[to myself] you are allowed to use mobility aids. you are allowed to use sensory aids. you are allowed to use mobility aids. you are allowed to use aids to make your life easier. there is not a "level" of disabled you have to be be to use aids. you are allowed, you are allowed, you are allowed.
[to myself] you are not weak for using aids. it does not mean you are not trying. there is no pride in suffering. there is no shame in using help. you are allowed to make your life easier. you are allowed, you are allowed, you are allowed.

Today i attempted to fix my double clicking mouse by taking it apart and cleaning it, and that all went fine until i screwed one of the final screws in too tight so the mouse wouldn't click at all anymore, shredding the screw so it became unremovable, and essentially caused the mouse to be totally null and void forever with it's stupid unremovable screw.
Fortunately my brother had a spare mouse with NO doubleclicking issue; however, it's scrollwheel is near entirely busted. So i have essentially just traded one problem for another. I am having nothing but wins lately!!!!!

so mobility aids are fucking expensive and nobody takes insurance so while i've found braces that fit my (k)needs best they're 209 usd. Each.
the good news is that means i'll be opening commissions soon if you like my artstyle so 鉁岋笍馃憤馃憤

my new toxic trait is that whenever someone complains about any kind of fatigue or leg pain within earshot i immediately think "just get a cane"
im serious though
like, acquiring a cane is so easy compared to a lot of mobility aids, you can literally get them for ten bucks at CVS, i got mine for twenty off amazon because i wanted one that folds, and it has served me great
like, i think we a society would be much better off if we completely normalized mobility aids to the point that you can just,, buy one, for a temporary injury
and with canes specifically, again they're cheap! but also they're often adjustable, so if you only need it temporarily for an injury and don't want to hang onto it, you can give it to someone else, or even donate it!
just, recently someone was complaining about ankle pain (a sprain, i think, they weren't using crutches or wearing a boot or anything so i'm not sure) and i'm just thinking "why wouldn't you get a cane for that?" like, medical underarm crutches can be unwieldy, and it's just one ankle, so a cane is a perfect solution
anyway, stigma around mobility aids is a prison and you can literally just buy a cane if it'd help you. no one can stop you, and you can donate it if it doesn't help/when you don't need it anymore

rented a wheelchair at the zoo during a uni event today,
I've been severely underestimating how inconvenient the generic hospital-style chairs are
like my upper body strength is fine, but i am very short and now my arms are bruised from the armrests and i have blisters :) if the armrests had been removable I would've been fine
but I'll take some bruises over falling over or stabbing pain any day so 馃し

Anyone have any tips for decorating a cane? I might be getting one to see if it鈥檒l take some of the pressure off of my bunions and I want it to look as fruity as I am
