#chip and dale movie questions
Note
I feel like Rescue Rangers movie would have been infinitely better had they used Chanticleer the Rooster from the scrapped Disney movie of the same name. Since Chanticleer seemed to be unlikeable in every draft, it would make more sense for him to be the villain. On a different and brighter note, I think Jack from Laugh O Grams would be besties with Peter Pan, given they are really similar. Jack is more of a day-dreamer though [especially in the short Jack The Giant Killer].
I disagree purely on the reason that I have A LOT of problems with this film beyond the Peter Pan situation. Like Peter's situation is just the tip of the big three icebergs of problems I got with this waste of a film- this INSULT to the beauty that is Who framed Roger Rabbit.
Like even taking Peter away, while it might fix the film for a lot of people, especially Peter Pan fans. But for me? It's not gonna work still. Because I'm not only a Peter Pan fan, I'm a Toon Fan.
And this movie did ALL TOONS FUCKING DIRTY. ALL OF 'EM.
The only way for this film to get infinitely better is to scrap the entire thing and start it from over- brand new concept, new script, new crew. Because no matter who you replace with who, someone is getting character assassinated or are not being utilised to their fullest potential, and the lore will still be dogshit that won't make sense.
Sorry for the rant.
Back to Peter, I'm willing to bet Peter is just friends with all the Disney toon kids. Especially if they're from his era. He's a friendly lil bugger like that

Do you think there might be some problems that could develop with SAGE showcasing indie games? SAGE was created as an event for the Sonic fandom to make fan games, but now indie games have become part of it. Nothing against it on principle, but what about the legal area? SAGE is still tied to Sonic's image, would it count as using Sonic to sell other products? Or would it be a Chip 'n Dale's Movie Sonic case?
Top comment on the showcase trailer video:
Tumblr media
If there were problems, Sega would be the ones causing them, and that's the official Sonic brand account giving their sign of approval.
SAGE was created, speaking as the creator of SAGE here, to demystify fangaming and show the world it had a positive effect on the world. Fangames were seen as illegal bootlegs when I started the event, and I sought to change that perception.
Now, yes, generally speaking, I think if you're trying to stay on the up and up, disconnecting your fangame from commercial promotion as much as humanly possible is the best way to keep your nose clean. Don't run ads on your website, don't run ads on gameplay footage, DEFINITELY do not in any way even LOOK at crowdfunding or paying employees. Stay away from any and all money I/O. Which is very difficult if not impossible because even hosting a website means you are exchanging money with someone in order to distribute your game.
So you have to decide an acceptable level to compromise your morals if you hope to put your game out there, and how much risk that creates for you depends on the company in question, I guess.
Hosting your game on Itch.io? Well, as long as you create a standalone account separate from any real monetized game creation you plan on doing, that might be okay. They don't run ads on Itch.io that I know about.
Hosting your game on Game Jolt? Slightly more risky, because Game Jolt serves ads on their download page.
Mediafire? More risky, because I feel like Mediafire shows extra invasive ads, including, last I heard, those ads that have fake download buttons on them. So not only is Mediafire making money, they are engaging in active deception.
Hosting it on a Patreon? Way more risky. Even if you have the post set to $0, you are bringing people to a page where they can give you money for your services.
I technically do this with some of my very old game projects, but none of those are anywhere close to finished games, and they are all almost universally just fragments of unimportant side projects. For example, I do not have builds of TFH up there, or MarioWeen. It's mostly just software I started and did not finish, mixed in with a couple of like, early alpha engine tests if I remember right.
I've also thought about just straight up taking them down and hosting them somewhere else (the itch.io archive might be my best bet, or even archive.org). It does make me uncomfortable to have them up there, but it was a stable, clean place to host things like that when I first launched that Patreon, like, what, 8 years ago? Now they're buried at the very very very bottom of my post list and I'm probably the only person who remembers that they're there.
Anyway, if it was a problem, I think Sega would let us know. And I say "let us know" instead of, say, just stomping their boot all over SAGE and killing it without recourse. I think, given what a positive force it is not just in the community, but in the indie gaming space, if it was a problem, they could talk it out with whoever is running the show that year.
But this is a place to cultivate future game developers. It is good for the game industry. And I've said it here, or maybe other places, but I've often wondered if Steam's multiple demo events they host every year was inspired by something like SAGE. It's kind of become a big deal, and it keeps growing to be a bigger deal every year, and at least so far, nobody's abused or exploited it yet.
Not that they even could -- SAGE is curated. Not a lot, but enough that I know there were booths rejected for 2024. You can be, and people have been, kicked out of SAGE for being abusive. Participating in SAGE is a privilege, not a public service.
So I think everything will be fine.

Wandering Part One
*Song title inspired by In The Woods Somewhere by Hozier- I do not own the writes to this song I am using it solely for creative purposes*
Tw: nasty gore, violence, death, strong language

Chapter two- In The Woods Somewhere
Victoria didn’t sleep much. It wasn’t the fact that she didn’t trust Dale. Which, she didn’t trust him at all but it was a roof over the kids heads for the night. Something about that Andrea girl didn’t feel right to her. Carl and Sophia were curled up on each side of her on the RV floor. Sophia softly cried most of the night but Victoria assured her that the girl would see her family again.
“Carl, wake up, it's time to go.”
Carl groaned and rolled over. Victoria nudged his face again and he jolted up. His body relaxed when he remembered he was with her.
“Here’s your gun back, thanks for letting us stay the night but the sun's up so we’d better get going.” Victoria shook Dale's hand, she truly was thankful for his kindness as they were facing unknown territory with seemingly rabid humans running around.
Dale called out to the group that they should find him again when their families were found because a group would be safer. Victoria nodded her head and gave him a thumbs up as they kept walking through the woods. Victoria and Carl were used to hiking in rougher territory but Sophia was not so Victoria kept her on her back most of the walk.
“Maybe they went to water?” Carl asked.
“Mmm, that’s not a bad idea…plus we’ve been walking for a few hours. Let’s see if we can’t find a creek with running water so we’re not drinking anything stagnant.”
“What’s wrong with stagnant water?” Sophia asked.
“Well…if it’s standing or stagnant water it can hold a bunch of nasty things in it that aren’t good for you. But if the water is running, those nasty things can’t get a hold and live as well.”
They cut through and found a running creek, Carl and Sophia ran down as fast as their legs could carry them to the water. Carl fell to his knees and began to soak up as much water as he could. Sophia gingerly cupped her hands to the river, and then to her mouth.
