It truly warms our hearts to see small businesses and individuals in our community coming together in support of our story and our project.
Watertown restaurant Spokes Craft Beer & Tapas has generously added a specialty flatbread to their menu to benefit the production of "Cinder". Partial proceeds from the "Cinder" Flatbread order go towards our film.
This is one of many unique, fun, and incredible collaborations we are so thankful to be a part of. It is beyond humbling to see small businesses putting their faith in us and our project and it is absolutely amazing to be able to support one another in each of our endeavors.
If you are in the Watertown area, please consider going to Spokes and giving the flatbread a try.
For other filmmakers, the bounds of your film are only the limits you put on it. Get creative and collaborative with your fundraising efforts. You'd be surprised to find how you can bring your film to life!

Have you heard about the steam baby in the storyboard? He’s adorable!
Tumblr media
YOU MEAN THIS BEAN? OH YES, I’m familiar with the steam baby saga, from the initial rumors to fanart to when it was actually confirmed to have been real, what a blessed day that was
I’m torn because canon ship kids are a huge weakness of mine, but I also think it was the right choice for the film to not include that. Ember and Wade are very young and take things pretty slow, a baby at the end would have been too much too fast. But I’d be very happy if that plot thread made a reappearance in a ‘years-later’ future short or sequel or something! I’d love to also see the other grandparents’ reactions! Like Brook reminiscing with Cinder about her own first experience with grandkids 🥹

Welcome Home - Joe Quinn x Fem!Reader (18+)
Summary: Joe comes home after months away filming and he just can't seem to keep his hands to himself.
Word Count: 1049
Writers block is kicking my ass right now but this came to me after being inspired by this nsfw audio (18+ minors do not even think about it) Part 2 maybe? idk let me know what you think.
RPF please keep scrolling if it is not your thing
Tumblr media
She busied herself tidying the apartment ready for Joe’s arrival home, not that it was dirty, there was just a few bits of washing that needed hanging on the airer to dry and her breakfast pots from this morning that she had planned to do after her shower only she’d left them forgotten in the sink. She cursed herself for leaving it so late almost as much as she willed herself to hurry as he was due to be home soon and she wanted to greet him at the door when he arrived, not have him come find her while she was doing chores.
She moved as if on autopilot and she was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn’t hear the door open or Joe call her name as he entered the apartment. In fact she didn’t realise that he was even home until she felt his arms wrap around her middle while she was still in the middle of putting the wet clothes on the airer.
“You know I had hoped for more of a welcome home but I guess Cinders had more important things to do” he muses, his breath ghosting against her ear as she lets out a snort of laughter at his comparison, laughter that was soon cut off by a gasp as his lips met the skin of her neck. The top in her hands that was midway to the airer was forgotten the moment his lips brushed against her skin and it was soon on the floor as his hands left her hips in favour of running over her body instead, “God I’ve missed you so much love, I swear it was torture being away from you for so long” he hummed as her body melted against him, her head falling back against his shoulder and unintentionally giving him more access to the skin of her neck which he took full advantage of.
She couldn’t help but moan his name as his teeth nipped against the sensitive skin in the junction where her neck met her shoulder, just above her collarbone. “Missed you too” she spoke almost breathless after a few kisses and touches from him but then again it had been a long few months without his touch, so long that it felt like a lifetime ago or so she told herself to lessen the embarrassment of how easily he got her worked up. Although when she felt the hard length of his cock pressing up against her lower back she realised just how much he needed this as well.
“Yeah?” he asked, one of his hands now working it’s way down her body, ghosting over her hip until it disappeared beneath the waistband of the grey pyjama shorts she was wearing and wandered lower still until he was groaning as his hand was snug between her legs, pressing firmly over her panties and feeling the wetness that was now soaking them. “God you’re soaked, I bet you’re so turned on that you can come from just a finger pressing against that sweet neglected clit of yours” he chuckled lowly as his hand moved to slip under her panties, running his fingers through her folds and getting them wet until he did just as he’d promised.
A broken moan escaped her as his middle finger pressed against her clit and he slowly increased the pressure on it causing a jolt of pleasure to shoot through her body as her hips ground into his touch and because he still had her body pressed against him it caused her ass to rub against the tent in his pants. “Fuck baby, that’s it grind against me, make yourself cum for me” he moaned encouragingly as his lips began their assault on her neck again, sucking and nibbling hard enough that she was sure he was going to leave marks that she would have to cover up in the following days.
