For those following the SAG and WGA strikes there’s new shit a-brewing, this time targeting background actors (aka extras).
Some may know that one of the issues SAG is fighting is that studios want to take virtual scans of background actors and use them in perpetuity (meaning forever) without any additional compensation to those background actors. So you would just see a bunch of AI generated humans in future movies based off of a background actor that worked one day.
This is already shitty because working as an extra for 3 days on a union set (if you receive a union voucher each day) is one of the main ways to qualify for SAG eligibility. This means that a lot of actors working background do not yet have union protection and likely do not have an agent or manager to protect them. Disney has already allegedly told background actors to do this on the set of Wanda Vision: https://www.avclub.com/wandavision-background-actors-say-disney-scanned-them-1850709900
Here’s where it's worse.
There is one main company that supplies background actors for major union and non union productions. Central Casting. They love to brag about their very long influence in the industry - in old movies dating back to the 40s you can hear jokes about hiring extras from Central Casting.
Central Casting has been including an electronic document for all actors in their database to sign as part of onboarding. Signing it gives Central Casting the right to use your images, your videos, and YOUR LIKENESS in perpetuity, forever. They would OWN your likeness. Instead of it being a studio supplying the AI background actors, it would be Central Casting instead.
Receiving any work from Central Casting in the future is conditional upon signing it. No signature = no extra work = no extra income for union actors trying to make health insurance minimums, no union extra work for pre-SAG members.
SAG already reached out to Central Casting to tell them to stop. Central Casting refused.
Edit to say: this is not new. It’s part of actors onboarding and is called the Photo, Image, and Video Release. It’s phrased to sound like you are just giving them permission to use your image and video for CC’s website and promotional purposes. But the actual language is much broader. It's only recently being brought up as a point for discussion because some casting directors (who are generally supportive of the strike) started pointing it out.
Central Casting is owned by Entertainment Partners which is also a giant software conglomerate and owns a lot of the software used to organize background casting and pay actors. https://www.ep.com/company/about-us/

What is Dataflow?
This post is inspired by another post about the Crowd Strike IT disaster and a bunch of people being interested in what I mean by Dataflow. Dataflow is my absolute jam and I'm happy to answer as many questions as you like on it. I even put referential pictures in like I'm writing an article, what fun!
I'll probably split this into multiple parts because it'll be a huge post otherwise but here we go!
A Brief History
Our world is dependent on the flow of data. It exists in almost every aspect of our lives and has done so arguably for hundreds if not thousands of years.
At the end of the day, the flow of data is the flow of knowledge and information. Normally most of us refer to data in the context of computing technology (our phones, PCs, tablets etc) but, if we want to get historical about it, the invention of writing and the invention of the Printing Press were great leaps forward in how we increased the flow of information.
Modern Day IT exists for one reason - To support the flow of data.
Whether it's buying something at a shop, sitting staring at an excel sheet at work, or watching Netflix - All of the technology you interact with is to support the flow of data.
Understanding and managing the flow of data is as important to getting us to where we are right now as when we first learned to control and manage water to provide irrigation for early farming and settlement.
Engineering Rigor
When the majority of us turn on the tap to have a drink or take a shower, we expect water to come out. We trust that the water is clean, and we trust that our homes can receive a steady supply of water.
Most of us trust our central heating (insert boiler joke here) and the plugs/sockets in our homes to provide gas and electricity. The reason we trust all of these flows is because there's been rigorous engineering standards built up over decades and centuries.
For example, Scottish Water will understand every component part that makes up their water pipelines. Those pipes, valves, fitting etc will comply with a national, or in some cases international, standard. These companies have diagrams that clearly map all of this out, mostly because they have to legally but also because it also vital for disaster recovery and other compliance issues.
Modern IT
And this is where modern day IT has problems. I'm not saying that modern day tech is a pile of shit. We all have great phones, our PCs can play good games, but it's one thing to craft well-designed products and another thing entirely to think about they all work together.
