Consultation with a Veterinarian
Before using healing herbs for dogs, it's crucial to consult with a veterinarian:
Importance of seeking professional advice: A veterinarian can provide valuable guidance and recommendations for using healing herbs safely and effectively. They can assess the dog's health condition, provide personalized treatment recommendations, and monitor progress over time.
Integration with conventional veterinary care: Herbal remedies can complement conventional veterinary care and may be integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan for dogs with chronic conditions or specific health concerns.
Tailoring treatment plans: A veterinarian can tailor treatment plans to meet the individual needs of each dog, taking into account factors such as age, breed, health status, and any underlying medical conditions. They can also provide guidance on selecting the most appropriate herbs and dosage regimen for optimal results.
In conclusion, healing herbs offer a natural and holistic approach to supporting the health and well-being of dogs. By incorporating herbs like turmeric, ginger, chamomile, lavender, and echinacea into their care routines, dog owners can provide their furry companions with a range of benefits, from pain relief and digestive support to anxiety relief and immune system boost. However, it's essential to consult with a veterinarian before starting any herbal treatment regimen to ensure safe and effective use. With proper guidance and supervision, healing herbs can be a valuable addition to a dog's healthcare toolkit, promoting overall wellness and vitality.

the second - jinshi x reader (bonus to so i don't know how to love)
Tumblr media
Jinshi has been more quiet lately.
Maomao first takes note of it on the second week, and on the third, the poor eunuch looks like he's aged to fifty-six. She blinks at the eunuch, and it seemed another annoying request would be arriving at her doorstep soon. She would have preferred that it stay quiet. But of course, something had to happen. Something always does.
"Maomao." Jinshi groans from the desk.
His usual smirk is replaced by his hair, and his forehead rests on the desk, his head spinning as his soul practically slips past his lips. He's much older, now that she looks at him. Perhaps the worrying over his missing wife had taken a toll— but he had looked much much younger when he had picked her up from the spring residence a year ago.
Maomao smiles to the best of her ability. "Yes?"
"Can you prescribe some chinese medicine that is good for a healthy baby."
Maomao blinks. "Are one of the consorts pregnant already?"
"No." He moves his face to rest on his cheek. "My wife is pregnant with our second."
Maomao blinks incredulously, slowly, utterly confusedly. "She let you sleep with you after—" She shuts herself up, forcing a smile on her face instead. Too many questions would get her nowhere. After all, the madam had just returned. She was not about to make her regret her decision. Though, it seemed the poor guy had been using her day and night for his sexual needs. She feels bad. That poor woman.
Jingui peers from the door at his father, blinking.
"Is niang alright?" Jinshi opens his arms for his son to give him a hug.
Maomao shudders at the affection.
"Niang just woke up." Jingui hums. "I am visiting before my shared class with the princess."
"Very well." He sends him on his way with a kiss on his forehead.
Maomao blinks at Jinshi. "Medicine for the madam?"
"For her pregnancy."
"Isn't she too old to be having children?"
"Aren't you too old to be single?"
"Hey, don't bully the child." You click your tongue disdainfully at the door, and Maomao nods at you as you pass her and stop. "Hand."
Her eyes light up when you drop her some poisonous flowers from your handkerchief.
"That should be enough, right?"
Maomao nods, lips curled into a smile. "You're so much better than he is."
You laugh, smile radiant, and Maomao waves goodbye as she rushes off for the herbs.
"You don't need to bully me for each time I say something out of pocket to her, you know?" Jinshi pouts, looking to the side.
"Have you stopped to consider that she's not married because she doesn't want it?" You roll your eyes. "I heard stress is bad for the baby. You better not go around stressing me out."
Jinshi makes a face of betrayal at you, mouth open and frustrated.
"Niang! The princess wants to see you fight!" Jingui calls from outside, and you hum.
"It's bad for the baby!" Jinshi yells back.
"It's fine." You hum. "Unless you want to pose as me?"
Jinshi grimaces. "I am coming with."
"Fine with me!" You hum. "Niang's coming!"
Maomao stops on her way back to the study with the medicine, staring as you show the princess how to use the sword, holding back a laugh at the way Jinshi looks like he's about to throw up. Well, this isn't the worst thing.
"Madam! Your medicine." Maomao motions at the pot, and you grimace.
Jinshi catches you before you can run away, and your son takes the pot from her with a nod.
Maybe this isn't half as bad.

