as newspapers today dont tend to hire children, a modern day Tintin would run a clickbait YouTube channel, except the clickbait is 100% real every single time
he starts off as an irritating conservative pundit at 14, meets Chang then leaves the think tank paying him and launches his own independent channel and blows up shortly after. Chang helps with video editing and managing his socials and they often chat on video calls between adventures. Haddock, his foster dad, has absolutely no knowledge of his earlier videos.

MDZS x Firefly AU: A ragtag crew.
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#mdzs au#firefly#wei wuxian#jiang cheng#lan wangji#jiang yanli#Wen Ning#Wen Qing#nie huaisang#xue yang#A-qing#That's right! this month's flavour of MDZS AU is Space Western!#I recently rewatched the show and forgot that the lore essentially made everyone bilingual in Mandarin and English.#It's fun to hear characters talk in mandarin and now understand a little bit of what they're saying!#A Firefly AU fits them so well and I need to talk about it.#I have strong thoughts about my placement for all of these characters. Let's start with the most likely to be contraversial:#I think a less thought-out AU would pitch Wei Wuxian as the Captain or a Companion.#But there are a several reasons why that would simply not be the case:#Wei Wuxian is smart! He's good at what he finds a passion and interest in! Piloting is a complex skill that grants him a freedom to explore#He wants to kick back and chill! He would hate the responsibility of being the captain! That's JC's job!#In my heart he's also second in command - which does make WWX essentially Zoe and Wash smashed together.#Companions are also persons of high rank in this universe. Something WWX is very...not defined as.#Someone beautiful of higher social rank...someone who yearns for someone they want to explode in their mind...It was no contest.#I think there are a lot if really interesting things to explore with LWJ as a companion. Functionally they are similar to Courtesans -#But it isn't always about the sex - A Lan Wangji who sees himself only through the wants and needs of others -#is a really interesting angle I have been pondering a lot about.#Final thought to close up this long ramble: Yes. It is so essential that every space crew have a 'Weird Teen (girl optional) on board'.#Will I post more of this? Maybe! If people want to see more!