Because that is what's happened over the past few decades of IT. Organisations have piled on the latest plug-and-play technology (Software or Hardware) and they've built up complex legacy systems that no one really knows how they all work together. They've lost track of how data flows across their organisation which makes the work of cybersecurity, disaster recovery, compliance and general business transformation teams a nightmare.
Some of these systems are entirely dependent on other systems to operate. But that dependency isn't documented. The vast majority of digital transformation projects fail because they get halfway through and realise they hadn't factored in a system that they thought was nothing but was vital to the organisation running.
And this isn't just for-profit organisations, this is the health services, this is national infrastructure, it's everyone.
There's not yet a single standard that says "This is how organisations should control, manage and govern their flows of data."
Why is that relevant to the companies that were affected by Crowd Strike? Would it have stopped it?
Maybe, maybe not. But considering the global impact, it doesn't look like many organisations were prepared for the possibility of a huge chunk of their IT infrastructure going down.
Understanding dataflows help with the preparation for events like this, so organisations can move to mitigate them, and also the recovery side when they do happen. Organisations need to understand which systems are a priority to get back operational and which can be left.
The problem I'm seeing from a lot of organisations at the moment is that they don't know which systems to recover first, and are losing money and reputation while they fight to get things back online. A lot of them are just winging it.
Conclusion of Part 1
Next time I can totally go into diagramming if any of you are interested in that.
How can any organisation actually map their dataflow and what things need to be considered to do so. It'll come across like common sense, but that's why an actual standard is so desperately needed!

Hybrid sorter hub and its three branches - read more about its structure, how it works, and the development process below the cut!
General Structure
For this survival world, my friends and I decided to split up our resources in three different branches, all connected by one central hub. The fourth "branch" is an access hallway (not shown) that contains minecart rail stations. As of now, only one station is built, but the hallway also contains a room where any unsorted items flow out to - this room also contains its own sorter input!
You might notice redstone bulbs in the copper pillars along each hallway - activating these will reveal both a crafting table and stonecutter at the base of the pillar for easy crafting access. Also, the three branches have their own quirks since they were each organized and completed by a different builder - see if you can spot any differences (aside from the items being sorted)!
Redstone & Underbelly
During development, we decided that the sorter didn't need to be fully automatic like our last one - instead, we wanted a way to combine automatic and manual sorting, hence this hybrid design. Only the top rows (and about a dozen barrels in the middle and bottom rows) along each branch leverage automatic sorting - this was to simplify the sorter design and allow for better scalability. This is also why some of our most plentiful items are placed on the top row. We love Minecraft updates, but adding new blocks and items to a sorter can be tough!
Including manual sorting allows us to store unstackables as well as different kinds of items in the same barrel. Although there are some great designs out there for unstackable or multi-item sorters, we wanted this build to be our own and not have to worry about chunk alignment, minecarts, or having to construct it with build assist tools. If you're interested in the redstone for our automatic sorter modules, check out this post about our previous sorter! Our current one applies the concepts in similar ways.
Like our last sorter, @shewholistens has been doing an amazing job standardizing and decorating the Underbelly, which is still in progress. Having all of our sorter modules and hopper lines accessible (and good-looking) is such a boon, especially when doing work behind the scenes. Currently, the Underbelly is accessible via hidden doors at the end of each branch!
Development process
This was a big project. Since building our last sorter, we learned a lot about what works and what doesn't, and decided to carry that knowledge over to this one. In our new world, we put together a document detailing things we wanted in our sorter and how they would all fit together. These included item organization, a hybrid sorting system, input and output chests, crafting access points, a player-friendly underbelly, and - of course - decoration.
This prep work was by far the most important part of the sorter building process, and it allowed us to break the project into small, manageable pieces. It reminded me a lot of the work I do as a software engineer, and it was so exciting to see the sorter get built module by module, branch by branch.
Before I forget - huge thanks to @indigoforiver for convincing me that we needed a sorter! Our chest/shulker monster was... very bad...