“Jeez Carl, you act like you haven’t had water in weeks” Victoria couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of her brother's head fully drenched in the river. She fell next to Carl and began to drink from the river as well, when the group was satisfied they decided to follow the rivers trail hoping to find their families.
After a few hours Sophia got tired so Victoria pulled the girl onto her back. It was starting to get dark and Victoria worried about not having shelter. She was relatively strong but wasn’t sure if she could take on more than one of those things at a time.
They made her think of the old zombie horror movies she would watch with her friends but these weren’t zombies they were…different. Victoria could’ve sworn the one she’d killed the night before tried to talk to her. It wasn’t just like the cartoons she’d seen where they just moaned and groaned. They still carried some remnants of life.
“I’m hungry.” Carl's pleas broke Victoria from her thoughts.
“Hmm. We’re coming back up to the road, maybe we can find a gas station or raid an empty car on the highway.”
“Isn’t that stealing?” Sophia piped up from behind Victoria
“Probably. But I don’t think there are any cops on the road and we have to worry about surviving kiddo.”
The group slowly made their way back onto the highway, scoping any source of food in the area. Victoria made sure to keep the kids close since there were crazed people running around. They found a few abandoned cars and were able to get some snacks from them: beef jerky, chips, and some canned goods. Most things people carried preparing for the unknown. This is something no one could prepare for.
“So now what?” Carl's mouth was full of chips, but somehow Victoria understood his question.
“It’s getting dark. We need to find a place to hole up for the night.” Victoria pulled Sophia onto her back as the group weaved through the cars, she tried to shake away the unnerving feeling that kept tugging at her.
They were being watched. “Here, stay here and let me check this RV and make sure it’s empty. If anything happens, scream.” The kids nodded.
Victoria tightened her grip on her hunting knife and crept into the RV, the drivers area and cabin were empty. Despite seemingly finding shelter, Victoria still felt uneasy. As she made it towards the back bedroom, a scream made her whip around and dart back to the street.
“VICTORIA!! HELP!”
Victoria jumped from the RV onto a woman who was trying to attack Sophia, stabbing her several times in the back of the head. “GET. OFF. OF. HER!” The woman crumpled to the ground. Sophia sobbed on the ground and Carl held her. Victoria inspected the woman and she looked the same as the man from the night before, except there was a nasty bite mark on her neck.
“Soph, let me look at you okay? I have to make sure she didn’t hurt you.” Victoria knelt down and let out a sigh of relief when she saw Sophia was clean.
“Hey are yall okay?” A voice came from behind, Victoria spun around and pinned the voice to the car next to them.
“Tori?”
“It’s Victoria, Nathan, you know I hate that nickname…but I sure am glad to see you! What the hell is going on?”
Victoria released her death grip on her friend Nathan. They took Government together and she was the only reason he was passing.
“I don’t know…Hey Tori you’re covered in blood, none of that is yours right?”
Victoria looked down and sure enough, she was covered in the blood of the woman she’d killed. “No no, it’s all that crazy bitches blood I promise.” Nathan’s younger brother Evan ran up and met the group, they were all staying on the road in an RV, somehow missing the herds of crazy people running around.
“Hey big ask but, can we stay with y’all for the night? I’ll be lucky if I get Sophia to leave in the morning but we’re not far from Shane’s truck and I need to find my mom.”
“Yeah sure…wait just your mom?” Nathan shot Victoria a concerned look, her features darkened and her smile became a pursed line. “Oh..yeah of course, my parents love you so we’ll make room. We’re only a couple miles down the road.”
Nathan threw Carl on his back and Victoria kept Sophia close as they walked through the dark, crowded road. They walked in silence, the only noise being Sophia’s muffled cries.
Then the rain started.
“Well at least you’re getting a bath” Carl half heartedly joked “mom wouldn’t want to see you all nasty.” Victoria couldn’t help but smile. Carl was always one to make everyone laugh when things were hard.
“So where were y'all headed?” Nathan shouted over the thunder. That thunder would haunt Victoria forever. If only she could’ve heard them coming.
“Atlanta! Although Shane kept spouting some nonsense about Fort Benning!” She shouted back. Nathan laughed, his dad had the same plan apparently. Although his dad was smart and not an asshole like Shane. She went to ask Evan about school when her steps faltered.
Evan was back behind them, he couldn’t scream because one of those things had bitten through his throat. The sight made her want to vomit. Except there wasn’t just one, there was a whole pack. Tearing his flesh off like paper, tearing through him like his muscles were made of jelly. Victoria could feel the bile raising in her throat.
“EVAN!” Nathan put Carl down and began to make his way to his brother. Victoria stopped him.
“Nate. Nathan! He’s gone.” She choked down a sob, he was only 14. Not much younger than her and not much older than Carl. But he was gone now, just a shell of who he used to be. Victoria made the decision to grab Nathan and drag him away from the growing pack, instructing Carl and Sophia to run ahead.
She didn’t have anything else on her mind but survive. Even though Nathan screamed at her to let him go, he was in a weak state which meant he was easy to drag off.
There was yelling all around her. Sophia screams were mixed with her own terrified screams and Carl was telling Sophia they needed to run and there was no time for crying.
“Nathan, give me your gun.” In their running Victoria noticed a glock on Nathan’s hip.
“What?!”
“Give me your gun Nathan please.”
Nathan stopped running, and fiddled with the holster to give it to her. When one of them came up from behind. Before she could react, a man came up behind Nathan, its jaw snapping his collar bone like a twig, he cried out in pain. Victoria stabbed it in the head and threw Nathan’s arm over her shoulder as they kept running.
“I’m…slowing you down.”
“Shut up.”
Truth be told he was slowing them down. But maybe that lady that attacked Sophia had been bitten after? She’d picked up the tip about aiming for the head from Andrea and that small tip was saving their lives. Everyone was drenched and shivering as the rain continued to pour and the pack kept following them.
“Oh my god Nathan!” An older couple ran up to the group, it was Nathan’s parents.
“What the hell happened?” His father questioned at the sight of his dying son.
“We cannot stop to talk we have to keep moving.” Thunder cracked over their heads, Sophia yelped and grabbed Carl.
“Where is Evan, Nathan, where's your brother?!” Nathan's mothers eyes were wide. Her face was a mix of confusion, pain, and sadness.
“Mrs Carter I’m sorry, we have to keep moving to shelter.” Victoria pleaded, her voice was hoarse from yelling over the storm. But the Carters didn’t keep moving…instead Mrs. Carter began to sob, her voice getting louder and louder. Mr. Carter grabbed her and told her they had to keep moving but it was like she was molded to the ground.