Entangled Branches - Queqiao
Jingyuan x Reader
Courting is a matter that requires the utmost tact, though exceptions can be made when you're just that old
//I think this just turned into me dumping about ancient Chinese courting gifts. Poem is 秋夕 by 杜牧.
Tumblr media
Holding a needle between your deft fingers, you embroider brilliant thread through the plain fabric, eyes focused on the prick of metal weaving in and out as the image of mandarin ducks slowly forms. One much more colourful than the other, thread of ochre and cerulean decorating the foremost bird’s feathers, the second adorned with milder shades of greys and sepias. Cyan lotus pads scattered around the two birds provide some sense of atmosphere, accompanied by scant petals, all that is left for you to do is to tidy up your ducks and add additional ripples of water.
A hand reaches to grab your scissors, snipping away the last remaining bits of orange thread that now finished the last duck. You mindlessly thread grey string through your needle, piercing through the white fabric to sew wavelets around your ducks. Your fingers ghost over each hill and ridge, feeling for imperfections that might snag. You are well aware that what you make does not have to be perfect, but your pride would not let you give someone anything less than your utmost.
It is perfect, more than perfect. You cannot help the tightness in your chest and the soft smile that creeps up your lips, thoughts not quite racing but on the verge of. Still, you must calm your thudding heart as your hands meticulously free your fabric from its wooden confines, spreading it smooth against the wooden table. Sunlight peaks through the window by your side, verdant leaves just visible behind the elaborate frame, illuminating your work properly, you take a moment to merely let your thoughts wander.
Spice sachets are by no means some modern gift to give your lover, perhaps more common in the days of your youth but surely not now. Back then, they were used as insect-repellent or air fresheners, some people also believed that they protected the wearer against evil spirits. Truthfully, he would have no need for it, but call you an old sentimental coot, you just could not help yourself from wanting to protect him, even in your own silly antiquated way.
Before the thought of actually sewing the pouch comes to mind, your head immediately jumps to the basket weave of herbs long sun-dried for use. It had taken a bit of time to get them, seeing as the alchemy commission was being quite nosey about their use and you had not the heart to tell them. So you did the next best thing and lied, citing that you needed them for cooking. Of course, it was only then that they lightened up, but that did not mean that you could not feel their stares as you scurried away.
The herbs, shrivelled and colours dulled, provide an ever so slightly scent that floated lightly through the air. A pleasant smell, one that relaxed without being excessively heady or strong. Though you had worried that such a gift would only worsen your lover’s sleeping habits, your concern for him won out in the end.
Still, you turn away from them to work on sewing the satchel together, far easier work compared to the actual momentous task of embroidery. It goes by much faster than you expect it to, with your mind drifting to familiar faces and that even more familiar emotion. Before you know it, the satchel has taken on the shape of a lotus pouch, drawstrings and all. You attach the beads onto the strings and all that is left to do is to place your herbs in. With a delicate hand, you slowly stuff them in, layering them as if anyone would even open the pouch.
Tugging on the drawstrings, you hold it to your chest for a moment, your eyes fluttering close and imbuing your prayers for him. To be safe and prosperous, able to do as he wishes without fear or shame, and most importantly for him, for his workload to decrease. A soft sigh escapes you, though it is not one of resignation or annoyance but rather fondness, horrid fondness.
You will find some way to slip this into his office, granted that would not be some hard act with how often he is not in. Still, there had to be some subtlety to your actions, you would ruin all the fun if you refrained from such. Of course, finishing one just means you will have to start the other. You could not possibly think of not making one for that disciple of his, especially when he just keeps getting himself in some kind of trouble.
You shake your head as a soft smile tugs at your lips. Truly, you must have been some saviour to be granted such people.

He holds up the wooden comb up to the light, keen eyes pouring over every aspect of the humble item. Dark wood carved into elegant depictions of verdant bamboo and a crane, the tines were slender yet sturdy, spaced perfectly to glide through hair. Before him were many more options of such, each comb’s design more elaborate than the last.
The thought of seeing any of them in your hand, fingers wrapped around the wood as you detangle your hair, works oils with that sweet scent that seems to always coax him closer, it sends a soft warmth to his limbs. He does not quite know how to explain it, a rather pitiful situation for someone known for his flattery and skillful words, but he finds that even when you are doing the most mundane things, he loves you just a little bit more. Perhaps others may call him love-addled in the head, but under soft moonlight, in nothing but your sleeping garments with your hair let down, he imagines that fond glint in your eyes and just cannot help himself but yearn to bear witness to such a sight for the rest of time.
The idea of gifting you a comb has been borne out of spontaneity, something he is not the most familiar with but still welcome. It had been custom for combs to be gifted between lovers, a desire to grow ‘old’ with said person, and he supposes that such a sentiment is rather difficult to continue on when long-lives and mara are two very common phenomena. It is rather silly, but a comb is a practical gift and he has always believed that if given the chance, if the two of you were merely two mortals, you would be happy to watch the wrinkles appear on each other’s face and for your hair to turn grey. You would still be beautiful, aged with the years spent together and the joy evident upon your visage, crow’s feet, smile lines and all.
When he returns to his senses, his hand has rested upon another comb. A lighter shade than the first, though the quality is still just as immaculate, the spaces between the tines are much larger, not as tightly packed as the last. Though arguably a lot less intricate than many of its predecessors, there seemed to be a certain charm to it, humble jasmine flowers carved onto the main body with a care that went far beyond ornate. The very engraving of each petal laden with care, ridge and valley of complete smoothness, the simple design far conveyed to him the vision of you than the rest.
He thumbs over the engraving, smiling to himself as he imagines you once more. Again that old image of you at your night-time routine, this time with this very comb in your hand as you call for him, your voice gentle along the night wind with the smell of sandalwood in the air. It really is foolish of him to keep musing, and yet no matter how many times he says it, he truly has been reduced to a languishing simpleton of a man when it comes to you.
“I shall take this one,” He hums, cradling the comb in one hand as he hands it to the seller.
The seller takes one look at it, a contemplative look appearing on their face before their brows furrow. Taking it into their own hands, they send him a complex look, not quite judgemental but surely urging, “Ah, this plain old thing? I’m certain that we have other combs you will certainly be much more interested in.”
A soft breath escapes him, mostly out of amusement than any negative sentiment. He only nods his head, reaffirming his desire for this specific comb out of the litany he was presented.
“Apologies, but I’m quite certain.”
When the seller notes his conviction, they just accept it. They must surely still be confused at his choice but he does not see why he must explain himself, after all, when it comes to someone such as you, even he cannot explain the manner in which even the simplest things remind him of you.
“I see, of course.”
The comb is promptly wrapped up in delicate paper and fastened with string, tied in a knot you will no doubt struggle with but will admire for all of five seconds. When it is brought back to his hands, he thanks the merchant and his chest grows warm.
A comb for his beloved, jasmines adorning your head, surely he must have been some great saviour in his past life to be able to have such a sight.