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee fired off two dozen requests Wednesday morning pressing federal agency leaders for information about plans to install AI software throughout federal agencies amid the ongoing cuts to the government's workforce.
The barrage of inquiries follow recent reporting by WIRED and The Washington Post concerning efforts by Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to automate tasks with a variety of proprietary AI tools and access sensitive data.
“The American people entrust the federal government with sensitive personal information related to their health, finances, and other biographical information on the basis that this information will not be disclosed or improperly used without their consent,” the requests read, “including through the use of an unapproved and unaccountable third-party AI software.”
The requests, first obtained by WIRED, are signed by Gerald Connolly, a Democratic congressman from Virginia.
The central purpose of the requests is to press the agencies into demonstrating that any potential use of AI is legal and that steps are being taken to safeguard Americans’ private data. The Democrats also want to know whether any use of AI will financially benefit Musk, who founded xAI and whose troubled electric car company, Tesla, is working to pivot toward robotics and AI. The Democrats are further concerned, Connolly says, that Musk could be using his access to sensitive government data for personal enrichment, leveraging the data to “supercharge” his own proprietary AI model, known as Grok.
In the requests, Connolly notes that federal agencies are “bound by multiple statutory requirements in their use of AI software,” pointing chiefly to the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, which works to standardize the government’s approach to cloud services and ensure AI-based tools are properly assessed for security risks. He also points to the Advancing American AI Act, which requires federal agencies to “prepare and maintain an inventory of the artificial intelligence use cases of the agency,” as well as “make agency inventories available to the public.”
Documents obtained by WIRED last week show that DOGE operatives have deployed a proprietary chatbot called GSAi to approximately 1,500 federal workers. The GSA oversees federal government properties and supplies information technology services to many agencies.
A memo obtained by WIRED reporters shows employees have been warned against feeding the software any controlled unclassified information. Other agencies, including the departments of Treasury and Health and Human Services, have considered using a chatbot, though not necessarily GSAi, according to documents viewed by WIRED.
WIRED has also reported that the United States Army is currently using software dubbed CamoGPT to scan its records systems for any references to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. An Army spokesperson confirmed the existence of the tool but declined to provide further information about how the Army plans to use it.
In the requests, Connolly writes that the Department of Education possesses personally identifiable information on more than 43 million people tied to federal student aid programs. “Due to the opaque and frenetic pace at which DOGE seems to be operating,” he writes, “I am deeply concerned that students’, parents’, spouses’, family members’ and all other borrowers’ sensitive information is being handled by secretive members of the DOGE team for unclear purposes and with no safeguards to prevent disclosure or improper, unethical use.” The Washington Post previously reported that DOGE had begun feeding sensitive federal data drawn from record systems at the Department of Education to analyze its spending.
Education secretary Linda McMahon said Tuesday that she was proceeding with plans to fire more than a thousand workers at the department, joining hundreds of others who accepted DOGE “buyouts” last month. The Education Department has lost nearly half of its workforce—the first step, McMahon says, in fully abolishing the agency.
“The use of AI to evaluate sensitive data is fraught with serious hazards beyond improper disclosure,” Connolly writes, warning that “inputs used and the parameters selected for analysis may be flawed, errors may be introduced through the design of the AI software, and staff may misinterpret AI recommendations, among other concerns.”
He adds: “Without clear purpose behind the use of AI, guardrails to ensure appropriate handling of data, and adequate oversight and transparency, the application of AI is dangerous and potentially violates federal law.”

Ganesh Shankar, CEO & Co-Founder of Responsive – Interview Series
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/ganesh-shankar-ceo-co-founder-of-responsive-interview-series/
Ganesh Shankar, CEO & Co-Founder of Responsive – Interview Series

Ganesh Shankar, CEO and Co-Founder of Responsive, is an experienced product manager with a background in leading product development and software implementations for Fortune 500 enterprises. During his time in product management, he observed inefficiencies in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process—formal documents organizations use to solicit bids from vendors, often requiring extensive, detailed responses. Managing RFPs traditionally involves multiple stakeholders and repetitive tasks, making the process time-consuming and complex.
