with hope. That man stands out like a sore thumb. the same unappealing, unflattering, tacky, yellowed-at-the-seams checkered suit is still on his person. But maybe you're looking too much into it."

BASICALLY his feelings towards Benny are very mixed. he respects Benny's initiative, he *almost* respects his drive; his want to change things. But he loathes him for what he did to him. He's a snake. in the end, Arcade is relieved that Lupe doesn't seek vengance. would bring too much trouble into their lives.

other than that . . . . i mean I've written some other things, but theyre mostly misc stuff that I've already kinda explained on here ^^ Lupes story might still change.. I am still working on him & his character... sorry if any of this is structured weird by the way. i wasn't sure how to write it . I am also sorry for any typos!! i am writing this on my phone as I chew on scrambled eggs

I FINISHED LONG LIVE THE PUMPKIN QUEEN

And well… it was something? Lmao

Like don’t get me wrong, it was a fun read—just ask Cass, I couldn’t put it down once I got it in the mail.

And honestly the first 2/3 of the book is really good and to me the characters are as they should be written (the witches are a bit eh but we needed a female presence to try and ‘doll up’ Sally, I guess). Jack and Sally’s relationship is super sweet and you can tell after (a year?) of being together they’re truly in love and looking forward to a new life. I read instances in their respective voices and was like yeah that is totally how they’d speak in this situation. The Valentines and Dream Town/Sandman concept was super cool and something I totally got behind. It just provides fodder for all the new worlds that can be expanded upon and how these characters would approach them.

Basically, you can tell the novel was written by someone who loves the film.

HOWEVER

This is also its weakness. Because once you get into the last third of the book, it totally dives into fanfic territory, and I was going “wuuuh” more than once.

Sally being a heroine in her own story—awesome. I love that the author really emphasized her struggles with anxiety and being afraid to really immerse herself in the commotion of Halloween Town; especially now that’s she in the constant limelight thanks to her being married to Jack. She’s not used to it, and it shows. Maybe she’s just a little too emotional in some instances? (Tears? HOW?) But Sally was known in the film to kind of take moments to wallow on her situation(s) before moving forward once again. And she does do that in the novel.

Sally finding out she was born, her true parents are the rulers of Dream Town, and that she was abducted by Dr. Finkelstein and not created by him—yeaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh…….

I don’t know. Maybe some people can get behind this idea but personally I thought it was stupid. There was a whole ass deleted scene in the original film that Tim Burton himself threw out because it was so stupid (Oogie Boogie being Fink in disguise?). I got the same vibe from this. Like, they just needed a scapegoat for Sally needing a tragic backstory so they decided on Fink. Like don’t get me wrong the guy is an emotionally abusive asshole, but I don’t see him being a character that would go out of his way to abduct a CHILD. Most of the time in the film he was just pissed that his creation was so rebellious and wasn’t doing his constant bidding like he thought she would.

Also he apparently knew about the other realms before Jack! Go figure.

TLDR; I liked the book for the most part and think it’s truly a work of love for fellow Nightmare fans, but the last 100 pages just left me scratching my head moreso than anything. I don’t like the twist they threw in there; I think the story could’ve been meaningful enough without Sally needing a tragic long lost daughter backstory.

Overall, I’d give it a 6.5/10 👍

I got so excited when I saw you updated Weak Spot that I actually almost puked while in the middle of reading 👍👍. Sorry I cant express how much I adore your work but you make really really really good stuff. Thats 3 reallys cuz I mean it a lot. Legitimately life changing I think I might even use the reader character and donnie as a reference point on how to approach communication better in the future, like, in general, not just in romantic relationships.

I think you're one of the very few long fic writers who my frustratingly impatient and short-attentioned brain was actually willing go wait for on every chapter, I've never read a fic that gripped me by the neck this strongly since I've left the Undertale fandom. Weak spot is just that good and I think I'll crave everything you have to provide as long as you're willing to share them with us readers.

