Hi Rob! After the events of last year I was really saddened by what happened with Unity, and haven't checked on it since. It feels like people are talking about Unity like normal again... Did things change back and it's okay to use again, or should I completely scrap my project?

unity walked back some of the changes, main points being

fee is no longer retroactive, only applies to unity 2024 and up

fee only applies to games with over 1 million in revenue over the course of a year, AND 1 million users

fee is now a choice between either self reported downloads, or a flat 2.5% revshare, whichever is lower, over the initial 1 million

ceo resigned

what that means for you is up to you ! most people are still pretty unhappy about the initial breach of trust. for bigger companies this also still means the per-seat cost that they were used to PLUS revshare, so a lot of them are considering switching to unreal since thats just revshare, but, i assume most of us here are not bigger companies, so its really just a case of, what you want to do with it

personally i am sticking with unity because i just cant really afford to learn another engine right now (which would probably be godot since getting away from unity just to go to unreal seems counterproductive for me . also i just dont like using unreal ..) godots also still a bit in its early stages, and this will absolutely change with all the attention its gotten, but again i cant really wait for that to happen.. and while some of my 8years of unity experience will carry over, id have to relearn a lot too and its just not feasible for someone who needs to launch a game like. Last Year

a lot of people still are switching though just because of the initial breach of trust, knowing that something like this could happen Again , jumping off a sinking ship, etc etc . a lot of people have been unhappy with unity for a While, it has a ton of different half-finished systems in place, some of them overlapping with eachother, while people really just want them to iron things out, focus on the structural issues people have when trying to launch a game with unity (unity was actually doing something like this, they were making a whole full fledged game in unity internally and going to release it as an example project. it got cancelled because they ran into structural issues trying to launch a game with unity . )

SO, basically . long story short its complicated . a lot of the initial issues got reversed, but the fact that they thought it was a good idea in the first place reveals larger issues that are going to take a while to address and build back trust of developers again . do what you feel is best for you. i Want off the unity ship but for me its going to have to be when im in a more stable place to actually do that... some day i hope to try out godot

okay, here's a long post talking about my thoughts on dungeons and daddies, s2ep45, hell or high father. obvious spoiler warning, im gonna be talking about the events of the episode, but this is going to be more outside the fourth wall focused/thinking about what the pacing says about the narrative, rather than actually talking about what happened in this episode!! also ive only listened to the episode once so if i missed anything, feel free to say so

to start immediately: i loved this episode, but i was also disappointed that ron, terry, and scary didn't get a full episode. but i was thinking about why that would be the case, and that lead me to the two reasons im speculating:

Beth felt that Scary's arc didn't necessitate a big ending and that it came to a clean closing with that scene

This episode shows the narrative divide between the Stampler family and the Close family

the first reason is mostly a timing thing. they included taylor in this episode as well because scary's conclusion didn't need the full run time, or maybe even lincoln's episode was longer than they wanted it to be and scary was supposed to be in that arc as well. the pacing was just a result of the past few episodes: scary has already confronted that she regrets how she treated terry, we've seen that a million times. ever since his death, she's confronted that fact again and again, and i think it makes sense that this episode would resolve that in a much quieter way than it could've. the stamplers have always been the family to resolve things 'the right way' - they show up for each other, they love each other unconditionally, they finish their arcs by holding one another in forgiveness. even if i wouldve loved a longer memory (though holy shit, WE SAW THE BETRAYAL ON SCREEN-- sorry not the point of this post), and i really hope we get some more with them in upcoming episodes, i did like how it was so sweetly resolved!!

and that sweetness leads into the bulk of my thoughts here: scary and taylor shared an episode because of how differently their memories went.

as soon as nicky went "i have a memory you weren't around for", i knew we were in for a fucking ROLLERCOASTER, and holy shit. the entire played out montage of glenn failing to be there for nicky, failing to be there for taylor, and in turn, taylor finally tells nicky to his face that he wasn't there for taylor either. taylor's fixation on the idea of redoing it all with time travel, because there is no other way, in his mind, to solve the rift in their relationship. "there's no fixing this." there's too much baggage, there's too much thats already been fucked up, and theres no way for them to come back from that. nicky is a grown adult. taylor is already in his teen years. they can form a relationship with their dad now, but no matter how well that goes, its never going to fix the childhood behind them that was already ruined. they do love each other, they're friends, but being friends doesnt equal a true good relationship. being friends doesnt mean you succeeded in parenting.

and now we contrast that with the stamplers. both terry junior and scary go into their relationship with their stepdads seeing him as an inferior replacement, as someone who could never truly be their dad. terry junior loved his biological dad, is literally named after him. scary's dad was so absent in her life that she doesnt know how to handle someone actually being there. they both refuse to take the replacement, until eventually, they learn that their stepdad's strength is that hes a new man. not a replacement, but his own full person, a person who loves them. ron put his life on the line for terry, time and time again, because he didnt want to be his own dad. terry showed up to all of scarys soccer matches, even when she refused to even acknowledge him, because he didnt want to be her bio dad. "you showed up." even though terry's memory is literally him using ron, it ends with ron forgiving him without a second thought. when scary apologizes to terry, terry takes her into his arms with a moment's hesitation.

