heres my pitch. i feel like it speaks for itself but i'll explain my reasoning.
making larry a girl: biggest bang for your buck in terms of girlifying a member of the ace attorney cast. i think if phoenix and edgeworth had a dirtbag lesbian friend who tried to make herself go bi but couldnt and keeps showing up to be a general nuisance that would be hysterical.
godot and blackquill: being a girl wouldn't fix the absolute dogshit narrative contrivances that prevent either of them from having the capability to be good characters but it would win them a huge amount of grace i am not presently willing to grant.
i dont think i need to elaborate on this one.
lang and van zieks also are already hysterical not as women but i think if you girled them it would really just bring an entire new level to it. although part of what makes lang funny is the gay shit he has going on with edgeworth i think a girl lang would look insanely dykey which would add a completely different angle to the humor there. van zieks white girl wasted in the courtroom self explanatory.
gumshoe apollo and ryuunosuke are all characters i like but i honestly dont think being girls would significantly shift the way i feel about them
clearly if you make one of narumitsu a girl you have to make them both girls because making this dynamic het ruins it for me.
finally we have klavier who i think is more fun as a boy. i think making him into a girl would lose a little bit of the disney channel original movie love interest vibes that are absolutely critical to peak klavierism. also if we have girl klavier but boy apollo that's also unacceptable to me because im categorically against hot women caring about lameass dudes. not that apollo being lame is a point against him as a character its one of his most important traits. but its not something women should be concerned with.

