Hi, Claudia! How are you? How is life? It's been a while, I wanted to make sure you're ok <3
Hello lovely anon!
I'm not even sure how long ago I got this ask, and I'm so sorry for taking eons to respond, but I'm doing well now! I've had an insane year during which I moved cities and houses, fell quite sick and lost a lot of my inspiration to write.
But I'm (hopefully) back now and ready to dive back into this lovely fandom and celebrate Jily again ❤️
I also just want to thank everyone who's left reviews, kudos and messages during the time I was away. It's always always meant a lot to see that people still care about my stories despite my absence.

What if desmond was reborn as the 5th auditore child? Like he was just a baby/toddler when the auditore were executed
Hey, nonny.
We can make Desmond be born on March 13, 1476 so he would only be months old when the Auditores are executed.
Wanna fuck with Desmond and the Auditores some more?
What if we keep Maria’s mental state after the execution and make her believe that the baby in her arms is Petruccio.
The only person who could remind her that she was holding and caring for her fifth child was Claudia and it was becoming harder and harder for her to keep trying to stay strong when her mother treating Desmond as Petruccio makes her think that she’s in the past and asking when her husband would be back or if Federico and Ezio be back from playing outside.
The final nail in the coffin is that Maria mistook Claudia as someone else, maybe an older sister that was already dead or even her old nanny who died when Petruccio was just born.
Ezio saw what was happening and pushed Claudia to managing Monteriggioni to keep her from spiraling.
It becomes apparent that Maria sees Giovanni in Ezio and Mario tells him that it might be better if they slowly separate Maria from Desmond.
It’s not doing either of them any good and making Desmond replace Petruccio was a fate that no child should ever shoulder.
So Ezio pretends to be Giovanni taking Petruccio for walks and tries to be there for his younger brother.
But being an Assassin made it hard for him to return home frequently.
He tries his best and he knows Claudia also tries to make their younger brother understand that they don’t see him as a replacement and that their mother is simply… confused at the moment.
That’s how Desmond grew up, pretending to be Petruccio when he’s with Maria Auditore.
Mario trained him while Ezio was running around but he couldn’t leave Monteriggioni because Maria starts to ask where Petruccio is whenever she doesn’t see Desmond for a few hours.
Ezio went to Firenze after journeying to Spain (and got entangled with Bonfire of the Vanities) when Maria finally realized that Desmond isn’t Petruccio. To be more exact, Desmond had turned 21 and Maria cried as she remembered that Petruccio would have never grown as old as Desmond.
At that point, Maria’s relationship with her youngest child was strained by her own guilt and grief while Desmond just accepted it because he loved Maria and a part of him believed that he should have done something more (even if he was still a baby, guilt does not care about one’s age)
Desmond starts doing Assassin work as well but goes rogue for a few months, returning with the remaining seals for Altaïr’s statue.
Desmond takes the armor for himself and just shrugged it off as Ezio’s birthday present or something equally unimportant and Ezio returned to Monteriggioni with… well…
A very awkward family reunion, that’s for sure.
So many things have happened at that point and, as much as he is happy to see his mother healing, he feels guilty for not being there for Desmond who just shrugs it off and tells him “I understand.”
“I understand.”
That was the worst phrase Ezio heard.
He kept hearing it from his younger brother.
At first he was relieved that his brother understood.
Then he realized that the phrase meant more than that to Desmond.
It was a resignation to his current situation.
And Ezio wasn’t really in the best place himself.
He was still grieving the death of Cristina who died while Ezio was in Firenze for Savonarola and his men so there was also a bit of guilt there.
So Mario suggested Ezio takes Desmond to the Vatican with him as a ‘trainee’ and Ezio agreed.
He tells Desmond that he never wanted him to be an Assassin, that he hoped he was the only one who had to carry the blood that drenched the Auditores’ blade.
Desmond just stares at him and goes…
“I understand.”
And Ezio knew that he failed being a brother to his youngest in this bloody path of vengeance he had taken.