Not that that was high on her priority list in the moment, not when his free hand slid under her shirt and began toying with her nipples, pinching and pulling at the hardened buds which only made her arch her back in an attempt to push her chest further into his hands as she chased her high that was approaching quicker than she’d have expected. A chant of his name was all that left her lips in a vague warning just as she tipped over the edge and the pleasure washed over her, “That’s it good girl” he praised as her body tensed and her legs shook and he took over beginning to rub small, fast circles over her clit as he worked her through her orgasm only stopping when she was whining from overstimulation and pushing his hands away.
“You did so good for me baby” he cooed, retracting his hand from her shorts, sucking the remnants of her cum from his hand before wiping his hand on his shirt. Lifting her head from where it had stayed in the crook of his neck she turned her head so that she could kiss him and he welcomed her lips happily, revelling in the slow languidness of it as she recovered from the fuzziness still clouding her brain.
When she pulled away she turned on still shaky legs, moving to drop to her knees in front of him but his hands gripped her forearms keeping her upright as she tried to protest but he just shook his head, “I need a shower and you, Cinders, need to finish up here” he teased, letting go of her arms when she stopped trying to fight him instead she settled for jutting out her bottom lip and looking at him with the best puppy dog eyes she could muster in hopes of getting him to change his mind. Instead all it seemed to do was make him laugh, “after that though love, I’m all yours and you can have me however you want” he promised with a smile as he leaned forward to press a soft kiss to her forehead, making her smile as she allowed him to go. She turned and picked back up where she left off, her mind racing with all the ways she could give him the welcome home he deserved.

hey! when it comes to the adaptation what are you looking for? i very much am fearful for it so i was wondering like. what your ideal movie would be.
Part of me wants a live action just so i could make little fancasts but in reality an animated movie will get the storyline best. there really are some gorgeous animation styles and we end up with like, elemental vibes or some shit i’ll be distraught
I am terrified of the adaptation. I just know in my heart they'll mess something up.
I'd like live action in the sense that people tend to treat animated movies as 'films for kids', and TLC is not. But since it is animated, I want exceptional animation. Into the Spiderverse level. No babyfying these characters, no censoring the storyline for child appeal. TLC has some heavy themes that are integral to it.
One thing I want is for the characters to be depicted accurately. A lot of adaptations nowadays are race-bending characters, and while that isn't inherently wrong, TLC is already diverse! It doesn't need race-bending for diversity points. I also want them to depict the characters accurately in terms of body: Cinder being lean and boyish, Scarlet being buxom, and please, please do not make Kai inexplicably ripped. Why would he have abs. Please make him the noodle that he is.
I want the movies to be accurate to the original books, and at the same time, I'm not opposed to changes if they improve the story. There's definitely some scenes in Winter that require heavy pacing edits, and I think that could be done well in the movies. You could change some of the character's ages. Deepen the lore. For example, the Eastern Commonwealth is described as this wide homogenous Asia without noting how vast Asia actually is. Why is a dude with a Japanese name ruling from China? Well, explain it. Maybe say Kai's dynasty is Japanese but they chose to be based out of Beijing to quell uprising there. Say the outer provinces of the Commonwealth wanted to be independent nations. Then when Kai is thrust into ruling at a young age, that increases the pressure, as he faces the threat of Levana and his country cracking from underneath him.
Finally, do I prefer it as movies or a show? If they made each book its own 20 episode season they would have to add extraneous plot. Cinder and Scarlet are too short to fill out an entire season each. It would be great if they did it the episode count based on the length of the books: Cinder and Scarlet as 4 episodes each, Cress as maybe 5, and Winter as probably 6.
However I think if they improved the flow of Winter, each book could fit into a movie length, maybe Winter as a two-parter. I want the joy of watching this at the cinema, which won't happen with shows, so movies it is!

A smattering of general updates:
I played Tears of the Kingdom. I didn't really enjoy it. I understand why it was popular though; I'm just not the demographic for these types of video games anymore. I didn't find it creatively rewarding and after a time I sat there thinking 'I would rather be writing right now', and since then I have learnt that writing is made easier by doing things which are not writing, because it makes me miss it. My dad also doesn't really like it but for some reason has played hundreds of hours in it. I don't know either - I think he will take anything called Zelda at this point.
I spectated the Doctor Who David Tennant Special and watched some clips of the new season. I'm not a fan of RTD, and not a DW fan anymore (not for a long time), but it was an interesting study in how studios try to attract old and new fans.