Founded in 2015 as RFPIO, Responsive was created to streamline RFP management through more efficient software solutions. The company introduced an automated approach to enhance collaboration, reduce manual effort, and improve efficiency. Over time, its technology expanded to support other complex information requests, including Requests for Information (RFIs), Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs), and security questionnaires.
Today, as Responsive, the company provides solutions for strategic response management, helping organizations accelerate growth, mitigate risk, and optimize their proposal and information request processes.
What inspired you to start Responsive, and how did you identify the gap in the market for response management software?
My co-founders and I founded Responsive in 2015 after facing our own struggles with the RFP response process at the software company we were working for at the time. Although not central to our job functions, we dedicated considerable time assisting the sales team with requests for proposals (RFPs), often feeling underappreciated despite our vital role in securing deals. Frustrated with the lack of technology to make the RFP process more efficient, we decided to build a better solution. Fast forward nine years, and we’ve grown to nearly 500 employees, serve over 2,000 customers—including 25 Fortune 100 companies—and support nearly 400,000 users worldwide.
How did your background in product management and your previous roles influence the creation of Responsive?
As a product manager, I was constantly pulled by the Sales team into the RFP response process, spending almost a third of my time supporting sales instead of focusing on my core product management responsibilities. My two co-founders experienced a similar issue in their technology and implementation roles. We recognized this was a widespread problem with no existing technology solution, so we leveraged our almost 50 years of combined experience to create Responsive. We saw an opportunity to fundamentally transform how organizations share information, starting with managing and responding to complex proposal requests.
Responsive has evolved significantly since its founding in 2015. How do you maintain the balance between staying true to your original vision and adapting to market changes?
First, we’re meticulous about finding and nurturing talent that embodies our passion – essentially cloning our founding spirit across the organization. As we’ve scaled, it’s become critical to hire managers and team members who can authentically represent our core cultural values and commitment.
At the same time, we remain laser-focused on customer feedback. We document every piece of input, regardless of its size, recognizing that these insights create patterns that help us navigate product development, market positioning, and any uncertainty in the industry. Our approach isn’t about acting on every suggestion, but creating a comprehensive understanding of emerging trends across a variety of sources.
We also push ourselves to think beyond our immediate industry and to stay curious about adjacent spaces. Whether in healthcare, technology, or other sectors, we continually find inspiration for innovation. This outside-in perspective allows us to continually raise the bar, inspiring ideas from unexpected places and keeping our product dynamic and forward-thinking.
What metrics or success indicators are most important to you when evaluating the platform’s impact on customers?
When evaluating Responsive’s impact, our primary metric is how we drive customer revenue. We focus on two key success indicators: top-line revenue generation and operational efficiency. On the efficiency front, we aim to significantly reduce RFP response time – for many, we reduce it by 40%. This efficiency enables our customers to pursue more opportunities, ultimately accelerating their revenue generation potential.
How does Responsive leverage AI and machine learning to provide a competitive edge in the response management software market?
We leverage AI and machine learning to streamline response management in three key ways. First, our generative AI creates comprehensive proposal drafts in minutes, saving time and effort. Second, our Ask solution provides instant access to vetted organizational knowledge, enabling faster, more accurate responses. Third, our Profile Center helps InfoSec teams quickly find and manage security content.
With over $600 billion in proposals managed through the Responsive platform and four million Q&A pairs processed, our AI delivers intelligent recommendations and deep insights into response patterns. By automating complex tasks while keeping humans in control, we help organizations grow revenue, reduce risk, and respond more efficiently.
What differentiates Responsive’s platform from other solutions in the industry, particularly in terms of AI capabilities and integrations?
