TCF is all about healing
- This is a review about the novel.
There's possible SPOILERS for readers who haven't finished reading the first volume.
___
When I first picked up the novel, I didn't have high expectations. After reading a lot of stories that end up disappointing me because of how the author eventually adds romance or harems into the story because their main character apparently needs a romantic relationship to feel good about themselves, I thought that Trash of the Count's Family will be the same thing further down the line.
But damn, did the author prove me wrong.
In the first few chapters, the novel's entire vibe was almost unnoticeable. Sure, there were some small details like him not being used to extravagant clothes or finding a simple meal delicious, but it wasn't obvious. It made me raise my eyebrow but I simply thought that he's a simple salaryman or something.
The first lines about him not having anyone who would miss him if he's gone in his previous world can be excused as him having no lingering attachments. And honestly, some transmigration/isekai stories do have their main characters having no attachments in their previous world. So it makes sense and it didn't alert me of what could've possibly happened to Cale, former Kim Rok Soo, for him to be so aloof and calm at the forced transmigration.
And then...he thought about poverty and pity when interacting with On and Hong. That was the first sign that he may have left a few lines out of his introduction.
It steadily got worse when he was talking to Choi Han about him being used to the cruelty of people like Venion. And then, at the first meeting with Raon, he appeared as if he understood the hopelessness of a child under an abusive adult's hand.
That's when I finally thought that TCF is a story about healing. And I was pleasantly surprised.
Sure, there's action, drama, and comedy, but TCF is mainly about moving on or healing from past hurts. There are moments when it can be called "cliche" but TCF is unique in the way it portrays Cale and his relationships. There's the found family trope that I love but what I love the most about the story is how these characters who have lost something or were about to lose something if OG Cale didn't make the deal with God of Death to have KRS replace him, is slowly understanding that they're not alone and that they can improve as a person if given the chance.
It's heart-warming and completely unexpected. I didn't read the first chapter expecting this fantasy-themed action novel to be about this.
OG Cale, Choi Han, Raon, On and Hong, Lock, Taylor and Cage, Alberu, the Dark Elves, Mary, and so many characters paved the way for me to completely fall in love with this novel.
If I sound like I'm exaggerating, then I don't care because this novel is just beautiful.
What completely blew my mind is the final reveal of Cale's past as Kim Rok Soo.
Listen, I have a love-hate relationship with KR survival novels involving monsters and dungeons and the freaking apocalypse. I love some of them and I can't stand the others. But I did not expect that Kim Rok Soo was in a world trying to survive from the effects of the apocalypse.
My first reaction was "What the actual fuck" because I 100% did not expect for the story to go that way. And my second thought was "So that's why!" Because it finally explains why he hates "papercuts"! This guy is so good at making big things about himself sound so small that it left me stunned when the big reveal happened!
I wanna slap him and hug him at the same time.
It explains why he's so good at being a commander. It explains why he's used to getting hurt or why he hates the thought of his friends and family dying with him as the survivor (I believe he has a survivor's guilt?). It explains everything.
He may be in a new world but he's still stuck in his past no matter how much he says about not thinking about what-ifs and his past. The time he spends in this new world is him slowly realizing that he's not alone and he doesn't have to be so scared.
And when I finally thought that I'm done being surprised, OG Cale appears and flips everything I knew about the character. They talk about how content they are with their new identities. They smile. They're happy. And that proves why this novel is about healing and not the simple transmigration novel full of action and comedy. Instead of getting angry at Kim Rok Soo, former Cale Henituse, for the deal with God of Death, he's just happy for the man and for himself. I just love how the author doesn't forget about Kim Rok Soo's sacrifices and rewards him with a happy life with his mother.
It's so hard not to finish the novel within weeks because of how good it is. It can be fast in some parts for the action, which makes sense since everything is happening at once. But there are also slow emotional moments that keep reminding me why I love this novel.
So yeah, this is my review about TCF. It's not a perfect novel but it's a good novel about healing and family. And I'm waiting for the second volume to be done so I can finally read the rest.

TFC Crackfic Prompt - Cale's Dragon Harem
Kinda craving for a fic where the rumor mill has everyone assuming that Cale and Lord Sherritt were romantically involved and Raon is their secret love child.
Both of them think it's hilarious and play it up. Cale abusing his acting skills and "lament" about his Lost Lenore that is Sherritt to deter all the marriage offers, and Sherrit enabling this silly human's tragic Shakespearian monologues by suggesting more outrageous details.
