Omg hi ok Um 49 on the fluff list with either Sunghoon or Jay… up to you babe😙
fluff, college!au | g/n reader x jay | prompt: “they’re such an idiot. my idiot, but still.”
Tumblr media
“Whoever invented geography should be thrown in prison,” you frowned, tossing your pencil down before resting your forehead in the middle of your textbook. Your boyfriend chuckled beside you at your expense.
Jake, who sat across from him, shook his head, “It’s a little late to throw Eratosthenes in jail considering he died over, like, two thousand years ago, _______.”
You lifted your head up just enough to shoot him a glare before propping your chin up on your hand, “Whatever, my brain wasn’t built to memorize the locations of every city, state, or country.”
“You know our exam is only on Asia next week, right?” Jake asked with a quirked brow, “I don’t know why you’re looking at the map of France.”
You sighed in defeat, looking to your boyfriend for support, “Jay, I’m never going to pass this exam, am I?”
He reached out and comfortingly patted your head, making your heart thump.
“I hope so,” he said before picking up a paper from his study guide and reading, “But it depends, can you tell me the capital of . . . Indonesia?”
“New Delhi?” you earnestly guessed, making Jake shake his head again and hide his grin behind his hand. Your hopeful smile fell.
“That’s India,” Jay sadly declared, “I have to admit, ________, darling, with all due respect, you’re such an idiot when it comes to geography. My idiot, but still.”
You tilted your head and narrowed your eyes at him before turning the same gesture towards Jake who was now laughing, “This is funny to you?”
Jake couldn’t answer through the fit of laughter he was trying to hold in since the three of you were in the middle of the library.
“Almost as funny as your final art project last semester?”
The smile on his cheeks instantly faltered, but a snort was let out from your boyfriend as he recalled his best friend’s sad attempt at a recreation of Van Gogh’s Starry Night made out of magazine clippings glued to a poster board. He had stayed up until three a.m. making the project the night before it was due, and it was painfully obvious. He had put in so much time and work only to get a D and a lecture from his professor about procrastinating.
“Yeah, I didn’t think so.”

Guess Who's Calling
>>>Read on AO3<<<
Rating: M Prompt: Phone sex College Eren eating Gothkasa out. That's it.
Yup, just more cope from my side. More leaks are coming, making me even more anxious, so here I am writing smut to make me forget for a short while.
Mikasa should probably spend the evening studying. When Eren asked her to come to his dorm, saying that Armin was visiting his grandpa, she should have said no, said that she’s busy. But she didn’t.
So, instead of doing her best to cram the economics lessons inside her brain, she was procrastinating. Again. Eren was a bad influence on her. Sure, the sports scholarship she got thanks to the facts that Mikasa was literally unbeatable in kickbox was nice but studying was important.
Then again, lying on a couch and cradling her boyfriends head on her chest was important too. He was sprawled on top of her, so warm that it made her skin tingle. She was dragging her fingers through his hair, frowning when some of the strands got caught on the multitude of her rings. Being goth did bring some dangers into a relationship, but Mikasa was not about to change. Eren didn’t seem to mind, as having his hair violated was a small price to pay for resting on such a comfortable pillow that was Mikasa’s incredible body.
The phone rang, invading the nice moment she was sharing with her boyfriend. Boyfriend. Booooooyfriend. Boy. Friend. Boyfriend. Her boyfriend. Boyfriend, that belonged to her.
It still felt weird on the tongue, even after a year of them being together.
“I’ll get it.”, Eren said, pushing himself away from the nice pillow that her chest was and rolling from the couch.
He crashlanded with a faked scream, making Mikasa giggle and hide her face. Dork. He was a dork. Scrambling up from his terrible fall, Eren walked over to where her phone was, grabbing it and making his way back. Close to her, he attacked, once again tackling her form and sending Mikasa into another giggling fit while she did her feeble attempts at fighting him off.
“E-Eren! The call?”
With a flourish, he handed the phone over.
“Your lovely brother is calling. Please don’t tell him that I’m in this close physical vicinity to you, I don’t want him to kill me before my finals.”
The phone rang again. She took it, looking at the screen and confirming that it was indeed Levi calling. But before she could answer, the sound of a zipper entered her ears, making her look down.
Eren was busy with unzipping her skirt and stealing it away from her hips, leaving Mikasa’s lower half in nothing but her underwear. That done, he busied himself with pushing her black top up until her stomach was in full view, even going as far as exposing her small breasts. A year back, her mind would explode from seeing it and she would immediately put the guy who dared to do this to her in a hospital. But with Eren, who broke so many of her barriers already, this wasn’t the first time and probably very far from the last. Still, she was just about to speak with Levi, so his actions deserved to be called into question.
“What are you doing?”
“A game..”, his mouth ghosted over her abs, “Stay on the call, if you hang up, I’ll stop.”
And he dipped down, truly putting his tongue to work. He flattened it against her heated skin, licking Mikasa’s stomach, collecting the tiny beads of sweat. With the tip, he traced those incredible abdominal muscles. Her heart in the throat, yet excited nonetheless, Mikasa answered the call.
“Levi? H-hi.”
“What the hell took you so long?”, he fumed, “We need to talk.”
“Wha- Ow!”
Levi frowned at the other end.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing…”, with a quick gesture she flipped off Eren, who was just tongue-soothing the savage bite he planted on her left thigh, “It’s nothing.”
Those thighs, that was something to die for. Eren loved how the muscles there shifted beneath his mouth, how firm and strong and so deliciously thick they were. So delicious that he, despite her staring, sank his teeth into the right one too.
Mikasa hissed in pain, her hand reaching down to tangle in Eren’s overlong hair. Her black nails scratched against his scalp as the goth took a possessive hold of the strands. With a firm grip, she shook his head like a bad dog’s before planting it, nose first, right between her legs in an obvious gesture of: “Get on with it”
For someone so easily flustered whenever they did as much as kissed in public, Mikasa could be very demanding once turned on.
“Okay then.”, she heard Levi over the phone.
At the same time, Eren finally obeyed, pulling her panties down her long legs. In full view, he met her eyes before sniffing the underwear, making her eyes widen.
“Oh god, you’re such a pervert!”
“What’s that?”, that was Levi, and Mikasa realized that she just said it out loud.
“N-Nothing! Th-That was the tv!.”
That did not sound like tv, but Levi was willing to drop the issue.
“Whatever. Listen….”
Mikasa wanted to pay attention to what her brother was saying, but she couldn’t. Eren was now kissing her inner thighs, so close to her slit yet so far, it was making her blood boil. He was teasing, the bastard, his tongue caressing her outer lips, unwilling to give her what she craved. Tilting her hips, Mikasa made the best pleading expression she could, nudging him gently. Eren must have been feeling generous tonight, because the tip of his tongue finally slipped inside her, probing.
As was her luck, Levi picked precisely that moment to ask her something. The thing is, Mikasa had no idea what he was talking about. To make matter worse, when she opened her mouth to answer, Eren increased the tempo of his actions, making her pleasure spike. His tongue was now writhing around in her heat, lapping at the wetness caused by his actions.
“Levi I… hng I’m not sure that… mmm”
Alternating, now he was licking her in long wide strokes, flattening his tongue against her sensitive skin.
“Brat, what the hell are you doing?”
“M-Me? N-nothing, nothing at all. I… Oh god!”
His tongue brushed against her clit.
Levi’s brows pulled into a flat line as he listened to these strange moans and groans his sister kept doing over the phone.
“Listen, I don’t know what is going on, but I don’t like it. I’m hanging up now, call me when you get your brain back.”
“No! No please, don’t hang up!”
She heard Eren’s evil laugh from between her legs. To punish him for being such a bastard, Mikasa squeezed his head between her thighs, hard enough that he saw stars before she finally released him. Pulling back, he cracked his aching neck, left and right, meeting her challenging stare.
“Touché.”
And he dived back down.
“As I was saying, I need to know when your exams are finished, so I can line up the training regime for you.”, Levi repeated his question slowly, hoping that she will understand this time, “You need it before the tourney.”
“R-Right. My… Ex… mmmmm  Exammmmms.”
Eren went deep, angling his head and shoving all of his tongue inside while his mouth worked her. His jaw was beginning to ache, but he ignored it. If there was something Eren learned, it was that his usually cold and stoic girlfriend could be reduced to a quivering mess with the right approach, and some pain was totally worth it. Eager to taste her, he licked inside, rapidly darting his tongue left and right, everywhere that he could reach. He was moving his head too, shaking it, anything to stimulate that wonderful place between her legs. Mikasa’s hips arched from the bed and she slapped a hand over her mouth to keep the loud moan in. Still, some of it escaped.
“What did you say?”
“I said I’m… aaah I’mmmm..”, she couldn’t do it, so angling her head away from the phone, Mikasa panted for air.
Down below, Eren withdrew from her and immediately attacked her clit, sucking on the firm nub.