She's not ...entirely sure this is a good idea.
Even as she raises her hand to knock she's second guessing herself.
The thing is - the thing is there aren't a lot of people in her life who don't take one look at her and make assumptions. She's petite, she's blonde, her face is eerily symmetrical.
When people see her, they think they know her.
Cap is great. The sort of man she wishes she'd known more of, growing up. The kind of man who stood in front of the entire crew and doled out cleaning duties and cooking duties to his men and didn't blink an eye handing her inventory, but pulled aside a guy six years into the job to inform him that if he made a snide comment about having to do Mona's job again he'd be looking for a new station. Respectfully.
The kind of man who let his crew cut loose and created a kind of family behind those bay doors, but didn't take their shit when they got out of hand
The kind of man who looked at her and just saw another firefighter.
Cap is great.
It's just...
Well, the guys don't go to Cap for advice, and she knows once upon a time that kind of hurt his feelings, but this feels like one of those things his husband is better equipped to handle.
("It's because he's older, right?" Cap had asked once, failing miserably at holding in a pout while the team around him demolished the roast he'd obviously spent hours prepping the night before.
Fred had still had half a loaf of bread in his mouth when he explained that talking to their boss about their sex lives just felt like an HR nightmare.
"So you go to my boyfriend instead?")
Mona's still considering turning heel and leaving the way she came when she hears whistling around the side of the house, and before she can make a break for it, Cap's husband is rounding the corner of the porch, winding his hands in a grease rag, and he's catching sight of her, raising a brow, slowing his steps.
He must see the panicked look in her eye.
"I can turn back around and pretend you were never here," he murmurs, the slightest hint of a smile on his face, and Mona feels every ounce of flight just seep from her bones.
Yeah. Okay. She gets why the guys all think he's the one to go to when they've royally fucked something up.
There's an ease to him, a gentleness that she knows for a fact was hard fought.
"No, I..."
The brow ticks up a little more.
"I just found a new sour Evan won't touch with a ten foot pole, if you're gonna be here a minute," Tommy says, and any resistance left vanishes. Mona's been to enough of Cap's barbecues to know his husband always has the best beer in the county.
"Yeah, okay."
Tommy crosses the length of the porch and glances glumly at his greasy hands. "You mind grabbing the door? Evan throws a fit every time I leave fingerprints behind."
She's interrupting his day, she realizes. He's a weird sort of semi-retired - flies for the county sometimes during wildfire season, flips classic cars from their huge ass garage around the side of the house, spends a month teaching courses to new pilots every year out of state and it's always the crankiest they ever get to see Cap. People charter his chopper, sometimes, although lately it seems like he only keeps the thing around so he can take Cap up to watch spectacular sunsets because they're the most sickeningly perfect couple she's ever met.
Mona grabs the door. Shuffles in ahead of him when he shows no signs of moving, and makes her way down the hall to the kitchen because she's been here enough times by now not to feel as weird about how welcoming they both were right away.
He uses his rag to pull open the sink cabinet and grab the heavy duty soap from underneath to wash his hands.
The scent rolls over her in waves, throwing her back about fifteen years to her parents tiny little apartment over the shop, her father's rough and callused hands soaking under shitty water pressure, the grease under his fingernails he could never quite scrape clean.
Tommy tips a chin at the fridge. "Grab me one, too? Bottle openers on the side."
There's an ease to the way he says it, like this is a normal occurrence, like Mona's ever stepped foot across the threshold for anything that wasn't a station-wide get together. She supposes for him it probably is. At least a few of the guys act like he's their dad, wandering into the house without even bothering to knock, gathering around him when he shows up at the station like lost little puppies.
He's used to it.
He hums his thank you when she sets one of the bottles on the island beside him, and Mona glances around to distract herself while he's drying his hands.
A couple dozen pictures of Cap and Tommy, in various stages of their lives.
The fridge is plastered with pictures. A couple she recognizes as Cap's sister and brother-in-law, two adorable kids at their knees. A guy standing next to a kid wearing a cap and gown and leaning on two crutches. An older man she's lovingly heard Cap refer to as basically his dad - the reason they eat better at work than anyone has the right to. A couple she'd seen at the wedding, standing with a kid she remembers Cap staring at like he was seeing a ghost. There's so many people that she doesn't know, but - there's the station pictures too. Candids of the boys when they were living in the Captain's house, back when Cap first got here, when she'd still been a year and a half from graduating high school and didn't have a fucking clue what she wanted to do with her life. The Christmas that Fred had cursed them with the q-word and Tommy had spent the day in the station kitchen putting together a meal they'd all stuck around to eat after shift despite the exhaustion seeping into their bones, all of A shift crammed together around a tiny wobbly table to squeeze into the picture.
She gets stuck on the picture of the two of them in hard hats, building what she's pretty sure is the wrap around porch she's snuck a few cigarettes on when the house gets a little overwhelming. There's something about the way they're looking at each other that makes her want to cry, a little.
Fuck.
Damnit.
Tommy leans over to tap the picture with a grin. "We had a blowout fight the night before our buddy took this picture," he says, the deep grooves of his smile stretched wide across his face. "I'd left my job and sold my house six months earlier to chase him across the country and he was convinced if he didn't find a way to turn every half-thought-out desire of mine into a reality that I was gonna vanish in the night. He bought the lumber without telling me and I came home to him and his best friend ripping out the stairs to the front door."
Mona's instantly drawn in.
He makes them sound like a train wreck.
If she's got the math right, that was her senior year. She remembers seeing them around town and thinking they were annoyingly sweet. She remembers her mom baking Tommy a casserole for the excuse of getting all the gossip about the Captain's mysterious paramour so she had the upper hand at her book club that weekend.
Tommy taps another. The two of them under a pergola, the expressions on their faces so disgustingly smitten Mona remembers wanting to blow a raspberry in the middle of the ceremony. She'd been so convinced she'd never let herself be so fucking dependent on another person for her happiness.
"He kept it a secret that he'd invited my father to the wedding until the night before. I spent most of my night with a punching bag instead of Evan." He points out another photo from the wedding. "The photographer tried to murder me when she saw my knuckles. Evan could barely fit the ring over my finger."
"Who snitched?" Mona asks, narrowing her eyes, and Tommy grins, huffs a laugh. He gestures vaguely at her face.
"You've got the look," he tells her, which doesn't really explain a whole lot. "And none of Evan's crew ever makes their first visit anything but love life issues."
"It could be something else," Mona argues, gesturing with her beer, and one of his brows ticks up. "It's not, but it could be."
"You want something to eat? Evan's been experimenting with cakes again, and the red velvet white chocolate escaped the discards."
"Is my so called look that bad?"
He grins. "Mostly I'm looking for an excuse for cake before noon."
Christ, he's good at this. It's actually a little eerie, how quickly he's set her at ease. It's been over a year and the guys still call her prickly when they think she can't hear them, but she never calls them out on it because they're not wrong. It takes her forever to warm up to people.
"Is that how this usually works? You butter us up with Cap's food and get us to spill our guts?"
He's already digging plates from a cabinet next to the stove. She can't see his expression, but she can picture the grin on his face. "Usually they raid my fridge and put their feet up on my coffee table before I've fully registered that they're here. It's sort of a novelty to get to act like a host in my own home."
That checks out, if she's being honest. They're all a bunch of rabid animals who've been emboldened by Cap's open door policy and his infectious smile and his incredibly hot and talented husband. She's never quite sure if the guys want to be him or screw him - not that Tommy's ever looked twice at anyone who wasn't Cap.
"I think I'm broken," Mona admits, the words coming out in a rush, her eyes on the dutch oven tucked under one of the wide kitchen windows.
Tommy slides a slice of fucking delicious looking cake her way and takes a swig of his beer. Waits.
Mona reaches for the fork and spills her guts.
---
"Oh, hey Mo," Cap says, stumbling his way over the threshold, eyes lighting on his husband and his expression going gooey.
Tommy broke into the rack of Banquet's an hour ago and Mona's pretty sure she's one with the couch. It's a good couch. When she'd told Tommy so twenty minutes ago there'd been a gleam in his eye she didn't understand.
She's still a little too buzzed to worry about the fact that she's oozing into the cushions and emotionally wrecked. She hasn't cried in front of another human being in at least six years. Tommy's probably a wizard, or something.
"Everything good?" Cap asks, and she knows that they've got a sort of agreement - unless Tommy thinks something is gonna affect the work, whatever Tommy talks about with them doesn't reach Cap's ears.
"Men," Mona huffs, and Cap pauses, shoots another look into the living room.
"Yeah. Men."
"No Cap. Men," she repeats, and he nods, a corner of his mouth quirking up.
"Oh. Men," he enunciates, and Mona feels the scowl on her face grow wider when the two of them share a sappy look. It's super fucking inconvenient to be surrounded by the proof of true fucking love when she's trying to convince herself she's already too jaded to find it. "If you wanna stay for dinner I can tell you the story of the time Tommy tried to leave me because he thought he could make my decisions for me."
Even Tommy's scowl is sappy as hell. It's gross. Shes having a hard time convincing herself it's not the best thing she's ever seen.
She tips her neck against the back of the couch to glance up at him. "Who snitched?"
Cap's laugh filters through the room, and right across from her, where the whole world and Mona can see, Tommy's expression goes warm and vulnerable, like the sound has soothed a few decades of wounds. "Word of advice? Never leave Harry with a secret and a crowded room."

