For @starblue2406
Here are a few things I'll eat in a day. I typically don't eat a big breakfast, but I will have a big lunch. Dinners in my family are late, usually 6pm to 8pm, we typically walk after dinner, then I'll drink tea to relax before bed.
You'll probably notice a lack of beef and pork, I have trouble digesting them, so it's mostly chicken and seafood. My family also don't eat a lot of bread, it's treated more like a side than a meal.
And yeah, there's a quite a mix of cultures here. My mom's side is Greek/Egypt with Turkish influences from her great grandfather, my dad is Native American with some adopted local New Mexico flavors. Since I was originally born and raised by the ocean, seafood and sea vegetables are a big thing in my diet. They're hard to find in the southwest, but I crave them and they keep me healthy as I have low blood pressure, so I need a bit of healthy salt.
----------------
Things I'll have for breakfast:
Apple cider vinegar mixed with honey or a fruit juice, usually pomegranate juice. Gets my digestive system prepped.
Oatmeal with dates, pumpkin seeds, and seasonal fruit.
Fresh fruit or fruit jelly with yogurt. I like Greek yogurt as it's more creamy and filling.
Seaweed soup with green onions or salmon
Kefir a type of strong yogurt drink
Crepe with fruit, pine nuts and honey
Omelet with spinach or dandelion greens
Eggs boiled in black tea and star anise
Shakshuka eggs with tomato and spices

Green tea
Yerba mate

Tuna with red onion and chopped mozzarella
A salad made of lightly pickled cucumber and lato (sea grapes)
Rice soup - Made with leftover tea, seaweed, sesame seeds, fish
Baby octopus with chopped tomatoes, red onion, and oregano -

Grilled cheese with strawberry and sage
Jellyfish salad with sweet vinegar and red chili
Steamed cactus pads with watermelon rind
Blue corn bread with sweet corn
Fish cakes in a crab broth with five spice seasoning
Ful medames
Peel and eat shrimp

My JAL flight last month had one each of the best and weirdest airline meals I've ever had! Also a bottle of wine featuring... Hannibal fanart I think?
Tumblr media
No??? Am I the only one who sees it?
Tumblr media
The great meal was street-food-style chicken over rice! I thought it was a risky choice because these are not flavors that are very familiar in Japan (where they tend to under-season Western food to begin with), but it was very flavorful and very satisfying! The steamed cabbage was a weird addition but I liked it.
Also had delicious sides: salad, miso soup, marinated carrots with mandarin slices and tuna (which should not have worked but did), pasta salad with edamame and broccoli and capers, and some kind of corn custard? I would say corn pudding but this was much creamier. They also offered me an ice cream, which I could not eat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The weird meal had three containers that you were supposed to mix together. The first was pasta with chicken, kabocha squash, greens, and pieces of barley(?). The second was a carbonara-style sauce with slices of lotus root (weird?? but I like lotus root). The third was steamed broccoli, soy meat, and pickled cabbage??? Like, it's weird enough to put so many ingredients in a creamy, silky, carbonara sauce, but grainy loose barley(???) and PICKLES???? Of all things.
The meal was formulated by Tanita, an equipment manufacturer that is known for diet food because it makes scales, but health food does not have to be gross, and also I've had pleasant JAL meals from them before (I think). Anway, I did not mix the third container in, which was good because the soy meat had a sweet seasoning that was really offputting. Also I got a bite or two of an unidentifiable starchy vegetable that tasted like dirt and raw potato. It turned out to be the base of a baby corn??? I love baby corn, but it tasted wrong, maybe somewhat rotten.
Overall very bizarre experience. I kinda cannot wait to see what they have in store for me next week.

You should date a woman who loves salad. More specifically, one who bedecks her salads with any combination of feta, chicken, rollmop herrings, apples, lemon juice, olives, cashew nuts, peanuts, almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, pine nuts, minced lamb, grated cheese, the occasional doughnut or pain au chocolat, coleslaw, hoummous, mayonnaise, mustard, curry, more olives, crisps, pretzels, tuna, pork pies, sausage rolls, takoyaki, sausages, gherkins, mushrooms, pickled onions, chutney, kimchi, noodles, pasta, potato croquettes, shredded cabbage, ice cream and of course croutons, packing in enough nutrition to live on salad alone.
She's an amazing chef and a wizard with lettuce, a truly enthusiastic eater. She might even show you how to unseed a pepper in a single stroke!