Countess Cloudia Phantomhive and Victorian Inheritance Customs
With the snippet of the Phantomhive family tree now having been shown in the anime, I decided to make a little post to hopefully answer some of the questions that might come up!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Could a 19th-century English noblewoman...
... inherit her family estate? Yes, she could.
There was no law that stipulated that someone had to bequeath their possessions (estate, wealth) to a male relative. The rich and the noble wanted to protect their possessions, of course, and created wills that ensured that their estates and wealth would not fall into just anyone's hands but remained securely within their (close) family. If there was no close male relative (or none they wished to make their inheritor), it was not uncommon for people to will their possessions to a close female relative instead.
In Jane Eyre (1847), she famously inherits her paternal uncle's entire wealth of 20,000 pounds (the book is set sometime during George III's late reign, making the last possible (full) year 1819; this would make her inheritance 2,32 million pounds nowadays (she only keeps £5,000 = £580,000)) because he chose to will it to her, overlooking, i.a., a nephew simply because he once had a terrible fight with said nephew's father (his brother-in-law/his sister's husband). In The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (1848), Helen is the heiress to her uncle's fortune, not her brother (who inherited their father's estate already). Wuthering Heights' (1847) Catherine Linton (Catherine Earnshaw's daughter) was the heir of Thrushcross Grange.
Female heiresses were not restricted to fiction though:
Tumblr media
(Women and Marriage in Nineteenth-Century England by Joan Perkin; Ch.3)
The rich and the noble had access to a private law system that was administered by the Court of Equity. This allowed noblewomen to have their own estates and incomes, albeit secured by trust funds/trustees. This system protected their inherited family wealth from their husbands even under coverture. (While single women, feme soles, could possess their own property, they would usually lose all rights to it to their husbands upon marriage because of coverture laws. The trust system prevented this.)
Marriage settlements (marriage contracts that, due to their complexity, could only be afforded by the rich) could also protect the daughters of noble and/or wealthy families as they, i.a., stipulated how much money she would receive monthly or annually (pin money), and how much money she would receive upon her husband's death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Courtship and Marriage in Victorian England by Jennifer Phegley; Ch. 1)
This was the best case scenario for women of the upper classes (and the wealthy middle class).
Tumblr media
(Feminism, Marriage, and the Law in Victorian England by Mary Lyndon Shanley; Ch. 1)
Nevertheless, the rich knew how to protect their wealth, then as now. The aforementioned private laws also helped to pave the way for women of all social classes and statuses to have their own possessions.
Little excursus:
Their vast fortunes also granted certain freedoms to rich heiresses, i.a., the freedom to choose a husband as they pleased. After all, they did not have to think about "making a good match" anymore. They were themselves filthy rich already after all! The fact that their wealth was protected also kept them safer from vultures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Women and Marriage in Nineteenth-Century England by Joan Perkin; Ch.3)
"Love" emerged as a reason for marriage in the late 18th century and became more common and popular throughout the 19th.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Love as Passion: The Codification of Intimacy by Niklas Luhmann; Ch. 14)
However, that never stopped matrimony from being a serious business. No matter what, many people put a lot of care and thought into deciding who to marry. After all, divorces were an expensive hassle until 1857 (previously, one needed a costly Act of Parliament to obtain a divorce, and the process of obtaining a divorce was particularly difficult for women too: between 1827 and 1857 only three divorces that were petitioned by women were granted; the Matrimonial Causes Act of 1857 established a civil divorce court and expanded the rights of women). It was easier for rich women to choose to marry for love; still, many opted to remain cautious nonetheless.
(For example, what about the children one might have within a marriage? Upon a wedded union's dissolution, women had difficulties getting custody of their own children. The Custody of Infants Act 1839 allowed women to petition for custody of their children if they were 7 or under. It took until 1873, with the Infant Custody Act, for the age to be lifted from 7 to 16. It also removed the 1839 Act's stipulation that she would not be given custody if she had committed adultery. Before 1839, the father always got full custody. Caroline Norton believed she made a "good match," only to get stuck with an abusive husband who, i.a., beat her and did not let her access their children upon their separation for years.)
... keep her surname?/give her surname to her husband? Yes, she could.
