in honor of its anniversary, an edit to highlight how the distress signal changed everything for Hardwon in an instant.
Transcript:
an edit mashing If the World Was Ending by JP Saxe ft. Julia Michaels with various clips from campaign 3 of NADDPod - from (in order) episodes 30, 32, 39, and 41. all clips after the third are from episode 41. the lyrics are in bold. ah, it's been a year now, think I figured out how, how to think about you without it ripping my heart out Hardwon (Jake): I am... enjoying my golden years. [cast laughs] and I know, you know, we know, you weren't down for forever, and it's fine Hardwon: They're gonna stay as strong and heroic as we all once were and... I'm going to fade away. I know, you know, we know, we weren't meant for each other, and it's fine Hardwon: But... Beverly and Moonshine? They don't need me. And- and I have to be okay with that. but if the world was ending, you'd come over, right? Moonshine (Emily): [static overlaying audio, speaking breathlessly and almost in tears] Hardwon? I don't know if you're - I don't know if you're out there but [draws breath] Gruumsh, he's gettin' stronger than ever and, and we're doing the best we can in Isgard, but they've got us backed into Kord's Great Hall. And Kord - Hardwon - Kord has been wounded [draws another breath]. you'd come over and you'd stay the night Moonshine: [still with static] So, I think if - I don't know where you went to but if, if you can come back? Things - things are bad. I think we've only got maybe another week. Oh, I, oh, I gotta go - Hardwon please? would you love me for the hell of it? Hardwon: [static cuts out] Uh, h-h-hello? Hello? Hello? I'm coming. Moonshine? [cast laughs] Moonshine? Hello? all our fears would be irrelevant Hardwon: They need me, um, that, yeah, they need me. They need me in the Astral Plane. Moonshine needs me, Beverly needs me. if the world was ending, you'd come over, right? Callie (Emily): How did you get here from the Astral Plane? Because you can use that to get back, right? Sol (Caldwell): Uh huh. Hardwon: We're, we're, we're days, days, weeks away from The Crick. I, they don't have, they don't have that kind of time. Callie: So you need an arcane battery? Hardwon: We need this machine working, yes. sky'd be falling while I hold you tight Hardwon: Okay, um, Moonshine, um... I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I - I'm sorry I left. But that's - that's not important. I'm - I hear you. I'm coming, girl. Tell Beverly that I'll be there soon. no, there wouldn't be a reason why we would even have to say goodbye Hardwon: You guys - you can hold your own. And, and I won't think of myself as a liability ever again. Ciao. Or bye. Or later. Whatever. See you soon. if the world was ending, you'd come over, right? Moonshine: Hardwon, it's damn good to hear your voice. you'd come over, right? Moonshine: And it'll be even better to see your face. you'd come over, you'd come over, you'd come over, right? Moonshine: Get here.