Oh yeah and also as young adult I really look up to you btw, in general because I like the bright yet tempered energy you show through your posts and also I think your work ethic is admirable and the fact that you're very literate in the way you respond to ask as well (kind of expected since you're a seasoned writer after all, of course youre very literate), and also, as someone who's attempting to actually down my fic ideas and day dreams, I've recently been trying to look just a bit closer on your work and how you approach descriptions and dialogue and learn better that way, kind of like how artists do master studies and observe and attempt to replicate experienced artist's techniques, quirks and art style to apply to their own work as well. Currently I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate that use of metaphors you do often to sort of indirectly and almost abstractly describe what someone is going through, like in this week's chapter 56 where Donnie's self exploration is described as a journey with Reader simply accompanying them to a certain point. This is my favorite part in each chapters you write and I know there's a term for this technique but that might distract me from my train of thought so uhm. Make of that as you will I suppose.

I especially love how maturity really shines through your work and I love how slow and almost inconsequential/very normal (yet tremendously intimate) their daily life as a couple and honestly, in a lot of romance books I see I dont think they highlight that part enough and I'm so glad you let the readers breathe between chapters while still being able to build up tension when something bigs about to happen. I'm assuming (though I am pretty sure) that this is probably born from years and years of writing considering this is a type of writing paired with that mature energy I was picking up is something I could rarely find in the fics (or books in general) made by teens and people my age, and thats pretty incredible. I've never seen characters treated so very clearly lovingly before and whenever I compare my current work as of now it feels like playing in a kiddie pool then being met with the experience of looking on into the deep blue waters from the white beach then deciding to run to the sea to see the near-immortal multi-colored corals and all the beautiful thriving life underneath the waves. Its exhilarating really. Theres a depth in your work that makes it feel alive and almost timeless which I'm extremely motivated to achieve basically. Considering you've never let on or at least hinted that you're a professional writer irl or anything like that at all, and the fact that you somewhat implied you write because of passion is incredible because that means (this is all assumption of course) that you've likely been doing this stuff for years for free out of love and (likely) for yourself which is. Actually crazy honestly, as someone whos very prone to giving up even if I'm passionate about my work.

I kinda want to say more but unfortunately I dont have the energy to type everything down since my mushy emotions about the fic are hard to pin down enough to make a coherent description right now. Life changing? Ahhh! 💞 They always say communication is key to a relationship and sometimes when people harp on something it's absolutely because it's true! A big part of Weak Spot is I wanted to challenge myself that the relationship itself was never a point of contention. These two loved each other right off the bat and them being together was never going to be something contested. Now everything around them happens to be an on and off dumpster fire, but c'est fiction~

You look up to me? I'm going to cry for real. No like, no joke, reading this actually is making me a bit choked up! 😭💞 I'd love to dive into my experience if it might help. I would not shun being called an experienced writer as it's something I've done on and off for almost two decades, but I only began writing seriously (read hyperfixiating) since 2019. Since I have zero chill, I sort of speed ran the writing process, but that's not what I attribute to my media literacy. I don't know if I'd call myself a hypercritical person (some would call me that for sure), but I have always loved to examine the media I consume. I can absolutely turn my brain off and have a good time (I have a long love affair with 'bad movies'), but I also love thinking and love expanding. When it came to reading, I often trend toward fiction books that talk about peoples lives, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and Eva Luna by Isabel Allende come to mind, in addition to autobiographies such as Just Kids by Patti Smith. For visual media, my friends often like to joke that no one can pin down my style because I happen to like such a broad range of films. I think all movies are good in different ways, whether they are indie, autobiographical, fictional, magical, poignant, bro comedies, ect and so forth. You mentioned the recent chapter (56) with the field metaphor. I watched Lamb (2021) this past October and was picturing the large estate pictured Iceland when writing it.

I think studying others writing styles is good and I often do it to my peers. I've surely geeked out to both TheKingPen and desceros about their own writing styles and metaphors, the like, as you described of mine! I asked them probing questions on how they work because I was/am endlessly fascinated by their prose! We're all sponges, humans I mean, and I believe that our lives are pinball machines where we bounced wildly off one another. Only we are malleable creatures and with each ping, we take a little bit of that other person with us. Whether that be actual people or media consume, I consider that the same. We're tapestries to be woven as the Greeks said about fate and this fact isn't just romanticized, it's science as indicated by epigenetics!