Ari's K-Pop Roundup: May 2024 (aespa, NewJeans, IVE, tripleS, YVES, ARTMS + MORE)
sorry this one was a little late - it was partly due to my personal life being a bit hectic at the moment, and partly due to the amount of stuff I wanted to say about this month's releases. check out last month's installment here, and happy pride month :)))
Supernova + Armageddon - aespa
Tumblr media
Instant classic. 'Drama' in all its electric cyber-crush glory is a tough act to follow, but 'Supernova' holds it's ground from the first second and starts being fucking iconic in the next five.
Dem Jointz is all over this track, I love how he gets to go a little wild with the complexity of his production when working with groups like aespa and NCT. The beat bounces and booms, taking the listener on an intergalactic roller coaster ride of dance-pop rhythm, with the aespa girls as our celestial guides. 'Supernova' is a masterclass in vocal mixing and ad libs, Ningning's vocals sound especially addictive on this track, low and oozing confidence. It's an instant hit, and one of aespa's best.
While 'Supernova' feels very much in aespa's usual territory, 'Armageddon' takes a few more risks - it's slightly less dancepop, a little more edgy; less first-listen club banger and more third listen unexpected groove. Don't get me wrong, it definitely maintains the hallmarks of an aespa title track: full of unplaceable futuristic synths, tin-can trap beats, and a deep sliding baseline, but something about that half time chorus and the switch up to focus on the members lower registers more feels so confident. 'Armageddon' depicts an aespa utterly assured in their abilities as idols, musicians, entertainers, and performers, and regardless of it you liked the song or not, I think it is clear to anyone from this title track that aespa have far from reached their peak, and they still have much more to do in this industry.
Frustratingly, the album did not live up to the quality of the titles that represent it. There are a few stand out hits, like 'Bahama', which pulls off y3k h2o just add water mermaidcore effortlessly, as well as 'Set The Tone' a classic aespa style track evocative of the 'Drama' and 'Savage' EPs in sound, and 'Licorice' which apparently is controversial to enjoy, but I can't help but love its bounce and rhythm; but much of the rest of the tracklist fell short. I couldn't help but notice a lack of coherence both in the sound and concept of this era. The album feels like a hodgepodge of tracks rather than a deliberate project - there aren't any through lines between tracks other than aespa's flagship futuristic production style (which isn't actually present on every track but whatever), and each song seems to be appealing to different scenarios of streaming music - BAHAMA is for a summer beach date, but Supernova is for the club, but then Live My Life is for a disney channel original movie starring Demi Lovato?? The overall vibe seems to be disjointed.
This is a problem I have with a lot of aespa's releases since the 'Savage' EP - on the EP or mini album or album or whatever around 65-90% of the tracks are certified bangers, life changing hits, and then there are a few dull fillers to pad the runtime. I know there is a pressure for groups to release something twice a year or so, but I think aespa is at a point in their career where they can certainly afford to release an album once a year if it's for the sake of quality music.
Great titles, poor b-sides - aespa deserves more than a top-heavy album, SM take more than six months next time you want to make an album for them I beg.
How Sweet - NewJeans
Tumblr media
It's been a rough couple of months over at HYBE, and considering how sick we are of it as fans and listeners, I can't even imagine how exhausted the members are of the whole ordeal. Being at the centre of one of k-pop's biggest company dramas in history in the middle of your comeback season isn't for the weak, but NewJeans make it look easy. They are back, stronger than ever, with yet another instant classic.
'How Sweet' is the complementary reversal of 'Bubblegum', capitalizing on the members gorgeous lower registers and pairing them with a 90s hip-hop vibe, featuring their signature NewJeans production flairs as always. I've seen a little bit of criticism that this song feels too much like 'ETA', (which I think is a bizarre comparison, it much more sounds like a lovechild of 'OMG' and 'Ditto') but I don't think that groups releasing music in their established sound is a bad thing at all. NewJeans aren't rookies anymore, they have more than proved themselves to be a force to be reckoned with both on the charts and on the stage, and with the korean general public and bunnies themselves consistently loving the NewJeans sonic identity it makes no sense for them to abandon it entirely. They've grown a lot since 'Attention' and 'Hype Boy', and their performance of this song shows that clearly.
The girls' vocals on this song are to die for, every line they deliver exudes confidence and assurance in their capabilities. Danielle and Hanni's little chant of 'Toxic loverrrrr you're no betterrrrr, 거기 숨지 말고 얼른 나와, you little demon in my storyline, don't knock on my door, I'll see you out' is adorable and SO catchy, Danielle's delivery in that outro with her Aussie accent being a highlight of the song as a whole.
Yet another banger from (in my opinion) the most exciting kpop group out right now - it is becoming clearer and clearer to me that the day NewJeans release a bad song is the day pigs fly.
Girls Never Die - tripleS (<ASSEMBLE24>)
Tumblr media
The final lineup for tripleS is here, and with it, one of the groups best songs to date. Juggling 24 members in one song is feat few have successfully managed, but tripleS expertly uses the plethora of voices they have at their disposal to deliver a title track as hypnotic as it is anthemic.
'Girls Never Die' has all the hallmarks of a tripleS song we've grown to adore, from y3k style production to the classic 'lalala' hook in the chorus - sonically it both calls back to the groups humble beginnings with Acid Angel From Asia's 'Generation', and looks to the future of the group with its united 24 members. The verses tend to lose me a little, but although they are dull, they are thankfully short, and the chorus is a stunner. The finale of the track is a triumph, the final refrain of 'girls never die 절대 never cry' closing the song giving the effect of a battle cry - to me 'Girls Never Die' says tripleS are here to shake things up in the industry, and release fun music while doing it.
I've enjoyed many a tripleS project before this, with the +(KR)ystal Eyes EP and the 2023 ASSEMBLE album being real highlights. '<ASSEMBLE24>' is immediately one of ( if not their best) albums, b-sides such as 'Beyond the Beyond', 'White Soul Sneakers', and ESPECIALLY 'Chiyu' bringing the heat fully.
tripleS are one to watch, and while I have genuinely no clue what 'decentralized kpop idol group' means or what the fuck an objekt is, trust when I say I will be watching.
Accendio - IVE (IVE SWITCH)
Tumblr media
After the exciting return of an IVE that is worthy of their hitmaker epithet with 'HEYA', I was intrigued to see what 'Accendio' would bring to the table other than a matching cherry-red wig moment for the members (which was iconic btw.)
'Accendio' borrows some ideas from garage, but generally just feels very kpop - it's functionally the epicentre of the sounds of the industry right now; a little bit tripleS, a little bit (G)-IDLE, but 100% IVE. It has an ethereal quality, but in the sense of a fallen angel, with the lyrics bringing a sense of Catholic guilt (not sure why this is becoming a trend right now but sure!). The chorus is half high-fashion girlpop with their chant of 'watch me, don't touch me; love me, don't hurt me', and half rhythmic acid trip with the onomatopoeia and the refrain of '주문 걸어, accendio'; it's a highly successful marriage of opposites. To me it recalls the sound of their Japanese single 'WAVE' which I personally loved, and while 'HEYA' is technically a more advanced kpop song production-wise, 'Accendio' just has a pace and rhythm to it that 'HEYA' lacks, making it feel more exciting and engaging.