At some point, Dragon Half-Blood gets involved. Now what's this about the Dragon Lord and the Silver Shield Hero sharing custody of him? Wait, where did this rumor of him being the result of a nasty break up by Lord Sherritt and the White Nobody came from?
Then everyone looks at how Cale is essentially Dragon nip and then the rumor mill takes on a life of its own.
What do you mean Cale is also Dodori's father? Mila say something. I think your son is SHIPPING us.
Why does everything think that Eruhaben is courting him? Bruh, that's like his third dad and grandfather of his youngest kid. No, he's not Jour Thames's father. He's also not Lord Sherritt's father. For fuck's sake, Lord Sherritt predates him in the quadruple digits.
Rasheel, you're my only hope. Do something before even the Elves do something drastic and start planning our wedding or something.
WHY IS EVERYONE SAYING THAT CHOI HAN IS ALSO A DRAGON?! IT'S HIS BLACK YONG, ISN'T IT? WHAT IS EVEN IN THE WATER THAT'S MAKING PEOPLE SO STUPID?! AT THIS RATE, HOW LONG BEFORE PEOPLE START ASSUMING ROSALYN IS ALSO A DRAGON CUZ SHE GOT TO BECOME A STUDENT OF ONE?
Cale wishes to go back to people assuming he's a Dragon plz.

Just saying...
An online friend asked me why I prefer OG!Cale over KRS!Cale, because why did I love a character that had pretty much only appeared in one scene outside of flashbacks?
I do admit that I did enjoy KRS!Cale at first, but eventually I got bored.
It's because of the misunderstandings.
I've been reading a bunch of manhwa lately and I've noticed that "misunderstandings that elevate the mc" is a common trope (similar to how harems are a common trope in Japanese Isekai genre). Don't get me wrong, I know there's a legitimate reason why KRS!Cale acts the way he does (I know his backstory), but the constant glorifying misunderstandings was honestly getting repetitive to me that it took away my enjoyment. KRS!Cale's abysmal lack of self-awareness (Again, I know why he's like that) over how his actions are perceived by others also got old to me really quick. (I still read the manhwa to see the designs of characters and the lore)
The reason why I enjoyed OG!Cale more is because, in his case, he deliberately creates a misunderstanding as trash.
I honestly enjoyed the fanfic interpretations of OG!Cale's character a lot more than the canon characters, even the canon fact that even before the whole war in TBOAH, he was not just some one-time trashy drunkard the novel described him to be. It was a facade to protect his family, even if he became the mask. It reminded me very much of Furina (while she wasn't my fav, I loved her actress motif).

(sorry if I have sent this to you earlier, I didn't know if it went through cuz my laptop bugged out haha. Feel free to ignore this if so-)
Idk if your still open for TCF prompts, but if soooo: Everyone in the group knows that Cale is aromantic, or at least knows he doesn't want a romantic partner. However the public doesn't know this, and assumptions and rumors begins to fly as they see Young Master Cale interact with some members of his group. (Basically Cale is in a QPR, or has something similar to that, with those of your choosing! People makes assumptions but it's eventually revealed what is really going on)
AO3
There are a lot of rumors about Commander Cale Henituse, the esteemed hero Silver Shield and the savior of both continents. Ranging from ridiculous (saying that Cale Henituse is related to the White Star and that’s why he was able to defeat him will get you laughed out of a tavern, with a few good kicks added for emphasis), to actually plausible (the current raging theory that the Commander is on his path to godhood is usually met with agreeing nods), the rumors fly from kingdom to kingdom and from continent to continent at unprecedented speed. Thanks to his many great and varied public deeds, Cale Henituse’s life is an excellent fodder for imaginations of nobles and commoners alike.
However, the current rumor is a bit different.
It seems that Commander Cale Henituse actually has a harem.
It started innocuously, in a small tavern in Rain City, the patrons imbibing large quantities of alcohol and listening to even larger quantities of gossip.
“I heard he attended a ball with Princess Rosalyn, from the Breck Kingdom! Did you know that she’s building a new Magic Tower? Only someone as capable as that is worthy of the Commander!”
“Didn’t he attend a ball with Knight Choi Han a few weeks back?” A couple of nods and a rumble of murmurs answer the question. “Did they break up?”
“No, they weren’t even together. Going to the ball at the same time doesn’t mean they’re dating.”
