Shisui, used to having the strongest Mangekyō known to man: What could a snake with creepy eyes do to m- *gets petrified*
Ino, her crying stopping as soon as shisui is cured: THAT WAS SO CRINGE FAIL, YOU'LL NEVER LIVE THIS DOWN YOU DUMB BITCH
Healer lady behind them: well they seem like very nice friends
Hermione recovering in the next bed: ?????
(also i love the idea that shisui is actually technically failing all of his classes but he's academically the top of his year because yes he is getting perfect results and writing an essay is all about memory recall and clear structure but.... Um. The actual spell-wand bit? Bullshit, shisui is actually just shaping his magic like it's chakra and pretending the spell works 🤣 no one but flitwick has caught on yet and he's too fascinated to get him to stop.
Hermione: use a stunner!
Shisui: why can't i just kill them again?)

this is hilarious tho because this is from book 2. so that means that canonically Harry Potter, the Weasleys, Peter Pettigrew, and Lord Voldemort (in Horcrux form) all took a car trip together.

I want a Good!Tom Riddle that is NOT Tom X Harry!
I recently read Chamber of Secrets for the first time and, as someone who watched the movies first, I was genuinely surprised about how much I relate to Ginny Weasley!
Tom Riddle is incredibly charming and, just like little Ginny, I completely fell for it (even though I knew he was Voldemort all along). I just couldn't help it, he plays the role of the sweet, innocent Golden Boy too well!! I genuinely felt sorry for him when he started blushing while talking about the orphanage he lived in 💔
Obviously it's just a facade, a mask he wears to manipulate people and not his real self. I'm not at all trying to somehow justify the actions of Lord Voldemort. I'm just saying that, like Ginny and Harry, I fell for him.
But when I decide to search online for Alternative Universes where he was actually this prince charming with a heart of gold (*hyperbole*) that he pretended to be, I only found disgusting Tomarry smut.
I do understand that this is a crack ship that shouldn't be taken seriously, but damn, I must say I'm deeply disappointed and sad. Apparently, Tom Marvolo Riddle can only be "good" when the author wants him to fuck Harry James Potter.
And those fanfiction don't even base his "good side" on what we actually see him performing in the book, but apply the most generic and cliche 'cold, no feelings boyfriend and only y/n can made him love again' personality, but y/n is just called Harry.
I'm deeply mad at this fandom. Tom Riddle could be such a layered and complex characters if we consider his Golden Boy Persona as real, or at least something he's trying to be.
I know that J.K. Rowling dives more deep into his past in later books and I currently only read books 1 and 2, but from I could see, good!Tom Riddle (canon based + a bit of my headcanons): Comes from a negligent (possibly abusive) household that he much rather not go back to;
Tries to be the perfect boy in school, in a desperate quest for acceptance;
Tries to do what he judges right, even if it hurts other people or himself, it's for the greater good;
Does not have actual friends because he can't bond with people (and some people think he's just a show off);
Is a Teacher's Pet because he subconsciously wants validation;
Spent 5 years trying to learn more about who he and his mother's family are;
(Probably has a pet Basilisk — who might or not have killed Myrtle);
Gets along better with snakes than humans, because he doesn't need to try so hard around them.
Speaks Parseltongue in his sleep.
I'm fully aware that it also sounds very cliche, and I the need to say that as I, myself, don't ship Tom and Harry at all, I'm not here to hate this ship or on its shippers. “Ship and let ship.„ You do you, guys. I can understand how the whole Dark Mirror situation could have been appealing to some.
I just wanted to vocalize my frustrations about this damn ship basically monopolizing the "Good Tom Riddle" tag on Ao3.
I'd love fanfiction recommendations about it if you have some <3
(I also think we should talk about more about the friendship between Tom Riddle and Ginny Weasley, but this is a talk for another post. Anyway, if you got some platonic recommend for them, I'd love to read! <3)
For the love of Merlin, fanon is not canon and this doesn't justify Voldemort's actions at all.
Love ya!

Book Two, Parseltongue
Tumblr media
After a year that could only be described as normal - by Hogwarts standards at least - Harry goes back to the Dursleys for the summer, and comes back to school at the start of term changed in ways his friends can’t hope to understand. Students start getting petrified at Hogwarts, and all signs are pointing to the boy that already has blood on his hands. Also there’s a giant snake roaming the pipes.
What could possibly go wrong?