It's actually kind of crazy how good the rest of the album is, like IVE's b-sides have never been criminally bad, but this is wild. Potentially a niche reference for you 4th gen stans, but 'Blue Heart' and 'Ice Queen' are to 'Accendio' what 'Clue' and 'Note' are to SHINee's 'Sherlock'. 'Blue Heart' expands on that vogueish, runway style sound from the first part of the 'Accendio' chorus, and 'Ice Queen' explores that gossamer flowy sound from the refrain. I doubt this was intentional, but I love any sense of sonic consistency in kpop albums (@rinas4ki this kind of what we were talking about) and all three tracks are very successful.
'WOW' is a little bit of a wildcard, an acoustic style girly type of track that sounds like the kind of thing SM used to force aespa to sing, but it works very well for IVE. That post chorus of 'wowowow' is very cute. 'RESET' also has a little bit of a garage sound, and reminds me a lot of Yves debut (which will be discussed below), and while it is pretty catchy, it isn't especially memorable, especially in the context of IVE's discography and the quality of the other tracks on this mini album, but it is still worth a listen for sure.
Overall I am very impressed with IVE this time around, 'HEYA' is very enjoyable, 'Accendio' is even more enjoyable, and the b-sides don't put a spanner in the works at all, in fact they in many ways boost the overall quality of the comeback, a feat frustratingly rare in the kpop scene. If you missed the 'IVE SWITCH' album this month, I would definitely recommend giving it a listen.
LOOP - YVES (LOOP)
Tumblr media
It feels good knowing all 12 members of LOONA have redebuted after leaving BBC, and what a way to end it. Yves has always been one of my biases in LOONA, and this solo debut proves exactly why she's so special.
'LOOP' is a uk garage style kpop classic, and while Lil Cherry's rap occasionally wanders into questionable territory, Yves' vocals melded with the gorgeous Pink Pantheress style production (no she didn't actually produce it, but a girl can dream, right?) make the track the hit it is. I've seen the use of 8-bit sounding vocal processing being criticised online, but I personally love the computerized sound it brings - with Yves lilting 'ooh's and refrain of 'yeah I'm lost but I like it' 'LOOP' creates an atmosphere of a virtual euphoria.
'LOOP' is great and all, but for me the real star of the album is the beautiful, the stunning, the AWE INSPIRING, 'DIORAMA'. It's so effortless in it's production and that chorus is so subtle yet addictive, it's seriously good. 'DIORAMA' has been on repeat since it's release, I can definitely see this one finding a spot high on my top kpop tracks of 2024 list.
The mini album as a whole is amazing, Yves is such an exciting soloist, she clearly has a lot she wants to achieve, and 'LOOP' is evidence of that.
Virtual Angel - ARTMS (Dall)
Tumblr media
WARNING - PLEASE READ: If you wish to support ARTMS after reading this review, please be warned that the music video for 'Virtual Angel' contains repeated flashing scenes, and has been reported to trigger seizures, epilepsy and headaches in a small minority of viewers - even the 'Human Eye Ver.' has some flashing elements. Please stay safe!
I think i speak for all orbits when I say we had big expectations for 'Dall'. Both of the Loossemble albums so far have been excellent, Chuu and Yves have been bringing it in their solo projects, and everything we've heard out of Modhaus concerning Loona has been incredible - for ARTMS to stumble with this album would be immensely frustrating. Fortunately, they did not stumble at all, they smashed through the finish line of the Loona redebuts, and elevated the groups post-BBC discography to another level of excellence.
'Dall' is an album that is difficult to put into words. It has the essence of Loona beyond just having Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry and Haseul involved, it is genuinely quite moving how it echoes that 'Hi High' sound from so long ago. I say this as a joke a lot, but 'Dall' is genuinely an album that feels like an ascension to another plane of existence - it is euphoric and ethereal, especially in the context of the fight the members and orbits have put up since 2022.
I consider 'Girl Front' the gold standard for Loona songs, and 'Virtual Angel' genuinely comes close to snatching that crown. The whole album is so fucking good, and while I would usually go through the charade of describing every track and its genre influences and whether the hook is catchy or not, I refuse for this album - I will not steal the experience from you of hearing this album for the first time.
So yeah, this is probably a mildly shit review, but PLEASE go stream this album, if there was any post BBC Loona album you were going to listen to, let it be this one (but also the Odd Eye Circle album lmao). 'Virtual Angel' is a triumph, 'Dall' is a triumph, 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy', 'Sparkle' and 'Unf/Air' ESPECIALLY are triumphs.
In conclusion... stan loona.
MINI REVIEWS:
Taxi Blurr - Jay Park (feat. Natty of KISS OF LIFE): i may not like Jay Park, but Natty is and always will be my girl, so here we are. I really love the 90s r&b style of this track, and Natty especially sounds amazing on it - her vocal colour is so beautiful. The two's voices blend really well in my opinion, the harmonies in the bridge are satisfying as hell.
Mona Lisa - Soojin (formerly (G)-IDLE)): questionable album titles aside, Soojin is back with her second comeback post leaving (G)-IDLE. This song is frustrating because it's not really offensively bad in any sense, but it is also not really especially good in any sense either. The budget for the MV is kind of crazy, but I wish they had put some of that into the making of the actual song.
No Biggie + Algorhythm - ITZY: (requested by @a-moth-to-the-light) If you've been on my blog before, you will know that JYP's direction of ITZY's korean releases has been irking me for a while, but somehow when ITZY gets on that plane and lands in Japan I am always obsessed. I'm into pretty much all of their Japanese releases, like Ringo went triple platinum in my mental chart. 'No Biggie' is really cool actually, super catchy and Yuna sounds amazing on it - it feels very laid back and relevant to the 2024 music space, something that ITZY's korean singles seem to struggle with. 'Algorhythm' is also SO GOOD, in production, style, and vocal performance. The music video and song also have major old red velvet vibes, which I love. ITZY - please stay in Japan a little longer, the discography over there is so solid. I miss Lia so much though, I hope she's doing well.
LOST! - RM (BTS): I really appreciate namjoon's artistry, and I actually enjoyed his 2022 album 'Indigo', quite a bit, but this song just doesn't work for me. I have heard from others that the album is something special tho, so if i have a spare half hour I might give it a listen.
나의 이름은 (ROTY) - YOUNG POSSE: I would like to redact my previous statements on young posse, I get it now, and this song is so fun. Very 2000s, very y2k, beautiful production, great raps from everyone, what more could you want.
Supernatural - A.C.E: Saw a GIF from the music video on my dash and decided to check it out, and I was severely impressed. 'Supernatural' is not an ear-splitting noisy headache of a track I have come to expect from kpop boy groups, it's a light hearted, classic Bruno Mars style pop hit. Good music and a well produced fun concept? I need to check out this group more.