The technique you're searching for sounds like one under the house of metaphor, maybe extended? 🤔

I am OBSESSED with what I call banal dialog!!!

Now this is a point of contention with many of my movie friends, but I will die on this hill any day of the week. For this example, I'm going to take one of my favorites: Reservoir Dogs (1992)! Now do I like Reservoir Dogs? Honestly? Meh. I'll never forget their use of Steeler's Wheel, but that's not what's important here. What's important is the opening scene! We open on a seemingly innocuous and, to many, boring scene with eight gangster at a diner who aren't even talking about the heist. They're talking about other things and interacting with their food and the wait staff at the diner. Some think this scene is useless and doesn't do anything for the film and I will punch every one of those people in the face with my ferocity alone. That scene does EVERYTHING for the film. In fact is does the most heavy lifting out of most scenes in Hollywood. Sure, a monologue can do wonders or a silent following of a character through say their morning routine reveals a lot, but you know what really fucking reveals the most about a person? How they act in public!! The fact that Mr Pink doesn't tip isn't some fucking pseudo speak on tipping in America (though it could be) it's a jumping off point for you to know EVERYTHING about his character in one tiny itty bitty seemingly nothing display! We know he's staunch. We know he's steadfast. We know EVERYTHING we need to know about his personality and BONUS? Because he pushed back against the norm, every other character at the table (if they wanted) got a chance to voice their opionions so we got reads on all their personalities too. We see one many get easily swayed, we see another show his intelligence, we see yet another show the level of sympathy he has. All these things end up dictating how the heist in the movie actually goes and why and it all came from a few paltry minutes at the beginning of the film where they ate breakfast!

UNF JUST TALKING ABOUT IT HAS MY HEART AFLUTTER!

Now the most lethal Reservoir Dogs for this purpose (btw fuck Quentin Tarantino) because it is WITH PURPOSE! You can't just be banal for nothing. You have to be banal for a reason. I've been pretty outspoken about it before, but I also don't believe films/movies/shows/ect should ever have scenes without purpose. Everything that's done should serve the plot! Banal moments SERVE PLOT and I think it's a very underutilized concept.

Honorable mention to Hayao Miyazaki and his art of silence. I mentioned it above in following a character, but Miyazaki (and typically other Japense directors) know when to let scenes 'breathe' so to speak which does what banal dialog does in a literary sense. The breathing gives perspective for both the characters and the audience and I think is very much worth throwing into this conversation.

Also hey, look! You did a metaphor right there with your deep waters comparison. I could see it though I would totally disagree with your kiddie pool reference to yourself. You will never be me and i will never be you. Your work has just a right to exist as any other and who knows, I might have read it if you've put it out! I might recommend it to other people! I'm a big fan of many works, whether they're 'good or not' (whatever that means) that doesn't mean they don't have place! There are fics I've read that story wise or say writing wise are a TOTAL MESS and I love them regardless because maybe their character portrayal was flawless or their idea was just so good I loved that they were creative enough to share it!

Plus and I don't mean this is a braggadocios kinda way, but no one and I mean NO ONE should compare themselves to me. This is written in a derogatory sense: I am not a normal human being. One of my best friends asks me all the time "how are you still alive?" and my answer is "I DON'T KNOW MAN!" I am not someone to look up to or someone to emulate. I am just feral and hungry and no one in the this world, not even me, can get a handle on this leash.

That being said, I am so blown away by how you describe my work! Consider me shifted from choked up to misty eyed! I am not a professional writer by any means, but I'd love to turn my work into books. I just have no idea how to break into the market! I definitely do this all out of love (READ HYPERFIXATION!) and yeah for free (not discounting my pateron folks, I love you endlessly forever, but it ain't a living though it is IMMENSELY appreciated!