I read a lot of books, and that lie people tell you about all books being good for you is a lie, because a cyberpunk anthology of short stories made me so angry I got heartburn. I think people who say that are saying so because they wish that they could read a lot, in which case I say, yes I think reading is a gift and we should engage with it, however, sometimes I get so physically angry from something stupid/bad I've read because bad writers exist that it gives me actual pain. I am reading Howl's Moving Castle right now and it's very joyful; I am very surprised by the liberties the animated film took! However so far I do think both experiences are worthwhile, and if you enjoyed the Ghibli film, I very much recommend checking out the original book if you want to revisit that world again. The prose is straightforward but a little whimsical, and Howl is very, very funny. I have laughed aloud a few times.
Well, you know I rewatched Dark, and it's funny that during my exile I said 'this is like if RWBY got the ending it deserves' and then, er, I found out it's not renewed yet, and that's still up in the air, which for the entirety of RWBY I have only had one true moment of doubt of such a thing, and that was a while ago.
On that topic, yes, I still ship Jaune/Cinder, believe Cinder's redemption is likely, etc., although there are some more external concerns I would wager now than before. Before I thought it very possible to do without any commercial influence, and it depends what compromises they do or don't end up making or having already made. My analysis of Jaune's arc in V9 may not hold water as much (e.g. if you lean towards the view there were rewrites to cater to growing the audience, or perhaps it's two ideas married? I'm not sure) so I'm going to think about it more, and there always has been a tension in RWBY between what is being expected/baited and what is foreshadowed/said/actually happens.
I figured out how to write again and what was blocking me, so there's that. To talk about it a bit more, since my break I have worked every single day on writing. My key takeaways are that you need a delicate balance of delusion and self-doubt to get anything done - you don't know you can do something until you actually do it - and every excuse I invented for not writing was not the reason I was not writing. I can write with a migraine beginning to set in on an uncomfortable desk where I can't even rest my elbows properly on the end of a bed with no back support without aircon in the middle of summer before I've even taken my hair out from bedtime plaits in my pyjamas. I didn't even expect to get my fic done right before midnight, actually I was like 'well lol that's not going to happen, I'll write anyway though, fuck New Year's' because I wasn't doing anything, and then I finished and looked at the time and was like ooooh. I actually completed my goal! So I'm very proud of that. Anyway writing is breathing, to me, I go crazy if I don't do it, no matter what it is, and every single piece of nonsense advice of productivity was not helpful, ever, but I did figure it out. Also admittedly I got a fire burning under me again because I found out I was actually right about Raven, in which case I took that as a sign from heaven I was on the right track. One should hope.
I am excited about Dune Part Two, yes, although I am trying to avoid Villeneuve talking about the film because I know all the marketing is basically directed at people who aren't Dune fans, and I have to see it for myself to see what it's worth. I enjoyed the first film, and Villeneuve seems excited to direct Dune Messiah, in which case I am willing to do whatever possible to make that happen. Because that's about as complete a story you're going to get in a major motion picture adaptation and it would be So Fucking Good.

a conversation just now with @mrsgeorgeluz has reminded me to share with you these treats obtained from a two-day trip to aldbourne up in marlborough, wiltshire with @liebgottsjumpwings that we went on in march this year, so without further ado, here's our 2023 band of brothers aldbourne excursion report!
we started by taking a train up to oxford from london, drove further out to marlborough from park end station and followed this aerial photograph:
Tumblr media
and this illustrated map, courtesy of the royal army service corps (as found from the aldbourne heritage center) and which, if our sources are correct, may have been drawn by pat christenson:
Tumblr media
to the site where easy company set up their barracks back in 1943. our navigational abilities have, to our surprise, proven reliable. aldbourne is a very small village so the site wasn't far from the square, but it was a mildly frustrating walk interspersed with rain and beset by slippery gravel slopes BUT hi-ho silver bitches 😌
Tumblr media
this is where the enlisted men and ncos lived in huts made of wood and brick and cinder blocks, constructed as part of a temporary encampment. these were described as "wood and quonset-type buildings with a potbelly stove in each and toilets outside" by don malarkey and tbh nobody loved them because the outdoor toilets apparently made everything smell like shit. the site was difficult to find at first and we used the shape of nearby roads and other infrastructure to roughly estimate its position but we found it and discovered that it is presently a football field.