“Life with Derek” is Back Again!
Tumblr media
Life with Luca is a hour and a half spin-off movie based on the 2000’s Canadian Sitcom Life with Derek, set eighteen years after its predecessor. The story follows two step-siblings, Casey McDonald (Ashley Leggat), now a court lawyer and mother of three. And Derek Venturi (Michael Seater), now a successful musician in Paris and a single dad. As history repeats itself, they both have rebellious fourteen year old teenagers, pushing their buttons. So in order to get a break, they both have the idea of dropping them off with their grandparents for their anniversary, and to their surprise, they end up meeting each other instead. With help, they figure out how to co-parent their kids together for a weekend, and hijinks naturally ensue.
Tumblr media
The original show Life with Derek was all about a blended family. In which two teenage step-siblings, Casey and Derek (the eldest children in the household and equally self absorbed), clash; fighting each other to take control of the house, their younger siblings, their school and their world.
The episodes consisted of simple, domestic family antics, containing smart jokes that would make adults and children alike laugh. The storylines were mature enough for teenagers to be interested but not so mature that it would put children off from watching.
Life with Derek was a show that prided itself in being character driven and more realistic than some of the family shows that was airing around that time, especially on networks such as Disney Channel.
However, it became well known and successful to this day for the slow burning subtextual “love affair” between the two step-siblings, Casey and Derek which undoubtedly acted as the backbone of the series. And the reason why it got picked up for a reboot fifteen years after the final episode aired.
Tumblr media
When I first read the premise of Life with Luca (when the announcement came out that they were going to make a Life with Derek reboot in 2020), I was immediately judgemental as often reboots can erase character growth. It just seemed like another manufactured money making remake (a copy for the next generation) rather than an actual continuation of the original show.
And while the movie does have alot of tropes repeated from the original i.e. Casey and Derek’s kids Skyler and Luca clash from the beginning, two families not really knowing each other previously merging for the first time etc. The writers had the ability to make these tropes most importantly character driven and natural so the audience didn’t notice the similarities so much. And when they did, it’s treated as a familiar nod rather than a direct copy.
Luca and Skyler
Tumblr media
Part of the fun of the original was the ongoing romantic tension between Casey and Derek, and I was worried we were going to have a repeat of that with their kids, Luca and Skyler but thankfully the casting and writing department was alot more thorough. And while they do clash at the beginning, its presented more of a culture clash because of how they were raised, and it evolved into a familial relationship quite quickly. I loved watching their bonding moments.
They managed to keep the core message from the original ‘of family and building a family even when you hate your situation at the beginning’. I felt they did a good job of mirroring that message with Luca and Skyler.
Out of the two, I felt like Skyler was the more fleshed out. The casting for her was amazing, she looks just like Derek’s daughter. I loved how, even though she was clearly meant to be the ‘Casey character’ — organised and dramatic — she still had her own vibe. She had the carefree attitude and style from Derek’s parenting, but still was able to be responsible as she essentially raised herself.
Luca, (the ‘Derek’ character) the more rebellious counterpart, is suggested to be acting out due to his chaotic home life, rather than that’s just “how he is” unlike Derek who was labelled as the bad guy from the start. He’s still very much Casey’s son as he doesn’t have some of the toxic masculinity that Derek possessed in the original show. And he has a few neurotic tendencies from her style of parenting as well. But I almost feel we didn’t get enough of him.
If and when Life with Luca does get picked up as a TV Series later on, it would be nice to flesh out his character alot more (and hers), because there was clearly alot of conflict that the two of them both had, his dad working overseas and her mum having a bran new family, that can’t really be fleshed out thoroughly in a hour and a half film.
George and Nora
Tumblr media
George and Nora’s plot was by far the most ridiculous (hint, jewel thief car chase), but I loved seeing them on screen again. It was nice to see how their relationship was still going strong after all this time. Along with their cameo, there were some other great ones such as Sam and Mr Lassiter. It was a shame we didn’t get to see the rest of the blended family such as Edwin and Lizzie and Marti, even for a second at the anniversary party at the end. But I understand the screenwriters wanted to save that for a TV Series later on, so they could be fully explored more.
Simon
Tumblr media
Simon, the youngest of the McDonald-Venturi’s (that was a storyline for the last two episodes of the original) was by far my favourite addition to the film. This was surprising, since that storyline in Life with Derek wasn’t exactly my favourite around the time of watching because I don’t necessarily agree that the step-family gaining a shared child made them “a proper family”. Thankfully, Life with Luca proved me wrong as he was so lovable. I loved how he was a perfect mix of both of the McDonalds and the Venturi’s, but mostly the Venturi’s as he was so clumsy.
Casey and Derek
Tumblr media
As always, the strongest parts of the movie, were when they were focusing on Casey and Derek, individually and together. I loved how they went with careers that naturally meshed with their personalities. Casey being a married lawyer in Toronto and Derek being a travelling musician in Paris with his daughter as a best friend. Watching Derek be a parent was amazing, especially since he was shown to be really good with kids in the original.
When the two finally meet up again, the audience can see that their friendship has definitely progressed; they have finally learnt to respect one another even though they haven’t spoken one on one for a long time. But they still maintained their comedic banter. It was refreshing to see that character growth. It was nice that it hadn’t backtracked in typical reboot fashion for the sake of drama/entertainment since that relationship was the core of why the original worked.
Tumblr media
Now in the original show, Life with Derek, it was never confirmed that Casey and Derek had romantic feelings for each other, but there was alot of speculation by the fans, because of all the subtext going on throughout the series.
The actors, Michael Seater and Ashley Leggat, put a rest to some of the speculation in 2016 and confirmed in a article by MTV that because ‘the fans were so into Casey and Derek being a couple, [they] would find subtext in their lines to give the fans what they desire’
Life with Derek was primarily about the first four years that they [Casey and Derek] lived together. Their relationship mostly consisted of an antagonistic push and pull/tug of war even though at the end of the day, they were always there for each other when it really counted. Even though Casey and Derek claimed to dislike each other, it was very clear that the two had developed a deep bond over the course of the series.
However, Casey and Derek’s relationship in Life with Luca is interesting in a way that they’re no longer in a “sibling dynamic” in which they were previously forced into. Mostly because they’re no longer teenagers and the fact that they’ve barely interacted or lived together in eighteen years since life both took them in very different directions. Which creates a paradox in itself.
It’s this incredibly grey area throughout the movie where they’re adjusting to each other again, slipping into their old bickering, confiding in each other about parenthood, all while transitioning into a mum and dad dynamic while they’re co-parenting the children they had with other people.
Tumblr media
Before the movie came out, I was positive, because of the criticisms and hype surrounding the show and the pairing, that the writers were going to diminish the potential of a romance between the characters in fear of backlash. For example, have Casey in a happy marriage, Derek dating around and eventually gain a love interest at the end of the film. Also, trying to make their relationship as “Sibling- Esque” as possible.
Even though I knew from the premise of the reboot, that they were going to move in together, and there would be a few romantic undertones scattered in for the fans, I’d thought they’d play it off more as an “aunt and uncle babysitting the kids”.
But the opposite ended up happening. Casey has an absent husband who continuously leaves her and her kids alone while he plays hockey over seas — breaking his promises that he was going to retire before their kids were teenagers. Derek supposedly hasn’t dated anyone in fourteen years nor mentions flirting with other women. He even has a distant relationship with his daughters mum.
Tumblr media
The moment Derek comes, he almost takes ‘the role of her husband’ as he sees Casey isn’t doing so well. He does the cooking for their kids — Casey even mentions that her husband does all the cooking while Derek is preparing dinner — babysits her little ones, attempts to calm Casey down when she’s getting too stressed, helps arrange an anniversary party for their parents so she’s able to get on with her work. And even though, they are referred as “Aunt” and “Uncle” in the movie, it’s also made apparent that they’re essentially “Mum and Dad” to their children as well.
One of Casey’s little ones, Molly even makes a “catch it or you’ll miss it” comment to Derek’s kid in one scene “I wish we were cousins AND sisters.”
Their last scene together at the end of the movie, Casey comes up to Derek saying ‘You’re gonna come home again soon, before the kids go to university?’ in which Derek heavily implies that he wants to move into her guest house to potentially raise their kids together, making a direct parallel to her husband not retiring from hockey and coming home from Europe, even after their kids grew up.
That moment is possibly why I came out from watching the movie thinking ‘If Casey and Derek don’t get together after this; then it’s bad writing’ because their scenes in the reboot didn’t feel like random “fanservice moments” like in the original; it felt like a genuine setup for a romance. Even if it can’t be written explicitly, due to the network, it is the most logical ending for their characters and the movie just made that ending seem even more inevitable.
Tumblr media
Despite my enjoyment of Life with Luca, and overall it being a Great Comeback of a 2000’s Classic — it’s not a movie that can really work on its own. Finishing it left me feeling unsatisfied and wanting more. It felt very much like an introduction than a complete product. Its very apparent they made this movie so it could be picked up as a TV series later on, since there is alot of plot threads that are unexplored, unfinished or left open.
Life with Luca is not a reunion movie. It’s only page one.