“You’re the one that said that the Commander is dating Princess Rosalyn!”
“They just fit! I saw them once on the street in the shopping district and they were very close! And the picture they make— ah, they look so beautiful together!”
“Well, Knight Choi Han always follows the Commander, so I guess they might be dating too!”
“Uhhh, guys,” a timid voice interrupts them as one of the gate guards raises his hand like he’s in a classroom. “Doesn’t Knight Choi Han live together with the Commander? I heard they have a villa near Harris Village.”
A thoughtful silence follows this sentence. Then a series of considering nods and whispers, as the patrons catch each other’s eyes.
“It’s not so strange? A knight should live with his lord, right?”
“But, uh, isn’t Choi Han from Harris Village? Did the Commander build a villa there just to have Choi Han live closer to home?”
“That seems like something the Commander would do. He’s so kind!”
Everyone drinks to that, and then there’s shouting for a new round.
“But doesn’t that mean that Choi Han is more than just a knight?”
“He’s a hero too, he deserves that much,” someone refutes.
“A whole villa where they live together? I think that’s a bit too much for any hero. The Commander didn’t need to move into Choi Han’s villa.”
This time, the murmurs lean more toward Choi Han.
The man who first talked about Princess Rosalyn and the Commander frowns. “But Princess Rosalyn is also living together with them. Didn’t she move in during the war?”
The following moment of silence is full of consideration.
“Does that mean he’s dating both of them?”
The room explodes. The evening ends with a bar fight so nasty that two people end up in the hospital and the rumors about what started it only grow with retelling. As does Commander Cale’s harem.
Eventually, the rumors reach Huiss City and the ears of royal spies therein. When Tasha hears them, she bursts out laughing, doesn’t stop for good ten minutes, and then immediately goes to inform her nephew.
“So there are rumors that my dongsaeng is dating Choi Han.” At Tasha’s nod, Alberu frowns in confusion. “There have always been rumors like that. Why is this important?”
“There are also rumors saying Young Master Cale is dating Princess Rosalyn...”
Alberu sighs. “Well, those will have more immediate political consequences, but it’s nothing we haven’t heard before.”
“... At the same time as he’s dating Choi Han,” Tasha finishes, her pearly white teeth stark against her face as she grins.
“...What?” Alberu chokes out.
The thought of Cale dating two people at once is so strange that Alberu needs to take a moment to recover. As if Cale would want to be in a romantic relationship with even one person!
Tasha’s grin becomes outright mean. “There are even some rumors that the two of you are having an affair.”
“He’s my younger brother!” Alberu bursts out, more indignant than he remembers himself ever being in his life.
“And then there is Mary.”
“Surely people don’t think there is something going on between Cale and Mary?”
“Oh, they do, and there’s a lot of them.”
Alberu feels a headache oncoming. He rubs his temples and reaches into a tin can on his desk for some cookies to comfort him. “He treats her like she’s his kid.” Never mind that Mary is physically older than Cale. Cale has mentally slotted her into the same category as Raon, On, and Hong very early on, and now Mary gets an extravagant monthly allowance on Cale’s dime.
It’s telling that nobody has actually commented on this, or thought it strange. Their whole family accepted it as just another one of Cale’s eccentricities.
“And of course,” Tasha says, apparently not finished. “There is also Eruhaben.”
“He treats Cale as his kid!”
“Well, it’s not like people on the street know that,” Tasha points out, very reasonably. “But they do think that Young Master Cale is dating all of you. At the same time.”
“So they think that Cale… has a harem?” Alberu tries to wrap his head around this. There is not a person less likely to have a harem than Cale Henituse.
“Yes,” Tasha says, and smiles like this is the funniest thing she’s heard the whole year.
“Why?” Alberu wonders, for once not being able to guess what people are thinking. Cale is just so… Cale. Alberu can’t even imagine him wanting to date someone.
“Nephew,” Tasha gives him an arch look, and Alberu feels like he’s thirteen again, and is caught sneaking out for more practice with his sword. “You forget that not many people know Young Master Cale as well as you do. And when looking from outside, our family’s situation is a little strange.”
Alberu tries to think about this objectively.
“Our whole family lives together, even though most others have their own homes.”
“That is one part of it,” Tasha agrees. “It is especially strange for Princess Rosalyn, who is a royal from another kingdom, and Eruhaben-nim, who is known to be a Dragon.”
Alberu nods. “And whenever Cale goes somewhere, at least one member of our family accompanies him.”