the stamplers have a happy ending because even with how badly they've fucked up, they always showed up for their kids. the closes don't have a happy ending because they weren't in their kids' lives and they think being friends now fixes that. and that's why scary and taylor shared their episode, really. because it drives home the crucial difference between the two families

overview

so first and foremost—my season is going to be filled with all of my designs blowing up, making hundreds of dollars a week, improving my relationship with my boyfriend, and getting a new charger. I wrote out everything in detail so that way it was easier for me to understand exactly what I want like shipping out orders and stuff in my new car, taking a trip to NY, collaborating with some designers that I really like + meeting some designers as well, having hella photo shoots, etc! so it starts off with me getting a new car, it’s easier for me to process all of my orders and get yarn/make clothing just because I have a more efficient car.

dec 3-10

this week was full of me reminding myself im living in my season and my whole idea is about my buisness blowing up and a new carr so ngl its already blown up a little cause someone posted my skirt but it slowed down and now its picking back up. one thing that I’m trying to remember is that I’m not going to know how good it is to have a lot of sales unless I know what it’s like to have lower sales like understanding the duality of owning a business that not every single day you’re going to have the most ideal amount of sales, but that time to be creative and breathe will definitely lead you to that outcome in the long run. I made 4 sales this week so its definitely making me feel a little like imposter syndrome like this cant be happening blah blah blah but I quickly redirected my thoughts to, “what happens in my season? my business was meant to blow up, this is what I’m meant to be doing.”

dec 11-18

okay I made 6 more sales, when I started I had 25 now I’m at 35 so I feel hella confident because I’m constantly falling asleep doing SATS. I can literally feel all the excitement and anxiety and nerves that come with an abundance of success. I sold my biggest custom order to a new client, this two piece set and a fur skirt so I’m like damn. its only bigger and better from here. another thing I added was me and my boyfriend are getting better and connecting more and I feel like our relationship is definitely growing in a healthier way. I made around $300 this week from my pieces so I cant even be upset if I wanted to (,:

dec 19-25

so okay new updateee I sold another 3 item set so I made another $100 this week, mind you im writing this the 21st so the week’s not even over yet, and I feel hella confident in my season. I finally finished drafting everything thats happening. im also having a lot of fun maintaining that it’s already mine. I literally spend so much time vaunting. I was meant to be a designer. of course I have sales, im that bitch. people loovee my clothes cause who else is doing it like me? literally nobodyy. this is what gets me to feel more confident too, if you’re not reassuring yourself who is yk? and my relationship is sooo goodd 🥺 like its been so peaceful and my bf has been surprising me with pinterest dates and shit like what is my lifee!!

ima come back and update after my moms bday, I always have a routine for the new year which is expelling all old energy. like cleaning my room, donating clothes, i also sage everything, make new sigils, wash my hair and alll my clothes so yeah lol i have a feeling the new energy will be beautiful.

okay I’ve been learning how to sew and I’ve been getting really really good at it. like making my own pieces by myself—before I used to have my mom help me, but now I actually know how to sew fr. I wanna show y’all so ill insert some things ive made/been making. ngl tho I think ima give it like a week or so more to really saturate my mind because I been listening to this sub by slade and its really been helping but I gotta focus on consistency! so thats really what im focusing on through the 15th so more updates around then!! my goal is to have more posts and get ready for a mini photoshoot.

jan 4th.. coming up with designs that are exactly what I envision/things that ive never seen knit or done in this style. made my collab post but skeptical about when I should make my collab collection so well see but I feel like the things im making rn are multimillion dollar designs like I can feel it in my core. also about to clean my car out soon to trade my car in for the charger of my dreams, apparently my parents were looking for chargers for monthsss and didn’t tell me cause they wanted to surprise me.. for reference y’all I literally have a charger sub i made 5 months ago and was so in my head about it but now i feel like my mind is fully saturated. every time I drive, it feels like im already in a new car, I imagine it in the driveway. I already have it in the 4d so its beyond mine in the 3d.

jan 7.. omg so update, I literally cleaned my car out today and I’m trading it in on friday like what the fuck is my lifee I knew it would happen but this was the first time where I realy put my foot down and envisioned myself driving the car literally everywhere. I race ppl like im in a charger already lmaoo the planes were bound to align sooner or later!! ill insert how it looks when it gets here yall we might have to order it but this is the first step in my journey—I get my charger, my design acc blows up, and so forth. okay hi guys I made 2 sales recently and I just got my charger, everything literally feels like it’s falling into place and it’s kind of surreal. I think I’m gonna make a part two for my results because this post is getting helllla long but I GOT A 2023 CHARGER STX and tbh I wanted an R/T but the only one I could get was 2015 so im just hella happy I got a brand new car and it looks EXACTLY HOW I WANT—black rims, spoiler, it looks so mean!!! ugh im in love. peep my noface air freshener from my last car (,: and it only has 10 miles yall… I love using seasons so much

JWCC Majors

What I think the Jwcc characters majors would be in celebration for me being accepted into college!