I don’t know how y’all are feeling, but I’m so grossed out by streamers right now
So I’m going to give you some smaller youtube creators to watch who are so fun, and not owned by a studio that is refusing to pay their workers.
Watcher Media - Do you like ghost hunting, puppets, and food? These three former Buzzfeed employees started their own video company and they are a true delight. Shane, Stephen and the Bergooz talk about ghosts, history, food, and murder. Worth a watch!
Tasting History - Max Miller, former Disney employee, started a food history podcast that teaches you about what people ate in ye olde times, and why. You can tell how passionate he is about his subject matter. A very chill time.
Mythical Kitchen - Do you like gremlins and food and gremlins who make food? That’s basically Mythical Kitchen. It is Good Mythical Morning’s bizarre, anxious kid sibling who may have sniffed bath salts last night, but has the best of intentions. If Nicole didn’t constantly remind him that it would kill him, I’m pretty sure Josh would eat wood glue.
Disney Dan - If you’re a Disney human, Disney Dan is a great way to scratch that itch. He does deep dives into park costumes and touring show costumes, including some deeply terrifying showings from the dawn of Disneyland. He’s so much fun. He has a great laugh, and you can tell he’s having such a good time.
Defunctland - Short form documentaries about all sorts of both well-known, and very little known subjects in pop culture. He does such compelling work. I cannot recommend this channel enough.
Ask a Mortician - Do you think about dying, and the ethics of the death industry? Get onboard with the Order of the Good Death. There is something really interesting and refreshing about death positivity, or, being well informed about the industry that your family will invariably have to deal with once you die. Being unafraid to tackle the idea that we all gotta go sometime, and we can make good choices about what happens to our bodies when that happens.
Be Kind, Rewind - A super solid Hollywood history channel, tackling a lot of topics pertaining to women in the industry.
Fundie Fridays - I knew nothing about fundamentalist religion before I started watching this channel. Jenn and James are so informative, and they do their best to show empathy to those who truly need it amongst subjects that are truly horrifying sometimes. TW for information about sexual abuse and other disturbing subjects, but so informative and so important to know.
Food Wishes - Join Chef John as he cooks up delicious dishes. So chill. Such good vibes.
Demystifying Chinese Cooking - Traditional Chinese food is an entire world all it’s own, and you should know about it!
Girl with the Dogs - Canadian Animal Groomer who tells you all about the breeds she grooms, and also how to handle difficult animals with compassion and safety. She also uses a lot of her funds from youtube to give free grooms to animals in need, and promote animal adoption.
Shipwrecked - They describe themselves as stupidly smart comedy, and that’s very true. They’re an indie film company, creating historical fiction that is really lovely and funny.
Kittenlady - Hannah and Andrew run Orphan Kitten Club, a non-profit dedicated to caring for abandoned neonatal kittens. They’ve been doing a lot of traveling to learn about kitten and cat care around the world, and shine a spotlight on shelters and colony caretakers internationally.
I could literally go on forever. But these are the ones that are super standout for me at least right now!