i know that uhura’s role in tos was written to be like a radioman (the guy in wwii movies who carries the phone on his back sometimes) meaning that the “communications officer” role evolved from radioman to linguist in the time since tos aired. but that makes uhura in tos really interesting with a retrospective read of her character, applying things novels and later iterations of her have fleshed out, because she doesn’t do any visible linguistic work in any tos episode. she does security and navigation and piloting and engineering which sort of makes her seem like a valuably flexible sort of many-skilled officer.
it was probably both enterprise with hoshi and the 2009 movie that really cemented the idea of “communications officer means linguist or at the very least polyglot” instead of it just being an uhura-quirk. uhura in the 2009 movie does a lot of engineering/operating work of comm equipment and is implied to speak a lot of languages on top of be able to interpret subspace “noise,” so to speak (like, there’s no way it’s radio. it can’t be radio. star trek takes place across distances of lightyears—when they say “signal,” i’m assuming it’s not radio). and of course strange new worlds has run with the linguistics angle and made it even more explicit that yes she studies linguistics, linguistics is a core part of starfleet academic infrastructure, to the point where whole episode plots are written around the act of translation.
the retrospective addition of this expertise to uhura makes what she is in tos a character even more focused on leadership and, idk, becoming something like a captain, because she doesn’t seem all that specialized. she’s more of a kirk-like character, or janeway or sisko, characters that have a specialized skill but have set it aside mostly to pursue some sort of command. obviously this wasn’t the intention of her character. writers of uhura have mostly just stumbled on the idea of her as a polyglot (according to wikipedia, first introduced in the novel uhura’s song, so) and been like “neat idea! makes sense! explorers need to learn languages!” and kept doubling down on that idea until we get to an origin-story uhura in snw that (wildly) speaks 37 languages, for whatever definition of speak or language, i guess.
what all this overthinking on my part has generated is this idea of uhura very much like a futuristic-captain aubrey or a captain sisko not nailed down to one station, hanging off the shrouds of a solar-sail ship’s rigging, looking beyond, in the most romantic and idealized version of an explorer. i think a lot of people read/write female characters as being more down-to-earth than the whimsical leader-on-the-sea or more nurturing than than the hardened captain-of-a-ship, partly why janeway and burnham are so wonderful to me. but it’s fun to imagine tos uhura being the exploring-captain archetype, amongst the political structures of the 60s. like the additions to her character over the years have solidified that romantic adventurer portrait of her in tos, when the idea of her in command would be the least welcome.
and the fact that she was shown to be excited about a solar sailing ship in snw, like sisko was in ds9 for that one episode, i think emphasizes this read of her—and that her character-journey in snw is going to be how she goes from bookish linguist to “hanging-on-a-shroud-on-a-sunsail-ship” looking out to “sea”.
#i also think this all somewhat contributes to star trek’s efforts towards decolonizing the concept of exploration#to the extent that any star trek writer has thought of it.#in combo with sisko sun-sailing while proving a colonized people were more advanced in tech than assumed#and michael burnham slowly self-actualizing and figuring out who she is outside of the culture she was raised in while becoming captain#and now uhura in snw changing in some way how we view this very old character. updating her role in ways that affect how she’s read in tos#i don’t think there’s a deliberate concern with “decolonizing the ideas of science and exploration”#but i also think the efforts to diversify the star trek property inevitably lead to some aesthetic and poetic argument to that end#however small that end might be in a larger scheme#but in an intertextual sort of way: nichols was hired by nasa to recruit women and people of color into the space program#so you know. it’s all Significant#star trek#uhura#tos#aos#strange new worlds#snw#ds9#sisko#nyota uhura