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling
Tumblr media
Image taken from Jactionary
Rating: 5 / 5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" is a masterpiece that stands out as my favourite entry in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. This third instalment takes the wizarding world to new heights, delivering an enchanting blend of mystery, magic, and character development that captivated me instantly.
One of the most remarkable aspects of this book is how it effortlessly evolved from the more childish beginning of "Philosopher's Stone" into a darker and more complex narrative. The story takes a much more mature turn, delving into themes of the past, friendship, and identity, which made it relatable and engaging to read this book growing up alongside Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
Rowling's world-building continued to amaze me, with the introduction of the Marauder's Mapa and new creatures such as Hippogriffs, which added intrigue and depth to the Hogwarts setting. The expansion of the wizarding world with locations like the Shrieking Shack and Hogsmeade added layers to the story, which made the universe feel more lived-in and expansive.
The character development in this novel is nothing short of extraordinary. Harry, Ron, and Hermione all face growth and personal challenges, and their evolving friendship is a central theme. Harry's struggle to come to terms with his history and identity is particularly relatable and poignant, making him a more sympathetic and well-rounded character.
One of the most memorable and my favourite, aspects of the book is the introduction of Remus Lupin and Sirius Black, two complex and multi-dimensional characters who challenge the preconceived notions of evil and good in the wizarding world. Their presence in the story added ambiguity that elevated the storyline even more.
The plot itself is a thrilling rollercoaster ride, filled with unexpected twists and turns. The mystery surrounding Black's true intentions and the truth about what happened to Harry's parents kept me on the edge of my seat. The revelation about the time-travel element and the Marauder's Map added complexity that further showcased Rowling's storytelling prowess.
Furthermore, "Prisoner of Azkaban" perfectly addressed themes of injustice and the consequences of one's actions, as exemplified by the wrongly accused Sirius Black. It teaches valuable life lessons about forgiveness, empathy, and the importance of looking beyond appearances.
In terms of criticism, it is difficult to find fault with "Prisoner of Azkaban". You could argue that the time-travel angle can be confusing, but it actually adds to the story's complexity and richness. Additionally, while the book is darker than its predecessors, it is precisely this evolution that made it so compelling for me.
In conclusion, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" successfully takes the series to a new level of maturity while retaining the magical charm that has enchanted me from the beginning. This book is not just a pivotal moment in the Harry Potter series; it is a timeless classic that continues to resonate with me to this day.

Carry on.
#The other 7 tabs were also H2O related. Namely Max and Gracie's pages as well as Charlotte's#I also had a really funny page open that described mako island completely incorrectly? Describing lost ruins from a bygone civilization#Scattered across the island. Which I guess could technically be from Mako Island of Secrets (with the merman chamber) but like...#The images they attached were of old decaying bridges and temples so I don't think so!#This fic has been a journey and a half#Season 2 is suddenly at least 5 episodes longer#In my defense I really think it'll be worth it for the payoff at the end. I hope.#I'm giving the girlies (me) everything they've (I've) ever wanted#Cruddy rambles#... It is essentially just the show but Lewis is a fish now#I love all the other merman Lewis fics too but they do tend to deviate from canon a lot. Which isn't a bad thing!! Just not what I'm vibing#With atm so I'm writing what I want#I mean it is a whole rewrite so deviating from canon is implied but y'know what I mean? I just want s2 but with a few tiny details changed#A lot of them tend to be removed from the '[generally] slice of life but with mermaids' style of canon#Which is what I'm really vibing with atm as I'm currently in a tumultuous period of my life#So like absolutely no hate to those styles. I fucking adore them (and am heartbroken one author who posted recently never came back after#I posted a comment on their work talking about MA Zewis 😭😭😭) because holy shit their stuff slaps hard as hell and I love all of them#I'm the number 1 merman Lewis fan#I Stan every single person who has posted art or writing for that style of au#Just to make it absolutely fuckin clear that I mean no hate whatsoever. I just wanna throw my own hat into the ring yknow?

OK, so y'all hear me out. Does anyone else think that it's a tad bit sketchy that the Weasleys won the lottery right after the second year? Like Ginny was targeted that year, that much everyone knows and done so by the Malfoys. Harry put this together and he confronted Malfoy about it. (Harry also told Ron who should have told his family.) So isn't it sketchy that they won the lottery? And again everyone knows that the Malfoys have their fingers deep in the ministry of magic. So obviously the Malfoy are trying to cover this up with bribery. But honestly, now I'm thinking about if the adult Weasleys knew about it, like did they put this together? and if so does that mean that they willingly accepted a bribery bout the almost murder of their daughter? Because as far as I'm aware Ginny got no help other than a visit to the SCHOOL NURSE. As far as I'm aware the Malfoys were never punished for that, and like sure people watched them more closely but they were already being watched from the war. So yeah that's my thoughts on it. If someone else has already pointed this out could y'all let me know? Also, I haven't slept in 24 hours so ignore any grammar mistakes and just let me know.