Hello everyone! Here I am, one more day, and I want to share something with you. After seeing a super cozy picture last Thursday, I made a commitment to truly enjoy every moment of my weekend. Whether I was sleeping, reading, or just relaxing, I wanted to feel like I really rested without that nagging feeling of procrastination.
Saturday was a vibe ✨ — I watched Only Murders in the Building because, duh, I’m a Disney Channel girly and had to see Selena Gomez again 😎. I also cleaned my room and my desk, which felt super refreshing. On Sunday (today), I painted, had a little self-care session, and video-called my bestie from Barcelona 💖.
Resting is super important—having a few moments for yourself is essential for both your soul and mind. It’s like hitting the reset button so you can tackle the next week and your studies with more enthusiasm and energy. ✨
Remember to stay hydrated, friends! 💧

(Regular warning bc MATE THIS IS LONG AS FUCK)
(Oh also swear warning)
That gif of Magnifico in the beginning looks way too adorable to be a psychopath

HE STANDS UP AND SINGS AND PROVES HE’S WILLING TO GO AGAINST MAGGIE
THE YOUNG GENERATION IS SINGING IT, BREAKING THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE
Although Asha has her Sabino… maybe ghosts/ spirits of her loved ones? I always imagined the scene “A Wish Worth Keeping” would have her family’s spirits (in blue) smiling and cheering her on… sparkly ofc
YES this scene in the movie was my favorite bc it FELT DRAMATIC
I said before “Knowing What I Know Now” was my fav but Anny I changed my mind “Wish (Reprise)” is my favorite
YES TAKE BACK YOUR KINGDOM FROM THE STRAIGHT WHITE FOLK (Amaya is Greek… what is Magnus? I’m assuming white too)
SWORD YES make it Prince Phillip’s
Gotta admit that falling wish scene in the movie was gorgeous, reminded me of Wall-E

*stares at it for hours bc she looks gorgeous*
Referenced as a wand now!
Smiling as she falls bc she knows HER BAE WILL CATCH HER
HOW are they not dead. The gays only have the power of plot armor
So it was nighttime okay
AW HE CARES FOR HER
Yep definitely giving Belos
NOW I WANT TO SEE A KOWxTOH CROSSOVER
Told you idiots you shouldn’t have spared her. Pride really does come before the fall
Seriously Gothel wasn’t a pussy she stabbed Flynn why didn’t you stab Asha (sorry bby just wondering how they’re so stupid)
THAT’S what you’re worried about man
HE WANTS TO KEEP AMAYA SAFE IN HIS ARMS AND PROTECT HER AT ALL COSTS
Lol I’m just imagining a giant whoosh of power and light and Amagnus squeezes their eyes shut waiting for a painful death and then they just. Sneeze. Itchy magic glitter poof
Is this a reference to a past Disney movie? They’re really going the PJO route huh
DAM ANNY THAT’S HARSH
Uh. Wow. Okay Aster I guess they did kill you
Yay we have the citizens standing up!
Wait you make your wish at 18 was this women pregnant really early orrrr
Later? Oh goodness I’m worried for the next chapter
Uh Starsha is being a bit sadistic and Amaya is sobbing for her love…
MAGGIE TURN AND COMFORT YOUR WIFE
Oh btw is Magnus part Spanish? “Mi vida” since Amaya is Greek…
NO NO DANCE PARTY I DON’T TRUST YOU YET
Someone get Gabo some therapy mate
NO WHAT
ASTER WHAT
NO THE STARS WILL COME DOWN AND LEGO BATMAN HIS ASS
VIOLIN-STAR TELL THEM THAT THEY FOUND LOVE AND THEREFORE THEY WILL STAY
WHY DID HE SAY IT SO SOFT AND MATURE WHERE IS MY GOLDEN RETRIEVER BOY
DID HE HEAR ASHA TELL THEM SHE LOVED THEM? DOES SHE HAVE TO DO IT TO MAKE HIM STAY?
”Love is all they needed” Amaya you’re clever but this was all sort of your fault witch
FUCK YOU MAGNUS COMFORT YOUR WIFE OFH WAIT TOO LATE
Tbh I would’ve agreed with Gabo had they injured Val in some way
YEAH THEY DESERVE IT BUT THEY GOT THE PERCY JACKSON HEPHAESTUS CHAIR TREATMENT
Discord DID turn to stone too… how about they turn to stone and THEN get pushed off a cliff
OKAY that was long but it was good
Uh I’m scared for the next chapter? We get Amable’s backstory so do they escape? Will Asha become the FG? Will Aster get LEGO Batman-d by the school marching band of Stars? Is their magic the North Star magic? SO MANY QUESTIONS
Overall though great job Anny! This has been an amazing journey and I can’t wait for the final chapter!

Have you listened to NMIXX's latest comeback?
Today is a good day, both Nmixx and Fromis_9 made their comeback, I freaking love their b-side very much.
NMIXX- See that: the song was very catchy like their "Dash" MV. "nananana BYUL BYUL BYUL" this is only my 2nd hearing, it's already stuck in my head.
"Red light...." Something I forgot the title of the b-side, it's a freaking scam for the duration less than 3 minutes😫.
Fromis b-side, on the first hearing, I already can tell it's very fromis_9 sound, I freaking love it.
Going to replay both albums till I'm saturated with it 😂.
Tumblr media
Have a Kyujin and Jiwoo combo, some maybe confuse taking the right one (Jiwoo) as the maknae🤣. I put their clip under the same name Kyujiwoo, they literally are two peas in a pod. I like Kyujin very much because she gets recognition other than her being the maknae.
Hello mikeylo! My ass is procrastinating, so I'll be doing a review on Nmixx and fromis_9's comebacks instead of working on my draft :>
Tumblr media
NMIXX - Fe3O4: STICK OUT
See That? - 8/10. I like the old school hip hop influence, this is probably my favorite title track they have so far :] It still has that Mixxpop flavor without being too experimental for the general public to dislike it immediately imo.
SICKUHH - 7/10. So I'm a HUGE khiphop fan and seeing the Kid Milli feature at first got me geeked tf out. I think the song is just okay tho, the difference between kpop rappers and actual rappers in terms of "energy" is very evident in this song, but I do like it.
Red light sign, but we go - 11/10. THIS SONG IS SO FUUCKING GOOD, that buildup in the prechorus is god tier, the gritty instrumentals with their light and airy vocals is so AUGHHH I love nmixx.
BEAT BEAT - 8/10. Solid song. I love songs that make me feel like running. Don't really have any other notes other than I like it :]
Moving On - 6/10. Probably my least favorite song on the album, but not bcs it's a bad song, just not my favorite genre of music. Makes me feel nostalgic, I feel like it could on be the soundtrack to an early 2010s Disney Channel movie :> Reminds me of Hannah Montana a lil bit :>
Love is Lonely - 8/10. It's a generic sounding pop song, but I'm kinda a slut for generic sounding pop songs that make me wanna do the "white girl at a club" dance. Reminds me of mid 2010s Taylor Swift or Ariana Grande :> A pretty great way to end the album imo.
Overall Rating - 8/10. I liked this album a lot :D I know Nmixx is pretty divisive, but they really do make a lot of bangers if you can get over how questionable their earlier title tracks are. It's also a crime that most of these songs are less than 3 minutes >:[
fromis_9 - Supersonic
Supersonic: 1893659831589158/10. SONG OF THE MF SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!! BANGER!!!!! THEY INJECTED CUNT INTO THIS SONG!!!!!!! RAHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Beat the Heat: 8/10. They were serving city pop summer realness in the entire song, but then the chorus........ Would've been a perfect 10 if they just... didn't do that.
Take a Chance - 8/10. Very similar vibes to Love is Lonely. I would bump tf out of this on a late night driving playlist.
Overall Rating - 8/10. We asked for three minute songs, and Hybe heard "three songs" :[ Supersonic carries, and I think this comeback will be the one that pushes me into finally getting into fromis_9 :] (pls don't disband pls)