Ok guys hear me out. Mouthwashing works as a musical. So many monologues can be turned into songs. Swansea's monologue can be a solo. Anya's monologue can be a solo. Curly gets his I Want song and it probably has the word 'ladder' in its title. There's absolutely one track called 'I Hope This Hurts'. Heck, even cutscenes can turn ito songs. The Dead Pixel conversation. Curly's birthday and his announcement. Jimmy convincing Daisuke to climb into the vent (Jimmy sings the tune Daisuke sang when the latter was passed out on the ground, explaining why he's on the Tuplar and hoping his mom won't blame him). Jimmy repenting to Curly burning in a chair (and the track's name is definitely Heroes like in the game's OST). Even segments of surrealistic gameplay can be turned into songs (like aforementioned ladder song).
Characters can also have their own leitmotifs. Jimmy's first appears in a track called 'I Can Fix This', and it comes up in every scene he fucks up. Just like how the sound of a baby crying is a motif scattered through Mouthwashing's OST (like how the baby crying at the very start foreshadows how you're playing as Jimmy, not Curly), Anya's leitmotif is constantly everywhere, but always sounds incomplete, like a question with no answer, a cry for help with no response, since her existence and trauma is never fully acknowledged. It's only completed in her own solo, since she had to fend for herself in the end.
But wait. Why does the second half of her leitmotif sound familiar? Why does it sound like one of the opening numbers 'Polly Says' whose corporate-cheerful juxtaposes the Tuplar's crews mundane routine? This bit ties into that theory of Polly being Anya's vengence in a way, with how the two have the same text colour in a game where all characters have unique text colours. When Anya dies, the Polly half of the leitmotif constantly haunts the tracks or something up until 'Polly Says, Reprise' plays in that final conversation between Jimmy and Polly. Maybe Anya's leitmotif comes back in that scene. Idk. I don't study theatre or music but this idea just struck me like lightning. In this essay I will-
#the musical will still jump back and forth in time like the game#i like to think that post crash curly is an entirely different actor cuz removing and reapplying all that makeup will take too long#but in the part where jimmy has killed everyone and is tripping out#all that time is used to costume change curly's actor into post crash curly#so that curly can have his duet with jimmy later#personally i also think that the minigame of feeding curly his leg represents curly actively resisting jimmy for the first time in the game#that can be a solo#ladders reprise or sth if we want to self indulge in some curly exploration post crash#mouthwashing game#mouthwashing#mouthwashing fandom#anya mouthwashing#swansea mouthwashing#daisuke mouthwashing#jimmy mouthwashing#captain curly#curly mouthwashing#wrong organ