“General, would you perchance have the time to accept this lowly one’s gift?”
Your arrival to the seat of Divine Foresight has long been announced, a notion that Qingzu and the routine cloud knights were made aware of even before you could fathom planning your next visit. After all, when the general has come to expect your presence sliding in when everyone least expects it, you gain some perks.
“You and your formalities,” He laughs, his voice dear to your ears. Jingyuan’s eyes, framed by those long lashes, focus upon you. Seated at his desk with mounds of scrolls to look upon, though he would usually be more than happy to be dozing off right this very moment, the energy at which he responds only boosts your excitement, “Of course I do, I’ll always have time if it's you.”
“Old sap.” Shaking your head, you can only let that fond smile appear across your face as you make your way to his desk.
It is by no means an arduous journey, and it is not long before you are granted a full view of a certain someone’s rather smug face, almost feline-like if you will. Furthermore, you suppose you also should have expected that he would pull you closer towards him, his head all but resting on yours if not for the fact that you still needed to give him something. Still, you ignore the way your breath hitches for just a moment, the familiar scent of sandalwood and tea that clings to his form drifting to your nose and coaxing you to relax, instead you reach for the spice sachet and place it in his waiting hands.
He accepts it readily, and it is by the slight widening of his eyes that you know he recognises exactly what you have made for him. After all, it is not like spice sachets are commonplace in this day and age.
“See, I’ve made it so you can attach it to your belt,” Your voice is low, your head leaning against his shoulder as you fiddle with the strings. You can feel his breath fanning against you, his much larger frame a steady pillar“And it's not too long so it won’t get in your way.”
He is quiet for a moment, admiring the pouch as he turns it over and finds new details to marvel upon. Then, he speaks, voice low and teasing,“My dear, are you saying your beloved stinks?”
“No, I'm saying the air around you stinks.” Huffing, you nudge him with your elbow, a notion that he also clearly finds amusing, as he makes an over-exaggerated ‘oof’ to your light tap.
Jingyuan only laughs at that comment, wrapping an arm around you so that you may be closer to one another. Still, he presses a chaste kiss to your forehead, a doting smile on his lips. He whispers, “Thank you for the gift, I’m certain your blessings will keep me safe.”
“You better, if I have to find out from Qingzu that you got some grievous injury again I think I’ll be the one going mara-struck instead.”
“Oh then whatever shall I do? I suppose I can only trouble my dear wife to take care of me so that I won’t end up in the healers again.”
At that, you barely resist the urge to butt him with your head, another overfond sound escaping his lips, sounding more like sweet birdsong to your ears that you may hear his amusement and joy so clearly. Though, it is not long until you notice the weight in your lap, some object wrapped in paper and bound in string. When you meet his gaze, he only gestures for you to open it, golden eyes glinting with some indulgent sentiment. You do so, fussing with the knot but eventually unwrapping the paper to reveal a simple wooden comb, jasmines carved onto its body.
The breath in your lungs seems to escape you, for your words get carded in your throat and all you can muster is a pathetic, “You…”
“You old coot, getting me a comb,” You chuckle, an attempt to hide how choked up you were. “We’ve already spent so many years together and you….”
Jingyuan looks to you, and you are certain that if a mirror were to be brought to both of your faces right this very moment, what would be found would be merely two senior citizens playing at youth. Though, with the many hardships that the centuries have put you through, you cannot quite say that  you quite mind this kind of childish tomfoolery. Why else would you call upon childhood sentiments? Why else would he choose such a gift?
Holding up a hand to cradle his face, he leans into your touch, those soulful eyes once again meeting yours. There is such a profound affection within them that for a while, it scared you. Yet now, being the one most privy to such a sight, those eyes who hold the sun and make you yearn to protect him, it comes to you as natural as breathing.
“What do you say, my dear?” He offers, cocking his head to the side as those mellow words sink in.
You can only shake your head, an overly indulgent quirk of your lips pulls your lover closer. It is not the first kiss you shared, and it is certainly not the last, for there will be a long, long time before one of you meets your ends.

hi! i’m wondering what foods you eat/don’t eat to help with endo? :) i really appreciate the resources u share :) thank you
It's different for everyone so it takes time and I don't really recommend following someone else's diet cause I am of the belief what you stomach well has to do with where your ancestors are from and also physical constitution in Chinese medicine varies more than just like having endo or not! I personally eat a lot of small farm non gmo meat from what's local which is a lot of stuff in PA, local seasonal vegetables (most squash, potato, and leafy greens), bone broth, spices and herbs, drink matcha everyday, and cook strictly in high quality grass fed butter, ghee, or beef tallow! it is expensive and daunting at times but overall I think I save money now that I cook a lot and have a really organized fridge/pantry over just shopping on a whim and trying to make random meals from it. It's a big commitment to make but if you've ever gotten so sick that you lose your mobility and ability to do basic functions, I think it becomes clear it's worth the money in a very health is wealth way.
I personally can't stomach gluten, onion, or garlic (I use scallion instead) but I am not of the opinion any of those things are bad for you! And I'd like to eventually be able to eat them again when my stomach and nervous system has healed. I also do not eat seed oils, which although controversial and really political now - I think comes down to it being a super cheaply made product and has more to do with how its made than what the main ingredients are! That's probably the hardest one to avoid but I do feel different when I am strict about it but it def eliminates most eating out options realistically which I know for most people just doesn't work.
It might be worth it imo to find some quizzes online for what your chinese medicine physical constitution says you need vs looking up "endo diet" and learning more about eating and lifestyle habits that come along with it because I think even if you eat super organic whole foods all the time if you aren't sleeping and resting and working out I think it can only do so much on it's own!
Americanized health sciences do not understand the root cause of endo (and they admit that fully) so I think there's very little information or help to be harvested from people who consider themselves experts on the topic unless they themselves have endo and have found things that have made a huge difference for them - but otherwise I think western perspective on endo and the body is very small and rigid and worth exploring outside of as a good place to start if what's been given as resources to you so far hasn't changed things in a meaningful way for you!