“Mom…mom she’s right we have to go.” Nathan was practically breathless, he was dying. This only made Mrs. Carter cry more and before they knew it the group was surrounded. Nathan threw Victoria away from him as another one of those things took him. He yelled something before he went.
And in an instant Nathan’s body dropped to the ground with the crazy man that grabbed him. Mrs. Carter fell to the ground, holding her hands over her mouth.
“Carl, grab Sophia and run into the woods!”
“Not without you!” Carl cried, holding Sophia’s hand which had a death grip on his arm. “Go, I’m right behind you!” Carl and Sophia darted off into the woods.
Victoria turned back and stabbed another one of those things trying to get away to her brother. The Carter’s held each other as they were surrounded. Victoria did them a favor and shot them both before the dead could get to them. She was just a teenage girl, where had this murderous side of her come from? Sure when she killed those things they were dead but the Carters….
She didn’t take much time to dwell on it; she needed to find Carl and Sophia. Victoria darted into the woods, killing two more of those things because they were in her way.
“Carl! Sophia!” She could hear those things all around her, a lump started to build in her throat. Carl was smart, he’d hide somewhere safe…right? Victoria kept running, hoping the kids ran into their families.
They’d essentially walked in a big circle so maybe they could’ve run into Dale, Victoria was certain he would take the kids in until she found them again. She had to keep her thoughts hopeful or the fear would consume her.
Her thoughts certainly kept her from paying attention. As she ran through the dark woods she tripped on a raised root, spraining her ankle in the process. She rolled into a clearing cursing everything around her. This is just wonderful. Stuck in the woods, separated from Carl and now she had her fucking ankle to worry about.
She attempted to get up and fell back on her ass, cursing at the hot white pain that shot up her leg. Victoria pulled herself back up and clenched her jaw, trying to keep any weight off of her foot.
“Carl! Sophia! Where are you?” She cried out. Crying out from frustration, from pain, from desperation. The storm continued to rage all around her. Then she was knocked to the ground. No. No, no, no, no.
Victoria struggled against the weight above her until she was face to face with a rotting corpse. She screamed out, pulling her arms up to keep its face as far away from her as possible. It tried to snap at her hand, attempting to pull her arms off of its body.
How was it doing that? She wished she could plead with the shell of a man who was trying to kill her. She didn’t see him as a person but truly as “it”. Victoria screamed out again for help. At this point she was begging for any help she could get. Another snap of its jaw, she could feel the hot breath against her neck.
“No, no, no, please.” She begged. In this moment she remembered she had a gun…oh fuck. She’d lost the gun she’d gotten off Nathan when she fell on that stupid fucking tree branch. Her arms were getting tired, she was tired. No. She had to keep fighting. She tried to kick her legs up in hopes of pushing it off.
Victoria pushed the side of its face as hard as she could, it’s cheek sliding off it’s face like hot butter leaving its teeth fully exposed. Blood from his bloodied tongue dripped onto her face, and she lost her grip trying to wipe the blood away from her mouth and eyes.
“Hey!” Its head was picked up and cut off, spraying blood everywhere. Victoria looked up at her savior with wide eyes. He held a machete in one hand and the things head in the other. He dropped the head and extended a hand to Victoria. “You Victoria?” He asked gruffly. She shakily nodded.
“Y-yeah I’m V-ictoria.”
“Good, they’ve been looking for you all night. Carl and Sophia are safe, they told us to look for you by the highway.” Carl and Sophia were safe, thank god. “I’m Daryl by the way.”
Victoria was silent and shaking violently. She was covered in blood, and none of it was hers. Before she knew what was happening Daryl was holding her up as she got sick. She explained to Daryl that she couldn’t walk with her ankle and so he pulled her onto his back and they made their way back to camp.
As the rain started to fizzle out Victoria started to recognize the terrain, and a certain small clearing in the hills.
And just as she’d hoped, there stood Dale at the top of his RV with a pair of Binoculars. He waved someone down when he spotted Veronica and Daryl, Daryl set her down when they got to the RV but she still kept a firm grip on him. He wasn’t much taller than she was. He seemed to have a closed off personality but she felt safe with him.
“Dale!” She hugged him tightly. “Where are the kids?”
“Over there” he pointed to Carol and her mom holding their children. “they’re pretty shaken up, what happened out there? I just saw y’all this morning.” Dale’s face held a strong look of concern.
Victoria’s shoulders slumped, where would she even start? She started to shake again and could feel Daryl grab both her elbows to hold her up. She felt sick again, and shut her eyes tightly hoping it would ease her swimming head.
“Victoria!” Before she could process what was happening, Shane was pulling her into a tight hug. And while the only person she wanted at that moment was her dad, she couldn’t help but break down knowing she was safe the arms of someone familiar.
She held both hands over her mouth as her sobs wracked her body. Everything that had happened in a matter of a couple hours- if that, was finally starting to set in.
Sophia being attacked, the Carters, the man in the woods, the blood. She cringed at the way her thoughts raged through her head. It was almost too much for one person to bare. She accepted at that moment that she would never be the same again, and it absolutely terrified her.
“Shane I- It almost,” Shane shushed her and just petted her hair until she was finished crying. Lori took her and got her cleaned up. Washed all the blood off and got her into clean clothes without question of the horrors she’d just faced. Victoria never knew her mother to be the silent type but maybe after seeing Carl she knew better than to ask.
After she was clean, Lori took her into Dale’s RV and held her while Shane stabilized her ankle. When he was done he left, Lori said that Victoria could stay on the RV couch because she’d be safe until she could put weight on her ankle.
Carl came into the rv and silently crawled into her lap, forcing himself to fit so that she could hold him. She rubbed his back in small circles with one hand and with the other played with his hair. It was something Lori always did for them. And despite how absolutely terrified she was, Victoria could feel her eyelids getting heavy.
Andera came in from her watch and let out a sigh of relief at the sight of Victoria and Carl passed out on the RV couch. And while it would be the last time Victoria slept peacefully for a very long time, her adrenaline crash kept the nightmares away this night.
AN: after 50 million years and watching my tutorial just as many times I finally figured out how to copy the link for chapter one! I am actually so sorry for the gore guys but it’s only going to get worse from here I’m afraid😔🙏🏻
Hope yall enjoy regardless of how nasty this story is going to be😁

Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers: Secrets and Lies
So this is writing itself, I pictured this as a Sequel to the Chip and Dale Movie,
Synopsis: When the Kids of Disney Characters start going missing, it's up to Chip and Dale to uncover a past to the Disney Company long forgotten.
Rating: Teen
Scene: Takes Place in Chips office at the Detective Agency after Maxwells Kidnapping.