This is PURELY FOR GIGGLES but
Ranking LU characters based on if I think they do WEED of any sort (from lowest to highest)
WIND IS NOT INCLUDED. Malon and Ravio are here tho.
1 - Wars

Tried it once to look cool, coughed so hard he couldn't take a second hit, got embarrassed and never picked one up again. This is the same reason he does not smoke cigarettes, his lungs are just not equipped.
1 - Time

Used to be pretty into it, knew where to find THE BEST cannabis in the lost woods, and probably got Malon into it. They only do it on special occasions now, as a treat. Most likely in some kind of baked goods. Had this been when he was in his twenties, however....
3 - Malon

Started smoking with Time, and same with him, they both mellowed out as they grew older. Probably stress smoked a blunt when Time vanished into a goddess portal
4 - Hyrule

Has done it, had a great time, but it's super rare in his era. If given the chance, he could out-smoke anyone in or outside the chain
5 - Twilight

He smokes when convenient and it doesn't interrupt his work, and he grows the most mediocre weed. He sucks at growing it, most of the plants die and those that survive are very mediocre. Not bad, NOT GOOD, just mediocre.
6 - Sky

He absolutely does but no one knows. He's a super secret stoner. No one can tell when he's high. He's in the top three of the chain, and no one knows. They probably think he doesn't have any in his era. His lungs aren't super well equipped for smoke so he usually sticks to edibles unless he thinks he'll be able to just chill for a few days after
7 - Four

Has a blast with it, but has crazy low tolerance. He takes one hit of a blunt and he's zoinked out for the rest of the night. Legend makes fun of him for this.
8 - Legend

He is THE stoner of the group. Irl he'd be the friend who'd invite you to go take a walk or go to the bathroom with him and whip out a pen and offer you a hit. He's the most chill guy when high. He is (mostly) unwillingly growing it at his house because Ravio sells overpriced weed along with cursed trinkets
9 - Ravio

As said prior, he grows and sells it at an unreasonable rate. He and Legend smoke in the apple orchid. Ravio would have a pen on him at all times, no matter the situation. He doesn't shut up when high.
10 - Wild

Wild is THE guy. He rolls the tightest blunts and grows the most VOLUPTUOUS weed, and knows where to find it in most areas of his Hyrule. Smoking anything he supplies is heavenly. He also makes it into teas and food, and has forgotten which ones have cannabis in them. He knows countless strains of weed, and can identify which would be best for you purely by vibes alone. He would be the cousin that invites you out for The Walk™ at family reunions. Also he grows psychedelic mushrooms.
#tw weed#linked universe#look i was bored and inspired off of a tiktok post#lu wild#lu time#lu twilight#lu legend#lu hyrule#lu sky#lu wars#rip Captains lungs theyre just not equipped#lu four#lu malon#lu ravio#this is based off of vibes but i know im right#Wild has explored every inch of his hyrule theres no way he hasnt memorized all the best smoke spots#Wind doesn't get included cause hes FOURTEEN and he already has his rum/water mixture as a pirate