Okay starting off easy,

Darius:

He would go into paleontology with a minor in public speaking.

Paleontology is obvious and I can imagine if dinosaurs had been roaming around for so long at this point expensive colleges would have more live dinosaur-study based classes. So if those were to exist he'd definitely take them and constantly correct the professor.

Public speaking because he was already very vocal about the treatment of dinosaurs but he wanted other people to take him seriously when he spoke.

Brooklynn:

Out of all the characters in the epilogue we actually see her working as like a spy. So I think she'd definitely be riding that high from being famous when she was younger to get into a lot of high profile parties and such...thats besides the point.

She be a computer science major with a minor in political studies.

I can also see her eventually becoming a lawyer and Darius and Brooklynn becoming like the ultimate power couple when it comes to defending dinosaurs for abuse/ illegal trade.

Yaz:

She would go to college on a track scholarship 100%. But she can't major in track. Originally she thought she'd major in sports management because its what most athletes do.

BUT Sammy convinces her to pursue her passion with art and she becomes an enigma at her college for hanging out with the art kids and the sports kids. Majoring in art classes but spending all her free time on the field.

No one can figure out how she made so many friends. Nor how they all came together.

Sammy:

I can't see Sammy wanting to go to college at first. She'd worried about her family's finances and being away from the farm again. But one video chat from her friends convinces her that she has to start living her life too.

She starts her freshman year intending to major in agriculture as it would make perfect sense to continue the family business.

In the spring semester (her schedule changed) she accidentally sits in on a biology lecture and absolutely falls in love with it.

It reminds her a lot of the papers she used to send to Manta Corp when she was a spy. The combination of so much background knowledge shocks a lot of people. They ask where she grew up and she shrugs and tells them about the farm in Texas.

Shocking literally everyone without realizing it.

She graduates with a bioengineering phd

Ben:

He was the last one to graduate, finding it hard to get back to a regular life after the island.

First, he goes abroad for a while, nearly cutting off contact from them all before being tracked down by May and dragged back to the lab.

He interns for her at her new dinosaur research facility and he realizes all the skills he learned from the island don't have to go to waste as he looks at the plants around.

He becomes fascinated by them, since they had to be brought back similarly to dinosaurs in order to feed them. May helps him pay for college on the mainland.

He majors in paleobotany and whatever other certifications he needs to become a dinosaur trainer

Kenji:

He knew that he would have to major in business since he was a kid. He was always supposed to take over his Dad's company. So it wasn't a surprise when he went into. He loathed it.

Through a combination of encouragement for his friends and (new) family he tries to discover things about himself in college. About his interests.

Unlike the others he never wants to work with dinosaurs again (can someone say trauma) so that's immediately off the table.

But being the rich guy he is, Kenji funds himself through college and takes a bunch of classes that peak his interest

He's really shitty at art but he always sends the finished products to Sammy as a gift (she has a self of deformed mugs and when anyone asks she shows them off like a proud mom over their kid's finger painting) he tries public speaking but he gets bored, its too much like business. He likes acting, but he knows it was never something he could pursue in his free time and drops it. He was about to give up when he enrolled in a psychology class.

(Maybe to figure out why his dad did what he did or why all his friends were messed up after the island.) For whatever reason he finds himself entranced by it.

He double majors in business and psychology

This was entirely self indulgent but it was fun!

Reunited

A/n: okay quick drabble and I'm not a HUGE fan of ABO [like if I wrote an ABO fix I would practically change the entire dynamic to the point where it's just shifter/fic labelled ABo yknow?]

But I just thought of something.

So Its the skinner scene, where Shen Qingqiu climbs up the stairs and see's Luo Binghe for the first time.

But in this world, Shen Yuan has NO clue that Shen Qingqiu was an omega! In his stories he was always labelled as a posturing Alpha etc.

Even better if SY world was like ours and HAD no dynamics so he keeps forgetting procedure and the mountain basically let it slide because he was being really cute?

But outside the sect it could be considered rude, but they just think eh thats just SQQ the rude bitch.

But SY never cared about the dynamics before, or the heats, or anything like that or cared.

Until this moment.

When he lost Binghe was may have been a bit down [his maritial siblings thought he could die of heartbreak, an omega who lost a pup esp someone as close as Binghe they REALLY worried for his health and never left him alone!]

So now as Shen Qingqiu saw Binghe?

His brain, and logical side knew Binghe was dangerous, he would come back eventually, it was too soon, and he should run.

His body however had other plans and decided to have a complete breakdown, looking back he would be embarrsed.

But his scent was overhwelming in it's grief, to the point where even the sneering disciples faltered, looking almost shoked and worried for the Peak Lord even Gongyi Xiao gasped,

"Master Shen-"

His danger senses were on mute, all that mattered was that Binghe was here, and Shen Qingqius body moved on its own. He had no idea he would need to touch Binghe, to scent him, to know he was okay for a moment- when Shen Qingqiu stabbed him he worried he made things difficult for Binghe.

Or worse, if Binghe wouldn't return or want to see him again-

it didn't matter as he was suddenly clinging to Binghe and crying over and over again.