“And the Young Master always buys everyone extravagant gifts.”
With each sentence, Alberu frowns even more.
“This is nuts,” he says.
Because, looking from outside perspective, it does seem like Cale has a harem.
…
He decides not to talk to Cale. Instead, he gathers Choi Han, Rosalyn, Eruhaben and Mary for a private talk, with the children averaging nine years old dragging Cale off to shop in the city (On takes one look at Alberu’s face before suggesting the trip; she is growing up to be terrifyingly perceptive).
When Alberu tells them the latest rumor, Eruhaben is the first to react. He sighs. “Unlucky bastard. And now he’s dragging me down with him.”
Choi Han is so red that his ears appear to be steaming. “How can they— why would anyone even think that?!”
“Because Cale provides for all of us,” Rosalyn says, laughing in delight. “And most people can’t imagine us being family. Not like this.”
“But this is so strange! Cale’s not… he is not—”
Interested. Cale is simply not interested.
It hadn’t taken them long to figure it out. Cale’s lack of interest in anything approaching romance or romantic relationships is so obvious to those close to him, that even the few of them that might have quietly considered it as an option chose to discard it immediately. Cale loves them, but it will never be romantic, and doesn’t have to be. They’re a family. That’s all there is to it, in the end.
Alberu smiles pleasantly, none of his previous confusion visible. “Of course, not many people know my dongsaeng well, so they would come to their own conclusions. However, I called you here today to discuss what to do next.”
“We have to stop them from saying it!” Choi Han burst out. “Cale-nim would be upset.”
“We don’t need to let Cale know,” Eruhaben points out reasonably. “He doesn’t need to worry about this too, and it’s not really a big problem.”
Alberu nods. “Eruhaben-nim is right. There is really no way to stop the rumors, but they’re not doing any real harm.”
“Why can’t we just say that none of us are involved with Young Master?” Mary asks. “Won’t people stop talking after that?”
“That won’t work,” Rosalyn shakes her head. “Denying something like this never works. It just makes it look like you have something to hide.”
“Exactly, Princess-nim is right,” Alberu agrees. “Our best official course of action would be to ignore the rumors completely. I wanted you to know about them so that you wouldn’t be surprised if you heard someone talk about it in a public setting.” Choi Han frowns at that answer, but Alberu only aims a bright smile in his direction. “Of course, if anyone approaches you privately to ask about any kind of rumors about my precious dongsaeng, feel free to respond as you wish.”
Choi Han’s answering smile appears innocent. Everyone in the room knows better than to trust it.
…
In the end, the gossip is stopped by the most unlikely person of them all.
During the couple of weeks the rumors have been rampaging around without any checks, no one has actually been brave enough to ask for clarification from any of the people involved. Alberu, Cale and Rosalyn’s high positions stop everyone from commenting on it in their hearing, even obliquely, and Eruhaben… Well. Eruhaben is a Dragon. No one dares.
There are a couple of people who try to broach the subject with Choi Han, thinking that the famously noble knight would not take offense. Those people end up in infirmary after Choi Han, somehow, convinces them to spar against him.
That leaves only Mary.
The thing about Mary is that she has a very clear, very even voice. So when she says, “I am not dating Young Master Cale-nim,” in a very crowded ballroom filled with Roan nobility, her voice carries despite the fact that she is not any louder than usual.
The nearby conversations immediately taper off as everyone strains their ears to listen.
“Oh?” asks the madam that had had enough courage to approach Mary in her little corner. “Does someone else have the luck to be the recipient the Commander’s affection?”
“Of course not,” Mary answers, apparently not noticing that she has the attention of half the crowd. “Young Master-nim is very busy. He does not have any time nor inclination for romantic attachments.”
The crowd murmurs in agreement. The madam lifts a hand to her mouth, looking stricken. “Of course, I completely forgot.” Eyes misting over, she says, “It’s admirable that the Commander is willing to deny himself so much just to keep our kingdom safe.”
Mary nods. “Cale-nim is very dedicated to his goal.”
Everyone feels very moved, but also very curious about the Commander’s goal. They haven’t heard anything about that, beyond Cale Henituse’s well-known wish to keep everyone in the kingdom safe and happy.
“His goal?” the madam asks, curiosity rising.
“Yes,” Mary confirms. “It will be very difficult and very hard to accomplish, but Cale-nim will surely succeed.”
“Of course he will!” the madam exclaims. “Who would ever doubt the Commander?”