Tintin Tarot, part 2 - the Fool's Journey Continues. Part 1 can be found here! Me and @josephscoat came up with a list of Tintin characters assigned to the major arcana cards in a tarot deck after she realised how well Tintin mapped onto the Fool.
The Hanged Man - Sacrifice, martydom and hesitation. Frank Wolff's death in Explorers on the Moon really stuck with me. I watched the 90s cartoon adaptation of it with a friend recently and even though I knew what was going to happen, it still hit very hard. I replaced the living tree, which represents the potential for growth and knowledge on the original card, with the planet Earth.
Death - New beginnings, metamorphosis, fear of change and decay. Even just for the imagery I had to use Rascar Capac. His use in the narrative seems to demonstrate a fear of the unknown. As the Hierophant and the child from the Sun card appear on the original Death card, I opted to use Rascar Capac as he's in the same story as the Prince of the Sun and Zorrino, who we assigned to the Hierophant and the Sun respectively! Professor Tarragon replaces the dying person on the ground in the original card, and Inti the Incan sun god watches over the scene.
Temperance - Middle path, patience, finding meaning, but also could mean excess and a lack of balance when reversed. Haddock is famous for his tendency to fly off the handle at a moment's notice. But Haddock also has endless patience for Tintin's bullshit. His character arc is one of finding meaning in his life after hitting rock bottom. He is pouring bottles of Loch Lomond, as seen in the Magician card.
The Devil - Addiction, lust, materialism, playfulness. Who else is more devillish than Tintin's arch nemesis, Rastapopoulos? His schemes grow wilder and larger as he pursues wealth and revenge. While sexuality is famously absent from the Tintin series, Rastapopoulos and his associates certainly lust over money and control. Tom and Allan are held in chains, though they are clearly removeable. The choice is theirs if they wish to walk away.
The Tower - Sudden upheaval, disaster, but also an avoidance of disaster in reverse. Calculus' reusable nuclear powered moon rocket was literally ahead of its time, representing a huge shake up in technological advancement in the Tintin universe. However, the moon mission attracted a lot of sabotage and disaster which was narrowly avoided. While the characters had to rely on the rocket for safety, it's not necessarily predictable.
The Star - Hope and rejuvenation, but also discouragement and insecurity in reverse. The phostile meteorite ushered a global wave of panic and speculation initially, but once it landed it became a beacon for competing factions to get to in time. It has a property that allows living things to grow quickly and abnormally large, representing the abundance the Star card is supposed to signal. The Star is supposed to follow the trauma of the Tower. Picking the rocket and meteorite felt thematically appropriate as both have associations with space, a relatively new frontier.
The Moon - Illusions, intuition, fear, confusion, misinterpretation. Professor Phostle jumps to conclusions and makes wild predictions from shaky calculations. He's also conveniently moon shaped.
The Sun - Inner child, joy, truth and liberation from struggle, or sadness and self doubt in reverse. Zorrino escapes the torment and bullying in his village and joins the Inca. Haddock and Tintin are immediately protective over him, with Zorrino being a little younger than Tintin.
Judgement - Releasing baggage, call to action, renewal, moving forward. Ramo Nash breaks free from Rastapopoulos' grasp and saves Tintin's life. I decided to depict the final confrontation scene from Alph Art where he pushes Rastapopoulos off a cliff, to his end.
The World - Culmination, success, completion, but stagnation in reverse. The Fool has seemingly completed his journey - Tintin has it all, a successful fulfilling career, friends who care about him and a manion to live in. But he is, by design, stagnant. Forever a cherub faced boy, stuck in an episodic serial by nature, Hergé wanted to kill him off by sealing him inside a resin statue, freezing him in place for eternity. He will forever be the Boy Reporter.
I dressed him as a Morris dancer because I thought it would be funny

what i would give for a ghost based cod campaign. can you imagine if they pulled from the comics and had roba come back and want to get revenge against ghost for destroying his empire? the 141 slowly learning about simon riley and banding together to kill his ghost?
ghost being so certain he killed roba to set up an unreliable narrator; taking this unfathomable soldier, the nightmare of the 141, and realising he bleeds humanity. playing as ghost through flashbacks of mexico and his torture under roba but in the current time, little details break down; little inconsistencies of enemy numbers or base layout or what people look like, things that you can't be sure if you the player just missed something or if it’s really ghost seeing things that aren’t there
ghost starting to question how much of his memory is real, both what he went through with roba and what he’s currently experiencing; if it's his trauma bleeding through or if he's breaking for the last time. he doesn’t know if he can trust himself ("just make sure you can trust yourself. start there") and he has to reckon with completely trusting the 141 when he realises he can't
i need a sequence of him just losing his shit; hearing roba's voice in his head, his taunting “english” telling him he never left his compound, seeing the dead prostitute and his father laughing, always laughing, the tear of the meathook between his ribs and sting of the scorpions in his flesh, the coffin and the rotting stench of the dark and all of it culminating in ghost almost accidentally shooting soap when he tries to talk him down
whether it ends up being someone pretending to be roba or they just change it to roba still being alive, either way i need a ghost based campaign with personal stakes and character depth
#i know the campaigns are just to sell the multiplayer#the campaigns are always these big world ending stories that are ridiculous in their scope and convolution#but imagine a smaller intimate narrative#its just the 141 and roba; just the uk and mexico#no big world ending threat#just one man’s past coming back to haunt him after he stripped himself of his own humanity#ghost let simon riley die#and now roba wants to violate his corpse#with how liht the mw games are on character growth and even just characters themselves it could really benefit from a campaign like this#we know nothing about the 141; nothing about their pasts barely anything about their personalities#this would let them explore how they act when one of their own is struggling; when something personal threatens them#and it woukd fit the grounded tone they went for in mw19#coming out of my cage and ive been doing just fine.txt#we’re a team. ghost team#cod mw2#simon ghost riley#soap cod#john soap mactavish#ghost cod#soapghost#ghostsoap#ghoap#task force 141#john price#captain john price#kyle gaz garrick#gaz cod#manuel roba#ghost comics#cod modern warfare