“Hey! Mikasa! Hey!”, Levi’s voice was loud enough for Eren to hear.
Knowing that if he hangs up the fun will be over, Mikasa forced herself to press the phone against her ear.
“I’m… I’m here.”
“Are you okay? What’s happening?”
“All’s fine! Great!”
“You don’t sound like it.”, Levi said, “Are you sick?”
With a pop, Eren released her abused clit, wetting two of his fingers in his mouth. He met her gaze, grey eyes with their pupils blown, gave her a wink and went back to work. Pressing his digits into her tight heat, he glided along the silky walls searching for that one place that made Mikasa go crazy. She could feel it inside her, feel his exploring hand, the fear that she won’t be able to keep quiet rising at the same rate as her pleasure.
“N-No not sick. I’m…”, a way out, she needed a way out, otherwise Levi might start suspecting something. With her mind basically blank, Mikasa blurted out the first thing that appeared there.
“I’m drunk!”
“You’re drunk?”
“Yes, I’m…oof,” Eren’s fingers moved, curving upwards, “Drunk and…”
He found it. With a gentle press of the fingertips, Mikasa’s vision went white as her body clenched and she moaned out loud, not fast enough to mute herself.
“Damn it brat. You’re underage.”
“I’m sorry!“, she squeaked out before quickly muting herself on the call properly and moaning again, so loud.
At home, Levi massaged his temples, staring at the phone. So Mikasa was drunk, probably not handling it very well judging from the sound she was making. Guess that’s college for you.
“Do you need help?”
There’s silence on the other side. What Levi doesn’t know is that Mikasa is muted again because she is moaning her heart out right now. Eren turned up the dial again. His tongue was deep inside her, licking the wet walls of her cavern, while his fingers were hard at work on her clit, pressing against the magic button in deliciously short intervals.
“Mikasa! Do you need help?”
“N-No! Eren will come and aaaaaah…”, unable to continue, she tilted her head away.
“Eren huh? That guy…”
That guy who was now at the finish line of teasing the orgasm out of his little sister. Not that Levi knew that. Mikasa’s chest was heaving, her thighs clenching around Eren head but he ignored the flares of pain it sent into his system. Mikasa could squeeze hard, and there were times when he was forced to stop in the past, otherwise his neck was at risk.
Not now. Now he was determined to make Mikasa come, and nothing would stop him. He practically abused her clit, rolling his thumb against it while he ate her out without holding back. The rougher treatment seemed to be just her thing, and the goth was losing her mind at an alarming rate. It was noisy and dirty, but he couldn’t care less. Sharp thrusts of his tongue, deep inside her and she was writhing around on the couch, phone forgotten in her hand. Until Levi spoke again.
“All right, I’ll trust Eren then. Call me when you get better, okay?”
“Yip!”
And then the phone was gone, Mikasa let it fall onto the carpet as the orgasm truly overtook her. She screamed, her face contorting in pure pleasure while all the impressive muscles in her body contracted before releasing. Outside, Eren had already positioned his hands tactically, doing his best to keep her thighs from crushing his skull. It helped a little, but not too much, as he had no chance of overpowering Mikasa’s legs. Inside, Eren’s tongue was being squeezed too, the feeling borderline painful. He groaned at that, making the wet muscle still deep in her vibrate and Mikasa was thrown headfirst into the stream of happy hormones. The electricity tickled her brain in the best of ways, her hips moving against his tongue, practically riding Eren’s face. She was contracting again, more waves and Eren felt her pulsate inside. At the moment when her muscles were relaxed, he quickly withdrew his tongue to save it but wouldn’t let her be yet. Changing it into wide licks against her trembling sex, he kept pleasuring her, drawing the already amazing orgasm out even longer.
When the wave of wetness hit his face, cushioned between her thighs, Eren didn’t really have a choice in what to do. Caged in as he was and unable to move, he drank her in, collecting all of her release inside his mouth. His tongue slid around, licking every piece of her sex, dipping in to tease out as much of her essence as he could. Eren wasn’t lying when he said that he enjoys how Mikasa tastes, no matter how much it made her blush. And when there was nothing more, when her orgasm was truly finished and her legs released him from their crushing embrace, he kissed his way up until he was looking down at her red face.
“Wanna taste yourself?”, he asked, a question that would make her slap him if she didn’t just come back from cloud nine.
Instead of answering, Mikasa pulled him in for the kiss, tasting herself everywhere. In Eren’s mouth, on his tongue and face, every nook and cranny was filled by her. Getting a proper taste of herself, of her release, she pulled back but didn’t let go, keeping their foreheads pressed together.
“I love you.”, she confessed, her feelings all jittery thanks to the overdose her brain was currently recovering from.
Eren chuckled, thumbing away the few tears that leaked from Mikasa’s eyes during this whole ordeal. They were smearing the goth’s dark eye shadow, but she was very far from minding having her makeup ruined.
“Hey, I love you too. Wanna know why?”
She smiled at him, all warm and fuzzy and happy. It went straight against her style, but Mikasa was too far gone to care.
“Why?”
There were a hundred and one reasons why, but Eren wasn’t about to list these. Instead, he had a new one in mind.
“First of all, you let me eat you out while calling Levi, and that was quite an experience.”
She slapped his shoulder, but it lacked the usual strength, and Eren continued uninterrupted.
“And second, because you keep me grounded.”
She was counting the hairs that fell over his wet face.
“What do you mean?”
“There are days when I wake up feeling like I want to destroy the whole world, but then I turn around, see you and…”, his hands slid low, groping her firm butt, “I’m like, nah, I’ll settle on destroying this ass instead.”
Eren ignored her half-hearted attempts at smacking his hands away, made so weak by the giggling fit Mikasa fell into.
“God, you’re….”, she pushed out,  “you’re such a dirty perv!”
“Says the woman who just came all over my face.”
She gasped, hiding her blush beneath her hands. But Eren was relentless, moving and peeling her fingers, one by one, away with his teeth. They clicked against the cool metal of Mikasa’s rings, but he didn’t let her armor dissuade him from the task at hand.
“Don’t hide from me, raven beauty.”
“Cheesy too.”, she accused him, “How the hell did we end up dating?”
“I don’t rightly know, things sort of clicked together.”, with her fingers successfully removed by Eren’s actions, they were face to face, so he was free to caress her cheek, “It is weird when you think about it.”
It was weird. It was weird that Mikasa, who never even considered dating before, fell for him so quickly. It was weird that Eren, whose only goal in life was to become a good doctor, was now spending so much time doting over her, because seeing Mikasa happy brought him incredible joy. It was weird because they fell together so quickly, letting each other into parts of their lives that nobody ever visited before.
It was weird, but neither Eren nor Mikasa were willing to question it because, for whatever reason, the stars were aligned for them. He with her and she with him, they were home.
Tilting her head, Mikasa accepted the kiss Eren offered as an explanation, her midnight lips molding into his so naturally. It was hard to believe that they weren’t made for one another, carefully crafted so they would fit together perfectly.
But you know what? Maybe they were.

Hey mom! I’m stressed at 1am, any advice? I’m having trouble in school via studying sometimes it feels like we’re going from 0 to 100. And I need better study habits, do you have any advice? Bc sometimes it feels like I’m so afraid of failure that if I do study to my full potential (sounds weird) I feel like I loose the excuse of saying oh I got a bad score bc I goofed off. Like if I actually do all my effort to study and do bad, then is there something wrong with me??
(A/N: this answer is so long I almost feel ashamed to post it. I’m very sorry everyone. Anyway, if you’re looking for the concrete tips they’re at the end :) )
Hey :)
This doesn’t sound weird at all because I’m the exact same way. This way of thinking is actually more common than you’d think, and is often a part of the cognitive profile of perfectionism (btw, perfectionism isn’t that apt a name but I digress. Also, this way of thinking doesn’t mean you’re a perfectionist.). Anyway, I know a bunch of people who’ve experienced this, and the common factor isn’t fear of failure, but rather what it is you think you’re failing at. For example, I once told my therapist that I was super stressed over a bunch of stuff and I also had a paper I had to get done, and he asked me what would happen if I didn’t turn it in on time and I was like “academically? nothing. mentally? I wouldn’t be me anymore.” And that’s the stitch.
The people I know who struggle with this are often (though not exclusively) girls, and often people who’re pretty smart. They spent their childhood being told over and over that they were gifted, intelligent, and good at school. And back then, that was easy to live up to. They danced through the first few years of school without any issue, and enjoyed it a lot. They did their homework, understood stuff, and were usually “good kids”.
Now, we’re always growing and re-shaping our sense of self, but the foundations are lain when we’re children. So, when people around you keep identifying you as a smart/good student, then we start identifying ourselves like that too. Especially if it is being reinforced by your actual achievements. And then, suddenly, getting good grades isn’t about doing well or working hard, it’s about identity. It’s about who you are at your core. Thus, the stakes become infinitely higher. If you fail at a math test that you really studied for, then that means that you don’t have what it takes, and that means you are no longer yourself- the intelligent kid who’s good at school. A test might not be that anxiety-inducing, but losing your whole sense of self is. So, in that case procastination makes a lot of sense, because as long as you don’t fail while doing your best then you never put your identity on the line.