Nevertheless, people are very eager to talk about his goal.
Very difficult and hard to accomplish? Perhaps it has something to do with his latest battles? The Commander had informed the public that he has been battling the organization behind the White Star’s power in other worlds. That is surely a feat that would bring him divine attention, and he has been seen visiting the Temple of the God of Death.
Perhaps… perhaps those rumors about Cale Henituse ascending to the path of legend and godhood are not so far off. Everyone has heard about them, and some even believed them, but this is the first time someone from the Commander’s inner circle confirmed that there is a bigger personal goal for him in all this.
The next day, there is some new gossip going around the taverns of Huiss City. This time, there are no bar fights, or even small brawls.
Everyone agrees that Cale Henituse is deserving of godhood anyway. Why would they fight about it?

Hiii so this is probably so very cringe fail of me but-
manwha AU where Yuu is like Cale Henituse from Trash of the Count’s Family.
manwha AU where Yuu wakes up, memories intact, everything replaying in her mind, and she decides that she’s gonna do everything in her power to just not interact with anyone and live a slacker life.
manwha AU where Yuu decides that since the trio sees her as a bitch, she’ll be the bitchiest around.
manwha AU where Yuu makes Crowley and Crewel proud by how much she spreads her network using the political information gained from her past life, and raising their family higher than ever before for her slacker life.
manwha AU where Yuu communicates with adults and said adults wonder if they’re even talking to a child since said child knows way too much about things that they shouldn’t.
manwha AU where Yuu no longer keeps the trio at a friendly distance but at a political acquaintance distance.
manwha AU where Yuu insulted as psychotic trash who hides her true intentions behind a lazy smile, and she just turns, smiles, and says: “why thank you, I live to please.”
Just. Lazy badass Yuu. I need this desperately. Please. (Trash of the Count’s Family is really good I recommend you read if you want male mc who is reincarnated as a villain who uses his knowledge of the story to his advantage and personal goals without romantic harem)
Cringe has no place in my domain, only enjoying things. I normally don't like manhwas without romance since to me thats the whole point XD but I'll check it out!
Honestly, Yuu is already isolating herself by refusing playdates with her only three friends and then becoming a shut-in. She's going to ha e duties still since she is the ONLY CHILD of the grand duke. Sadly, if Crowley can't dodge all his responsibilities, neither could Yuu.
Crewel and Crowley are actually already very concerned just because Yuu's been so sad lately and few things are able to lift her mood. If she had started talking like a full adult with info she shouldn't know, they'd instantly think possession.
I haven't had a chance to write it yet, but I will allude to it during the next Manhwa chapter. Yuu is actually a pretty violent child, a trait she keeps into adulthood. Crewel is already ready to verbally set you on fire in front of your loved ones. Yuu may actually do it and she can get away with it because she's the grand duke's child. Very few ever try to actually insult her. Because either Crewel kills them publically and slowly or Yuu beats them into a coma publically.

Trash of the Count's Family (백작가의 망나니가 되었다)

It is also known as Lout of Count's Family (Korean: 백작가의 망나니가 되었다; RR: Baekjakga-ui Mangnani-ga Doeeotda), is a South Korean manhwa adapted from the web novel written by Yoo Ryeo Han (유려한), with illustrations by PAN4.
After falling asleep while reading the fantasy novel Birth of a Hero, Kim Rok Soo wakes up inside the story—as Cale Henituse, a minor noble infamous for one thing: getting brutally beaten by the protagonist, Choi Han. In the novel, Choi Han loses everything, plunges into despair, and begins his heroic journey by delivering a well-deserved thrashing to Cale, a drunken, good-for-nothing noble. But Rok Soo has no intention of following that script. Armed with knowledge of the novel’s events and the resources of his new identity, he vows to change his fate, avoid conflict, and live a quiet, carefree life surrounded by wealth and comfort. Unfortunately, staying out of the spotlight is easier said than done. With ancient powers, dark forces stirring, and his every step unintentionally altering the plot, Cale may find himself in the middle of a much bigger adventure than he bargained for—all while desperately trying to live a peaceful, luxurious life.
This manhwa has quickly become one of my favorites. It’s a story that balances humor, world-building, and character-driven storytelling, making it a fun and enjoyable read.
