Justice League Action had amazing character designs and I love them.
To be fair, Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle is one of the best character designs DC's ever done, it looks good in every artstyle and medium: it's insane. But, the relative size of his head-to-eyes and getting rid of the mouth adds a lot of unique expression to it!
Nothing too fancy, but Booster's small legs and how his body stretches out as you go up it makes me laugh: Of COURSE he'd skip leg day, and good on them for making a point of it!
Stargirl just has a strong profile, and I think it best displays the more upbeat personality Johns gave her, plus the super-long hair is such a neat touch! I dunno, this show was what got me into the character and she's just the best.
I love the simplicity of the Flash design: taking away most of the textural elements and letting the colours pop really keep things from being too complicated, and is just a general breath of fresh air for Flash designs. Plus, I LOVE how friendly the eyes on this version are.*
The parted hair shows her pragmatic nature, whilst also giving the tiara a nice bonus use as a hairband, which is a neat reinterpretation. I dunno, it strikes a fun balance between superheroic and warrior-esque that reflects well on Diana's charactertisation!
Obligatory gorillas doing things gorillas wouldn't normally do. - It's a DC staple, though it isn't really a character-design thing.
*I am not an artist, I could not tell you why, but he's my friend so shut it.
(this is done with comedic intent. I'm an ignorant fool. Don't trust me)
1: Orangutans. They're smart, but don't use it for evil. 10/10
2: (controversial) Gibbons. They're so underrated, there's the whole category 'great apes' to exclude them. Brachiation champs. Some hop sideways. 8/10
3: Bonobos. They're nice, but a bit associated with chimps for my taste. 5.5/10
4: Gorillas. They don't really have anything interesting. 5/10
5: Chimpanzees. Fuck those bastards. Give them the chance and they'll eat your fucking face. That's not hyperbole. A person had her face eaten by a chimpanzee. Both parties were at fault, but at least she didn't eat anyone's face. They take part in activity described as 'wars,' and they commit war crimes. They kill as many and as much as they can, then eat the fallen. If humans are space orcs, then chim-pan-fucking-zees are earth orcs. Ya know what I said about orangutans? Chimps are smart, and they use it for evil. fuck you/10
Barry Allen/Flash: (he counts as well since he is a forensic scientist and does detective work in his own cases)

Zatanna loves detectives. Thank YJ for helping me realize this thread. She probably reads detective fiction in her spare time and it makes sense since her first story was about finding her missing father.
Note I don’t consider all of these relationships to be romantic. Certainly not her relationship with Ralph, J’onn and especially Bobo.
Not sure if you're still answering these type of ask. But do you have any Clifford headcanons? 👉👈
Maybe some about what Clifford and Zee's relationship was like???
my askbox is pretty much always open so people can ask for headcannons anytime! A heads up to longtime Clifford fans I've gotten a general idea of his character through watching episodes/clips from Muppets Tonight, so idk if theres other videos of him
-I did a post a while back with some Clifford headcannons so you can read them here: Palettepainter101 — Got any headcanons for Clifford? (tumblr.com)
-As for him and Zee overall they where a pretty normal, but fashionable, couple. From watching Muppets Tonight Clifford strikes me as the type of guy who is just trying to do his job, get paid, and put food on the table. If he's not dealing with some dumb shit backstage then he will be later. I kind of love him for that, he's just trying to run a show, let the man do his job.
-When they met Zee was just a singer and hadn't started her teaching career just yet. Zee sang at different joints more or less as a very passionate hobby, she was paid well but the gigs where far and few, so she wanted to get a fulltime job to make ends meet. She applies for a job at the Muppets Tonight studios for an actor, with her career as a dancer she was used to a stage and working alongside other muppets was a new change of pace that sounded fun to her. Since Zee was already a singer and proved to already have experience on a stage she got hired relatively quickly
-Zee had always preformed alone, so while it took a bit for her to adjust having acting partners she soon made quick friends with some of the other actors on the show. Being one of the oldest cousins to Zoot she's also naturally the mum friend of their group, so isn't afraid of rolling up her sleeves to get stuff down. Her and Clifford where pretty close by this point, since Zee was good at keeping a level head and people seemed to listen to her Clifford trusted her with a lot of other things he didn't have the time for.
In some bloopers for Muppets Tonight there's this one where Clifford gets into a fight with Johnny and his chimp Sal. I think it'd be funny if Zee see's this going down and naturally goes over to see what's wrong, manages to calm Sal down with nothing more then a few calm words and a smile, and the pair go on their way, before she turns to Clifford and probably asks "You good boss?"
-During the time when the two where starting to crush on each other there was a lot of flirting/playful teasing. Zee and Clifford could match each others energy, and their impeccable fashion tastes, but it took them ages to actually start dating. A lot of people on the show assumed they where dating long before they actually where because the back and fourth flirting game went on forever. The day Clifford actually went to ask Zee out stuff kept getting in his way, in typical, comical muppet fashion. Whenever he got round to talking with Zee something else would pop up, or Pepe and Seymour would interrupt him, then Zee would be called over by somebody else and he'd loose his chance. It wasn't until the end of the day when Clifford flops down in his office chair does Zee pop by with a coffee, probably with a "Sheesh, you look rough creampuff" comment (not unkindly). Clifford sighs, saying something about how the day was so hectic and how he looks like a mess. Zee chuckles, saying that he's still got his looks, and then Clifford asks her out
-The two where already flirty before they began dating, so adding dating to the mix felt totally natural for them. With Zee as his girlfriend Zee helped out a lot more with the operations of running the show, the stuff Clifford often handled alone with occasional help from Pepe and Rizzo. Zee's singing career had been pretty popular, but Muppets Tonight was really when it started to take off. Clifford made space for her to sing songs in-between acts to warm up the audience, and Clifford loves to hear her sing. The two where still very flirty even after dating, and might have snuck in a few make out sessions in Clifford's office during commercial breaks.
I want to say they dated for a handful of years, perhaps the two had started to share their own space (perhaps rumours of the two buying a new place together and settling down, only Zee and Clifford know for sure). But Zee was eventually approached by a business man to give her a brand deal with her singing, only issue is Zee would have to move. Clifford and her had a long talk about it, and at first they tried to make long distance work, but in the end neither wanted to hold the other back and decided to remain friends
Zatanna Zatara, or simply Zee, is one of the Homo Magi, a subspecies of Homo Sapiens descended from ancient hybrids of humans and beings from the fifth dimension (or higher). Zee herself is the heir to Giovanni “Gianni” Zatara of the House Zatara, as well as Sindella Di Inferno, the daughter of King Inferno, two of Italy’s last great magical houses stretching back to Roman Empire and through Leonardo da Vinci himself into the modern day.
Growing up internationally as her father took to world traveling--both as an adventurer and master of the mystic arts--Zatanna encountered all manner of strange beings not unlike herself. These early encounters--Jason Blood, Doctors Isley and Holland, Detective Chimp, The Nightmare Nurse, Ariella Roth, and Elizabeth Lavenza--would come to be much of the back bone of the Justice League’s Dark Division, a sub-team devoted entirely to mystical threats. Diana herself would spend quite a bit of her time with this group, though she deferred to Zee’s knowledge and raw mystical power in most regards.
After this period of travel, Zatanna never truly settled down, though she maintained residences in Jump City, London, Gotham, Metropolis, as well as rooms in the House of Mystery and the Tower of Fate. One of the few people from this realm who Kent Nelson was known to have tolerated in the Tower without his direct supervision, Zatanna often found herself assisting Khalid Nassour with its upkeep when Nabu was unhelpful or actively antagonistic to the young doctor--a frequent occurrence for some years as the Helm’s sentient aspects underwent an unusually prolonged period of grief following Nelson’s eventual passing.
Perhaps most significantly, Zatanna is one of the few Diana trusts with secret of Perpetua and her eternal bondage between Paradise Island. Along with six others, these Seven Soldiers maintain no formal relationship between them, but are tasked individually with protecting the world from any threat past or future, borne of realms beyond their own.
Zatanna herself keeps two regular assistants: her protege, Misty Kilgore, and her stagehand/pet/bodyguard, Rodney the Rabbit, a being from another universe who claims to be the old cartoon and comics character Captain Carrot.