Following the slutty rockstar Bucky vibe - what if he’s a former teenybopper Disney Channel starlet who rocks up to the VMAs in a harness and leather pants and proceeds to practically fuck a concert hall of people for three and a half minutes. The lewdest moment comes when he drops to his knees on the edge of the stage and sinks his fingers into blond hair, pulling the man’s head back and humping the air in front of his face.
And when an intrepid fan inspects the footage and realizes that the built blond man in the crowd is in fact once-scrawny Steve Rogers, another former child star who played Bucky’s rapscallion best friend on their long running Disney Channel show…
The Twitter post from @officialbuckybarnes - the audio, scandalized Fox News pundits spouting homophobic vitriol; the video, panning down a bare back to a deliciously dimpled ass just covered by a sheet and a possessively squeezing hand, distinctive metallic tattoo climbing the wrist - gets over a million likes in the five minutes before the record label yanks it down.

Me reading this:
Tumblr media
Holy. Shit. Yes. Yeah.
I fucking love this idea. This fucks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I adore, adore the idea of grown up, slutty rockstar Bucky enjoying his freedom of not having everything about his image controlled and purified and you added 🤌🏻impeccable🤌🏻 fucking spice onto it.
Jesus.
Stevie being caught in the middle of Bucky's slutty, slutty, sex, rock, and roll energy is perfect! I'm imagining that Steve found he didn't enjoy the spotlight and attention that much--
*insert that gif of canon Steve during WWII, looking at the map on the Jeep hood and looking so uncomfortable being filmed*
--and so he stepped away from fame until he meets Bucky again. And, fuck, he's changed. They both have. Steve's grown. He's huge. Steve is a person trainer now and he fucking looks it. He's pretty still. Too pretty for people not to see him. Bucky's gonna make sure people see him, and Bucky's gonna make sure they know they can't have him 😮‍💨
Thank you for this wonderful concept!

since i've been gone:
watched atla live action. hate the tell don't show writing style. got mad every time i saw ian ousley on screen. suki and jet ate that up tho i'm literally SO pan. zuko's flashbacks made me cry. him leading the division that he saved in finding the avatar is a nice touch. love how secret tunnel and two lovers/omashu is gay now
am starting a jade fire gold by june cl tan reread because holy fuck i'm in zutara feels rn
read if you could see the sun by ann liang. made me cry shake throw up. obsessed with her writing and need her book to hurry up and appear in aus
read the first shatter me book since i enjoyed the first 6 chapters on google. BIG mistake. how did simultaneously nothing happen in that book while everything happen at the same time?? why do people hate adam and love warner??? why is every man on the planet obsessed with juliette??? however the last two chapters gave xmen vibes so unfortunately i will be reading the rest of the series at some point in time
i became OBSESSED with the maleficent movies for an entire fortnight. so much so i thrifted a grunge fairycore skirt with NOTHING to style it with. can't wait for maleficent 3!!!!
follow up to maleficent, i ended up rewatching all of descendants. all i'm gonna say is mal did nothing wrong. ben is insanely mid. i think that evie's backstory is a lot darker than let on by the disney channel rating but i'll make a separate post about my headcanons for her. saw the teaser for the 4th movie. rip to cameron
i watched the marvels FINALLY. i ADORED kamala as always even with all the shitty writing changes to her backstory, iman slays as always. i screamed cried and threw up when i saw the og beast from xmen and professor x mention!!! seeing carol from the kree's perspective was also actually REALLY interesting. the family angst between monica and carol also made me emotional. seeing kamala become disillusioned with her hero was also very civil war 2 coded and i'd LOVE to see that fleshed out more. i'm interested to see whether kamala is trying to form the young avengers (which she was never a member of and predates her by 10 years), champions or secret warriors (both of which kate was never a member of if i remember correctly)
because of xmen crumbs i unfortunately rewatched about half of the gifted s1 for those feels
i now know 4 programming languages and am living out my own little cress darnel life
watched a few episodes of love between fairy and demon, thought i didn't like cdramas, gave an episode of who rules the world and actually?? i might be into it. i'll see in a few episodes time (IF i have time)

Thank you so much J for being so amazing and giving of your time!! I am already on pins and needles waiting for all your wonderful moodboards coming our way!
I’ll let you choose because both have got me 😵‍💫 for different reasons!
Alfred Pennyworth and The Nightmare Before Christmas!
Ulysses Klaue and The Disney Channel original movie Halloweentown!
I love the gothic noir of Nightmare and the campy silliness of Halloweentown and honestly it pains me to choose between the two!
Again thank you so much for taking the time to make your gorgeous mood boards!!
ahh hi my sweet friend! I am so happy you sent something in! 💕 you are too kind, I am so happy that you’re looking forward to seeing them!
I love both of these movies and both of these men, it was impossible to pick! I was so hooked on Nightmare when I was in High School, the noir is vibe really is so cool. I ended up picking Alfred & Nightmare (but then did a little Klaue one for you, too!) 🦇💖 thank you so much for trick or treating with me!
Hope you like them! & that you had a Happy Halloween! 🎃💖