unfortunately the rain picked up almost immediately when we got there and we did not bring adequate footwear, so we could not actually go onto the field and manually identify where each individual hut and building used to stand, as we originally planned to do. so we walked around the perimeter. only a handful of buildings from the encampment remain as most of them were removed by the village council after the war. one of the remaining buildings is the cookhouse. the other is a red cross hut, nicknamed the "nissen hut" by archaeologists and historians, which looked like this:
Tumblr media
and which we did not have access to. at any rate i'm pretty sure it has been repurposed as a workshop.
we had lunch at the aldbourne post office and café,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
aka downstairs from the room where dick winters and harry welsh were billeted!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here's dick's upstairs window overlooking part of the village square.
all of this is also on private property and the owners, who are also the proprietors of the café. according to the owners, various members of the band of brothers cast often make trips up here and i believe we missed peter youngblood hills (shifty powers) and nicholas aaron (popeye wynn) by a month or two.
then we decided that it was time for a pint. our first stop was the crown where unfortunately we did not take any photos, but it was the go-to pub for enlisted men. a short walk away is the blue boar aka the officers' club.
Tumblr media
our last stop before we left had us going up to st. michael's church at the other end of the village green to pay our respects to the veterans buried there. we sat at the bench at the hilltop overlooking the village from across the cemetery. apparently this was dick winters's favourite spot to visit if he wanted some peace and quiet, and he wrote about it in his memoirs:
Tumblr media
we were also invited to participate in the annual aldbourne excavation project by breaking ground heritage where archaeologists come by the former barracks site (aforementioned present-day football field) and dig for material culture. as the excavation took place in may and clashed with jules's thesis and my final exams, we were sadly unable to attend, but we did leave our contact details for next year's dig.
the aldbourne scenes in the hbo miniseries, by the way, weren't actually filmed in aldbourne. they were filmed in hambleden, buckinghamshire, which we might visit next year on our way back to london.
unlike the easy men, unfortunately we did not go on to invade fortress europa after leaving wiltshire. here we are:
Tumblr media
:)
if you're thinking of making a trip to aldbourne yourself and want to know 1.) how to go about it without joining a tour group, 2.) what's the best way to get there or 3.) how to participate in the 2024 archaeological excavation project (where you'll definitely be seeing me), do not hesitate to get in touch with us. we may be a couple of silly geese but we're excited to share anything we know with you.

Maybe it’s just because there’s only so many ways to draw a type of thing, but I have seven thoughts about Elemental (2023) after watching it again lol.
1. It showcases a lovely balanced relationship between artists. Ember, of course, has an eye and hand for glass making, and Wade sees the potential and ability she has; how her light shines through to the world and him, figuratively and literally. Meanwhile, Wade’s way with words is more subtle, but really reaches in deep and converts visual art into emotion; it takes a good writer and speaker to convey feeling into accessible ideas. And Ember recognizes his talent, and lets it touch her.
They bring light into each other’s lives; without each other, they were fine and functioning and almost happy, but when they have the other, that’s just the icing on the cake.
2. The art style looks worse without motion. Both characters are constantly unconsciously moving in every shot; Ember flickers and Wade drips. Plus, the way light works with them and around them doesn’t translate well to a still image (especially with Ember; it’s hard to draw without outline, and I think it helped with visibility and stability on the screen, but in stills it looks awkward.).
A lot of fan art I’m seeing seems to struggle with this outline/still problem, again more with Ember than with Wade, but a lot of artists have added their own spin and style and made it work. I think the problem is directly related to how it’s difficult to capture water, fire and light ‘sources’ like the moon via photo. So if the art style for that particular aspect is turning you off, and you’ve only seen stills, I’d suggest you watch a bit of video or a good gif set (there’s already quite a few) before deciding whether it’s worth watching or not.
3. Speaking of art, this movie really reminded me of Studio Ghibli movies. Maybe there’s only so many ways to draw something, or maybe it’s just the Howl’s Moving Castle (both book and film) and Ponyo fan in me, but Ember for sure took a lot of visual inspiration from Calcifer, it’s the red outline and such, and Wade the waves from Ponyo. It was fun to see! Also tbh I saw some Dr. Seuss CGI movie shapes in their bodies.
4. Ember and Burnie breaking the cycle. When Burnie left Fire Land for Element City, he was following his dreams (and he even started enough of a trend that his whole neighborhood because a new fire town). But his Sad disagreed with him. As a last attempt at connection, Burnie bowed a Bok Sa (sp?), a very deep bow, to his father, to show respect and love. His Dad did not return the gesture, spurning his son and his dreams, and turned away.