He had no idea what he was saying but the system didn't berate him so he let it slide, meanwhile Luo Binghe couldn't breathe or move.

He never predicted this outcome, he hesitently touched Shen Qingqius arms and felt the other latch on further, apologies spilling from his Shizuns lips and seemed as if he may even Qi deviate if he didn't calm down soon!

Luo Binghe hummed, holding him close and stroking his back while releasing his own pheromones to help soothe his Shizun, the Huan Hua delegation must have left them alone except for Gongyi Xiao, a beta who stood guard over the two.

Or in case Binghe took advantage of an omega in this state, his lip curled.

"Shizun, this one is alive, all is well." He spoke, all of his plans turned to dust. He wanted to prove himself, that being a heavenly demon wasn't all he was. He wanted to prove he was a reliable cultivator and was worthy of his Shizun and yet this proved that he did regret it!

When Luo Binghe took Shen Qingqiu back to the Inn with his Marital uncles, Shen Qingqiu was mortified by what transpired, even when both Liu Qingge and Mu Qingfang confirmed what Shen Qingqiu was doing in his abscence.

Luo Binghe could feel his chest overflow with emotions as he looked at his Shizun in wonder. It was too good to be true!

And let his own excitment, Xin Mo and being so close to Shen Qingqiu who even after his qi deviation hadn't learned to curb his own scent because he was never taught how to, Luo Binghe clutched his hand.

"Shizun, let me court you! This Binghe wants to come home to the bamboo house and cook you food and wake up beside you everyday!"

Shen Qingqiu blinked...what!?

"Please Shizun, consider this unworthy disciple-"

He barely finished before Liu Qingge tacklet him through the door out into the street where a brawl began.

I don’t remember if this was canon or just fanon, but there was something about Mei and putting trackers on her friends? In the TMKATI-verse, this could be her way of dealing with her parents, to know where her family is. Some keep them on them for her sake.

But what if it those trackers also had cameras and could record sound?

And it recorded the moment Mr. Star Lord of Fire hit Li Jing with his car?

I am only saying this because it would make for Nezhas favorite video clip ever.

And him showing it to Canon!Nezha would be good too. He’d get a human world phone just to have this video with him, I think.

May or may not show it to the rest of the canon group – many reactions ensue, at least a few snickers to a cackle.

But imagine, later – Li Jing for some reason has arrived and has to tell the canon-gang something (can be anything, not important). The Eclipse twins are placed a in a hastily made nest from the scarves/capes and given a phone with a video playing as distraction, while the grown ups deal with that a-hole.

And he’s talking.

Man’s posturing more than saying the very important thing somebody high up in the Celestial Realm sent him to say. It’s very annoying. The 30 minute video the cubs were watching has ended already and they are now randomly jumping from video to video.

Until the algorithm manages something magical.

The next video they play, is the cucaracha car horn.

It is loud.

Loud that the gang instantly stiffen and desperately stone their expressions to not burst out a laugh.

Probably doesn’t help that the ‘huh’ sound Li Jing made was almost similar to the sound he made when hit with the car.

At least that got him to finish the message and leave.

Cackles ensue. The twins are confused but okay with the hugs baba is giving them.

Mei does in canon have trackers on the rest of the Monkie Kid gang as mentioned in "Noodles or Death", it's how they're able to find out where Pigsy and Tang are; apparently a camera is attached to Tang's glasses.

“I attached cameras to all of you guys a while back. Not so creepy now, is it?” ―Mei

The canon series doesn't really expand upon it much afterwards beyond being an easy way for the crew to find out where Tang and Pigsy went.

Baby Mei def had attachment issues - her dragon parents knew she was the new Ring of Samadhi, and they didn't want to "get too attached" (especially with a warning from Ao Guang about something big going down), and after the whole "batman-ing" happens...

Cue a baby dragon with separation anxiety who screams if she isn't in the presence of at least one of her caretakers. Like she'd start crying if someone went to the bathroom without her.

Mei got better as she got older, but she always had very bad anxiety regarding her family members even as an adult. She started to worry about the ways her adoptive family could be hurt and unable to contact her. An Incident where MK got himself into some hero-nonsense as a kid and couldn't answer his phone for many hours, Mei had a straight up panic attack, worried that her little brother had gotten hurt.

The trackers/cameras came in as a compromise to Mei clinging to MK 24/7 after the incident. It really helped to put her anxiety at ease and allow for her and MK do their own things as teenagers. As someone who grew up with anxiety, its kinda hard to learn to just "go do stuff" on your own.

Pigsy thinks the cameras/trackers are a bit creepy, but Macaque and Wukong are like; "How is it any different from us using our powers to keep tabs on you guys?" Pigsy in turn argues that the monkeys don't have a chance of catching him in the bathroom ("I use Gold Vision all the time during work to see if you're in the can or not."). Eventually the arguments peter off until the adults just agree to keep the trackers on their phones/personal effects.

MK in turn is very meticulous on keeping himself findable for Mei.

MK: *is being kidnapped by Villains of the Week* MK: "I wanna warn you guys, I swallowed an air tag." VOWs: *shared looks of confusion*

And ofc due to at least one family member at a time having a camera on them, especially during missions...