Since 2015, AI has been at the core of Responsive, powering a platform trusted by over 2,000 global customers. Our solution supports a wide range of RFx use cases, enabling seamless collaboration, workflow automation, content management, and project management across teams and stakeholders.
With key AI capabilities—like smart recommendations, an AI assistant, grammar checks, language translation, and built-in prompts—teams can deliver high-quality RFPs quickly and accurately.
Responsive also offers unmatched native integrations with leading apps, including CRM, cloud storage, productivity tools, and sales enablement. Our customer value programs include APMP-certified consultants, Responsive Academy courses, and a vibrant community of 1,500+ customers sharing insights and best practices.
Can you share insights into the development process behind Responsive’s core features, such as the AI recommendation engine and automated RFP responses?
Responsive AI is built on the foundation of accurate, up-to-date content, which is critical to the effectiveness of our AI recommendation engine and automated RFP responses. AI alone cannot resolve conflicting or incomplete data, so we’ve prioritized tools like hierarchical tags and robust content management to help users organize and maintain their information. By combining generative AI with this reliable data, our platform empowers teams to generate fast, high-quality responses while preserving credibility. AI serves as an assistive tool, with human oversight ensuring accuracy and authenticity, while features like the Ask product enable seamless access to trusted knowledge for tackling complex projects.
How have advancements in cloud computing and digitization influenced the way organizations approach RFPs and strategic response management?
Advancements in cloud computing have enabled greater efficiency, collaboration, and scalability. Cloud-based platforms allow teams to centralize content, streamline workflows, and collaborate in real time, regardless of location. This ensures faster turnaround times and more accurate, consistent responses.
Digitization has also enhanced how organizations manage and access their data, making it easier to leverage AI-powered tools like recommendation engines and automated responses. With these advancements, companies can focus more on strategy and personalization, responding to RFPs with greater speed and precision while driving better outcomes.
Responsive has been instrumental in helping companies like Microsoft and GEODIS streamline their RFP processes. Can you share a specific success story that highlights the impact of your platform?
Responsive has played a key role in supporting Microsoft’s sales staff by managing and curating 20,000 pieces of proposal content through its Proposal Resource Library, powered by Responsive AI. This technology enabled Microsoft’s proposal team to contribute $10.4 billion in revenue last fiscal year. Additionally, by implementing Responsive, Microsoft saved its sellers 93,000 hours—equivalent to over $17 million—that could be redirected toward fostering stronger customer relationships.
As another example of Responsive providing measurable impact, our customer Netsmart significantly improved their response time and efficiency by implementing Responsive’s AI capabilities. They achieved a 10X faster response time, increased proposal submissions by 67%, and saw a 540% growth in user adoption. Key features such as AI Assistant, Requirements Analysis, and Auto Respond played crucial roles in these improvements. The integration with Salesforce and the establishment of a centralized Content Library further streamlined their processes, resulting in a 93% go-forward rate for RFPs and a 43% reduction in outdated content. Overall, Netsmart’s use of Responsive’s AI-driven platform led to substantial time savings, enhanced content accuracy, and increased productivity across their proposal management operations.
JAGGAER, another Responsive customer, achieved a double-digit win-rate increase and 15X ROI by using Responsive’s AI for content moderation, response creation, and Requirements Analysis, which improved decision-making and efficiency. User adoption tripled, and the platform streamlined collaboration and content management across multiple teams.
Where do you see the response management industry heading in the next five years, and how is Responsive positioned to lead in this space?
In the next five years, I see the response management industry being transformed by AI agents, with a focus on keeping humans in the loop. While we anticipate around 80 million jobs being replaced, we’ll simultaneously see 180 million new jobs created—a net positive for our industry.
Responsive is uniquely positioned to lead this transformation. We’ve processed over $600 billion in proposals and built a database of almost 4 million Q&A pairs. Our massive dataset allows us to understand complex patterns and develop AI solutions that go beyond simple automation.