A man has been found guilty of the 2005 murder of Emma Caldwell after a trial that raised significant questions about the police investigation of the unsolved murder and the key suspect over almost 20 years, as well as attitudes to reports of violence against sex workers.
Iain Packer, 51, was sentenced to at least 36 years in prison for Caldwell’s murder and was found guilty of 32 other charges against a total of 22 women that amounted to a horrifying course of unchecked physical and sexual violence over two decades. The offences included 11 rapes and multiple sexual assaults.
Sentencing Packer to the second-longest term in Scottish legal history, the judge, Lord Beckett, said the killer was responsible for an “extreme campaign of sexual violence”, preying on the vulnerable and causing “extreme and enduring suffering for so many women and their families”.
Immediately after the verdicts, the Police Scotland assistant chief constable Bex Smith, who is the executive lead for major crime and public protection, apologised directly to Caldwell, her family and “many other victims”, saying they were all “let down by policing in 2005”.
Caldwell was living in a hostel in Glasgow when she disappeared in April 2005, aged 27. Her naked body was found five weeks later in Limefield Woods near Biggar, South Lanarkshire.
Her mother told the trial that Caldwell had started taking heroin to numb her grief over the death of her older sister. She had been making money through sex work at the time of her death. The court heard from a friend of Caldwell’s that Packer had become “obsessed” with her, following her and attempting to scare away her other clients.
Although a rape allegation was first made against Packer in 1990, the prosecutor advocate depute, Richard Goddard KC, told the jury that at that time police were “dismissive” of reports made by sex workers. He said it was a “tragedy” that sex workers felt forced to accept sexual assault as “part and parcel of their job”.
Another witness said Packer chose girls who were “young, vulnerable and on drugs”. Many of the women who gave witness statements were sex workers at the time and some have since died.
Packer – who denied all charges apart from one of a prior indecent assault against Caldwell, for which he admitted he was “ashamed” – gave evidence at the trial over three days, insisting he had not killed Caldwell and that the other women accusing him were either mistaken or liars.
He admitted taking sex workers to the woods where Caldwell’s body was found – but not to the same spot where she was found. Asked where he was on the night Caldwell disappeared, Packer told the court he could have been at work or walking his dogs.
The court had heard earlier from a forensic expert that soil found in his van was a 97% match for earth at the spot where Caldwell was dumped.
Information about the police investigation that came to light during the trial raised significant questions about why it took so long to bring Packer to justice. He gave six statements to police between 2005 and 2007, but was not interviewed under caution as a suspect.
A decade later, concerns about the unsolved case were such that in 2015 the lord advocate ordered Police Scotland to re-investigate not only who killed Caldwell, but flaws in the original inquiry.
The original police investigation was focused on four Turkish men, who were charged with Caldwell’s murder in August 2007, but that case collapsed and the men were released.
Smith made it plain that Strathclyde police, the force that first investigated Caldwell’s murder before Scottish forces were merged into one force in 2013, had failed Packer’s victims.
“A significant number of women and girls who showed remarkable courage to speak up at that time also did not get the justice and support they needed and deserved from Strathclyde police,” she said. “It is clear that further investigations should have been carried out into Emma’s murder following the initial inquiry in 2005. The lack of investigation until 2015 caused unnecessary distress to her family and all those women who had come forward to report sexual violence.”
Caldwell’s mother, Margaret, who has campaigned tenaciously for justice for her daughter, said she felt “betrayed” by the original police investigation and “angry” that it had taken so long for Packer to be brought to justice.
Her solicitor, Aamer Anwar, called for an inquiry into police failings, saying: “A toxic culture of misogyny and corruption meant the police failed so many women and girls who came forward to speak up against Packer.
“Instead of receiving justice and compassion, they were humiliated, dismissed and in some instances arrested, whilst the police gifted freedom to an evil predator to rape and rape again.”

The cost to settle IS Pennies to the production companies.
Tumblr media
Text from above image:
Barry Caldwell
I'm on fire tonight.
I don't have the data yet to do this for SAG, however, the point can be made just using WGA data.
This is the cost for the studios to settle the strike, and since each company has different numbers, I break it down for you.
Netflix. Cost to settle: $68 million. Annual revenue: $31.6 billion. Cost % of Revenues: 0.215%
Paramount. Cost to settle: $45 million. Annual revenue: $30.2 billion. Cost % of Revenues: 0.149%
Warner Brothers. Cost to settle: $47 million. Annual revenue: $43.1 billion. Cost % of Revenues: 0.109%
Disney. Cost to settle: $75 million. Annual revenue: $82.7 billion. Cost % of Revenues: 0.091%
Universal. Cost to settle: $34 million. Annual revenue: $121.4 billion. Cost % of Revenues: 0.028%
Sony. Cost to settle: $25 million. Annual revenue: $88.8 billion. Cost % of Revenues: 0.028%
Amazon. Cost to settle: $32 million. Annual revenue: $514 billion. Cost % of Revenues: 0.006%
Apple. Cost to settle: $17 million. Annual revenue: $394.3 billion. Cost % of Revenues: 0.004%
TOTAL: Cost to settle: $343 million. Annual revenue: $1.31 trillion. Cost % of Revenues: 0.026%
By way of comparison, median income in the US is $70,784. Your mileage may vary but in LA the average cost of a gardener is $65 a month. If your gardener asked for a raise equal to the above, he's asking for an extra $1.53 per month. If he's doing an amazing job that increases the value of your home, and you can't afford $1.53, you need to go to church.