The nobility and the rich, naturally, were very attached to their surnames. After all, it was their family marker, and they were proud of their family history, may it be because they came from a long line of nobles and/or because their ancestor created the family business that gave them their wealth.
When there was no (suitable) close male heir and a female one was chosen instead, the question arose, "what of the family name?" Women often took their husbands' surname upon marriage after all; in this case, however, it might mean the "end" of their old, history-charged and/or important family name.
So, people simply decreed in their wills that, whoever their heiress married, would have to take her surname upon marriage.
Further, men who wanted to marry rich heiresses, of course, thought the wedding to be an honour and did not want to offend their powerful and wealthy in-laws. They, thus, often chose to hyphenate their surname with their wife's. (And the more important surnames you can show off, the better too!)
Tumblr media
(Women and Marriage in Nineteenth-Century England by Joan Perkin; Ch.3)
Some examples:
Charles William Stewart took his wife's surname Vane (not even hyphenated!! it fully "replaced" his) when they got married in 1819 because Frances Vane was a rich heiress and her father stipulated in his will that her future husband had to take her surname, period.
In 1811, John Ward changed his surname to Ward-Boughton-Leigh after marrying Theodosia de Malsburgh Boughton-Leigh. "Boughton" is the maiden name of Theodosia's mother, "Leigh" her father's surname. She was the only heir to the fortunes of both her parents, so all families had to be honoured.
The marquessate of Salisbury belongs to the Gascoyne-Cecil family. Up until 1821, the family name was just Cecil. "Gascoyne" comes from Frances Gascoyne who married James Cecil; James hyphenated his surname with hers. She brought a considerable "Liverpool fortune" into the family. The Cecils were (and are!) very powerful and they still changed their surname.
Men also retroactively changed their surnames to their wives' maiden name if she suddenly received a great inheritance. (This could lead to some fun names like "Cresswell Cresswell.")
... hold a noble title in her own right? Yes, she could.
Henrietta Godolphin was the Duchess of Marlborough in her own right (suo jure) because of an act of parliament in 1706. (Her younger brother was meant to inherit the title but he died before their father and it went to her instead.) Henrietta's eldest son William became heir apparent to her dukedom (and his father's earldom, but that would only have been a "secondary" title because dukes > earls). Unfortunately, her son predeceased her, and the title went to her nephew instead.
This was not the first or last case of a woman holding a title in her own right. The Wikipedia article on suo jure lists more such cases.
Also: Vincent and Francis are full siblings! (Yana's tweet/Ducky's translation)
No matter whether Cloudia was married to Cedric or not, Vincent and Francis would never be bastards and always legitimate children in the face of the law.
*Note: Laws on women's property rights/custody/divorce/etc. changed multiple times throughout the 19th century; their effects on women also differed amongst the different social classes. As this post is about Cloudia's (possible) situation, it mostly deals with laws and such that would have applied to her as a noblewoman (late 18th to mid-19th century/1866).
A chronology on English marriage law:

Hi there! I'm sorry if this feels super obtuse and it has been ages since I read the novels, BUT...
After this recent episode I was a little confused about what Armand had done to infuriate Louis and Daniel so much. If he simply wiped their memories so neither Louis or Daniel didn't remember everything that went down, that doesn't seem so awful, especially since what went down WAS awful. So I think I must have missed something substantial because I was distracted by my cat, or something. 😅
BTW I love your blog and all the fantastic insight you provide! I used to be ride or die with IWTV but haven't paid much attention to it in the last 15-20 years, so I'm finding it immensely helpful for getting back into the swing of things!
Hello!
So why Louis and Daniel are so angry at Armand isn't because Armand simply erased their memories. (And, to be clear, their memories weren't actually erased, but just clouded over and blocked). Armand rewrote them. Armand basically reprogrammed Daniel and Louis' minds after the OG interview, Louis' mind especially.
That was what that final scene was about, what it was demonstrating. The answer that Louis gave at the beginning of the episode, as to why Armand saved Daniel's life in 1973 was a word-for-word repeat of what Armand's own answer was at the end of the episode to that same question.