My sincerest apologies for the double request. Could I have headcanon of how Hades, Poseidon, Thor, Qin Shi Huang and Tesla would care for their S/O who is sick with the flu?
Tumblr media
He is nervous but tries to hide it.
Being the God of Death, he knows that any illness can potentially lead to his door.
All efforts are made for you to rest, relax, and recover.
Hades doesn’t allow you to leave the bed for anything other than to use the bathroom. It’s maddening.
Tumblr media
Thinks that being sick is a sign of weakness. What self-respecting god, or consort to a god, would get ill?
It is what it is though. And when he realizes that you are not able to will it away, or just keep on as normal, he relents in admitting you are sick.
A very ‘hands off’ caretaker. One who will check on you after several hours to make sure you are still breathing.
His bedside manner is about as cold as his artic sea.
Tumblr media
Unintentionally cold
The common cold is common, yes? That would be why it is in the name. So it’s not a big deal, right?
Thor has never been sick so he has no point of reference for it. Although he has been injured in battle and that was quite unpleasant. But there was more blood and lances that time.
In any case, he makes an effort to try and comfort you, but mostly just leaves you alone to rest. Brings flowers to your room while you sleep & opens the windows to let fresh air in.
Tumblr media
Being a human once, he knows that being sick is no fun. But this will not get us down!
Qin Shi is still very positive, and positive in your recovery.
He tries all manner of Eastern Medicine techniques to cure you. Tai chi & calisthenics to get the blood flowing. Burning sage and other herbs to repel the demon sickness. He wanted to try acupuncture, but you shot him down.
The only thing that did work was a spicy black chicken bone broth. Qin Shi insists that it’s an ancient Chinese remedy, and that the herbs have powerful antioxidants in them to cure even death. Or, if could just be that it’s warm soup.
Tumblr media
Takes a more scientific approach that the Eastern Medicine route. No offense Qin Shi.
Prepare to be poked, prodded, and pulled in order for Tesla to find the right answer. You’re going to be missing a lot of fluids.
Once the germ has been isolated, Tesla will devote every waking hour to decipher it and finding a cure. A super antibiotic, if you will.
Of course by the time he’s come up with a trail run you’re already better. But there is always next time.

i might recompile my winterfield headcanons that i've written in twitter but here's a new one (food edition(??)):
ethan is pescatarian, before re7 he eats chicken but never other types of meat, chris manages to reintroduce him to eat chicken again for his military training but ethan became sick.
because of ethan's new diet, ethan went in and tried different types of fish for variety, but at the end he sticks to his favorite week night fish meat is the typical salmon or tilapia, for him grouper fish is the best for soup meals
ethan does't eat raw sashimi or any raw meat due to re7 incident.
ethan doesn't like shellfish too much due to the texture, some are okay like abalone.
chris prefer seasoning that punch your taste buds, something very strong like Garam Masala, Cajun, Shacha sauce (Chinese BBQ), while ethan preferences is pretty mild, so around the circle of Herbes de Provence.
i'm not saying that ethan can't handle the spices or the heat, he just prefer simpler taste and the natural taste of the main ingredient (salmon, etc).
acidity for food, like lemon and vinegar are exceptions, ethan describes it "brings the whole dish back alive!"
from my previous headcanon, i've mentioned how chris is very big into safety (guns, cars, etc), this includes him being cautious with picking meat suppliers and checking labels on where they got their meat from ((again, it's because of the RPD incident, even though he is not there to experience it singlehandedly, he saw his close ones living in that situation, same thing with his parents dying due to a car incident)) it's more so long term over short term, sure he'll try an exotic meat like squirrel/snake from a trusted restaurant/supplier but he's not going to eat that meat everyday
chris' priority isn't about enviromental sustainability (sadly), really just for health wise for him and his close ones (IF they ask, ethan and rebecca agreed, claire doesn't care, jill and leon is indifferent with these sets of informations)
as for chris, he eats whatever meat, he prefers lean meat due to his training, so chicken is very important for him. other meat such as beef and pork is more so a treat for chris. he WILL try exotic meat.
but again, I think both are okay eating the same meal over and over again, and genuinely not picky, Chris doesn't pay too much attention if the meal that he'd ate is the same with the previous meal, he only cares of it's healthy or not (claire and him grew up eating leftovers after leftovers, claire sometimes complained about it). Ethan has a different reason, i think of him to have phases cater around his interest and that phases last in 6-8 month or so.
most of the main dish were picked by ethan, most of the time it's made using dutch oven, so something along the lines of cassrole or stews were often dinner meals for them. with a side of light salad or carbs like stale bread.
Chris isn't the "health police", he's really just a very cautious man. OHH the irony since he smokes the most in the group.
He still sneaks in some chocolate and sweet treats too.. ethan finds it adorable to see that chris is a sweet tooth like him 😭 soemtimes ethan will ask chris if they can get ice cream and you can see the man struggling to say no 🥺
chris sometimes substitue his cigarette with licorice lozenges. he doesn't like patches, but he will take one if he's in a very long flight.
chris HAS to sleep in plane flights, if not he'll grew restless due to him not smoking. he'll wake up to eat or take a piss and that's it.