When Ember leaves for the glassblowing internship, she performed a Bok Sa for her Dad (and it’s so intimate guys. Like it’s almost embarrassing to look at because it’s raw and passionate and I really admire the creators for Not restraining it). Burnie sees a chance to show his daughter that he loves her, and that he respects her dreams (despite his and Cinder’s sacrifice of emigration from Fire Land, which is a big theme in this movie), and so he holds back the hurt his father laid upon him, so many years ago. He does a Bok S- back. It’s wonderful. I’m not sure he would’ve done that at the beginning of the movie, but his love for his daughter won out in the end.
(I just wish that the mother-daughter relationship received a little more canon consideration as well, but I appreciate the movie for the relations it did focus on.)
5. The city fucks up in a big way, and of course it’s up to the people affected to solve it, at least in the short term. Despite water being a huge hazard and supposedly already gotten rid of in fire town, there’s still a water train that passes regularly and always displaces enough water to kill a fire person. And in terms of the dam, there’s so much bureaucracy that Gale (the city safety officer?) found it easier to (nearly) shut down a business than to get a health hazard (the broken dam) fixed.
And when Ember covers up the hole, she leaves it! Her tempered glass doesn’t get support, and it eventually cracks and floods Fire Town, nearly killing lots of residents and leading to Wade’s evaporation.
6. Feel free to add on but I’m surprised that no globe has really talked about the disability angle yet. I i afraid I don’t have enough experience being physically disabled to talk about it in a nuanced enough way but oh well. It’s there. The way the fire people needed different transportation (also there was a fire person in a wheelchair. How things that are safe for others could kill them (Cinder nearly died while carrying ember because a guy dripped on her, which is a thing that others would find mildly inconvenient). How Wade’s nephew casually mentioned that Ember could die if she stepped off her mobility aid (the floatie) and proceeded to mess with it. And of course the shame, embarrassment and fear of being excluded & discriminated against.
7. More Men Should Cry!!! It literally saved Wade’s life lmao.

Short Story Tournament
KALEIDOSCOPE by Ray Bradbury (1949) (link) - tw: death, existential dread
When life is over it is like a flicker of bright film, an instant on the screen, all of its prejudices and passions condensed and illumined for an instant on space, and before you could cry out. There was a happy day, there a bad one, there an evil face, there a good one, the film burned to a cinder, the screen was dark.
THERE WILL COME SOFT RAINS by Ray Bradbury (1950) (link) - tw: death
Eight-one, tick-tock, eight-one o'clock, off to school, off to work, run, run, eight-one! But no doors slammed, no carpets took the soft tread of rubber heels. It was raining outside. The weather box on the front door sang quietly: "Rain, rain, go away; umbrellas, raincoats for today. .." And the rain tapped on the empty house, echoing.

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." - Leonardo da Vinci
Congratulations! You’re in a college-level, advanced film course and asked to create a film from start to finish, complete with script, storyboards and shooting schedule.
Furthermore, you have to complete it in three months. To you, a seasoned film student who has already been through beginner-level film classes, this sounds simple, right? Well, I’ve seen it many times before…you over-complicate the story by filling it with multiple characters. Before you know it, the three-month time frame is up and you have nothing to show for it except maybe a few scenes that, if edited together, would make for an incoherent mess.
Tumblr media
How did this happen? Because the story you envisioned was probably influenced by a Hollywood production you found enthralling and awe-inspiring. You tried to emulate it, but as time evaporated, it felt like you were treading water with a cinder block tied to your ankles. In the end, what it came down to was that all your actors had conflicting schedules. The result: no film and an incomplete grade.
So, how do you complete a film in such a short time frame? Here’s a tip that might help.
Base your story around one character who goes through a dramatic change in his or her life. If you develop a story around multiple characters, you will find that not everyone is available the same day or time as everyone else. After all, it’s not like you’re paying your actors to be there. At best, you’re offering them a free lunch or the promise of a cast party once the film wraps, which is not much of an incentive to get friends to skip work or miss class.
So if you can write your script around one character, you’ll be better off. If you need more characters in your film, make them peripheral, interacting with your main character one at time, in one scene at a time. This way they can enter stage right, perform their lines, and exit stage left. You’ll find this much easier than shooting Reservoir Dogs-style scenes where anywhere from four to eight characters are in almost every shot.