You know how we thought that the pink sailing ship from the first book was a symbol of Jupiter because of his exploring. What if it was actually a symbol of Rosie, cause she was the explorer
#Im imagining Jupiter is already freaking out about Rosie being missing#and then the Deucalion sheds the previous chandelier and the crash is just the last resort#and all his terrible “i miss my best friend and im suddenly the caregiver of a child#and the captain of a team of explorers 100x more experienced than me“ emotions spill out and he has a breakdown#nevermoor#jupiter north#rosamund korrapati#silverborn spoilers

I've recently realized that I have a really hard time reading fics where characters like Ahsoka and the clones learn about Obi-Wan or Anakin's childhood angst, and all the other characters will be like, "aww, they had such a sad childhood :(" and feel bad for them. Because all I can think about half the time when they say that is "bitch, ain't that you???"
Like, I feel like I remember seeing a fic or comic with de-aged Obi-Wan where he implied he fought in a war as a teenager and everyone else feels bad for him, and I couldn't even fully feel anything in the moment because all I thought was, "mfs, Ahsoka is literally right there-"
I honestly won't even blame her if her reaction was just neutral or "yeah? And???" just because she probably doesn't fully realize how messed up her own situation is, or that of all the other padawans her age. Also, why would all these guys feel so bad when they already know a ton of other character currently in that situation and don't have that same type of attitude??? I think it just feels like ignoring the giant elephant in the room.
And then sometimes I'll read a fic or two with Anakin slavery angst but he's venting about it to the clones, who were specifically created for the sake of being slaves and are still very much currently enslaved. Or it at least brushes past the fact despite the fic having clones very much in it.
Honestly, the Zygerria Arc ended up pissing me off for the sole fact that Rex was there. Like I feel bad for Anakin and his trauma and issues, but also are we really gonna ignore the fact that Rex has always been a slave and his entire people are already in this exact situation, with the only difference being that most of them aren't actively being directly abused? And we're ignoring all that right after the "Clones Being Dehumanized and Treated as Objects" Arc? The arc where the clones basically realize "hey I think we might me slaves"? That arc?
If he weren't there, I wouldn't have cared as much. But the fact that everyone is going through slavery-related trauma and Rex, the resident already-enslaved-and-always-have-been guy, is completely ignored by the narrative makes me not care as much about the others' issues because we are completely glossing over the guy who will go right back to being enslaved even after the mission is over.
I don't know why the whole thing annoys me. I think it just gives me the same vibes as someone venting to their friend about their abusive childhood, but said friend not only also had an abusive childhood, but is currently experiencing domestic violence, and that's not even mentioned in the conversation at any point in time.
Does this make sense to anyone else? Am I just crazy? Or does anyone else sort of feel this way/understand what I'm talking about?