Edit fanfic is released!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Oh geez, please not this old feud," Chip muttered, rubbing his temples, making Dale look at him in questioning, the other handing the folder over
He scratched his head,
"This just says Roxanne said it was a black and white toon, short in stature that kidnapped Max, not much to go on, sure Black and white toons are rare, but theres plenty of them already made."
Chip took it back,
"Not if you don't know the Disney Companies History, Mr Disney's history."
Dale looked confused, cocking his head,
"You've lost me, Disney never had bad blood or history,"
Chip opened a filing cabinet, putting the folder away before sorting through it, pulling out another thicker folder blowing the dust off before setting it heavily on the desk,
"You and I weren't active when He came Home. I just knew because I still hung around Goofy, a certain Michael Mouse was apparently very interested in getting him back into our fold," Flipping it open to show a Rabbit beaming at them standing next to Walt " Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is special in comparison to the rest of us. He was Walt's first Mascot, before Mickey,"
Dale gasped, sitting up with a grin, leaning on the desk
"Ohhh this tea is piping, so Mr Disney left him behind?"
The glare from his brother shut him up,
"You know he never did that to any of us,"
"Youth makes fools out of us all," Dale shrugged, making Chip sigh. He couldn't fight that,
"No, he didn't, in 1923 Walt created Oswald with Ub Iwerks" Dale whistled as the other continued " After a few shorts, Disney wanted better pay but the problem being is the contract would give over all rights of Oswald to the Warner company….he loved the Rabbit that was his Son so of course he rejected this,"
Chip slid a photo over showing a black and white photo of Walt leaned over an animation table Oswald on the man's shoulder the man held a small smile his hand on the rabbits head in a fond way the toon laughing,
"So Oswald is Mickeys older brother?" The other chipmunk nodded as Dale looked up."What happened?"
Chips paw fisted, anger crossed his muzzle,
"Mintz, he forged Walt's Signature, and suddenly Oswald was Universal Warners property,"
Dale stood up fast, looking beyond shocked,
"No! That's so backhanded what a b-"
"I know," his brother interrupted, "But Oswald was the victim alongside Walt. He and Ub would leave with a few others, but tucked safely in his briefcase was the sketches of the toon that would become Mickey Mouse,"
Dale slumped back into the chair, slowly saying
"So without Oswald being kidnapped....Mickey wouldn't exist?"
The other trailed a paw over the folder but nodded,
"Crazy I know. But yes, without Oswalds kidnapping, our boss and his baby brother wouldn't exist,"
"No wonder Mickey wanted Oswald back,"
Disney+ Originals Monsters At Work and Chip “N” Dale: Park Life Join Disney Channel’s Animation Slate On January 2023 Due A Previous Contract With Former Disney CEO.
Back in October the second season of “The Mysterious Benedict Society” was recently released on Disney+ in October, the series also did something a little different, in that new episodes, were being released on the Disney Channel the day before they were being added on to Disney+.
Since then many Disney+ Originals have aired on Disney Channel with The Wonderful Autum of Mickey Mouse on Thanksgiving weekend and Lady And The Tramp 2019 slated for December 16 and on The Oscars weekend Disney Channel aired some Pixar SparkShorts in honor of the award season
While many fans thought this was a way of promoting the show more, trying to get a bigger audience and utilise the value of a show with a dual streaming/linear release.
This lead to speculation as Disney+ Original Animated Series & Films like “The Wonderful Worl Of Mickey Mouse” “Forky Ask A Question” “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” “Dug Days” “Star Wars: Visions” “Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7″ “Star Wars: Tales Of The Jedi” “The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Specials” “Baymax” “Zootopia+” “Olaf Presents” “Cars On The Road” “Diary Of A Wimpy Kid” “Ice Age Scrat Tales” “Ice Age Adventures Of Buck Wild” “Phineas And Ferb The Movie: Candace Againts The Universe” “Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers” etc.. will join the Disney Channel lineup.
This got confirmed recently as Disney+ Original Animated Series Monsters At Work & Chip N Dale Park Life will join Disney Channel’s Animation Lineup starting January 2023.
The reason of this comes with a contract by previous Disney CEO “Bob Chapek” was trying to shift the show’s production and marketing budget from the streaming division to the linear division.
According to the WSJ,
Disney is moving some shows that were supposed to be Disney+ originals and air them first on other networks including the Disney Channel, people familiar with the matter said. By doing so, the costs of production and marketing of the shows—which included mystery show “The Mysterious Benedict Society” and medical drama “Doogie Kameāloha, M.D.”—would be shifted away from the streaming service, making its financial performance look better, they said. Ms. McCarthy was concerned about this strategy, the people said.
Hi Hi,
\ (^.^) / Hugs! I hope you are doing well.
I have a question: what are some of your favorite cartoons? Like Courage, Spongebob or Mummies alive.
If you can pick an old cartoon for them to reboot which cartoon would it be?
Wow you really went there with Mummies Alive, how dare you make me feel my age! Lol
Growing up I watched the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and Courage the Cowardly Dog, those series both hold a lot of happy memories for me!
As far as a reboot... I'd probably would say Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, they did the movie, but I want to see a TV show reboot, like how they did Duck Tales!
Everything I Managed to Watch in 2022
I might as well give you my thoughts on...exactly what it says on the tin. I'll try to keep things short and simple since I'm kinda tired and I wanna finish celebrating the year's end, lmao.
First up, the movies!
Top 5 Favorite Movies:
5. The Bad Guys
4. Sonic the Hedgehog 2
3. Rise of the TMNT
2. Pinocchio (Netflix Movie)
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
Honorable Mentions (still love them!!):
Turning Red
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers
Wendell and Wild
On the television side of things, Smiling Friends, Dead End, The Cuphead Show, and Super Robot Giant Brothers, were pretty good! The Cuphead Show got better after its rather mediocre first season and I grew to love it. Smiling Friends I was happy turned out good as I expected, and I'm excited for season 2. Dead End was a nice surprise, I grew to like the characters and I appreciated how it handled its LGBT and Autism representation. Super Giant Robot Brothers deserves more love, Reel FX did a good job with that one, had some dynamic action and fun character moments.
For decent stuff, the only one was Hamster and Gretel. Will get back to it, but I hope gets a better execution than Milo Murphy's Law, which I liked too but the second season wasn't so great, oof.
On the other hand, shows that didn't wowed me were Oddballs and sadly Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight. The former had some decent jokes and maybe a character that amused me like Max, but the other attempts at jokes fell flat and characters like Echo really annoyed me.