(This also applies if failing at school has become synonymous with being a failure, i.e. if you’ve been taught that doing well academically is the only way to be a successful/useful person in society, or if academic success has merged with the idea of a happy future so it feels like failing autmatically leads to an unhappy life. Essentially, mental structures that lead to a misconception of the stakes involved in a single exam/paper/task.)
That said, I do have some more practical things to say here. First off, sometimes we’re in a situation where we can’t do our best and that’s okay. I’ve failed exams, tests, papers, you name it and I still have my degree in the end. It’s never the end all of things.
Now, my own biggest freak out like this came when I started uni. My first paper I went completely insane and procrastinated like crazy, and I failed. And then the though crept in “what if I can’t do this? What if this is it. I can’t handle higher education, even if I try my hardest?” The anxiety was... big bad and mad.
I should say for this next part that my therapist once told me that I have a strangely aggressive approach to handling anxiety. Moving on. I sat down and said to myself “what is worse, to try my hardest and fail or half-ass it and never be able to live the life I want?” Since the answer was pretty obvious, I got to it. I had about 5 weeks until the next exam, and I sat down and planned every single hour until then. I studied for that damn test like I’ve never studied before, and whenever I felt anxious I would tell it to FUCK OFF and focus on the task I had planned. I didn’t allow myself to think beyond that first planning session, I just did what was next on the agenda. What am I supposed to do right now? read these 10 pages? Ok.
I’ve had two exams during my studies where I failed (the second due to the situation I was in) and ended up in this spiral. And here’s the funny thing: I have a small number of courses in uni where I got a higher grade. They include 1) courses that I found extremly interesting and 2) those two courses.
Okay! I know this is already so fucking long but I want to give you some actual tips too. Number one is obviously to plan. Take a whole day, sit down and plan the next month. Consider all your assignments, when they’re due, what you need to do to study, how long that’ll take and when that is done most efficiently. Plan everything in your calendar. Give yourself enough time for each task that you can do it even if you’re not super super focused. Do not study outside these hours. When you’re done for the day you’re done for the day. This way, there’s a clear, reachable end to each study session and you don’t feel as compelled to postpone tasks. When you sit down to study, don’t worry about the other stuff you have to do, or other subjects that you haven’t done yet. They’re all in the plan, all you have to do is what is in front of you. As long as you keep doing that you’ll make it. (If the plan goes to shit for some reason, take a day to plan a make a new one. It happens).
Some things to consider:
Different subjects are best studied in different ways. I used to set aside 15-30 minutes every day in high school for Italian, where I’d sit down and read the chapter we were working on out loud. I didn’t even focus that hard, I just did it every day- the chapter and the glossary. I STILL remember some sentences from that book. Math is best done in longer stretches, but not too long. 1-2 hours preferably. Think about how YOU work. Do you best read a textbook in one go or in increments? Do you learn better in a coffee-shop or your room? Silence? Music? This can also change depending on your subject. Plan accordingly.
For reading, time your reading speed for the book. Read a page at normal speed and clock it, then multiply that by the pages you need to read to see how much time you’ll have to plan for. Round up to give yourself room for spacing out.
Plan for breaks. Think about your normal need for it, but the uni standard is 15 minutes for every 45, making an even hour. Find a break activity that’s has a specific end, for example making some more tea/coffee and snacks and doing some stretches, or maybe playing one race in mario kart. Avoid things that you can get stuck doing beyond the alotted break time.
Buffers. For every five hours or so, plan one hour of buffer time. This is time that you can use if something takes longer than expected. If you do everything as planned, this is surprise free time! :D If you have a long study session, plan 30 minute buffers every two or three hours to be used for extra breaks and to keep panic at bay. Buffers will save your life.
Make a chart with different tasks and have little boxes that you get to fill in with fun colours when you’re done. If you have to read 100 pages, do a bar with ten boxes, that way you can see your progress visually.
Plan for days/evenings that are free. Plan what you’re going to do those days, like “movie night with X”, “play videogames and eat cupcakes”, “take a long bath and read a good book”. That way, you use your free time well and can use those days and evenings as incentive.
Prioritize your work. If you have too much to do, make a list of what’s most to least important and focus on doing the important stuff first. This includes studying tasks. What’s more important, reading that text for the third time or really understanding integrals?
Drink lots of water and eat sugar. It’s brain food. I usually bake before an intense week. That way when I feel myself going down I can go get a cupcake instead of taking time to make something to eat, or worse- try to soldier through which never works.
I hope this helped a little at least :) Good Luck! I believe in you! 💙💜

I had the softest dream last night and had to write it so here it is.
[14:55] You were glad to finally have such a lazy day away from the harsh schedules and rigorous exam prep. You had been studying more than enough for the past month (choosing not to procrastinate and divide your studies over a long period because there was way too much to learn!) and you had arrived at the point where you could recite the periodic table with your eyes closed. Your professor decided to give your entire class a break when he saw how much hard work you had all been putting into his ‘mini’ assignments.
So here you were, spending your day off in the dorms. There was nothing more you loved than to just have a day of winding down with the person you loved. You were the little spoon, cuddling with your boyfriend Yangyang.
The two of you weren’t in the mood to watch Netflix since he had also recently finished preparing for his online concert, so you just decided to chill with each other in his bed.
His hand was ruffling through your hair, occasionally picking out a strand and untangling it carefully so he wouldn’t hurt you, and you were humming a melody from time to time to let him know you were awake. He’d make sure to always join right in if he knew the song.
His other hand was resting around your waist, fingers playing with the loose hem of your (his) shirt.
“Isn’t this the one that I thought was missing like a week ago?” Yangyang asked, a small chuckle bubbling to the surface when he realized that it was indeed his shirt. His voice was a little raspy from not speaking for a while and you found yourself liking the rawness in his voice.
“What do you mean your shirt?” You teased back. His shirts were the most comfortable outfits in your opinion and you were more than happy to steal them when he wasn’t looking. Sure, they were a little oversized on you, but they never failed to give you the feeling of Yangyang hugging you.
This was especially true whenever you were away from him for a long time. He had memorized your schedule almost instantly after you showed it to him and if you ever had to go somewhere, he’d sneak some small memorabilia (that wasn’t too obvious to his fans) into your luggage so you could have a part of him wherever you went.
Being the humorous couple that you were, you couldn’t help but to take a picture of the object in the most famous location you’d go to. Last time, you’d brought his small teddy bear to the oldest, local pizzeria in town for a date and he’d complained for a whole month about his inability to take you on fancy dates in public. Later, he made it up by taking you to Lotte World and buying you the cutest plushy he could find.
Back to the present, all you could do was enjoy the comfort of his presence beside you. No amount of fancy wining and dining could replace the feeling of him simply being with you, enjoying the small moments.
His hands had ceased their motions and you turned around to see what was wrong. “Yangyang, you good?”
“Hm, just thinking.” That was something he did a lot.
He thought a lot and it had taken a while for him to open up to you, but you were ready for him to reveal his concerns or feelings anytime. You were here for him and you made sure he knew it.
“About what?”
“About how lucky I am to have you.” His dark brown eyes were scanning yours, unsure of what to say next. He wasn’t giggling or crinkling his eyes in that cute way he did whenever he would joke around with the other members so you could tell he was being completely honest. “You know how my favorite flower is a rose, right?”
You nodded. That was the first thing you’d learned about him. In fact, the way he’d asked you out was by hiding a rose in your bag with a beautifully decorated envelope (which you later learned that Ten had helped him with). “Yeah, I do.”
“Well, I think you’re the rose of my life. Like, the moment I first saw you, I knew that you’d be the one for me and I still think that. You are literally the strongest person I’ve ever known. I know you’ve been going through a tough time with finals coming, but I know you can do it. I notice the way you study late at night, and I wish I could be there for you more. But you’re a fighter and you got this. I know you’ll ace everything and when you do, I’ll take you out to a nice place for a treat. You’re my hardworking girl and deserve it.”
You almost teared up at his words. You hadn’t thought that he would notice your late night sessions or the way you’d frustratedly slam your laptop when you couldn’t take the straining light of the screen anymore. Despite being goofy in front of the camera, he truly was the most wonderful, observant guy you had ever met.
Feeling confident, you did the first thing that came to your mind and lifted yourself up to press your lips to his. His hands were already wound in your hair so he used a little strength pulled you on top of him. He set the pace for the kiss and chose to go slow. You both had the rest of today, so he was in no hurry.