Tumblr media
In my film “Chump Change,” my friend, Dan Rankin and I developed a story around one character who overcomes the odds when he gambles away a crime boss’ money. Every scene in the film either had the main character alone or interacting with one other character. That’s it! This made shooting very convenient and efficient. One day, one scene.
The film had roughly nine scenes  and if I was able to shoot them consecutively, I could have shot the film in only nine days! Of course, that’s not reality, but just think if you could shoot your film at a pace of two scenes a week. You’d have principal photography completed in just over a month leaving you with time for editing or reshoots if needed.
Remember, Hollywood shooting schedules are usually based on six-day a week, 14-hour a day shooting schedules to minimize production costs. Everyone on set is paid well to be there on time and perform their task. As a student, you don’t have that luxury so you must be practical.
By basing your story around one character, time will not escape you and you’ll be able to concentrate more on making your scenes the most memorable they can be. Ultimately, by keeping it simple, your film will look very sophisticated.

The Cinder Cone from Farm League on Vimeo.
In the Spring of 2014 a small group of close friends broke ground on a building project in Skamania County, Washington in the Columbia River Gorge. Their primary endeavor was a multi-platform tree house, but also included a skate bowl and a wood fired soaking tub as well. The crew came from all over the country and from a variety of backgrounds. Some were professional carpenters, others learned on the job, gaining experience along the way. The Cinder Cone is Foster Huntington’s short film that documents this year-long process of building his dream home with this community of tight knit friends.

Cinderella (1950)
Cinderella is the opening film of the Silver Age, and one of the most notable films in Walt Disney history. This movie set a huge precedent and is still exceptionally popular in the minds of young and old alike today. It has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 97%.
Cinderella is a fantastic movie that pulls Disney out of one of its darkest times in animation history and makes a profound comeback. It has set a multitude of precedents, some positive and others not, and has remained a staple in United States media since its release in 1950. It has a good plot and consistent theming as well, featuring a mostly interesting cast of characters. Unfortunately I can not attest to the prince’s personality, which is predominantly nonexistent. Beyond that, the movie is well-crafted and well-executed. I should elaborate upon two specific precedents this movie sets that are rather concerning although completely unintentional and not problematic if contained in this film alone (which they unfortunately are not). The lesser of the two, although still bothersome, is the premise that cats are inherently harmful and malicious. Lucifer, a cat literally named after the devil, is a sadistic, cruel, and overall terrible character. It is continuously implied that all cats are like this, not just him, although he seems to be an exaggeration of this characterization. The second problematic precedent set by Cinderella, which is both more impactful and harmful, is that of women as submissive “damsels in distress.” In Cinderella, Cinderella is submissive to most of the characters in the movie and in order to escape she has to be saved by a man. It should be noted that in her film she essentially gets herself out of a bad scenario, continuously advocates for herself, and works hard to achieve her own happiness. Her intention of going to the ball is not to be saved by the prince, but to have a singular night of freedom. Rather, this trope is not at the fault of the actual story of Cinderella, but the poor interpretations of the audience. However, the narrative persists nevertheless.
In conclusion, Cinderella is a great opening into this next era of Disney animation. Overall, Cinderella receives 10 out of 10 stars from me, a perfect score! It initially lost a point for Prince Charming’s nonexistent personality, but easily regained a point back with its wonderful music. It also passes the Bechdel Test.
Summary of the film under the cut.