Our approach is to embrace AI’s potential, finding opportunities for positive outcomes rather than fearing disruption. Companies with robust market intelligence, comprehensive data, and proven usage will emerge as leaders, and Responsive is at the forefront of that wave. The key is not just implementing AI, but doing so strategically with rich, contextual data that enables meaningful insights and efficiency.
Thank you for the great interview, readers who wish to learn more should visit Responsive,

Has Cyberfeminism(s) impacted feminism as a movement?
Cyberfeminism as a whole has changed the landscape of the feminist movement as a whole. The movement was born out of the theory that the internet can be a place for all women to transform their lives and feel liberated. Using the internet to expand the ideology of the feminist movement to more women. Cyberfeminism(s) has been able to achieve a more widespread display of feminism but has some issues. The movement has been critiqued by many scholars for a multitude of things. Some scholars touch on Cyberfeminism(s) not having a grounding point for its ideology and are described as “just a developing theory”. Other scholars will focus more on the movements sporadic and contradicting points. This coupled with the assumed “educated, white, upper-middle-class, English-speaking, culturally sophisticated readership” has thrown the movement into this weird spot. A spot where it is,by nature, excluding some women by making it inaccessible. I think cyberfeminism(s) has also pushed it to an audience (men) that may have not seen the movement or already had opinions on the movement. Typically an audience who is the oppressor of women. This new found audience has belittled the movement and deduced it to nothing more than “crying” or being “too sensitive”. Playing into the point of why the movement is needed. Which has impacted the feminist movement.
Can the use of Ai technologies be unbiased?
Ai and its many implications have been promised the future of the world and a way for mankind to make life easier. While it has the possibility to be true, we have to ask the question of easier for who exactly? For example in America, our healthcare system has adopted the use of AI to determine care for people and whether they need it. Studies have shown that people who spend more or have more access to healthcare that they get the care they need more often than others. Typically people who have more access to healthcare are white people. Basically implying that since white people have access to healthcare they are determined that they will get said care. While others who don’t have the access will get denied more because of the lack of frequency. Ai as it is built gathers information from other users on the internet (people) and by nature is a product of its environment. Then a question arises will AI ever be able to be unbiased sometime in the future? While we may not be able to answer that question as of now, we can speculate. With the way that AI is set up and is being used it is most likely not going to be able to be as unbiased as they say.
How has the internet helped the anti-I.C.E movement?
The media has always been a powerful tool in the fight against injustice, helping to raise awareness and mobilize people. In today’s world, social media makes it easier than ever to share information and organize movements. A recent example of this was the protests against Donald Trump’s anti-immigration policies. Social media platforms played a central role in organizing and spreading the message, with people across the U.S. coming together to protest I.C.E. For me, TikTok has been a primary source of media, and I saw numerous videos documenting how the protests managed to shut down a major highway in Los Angeles. Most of the content I encountered was filled with positive support and messages of solidarity. However, as is often the case, there was also a darker side, with some videos attracting racist and harmful comments. This duality highlights both the power and the negative aspects of social media platforms.
How has facial recognition software been used to target minority communities?
Facial recognition technology is heavily influenced by political perspectives, especially when it’s used by police to track down criminals. This raises serious concerns for minority communities, as one of the biggest issues with the technology is its inability to accurately recognize people from diverse racial backgrounds. A 2019 study examining over 100 facial recognition systems found that they performed significantly worse on Black and Asian faces, as highlighted by Kashmir Hill in her article "Another Arrest, and Jail Time, Due to a Bad Facial Recognition Match." This flaw has led to innocent individuals—particularly those from minority groups—being wrongly arrested and imprisoned. Hill details the case of Nijeer Parks, who ended up spending "10 days in jail and paid around $5,000 to defend himself" after being falsely identified by facial recognition software. Not everyone has the resources to fight such charges, and the increasing use of this technology could lead to more wrongful incarcerations and innocent people facing time in prison.