Okay can we talk about what a masterpiece SGA's "Vegas" is?

I rewatched it recently and WOW I am blown away.

From a creative standpoint, its genuis because it's obviously only there to write the writers out of a corner. The only way the show can end is if the Wraith find Earth. But a subspace broadcast is impossible in the Prime universe. And instead of making up some technobabble bullshit, they went all out and created a whole new, fleshed out reality just to get the finale rolling.

Then of course theres the camp. The twangs whenever Sheppard walks through the door? The eagle screech too!! And the fucking Wraith cosmetics and the poker game??? It reads like fanfic which is about the highest compliment I could give an epiosde.

But the meat is Sheppard.

Sheppard's character is also so on point. Even in this different reality he still had his core traits (accidental chosen one, socially awkward, and self-sacrificing dumbass). He's still just some guy who stumbles onto the Stargate program and somehow becomes the most important player in a game he just learned existed! (Again)

Whats more, it's almost a Universe where he decides "thats not for me." Almost one where he gets out unscathed, undeveloped. For a second you think "thats not the Sheppard I know." And then he turns around, and we see him speed through a character arc in less than 10 minutes. He goes from a solitary man, to a part of something, to an action hero, to a Shakespearan tragic hero in the blink of an eye.

Then he (dies??) Alone, saving the day oh my god

His fate plays out like all the other times he risked his life should have. Its a redo of Rising and The Definant One and any other episode where we know there should be no way out for John. It's as if its fulfilling some guns blazing prophecy or promise. Our Sheppard is on borrowed time. He knows it and we know it. Vegas acts as the should-be narrative end to his arc.

It's the one where he decides to take full action, to save the day. He does it with no help and in the end it kills him. He fulfills some sort of destiny, but only in this universe. In Prime his efforts play out exactly as they always do. We get to keep him, and the writers get to finish his story.

And of course its better that way, because our John has friends, and a life, and everything he might have dreamed about. He can't very well die in the last episode, not after five seasons of growth.

Maybe this is way off the mark, but that's how I read the epiosde. A tragedy and a comedy about one man against the world. A classic action hero story for a man who can never be that character (and never should be)

first of all, id like to mention that the art i posted just now was art that i had finished last night, before everything about mcpig came to light and i just wanted to post it since i already had it done…still unsure if im going to draw consistent pizza tower in the future honestly, id like to because its a lot of fun and i really do love a lot about the game. ideally, the current situation would change somehow so i can do that without any discomfort for myself or others, but the only way i foresee that happening is if the devs actually remove the racist shit from the game

what makes me feel (kind of) okay about producing fanart for the game despite what emerged is mostly the fact that as long as i am not reproducing the harmful contents of the game, nor directly supporting the people behind it, im not putting any harm into the world or perpetuating the 4chan stuff i guess? the only thing im really worried about is possibly getting people to want to buy the game by putting my fanart out there, but considering the games popularity from streaming and youtube videos i dont see my own art as contributing to that much. that makes it easier for me not to feel unsettled when i draw fanart for it, but i think that depends on how you view the relationship between fanart and source material, especially in an interactive space like the internet. if you think your art risks sending the message that you approve of negative aspects of a piece of media then its probably better not to share that art

theres also the fact that from the messages that were revealed i get the impression that at some point mcpig had a sort of disdain for "cringe leftists" being fans of the game i guess, and i would consider myself someone who he would/would have found cringe at one point lol. so by being into the game its kind of a fuck you idc that you hate me, this thing you made is being enjoyed by cringe leftists. considering the tone of some of the messages was "if people get mad at me im just going to be edgy in response" i dont even think disengaging with the game would even bother him at all. but all of that is really just speculation and i dont want to insinuate that engaging with bigoted media is proactive just because you are a marginalized person or have progressive politics. its important to actually weigh the harm of your actions and what effect you have with your consumption of said media i dont really know if thats a good answer though, and if it holds up to any sort of moral judgement. i do think its possible to enjoy problematic media, but considering how new the game is its not the kind of thing i can look at and be like "this piece of media is from x years ago and doesnt do real harm now". my worst fear is that there are pizza tower fans who are going to see the awful shit in the game and replicate it, bc the game somehow makes them thinks theres nothing wrong with it or that they can do so without consequence. just from a scope of the fandom there seem to be a lot of young teenagers so Yeah. im concerned in that regard and id like to beam a message into kids' brains thats just like Hey this character design/behavior fucking sucks Dont do this

so, by posting my art anyway i hope i can contribute to a portion of the fanbase that is outwardly against the bigoted content in the game, as an alternative to mcpig dick riders/defenders. and if there are any fans out there involved in the community who dont know better, hopefully they can learn, and avoid perpetuating bigotry

all that being said, your feelings on the matter may be very different, and you dont have to abide to any of this thinking. if a piece of media is upsetting you, its okay to step away from it as long as you need. maybe see how you feel when you come back to it and if the hateful feelings are still there, there is no obligation to engage further

summary: you’ve never really been fond of steve harrington. but your best friend is his roommate and theyre hitting it off pretty good, so you just might have to see him every day for the next four years. so maybe making him slightly more tolerable wouldnt hurt..