ALEX CALDWELL (Glen Powell) is looking for their YOUNGER SIBLING(S).
CONNECTION NAME:
[UTP] Caldwell (unless they’ve changed their name for a significant reason, which can be discussed!)
CONNECTION:
Younger siblings (0/4)
AGE:
Sibling 1: 32-33 Sibling 2: 28-31 Sibling 3: 26-27 Sibling 4: no younger than 25
FACECLAIM:
Katherine Langford, Leo Woodall, Mike Faist, Josephine Langford, Olivia Cooke, Margaret Qualley, Emma Corrin, Luke Newton, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Haley Lu Richardson, Liv Hewson, E.R. Fightmaster, Nico Tortorella, Jeremy Irvine. I gave lots of suggestions to help a prospective player but I’m open to just about anything!
BACKGROUND
** These were just my initial thoughts but all of it is absolutely up for discussion ** the second eldest — this sibling has remained their father’s loyal confidant, all this time. sometimes putting their own wants and dreams on the backburner to support their heartbroken, rapidly aging father. maybe this sibling has a little bit of resentment for their older brother, and how quickly he ran away from their family. the middle child (sort of) — this sibling has always felt looked over, and rarely considered. as a result, they’ve become an adult that is a ‘go-with-the-flow’ type, but that’s only a mask that hides their true feelings. they struggle with feeling tied down to anyone or anything, and their only career right now is being a professional couch surfer. what good are aspirations if there’s no one to congratulate you at the finish line? the youngest — this sibling has been living with their mother since Alex moved out of their father’s house for college, when they were just 11 years old. Alex is probably a virtual stranger to them, so whatever has caused them to reach out to him must be mighty important.

Study: Most trans adults say transitioning has made them more satisfied with their lives.
Tumblr media
The Washington Post has published a broad  study of American transgender lives. It proves that for most trans people transitioning helps.
The Newspaper says that the Post-KFF poll is the largest nongovernmental survey of U.S. transgender adults to rely on random sampling methods. More than 500 people who identify as trans answered questions about their childhoods, their feelings and their lives post-transition.
Here are some take-aways:
Coming out
About 9 in 10 transgender adults under age 35 are out to their family or friends, while about 2 in 10 trans adults 35 and older have not told friends or family about their gender identity.
Many identify as nonbinary or gender non-conforming
62 percent identify as “trans, gender non-conforming” or “trans, nonbinary,” while 33 percent identify as a “trans man” or “trans woman.”
Nearly half prefer they/them pronouns, although most say they use she/her or he/him pronouns.
There are a lot of ways to present as trans
77 percent of trans Americans say they have changed their type of clothing or hairstyle to better fit their gender identity.
57 percent have used a different name than the one on their birth certificate.
31 percent have used hormone treatments, HRT or puberty-blocking hormones.
16 percent have undergone gender-affirming surgery or another surgical treatment to change their physical appearance.
Tumblr media
Two thirds know by the age of 18
66 percent say they were younger than 18 when they began to understand that their gender was different from their sex assigned at birth, including 32 percent who became aware of it when they were 10 or younger.
Tumblr media
Two thirds feel the force of discrimination and attacks
63 percent say they “sometimes” or “frequently” feel discriminated against because of their gender identity or gender expression, while 36 percent say this “seldom” or “never” happens.
64 percent say they have been verbally attacked because of their gender identity, gender expression or sexual identity, and 25 percent say they have been physically attacked.
In spite of all the Republican violence 55  percent thinks that  the US is more accepting of trans people now than it was 10 years ago.
Tumblr media
They are much more satisfied after transitioning
78 percent say that living as a gender different from the one assigned to them at birth has made them more satisfied with their lives. 45  percent say they are “a lot” more satisfied.
“Living doesn’t hurt any more,” said TC Caldwell of Alabama to the Post. “It feels good to just breathe and be myself.”
More here:
6 key takeaways from the Post-KFF survey of transgender Americans
Most trans adults say transitioning made them more satisfied with their lives