Boosting Productivity with Notion: Essential Tips for Software Developers
Notion is a powerful tool for organizing and boosting productivity. For software developers, it’s especially valuable, as it combines note-taking, project management, and collaboration features in one place. By setting up a dedicated workspace in Notion, developers can easily track tasks, store code snippets, and manage projects. This post will walk you through essential tips to make the most of Notion, helping you streamline your workflow and stay focused on coding.
Setting Up Your Workspace
Start by creating a central workspace in Notion for all your development needs. This workspace can be your main hub, where you keep project overviews, tasks, and quick links to important resources. Having everything in one place saves time and keeps you focused.
One helpful feature is Notion’s code blocks. You can use these to store code snippets, commands, or notes on syntax that you frequently need. By organizing snippets within your workspace, you can quickly reference them without searching through multiple files or tabs. Notion’s formatting options allow you to highlight code, making it both readable and easy to locate. Whether you’re working solo or with a team, having your snippets neatly stored in one place improves efficiency and reduces the chances of forgetting key code pieces.
For project tracking, set up a database to manage tasks, bugs, or new feature requests. You can customize fields such as task status, priority level, and due dates to match your development process. With Notion’s database, you can organize tasks into different views: list, table, or board, depending on your preference. The board view, for example, works well for Kanban-style project management, letting you drag tasks between columns like “To-Do,” “In Progress,” and “Completed.” This flexibility helps you stay organized, keep track of priorities, and adapt easily as your project evolves.
Project Management and Tracking Progress
Notion makes project management easy with its flexible organization tools. You can create task templates for different types of projects, saving time and ensuring consistency. Templates allow you to pre-fill fields like priority, due dates, or project stages, so every task stays organized from the start.
Using Kanban boards in Notion is a popular way to track progress. These boards let you visually move tasks through stages like "To-Do," "In Progress," and "Done." It’s simple to drag and drop tasks as they progress, giving you a clear view of what’s happening. This approach works well for sprint planning, daily task tracking, and even bug resolution.
For longer-term planning, Notion’s timeline and calendar views are great tools. You can schedule tasks by week or month, set milestones, and adjust dates as needed. These views help you track deadlines and keep everyone aligned on project timelines. Here are some common recommendations to help you get the most out of project management in Notion:
Use templates: Set up reusable templates for tasks and projects to save time.
Organize by priority: Add fields for priority levels to keep high-impact tasks front and center.
Combine views: Switch between Kanban, timeline, and calendar views for different project stages.
Set milestones: Mark key dates and project goals to track overall progress.
Assign tasks: Tag team members directly in tasks for clear accountability.
Enhancing Collaboration
Notion is a great tool for team collaboration. You can easily share pages, assign tasks, and tag team members in comments. This makes communication faster and more organized, with all discussions and updates in one place. Real-time editing allows everyone to work together on documents, reducing back-and-forth emails and keeping everyone aligned.
Integrating Notion with other tools also boosts teamwork. For example, syncing Notion with GitHub or Slack keeps projects updated across platforms, so team members stay informed. Additionally, creating a shared knowledge base in Notion helps everyone access important resources, documentation, and project details. This organized approach makes collaboration smoother, keeps everyone on the same page, and enhances productivity.
Boosting Personal Productivity
Notion can be a powerful tool for organizing your daily tasks. You can create to-do lists, set daily goals, and track progress all in one place. By having a clear outline of tasks each day, it’s easier to stay focused and prioritize what matters most. This setup helps keep you on track and reduces distractions.
Using Notion as a knowledge hub is also effective. You can store notes, tutorials, and helpful links in organized folders or databases. This way, you don’t have to search through endless bookmarks or files when you need information. Having all your resources in one place saves time and keeps learning materials easily accessible.
For long-term goals, Notion’s habit trackers and progress checklists can be helpful. You can set up goals for learning new skills, completing courses, or achieving specific project milestones. Tracking your progress regularly gives you a sense of accomplishment and keeps you motivated. With Notion’s customizable templates, you can easily adapt these tools to fit your personal productivity style.