The Dragon Knight was like the biggest disappointment for me. As a huge fan of KFP, I was hoping it would turn out to be a good show, maybe a better outing than the last KFP TV show. But I stopped at I think episode 5 and lost interest all around. The animation was a bit unfinished, and the writing choices were kind of questionable. I am glad they brought back Jack Black as Po, but alas...
There's like other shows that aired this year along with new seasons of other shows I love, but I'll watch them for next year.
For the anime stuff, Demon Slayer Season 2 was great, same with Spy X Family and Attack on Titan. Really happy I managed to give it another shot. Chainsaw Man also aired and of course was incredible. I'm already caught up with the manga and I'm eager to see how they'll handle the rest of the story soon. Urusei Yatsura 2022 I also want to shout out. I need to get back into binging the original series, but so far, the reboot is neat!
And also, I made a list of Anime Openings I watched this year and fell in love with. Keep in mind, I haven't seen any of these anime yet based on this list, aside from the ones I just mentioned above and also My Hero Academia, but I lost interest for that series because of story problems lately, yeah...
I'll get the chance to watch the others soon, don’t worry!
So here's the Honorable Mentions first:
Honorable Mentions:
BNHA OP 10: Way better than OP 9 and the visuals were unique, but the song didn't worked for me
Spy X Family OP 2: Visuals and song are neat, but the first op is more stronger to me
Dr. Stone Ryusei: Visuals are decent, but the new version of the first OP song was just incredible
My Top 11 Favorite Anime OPs:
11. Kaguya Sama OP 3 10. Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War OP 1 9. Call of the Night 8. One Piece OP 24 7. Ya Boy Kongming 6. Urusei Yatsura 2022 5. Spy X Family OP 1 4. Mob Psycho III OP 3. Attack on Titan OP 7 2. Chainsaw Man 1. Ranking of Kings OP 2
Boom! That's it! Here's hoping 2023 turns out to be an even greater experience for me, and for the animation community as well!
Weekend Top Ten #579
Top Ten Lonely Island Songs
I’ve always been a fan of a good comedy song. Generally speaking I’ve always been out of touch with the musical zeitgeist; never knew what was supposed to be cool or uncool, and even when I did like a song chances are I didn’t know who sang it – or if I did, I didn’t know when or what album or whatever else they might have sung. However, if I heard a funny song, that would stick in my mind; instead of washing over me or just being interesting, it’d lodge in my brain on repeat and quite often be the gateway to becoming a big fan of the comedy artist in question.
Which brings us to The Lonely Island.
Like most people familiar with the band, I first discovered them through Saturday Night Live. Although we can’t really watch it over here in the UK, so many of their skits and songs that featured in the show became YouTube sensations back in the neolithic days of that all-conquering video smorgasbord. When I was at CITV, we’d regularly share funny videos around the office, and there are a couple here in this list that were office staples (not those kinds of office staples). And this is how I got to know who Andy Samberg is (alongside clips of his stoner-bro impression of Mark Zuckerberg), so that his appearances in movies became something I looked forward to, all the way up till Brooklyn Nine-Nine, one of my favourite sitcoms of all time.
So as we shared their funny songs with each other instead of writing continuity links for Pocoyo or logging clips of My Goldfish is Evil, I discovered more of their back catalogue, and my interest grew. But I’d say it exploded with the release of Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, a hilarious film that boasts some of the bands greatest songs. That’s when I really started to think about just how many cool songs these guys had made, how funny they were, and how smart and complex they were in the way they parodied different musical genres or specific songs. In a manner similar to Weird Al, as the band has gone on they’ve tackled a variety of subjects with great aplomb, to the point where some of their parodies actually work as “for-real” songs – just, y’know with jokes. And probably this is most evident in the Popstar soundtrack; maybe it’s all that palling around with Justin Timberlake, but the Lonely Island fellas are very good at doing a boyband.
Anyway. I like them! And they’re good at making films too – right up to last year’s Chip ‘n’ Dale. And I think their sensibilities carry over so much from their music to their comedy to their movies, even in things like Palm Springs, Nine-Nine, and the animated movies they’ve been a part of (more on which a bit later…). So let’s don our turtlenecks, cut a hole in a box, and get our arms T-Rexing, as we celebrate the best ever Lonely Island songs as decided by me.
Tumblr media
Spring Break Anthem (2013): like most of their songs that I love, it starts by just being funny; the OTT celebration of riotous and disturbing spring break behaviour is, well, very funny, made moreso by the music video that seems to rope in an entire break’s worth of teenagers to contribute. However it’s the juxtaposition of the ludicrous, misogynistic alpha-male macho posturing against the placid and romantic scenes of same-sex marriage that flips it up into art. It's like there’s a commentary being made about how the worst kinds of discriminatory excess can hide hidden truths about the person being offensive; here, it makes the “hetero” activities seem like extravagant gestures coming from a place of denial or even self-loathing. The tender scenes of the Lonely Island trio planning their weddings – with celebrity grooms including Ed Norton, for Pete’s sake – are superbly done. The lyrics are fantastic: “two kings walking hand in hand”. Marry a man.
Finest Girl (2016): coming from the soundtrack to Popstar, this sees Samberg in character as Conner4real, singing a romantic pop song about the finest girl he ever met in his whole life, who turned out to be a freak when she started talking. And then it just gets weird. There’s no two ways about it, it’s a surreal one, comparing – well – the act of love-making to the execution of a terrorist. There’s a pleasing comic sense of schadenfreude and celebration with the chorus’ repeated refrains of (ahem) “Fuck Bin Laden”, but it’s the other lyrics – using the imagery of covert ops to describe sex – that are most funny, especially the lines “she said ‘invade my cave with your special unit’/I said he wasn’t in a cave but there was no stopping”. Look, it’s crude and it’s silly but it’s just weird and daft and genius too.
Natalie’s Rap (2006) and Natalie’s Rap 2.0 (2018): Natalie’s Rap might have been my intro to The Lonely Island. Like a lot of comedy songs, it really hangs on one simple but humorous conceit: in this case that seemingly straight-laced actor Natalie Portman – all serious roles, humanitarian causes, and prestigious universities – was in fact a sex-crazed drug addict spouting foul-mouthed angry hip-hop. And it’s a conceit so funny it worked twice. A large part – basically, like, all the parts – of its success is Portman’s full-bodied commitment to the role, tossing off grotesque obscenities and – in the videos – just throwing stuff around. And, of course, the lyrics themselves are really funny; there’s a purity to the first video (I just couldn’t separate them) but I think the wordplay is funnier second time round, with more specific references to things like Black Swan and Portman’s marriage, as well as an absolutely inspired and disturbing Star Wars sequence.