Majority of trans adults are happier after transitioning, survey finds

195. Various Authors - Dragon #72 (April 1983)
Tumblr media
The April issue of Dragon can only mean one thing, a bunch of comedic articles sprinkled throughout the magazine, and that is certainly the case here. Beyond the very cool but serious Clyde Caldwell cover we immediately get a tongue in cheek editorial by Kim Mohan where he states that seeing as no one is ever happy with the magazine they are cutting it back to 32 pages and are starting to cover dragsters as a way to widen the audience of the magazine.
Tumblr media
There are, of course, serious articles in the magazine as well and some important ones, as is the case of Gygax's unveiling of a new sub-class: The Cavalier. In a 6 page article we get a whole new kind of Fighter class. Also new is the "Ecology of..." column, this time with the Ecology of the Piercer, with a fun article explaining how it works and an even better anatomic illustration of the Piercer's insides.
Tumblr media
Then Ed Greenwood brings us an encyclopedic article on gems and particularly those which can be found in his Forgotten Realms, 9 pages of lists and details about different types of gems. Ed never left any stone unturned in his fleshing out of the Realms, and it's so great to see this years before it would be an official campaign setting. Humor returns with Roger Moore's article on sex in AD&D, which is pretty funny, exploring how various monsters reproduce, an article by John Sapienza on the uselessness of level titles and again some humor with the comics that close out the issue.

Wait, I found more on the Rudder story
SECRET JET PARTS END UP ON EBAY
By Leonard Greene
June 3, 2002 4:00am
A shipment of sensitive communication parts from the SR-71 Blackbird spy plane and the tough F-16 fighter jet was on sale to the highest bidder last week before eBay yanked the items amid an Air Force investigation.
According to a report in Newsweek, a crate-load of secret spare parts found its way to the auction site, where the general public – including enemies of the state – could have posted bids on the items.
Rogue nations such as Iran routinely seek replacement parts for their U.S.-manufactured military planes, officials told the magazine, and the eBay sale could have easily been used to provide supplies.
“This is now under active investigation by the OSI [Office of Special Investigations],” said Lt. Col. Mike Caldwell, the Pentagon’s Air Force public-affairs chief.
The OSI has already received the names and addresses of customers who bought several of the parts, and is making offers to buy them back.
An antiques dealer said he bought the crate of parts for $244 from a transfer company that had them in storage for 12 years.
The dealer scooped up the crate after the transfer company put the parts up for sale as unclaimed property.
The parts had been shipped in 1989 from Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to the Warner Robins Air Logistics Supply Depot in Georgia, but never made it.
A&A Transfer held the parts in its storage space until last month. Apparently no attempt to locate the missing items was ever made.
Norb Novocin, the antiques dealer, said he bought the parts without realizing what they were.
The sale items included parts for aerial tankers and cargo jets. Novocin said he sold four items, including a weather radar modulator for $500 and a high-frequency radio circuit card for $32.
When the Air Force learned of the sales, officials launched an investigation, asked that the sale be halted and got a list of customers who purchased the items.
Several of the items Novocin purchased cannot legally be owned by a private owner in a condition other than scrap metal. Here it is in the San Diego Museum. If anyone goes to the museum, please let me know if it’s still there Linda Sheffield.