Flowers That Offer Protection
Snapdragons
Snapdragons were believed to offer protection against witchcraft and evil eye. Dried snapdragons look very similar to skulls and can be used as charms against aging. In ancient Greek it was thought that wearing a snapdragon in your hair or on your neck would offer protection. During medieval times many castles would plant snapdragons around the entrance with the intention of protecting the castle (warding). Hang some snapdragons above a babies crib to repel bad spirits and nightmares
In Russia many women used snapdragons in ointments to reverse aging and appear graceful. In victorian times it was thought that hiding a snapdragon on you would make you appear more alluring.
Venus Flytrap
Venus flytrap are literal carnivores plants. Many witches use them as wards with the intention of eating negative energy. Use them to eat or bind negative energy. Many practitioners like to use Venus flytrap to bind people or negativity. As well as program them to feed off negativity.
I've also known people who use them as a sort of "trip wire" for curses, evil eyes and hexes. Though if you're not good with plants then your plant could just be dying and not have gotten an hex. You can tell the difference by whether it comes back to life when you take care of cleansing and necessary needs of the plant itself.
Angelica
Dried Angelica can be great for breaking hexes and banishing energy. Many practitioners use this flower and it's many parts in spells. It's believed that if it grows around a house or building it will protect it from witchcraft. Angelica root has also been used as amulets for protection or gambling.
In many European countries it was thought that Angelica would protect from sicknesses. The herb itself is used in many medicine even today. That's where it gets the name "angel" from. One of its best uses would be for breaking hexes. When used properly it can be the breaker.
‼️do not ingest if pregnant‼️
Carnation
Carnations are thought to be associated with the Holy Mother Mary and Diana the Goddess of the Hunt. Both were symbols of purity and Innocence. In many countries including eastern asian and Europe carnations are associated with healing and mothers love. In victorian flower language yellow carnations were seen as a symbol of rejection.
In parts of Europe red carnations were used to protect homes as well as repel unwanted visitors. Dried carnations can be used in many types of spells such as warding, protection, healing and love.
Yarrow
The herb is known for its protective uses as well as it's medicinal. It was said that the warrior Achilles learned of the herbs medicinal uses from the great teacher Chiron. In Ireland the herb was thought to disperse plagues and evil spirits. Was also thought to carry stocks of it for safe travels. Hanging yarrow throughout your home or near a babies crib is said to repel negative spirits.
In traditional Chinese folklore yarrow was used as a tool for divination. Due to how long lasting the flower is yarrow is also a symbol of long lasting love. You could use it in satchets or bouquets on wedding days or dates to promote a love that will last years.
Agrimony
Agrimony can be used as protection from negativity this includes witchcraft, evil eye, spirits and people. In wards they can cause a rebound on the sender of a hex. Carrying it around is thought to protect you wherever you go. These beliefs are common in English folklore and voodoo(closed practice) .
In old English the herb is thought to be put under a pillow for sleep. In ancient northern Europe the herb was thought to cure a lot of ailments. Anglo-Saxons had also believed that herb would reveal witches. Scotland had thought the herb could cure those who had been affected by fairies. This would mean unknown illnesses. The herb itself is seen as a kinda cure all.
‼️Please do intense research before ingesting or foraging ‼️

Just give me the coffee, I will do the rest.
Loki is settling in. Mostly, he wants to eat and sleep. The few times I have let him out of the Borg Cube, he's been out for 10 minutes, gets overstimulated, and runs back to his Safe Place. Right now he is learning how to play with toys, and loves his scratching posts and pads. He's been through so much. I have asked that the ex get a visit from his karma.
Unpleasant Subject Ahead
Another thing that this whole thing has driven home is how important it is to get your affairs in order - even if you don't have cancer. Loki's mom was getting a divorce and fell so ill so fast that she was unable to make her own medical decisions within days of admission. Even if you are getting a divorce, even with an actual protective order, your spouse is still the legal default person to make decisions for you. They are your legal heir. If you don't have a legal spouse (marriage certificate), it's your adult children, if you have no kids then your parents make those decisions even if you're a legal adult. If you have no immediate family, then your extended family gets called in.
Power of attorney legal and medical
Will for personal property
Living trust for investments and real estate
Medical orders (supersede those of the POA) such as Do Not Resuscitate
A health care directive like this one.
It's hard to think about, but when your surviving extended family is a mess (like mine) you want these things in order. Hell, have them notarized so that a judge can look at the plaintiff and say, "What the hell is the matter with you?"
Golden Treadmill
I'm strapping myself in with another 'write to spec' contract. Yep, it's more porn. I negotiated for one every six weeks from February to November. I need to visit Amazon and stock up on barf bags and brain bleach. I did say that I won't write noncon or (yes, this is a thing) racist tropes. It's hard for me to write hardcore body horror. I might be writing horrible porn in order to pay off my medical bills that makes my pussy slam shut like an angry clam, but I have standards. That being said, the editor delivered the advance to my freelance bank account and the outline to my inbox.
Whoo boy.
In my defense, I did not know that 'monster fucking' was commercially viable.
Cat in the Kitchen
Rediscovering food has been a wonder. As promised, my rearranged innards make it trial and error, but the errors seem to be self-correcting. Gut flora does come back, but I have not been brave enough to venture into my spicy Indian, Chinese, and Mexican foods.
I've been making casseroles/hotdish because they freeze well and sometimes the fatigue renders me incapable of anything other than pushing a button.
For casseroles/hotdish you need:
Vegetables: Frozen works fine. Canned is saltier, so if you go canned use 'less salt' brands. If you are using mushrooms, frozen, fresh or dried is best. I find canned mushrooms have a very weird metallic taste.
Starch: Potatoes, rice, pasta/noodles, bread. Yes, tater tots count.
Protein: Can be vegetable protein, beans, canned tuna or salmon, or meat. Smoked salmon is delicious in casseroles and soup, so I go to my local deli on Friday to get lox ends and trimmings.
Sauce: Canned soups (cream of ____), jarred or canned pasta sauce, or packaged cooking sauces and gravies.
Topping: Cornflakes, tater tots, cheese, potato chips, stuffing, etc.
Flavor: Dried herbs, onion and celery, garlic, spices.
Slowcooker meals are great, too, and follow the same rules as casseroles/hotdish. But my favorite caserole dish is my Gran's Lancashire hotpot - lamb neck chops, potatoes, onions, and more sliced potatoes on top for a crispy lid.
Back to work.