The answer wasn't something Louis truly felt wrt his own real feelings. It was something Armand put into Louis' mind to think and say about the incident after the events of it from Louis attacking Daniel on were blocked and clouded over.
As @virginiaisforvampires notes here, the way Louis speaks of Lestat in the OG interview vs the new interview is very telling wrt that reprogramming done. Yes, in the OG interview, Louis was talking down Lestat in spiteful ways, but it was all surface-level stuff. Just saying that the way Lestat spoke revealed how stupid he was and that he wasn't at all skilled when trying to play music.
That is all a far cry from the things Louis has said and spoken about in the Dubai interview about Lestat. Lestat's crimes, as they are being talked about in this second interview, are not just surface-level transgressions said to simply make Lestat angry and draw him out, as Louis was originally trying to do back in 1973. The crimes of Lestat laid out in the Dubai interview, in contrast, are very much there to justify the murder of Lestat.
Because without that justification?
Well, we see that starting when it comes to the false memory -- yes, false -- of Louis thinking Claudia couldn't burn Lestat. Louis thinking that -- that Claudia couldn't burn Lestat -- would take away Louis' guilt at having stopped Claudia from trying to burn Lestat if it was something they both couldn't do. Especially if the killing of Lestat had been justified.
But if there was no justification for killing Lestat? Then the reason Louis stopped Claudia from burning Lestat was because Louis knew that killing Lestat had been wrong. Louis knew it the night Claudia did it, which would be the real reason why he stopped her from burning him.
And because Lestat didn't burn, because he was still alive, that led to the events of the trial in Paris and what happened to Claudia there. And what is looking to be the show's version of the Merrick reveal about Claudia's true feelings wrt Louis. Which, in the book Merrick, the revelation of that is what sent Louis to try to destroy himself via sunlight exposure, as we saw him try to do back in 1973 -- which the cocaine and other drugs that were in Daniel's blood had Louis unable to either ignore anymore -- or lifted a veil that had been placed over his mind about it until then.
Do you see the cascade effect in all of this?
And look, maybe some will see what Armand has done here as not that awful, but Armand didn't do it just to try and protect Louis. That was very damn clear when he didn't relay Lestat's full "I love you" message to Louis after Louis' 1973 attempt to end his life. It's because part of Armand very much still wants to live with the illusion that he and Louis can be happy together, even after what happened in Paris and Armand's role in those events.
I've said before that Armand's flaw when it comes to love is that he will go way, way, WAY overboard to obtain or keep love. And this is all just, once again, him repeating that pattern. Armand rewrote Louis' memories of both Lestat and Claudia's actions all to try and assuage the true guilt and pain Louis has over everything that happened and Louis' own role (mostly due to his own inactions) in it all that has led to such suicidal guilt about it, but also because IMO Armand wishes to hide -- as much as he can -- his own role in everything that happened as well . . . and all of this so as to keep Louis by his side so that Louis doesn't leave him -- be it for Lestat, or even in death.
Armand isn't being altruistic in his reprogramming of Louis' mind and memories. Because really being so would have been not only telling Louis what Lestat was trying to relay to Louis back in 1973 but then probably having to let Louis go as well . . . let Louis go back to and be with Lestat, the person who Louis was trying to draw the attention of with that whole OG interview in the first place.
Honestly, I see the whole situation as kind of expanding on this line of Louis' in the book, as he and Armand are breaking up:
And when I came to Paris I thought you were powerful and beautiful and without regret, and I wanted that desperately. But you were a destroyer just as I was a destroyer, more ruthless and cunning even than I. You showed me the only thing that I could really hope to become, what depth of evil, what degree of coldness I would have to attain to end my pain. And I accepted that. And so that passion, that love you saw in me, was extinguished. And you see now simply a mirror of yourself.
With the rewriting/reprogramming of Louis' memories, this is very much what Armand has created with Louis in many ways -- a mirror of himself. The pieces of himself that Armand blocked and changed had Louis "knowing who he was" . . . but who that person is, isn't the real Louis. Just a reflection of the person who made those changes.