After a couple of seconds, you pulled up for air and pressed your forehead against his. “Thank you for being there for me. Even when you’re not physically with me all the time, you still give me courage. I see the way you practice the choreographies over and over again until you perfect them. Yangyang, you’re the most inspiring one in this relationship and you give me the strength to be the best person I can be. I hope that we can both continue to grow together just like this.”
This time, his eyes were twinkling with delight. “Oh my god, I’m so whipped for you. I love you.”
You laughed at his choice of language and booped your nose with his. “I love you too, always.”

Can I get a Marauders ship? I’m 5’6, have short brown hair that I dye A LOT. I have black eyes and I’m SUPER pale. I’m a Slytherin and I’m really sarcastic and I LOVE to read. I’ll be listening to rock music one minute, and classical the next. I also (kinda) have an obsession with chocolate (it’s so good!) and I feel like my favourite class in Hogwarts would be potions... I hope I didn’t mess this up...
Tumblr media
I ship you with...
Remus Lupin!
This one was almost too obvious for me
You offically met in the thrid year, you knew whi he was, with friends like his, everyone did.
You met through a mutual friend in a study group that she had convinced you to go to. You werent big on meeting a whole bunch of new people at once but she managed to convince you
So you were shoved into a group of people you didnt really know as your friend suddenly had to leave for quidditch practice, something you thought she would have warned you about
So you sat quietly doing your work feeling like everyone around you was judging you the whole time
Remus who happened to be sitting next to you boticed you nervousness and broke off a peice of the chocolate he was eating tapping you in the shoulder and offering it to you
You had taken it and thanked him. The young boy started up a light conversation with you and you were happy to follow along
He was really easy to talk to, not to mention he was a genius when it came to classes you were lost on
You went back to your common room smiling, not even mad about being ditched anymore
You got together again before a big Potions exam and then before Transfiguration tests and O.W.Ls and by the next year it was a routine
You each brought different chocolate and often ended up swapping or sharing.
James and Sirius were desperate to join your study group before an astronomy test, something neither of them paused any attention in
Remus had told them absolutely not but they came anyway and basically just embarrassed the poor boy the whole time
The first words out of James mouth were, "Oh, you're the pretty girl that Moony always talks about!"
You both blushed heavily and Sirius took it and ran, "Yeah he can never shut up about how cute and smart you are, it's almost annyoning"
They both were kick harsly in the shins as you burried your burning face into a textbook
Remus awkwardly apologized afterwards and you just brushed it off, pretending the words ment nothing to you
James and Sirius werent allowed at any study sessions anymore
You tried not to take the boys words to heart but part of you wondered if he actually did talk about you
He most certainly did.
You showed him new music a lot, your tastes changed at the drop of a hat and Remus was happy to listen to whatever you were into at the moment
As you got older, things got more and more awkward. Pent up and blocked emotions ment you were constantly blushing and Remus was falling over words
Finally Remus asked you to Hogsmeade in your fifth year and you were ecstatic
You liked more chill dates, weather it was laying in his common room reading a book as he played with your hair or listening to music in your dorm
When you confronted Remus on where he went once a month, he panicked not wanting to lie to you or tell you where he really went
He did end up telling you and you explained to him that you didnt care in the slightest that he was a werewolf
Remus was good with your occasional mood swings, he knew that sometimes you said things you didnt mean or broke down with out much if an explanation
He was there to cheer you up or calm you down every time
(Not edited) ~ I am so so sorry this took forever! Btw you didnt mess anything up, you're all good (:
Also ships are currently CLOSED please dont send me any, I am simply answering old ones from like two months ago that I procrastinated on.

QnA tag game
I was tagged by @hyba to play this. Thank you very much.
rules: post your answers, and tag some pals.
1. When did you first learn you enjoyed writing?
Honestly, I used to hate writing. It wasn’t fun, it was boring school essays and annoying prompts on exams. That being said, I had always enjoyed storytelling, and had been telling stories since before I could remember.
How I reconciled that gap between the written and the spoken was I went through a really shitty period of time in my life and I took up poetry to help vent. And it was so freeing and fun that I kept with it.
I had been doing that for a while when I decided to try writing some fantasy story that popped into my head, though I can’t quite recall why I bothered to try. It wasn’t a very good story, but I filled up like an entire notebook with it and started writing it on another, and I discovered ‘hey, writing can be fun... if it isn’t about something boring.’
And over the years, fantasy has over taken poetry. I still write poems from time to time, but not like I used to.
2. Tell us about the first project you ever wrote.
It was one that tried cramming way too much into one story, but there’s elements of it that I still use a lot of. I can’t remember the exact plot I had in mind for it, because it was all over the place, but I remember there being some sci-fi, a lot of fantasy weirdness, and a chosen one who was both angry and horrified that her world ended when she had the power to save it, because no one knew what she was or that their world was in danger. It never got finished, but I had fun with it while I was working on it.
3. How does your favorite media shape who you are as a writer?
In ways I don’t even realize it did, I’m sure. Particularly since I binge read without really analyzing the writing techniques of people. My writer brain turns off and reader brain takes over. Which many people say is bad, but it works for me. That being said, I can draw some obvious parallels between things I’ve read and my own works.
I know that Tolkien was a big influence for my ‘this string pulls on this person’s string, which does that, which leads to a poor hobbit having to lose his finger to throw a cursed ring into a volcano and save the world’ kinda plots. I also enjoyed his world building, but, and this is just my opinion, it slowed the Lord of the Rings triology down a lot and made it a little clunky to read. So it taught me both what I kinda wanted to see in my world building, but also how I didn’t want it to come out in the story. Plus, The Hobbit is the book for me. It is one of the first ones I got when I finally learned ‘oh, reading can be fun’ (because child me hated reading like she also hated writing boring essays), and it’s the one that got me stuck on fantasy.
Douglas Adams, there are many who will probably consider it a crime I have not read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and yet still list his name in this, but my favorite book of all time is probably The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul, and it was the way the characters existed and the hidden easter eggs that I’m still finding like 7 read throughs later and the pacing and red herrings. I learned from and loved a lot about that book alone.
There was also J.A. Jance, the author of many of the murder mysteries my grandmother loaned me, and it was from her and other mystery authors that I finally, finally figured out how to set up suspense and tension. They were also really good studies in character motivations and how a character’s mindset can change the way they perceive the world and the things they notice and miss.
Video games is another thing I know has influenced me. I like story and lore rich games. Dungeons and Dragons is another thing I play a lot of and has followed me through my writings. The stories that get told can be every bit as awesome as a book, and the mechanics are also part of what helped me learn to structure my magic systems. Because if the wizards didn’t have rules, who would play a fighter who does? The same idea got translated into my writing very early on, ‘if I don’t give my wizards rules, why would warriors exist?’
And I can keep rambling, but I think I’ll leave it at this for now ^^
4. What’s something you’ve wanted to write, but aren’t sure you could? (A tv show, a genre, a style, a time period, a video game, etc)
I had an idea for a fantasy world inspired by various Asian myths, and even had a basic map drawn out in my head and some ideas for a magic system, but I’ve been too terrified to actually do anything with it, and it’s been so long since then that I don’t remember anything about it. Plus, I had no plot to use for it at the time.
I also wanted to write a mystery, but when I tried I found that while I has suspects and everything, I couldn’t think of the crime or how the heck anyone would just kinda figure it out from a bunch of random things normal people could just play off or not notice XD
5. What is the thing that keeps you from writing the most?
Procrastination is sometimes a problem, and I do occasionally need to kick myself in the shin. But there’s also life and plot snags and just days when a story isn’t working for me.
6. How do you deal with an inner editor?
That depends. Sometimes the inner editor saves me a lot of headaches later, and sometimes a tiny mistake can break the flow of writing. I normally don’t have an issue with fixing things on the spot, but on nights I need to focus on writing I just keep myself from reading back.
7. How long have you been writing?
I mean, they make kids write really young for school, so begrudgingly that long. Creatively and for fun? I’m not sure. I can’t quite recall how old I was when I started with the poetry. But considering the notebook I have the earliest pieces in is falling apart, I think it’s been a long time. lol
8. What is your general writing process? Do you write chronologically? Do you do a lot of planning?
I normally get this idea that shows up out of the blue as a daydream or a random thought. Then, there’s at least a month. If it’s still there, it gets considered. If it’s grown and expanded into something resembling either a world or a plot by then, it’s probably getting written.
After the idea finally bugs me enough, I’ll start world building and building a bare-bones plot, complete with bare-boned characters. I never flesh anything out completely, since I do most of that while I write and having strict outlines suffocates my story.
If the world building, characters, and whatever I have of a plot are interesting, I’ll start chronologically and keep moving from there.
9. Assign a scent to your writing style.
A scent for my style? Um... that’s kind of a weird question and I have no idea how I would even begin to think of an answer for that. Like, how do you translate comma usage and word choice into a smell? I mean, I use roses a lot in my stories, so maybe that would work?
10. One book you hope everyone reads?
I have to agree with hyba that I hope everyone just finds their version of the book. The one that gets them through a hard time, the one they really need, and that that book won’t be the same for everyone.