It’s not intended to be aggressive but I am genuinely curious: why do you hate Zatanna? Also, one of the coffin has the Martian Manhunter’s symbol, you read the JLI, so you didn’t like J’onn even back there? I’d like to hear your criticism on the two characters, if you’d like to share! :)

Previous anon: I don’t know where I saw the MMH symbol in the cover but I think he was mentioned in the article about the event!! Anyways, my ask stands still! :)
not aggressive, don't worry! i would like to say that the coffins don't mean anything though, the whole league save one member are confirmed to die and there's only so many coffins you can put on a cover and still have it be aesthetically pleasing. not to mention, it's a variant -- specifically a dan jurgens variant, as a direct reference to his work on superman's death -- and variant artists are very rarely offered scripts to work with. hell, black adam is right there on the variant and he could very well still die!
as for zatanna, i hate her because there was a moment in time (the beginning of mankind - early 2000s) when the magic side of the dc universe served as an ensemble cast with endlessly endlessly compelling characters getting their time to shine in nearly equal measure because they're an incredibly diverse group of people with incredibly diverse powers
we had the various 1987 magic-related miniseries (the demon, the phantom stranger, the spectre), we had the conclave and the shadowpact, we had the trenchcoat brigade trilogy (the books of magic 1990, mister e 1991, the trenchcoat brigade 1999), the collection of one-shots under the vertigo vision title (dr thirteen, phantom stranger, dr occult & rose, etc), we had the collection of one-shots under the helmet of fate title (sargon the sorcerer ii, zauriel, det chimp, black alice, ibis the invincible) and we even had daring & innovative new takes on magic seen in the likes of fate 1994, the book of fate 1997 and manhunter 1994. do you know what we have now? what we have now is Zatanna And Those Other Guys (the jld backups that end next week & her five part feature in urban legends). that's what the magic side of dc has been reduced to
out of every title i've mentioned above a grand total of one involved zatanna but post-seven soldiers of victory, she's suddenly everywhere. and people love it! people buy it! every single blog that's remotely concerned with magic dc is the number one zee stan! as an actual real fan & reader of the magic side of dc comics, i'm obviously desperately hoping her death brings us back to when things used to be actually interesting & done well.
as for j'onn, i can't recall ever finding him interesting so whether he lives or dies is dc's business :/