Like a Boss (2009): another one that rose high for me when I worked at CITV, and so was an early introduction into the band and their wider oeuvre. And the appeal of this one is very simple: the heavy refrain (“Like a boss”) is funny in and of itself, but then the lyrics become increasingly surreal to the point of outright derangement, all of this apparently taking place within the confines of some kind of job appraisal. But the randomness of some of the lyrics – “find a giant fish/fuck its brains out” – is to be applauded; it’s just a really silly, funny little song. And apparently it’s a parody? I dunno. But I guess that would make the Bosch ad campaign a little more understandable.
Jack Sparrow (2011): once more we have a song that benefits from a humorous juxtaposition, as Michael Bolton provides smooth accompaniment to a crude hip hop track about picking up girls. But, like quite a few of their songs, it goes super-surreal as Bolton just croons a bunch of film references. The call-and-response nature of the lyrics – “okay that was kinda weird but we’re back in the club” – provides a lot of laughs, but it’s Bolton’s very game insertion into typical Island craziness that excels, whether it’s dressing up as Erin Brockovich or singing crude lyrics from Scarface.
Dick in a Box (2006): in a way the song that seemed to start it all, an SNL skit – the first to co-star Timberlake – that’s a mid-noughties pop ballad about love and romance, all centred knobs in parcels. The obvious comedy is derived from presenting such a thing as a sweet romantic gesture, but the song – and video – gives so much more. Timberlake is incredibly game – as he is in all his contributions with Lonely Island, including sweeping the floors in Jizz in My Pants – and the scenes of him and Samberg dancing with Christmas presents strapped to their nethers is a comic joy. It builds so well, climaxing in all the places you can experience a box/penis interface (“over at your parents’ house”, “midday at the grocery store”) but what I think everyone who hears it loves the most is the instructions: “One: cut a hole in a box”.
Diaper Money (2013): contrasting the rough hip hop braggadocio style with something that seems culturally at the other end of the spectrum is a comic stock in trade – here the guys are angrily rapping, boasting about their success, but the things they extol are rather mundane. However, what floats my boat, is it’s a particularly middle-class, early-middle-age kind of boastfulness, about marriage and fatherhood. And, really, the very concept of “diaper money” is quite funny to me.
Jizz in My Pants (2008): most of the Island songs are some flavour of hip hop, R&B, or pop, but here they spoof an entire other genre. Really, this is their take on the Pet Shop Boys, and it’s really well done; fast staccato delivery, urban imagery, and a good fist of their accents to boot. And then, yes, there’s the song’s subject matter and lyrics, the rapid-fire wordplay leading up to a series of hilarious climaxes. The middle eight, running through a series of insane scenarios that produce the titular effect, is a comic gem; “When Bruce Willis was dead at the end of Sixth Sense…” The only real negative I can think of is that as a PSB spoof it’s not quite as good as Inner City Pressure.
Motherlover (2009): another of a trilogy of videos featuring Samberg and Timberlake as a weird early-noughties pop duo, I love the call and response lyrics here as they discuss their odd little plan, so fabulously icky and uncomfortable as they sing frankly about their mums and the “switcheroo”. It’s creepy and demented – “I’m pushing that lady where you came out as a baby” – and it gets worse as the song goes on. Worth highlighting the supremely game Susan Sarandon and Patricia Clarkson as the mothers who, er, get loved.
Equal Rights (2016): another terrific turn by Conner4real, duetting with Pink in a song about homophobia and oppression and, well, equal rights. It’s a great parody of incurious celebrities latching on to progressive topics in a cynical manner, exemplified here in Conner’s frequent assertions that despite singing about gay rights he’s “not gay”; a thread that grows until it takes over the entire song in a list of supposedly macho and heterosexual things (“hot wings!”). And hey, if girls wanna have sex with him just cause he said this, so be it!
So there’s one song that could have been on this list I guess – Everything is Awesome. But they only co-wrote and appear on the track, so I’ve decided it – and the other Lego Movie songs they contributed to – don’t really count as fully-fledged Lonely Island numbers. But it’d be up there! For reals!
Also, if I’m doing bonus stuff, I really love their “Oscar song demo” that was scrapped by the Academy.
Toon Lore Worldbuilding hcs
This thread covers my thoughts about how Who Framed Roger Rabbit is inspired by the Looney Tunes, and introduces discussion about the lore implications of the, at the time, recently released Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers movie -- specifically covering the relevance of Dip, how Dip could've played into Mickey's meta-character development in this history, and how it corresponds to his character becoming progressively sanitized.
(Adding the read more tag here because this post is hefty. All the text proceeding this is my live commentary from back then)
I like how this movie is technically a disney movie, but toontown is very undoubtedly inspired by the looney tunes. And Roger himself has a mantra that abides by a looney tunes’ centric disposition.
It’s so strange cuz it was the epitome of american cartoons from that era. And in that time period, the looney tunes was just so obviously influential to the gags, Roger’s character, the nature and worldbuilding of the movie… Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers honestly felt like an unintentional response to BiA
Two broken up famous toon pairings having to rebuild their relationship and we explore it outside of the context of their respective shorts/show.
Except Chip n Dale are basically unrecognizeable from their established personas in the og show (I confidently assume)
Which… if I were to use their movie as further worldbuilding for the nature of toons, would bring even more cool speculations…
CGI animation is surgery for them… and sometimes is done in an attempt by washed up toons to become “relevant”.
It is currently considered somewhat taboo. Most of the looney tunes seem to be opposed to it. With exceptions being Daffy (who seems indifferent to it in SJ2 and with his appearance in Daffy’s rhapsody). And implied (conjecture ik) — are Elmer, Sylvester, Granny, Tweety, Road Runner, and Wile E Coyote. As they have all appeared in 3D shorts before. Wait are those 3D shorts similar to being CGI animated?
Idek… so like, maybe that last paragraph is null… and Bugs (and some of the other tunes) are against CGI, but fine with being 3D. Which avoids complications like 3D rendered game models and such.
Chip and Dale definitely watched Space Jam 2 btw. I don’t make the rules… So I’m doing heavy hc-ing that the rest of the disney cast also watched that movie. Oh, and that dip, as well as toon trafficking are serious issues in their society.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Present day thoughts: I'm not as invested by Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers' addition to toon lore. The whole "characters are born in this world and go through school" overcomplicates things as it leads into questions like "can toons procreate?" "do toons simply age like humans?" "are toons just like us?" -- these kinds of things feel like they take away from the fantastical nature of cartoons and animation. Toon lore, for me personally, has the toons originate directly from human creators. Their purposes being predetermined and their relationship to humans being inherently subservient added dark implications to the environment of Who Framed Roger Rabbit's universe, which had the toons and humans' relationship serve as an allegory for racial segregation... The existentialist nightmare of a toon's existence feels too important of a concept to be rewritten out of the fabric of that world. Tiny Toons actually expands on the aging logic for toons, but that discussion is for another ramble...