11. What is it about your least favorite genre that makes it your least favorite–and how might you change that to better appeal to you?
Oh that’s simple, it’s because horror does it’s job. That’s it. It’s nothing particularly about the style or anything besides that the genre is what it is.
12. Design a “collector’s edition” for your first novel. Include items that might be of interest to your audience.
Never thought about it, but I guess I could throw in the world map I drew for The Plight of a Sparrow into it.
13. If one thing was real from your project, what would you want it to be?
Nothing in particular? I can’t think of anything that would make sense to transfer from my projects to the real world, because I don’t want magic to be real, because my magic systems tend to be brutal, but also, we have stuff like or better than a lot of what doesn’t run off magic. Maybe some of the creatures would be cool, but I don’t know how that would affect ecosystems.... probably not for the better.
14. What’s something you always include in your work? Do you have any other Easter eggs?
As far as easter eggs, I can’t think of anything off the top of my head. If I do, it probably wasn’t intentional.
15. What is your favorite passage from your own work?
I still am not really comfortable with sharing things out of my WIPs on here. As far as things I’ve written for the blog itself go, there are quite a few pieces and passages that turned out really good. I think one of my favorites is from a really old piece I did back before I was doing fusion stories. It’s from this one specifically, if anyone would like to read the full tale, it is a grim one, though.
The very edge of the forest was about as welcoming as a gallows. Crows watched us hungrily, like we were dead men about to sway. None of them made so much as a peep as their dead eyes followed our trek through the knotted mess of brambles, ivy, knotted shrubs, and gnarled trees. We hacked at the plants, and they hacked right back at us. We traded blows like it was a war. hatchet and sword blows countered with sharp thorns and parried with thick branches.
I’m going to leave this an open tag, jump in if you’d like to. =D

hey! I'm also a bio student in my first year. any tips on surviving uni as a science student? 😊💕
disclaimer I am absolutely the worst person to ask for university advice but I will try my best! might be unconventional but if ur a chronic procrastinator slash don’t have motivation or know how to study slash have mental Chillness™ this could be for u! kinda general, kinda science related. enjoyyy
-Mendeley is a GODSEND. it’s a program you can download for free to your laptop and makes organizing/reading through and annotating scientific papers so much easier. plus it recommends articles relevant to ones you’re using! this could be helpful in a lot of ways but it provided me a ton of cool papers I want to read related to my interests (bc I wrote a paper on what I’m into yk)-kinda related: if you’ve found an awesome article that supports your data/argument, check the references to find more useful papers!
-you don’t always need to buy the textbook. if the professor says they won’t be testing you directly on textbook material, don’t buy it! even if it’s recommended. I mean if you gain a lot from reading then go for it, but usually it’s friggen expensive and you never end up using it (plus they usually have a couple books on hold at the library for students to use)
-do not pull all nighters. one hour of sleep is better than zero, pleaseee trust me. (source: I have pulled too many all nighters, once even two back to back! yikes! and the aftermath is always shitty)
-kinda obvious but... keep everything organized! find what works for you. personally I like to have everything scheduled on google calendar + my bujo, but also keep a sheet posted in my room with only things I have to hand in or tests in chronological order, so I know exactly what I have to do/hand in each week
-for labs- do as much prep + as much of the in lab assignment as you can beforehand! labs can get stressful and time flies quickly
-you’re not gonna remember anything you think you will so write that shit down bruv
-did you procrastinate too much and now you have to watch a 45 minute video before your class that starts in half an hour?? don’t fear, just put your playback speed to 1.5x or up B)
-go to lecture bro. even if you aren’t able to focus or take notes, at the very least you’ll have some sort of idea of what was talked about and things to focus on or not
-when picking courses- try to find the most recent syllabi. sometimes the department website will post them, other times you can try googling the course name and it’ll come up. this is super helpful bc it gives you an actual insight into the content and marking scheme
-chronic procrastination gang: GO SOMEWHERE TO STUDY. I cannot study or get anything done in my room literally at all, so find 3-5 solid spots on campus (or wherever) you’re able to be productive, and cycle thru them during the week.
-if you’re scared to ask ur prof questions (like me!) ask your TA during lab/tutorial- usually they’re way less intimidating and usually are a student who took the course fairly recently, so they can give u legit advice
-if you’re having a shitty day, blast music while walking thru campus and pretend you’re in a movie (recommendations: the less I know the better by tame impala, remember when by wallows, myth by beach house)
-listening in on questions ppl ask in lab and exams is actually so helpful dsfshdfjfksd
-you don’t have to start the assignment right away, but it’s always a good idea to at least look over the guidelines so you know what you have to do.
-research experience can be pretty important but also intimidating and stressful. I always wanted to get involved but never knew how! I wish someone told me straight up what to do when I was in first year so: a. go to the bio (or whichever) department website for your university and search through the professor listings. usually it’ll include a blurb about what their research focuses on, if they have a lab with the university.b. find a lab you’re interested in, read a bit about it, and send a professional-ish, friendly email telling them you’re interested in getting involved in the lab! include things that stood out to you too. and you don’t need experience either, just let them know you’re enthusiastic and eager to learn, or any other relevant stuff.
I hope this was kinda helpful? feel free to message me or send more asks if you want anymore /bad/ advice :)

Pls explain more abt the ancient history thing b I’m very interested
Hello anon!
I know this was sent in months ago and I should have replied to it then but I’m a master procrastinator and life has been strange (before coronavirus kicked off I was in the middle of preparing for exams). Anyway, I’m happy to answer this.
I made a post in the distant past, basically saying that I think there is a view that history before 1800 is somehow less intellectual and that this is rooted in sexism. That post is here. Allow me to explain and please bare in mind that this is all just my opinion and is based off my experiences.
Apologies for the length.
Firstly, I love history. I’m a complete geek for it. I think it’s important, interesting and with a bit of luck I’ll be studying it at university soon. Therefore, this isn’t a post where I try to claim that actually history before 1800 is superior... because that’s just dumb. History is history and while historians can have personal preferences over which period they find most interesting, that doesn’t make that period “better” than any others. Literally. I mean, everything leading up to the present day didn’t happen in isolated, distinct boxes and all of it is useful to understanding how modern society has developed.
It makes sense that there is a general interest in “modern history”. After all, it is interesting and we have more information about it thanks to technological developments. The 20th century was a time of massive change if you compare 1900 to 2000 - although, I’m sure it’s easy for us to see the difference, seeing as the 20th century wasn’t so long ago in the grand scheme of things and many people who are alive today lived through a part of it. I’m sure people living in the early part of any century probably thought (if they had access to history) that the start and end of the previous century were hugely different. Nevertheless, I agree that the 20th century is quite profound in this respect, at least at the moment. In 100 years, who knows?
The 19th century also offers us a lot more remnants than its predecessors and I think culturally is still viewed as important. Some people have a rose tinted view of the 19th century. In Britain, I’d say it is seen by those of a certain political persuasion (check out Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg) as a time of peak Britishness(TM) and nationalistic pride... although that narrative is simplistic and disregards the suffering of the colonies and indeed the working classes of Britain, who had to prop up all this “greatness”. Anyway, I’m sure if you found a stuffy 19th century bloke, he would tell you how his society’s morality has gone to complete shambles and that he yearns for a bygone era that only really exists in his mind. I guess that’s just what some people always do. Conservatives, eh?
I’ll actually get to the point now.
At my college, there were two history courses available: modern (involving subjects such as the Russian Revolution and Britain from about 1950-2007) and pre-modern (involving subjects such as the crusades and the English Reformation). I took the latter course and was in a class of 18, where there were 13 girls and 5 boys. Generally, the modern history classes were weighted in the opposite way, which simply suggests that at my particular college with my particular year group, boys had a preference for modern history and girls for pre-modern. I would argue that this preference appears to be more widespread in general, but that’s not definite.
The fact that this difference existed is not the problem. The problem is what people perceived this difference to mean.
I was told by a boy (not a nice boy, so not a representation of everyone) who was studying history that the course I was taking was “the gay version”. That, of course, is a puerile insult for 2020 and highlights his maturity level - all history is very, very gay and if you take issue with that then I don’t know what to tell you. Get your head out of your arse, maybe? But anyway... why did he feel superior about studying a different bit of history?
It wasn’t just him. A (male) teacher once told me that the history course I had chosen wasn’t as useful as the other one and that the only use it had was that I could apply transferable essay writing skills to my other subjects. Which was bollocks, might I add. Unsurprisingly, he wasn’t a history teacher.
So, where were these views coming from? Why was the English Reformation - which was basically 16th century Brexit - seen as lesser than the Russian Revolution? The obvious argument one could make is that events that have happened more recently are more important and have more of an impact today. However, without the events of the years before them, would these events have happened either? Does the Church of England not still exist? Do we not have a statue of Richard the Lionheart in Westminster (because we like giving statues to tossers, apparently)?