Cinderella opens like a storybook, introducing the protagonist as a young girl with a widowed father. Her father, with the intention of giving her a loving mother and expanding their family, married Lady Tremaine, a wealthy woman with two daughters, Drizella and Anastasia. However, after a short while Cinderella’s father died, leaving her alone with the rest of her family. Her stepmother began to abuse her, and eventually after years of disrepair and poor spending at the hands of Drizella and Anastasia, Lady Tremaine forced Cinderella to become the family’s servant. Flashing forward to the present day of the story, Cinderella is living in a tower on the side of the family’s manor. She is awoken by birds and mice, her closest friends. She tells them of the dream she was having, her dream of leaving her abusive household for something better. One of her mouse friends, Jaq, informs Cinderella about a new mouse in the house that is stuck in one of the traps. Cinderella rescues and clothes the mouse, named Gus Gus. Jaq then spends an extended period of time explaining to Gus Gus all of the workings of the household, but predominantly the presence of Lucifer, the cat. Lucifer is exceptionally sadistic and has not notably killed any of the mice, but has a reputation for torturing them. Cinderella begins her daily chores, which include feeding Lucifer, the chickens, and the rest of the farmyard animals. She also feeds the mice, but they cannot obtain food until Jaq distracts Lucifer, who is lying in wait. Afterwards, Cinderella goes inside the house and upstairs to her stepsisters’ and stepmother’s room. There the three of them give her a variety of additional chores such as doing the laundry and mending their clothes. Anastasia finds Gus Gus, who was previously hiding under a teacup from Lucifer, on her breakfast tray. Absolutely appalled, she blames Cinderella for this. Cinderella is called into Lady Tremaine’s bedroom, where she is given her punishment. Since she “has enough time for pranks, she has enough time for extra chores.” The story pans over to the king, who is having a complicated conversation with the duke about the loneliness of his castle and his fraught relationship with his son. He wants to have grandchildren to improve his life, so he is creating a ball commemorating his son’s return to the kingdom in the hopes of finding him a wife. Back at the Tremaine manor, Lady Tremaine is instructing Drizella to sing while Anastasia plays the flute. They are both very bad at this, which is obvious considering Lucifer’s negative response. Meanwhile, Cinderella is singing the same song beautifully as she cleans the base of the stairs. While she is cleaning a letter is delivered on behalf of the prince. Cinderella immediately delivers it to her stepmother and stepsisters upstairs, who are thrilled to be invited to the upcoming ball. Cinderella notes to Lady Tremaine that all available maidens are required to attend, therefore she has to go as well. Lady Tremaine makes a deal with her, agreeing that she may attend. Cinderella continues to work hard into the evening. Meanwhile, her animal friends are working on her dress so that she can attend the ball in style. Jaq and Gus Gus sneak into the room in which Drizella and Anastasia were previously dressing and get past Lucifer, managing to take a beaded necklace and a sash, both of which were thrown away by the stepsisters. The mice and birds manage to complete the dress. At first Cinderella does not know this, and tells Lady Tremaine that she cannot go, which pleases her stepmother. However, after discovering the dress in her room, she runs down the stairs in a hurry and makes it in time to leave. Lady Tremaine points out the beads to Drizella and Anastasia, emphasizing how beautiful they are. This act is not out of love or appreciation, rather drawing attention to the stolen accessories. Drizella and Anastasia immediately rip apart Cinerella’s dress, leaving her in rags. Not being able to attend the ball in this state, her stepmother and stepsisters leave her behind, while she runs out the back door to cry in the garden. Suddenly, glimmers of light surround her, but she does not notice. Her Fairy Godmother appears, a magical woman who believes in Cinderella’s dream to escape her abusive household. She blesses her with the magic of her wand, singing the infamous song “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” and proceeding to turn a pumpkin and Cinderella’s animal friends into a functioning horse-drawn carriage. Cinderella then has her dress not only restored but drastically improved. She goes to the ball as initially planned. Meanwhile, at the ball the prince remains uninterested towards every princess he is introduced to. The king is panicking, but Cinderella walks in the background just as her stepsisters get introduced, and immediately catches the prince’s attention. The king notices this and encourages the orchestra to play a waltz while the lights are dimmed, setting his son up for a romantic evening. Prince Charming and Cinderella dance into the night, and at the end of the night they kiss. Cinderella then realizes it is midnight, which is when the spell granting her the dress and coach will disappear, so she panics and leaves the castle. Prince Charming and the duke try to stop her, but they are unsuccessful. She gets away and resumes her life. The prince is not done trying to connect with her though and uses the glass slipper she left behind as a means to find her. He has the duke put every woman in the kingdom try on the shoe. When he arrives at Cinderella’s home, Lady Tremaine locks Cinderella in her tower bedroom. Drizella and Anastasia desperately try to put on the shoe, forcing it onto their feet. At the same time, Jaq and Gus Gus are trying to get the key out of Lady Tremaine’s pocket. They eventually succeed, but are pursued by Lucifer, who traps Gus Gus underneath a tea cup. The birds manage to summon Bruno, the family dog, who chases Lucifer out a window. Despite not being seen for the rest of the film, it is assumed Lucifer lives because “cats always land on their feet.” They get the key to Cinderella who manages to get down the stairs right when the duke is about to leave. They start to bring Cinderella the glass slipper, but Lady Tremaine trips the man carrying it, and it shatters. However, she has the other one. Cinderella is proven to be the woman Prince Charming is looking for, and the two of them get married. They live happily ever after.