100+ Films of 1952
Film number 115: Lydia Bailey
Release date: June 2nd, 1952
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Genre: historical adventure
Director: John Negulesco
Producer: Jules Schermer
Actors: Dale Robertson, Anne Francis, William Marshall
Plot Summary: In 1802 Haitians are fighting the French for their independence. Albion Hamlin, a white lawyer from the United States, arrives in Haiti to finalize the will of a rich American whose father’s estate was bequeathed to the US government. While there, he gets caught up in the battles between black Haitians and Napoleon’s forces.
My Rating (out of five stars): ***¼
I’ll admit that I was hesitant to watch this, fearing it would be incredibly racist. I was pleased to discover that the film was surprisingly progressive in a lot of ways. First and foremost, the most compelling, heroic, and charismatic character in the whole film was a black man fighting for his country’s freedom and independence. The movie threw all its chips in with the black Haitians, even explicitly comparing their cause with the cause of U.S. independence.
The Good:
William Marshall as King Dick. He was the movie for me. (And, yes, I know- his character’s name can be giggle inducing today.) His character was, as I said above, a compelling and impressive leader. Marshall himself was a wonderful actor imbuing the character with charisma and an almost regal stature. I would have given the film a much lower rating if he wasn’t in it.
The portrayal of freedom fighters. The black Haitians fighting the French were shown as having a worthy cause- they were the good guys. (There were some black characters that were fighting against our protagonists, and they were villainized, but not any worse than the French.) There was clearly an attempt to make American audiences see parallels with our own revolution.
Black people were generally not dehumanized. Looking at the poster for the film, I worried the Haitians might be portrayed as a foreign “other” with little humanity, but for a film in 1952, this did a pretty good job of avoiding it- go to the Bad section for a caveat, though.
It was exposure to history most Americans know very little about.
It lacked “white saviorism.” The cast was majority black with a white protagonist, but it didn’t turn into a white savior film. Most of the white people were the bad guys. Hamlin wasn’t needed to save the Haitians or help them win the war; he played a minor part in it. King Dick and the real life General Toussaint Louverture were much more influential.
The black characters were all played by black actors!
There was a fun little nod to Ben Franklin’s womanizing ways. An older French woman tells Hamlin she met and adored Franklin, and Hamlin replies, “Yes, I heard he was a great favorite with the ladies.”
The Bad:
The romance and attempted love triangle fell completely flat. Hamlin and Lydia barely seemed to talk enough for there to be anything realistic about their love, it just felt like a typical shoehorned-in romantic side plot in an adventure/war movie.
The character of Hamlin. Dale Robertson was certainly nice to look at, but the script gave him little to work with, and he wasn’t able to transcend it.
Anne Francis. Her acting just wasn’t the greatest- she was pretty wooden. She was beautiful in a way- but although she was 21 in real life, she disconcertingly looked about 15 or 16. It made me uncomfortable.
The plotting and sequencing weren’t the greatest either- it could be confusing at times and title cards kept having to break in, feeding us information about the dates and details of the war.
Accents again! This had the usual Classical Hollywood questionable accents- most egregious was the old mother of D’autremont. The actress was good, but the accent she used was jarringly un-French.
There were some cringy moments of more casual racism.
Regarding the “other-izing” of the black Haitians: Sometimes footage of natives drumming out messages had an exoticizing side-show vibe. The opening title card was a racist dog whistle, explaining that the environment in Haiti at the time was “keyed to hysteria by the constant beat of jungle drums.” Blech.
Trigger warning: blackface. This wasn’t nearly as bad as in I Dream of Jeanie, because no character was performing or entertaining in blackface... but it was still highly uncomfortable to watch. In this case, at least, the plot required Hamlin, Lydia, and her adopted son to blend in with black Haitians. If they were traveling with black freedom fighters like King Dick, other factions of Haitians might think they were French and kill them. They were doing it to not get killed, not demean and appropriate black culture, but still...
The pulp novel style movie poster grossly sensationalized everything, and there was more dog whistling with the “wild beat-beat of a thousand voodoo drums” line. Again, really?!
Tooning in 2. Dev Ross Part 2 of 7
Tumblr media
DL: oh. well do you wanna talk about your career?
DR: Sure. I'm leaving next Friday to attend as a guest speaker the South Korean Content Market. I plan to pitch some of my latest stuff - all live action projects save for one animated .
DL: that's exciting! question one, writing plus voice directing for chip N dale rescue rangers?
DR: Yes! Best time ever! Tad Stones knew I had done a lot of acting so thought I'd make a good voice director. I did!
DL: so a couple of episodes i'll like to go over.
DR: Oh boy...
DL: don't worry, only the important episodes.
DR: People often ask me about why I wrote certain stories but it was a long time ago! I will most likely give answers that disappoint
DL: That's ok. All it matters is that you know the story behind the episodes. So,adventures in squirrelsitting?
DR: Did I write that episode?
DL: yes you did. the episode where chip n dale babysit two squirrels, while trying to find the maltese mouse statue. one of squirrel siblings had a crush on chip. on imdb.
DR: Yes, Tad and I co-wrote that one.
DL: the process on coming up with the premise?
DR: The process is the same as to all our ideas. We get a basic idea like babysitting and then start spit balling on how to make it work with our characters. Throw in an emotional story like a crush and let it play out against the larger action story. We always made sure our emotional story rammed right into the action story to create more obstacles. Tad and I both had babies so we often used ideas from having our own kids.
DL: Woah! Using inspiration from real life! Now that's a great source of story martial.
DR: Most of my stories were rooted in my life. Perhaps just fragments but just a funny moment from your kid can transform into an entire story. I especially did that on my Land Before Time sequels.
DL: zipper comes home?
DR: Yes.
DL: Was the process was you were using the classic "i'm a mess up, i'm leaving" trope that used in other cartoons while writing that episode?
DR: I don't understand your question. Oh. Got it. Not at all. No classic trope. I used my own experience as a child when I ran away. I remember how I felt and why I left and used that to create the story.
DL: wow! but do you know the classic running away episode?
DR: I didn’t think about it, no. Again, I did then and do now, create stories based on my experiences or the experiences of others.
DL: throw mummy from the train. the process was?
DR: Just a play on the current movie of the time: Throw Mama from the Train.
DL: was that one with danny devito?