In my opinion, the answer to this odd hierarchy of time periods lies in gender socialisation and the propensity of people to view history in the same way they view fiction. We know that the traditional male/female gender socialisation patterns are different: boys are socialised to be “tough”, “leaders”, “aggressive” etc. whilst girls are socialised to be “submissive”, “friendly”, “polite” etc. This is hopefully changing now but inbuilt, subconscious biases about the genders and what quantifies masculinity and femininity are still around. There is the stereotype of boys being interested in war due to the toys they were given to play with. Surprise, surprise - warfare in the 20th century alone was vastly different to anything that had come before it and, as I said, due to technology we have more archived about it. I’m not suggesting that only boys are interested in historical war - again, that’s a stereotype. Anyone can be interested in war, 20th century or otherwise. Despite this, I’m not going to pretend there still aren’t those guys who get waaaay into warfare and that their interest and knowledge in history is largely confined to that subject.
And that’s fine! You know, as long as you don’t start worshipping Hitler or anything equally creepy. People aren’t experts on every little bit of history and are allowed to have stereotypical interests.
Yet, that still doesn’t explain completely why “modern history” is viewed as more intellectual, just because maybe it appeals slightly more to men (apart from the obvious that anything men like is viewed as superior in some way).
As historical societies are notably different to our own - especially on the surface - and because there is so much historical fiction that seeks to romanticise it, it is not massively surprising that many people do see history as an extension to fiction. It’s gone, we live in the now, lots of people don’t even believe history matters. The fantasy genre has a habit of adopting historical (often medieval) settings for its tales. It’s an obvious example but Game of Thrones was a retelling of the Wars of the Roses, amongst other things. I think when fantasy is applied to history it makes it seem even less real than it may already and this can lead to it being taken less seriously (though please do watch Horrible Histories or Blackadder and take the piss out of all time periods because humans of every age have been fallible). Of course, it is far easier to romanticise and play around with times that are further from our own because they are further detached and therefore more fantastical. This plays into post-1800 being seen as more “real” and “intellectual”.
Some men who wish to keep women out of the historical circle accuse them of only being interested in history because of “romance” or “fancy dresses” - princesses and knights and fairytales. This is more a low down problem with internet trolls than actual, published historians but the issue still stands. If you view “pre-modern” history through this veil of fiction then it must seem rather childish compared to the stark brutality of the World Wars and the political rise of the New Right in the West. However, conversely, it could also be argued that the nationalism and legend attached to recent warfare makes it equally comparable to a story. Not a happy story but then, Game of Thrones isn’t a happy story either.
I don’t think anyone serious about history actually believes that the romantic, fantastical elements attached to any historical periods are 100% true. Hopefully, most people don’t see them as proof that being interested in a certain period makes you better than someone who is interested in another period. Any period can be romanticised, including the “modern” one - Titanic, anyone? Not to mention the frilly view we have of the Victorians (although that’s not silly because of the Britishness(TM), remember). Actually, using history in fiction and even making fiction about history isn’t even a bad thing and I certainly encourage it. I just think that the truth shouldn’t be conveniently forgotten by those with weird superiority complexes who think that because The Tudors was all about love trysts and fine clothing, the entire period is “girly” and a write off.
What am I saying amongst this rambling mess? The next time you see a girl going through her Ancient Egypt phase, don’t roll your eyes. Not if you wouldn’t do the same when you see a boy with an interest in WW2 tanks. Whichever way people come to their interest in the past is valid (apart from the creepy fascist worshipping I mentioned). A lot of things in our world are gendered when they shouldn’t be; history should be equally open to all and although there is a focus on the past 200 years (just look at the uni modules on offer), that doesn’t mean that if you are interested in the years before, your interest isn’t valid enough.
I hope I’ve managed to explain myself properly and have gotten through how gender plays into this sufficiently. I know this is a very niche thing to have an opinion on and I’d like to stress again that this is just my opinion and you are free to disagree with me. That said, if you send me hate then don’t expect a proper response.
Thanks for the ask!

38: tell us about your pet peeves!
aLRIGHT LADS welcome 2 megans ted talk
(skip this if ur not fond of drama)
so something (refer to the song he said suits myday) happened with jae recently and ive seen fans trying to defend him by @ing him and saying that they love him which is fine - great even! but what i dont approve is how everyone’s basically forgotten about the whole matter because they had concerts so instead of @-ing him and asking him to explain himself, they tell him what a great concert it was which is also great bc their concerts are honestly amazing. basically my pet peeve is when ppl dismiss the problematic action of some people just bc they like them.
another thing is that there were some fans who started guilting others for wanting to drop day6 completely because of what jae did and in my opinion i think it is totally cool to want to drop a group if they did smth bad like??? its ur life???? u can choose who you want to like. what is not cool is pulling out all the good things the person has ever done in their entire life and try to remind others about the positive sides of the person. yes. they’re an encouraging person, etc. but that does not cancel out the bad things they’ve done until they explain/apologise. what is infuriating is just the manner some people took it?? they literally went ahead and tweeted shit like “would your parents drop you if you did smth wrong?” and “you’re seriously gonna drop someone whos been nothing been nice because of one incident?” yes. people will and you dont have any fucking right to stop them? so dont go pulling out receipts.
another thing. its also okay to want to stan the whole group even if someone has done smth problematic. like? to me youre cool if youre able to see and acknowledge the bad shit someone has done and still stand by their side while educating them at the same time its nice to have faith in your idols. however, i wont say much when your idols dont respond and/or respond in a way that shows absolutely no remorse. its cool if you want to support them too, despite that.
tldr; dont fucking excuse someone’s behaviour/action just because youre so far up their fucking ass. dont pull out shit from before either, be it good or bad. and lastly, its okay to want to drop/continue supporting them, its your life.
i just wanted to talk about this tbh,, it was nice to see a few mydays trying to urge jae to explain the whole situation but seeing as he still hasnt and couldve it really irks me :-/
okay update its been a day and i havent really thought about this but im kinda conflicted now bc jae still hasnt talked about the song and im probably just making a big deal out of smth that will never happen again but it really doesnt sit right with me knowing that jae recommended that song to his fans and said it suited mydays?? bc looking at the lyrics... i SURE hope not... idk i have neither forgiven or forgotten but he’s okay now.? i cant stay mad at someone for that long anyway ill never forgive him 4 it though lmao petty ppl only

What I Wish Someone Told Me Before Junior Year
It is currently the summer between my junior and senior year, and I cannot wait to enter my last year of high school! It’s a bit surreal to say the least, but I definitely think junior year was my best year thus far. If you asked me to describe each school year in high school (minus senior year), I’d say that freshman year was the easiest, sophomore year was the most challenging, and junior year was the most productive.
Everybody says junior year is one of the most important years of your high school career, and I agree to a certain extent. My junior year was abundant with highs and lows, stressful nights and early mornings, and dreaded days and exciting events. There were times when I was successful, yet there were others when I felt like a failure.
If you’re about to enter your junior year or if you’d simply like to know my advice on what helped me as a junior, here are five tips on what I wish someone would have told me before my junior year:
1. Start everything early.
If you’re like me, you probably like to procrastinate a lot. In junior year (and in any year of your life), that won’t do you any good.
My teachers recommended students to take their first SAT and ACT exams during their junior year, which makes sense. If you don’t like your score from junior year, you can retake it as a senior in hopes of earning a better score.
So I set out to take my SAT in June (more specifically, June 3) and my ACT the following week (June 10). The reason why I chose the June dates and not May or earlier is because I wanted to “accumulate” as much knowledge as possible before I took each exam.
I have yet to receive my scores, but if there’s one thing I regret, it was that I feel as though I didn’t practice enough.
During my leisure, I watched a TED Talk on what top students do differently than average ones, and one of the key things that top students do is take practice exams well before the test, whereas average students tend to reread the material over and over and over again until their brains are exhausted. Unfortunately, that won’t help you on the SAT/ACT.
What I did to practice for the SAT was to create a Khan Academy account and make a study schedule that I would religiously follow each week in preparation for the June exam. Of course, this is extremely beneficial – if you’re consistent with it.
I, however, was not. I said “hi!” to Khan Academy for about one week straight and then completely abandoned my account. I don’t even recall exactly how many months I skipped SAT Practice because there were so many. Needless to say, DO NOT DO THAT.
The month leading up to June 3, I began to practice every single day. I would log into Khan Academy during zero period, lunch breaks, and before I started my homework. It was a super productive routine, which I am proud to have accomplished, but it undoubtedly required plenty of discipline and determination.
Would I probably have scored higher if I practiced way more? Yes. Would I feel more confident about my score if I studied earlier? Absolutely.
Now that we’re on the topic of studying...
2. Find a study schedule that works for you.
I cannot stress this one enough. If you’re still in that mindset of “I can study the night before the test and still score an A+ on it,” this is especially for you, my friend.