So yeah, that is where the anger is coming from. Moreso Louis than Daniel when it comes to the rewriting aspect of it all I'd say; Daniel is likely just angry that his mind was messed with in the first place. One thing you can say about Daniel is that he's brutally honest, even when it comes to his own foibles. He's the type who'd rather know all the horrible shit that happened to him, than not.
Anyway, I'm glad you like my blog and comments about the show, and I hope this answer explains some of it for you. 🙂

what are the best things you've ever read? can be books or articles or anything
Oof, so difficult to try and name stuff right now. But I think some of the best writing I've ever read has been in the jily fandom, to be very honest. Everything I've learned about writing has come from devouring fics and studying these characters written in different styles and worlds ❤️

Foreshadowing is opening the season with the tale of a child vampire whose physical otherness causes it to be rejected by its kin, before being killed when they deem it unable to live independently, and how their parent, who is as culpable for their fate as they are grief stricken by it, decides to follow them into death.

Hey hey aurelia 🥰
May i request a yandere Chamberlain siblings and Irene with a fem knight reader? Where reader is a knight of claudia from childhood but got killed by the males leads because they thought that reader is really close to claudia?
U can ignore it if you want!^^
Have a great day ☺️
(Hey Yev! Thanks for requesting this! Trigger warning: murder, hanging, etc. Yandere content also written with female reader in mind, but it is gn)
Tumblr media
Yan! Chamberlain siblings X Knight! Reader X Yan! Irene (platonic)
Tumblr media
☢ Irene read about you and how you were a middle class noble's daughter, your parents supported everything you do even when you asked to be a knight to your darling friend Claudia, you trained with Felix and soon you became a knight due to your hard-work and became Claudia's right-hand (wo)man!!!
☢ But you were unfortunately killed brutally by the three male leads, which made Irene very MAD obviously, you were her favourite, and then when she turned into Irene, she was destined to make sure you were safe. She didn't care what happened, you were going to be happy and her ship is going to sail!!!!
☢ You, Irene and Claudia are the most amazing trio, both Claudia and Irene ready to throw hands for you, a knight very much strong enough to kill three bears if they attacked at the same time, yeah, it is the trope of a big gentle and two small angry gremlins, it's fine, you like your two very pretty gremlins!!! You're very chaotic to be around, ngl....
☢ Felix often helps you train and Lerase is also there, he is impressed by your strength and finds you nice and entertaining and often leaves you alone when he is in control of Felix, he doesn't like to hurt, not only because he likes you a bit but also because Claudia and Irene will not leave him if he does so, does not matter if he is in Felix's body or in the demon realm...
☢ The moment, Claudia, Felix or Irene see any of the male leads even in a 100 meter radius, they are ready to rip someone to shreds, especially them who cheated you and killed you after betraying you, yes they gave you a love potion and then killed you in cold blood just like with Irene right before kidnapping Claudia...
☢ You also taught Claudia and Irene some sword fighting and self defense to protect themselves in case you aren't there, but it wasn't much of use cause you're always near them and always there to protect them and help them
☢ Claudia and Felix are very much in love with you, the siblings always fight on who will spend more time with you and Irene always win in that matter, cause she is your elder sister, does not matter if you're 100 and she is 12, she will be your ELDER SISTER!!!! She approves of the Chamberlain siblings and would allow you to date them on one condition, they keep you away from the three male leads, Lerase is also not one to back down as well....goodluck to you!
☢ Anyways, Felix and Claudia constantly flirting with you, Lerase also flirting with you late at nights, but dirty flirting with you which makes you blush and heat up and Lerase chuckles and smiles at you, for the first time in a million years, you don't know what these feelings are and oh! If you ever see them kill anyone, just walk away, pretty person~
☢ Also, Claudia, Irene and Felix killed the three male leads, if you're wondering how, Claudia flirted with them or they asked you to meet somewhere but they got the letter and then BOOM! Murdered!!!! They got their head crushed, stabbed, hanged and other things I won't mention as it is too graphic, but not like they care!!