The books weighed heavy in my arms as i stood outside of the crappy off campus apartment my best friend now lives in. Sure, i havent been inside yet, but knowing Eddie, i was 1000% sure that it was some sort of fucked up. Aspects AU, Part 2

Okay, I find it really importang to share some random headcannons from Turtleduck and I for this AU.

Also I just finished the TV show, and the Brain Rot is back.

The day that Luke and Thalia and Annabeth stumbled to camp, Annabeth didn’t lose a big brother and sister- she gained one. Dionysus showed his care. Unfortunately, this didn’t save Luke.

It is incredibly important to me that you understand that Dionysus is basically a licensed therapist and he enforces good mental health practices on the kiddos.

Luke, after his quest, becomes hyper-paranoid and avoids Dionysus. This backfires, as Kronos’s manipulation gets worse and worse, and Luke can barely tell which way is up by the time Percy gets to camp. Kronos had to use a lot of effort to use him to hurt Percy.

However… this helps in Titan’s Curse, because Di senses the magically inflicted madness when he snaps the human mercenaries minds.

You also need to know that some of the kids unironically call him Daddy. Some do it as a joke, but the youngest ones tend to see him as a second(or third) dad.

Percy meets him, and Di’s actions are what secures his loyalty to Olympus. The same for most kids. If Luke controlled his own facilities, he wouldn’t have helped Kronos.

Its super important that you know Luke is ABSOLUTELY a victim in this AU. ALL the demigods are. Percy is loyal only because at least One god showed that he cared.

Dionysus hs beef with Ares after the lightning thief. He also found the medusa thing HILARIOUS.

Dionysus sends Demigod Report Cards home. Godly parents are expected to sign the jacket and send it back. He even got several to pay an allowance.

Los Santos - Progress Report 2022 - Part 4b: Back on track talking about roads

Okay now again...

This is a pretty in depth, technical and passionate talk about road textures I guess

During last years work on Los Santos (which was mainly september... Okay actually I think it was only september. But hey I haven’t made that much progress in any other year!) I replaced some road textures and reworked some road layouts that already existed. When a project is stretched out in such a long time window (2016-now) you not only work in one direction (from start to finish) but you also occasionally completely rework stuff from before. In all these years from 2016 this has been the only CAW project I’ve worked on. With every year I’m learning new quirks and tricks about the game and caw.

Now this is the point where I diverge from Part 4a

My issue with the previous roads is that they were compelety random textures grabbed from everywhere (GTA V Assets, Store Worlds, Internet and more...). They kind of looked like what I wanted them to look like but they didn’t match that well across the board.

If there was one single thing that I could change about how the worlds work in The Sims 3 it would be the road system. Don’t get me wrong. The roads in The Sims 3 are miles ahead (haha miles) of what we got in say The Sims 2. Sims 3 Roads can curve, run in any angle to the world grid, have different textures, working bridges,... Thats all stuff that Sims 2 can’t. At least from neighborhood view. In lot view roads can be a bit more flexible. But still I’d say that Sims 3 Roads are superior. Yet they only have one lane per side. They always have a sidewalk. They always have the same width. They are completely flat and normal maps can only do so much. I mean it’s okay. Its not Cities:Skylines or SimCity but things could be better.

My new roads work around many of the issues that I previously had with Sims 3 Roads. The new road textures are AGES ahead of the old ones and I spent like 2 weeks making and adjusting the textures (shoutout to the Pixelmator Pro developers for creating an Image Editor that doesn’t drive me crazy)

But let me go into detail:

The difference in detail when you see before and after next to each other is simply astonishing even for me. Look at how much more grungy and used the new roads look. Also note the asymmetric nature of them.

The old textures for this road were mainly modified roads from Roaring Heights. I had then made minor modifications by adding a curb to give the road more dimension. I originally picked that road because I liked the yellowish sidewalk which is also in Sunset Valley I think and it was the only one that also had these red plastered crosswalks that LA is so famous for.

Here you can see more of how much more detail the roads have. The curb has proper coloring compared to the sidewalk and there is a *whatever you call that part between the curb and asphalt* which has a dirty appearance while not looking too repeated.

Note: The curb has no seams and seems to be like one super long piece of curb (new insult unlocked you pice of curb) because the road detail texture repeats three times in one sidewalk til. If there was a seam the curb pieces would be super small.

A difficulty with repeating textures is always making them look detailed, contrasted and sharp without making them look too busy and repeated.

The sidewalk texture is a blend of the default sidewalk texture and a concrete texture. I then changed the color and added details by hand like the all the cracks and irregularities. Notice how the sidewalk gets very slightly darker to the seams too add more depth. Something like this has to be done very subtly so it doesn’t get overdone.

By crafting the road textures myself I can also work around issues that I had before.

I was actually a bit sad replacing the road texture in the vinewood hills area since that light road texture was the very first I used in this world. It was here from the start you could say. The textures were sourced from Lucky Palms where they’re used as freeway.