I used to be the type of person who lived and breathed that mindset. I would put off studying until the night before (sometimes the morning of) a test, self-assured that I would get an A. And most of the time, I did. But it did result in me losing precious hours of sleep and crying from constant bouts of stress.
To avoid this, I highly recommend creating a study schedule that works for you (key words: “works for you”). You don’t have to strive to be the next Albert Einstein and study chemistry formulas for five hours every night, because if you’re involved in ten extracurriculars, enrolled in five AP classes, and given a list of twenty chores to do on the daily, you’d obviously have to create a study schedule that caters to your specific needs.
What I did was that I would study my most difficult subjects (i.e. Precalculus, Chemistry, and AP United States History) for about thirty minutes each night, and I would give or take a few minutes depending on how difficult the lesson was or when my next exam would take place. Thirty minutes may not seem like a lot, but it’s way more efficient than studying four hours the night before the test. Plus, I had leadership positions, extracurriculars, and other AP/Honors homework under my belt, so I couldn’t afford to study for hours on end.
Depending on your daily/weekly schedule, I suggest finding what works perfectly for you. This does require some trial and error, but trust me, your hard work will pay off!
3. Get more sleep.
This is a piece of advice I desperately needed. When you’re feeling lethargic at school, you cannot – and will not – show your best work. The only (obvious) way to fix this is by catching more shuteye.
This may require some experimentation. If you’re anything like me and beg for a drop of coffee when you’re running off five hours of sleep, shoot for six to seven hours of sleep (at the very least) each night. Many doctors and professionals suggest eight hours of sleep for optimal energy, but your body may be different. Whether you’re a night owl or a morning bird, I recommend testing out different hours of sleep and seeing what works for you.
Once you’ve determined your ideal sleep schedule, you’ve got to stick to it. I have zero period, which means I wake up every morning at 6 a.m., regardless of whether I want to or not. It’s become a habit for me, but of course, it changes drastically over the summer.
For many students, sticking to a consistent sleep schedule may mean finishing your homework earlier than usual, or sacrificing a few extracurriculars in order to make more time for sleep. That’s okay. If you’re losing hours of sleep due to your activities, re-evaluate each one. Ask yourself, “Is this worth my time?” If it isn’t, you may have to consider knocking it off your schedule.
This brings me to my next point, which is...
3. Don’t be afraid to quit and try out different things.
As children, we were taught that quitting a sport, club, etc. is no bueno. We’re shamed for straying away from our commitments, and even in some cases in high school, it’s heavily frowned upon to do so. But as you grow older, it may be of more benefit to quit extraneous activities than to stay in them.
During my sophomore year, I was on the track team. I absolutely loved sprinting and lifting weights – it was my form of stress-relief (plus, it made me more confident in how my body looked, which was an added bonus). But when I was on the team my junior year, I hated it. I don’t know if it was because of the negative people I was surrounding myself with, or because the workouts just weren’t fun anymore, or if it was a combination of the two. The point is, I quit the track team.
And it was difficult. I was fearful of what my coaches would tell me. I was scared of what my friends on the team would think of me. And most importantly, I was afraid of being shamed for my decision.
Luckily, my coaches and most of my friends were incredibly supportive and understood my situation. But to this day, it was one of the hardest choices I’d ever made in my high school career.
Like the track team, I also quit the All Female Dance Team, Book Club, Science Club, Bible Club, and several others. I chose to leave my AP Chemistry class and opted for an easier chemistry course, simply because I wanted to decrease my workload. Different activities were definitely more challenging to say goodbye to, but in the end, I don’t regret any of my decisions. I feel healthier and more balanced with the activities in which I am currently involved (and I get much more sleep!).
4. Heartbreaks are inevitable, but they’re leading you to your next successful relationship.
Like I mentioned in my previous blog post, I went through an excruciatingly painful breakup early on in my junior year. Needless to say, I was extremely depressed because of it. I’ll spare you the details of what happened (simply because that’s a really personal topic), but without a doubt, I’ve learned so much from my pain. I became more assertive and independent, discovered exactly what I want and don’t want in a guy, and uncovered a newfound strength inside of me that I never knew I possessed.
In conjunction, I don’t recommend rushing into a relationship immediately after you’ve endured a breakup. I gave myself a few months of healing before I started dating my current boyfriend. This healing process may take longer for others and shorter for some, so it’s important to surround yourself with your loved ones and to do activities that make you happy to distract yourself from the pain.
5. Don’t rush it.
This is a short and simple piece of advice my APUSH teacher gave us on the last day of class, yet it’s super meaningful.
There will be many days when you’ll want to get out of high school already. There will also be days when you’ll hate your teachers, your parents, your classmates, and so on. There will be plenty of days when you’ll want to be an adult and have your life figured out already.
But don’t rush it. Enjoy your youth while you still have it, because there are only so many years before you’ll have to pay taxes, work for ten hours each day, and take care of crying babies until 3 a.m. This time of your life is valuable, so treasure it.
I hope this helps you, future juniors, in the upcoming school year! I wish you all the best of luck!
Love, Roselyn

How Valuable really is the IB?
It is hard to know, amongst the keen IB promotion and equally enthusiastic critique, exactly what the true ‘third-way’ picture is, regarding the value of the IB. However, in this post, we hope to offer you a realistic look at just exactly where the IB can take you, where it sits in comparison with other qualifications and why it really is more than ‘worth it’, if you’re willing to put in the effort.
The question ‘Do universities hold the IB in high regard?’, receives famously mixed responses and for good reason. Admittedly, the entry requirements for universities can, in some instances, seem a little harsher for IB than for its equivalent counterparts; particularly in respect to more competitive universities and courses (as we recently discovered at a UCAS careers fair).
However, there are a number of reasons, some of them alterable, for this anomaly and, regardless, IB students consistently challenge expectations and produce unprecedented results in the face of slightly higher boundaries, or are accepted into universities based on the fact that they appear to have a lot to offer and have undoubtedly ‘unique prepositions’ (I will explain)
Why are entry requirements higher? - And why it’s not necessarily a problem.
A points system, as opposed to separation by 6 distinct grades, provides universities with greater scope for differentiation between abilities and, in particular, provides visible differences between the often almost indistinguishable ranks of the ‘most able’.  Hence, the higher grade boundaries. Although this may seem, initially, like a downside to the IB, a points system also has its pros, for the very same fact that universities are able to categorise students more comprehensively.
Universities are more trusting of your abilities and feel they have a more reliable indication of your potential. Someone is more likely to invest in a student of specifically, say, 34 points, than someone with a set of possibly lower-end A’s - for example.
A point score allows you, yourself, to be more realistic about your choices and determine, earlier on, a range of likely options. You are less likely to face disappointment because of a mildly overoptimistic prediction, which pushed you from one grade to the next, and hence into an entirely different range of universities. Missing out by one point, is, for sure, less dramatic than losing a whole grade.
You are only in competition for places with individuals that are truly of your ability and are less likely to pipped to the post because of a weak interview or slightly less than average entry test
Entry requirements are also perhaps higher because there is not yet a recognised basis for comparison between differing qualifications. A grade certainly cannot be viewed as a direct translation to 7.5 points, as division would suggest, as this grade boundary is higher than even possible. This is where universities diverge – some come unstuck and ask for too much comparatively; whilst others have recognised the true merit of the course and we watch as admission grades continue to go down across the board since its introduction in 2006.
Generally, entry requirements are not higher, as such, but the nature of the IB’s point system means that universities are simply able to pinpoint these higher grades and ask for them.
Things can only get better, and have gotten continually better, in this respect, and entry requirements are now entirely achievable.
In our experience, the only very minimal issue with the IB, is that not enough people know about it! The subsequent fear of the unknown and lack of awareness, we believe, is the only factor that places the IB at any sort of disadvantage, and certainly not the individualism of the course which, heretofore mentioned, prove invaluable in any application process
Although grade boundaries look harsher, this is not a reason to shy away from the IB; we hear many success stories, our school has IB students going on to the best unis and on to exciting and often more diverse, niche careers, not just as a result of grades and exceptional intelligence but because the IB also suits 1) Organised people, 2) All-rounders and 3) A University-style education
Furthermore, universities, apprenticeships and employers, alike, want evidence of keen interest – an obvious investment in a subject, field or area of interest, beyond the curriculum of 6th form qualifications and beyond that which you have been taught in school.  This is where the less prescriptive curriculum of the IB comes into its own.
In the future, you may need:
An example essay or portfolio of work
Examples of research
Evidence of interview skills
Ability to cope with impromptu testing
Evidence of Extra-curricular involvement
An obviously curious mind and unique way of thinking
An original and academic approach to study
Luckily for you, these skills are all a part and parcel of the IB course; you will have the correct levels of ability and required pieces of work readily at hand, meaning less stress in the application process and, in many cases, more time for revision
In fact, studies have found that IB students make the best prospective Uni students. IA’s, CAS and TOK, alone, already account for their measures of success and students are already having to produce uni-style essays, formulate titles and hypotheses, give presentations etc.