What are your favorite vegan dishes? 👀
woops sorry it took me so long to answer this
here's a couple things i make pretty often
vegan red lentil curry
30 minute coconut curry
best vegan chili
cornmeal pancakes (<FUN AND SEXY BREAKFAST OPTION)
chickpea tuna salad (great for lunches!)
also really love a roasted veggie. cabbage, broccoli, zucchini, cauliflower, carrots, potatoes - you can't go wrong. roast some veggies, serve 'em up with some rice on the side.
cool thing about being vegan is that you can pretty much look up anything you used to like before you went vegan and add "vegan recipe" to it in a search engine and you'll get like a dozen recipe blogs helping you out.

Ciao! Hey, what are traditional or common Christmas dishes or salads in Italy?
Ciao! Answered to the Christmas dishes part here. If/whenever I can, I will try to add the famous video I wanted to record a couple of years ago.
As for salads, I am not a huge fan but I want to mention the most famous one which is called "insalata russa" (you can read the recipe in English here). I think there are some more (maybe even with fish?? I might have said something stupid now lol sorry) but IDK, each Region has their own specialties, so... Italians, send help!
Honestly salads for me are the ones with just veggies (like simply green salad with or without tomatoes), or a common salad we can eat throughout the year is made of green salad, tomatoes, tuna, boiled egg, mozzarella, corn seeds. We may even eat raw random veggies after dunkin them a little in a mixture of oil and salt (in particular peppers, fennel, celery and some other I cannot remember -this is more summer-ish tho). In my Region we may use the bagna cauda (=hot sauce, in our regional language) instead of the oil+salt. It's made of oil+garlic+anchovies reduced to a sauce and put in the hoven: we generally eat both baked or raw vegetables with it (onions, peppers, radishes, beets, potatoes, raw cabbages' leaves, and many more). Being a typical dish some families may prepare it for Christmas, in particular in certain areas in the Langhe or near Turin (I think, don't kill me I live in the fake Piedmont side LOL)
Hope it helps! Buone feste!

Every time I read food history, especially American food history, I learn a food or a dish is actually Jewish-inspired or straight up Jewish.
And it's food I eat a lot bc of my dad. "The more I learn/The more a mirror" line is not just about worldview or mannerisms, but apparently also about tuna salad sandwiches and corned beef/potato/cabbage Irish-American stew.

you walk out and declare to the world you'd like to have a salad.
Ravenswatch: you go out to a nice restaurant and are given a steak covered in ground herbs and sprigs of parsley. it is still a pretty solid steak.
Project Moon: you are dragged to an opera house and have pork-stuffed cabbage rolls each the shape and size of an adult human arm splattered onto a plate. it's a safe and melodramatic but reasonably well-acted show, while the food goes mostly uneaten, just photographed for social media.
Touhou Project: you are pulled into a potluck where everybody brought in a different dish called "salad" somewhere or another. there are a few arguments with people over those who brought potato salad, tuna salad, cookie salad, and jello salad, but there's plenty of novel vegetable dishes to go around, and in the end you enjoy the organizer's fervent lecture over gmo food supply monopolies. when you leave, everybody who didn't attend thinks you went to a dishware convention held at a movie theatre.
Blasphemous: you end up taking a long stroll through a beautiful vegetable garden while its owners talk about the monocultures of the western lawncare industry causing immense damage to the local ecosystems. afterwards, you are given a comically large package of dried fruit snacks.
Namesake: you are trapped at a salad bar with a long-lost friend for a week. despite this, you come around to having a pretty good time by the start of day three.
God of War: you are dragged to a wrestling match and given a bucket of popcorn with a fistful of hand-shredded iceberg lettuce soaked with butter.
SMT: you are dragged over to a fashion runway where the models are all wearing dresses styled like leaves. some of the dresses actually look pretty nice, but a few members of the audience point out most of them are leftover designs a few decades old, the newer dresses aren't really wearable in public, and miss when the old designers also made food.
Spindlehorse: you are dragged onto the front steps of an instagram influencer's house and have a stalk of celery, several ice cream cones, and a few shish-kabobs stabbed into your kidneys. for the crime of audibly protesting, you are inundated with hatemail for several months.