Now with the new roads I can fix the crossings that can’t have transparency on the sidewalk. The corners have the dirt/sand texture painted onto them so It gives them the illusion of transparency and they blend with their surroundings.

The road details are also handpainted. The yellow lines in the middle and the white borders. In the newer picture you can see how this unifies the different types of roads. The darker old road had white lines in the middle, while the lighter road had yellow lines that were also bigger.

Notice how the old roads were all over the place. The dark and light roads had no actual connection to each other. I mean they were connected but there is no relation between them. They could very well be in two completely different worlds. They don’t tell a story. The new roads do. You can see how these two roads are subject to the same law. The lines have to be the same as that’s how they are meant to be. You could think about how the darker roads are more fresh and how they were paved onto the lighter roads because they were too broken but they didn’t pave the road completely because of financial constraints and other parts still being okay.

It’s laughable but you can really think of an entire story just for a section of a road.

Now onto my favorite part about the new roads! I got really excited when I realized I could do this. Using the road detail overlay I created road sections that are bicolored. In my opinion this little detail makes the world look so much more realistic. It just gives it that extra layer of depth and I love it.

Previously I only had roads connected to each other that had completely different colors (top picture). Now I am able to connect these in a way that makes them look like only one side got new pavement and the other lane was still okay so they left as is. This one road you see in the bottom picture looks completely natural like one road that got new pavement in some areas, when it’s actually technically 3 different roads:

more used light colored road, mix of new and old road, newer dark road

How much a neighborhood can change when you replace the roads. Kind of funny how clean perfect roads were replaced with cracked used roads yet the crappy roads make the area look better.

Some roads in Los Santos are really, really broken and in dire need of complete repaving! Why do I even pay taxes??? I wanted a road that resembles just that! Look at how broken the road is. Full of seams filled with tar and how each tile is colored a bit differently. Also I alternated the direction of the road every now and then to break up the repetition. Do you notice the thin lines that run on each tile?

I feel like this was the hardest road to not overdo. It’s a really busy pattern but in my opinion it still looks good. For each road I had to balance the textures between GTA V’s art style, Sims 3′s art style, my desired art style, and reality. I wanted to make them look as good and realistic as I could without making them look completely out of place. Always remember: They need to look good with a Sim standing on them, a house being next to them and a Sims 3 basegame car on them. All of these have to fit together without making any one of them looking edited in. I cant replace every single game asset after all. Or could I? *Vsauce music starts playing*

Now after my TED Talk about Sims 3 Roads is over I may have come to the conclusion that the roads are the single most important thing to mind when creating a world (next to terrain). They are the connection between every single point in the world and a gateway into the heart of the created world. When you see the roads, you know what kind of place the world is trying to represent. Just take a look at all the different EA worlds and how different the roads can be (e.g. Monte Vista vs Twinbrook).

Y/n, a budding young hero, from a hero family, enters UA high. She expected struggle and work, she didnt expect for her life to be at risk, she also didn’t expect to fall for one of her classmates, but life’s just full of surprises.

Chapter two

Content warning: swearing, slight mentions of shotos childhood.

Shoto walks into Y/N's house, using the key her parents gave him, and up to her door. "Y/N you awake?" He asks while knocking on it.

"Yeah I'm awake, I'll be out in a second." She yells through the door fixing the last button on her uncooperative uniform. She then opens the door and smiles at him. Grabbing her bag and slipping her shoes on.

"Are we still going on the shopping trip after school?" Shoto asks curiously while walking out the door.

"Of course, as long as you have your dads credit card." She replies with a smirk, following him out the door.

Shoto smirks back and pulls out the unlimited credit card. "As always."

"You know, its odd that he just lets us take the card and charge the hell out of it" she mentions, finding it odd that he hasn't yelled at Shoto yet, as he will usually do that about him breathing to hard.

"Fyoumi and Natsuo delete the messages and voicemails that the credit card company sends after telling them that it was ok." Shoto tells her, smirking at how smart he and his older siblings can be. The two of them make it to school, only to see it absolutely swarmed by the press.

"Shit" she mumbles. "Shoto can I turn into a mouse and hide in your pocket." She beggs not wanting to deal with them.

"No if I have to suffer so do you." He replies now in his usual monotone voice.

"Miss mind giving us a statement on how the no.1 hero is doing as a teacher?" This reporter, shorter than you are, asks you; shoving the microphone in your face.

"He's really good so far I've learned a lot." She says trying to keep them from noticing shoto, unfortunately she's unsuccessful.

"Are you related to the hero duo, phenix?" A reporter asks, mentioning her pro hero parents.

"Wait your endeav-!"

"Finish that fücking sentence I dare you, His name is Shoto not endeavors son!" She yells getting pissed because people only ever see him as endeavors kid.

"Ok and were going now." Shoto says in his regular monotone voice dragging her into the school kicking and screaming.

By the time the two reach the classroom she has calmed down enough to walk on her own.

The h/c haired girl walks to her desk obviously annoyed.

"Whats up with you." Bakugou asks looking at the girl beside him.

"Stupid reporters only seeing heros kids as nothing but a way to find out more about the heros." I say angrily, slouching back in my chair.