The protagonist, Cale, is physically weak and has zero desire to be a hero. All he wants is to slack off and live a peaceful, comfortable life. Ironically, his attempts to avoid trouble only pull him further into conflict. Unlike the typical overpowered lead who brute-forces every obstacle, Cale embraces his limitations. He’s strategic, cautious, and relies on planning rather than strength, using his knowledge of the world (from having read the novel) to navigate sticky situations.
Cale is a compelling lead. He constantly denies being a good person, insisting he's selfish and doesn’t care about others—yet his actions repeatedly say otherwise. He saves people, takes responsibility, and quietly shoulders burdens, even if he’d rather not admit it. That contrast gives him depth and adds heart to the story.
While the plot revolves around Cale, the side characters are just as interesting. Each has their own goals, struggles, and growth, and their relationships with Cale feel natural. You end up caring about them as much as you do about the main character, which makes the story feel richer and more complete.
One of the aspects I really appreciate is the absence of romance or harem tropes. Instead, the story focuses on trust, loyalty, and meaningful friendships, making the character dynamics feel more sincere and grounded.
The writing isn’t perfect—it can be a little uneven or awkward in places. But overall, it’s a rewarding, slow-paced, character-driven fantasy with a refreshingly different protagonist. Definitely worth checking out if that’s your kind of story.

The female characters
As usual, this post might have SPOILERS about the first volume of TCF so if you don't want to see this, please don't continue. Thanks!
___
There's this problem I've noticed as a reader of several novels. It's the reason why I skipped or dropped a lot of novels that disappointed me despite their good plot.
The female characters are either barely in the story, they suck, or turned into a harem member.
Most authors don't know how to write women unless they're the same gender. And while I have no problems with male characters, it's sad that if you see a movie, anime, manga, or novel, the results are either of the three mentioned above☝️.
But TCF managed to surprise me yet again.
Like I said in my previous post,
I did not have high expectations for this novel when I first started reading it. I just wanted to read something because I was bored.
So imagine my surprise when a lot of female characters started appearing everywhere in this novel. While some have minor roles like Amiru, Violan, and Lily, most of them are relevant to the plot. Something that is lacking in most novels. They're not one-dimensional characters but are instead given depth by the author.
Violan and Lily
Violan and Lily, who barely show up in the story because we're focused on Cale's point of view, have their own backstories and goals. Their roles are simple but it's enough that you'll be able to remember their names unlike those characters that are easily forgettable.
You'll be able to remember that Violan loves art and wants to help her husband and family as a wife, mother, and countess. She's very intelligent and even appears to be in equal footing with her husband. She's just as important as Deruth in their territory. If you remember how she appeared when Clopeh attacked them, you can see that despite her worry and anger for Cale's poor state, she appeared calm and was willing to stand by his side despite the danger she faces.
Lily on the other hand wants to be a swordsman to help her brothers protect their territory. I find her small interactions with Cale so adorable because of how much Cale respects her and her dream. She is brave and hard-working, unwilling to stay behind while her brothers do everything. She even grew stronger later in the novel. The fact that she was raised to be confident about her skills and herself is a good sign that Deruth and Violan did not care about gender roles and I just find this awesome.
Witira
Another example is the manhwa.
Let me first mention that I don't read the manhwa. I like it but I prefer the novel. I feel like their thoughts and opinions aren't always shown properly compared to when you read the novel.
But when I first saw Witira illustrated in the manhwa, my first thought was "she looks strong". The fact that I noticed how strong she is just by how she exudes confidence and power amazed me. Her personality is already obvious just by how she talks and moves.
In the novel, Cale likens himself to a shrimp while standing next to them, Raon, and Toonka. He knows that he's the weakest in the group and was quick to hide when Toonka jumped into a fight with Witira. He also thought that Toonka is stupid for trying to fight with Witira.
But what I appreciate about Witira is her care for her brother. She was so ready to interrogate Cale about Paseton and her brother had to calm her to calm down.
Before I wax poetry about how cool Witira is, here is the summary of the women that made an impact in the story.
There's Rosalyn who left her position as a princess to be a powerful mage. There's Mary, an innocent necromancer with a tragic background and Tasha who is a dark elf that wants to support her nephew despite the disgust and fear aimed at their race.
The others, while not often seen, are just as important because of their connection to other characters. Cage wants to be excommunicated and protect Taylor (something she failed to do in the original story) and is connected to the God of Death. Litana is a queen who wants to protect her Jungle from Adin and Arm. And Jopis wants her family and kingdom back from Elisneh.