AU where somehow Ginny never made it out of the Chamber of Secrets.
She didn't die. But the diary was never destroyed.
Perhaps Riddle set the basilisk on Harry without revealing himself to him. I don't know.
Harry can't find Ginny, who under Riddle's influence has hidden herself deep within the Chamber. He goes back to get Ron to help, perhaps to get more people, to tell them that he's managed to defeat the monster.
Only they can't find Ginny. She's still possessed.

Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen's chambers in the Red Keep were a sanctuary of silk and velvet, where whispered secrets echoed in the tapestries and the scent of jasmine lingered in the air. From her window, Y/N watched the city of King's Landing bustle and buzz with life below, the setting sun casting a fiery glow over the rooftops. It was here, amidst the opulence of her mother's court, that she felt most trapped.
Tonight, however, a restlessness stirred within her heart, a yearning for something beyond the gilded confines of the castle. With nimble fingers, she unlatched the window and slipped out into the twilight, her silken gown billowing softly in the evening breeze. Moonlight bathed her in its gentle embrace as she made her way through deserted corridors and shadowed alcoves, guided by the distant murmur of the sea.
Unbeknownst to her, Ser Benjicot Blackwood stood vigilant outside her door, his silver armor gleaming in the flickering torchlight. His duty as a knight of the Kingsguard demanded unwavering vigilance, yet tonight, his thoughts strayed to the young princess whose safety was his charge. As the hours wore on, a sense of unease gnawed at him, prompting him to check on her.
When Lady Rhaenyra arrived at her daughter's chambers, her brow furrowed with concern. "Where is Y/N?" she demanded of the guards stationed outside, her voice edged with urgency.
"She was here, Your Grace," one of the guards stammered, his eyes darting nervously. "But we haven't seen her leave."
Rhaenyra's jaw tightened with worry. "Find her," she ordered sharply, her tone brooking no argument. "Now."
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Y/N reached the deserted beach at the edge of the Blackwater Rush, her bare feet sinking into the cool, damp sand. The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery path upon the water's surface as waves whispered secrets to the shore. The rhythmic ebb and flow of the tide beckoned to her, offering solace amidst the tumult of her thoughts.
She paused at the water's edge, her gaze drawn to the horizon where the last remnants of daylight clung stubbornly to the sky. Stars began to twinkle overhead, painting the heavens with their ancient light. In that moment, Y/N felt a profound sense of peace, as if the weight of her responsibilities had been momentarily lifted.
Ser Benjicot, racing against time and worry, finally caught sight of Y/N's figure silhouetted against the waves. Relief flooded through him as he quickened his pace, his heart pounding with a mixture of fear and exhilaration. "Y/N!" he called out, his voice echoing across the deserted beach.
Startled, Y/N turned to face him, her eyes wide with surprise and a hint of guilt. "Ser Benjicot," she murmured, her voice barely audible over the gentle lapping of the waves. "I... I needed..."
Her words faltered, caught between explanation and apology, as Ser Benjicot approached her with measured steps. "My lady," he began, his tone a mixture of reproach and concern. "You cannot simply wander off like this. Your safety..."
Y/N met his gaze, her expression a mix of defiance and vulnerability. "I needed to escape," she confessed softly, her voice tinged with melancholy. "To breathe, to feel... alive."
Ser Benjicot's stern countenance softened as he regarded her with a depth of understanding that belied his knightly demeanor. "Your safety is paramount," he insisted, his voice tinged with anguish. "I cannot bear the thought of anything happening to you."
Y/N reached out tentatively, her fingers brushing against his armored sleeve. "I know," she replied softly, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "But sometimes, I need to remind myself that there's beauty beyond these walls."
Their gazes locked in a silent exchange fraught with unspoken words and unfulfilled desires. Ser Benjicot's heart raced with conflicting emotions, torn between duty and the undeniable pull of his feelings for the young princess under his protection.
"Y/N," he began, his voice thick with emotion. "I am bound by oath, by duty..."
Before he could finish, Y/N closed the distance between them, her lips capturing his in a tender kiss that spoke volumes of longing and forbidden passion. In that fleeting moment, time stood still as they shared a stolen embrace, their hearts beating in unison beneath the starlit sky.
When they finally pulled away, their breaths mingling in the salt-tinged air, Ser Benjicot's resolve wavered under the weight of their unspoken truth. "I cannot," he whispered hoarsely, his voice betraying the turmoil within. "I should not..."