Mimosa, aka Albizia julibrissin, is one of the most valued botanicals in Chinese medicine for supporting an uplifted mood and peaceful state of mind. Known as the “herb of happiness”, Mimosa helps encourage mental stability and promotes emotional serenity.
Mimosa blossoms are also good for encouraging restful sleep, calming the spirit, relieving emotional constraint associated with anger, soothing irritability, and improving cognitive function. Mimosa bark is also a potent ally for grief and heartbreak because it helps anchor the heart and stabilize emotions.

if only i could break the chains of disappointment weighing me down (shake off the ghosts that whisper warnings)
It's the middle of the night. Frank Zhang can't sleep. Instead, he picks up his old kid's version of Journey to the West.
read on ao3
(sorry i forgot to do this one :/)
The stick burns, and Frank stares at it.
He does nothing.
It burns up. He collapses. There is nothing else.
And then he wakes up.
(The first time he had that nightmare, he tried to stop it, throw it into the snow. Frank learned quickly. Now, he thinks, he'll just be surprised to not wake up after it burns for real. Or maybe death is like sleep? He supposes he could ask Hazel.)
He wakes up in his bed in the praetors’ quarters.
It's two am, and Frank doesn't have to wake up for another four hours, but the world is quiet and Frank likes it that way. Reyna's sleeping in her room, so Frank walks out to their 'hang out room' - as they like to call it - and turns on the small lamp.
His copy of a kid's version of Journey to the West sits on the bookshelf. Reyna had raised an eyebrow at it, but to him it's a marker of when his childhood was a little easier, a little happier. His mother used to read it to him.
And then she went to war.
His mother was a wonderful woman; she loved more than Frank ever thought possible.
Emily Zhang also left.
Those two halves Frank has never quite been able to reconcile; Emily Zhang, the loving mother, and Emily Zhang, the absent parent. For so much of his childhood, it was his Lao Lao - maternal grandmother in Mandarin - and him.
Smashed pottery, pretty blue and white, and his grandmother’s disappointment.
“Zhang Fai,” she’d trill disappointingly. All of that disappointment could never hide the pain in her voice when she sent him away, could never hide the pain in her voice when she found her daughter to be dead, could never hide the pain in her voice when she spoke of her late husband’s death.
Frank had never been fully certain if his grandmother ever even had a husband. Zhang was her married name; Jade Zhang Yu has always been more Chinese-Canadian than Chinese, despite her pride.
Frank used to know his Tai Poh Poh - great-grandmother, Cantonese instead of Mandarin like the rest of them - or, he met her once in his memory. Her mind was failing her by then, her speech muddled with Cantonese words. Frank understood little - of course, his last Cantonese relative was his great-grandmother. She'd speak and through the curtain of language he could understand bit-by-bit, fragments painting a whole.
She had come from China, escaping Mao Zedong (who his grandmother always intermittedly pronounced as ze-dong or see-tong) and his communist regime with her family, moving to Hong Kong and later Canada.
But from what Frank understood, his great-grandmother was only saying a few Buddhist prayers, maybe intermixed with something else. Something for her final days, something about her late husband, Frank's grandfather.
He had never met Shen Lun, who moved up from San Francisco, to meet Frank's great-grandmother in Vancouver's Chinatown.
Frank likes Chinatown. It's sort of chaotic, but it smells strangely like a home. There's a bakery that makes amazing apple fritters and disappointing ma lai goh, a sort of spongy cake. There's Chinese herbal remedy shops whose aroma floats in the air, baskets upon baskets of herbs like star anise and ginger. There's slightly dirty shops with roast duck hanging in the window, rotating slowly. There's the gate, and the grand dragon dance on every New Years'.
Frank misses Chinatown, all the time. He misses the crowded shops. He knows that the Chinatown he knows is no longer present, he knows that Chinatown's been slowly gentrified over time. He also knows it is no longer the centre of Chinese Canadians in the Vancouver area - Richmond has taken that, but again, it was also where Frank grew up.
(But Chinatown still sounds like home to Frank. And even though he'd never met Shen Lun, he had to bear his mistakes anyway. Filial piety, loyalty to your parents. A never-ending cycle of shame and guilt given from parent to child. Frank is Chinese-Canadian. He finds other ways.)
(And that's not getting to Richmond. Because Frank knows it must've changed in the years he's been gone. Or two years. It was changing fast by the time he left.)
New Rome is too clean, clean to be unnatural. It's odd and strange and kind of weird, but Frank is praetor, and his obligations rest on his shoulders here.
Frank resurfaces back in the present, and takes the copy of Journey to the West off of the shelf. The characters and drawings are achingly familiar, a children's book that is still decently long, due to the nature of how long Journey to the West is.
Frank's grandmother's favourite goddess is Guanyin, or, as she pronounced it the Cantonese way, Ginyam, with a hard g. Goddess of mercy and compassion, a bodhisaatva in Buddhist tellings. Guanshiyin, in her long form. The children's book has a drawing of her; Guanyin sits on the blooming lotus flower, wise and compassionate.
Frank's mother liked her too.
("Mercy is restraint, Frank," Emily said. "It has just a place in war as violence does.")
Frank supposes it is fitting that he likes her too. Taoist gods are much more... well, Frank can't quite place it, but Taoist gods are different than Roman gods. They have different concepts of filial piety and duty attached to them. The Jade Emperor gained power via compassion. Jupiter’s came from force.
Guanyin is nothing but benevolent; she assists Sun Wukong in helping Xuanzang (Frank did not find the other characters as notable; his favourite was always the peaceful Xuanzang, and, well, Sun Wukong is hard to forget). Her one fault, his mother had always said, was that she was a deux-ex-machina for the protagonists. But, as Emily had always reminded Frank, deux-ex-machinas can be good things, too.
"Why are you up at this ungodly hour?" Reyna asks, stepping in place beside him, breaking Frank out of his reverie.
"Just… reminiscing. Had a nightmare.”
“Fair enough,” Reyna says, rolling out her shoulder. “Nothing important?”
“No. You can go back to sleep.”
Reyna smiles, but it’s ephemeral. “You know you can talk to me, right? We’re not super close but we are working together. And you can talk to Hazel.”
“I know. It’s nothing important.”
Reyna nods and leaves him alone to his thoughts and the kid’s version of Journey to the West.
She reminds him of the burden of duty. She’s bore it for all too long. Frank doesn’t know how she did it. He’ll be praetor for just under ten years, and the toll’s already been felt. And alone, too. If Frank’s honest, Reyna has always seemed frightening to him. She’s great at what she does, self-confident and assured in her every move. And duty is something Frank is familiar with - Shen Lun’s stain has long been felt. Frank’s grandmother’s pride had long been kept.
Reyna has a legacy. Of her family and of her own. She may have created it with her sister Hylla, but it is hers nonetheless.
Frank has one too. But his is conflicting. Shapeshifters, prisoners, immigrants, exiles, war heroes.
His mother would've told him he had his own path in life. His grandmother would've told him that children must follow their parents.
If there is one thing the Roman and Taoist gods are in agreement about, it is filial piety. It is loyalty to your parents, to the state. If there is one thing all of his ancestors would have probably agreed on, it would be that.
Obey your parents. Obey the state. Your parents gave you everything; you can never recompensate that.
He puts the kid's copy of Journey to the West back on the shelf.
He wants a good bowl of noodles - whatever it is. Crossing-the-bridge, udon (in Chinese dishes, yes, that was Chinese-Canadian). They don't have any decent Chinese food in New Rome (only terrible Chinese food allowed solely by , and he's not allowed to go to San Francisco, or, gods forbid, Vancouver. Even as praetor).
Maybe he should send one of his distant cousins a message - or his grandmother, if she's still alive. He thinks he could find her. Or perhaps it is more hope.
Plus, the praetors have their own kitchenette. He could probably make something. As long as it can be put in the microwave.
Frank smiles.
He thinks, if his grandmother is alive, she may be proud of him in this moment. For nothing else but where he's come and who he wants to be. For nothing else if that he has turned the Zhang family into what the Shen family could never be.
He thinks, if his mother were here to see him, she would be proud of him. Not for everything he's come to, but simply because she loves him. He thinks Emily Zhang would as well.