"Thats fucked." He replies, as he waits for class to start.

First person POV

"Alright class today your going to pick your class representatives. I don't care how Just don't wake me up." Aizawa says While climbing into his sleeping bag and falling asleep.

As soon as Aizawa passes out the class erupts into utter chaos. Seemingly everyone wanting to be the rep. We finally manage to get a voting system down.

"Okay and the final tally is up" Iida calls out to the class.

"Midoria is the class rep and momo is the assistant rep." He continues, hiding his disappointment.

I walk up to him and pat him on the back. "If it makes you feel better I voted for you." I tell him trying to make him feel a bit better.

"Thank you L/N, that means a lot." He says with a slight smile.

"No problem Iida." I say returning the smile. I walk back to my seat next to Bakugo and see him looking a bit angrier than before.

"You good bakugo?" I ask tilting my head to the side slightly.

"Yeah I'm fine you damn shifter." He grumbles.

"Okay mr grumpy." I reply and sit in my seat. I can feel bakugo glaring at me until the bell for lunch rings. I sit behind for a moment before getting up to let the crowd of hungry teens go first.

"I hate crowds." I mumble to myself. While walking.

"Who doesn't." Bakugo says while walking behind me.

"Oh, hey bakugo." I respond a little startled.

He merely grunts in response, and we continue the walk in a comfortable silence. We enter the lunch room and get our food, as I'm about to go sit with shoto bakugo grabs my arm.

"Where are you going? The idiots are waiting for us." He asks gruffly, and drags me to the table.

He pulls me into the seat and I almost fall on him, but manage to simply sit next to him.

We eat in silence until.

"So Y/N you and todoroki seem close." Mina says with a smile.

"Uh yeah, we're best friends. I've known him since I was 5." I respond while setting down my chopsticks.

"Are you sure your just friends, you seem very protective of each other?" Denki asks tuning into the conversation.

"Yes im sure, we're just friends, he was the first friend I ever made." I say starting to get agitated.

"Why don't you both leave her the fuck alone!" Bakugo shouts at them, cutting them off.

"Sorry y/n." Denki and mina mutter.

"It's alright guys."

The group is oddly silent until an alarm starts ringing

I freeze in my seat instead of following the others. The sheer mass of people is terrifying.

"Hey, dumb ass, lets go." Bakugo shouts at me over the alarm. 

When I don't respond he simply picks me up bridal style and starts carrying me like I weigh nothing to him.

"B-bakugo what are you doing?" 

"We needed to leave, and you weren't moving." He shouts over the alarm.

"Okay." I shout and wrap my arms around his neck, for stability. We enter the hallway and are quickly surrounded by people, causing me to bury my head in his shoulder.

"Careful idiot, don't want people getting the wrong idea do you?"

I simply grumble in response, to scared to move my face.

"Whatever loser." He mumbles just loud enough for me to hear.

I block everything but bakugou out focusing on him to prevent a panic attack.

He smells like caramel and smoke, its really nice. I think, subconsciously burying my face deeper into his shoulder.

Soon we are moving again and he is able to set me down. He sets me in front of the classroom door.

"So the damn extras don't think something's going on between us." He tells me as I grab the door handle.

We both walk into class and I'm quickly bombarded by Shoto.

"Are you okay,That crowd was massive and I couldn't find you?" He almost shouts gently grabbing my arms.

"Yeah im okay, Bakugou found me and made sure I didn't have a panic attack." I tell him softly.

"Thank you Bakugou." Shoto says flatly.

"Yeah whatever icy hot." He responds and goes and sits at his desk.

Shoto gives me a quick hug before going back to his seat.

I can feel the rest of the girls curious stairs as I go to sit at my desk.

"Alright sho, lets go spend your dad into bankruptcy!" I shout as we walk up to the mall.

We wander around the mall for a bit until we run into bakugou and a blonde woman whos a little bit shorter than him.

"Bakugou?!" I shout questioningly.

He looks around angrily until he sees me and his expression softens slightly.

"Oh hey loser." He responds as we walk up to them.

"Katsuki be nice!" The blonde woman says snaking him on the back of his head.

I glance at Shoto to make sure he's okay after seeing that. He's tenser than normal but otherwise ok.

"Hi, I'm Mitsuki, Katsuki's mother." She says with a smile.

"Hello Mitsuki, im Y/N and this is Todoroki, were Bakugous classmates." I respond respectfully while hiding my disdain for her casual abuse of Bakugou.

"Well it was good to meet you two, I was just dropping Katuski off, and I'll leave you all alone." She says as she walks off.

As soon as shes gone Shoto visibly relaxes.

"You good Icey hot?" Bakugou asks.

"Your mom triggered an issue he has." I explain quickly.

"Cant he speak for himself?" Katsuki asks incredulously.

I glance at shoto and he nods softly at me.

"Your mom triggered a traumatic event from my childhood." He responds flatly.

"You okay?" He asks simply.

Shoto simply nods.

"Alright well, why are you two here?" Katsuki asks curiously.

"We're going on a shopping spree with endeavors credit card." I say with a smug smile on my face.