Y/N silenced him with a gentle touch to his lips, her eyes shimmering with determination. "Sometimes, Ser Benjicot," she murmured, her voice filled with quiet resolve, "love cannot be bound by duty alone."
With a heavy heart and a lingering touch, Y/N turned towards the Red Keep, leaving Ser Benjicot alone with the echo of their forbidden kiss and the weight of their unspoken yearning.
But instead of leaving, Y/N hesitated, feeling the pull of the serene beach and the quiet company of the knight who watched over her. She turned back to Ser Benjicot, whose expression mirrored her inner turmoil.
"Let’s stay," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the gentle rush of the waves. "Just for a moment."
Ser Benjicot hesitated, torn between his duty and the undeniable bond that had formed between them. But in the end, his heart won over his sense of duty, and he sank down beside her on the soft sand, his armor creaking softly with the movement.
They sat in silence, watching as the last vestiges of daylight faded from the sky, giving way to a tapestry of stars that glittered like diamonds overhead. Y/N leaned against Ser Benjicot, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath her cheek.
"This is beautiful," she whispered, her voice filled with wonder as she traced the outline of a constellation with her finger.
Ser Benjicot glanced down at her, his gaze softening as he looked upon the young princess who had captured his heart. "Yes," he agreed quietly, his voice rough with emotion. "But not as beautiful as you."
Y/N met his gaze, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "I know we cannot be together," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "But in this moment, let us forget about duty and honor."
Ser Benjicot's hand found hers, intertwining their fingers together in a silent promise. "Just for tonight," he vowed, his voice thick with emotion. "Let us be together."
They sat together in the tranquil embrace of the night, their hearts entwined amidst the stars and the whispering waves. For in that fleeting moment, duty and love coexisted harmoniously, bound by the silent oath of their hearts.
And as the moon sailed high overhead, casting its silvery light upon the world below, Y/N and Ser Benjicot watched the sunset fade into memory, cherishing the fragile yet enduring bond they had forged amidst the serenity of the beach, knowing their love was a secret whispered between the stars.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - J.K. Rowling
Tumblr media
Image taken from Sunlit Pages
Rating: 5 / 5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is an excellent continuation of J.K. Rowling's magical world and an all-time personal favourite of mine. The novel manages to capture the essence of pure adventure and wonder that made the first book so successful. This instalment within the series took me on an exhilarating journey filled with danger, mystery, and character growth.
One of the standout aspects of this book is Rowling's ability to expand on the universe she created in the first story. I delved deeper into the mythology and history of the wizarding world, learning about the Chamber of Secrets and the legend of the Heir of Slytherin. This world-building is both intricate and rich, adding multiple layers of complexity to the story and making it even more immersive. Rowling's vivid descriptions of locations like the Burrow, Diagon Alley, and the Hogwarts Castle made me feel as though I was actually there, experiencing the magic alongside the Golden Trio.
The characters continue to shine through in this book. Harry, Ron, and Hermione's friendship deepened as they face new challenges. It is heartwarming to see their unwavering loyalty, and their support is one of the driving forces behind the series. As well as this, new characters such as Gilderoy Lockhart and Dobby the House-elf bring intrigue and humour to the story.
The plot of "Chamber of Secrets" is tightly woven with a compelling mystery at its core. The question of who, or most likely what is responsible for the attacks on Muggle-born students kept me engaged and guessing until the very end. Rowling's ability to craft intricate plots with unexpected twists is on full display.
Furthermore, this book explores important themes like the danger of believing stereotypes and prejudice. The notion of "Muggle-borne" being impure is reminiscent of real-world discrimination, and it serves as a powerful allegory for the consequences of intolerance and hatred.
It is worth mentioning, however, that I did find the pacing slower in the middle of the book when compared to the high-adrenaline moments of the beginning and end. Nevertheless, the slower pace did allow for needed character development and the exploration of essential themes.
To conclude, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is a literary gem that successfully builds upon the foundation laid in the first novel, offering a deeper dive into the characters, magical world, and thrilling mystery. While it may have a few minor pacing issues, its themes of bravery, friendship, and the battle against prejudice make it a timeless and thought-provoking read. This installment solidifies the series as a classic in the world of literature.