RWBY Volume 9 Spoiler-Filled Review [part 2]
Continued from part 1
youtube
Blake and Yang are not alone. There are various indications what Weiss may have a crush on Juane, in a ship known as Whiteknight, with Weiss laughing when Juane is surprised by his own voice in the final episode. In addition, some fans saw hints of romantic themes between Weiss and Rose, known as White Rose. Others claimed there was confirmation that Nuts and Dolts, the ship name of Penny Poledina and Ruby, is canon. As the Blacksmith/Tree (voiced by Kimlinh Tran) says in the final episode, real balance comes from love and patience to see things through. That is the case for any of these ships.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs and Wayback Machine. This was the thirty-first article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on April 26, 2023.
As it turns out, not only is Zech openly bisexual, as noted earlier, as mentioned at various conventions over the years, but so is Lindsay Jones, who voices Ruby, as she stated in July 2018. Additionally, Tran, who is of Vietnamese descent, identifies as non-binary, asexual, and as a demigirl. Otherwise, it was a bit funny to witness those on social media shipping Summer Rose (mother of Ruby) and Raven Brawnwen (mother of Yang), known as Rosebird, after a scene of them together in the final episode. Some even believed that both characters were in a romantic relationship at some point.
All in all, the story of RWBY Volume 9 could have been significantly improved if the volume had at least four more episodes, the length of Volume 8. Even so, the average run-time of the episodes was only slightly less than those in the previous volume. Possibly due to budgeting, many of the episodes seemed relatively short. Even worse, they have no subtitles because Crunchyroll incorrectly described them as "dubbed". Hopefully the latter is fixed soon and subtitles are added. On the other hand, the show's music remained strong thanks to the talents of vocalist and songwriter Casey Lee Williams, and others such as Martin Gonzalez.
Williams' music, and that of others, meshes well with the show's emphasis on horror. This includes terrifying creatures, actions of Neo, or the antics of the Curious Cat, when he turns on them, takes over Neo for its own ends, and is murdered in the final episode.
There are many possible avenues for RWBY Volume 10, which seems somewhat confirmed. If the volume does come to pass, there will be the return of those who never used the pathways to Vacuo, or fell into the Ever After. This includes Winter, Ren, Oscar, Salem, Cinder, Qrow, Robin, and some of the Ace Ops. As such, there will undoubtedly be reunions between the characters the volume, which may be the final volume of RWBY as a whole.
Although RWBY is not perfect, and could be improved, including with the addition of more Black and Brown characters, it stands out as a strong series for young adults. It comes at a time that many series, especially those produced and aired on Disney channels, are produced to entertain children. Hopefully, other mature animations such as Arcane, Invincible, Helluva Boss, and Hazbin Hotel, to name four prominent series, fill the void left after the end of RWBY's ninth volume.
The series will not be in a hiatus as Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen, Part 1 will be available on various platforms after April 25th. It will be followed by a second part this summer. I look forward to watching both films and highly recommend RWBY for the reasons mentioned in this review.
The ninth volume of RWBY is streaming on Crunchyroll, while previous seasons are on Rooster Teeth and Crunchyroll, and are available for purchase or rent on YouTube Movies.

Pornstar AU
The main subjects I'll use, but not limited to, for this AU is RWBY and My Hero Academia. Basically all the characters are of the subject in particular are part of a specific adult film companies.
RWBY
There are three companies in the porn industry, the #1 company being Beacon Hub, employing pornstars such as Ruby Rose and is ran by veteran pornstar, Glynda Goodwitch.
Beacon Hub also has a jointed company as well called Grimm Hub for the more hardcore videos that is ran by ex-pornstar, Salem, and employs pornstars such as Cinder Fall, nicknamed Queen BDSM, and Roman Torchwick, partner of Neopolitan. What sets Grimm Hub apart is it has the use of Grimm in their videos occasionally.
The 3rd company is called White Bang. They employ mostly Faunus and ex-White Fang members such as Blake Belladonna.
My Hero Academia
There is two major porn companies in this AU, The Quirk Related Porn Agency or QRPA for short and The League of Lust or LOL. QRPA employs such pornstars such as Mina Ashido or Mirko, also known as The Rabbit Star. The LOL employ pornstars such as Toga Himko.