1. What does your muse smell like?
Primarily jasmine with an undercurrent of flour and herbs.
2. What do your muse’s hands feel like?
Almost soft if not for the callouses wear his sword fits into his grip. Other than practicing his swordplay he’s lived the life of a rich young, pampered man.
3. What does your muse usually eat in a day?
It varies since he doesn’t have to eat, so sometimes meals would be “skipped” in favor of doing other things. He’s at least gotten more regular since he’s taken to cooking for his student (another person who also don’t have to eat...) but whenever he eats it’s usually something rather nice. Since he’s Chinese, generally cuisine along those lines. Luxurious especially if he’s eating out. He’s not very picky with his palate either when it comes to food.
4.  Does your muse have a good singing voice?
Oh absolutely! He only really sings or hums unconsciously when he’s cleaning, cooking, or doing any kind of household work though.
5. Does your muse have any bad habits or nervous ticks?
A perfectionist to a T. A bit of a neat freak too, if he’s somewhere where things are out of place or messy then it will take everything within him not to start cleaning up right then and there. Cleans when he’s stressed. Bites down on his lip when upset. Honestly, I love him to bits but he can be a bit of a mess sometimes.
6. What does your muse usually look like/wear?
Dressed to the nines, the whole nine yards. Solid colors. A darker, usually black, color scheme. Expensive designer clothes. Not a hair out of place. He’s also a sucker for beautiful embroidery and so his robes have a bit more color and flare to them, but in generally he always looks perfectly put together.
7. Is your muse affectionate? How much? How so?
Once upon a time I would have said no, but Minglian's appearance in his life has changed him to be a kinder and more affectionate man. That's only with Minglian though, depending on the circumstances and the person is where it starts to vary. He also has this sense of propriety that generally keeps him from acting super affectionate even with people he's now closer to, like some of the other dragons. Then there's also the trauma and all.
8. What position does your muse sleep in?
I always imagined it on his side facing the left and slightly curled up and hands pillowed under him. It’s an oddly cute sleeping position for him.
9. Could you hear your muse in the hallway from another room?
Unless it’s in his home, where I feel like his voice does get a bit louder just because it’s his private place, probably not? Maybe? He speaks at a pretty normal tone unless of course he’s being agitated or teased (by Meihui or Zhaohui).

Here's a 5am update because I have the flu and this fever is keeping me up and have nothing better to do, so (: TL;DR Reiki, School Changes, and Experimenting with Acupuncture Points
First off, I kind of had like a "Reiki Re-Awakening" as I'll call it. I was doing laundry and mine had some extra time so I was in the community room bored, and just peeking under the TV at me from the perfect angle from where I was sitting was a Reiki book.
I hadn't heard of it before (and ya know, this screams of synchronicity) so I picked it up and thumbed through it, and immediately decided to borrow it.
The book is called Essential Reiki: A Complete Guide to an Ancient Healing Art by Diane Stein. It is... incredible honestly. It talks about Reiki and some techniques in new ways that I hadn't heard before and it really clicked with me. It also blends in some TCM concepts, which I immediately latched onto. I would highly recommend this book honestly - just be aware that if you aren't Reiki attuned you won't be able to do Reiki or anything in the book until you get your attunements (:
Anyways, the timing of this book and everything else in my life - Reiki just like. Completely enveloped me. I have been just SURGING with Reiki lately, and just been doing soo much Reiki work, on myself and others. I have had some things happen when doing Reiki that are nothing short of miracles. It blows my mind every single time.
So yeah. Basically Reiki is a very very big part of my life and my practice now. I think eventually I would LOVE to do Reiki and acupuncture concurrently. I'm super curious about the effectiveness of it - but I suspect highly of it.
Speaking of which - school! I had some big realizations regarding this. I realized that I have been so busy trying to be good at school that I wasn't actually learning any of the material, and that I kind of have forgotten why I am here in the first place.
I remembered that the whole reason that I came to this school was to study energy, and to study Qi - what it is, how it works, and how to manipulate it for different purposes and healing etc.
Because of this, I realized that I needed to switch my degree plan. I was in a dual masters/doctoral program, but I realized that didn't suit me and that I need to switch to the MaC program instead.
The difference is herbs. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) isn't just acupuncture - it's also moxa, bodywork, a few other things - but especially herbs.
The dual program is 4.5 years, and 1.5 of those years is just straight up herbs. And I realized that while learning herbs would definitely help me treat people in a deeper and more effective manner - it's irrelevant to what brought me here in the first place - to study energy, and Qi.
So yeah. Some big changes, but really good and necessary ones. Also, now that I've rekindled my passion, I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with acupuncture points and energy work and stuff.
Like me and my partner got pretty sick with the Flu this weekend (still dealing with it). But it's been really interesting to experiment with acupressure on different points, and seeing how it feels but also how it helps my symptoms, which surprisingly is alot.
Like my partner was having a really hard time with sleeping due to a nonstop cough, and I was able to help their cough subside and breath easier. They also had a frontal headache that they almost had instant results with.
And for me - I've noticed that acupressure on certain points was able to help some nausea that I've had. But not even 30 minutes ago I've been up with a terrible fever, and I did acupressure on certain points in a certain order to clear heat, and my fever like immediately started going down and I started feeling better and now I think it's almost gone as I'm typing this (:
It's very cool and fascinating to me that I am able to achieve such results with simple acupressure, no needles - needling would be much more effective.
But that's exactly what I want to study and experiment with - I want to be able to affect my Qi and other people's energy and bodies with my own energy and Qi. I am fascinated with the idea of treating according to TCM with more energy woek and qigong than needles, and I am really excited to start learning more (:
Anywho, I think that's it for now. Thanks for reading! Hope everyone has a wonderful day today!
Blessings!