Advanced Tips for Power Users
For those looking to take Notion to the next level, there are some powerful features to explore. The Notion API allows you to automate tasks and integrate with other tools. This is especially useful for developers who want to pull data from Notion or update entries automatically. With the API, you can streamline workflows and reduce manual work.
Embedding external content is another useful trick. You can embed Google Docs, Figma files, or other resources directly into Notion pages. This keeps all essential materials in one place, making it easy to access everything without switching between apps. Here are some more advanced tips to boost your productivity in Notion:
Use database relations: Link related databases to organize complex information.
Create rollups: Ssummarize information across linked databases for quick insights.
Automate with the API: Connect Notion with Zapier or custom scripts for automation.
Customize templates: Design templates for repetitive tasks, saving time on setup.
Set up custom shortcuts: Use keyboard shortcuts to navigate and edit quickly.
With these advanced tips, you can make Notion an even more powerful tool for managing projects, tracking tasks, and staying organized.
Summing Up
Notion offers a versatile, powerful platform for developers looking to streamline their workflow and boost productivity. By setting up an organized workspace, managing projects efficiently, and exploring advanced features, you can make Notion work for your unique needs. From tracking daily tasks to collaborating with your team, Notion keeps everything in one place, helping you stay focused and on top of your goals.
Whether you’re just starting or looking to maximize your Notion skills, these strategies can make a meaningful impact on your productivity. Embrace the flexibility and tools Notion provides, and tailor it to support your personal and professional growth.

What Is an Workspace Used For?
A workspace is a designated area, physical or digital, where individuals or teams perform their tasks, collaborate, and access the resources they need. Workspaces are essential for productivity and are designed to organize tools, projects, and workflows effectively. Here are common uses for workspaces:
1. Organizing Work and Projects
Workspaces allow people to organize tasks, files, and tools in a single location. For instance, a digital workspace in project management software like Asana or Trello keeps all project details, timelines, and task assignments in one view, making it easier to manage progress.
2. Facilitating Collaboration
In team settings, workspaces provide a shared environment where team members can collaborate on documents, track project progress, and communicate. Platforms like Microsoft Teams or Slack provide digital workspaces where team members can chat, share files, and work together in real time, regardless of location.
3. Enhancing Focus and Productivity
Workspaces are designed to reduce distractions and make tools readily accessible, allowing individuals to focus on their work. In a physical setting, this could mean an office or dedicated desk area with all necessary equipment. Digitally, this could mean a customized dashboard that houses frequently used apps and resources.
4. Storing and Accessing Information
Workspaces often include storage features where teams can save and organize files, documents, and other resources. This centralization ensures that everyone has easy access to the information they need, reducing time spent searching for files.
5. Streamlining Communication
Communication is smoother within a workspace, where integrated chat, video conferencing, and commenting features allow team members to connect directly. Many workspaces, such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, combine communication and productivity tools, facilitating both synchronous and asynchronous communication.
6. Managing Workflow and Task Delegation
Workspaces provide tools for task assignment, tracking, and deadline management, which help keep projects moving forward. By setting clear workflows, workspaces enable managers and teams to break down complex projects into actionable tasks and assign responsibilities.
7. Improving Flexibility in Remote Work
With the rise of remote work, digital workspaces have become essential for flexible working arrangements. Cloud-based platforms allow employees to access their workspace from anywhere, giving teams the freedom to work outside a traditional office while staying connected.
Key Benefits of a Workspace
Centralization: Combines resources, tools, and information in one accessible location.
Efficiency: Reduces time spent searching for tools or information.
Adaptability: Suits various needs, whether for individual focus or team collaboration.
Enhanced Organization: Keeps work structured, whether in a physical office, a digital platform, or a combination of both.
In summary, a workspace—whether physical, digital, or hybrid—serves as a structured environment to organize tasks, collaborate, store information, and manage workflow, ultimately boosting productivity and efficiency.