☢ Okay, now father Chamberlain does not mind his child to be dating you, in fact he will get you married to the two underground where same sex marriage and poly marriages are allowed, so anyways, you got married to the two....Somehow, turns out it wasn't a dream....you get Irene and father and mother Chamberlain's blessings and prays, they love you!!!
☢ okay, now that you're married to Claudia and Felix, them sharing you, one thing that is frequent is, both of them will have you to themselves separately for a whole day, they're siblings and so they know how to share things well, they do get jealous at times though... It's fine, they have you on their lap, your head on your lap or them on your lap, cause they don't care and equality!!!
☢ Oh, please train in front of them in a tank top or something like that, they love your figure, does not matter if you're chubby or skinny or anything else, they find you attractive for you and your body and your great beauty was just a plus point!!

How about Roleswap! Auditore Family?
What happen if one of them (Giovanni, Petruccio, Federico or Claudia) takes the place of Ezio?
Like Ezio is one of the executed and Federico is the only Auditore man that survives?
Or Claudia is the only Auditore child left?
So let’s set some ground rules first.
Ezio can only replace one of them. This means that the only one of them will survive.
This does not take inconsideration what would happen to Desmond’s bloodline unless we set this as a time travel scenario where Desmond fucked up so badly he got Ezio killed instead. We’re focusing on the Auditores in this one.
.
Giovanni:
Giovanni would probably be angst-y as hell for one main reason. He watched all of his sons died, unable to save them because he trusted the wrong man. His relationship with Maria would take a serious hit and he’d grow to be overly protective of Claudia. He would probably choose to escape to Spain like Ezio did before Mario reminds him that he was being hunted. Even if he was to go elsewhere, the Templars will hunt him and his family down.
Another additional wrinkle in this one is that his relationship with the Medici could change as well. He could start to understand that his closeness with Lorenzo only made it so much easier for the Templars to find him and his family.
He would absolutely not hesitate to kill Rodrigo Borgia and the Apple would be able to tempt him as well.
.
Federico:
This would actually be the closest to Ezio’s story beat. The only real difference is that Federico would see himself as weak and a failure for being unable to save his father and brothers. He’d be more serious than Ezio and it would actually take less time for him to be trained as he was already in the middle of his Assassin training anyway.
He would also not hesitate to kill Rodrigo Borgia if given a chance. There would also be a scene with him and Cristina similar to the flashback in ACB. In this one though, Federico would apologize for being unable to save Ezio.
.
Petruccio:
Oh, man. We’re going to play with Petruccio a bit.
A situation we can use is that Petruccio learns of the Shroud and gets Claudia to help him find it. He uses the Shroud to heal his body but this has the dire consequence of awakening the Isu inside the Shroud that starts haunting him like his own personal Bleeding Effect hallucination. In this one, Petruccio is much more connected to the POEs because of the Shroud.
But you know what would be fun?
If Petruccio continues to have a weak body and replaces Claudia as the ‘administrator’ of Monteriggioni. But that’s what they want everyone to believe. Claudia becomes his knight while he becomes the mastermind hiding behind the huge shadows cast by their uncle. The death of his father and brothers shed whatever innocence he had left and he becomes a ruthless player, moving all the pieces in the board while pretending to just be a weak sickly young man. An inspiration that would guide Machiavelli’s hands in writing the Prince.
.
Claudia:
Honestly, Claudia would probably spend a year or more being lost. Her mother is catatonic, her father and brothers are dead, she only managed to get her mother out because her maid knew people who helped them and contacted her uncle to meet with them.
She wouldn’t even think of escaping to Spain. Where would they even stay there?
She knew that the best choice for her is to marry a powerful man who could protect her and her mother but, at the same time, she couldn’t even think of any man touching her without throwing up.
Learning the sword had been her way of trying to ‘heal’ herself. Mario saw her potential and taught her the ways of the Brotherhood.
She wanted revenge but, more importantly, she wanted to protect her mother and the second home that accepted them.
Honestly, out of all of them? Claudia would be the most ruthless of them all because she knows she can’t afford to be weak.
She can’t allow herself to be weak.