Charisse & Darling's surprise birthday gift
Tumblr media
Two were born in August 19th, at the different kingdom; Magnolia and Melodie. Both living peacefully with family, but there's issues suffer through cause their personalities changed.
They learned a skill and became a talent; Darling learned traditional medicine under the tutelage of his parents, while Charisse learned to play the piano from his father.
Both have siblings. They always maintain a friendly relationship, although there has quarrel.
➽──────────────❥
Before the birthday coming, two were busily trained for their idol performance on next week. They gathered in the Nymfevilla dorm, so they can discuss better.
Charisse got the message from Lumiere. It texted, "Sis, next Saturday is your birthday. Our fathers decides to make a present for you, but they didn't share with me. What do you think they would give you? "
She was clueless before reply the message. Soon the chat sent a new message.
"Same. Might wait on your birthday to reveal." Lumiere respond before sent a "Good Night" emoji. It is a puppy sleeping on the bed.
Charisse saw it and said with a soft chuckle, "Lumi always is the cutest boy in the world, just like Daddy Simi. He is only person who send emojis on chat oftens. "
Darling overheard, and smiled, "Cherry, your brother definitely is a softie, like one of your daddy you mentioned."
Charisse chuckled like a tune. She asked in the interest, "Darlin, do you think what kind of birthday present your parents give?"
"Could be a dress. It is a Chinese traditional. " Darling casually answered. "Or a bag for collect herbs."
Darling, as the princess of Magnolia Kingdom, receives birthday presents every year, and each one is repeated over and over again, which she forgot everything that sealed at the store room.
Moreover, her parents least giving her presents, they only gave her a stationery and scent pouch since she was elementary student. They even not preparing a party for her, that they had been busy on the medical emergency.
➽──────────────❥
On the day of the last practice, the Impish Royals gathered in the dance studio. Jennifer told them that the show would open on August of 19th, which is two members' birthday.
The first time birthday girls think this day their friends will celebrate it. They were a little excited for that day arrive.
During training, they planned songs for the show, which is what Lizzie suggested. They dance to the choreography on the video. Finally on the day, the performance filled with audiences and their friends from other schools were invited to the show.
➽──────────────❥
The show ended later, they back to dorms.
At the room, Charisse saw a white box adorned blue-and-green gradient ribbon on the desk, same as Darling got the box with aqua green ribbon. They opened, then amazed at the present. Inside is a dress and hair ornaments.
➽──────────────❥
Charisse found the card under the dress. She slowly read.
Happy birthday, Cherry!
This dress is our idea for you as a perfect gift. We have been design it for several days. We give a hope and wish to you, since you are our little star.
Soon the group chat appears with a lot of messages. Her relatives greeted her for a good blessing. She felt lucky to have best family for life.
➽──────────────❥
Darling got a few of letters under the box. Some are written by grown-ups. She opened the letter that her parents sent.
Lillie,
Happy birthday. Sorry for not celebrate with you all those years. This dress is you been dreaming of since childhood. We make this together with full of love we haven't given for you.
She shredding with a happy tears emotionally after read all letters. Feel a happiness from her family and missed them so much. She can feel her parents' love always stay inside.

Trying to be more positive, and I don't like people associating me with things I hate irl, so here are some things I love. Reblog this with things you love!
Tumblr media
-Art. Pretty much any art. Paintings, sculptures, digital art, traditional art, etc
-Cartoons. I really like shows like Pokemon, Helluva boss, Hazbin hotel, Lego monkie kid, Bluey, and my favorite cartoon movie is The Lego Batman Movie
-Drawing. Definitely one of my favorite things, and I do it all the time. My entire account is a drawing blog, lol

-Birds. I really love birds! I have bird feeders which I haven't filled in a awhile, but I loved watching the birds come down and eat. I hear a crow and a Bluejay every morning, but I've only seen the Bluejay once, and I really want to see them again! And there's a Robin, a Sparrow, and a dove couple that live in my tree and I really love them
-Plush toys. Most of them are in the basement as I redecorate my room, but there are some that I still sleep with. My favorite one is this teddy bear named Bosco
-Plants and herbs. I find that stuff very interesting, and I love learning about plant life and the different uses and symbolism of flowers and herbs

-Cottagecore. Nature also works, bit cottagecore has a nice feeling to it. The scenery is very comforting to me
-Mushrooms. Mushrooms are very interesting, and I like the names and visuals of them. The food is okay
That's all I can think of right now, lol. Thanks for reading if you got this far!