Crimes That Shook Britain (Glasgow)
Tumblr media
Peter Manuel In 1946, aged just 16, Peter Manuel was jailed for a string of sexual attacks. After his release in the mid-1950s, he became the country's worst serial killer. In January 1956, he stalked Anne Kneilands, 17, at an East Kilbridge golf course, raping and bludgeoning her to death.
That September, he shot Marion Watt, 45, and her daughter Vivienne, 17, as well as Marion's sister Margaret Brown, 41, in their Glasgow home. And Manuel's killing spree continued. In December 1957, Manuel shot taxi driver Sydney Dunn, 36 - and, later that month, Isabelle Cooke, 17, was raped, strangled and buried in a Lanarkshire field.
On New Year's Day 1958, Peter Smart, 45, his wife Doris, 42, and son Michael, 10, were shot in their beds. Manuel was finally caught after being arrested for using stolen money. At Glasgow High Court, Peter Manuel was convicted of eight murders. A coroner later found him guilty of the ninth.
In July 1958, after a last meal of fish and chips, he was hanged at HM Prison Barlinnie.
Tumblr media
Colin Norris Glaswegian-born nurse Colin Norris once boasted to colleagues, 'someone always died' on his night shifts. And when Ethel Hall, 86 - admitted with a broken hip - was found unconscious and later died, a suspicious specialist ordered blood tests. She'd been given a massive insulin overdose.
Norris was convicted and sentenced to life for the murder of Ethel Hall, 86, Doris Ludlam, 80, Bridget Bourke, 88, and Irene Crookes, 79, and attempted murder of Vera Wilby, 90.
Norris, 32, had given them lethal doses of insulin at the two Leeds hospitals where he'd worked in 2002.
Tumblr media
Murder of Emma Caldwell In May 2005 , Emma Caldwell, 27, was found dead in isolated woods near Biggar. The young woman, a Glasgow prostitute and heroin addict, had last been seen alive in the Govanhill area of Glasgow that April.
Emma's was one of a number of unsolved murders involving sex workers, and sparked a major police operation. Regular clients were interviewed by the Strathclyde force, no arrests were made. Two years after Emma's murder, police charged four Turkish men following a £4m covert operation.
The case later collapsed when evidence was brought into question - and the murder trail ran cold. The case remains open, yet unsolved.
Tumblr media
Murder of Angelika Kluk In September 2006, the body of Angelika Kluk, 23, was found under the floor of a Glasgow church. She'd been beaten, raped and stabbed to death. Last to see her alive was church handyman Patrick McLaughlin. DNA on the Polish student's body matched that of Peter Tobin, jailed for rape in 1994 and released in 2004.
The sex offender, who'd been using the alias of Patrick McLaughlin, was arrested. At the High Court in Edinburgh in May 2007, Peter Tobin, 60, was convicted of murder and jailed for life. The case also led to his conviction for the murders of Vicky Hamilton, 16, and Dinah McNicol, 18.
Some speculate that Tobin may also be 'Bible John'.
Tumblr media
House of Blood Murders A triple murder at a Glasgow flat in 2004 began with a boozy row between David Gillespie, 42, and Edith McAlinden, 37. After, David and pals Ian Mitchell, 67, and Tony Coyle, 71, lay dead, the walls dripping blood.
McAlinden, her son John, 17, and his mate, Jamie Gray, 16, each pleaded guilty to one count of murder. The teens got 12 years each, McAlinden a minimum of 13.
Tumblr media
Bible John Bible John is the nickname given to a serial killer who raped and murdered three woman after meeting them at a Glasgow ballroom between 1968 and 1969.
The killings began in February 1968, when Patricia Docker, 25, was found in a back street battered and strangled with her own stockings. In August 1969, Jemima McDonald, 32, was found dead in a derelict building. And, two months later, Helen Puttock, 29, was strangled with her stockings.
All three had spent the previous evening at Barrowlands Ballroom. Helen's sister Jeannie Williams said that Helen had danced with a man named 'John', before sharing a taxi home, during which 'John' had quoted from the Bible.
However, despite a huge murder hunt, the investigation went cold. Some crime experts believe the known movements and methods of killer Peter Tobin suggest he could be Bible John. Yet, it has never been proved and the case remains unsolved.

Murder of Kriss Donald In March 2004, Kriss Donald was found dead beside the Clyde. The 15-year-old had been abducted and taken on a terrifying 200-mile drive, before being stabbed, doused in petrol and burned to death.
It seems gang members had killed him in revenge for an incident at a Glasgow club - not connected to Kriss - and he'd been singled out because he was white. Imran Shahid, 29, his brother Zeeshan, 28, and Mohammed Mushtaq, 27, were jailed for life for his murder.