u know what would be a cool genshin fic idea? isekai/transmigrated reader, but instead of appearing within the general timeline, you come into the genshin world 500 years prior to the start of the storyline in khaenri'ah.
honestly it could be either a little before the cataclysm, giving enough time to delve into some relationship building + explore some world building with characters like dainsleif, traveller's sibling (which would probably be lumine bc i actually do like her as abyss sibling & aether as traveller), and npcs like halfdan (still crying over him to this day ;w;) and possibly the khaenri'ahn royal guards (assuming you either join them or have a good enough relationship with them), OR it could be you appear during the crisis, completely and utterly lost as to why you were brought amidst the chaos and bloodshed as you watch everything you barely knew about this nation crumble before your very eyes.
either route will still result in reader's existential crises and constant "why am i here? just to suffer?" monologues because really, who would be fine after going through that after coming from /our/ world? and not to mention you've had to endure the next 500 years wandering with no real set path because you don't know this world— this era of teyvat or of genshin. you're merely stuck, unable to die, and forced to live a life of uncertainty with no clear direction for you to go to.
despite it all, you've at least been able to see dain during this course. while your meetings pass far too quickly for your lonesome, and his solemn demeanour is something you're yet to be accustomed to after having been with him before the fall of khaenri'ah (assuming it's the route where you appear before the cataclysm), you're glad to see a familiar face every now and then. after the messy departure with the lumine who left for the abyss order, you've come to appreciate his quiet presence more and more each time.
and then you decide it might be time to settle. you soon realise it's difficult to do so when your lifespan has become far more than that of a human's — of a mortal's — and so you find yourself becoming used to staying in one place for a few years before setting off for the next. rinse and repeat. over and over. it's come to a point where you've witnessed the nations undergo various changes each time you visit. you know change is inevitable, and yet your heart stings each time you witness it; a testament to how the world is ever-changing, yet you're stuck in place as a bystander.
one thing you're grateful for, however, are the bonds you've established amid your back-and-forth over the centuries. from archons like zhongli and venti to long-life beings such as neuvillette and the adepti to regular mortals who have showed you kindness as if one of their own... you've grown to cherish those memories, often reminiscing them when the nights get too long and surroundings too quiet. it was difficult at first, and still is, but you've become used to the inevitable change and the passing of those you once knew.
and after 500 years, you find yourself face-to-face with one you haven't seen since before you appeared in this world; the protagonist of this world, and the one you eventually join in hopes of finally finding a means to an end, aether.
little side notes/extras:
from /our/ world, you would probably know the storyline from up to around current (5.0) or maybe a little after the fontaine aq conclusion. it gives a lot to work with, but you definitely won't remember a lot of the lore after so long other than some main events, especially since most of your knowledge is pretty irrelevant for the next 500 years,,,
i think it would be cool if you had an inteyvat on your person as a little homage of khaenri'ah, which may or may not invoke some opinions from certain characters (*cough* aether immediately being reminded of lumine and having an existential crisis *cough*)
post-cataclysm you would go through a, uhm, long phase of helplessness, wondering why you were even brought to this world so far back if you couldn't even make any contributions. it does eventually morph into a resolution to do what you can to help those you come across if it's within your capabilities, but the nightmares and helplessness come back every now and then as a reminder for what you can't do :D yippee :D
honestly i'm on the fence whether you would have a vision or some other type of abilities (think on the similar lines of aether/lumine's and dain's), but i think having some type of purification mechanic would be a must in your arsenal !! would definitely lead to some moments between you and characters like dain or zhongli who suffer from the erosion as you give them a slight reprieve from what rages within and corrodes them
a little self indulgent, but i'd like to think your first /proper/ meeting with zhongli happens during a lantern rite festival, wherein you're admiring the lanterns in the sky after making a wish of your own and he comes up from behind with "they're beautiful, wouldn't you say so?" and !!
also as for love interests, as much as i would love for human/mortal characters, a part of me feels like this story would be better suited for the immortal/long-life characters as love interests?? idk i feel like considering that 500 years is, well, a long time, the bonds you would have with them compared to characters like, say, alhaitham or diluc would be way too different ?? though i would definitely still add them as love interest bc i am a sucker for so many of the human characters ;w; it would also add to the angst and hurt/comfort ahahha...
anyway thank you for reading this massive brain dump of a fic bc i absolutely would put this as a long term project, and if u made it this far then i would like to say that dain solos—
#sophie talks : concepts <3#dont mind me i am just in HEAVY brainrot over this genshin x reader concept bc OURGH??? THE POSSIBILITIES??? THE LORE??? THE RELATIONSHIPS?#also exploring dynamics with the immortals/those with longer lifespans like zhongli; the adepti; neuvillette; the archons in general; DAIN#and lumine; and maybe fatui... hehe.... AND AETHER TOO#omg imagine pierro trying to convince u to join him in the fatui after having finally tracked u down after the cataclysm bc of ur frequent#changes from nation to nation only for u to turn him down saying u dont wish for further damnation. he leaves u alone and u think he wont#pester u anymore until u see him years later again and again and again; him with the same question and u with the same answer#BUT ALSO KHAENRI'AH WORLD BUILDING/EXPLORATION BUT ITS LITERALLY JUST LIKE WRITING A MEDIEVAL ROYAL AU RAAHHH#sir royal guard captain!dain interactions... the royal guards... adopted royal!lumine interactions bc ur just like her from another world#and tells u stories of her and aether & u grow closer and u travel with them before dain joins u both before the inevitable break up and#OMG WAIT MADAME PING DYNAMIC WHEN U BECOME FRIENDS WITH THE ADEPTI AND SHE JUST OFFERS U TEA AND A SHOULDER TO LEAN ON BC SHE KNOWS U SO WE#AND OHHHRHJFHJHGJF#cries. this fic would be a lot of emotional hurt/comfort and self acceptance for new life and reader will need a big fat long hug#anyway i will write this. one day. hopefully.