Finally, you are, in fact, statistically more likely to achieve the university place that you want. Exams are over early and you have more time to prepare if the worst were to happen and you did not meet your requirements. There is plenty of time to look into clearing offers and alternatives if everything were to go wrong on the day.
In summary:
Universities all differ, but there are now many top universities, in fact most, that offer entirely reasonable comparative entry grades
Students are better prepared for university-style study by the IB and university admissions teams are realising this fact increasingly in their considerations of placing
Last week, I was told by countless universities that IB begins you on, at least, an equal footing and this fact does indeed seem to ring true.
Is it worth taking 6 subjects – do I sacrifice depth for breadth?
It is commonly assumed that the IB offers quantity at the expense of quality. However, this is not the case:
For starters, higher subjects are certainly parallel to A-level standard and particularly in sciences and maths, cover and go beyond the content of other curricular.
Furthermore, the IB encourages wider reading and work outside of the classroom – as I see it, the IB simply asks for more groundwork to be covered, in less time.
Mark schemes, as in any other case, penalise vagueness or brevity; hence, depth is an as essential part of the course as in any other instance.
And the dreaded question arises, ‘Why take 6 subjects when you could only take 3?’ – connections between subjects, a wider knowledge and broader study, in fact, promote greater depth in each subject. You acquire more methods of thinking, are more adept at puzzling out answers in subjects that you find difficult and ‘learn to learn’. Don’t let your neurones die! (or something like that, I don’t take biology)
Will I learn any skills different to other courses? What am I missing? What am I gaining?
You gain life-skills, as well as text-book knowledge. You learn to handle, interpret and make meaningful a set of information, rather than just funnel it into a text-book answer. You have a global mind-set, which is increasingly valued in the world. You have an awareness of inter-connectedness, of opportunity and a unique insight into culture. You are more likely to travel and to experience the world. Your choice to take the IB, is perhaps indicative of your tendency to take unconventional routes, to challenge yourself and of your ability to explain yourself and your decisions. The only thing you may miss is time, straightforwardness, security and clear direction – but this only makes life more interesting, you more uniquely employable and more invested in your areas of research and you are given more room to develop personally and academically – (This is a fortune-cookie-esque, magazine-maze-style answer, I am aware, but it’s all true.)
You are prepared for the real world of work and the realities of life, and not just modelled to pass an exam.
Where you lack in ‘time’, you gain skills, you are motivated to do the things that you have always wanted to do (e.g. play guitar, visit an old people’s home) and you learn to reach a balance of habits that will carry you with relative ease into life outside of school.
How much harder is it?
Hard is what you make of it – I mean, yes, it’s harder to manage perhaps, but once you learn to make decisions and learn all the relevant skills the work is no harder, there is just more of it, in less time. The IB does not have to be difficult, it is wholly achievable, and it certainly makes the next steps easier. (After all, procrastination is the worst enemy in any stage of life)
Am I risking something that is not worth it?
It depends what you hold as valuable – for us the process of developing as people in the long-term is equally as important as the end results. In this respect, it’s certainly ‘worth’ sacrificing a few hours of procrastination a week, for personal development and a broad, comprehensive education.
How can we promote the IB and help others to see its comparative worth?
Make it a CAS project
Tell people!
Get involved with projects such as Lanterna, or other IB promotion networks (There are plenty out there)
Essentially, take any chance you get to explain the IB, to talk about its worth and prove through your actions that the IB shapes considerate, international and ambitious people.
For more info: Take a look at these websites – or google ‘pros and cons of IB’ – there’s a tonne of information but it’s probably wise to take IB memes with a pinch of salt – we all like to exaggerate, to an extent, it takes the edge off the work-load:

Day 5: studyblrs get real
I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while now, because I am nowhere near the picture-perfect accounts with clean uncluttered desks and white backgrounds and neat handwritten notes with every title written in flawless calligraphy. It’s a shame because the studyblr community sort of conditions you into thinking that you need to have an aesthetic or you won’t get notes, and then that means we have an unrealistic view of what studying should really be. This is something I wrote in my very first post:
“I realised I wasn’t cut out to be one of those cool minimalist bloggers that used mildliners to highlight every second line of their aesthetic study notes. So I reckon my posts will lean towards the study end of things, but this probably won’t be Scandinavian stationery and pastel-coloured calligraphy. If it does turn out like that, I’ll cry a little inside. This, for me, is an online journal to document how I go this year. I want a place to keep it real, to post things that I learn and to see how I’ve grown over my final year of school.”
I have to shamefully say that I’m not really upholding my aforementioned promise to keep it real on this blog, so I hope that the following list makes up for it:
All my photos are 100% staged!!!!! Need I say anything else? This seems blatantly obvious, but in case you didn’t realise the first time, I’ll say it again: they’re all staged! While I own all the things featured in my photos, they’re never actually arranged neatly and artistically when I’m working! Seriously, do people really study with their pastel highlighters in colour order, their sweater just artfully draped over their notes and their laptop open to the nice clock screensaver thing? I mean sometimes I study on my bed with my notes spread out over my sheets because I’m lazy and my bed is comfy, but even then it looks nothing like it does in my photos.
I do digital notes, which are strangely underrepresented on the study side of tumblr - seriously, you all have laptops, I’m sure you make digital notes too, even if they’re just the first draft! I know that it’s been proven that you study and memorise better with notes you’ve actually handwritten, but I am honestly lucky enough to get away with light studying and little notes/little rewriting of notes (which saves so much time) because I grasp concepts really quickly and have a good memory and understanding, to the point where I really only need to hear something once in class (without writing it in class!) and commit it to memory for good (and trust me, I try not to take this for granted because I know how many people would kill for it! Although it comes with its downsides - I don’t really know how to study) anyway, I decided to make this my picture for today because the whole idea of it goes against what the studyblr community thinks looks nice. No calligraphy, no cute dividers, no Japanese stationery.
I’m not put-together at all, I’m sometimes so disorganised that I lose things on my own desk, my school bag is a mess of paper and right now I’m dealing with exam stress in the worst possible way. The panic attacks and breakdowns have happened so frequently that I’ve lost count - I had chemistry last Friday and literally cried in the exam room, facing my paper. Trust me, if there is anything more mortifying than crying at school, it is crying in the middle of the exam room while everyone stares at you.
I don’t own any mildliners OR muji pens - this one is pretty self-explanatory, but yep you read that right, I don’t own a single one! I try not to buy myself expensive or unnecessary stationery (if you see anything expensive in my original content, those are usually gifts from friends!) The way I see it, all I need are a couple of good quality pens for notes and essays and that’s it. I save my money for bigger and better things, like a holiday after graduating this year and (!!!) university fees (omg I’m not ready for uni next year at all!)
I start assignments the night before - okay, so I’ve honestly improved on this one and this year I haven’t started anything the night before (maybe 2 nights before?) but a few years ago this was a serious issue for me. I’ve never needed to pull an all-nighter because I can work fast and efficiently when I have to, but once I started writing a speech way too late and then got too tired and went to bed at around 1:30am. Worst mistake of my life - I woke up, tried working on it before school and during my free period, and ended up finishing it in the 20 minute recess break before my speech was due. Not my finest moment, but hey I learned a lesson and I’ve never done anything like that since.
I have terrible sleep patterns. I consistently go to bed at 11:30-12 or even later, either because I’m procrastinating watching beauty YouTubers (yes I procrastinate! shock horror) or trying to fit in some last minute study or just because I fell asleep at my table, and then I wake up at 6 completely unsatisfied with my sleep. I’m so tired that I have constant dark circles and pimples, and I can’t survive a whole day without at least a double shot of coffee otherwise I’ll be nodding off during the day and taking a massive nap when I get home. I’m starting to think maybe the Spanish were right about siestas...
I’ve gained weight and I’m not proud of it. After being underweight my whole life, I’ve finally made it onto the cusp of the “healthy weight” BMI mark - which I understand is nothing to be ashamed of and is honestly a healthy thing (hence why they call it healthy weight), but it feels so ungratifying. Thanks to the demands of school, I’m not exercising as frequently as I used to (only once a week compared to three times a week before!) and to make matters worse, this year has been so hard on me emotionally and mentally that I just keep eating junk food for comfort. I don’t think I could even count how many times I’ve turned to ice cream (Häagen-Dazs salted caramel you are my saviour) or chocolate (I bought $12 worth of chocolate last week after a panic attack!) I’ve never had kale or a green smoothie or an açaí bowl in my life, I’m just not one of those people.
It is 9pm on a school night and I have not showered or eaten dinner. I just randomly felt like putting this one in as I finished this post just to further illustrate my point about how disorganised I am. As you can tell, I am clearly winning at life. But hey, character building right? Now I’m off to eat some cold leftovers, go me.