Hello sorry to bother you with this all of sudden ,and this might be coming out of nowhere, but I m trying to get more people into this show with great potential. Have you heard of or watched moon girl and devil dinosaur? Season 2 comes out February 2. The main character i love she gives me autistic vibes I’m autistic. The show has interesting characters, action ,great music, and animation ,good themes and representation, Anime references, it even has an eyecatch season 2 is going to be more story driven if you find that interesting. It be good if you watch season 2 episode when they air so the ratings will be higher. I’m scared Disney might be trying to sabotage the show with airing 2 episodes a week when it airs on Disney channel February. They did the same with season 1 and the ratings where low ,please watch season 2 episodes when they air on cable if you have it that is. Don’t just stream it that might not get Disney attention if you just stream it only . But let’s also watch it on Disney + and when they air it on YouTube. I’m not just saying only cable just also. I’m saying please support this show.  Despite that it still won 5 Emmys. Also if it’s no trouble could if it alright with you spread the word about this show to others you know like either online or irl.
Tumblr media
Hello! Sorry for not responding to this right away, but yes I have heard of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. I’ve actually read a few comics and bought a couple of crossover comics featuring the duo
In fact a couple mutuals of mine are already big fans of the show so I have heard good things
Unfortunately I feel a bit Marvel-d out lately when it comes to both movies and tv shows, but it’s a show I’ve been meaning to check out
It looks like a lot of fun and the people I know who like it seem to enjoy it as much as you
So I’ll be happy to help spread the word

Rating 500+ Theme Tunes - #15. Jessie
She's Radio Rebel Jessie! It's our first Disney sitcom! Here, Debby Ryan plays a sheltered small-town woman who finds herself nannying eccentric rich kids in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It's classic Disney sitcom material, chock full of wacky antics, bad green screen, and sassy laugh-track backed humour. I mean, that's most American sitcoms I find, but especially Disney ones!
Tumblr media
This show is definitely an interesting one in some ways. It's a fairly diverse family with the various adopted children and their cultures, which I would say sets it apart from many other shows of the time. Plus, Ryan going from a side character in one show to the main character of this one, which was much rarer for Disney Channel than say Nickelodeon. However, she was certainly prominent on the channel already, having also led the movie 16 Wishes. I wonder if the character of Jessie likes sushi?
Now, I certainly watched some Jessie in my time, but I can't say it was by choice. My sister liked this show so it was on with some frequency, but I have never been able to stand it. I was never the biggest Disney sitcom person by both circumstance and taste, but this one was especially not for me. I always liked Debby Ryan in Suite Life on Deck but I think, as a lead, the way she was written and her comedic acting style always got on my nerves. I found the character of Jessie irritating, in a similar to Tori Vega in Victorious, though I definitely watched more of the latter so I can't articulate it as well here. The show's vibe and humour just was never for me. But what about the theme? Was that for me?
Tumblr media
Jessie Theme Song
The answer is no! This theme song is bad! I really do not care for this one at all, and I just find it deeply annoying. The chorus of this song is what bugs me the most, as I cannot stand the whiney tone of the vocals and how the repeated "Hey Jessie" tunes are sang. They are simply trying too hard. It's also just so overly repetitive that this annoying sound is an issue that is perpetuated further. The verse is slightly better, but the autotuning is a bit much, and the end of it falls really flat. It's generally just a quite annoying sounding song.
I'm really sorry to all the Jessie-heads out there, but whilst there is the skeleton of a good song here, I just find it really grating to listen to. I'll stick with Josh Dun as my musical preference between the couple. This one is going comfortably in the D tier.
Tumblr media
Stay tuned for more and be sure to send in any suggestions for other shows you'd like to see done (after the 500 already in the pipeline that is). Check out the intro to this series here, and check out the tier list.

idk if I've said it here yet but I was one of those kids who was not allowed to watch cartoons or go online until I was significantly older. my mom literally blocked TV channels that showed cartoons. I was allowed to watch spongebob and gravity falls because my dad liked them but I got no adventure time, no gumball, no regular show, no power puff girls, no jimmy neutron, etc until I was much older and could watch them on my own.
I was allowed, however, to watch whatever disney movie I liked because my mom liked disney and considered it age-appropriate and decent enough. ofc I immediately found the most mature one possible and grew a massive embarrassing special interest over it that led to me begging and crying my parents to buy me paintings of the notre dame whenever we went to paris when we were visiting family. I still have them! was unironically obsessed with paris and the medieval ages/early renaissance because of that damn movie
SIMILARLY, since I wasn't allowed online I've never played club penguin or poptropica or anything, I was never on omegle or kik or wattpad. I do not have forum experiences.
I got internet ACCESS when I was 10 but it was heavily monitored so I couldn't talk to anyone or make any accounts, certain websites were blocked, my browser history was checked and so were my messages. etc etc. I basically just used it to pirate movies which I figured out how to do insanely early lmao.
so the first account I ever got to make on my own accord was when I was fourteen.
which was five years ago. five!
my first tumblr (the hercules one) I made when I was fifteen. THREE years ago! early 2020!
anyway all of this explains why I'm really bad at fandom stuff and don't really understand certain online etiquette. and also why I talk about kids movies a lot and not like breaking bad or whatever.
I am consumed by childhood abuse trauma if u didn't get that vibe already LOL and while I DO consume adult stuff (again big interest in religion/history so I really really like reading about history and culture and various mythology. I'm actually rereading dante's inferno rn :)) I am unfortunately tethered to kids movies forever. both dreamworks and disney (dreamworks makes better movies but alas I am cursed by the pull of thond and hercules)
my saving grace is that there's so little merch for my faves and I fucking HATE the parks, you literally have to drag me kicking and screaming to an amusement park, so I don't qualify for disney adult. amen.