There's also Cotton but to be honest, she's the one of the few female characters that I barely know about aside from her actions in Endable and connection to the God of War. I'm wondering if she'll show up more in the second volume.
Mary
She's a quiet character but she's my favorite among all the characters. When she first appeared in the novel, she didn't have much presence. It was only when she was brought above the City of Death/Life that she became more than a pitiful necromancer who was hated and feared just because she wanted to survive, like her parents wanted her to do before they died.
She may look naive at first because she spent most of her life in the underground city, but she later proves how powerful and kind she is.
Instead of hating the world that hated her, she moved past that and just wanted to protect the people she sees as her family and friends. Her backstory is sad but it didn't stop her from seeking happiness even if she became a necromancer.
She's one of the strongest characters in my eyes and I'm happy to see her slowly gain confidence in herself.
Hannah and Elisneh
But out of all the women, Hannah and Elisneh are the ones who surprised me the most.
Hannah was originally an antagonist. She fought against Cale and his group before she was betrayed by Arm. And she was about to die if Cale, Litana, Cage, and Mary did not save her. Instead of completely changing her character, she still remains bloodthirsty but has a softer side because of her brother and Cale.
She develops in a way that I did not expect. I actually thought she would be another Redika because of her obsession with blood and would later die as an extra character but she proved me wrong. She instead fights Arm with her brother and the group. I believe she's as strong as Rosalyn but I don't remember (I have to re-read the novel).
She doesn't care about the scars left on her by the dead mana and keeps it as a reminder of the betrayal she and her twin faced, proving she doesn't care how people who fear dead mana look at her.
Elisneh on the other hand, remains an antagonist against Jopis. She was originally supposed to "save" the Jungle but judging on how her kingdom turned out (like a storage for dead mana and stuck in an illusion), I can make a guess that she would've done the same with the Jungle had Cale not helped Litana before.
She's an antagonist that left a deep impression on me because of how static she is as a character. She remains focused on her greed and thirst for power and it's nice to see that not all antagonists in the story are turned into allies or kind people. She's strong enough that it took a whole group to defeat her.
On
And last but not the least is On.
She is not as vocal as Hong and Raon but she is the most mature out of all the kids. She is very sharp and knows what Cale thinks of himself and the people around him. She didn't initially trust Cale and I like that. She notices how stupid Cale can be at times and seems exasperated by him. She can still be childish just like her siblings from time to time but her determination to become stronger against the Fog Cat Tribe and Arm shows how much she and Hong had faced before arriving in the Henituse territory.
I understand some readers don't like the involvement of children in TCF because it's bad for the kids to be in war against a strong organization. BUT readers forget that this is a different world with different ways of thinking. These kids are from the Fog Cat Tribe, beastmen who can fight and are prepared for it. They have abilities that normal humans don't and they need to train those abilities if they want to survive in a world full of strong people and wars.
Her being involved in battles makes her feel proud of how strong she became, something she didn't feel when she was in her tribe. Because she's a mutant, her tribe made her feel bad about herself and was ready to kill her and Hong. She needs encouragement and praises that they're not useless or weak. She doesn't need to be coddled and she knows this.
She's smart enough to know that she and her siblings will only be safe with Cale and his group. Even in the war, their only involvement was spreading a poisonous fog so they could hide their presence from the enemy and Cale could hide his ancient powers from the greedy nobles. Aside from that, they weren't fighting in the war. They entered, used their abilities, and left.
Their tribe is good at being stealthy and it's why Ron wants to train these kids. They're good as potential assassins if they want to become one.
I might make a different post about the kids but this is all I have to say about On for now.
Respect
Another reason why I love this novel is because Cale treats these people with respect, regardless of their race, history, and gender.
He doesn't stop them from becoming stronger and instead encourages them to be what they want to be. He respects their failures and strengths. He doesn't coddle them nor does he find them weaker because they're women.
That's why I respect the author. Instead of writing them as side characters existing to make men stronger, the author made me feel amazed at all these strong women, regardless if they're normal or a fighter.