DR: We often looked at the trend of movies - old and new - and idea riffed off them. Yes, Danny Devito
DL: well most of your episode titles are puns of movies or phrases. why was that?
DR: I did one called Gadget Goes Hawaiian based on the sixties film Gidget Goes Hawaiian. I started surfing cuz I loved that movie as a kid. We knew we also had an adult audience so we played with our titles. Used stuffed they were keen on. Fyi: the actress who played Gidget also voiced a role in that one; She played a Gadget lookalike.
DL: Wow! Wait you got sally field? And also, how was it writing for female characters, since you're a female writer. Like how do you write for characters like gadget?
DR: No it was Deborah Walley.
DL: oh new gidget. the 80s one.
DR: I had to push for more female characters. Sally was tv Gidget. Deborah was film Gidget in Gidget Goes Hawaiian.
DL: was she in the 80s reboot?
DR: No.
DL: oh,wait. i'm so confused!
DR: Writing for female characters then was very different. Still had to battle stereotypes . I would write them very different now. Female characters were still stereotyped. I regret that I did not push harder .
DL: was that in your scripts were the female characters stereotyped?
DR: Not in RR but in Darkwing Duck. I created Morgana for DD. She was very stereotypical and I really regret that. But at the time, I was considered pushing the envelop. I would write her very different now.
DL: well i forgot, winnie the pooh for disney and the ABC network? your first writing credit.
DR: Yes. At Disney. I'd written for PBS before that and was nominated for an Emmy twice.
DL: and that was clifford the big red dog?
DR: No that came much later. My Emmy nominated shows were live action.
DL: oh what was the program before winnie the pooh?
DR: Those shows were adapted from my touring stage shows. Winnie the Pooh was my first Disney show. I really knew nothing about animation then and had to learn fast.
DL: how was it writing for animation for the first time?
DR: It was pretty great because there are really no limitations to what you can create. I went crazy with the freedom. My experience had only been with real actors...
DL: well was it hard writing for cartoons?
DR: Yes, absolutely . As much as I loved the freedom and whimsy, I missed real actors and deeper stories. The stuff I write now couldn't be more different!
DL: well which medium do you consider the easy to write.
DR: But writing for animation really made me a better writer. In animation, you really have to spell out the world and direct the action. It was great training. Animation by far. Live action calls for very different skills.
DL: and you're not a great artist right? so you cant draw for cartoons.
DR: I'm a terrible artist, so I paint with words.
DL: yeah, but you tell the animators what to draw right?
DR: Yes! And sometimes they got angry with me because I directed the action so much. But I was instructed too! Some artists did not like that.
DL: well you gotta loosen up. the storyboarder wants to feel in control.
DR: They wanted to do their own staging. It was a matter of time. We were instructed to really storyboard with our words. If the artist didnt like it they could change it. But often, they were in time crunches and so a writer's suggestions were good to work off of. I became best friends with a storyboarder who was very offended that I wrote out so much action. But as we got busier and busier, he understood. My stuff was just something he could work off if he wanted. But I was really good at action and comedy so my stuff was used a lot. My theater background helped there.
DL: so for winnie the pooh, the episode donkey for a day.
DR: Yes
DL: so process for that episode?
DR: That was very early before I was staff I believe. I pitched the story to Mark Zaslove as a freelancer. He took it and handed it over to staff writers. I was inspired by looking at drawings of Eeyore staring at the sky. I just wondered if he was sad or lonely and that was the start. It came from people often misinterpreting what others are feeling.
DR: So you wrote the premise, but you gave it to Mark for the script. So it was story by dev ross, teleplay by mark zaslove.
DL: No sorry, I was staff then. No. I had the idea and Mark added to it but then gave it to more senior writers.
DR: Well the episode, there's no camp like home? What's the process for that. That was the classic "camping episode". if you know what i mean.
DR: It came from my love of camping and telling scary stories around a campfire. I also loved the Heffalumps so wanted to tell a story with them! As there was never any true villains in Pooh we used children's fears and dreams... I went camping as a young girl and mistook a knarled tree as a monster so I used that as inspiration.
DL: Nice
DR: Exactly. I want my stuff to be rooted in real emotions.
DL: cleanliness is next to impossible, process for that episode.
DR: Ah yes! Boy did I get letters from parents about that! They said it was too scary! It was right out of my childhood and Crud was the creature who lived under my bed! I also had a over active imagination and thought that whatever I drew could come alive. Also, my babies liked to draw on the wall with crayons. So I put it all together.
Oh I have still a weakness for Fairy Tail and Naruto, used to watch them as a kid, Soul Eater is also a good one! Oh, of course Jojo's Bizarre Adventure because the its straight up ridiculous and reminds me that I can do just whatever as long as I have fun
My favorite anime film is definitely Ghibli's Nausicaä, something about the world design and the sense of freedom I get it just mwah
Hmm I used to read manga back in the but nowadays I rarely buy any anymore, I used to by a lot of shonen though like Evangelion, Blue excorcist and Tokyo Ghoul, also have a small collection of detective conan mangas I personally prefer action that leans a bit into mystical themes and magic!
My favorite cartoons are definitely rottmnt/2012 tmnt at the moment, i'm trying to rewatch 2012 because I don't remember a lot anymore lmao
My favorite animated movie is definitely Klaus, its so beautiful and its crazy to think it's a 2D animation made by hand, its crazy also ofc the rottmnt movie is up there as well the fight scene at the end goes HARD
I'm not much a person for horror but I still love the movie Alien, you can argue if its really that much horror but I love it Ridley my 👀
Oh I don't read often web toons or Manwha but I recently started reading one called Omniscient Reader Viewpoint and it's delightful
My favorite Disney movie will always be Aladdin haha, as a kid I really loved Jasmine and thought she was so cool
Oh god my favorite disney cartoon huh, i remember as a kid I watched a ton of little mermaid but I also adored Chip 'n Dale: rescue rangers OH and how can I forget the old Duck Tales series
What about you? You always ask me these questions but never tell me what your favorite is :)
Rescue Rangers Movie Question
So...I’m just looking at the credits of the chip and dale movie to see if they mention the bootlegged toons at all, and they seem to have a section dedicated to stunt people? Now for the likes of Ellie this makes sense but they also have stunt names for the toons.
‘Stunt Jimmy’ ‘Stunt Bob’ ‘Stunt Sweet Pete’ with actually casted names. [Martin Klebba, Zach Andres and Callie Croughwell respectively] and I don’t understand why. They’re toons. Even from the out of universe perspective, why would they need a stunt man for toons? They just draw/animate them doing stuff. It makes no sense.
If anyone could explain it I’d be grateful.