___
I can write more about these characters like Rosalyn and Tasha but I'll just end it here because I might just summarize the whole novel at this point 😅

Superman Rapes the DC Universe
by archonoftheuniverse Exactly what that title and all those tags say, you've been warned. Earth -1000000 Everything is going amazing in Clark Kent's life, as he's about to marry the love of his life and has just discovered that he has a cousin who survived Krypton's destruction. Unfortunately, the misanthropic villainess Pamela Isley thinks that she has the right to have Superman as her slave in order to "save" the planet, so she decides to kidnap him in order to brainwash him by making him so attracted to her that he cannot disobey her. Despite her best efforts, all she manages to do is turn him into a twisted, immoral version of himself that's so attracted to her that he cannot resist the urge to rape her. Normally, Clark Kent would be easily able to fight those dark impulses, but in the dark multiverse everything that can go wrong will go wrong. What will happen to the world now that Superman has decided that maybe his power gives him the right to use and abuse women? This will be a story where Clark Kent gets a massive rape harem. It will be smut with little plot, multiple changes in the lore, and a really evil Superman as our "hero". Last warning: this is obviously a fucked-up story, proceed at your own risk. Words: 8411, Chapters: 1/?, Language: English Fandoms: DCU, DCU (Comics), Superman - All Media Types, Superman (Comics) Rating: Explicit Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Rape/Non-Con, Underage Sex Categories: F/F, F/M, Multi, Other Characters: Clark Kent, Pamela Isley, Lois Lane, Mera (DCU), Jessica Cruz, Zatanna Zatara, Kara Zor-El, Grail (DCU), Circe (Wonder Woman), Barbara Minerva, Donna Troy, Doris Zeul, Veronica Cale, Hippolyta (Wonder Woman), Diana (Wonder Woman), Talia al Ghul, Selina Kyle, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, Helena Bertinelli, Helena Wayne, Kate Kane (DCU), Harleen Quinzel, Dinah Lance, Big Barda (DCU), Lana Lang, Cat Grant, Barbara Gordon Relationships: Clark Kent/Harem, Pamela Isley/Clark Kent, Clark Kent/Lois Lane, Clark Kent/Mera, Clark Kent/Jessica Cruz, Clark Kent/Zatanna Zatara, Clark Kent/Kara Zor-El, Clark Kent/Grail, Clark Kent/Circe, Clark Kent/Barbara Minerva, Clark Kent/Donna Troy, Clark Kent/Doris Zeul, Clark Kent/Veronica Cale, Hippolyta (Wonder Woman)/Clark Kent, Diana (Wonder Woman)/Clark Kent, Talia al Ghul/Clark Kent, Clark Kent/Selina Kyle, Clark Kent/Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown/Clark Kent, Helena Bertinelli/Clark Kent, Clark Kent/Helena Wayne, Clark Kent/Kate Kane, Clark Kent/Harleen Quinzel, Clark Kent/Dinah Lance, Big Barda/Clark Kent, Clark Kent/Lana Lang, Cat Grant/Clark Kent, Barbara Gordon/Clark Kent Additional Tags: Out of Character, Alternate Universe - Dark, Alternate Universe - Harem, Rape, Underage Rape/Non-con, Forced Pregnancy, Forced Orgasm, Forced Marriage, Lactation, Violent Sex, Sadism, Misogyny, Emotional/Psychological Abuse, Trauma, Shameless Smut via https://ift.tt/9arjeT8

different anon lol
Lowkey I agree with both of you. Bc I totally think timeliness can affect characterization so making a distinction can be important and "original" has been used interchangeably for both regression and transmigration but I also get why anon wants to separate those terms for lcf purposes bc within the lcf fandom there seems to be a weird amount of peeps who confuse og Cale with krs Cale and seem to think they're the same dude? Not everyone, obviously, but it's a common enough thing that I've seen it happen a few times. So being specific in the wording with og when referring to transmigration vs tboah when referring to timelines might help?
Which as you both pointed out is totally moot for the purposes of this poll lol bc og albecale fics definitely do both tboah Al and lcf Al so for the shippers, it seems to be functionally the same ship regardless of what timeline
In any case, I saw that you opened it up to recommended fanworks depicting rarepairs and since I'm here talking about these losers anyway, I would personally (what we lose in the fire) by AKingsAffection and an unfortunate change in genre by abralhugres are The og albecale works to read
(separate tangent but now I want to read a fix that has "both" Alberu's there LOL give og Cale an Al harem lolol)
Oh, yeah, that's fair. Honestly, I'm allergic to interacting with fandom too much, so I really don't mind changing things for clarity & what not - I will defer to y'all. I just hadn't ever seen the implication that "original" inherently implied the character was transmigrated (in my mind, we were having a scholarly discussion, btw)
Both fanfics have been added to the submissions post! Thank you!
