Sword gays showdown, round 1, bracket two
Propaganda:
For Dave:
(tw meteors and child abuse) after being cloned by his best friend, dave is sent on a meteor to earth (with a pony), where he is found by his "bro" (actually kind of his dad). bro proceeds to SPEND THE NEXT 13 YEARS OF DAVES LIFE beating the everloving shit out of him, and also teaching him the use of the blade. as a result dave becomes very good at strifing, and his strife specibus is swordkind (basically he is Assigned Sword By Universe-Destroying Game). he goes to space and meets aliens and has a bisexual crisis! yeah thats right the blond guy with sword symbolism is BISEXUAL we keep on winning and dave deserves to win this poll too
his swords are sharp and awesome and are swords.
Dave uses Multiple swords throughout canon. Starts with a katana, switches to a broad sword, and alchemizes multiple variations of said broadsword! Not to mention his entire story arc is about coming into himself and that includes into his sexuality. Bisexual Dave truther for the win
Bi and gay sibling solidarity
For Ahsoka:
Girl weilds not one but TWO lightsabers! Look at her go! I know a lot of her fans headcanon her as LGBTQ, especially cuz there's some episodes (especially episodes 5-8 of season 7) where her interactions with other women really give off those vibes. Anyway, back to her swordiness - she kicked Maul's robotic ass even tho he's older and has more experience than her, she demolishes the Inquisitors when she's older in Rebels, and just. Her cute little tricks and quips! I love her.

So, I’ve been texting my dad (mostly) spoiler free summaries of The Bad Batch all season, each with a different theme (bad batch episodes as Disney park rides, bad batch episodes so far as out of context Wrecker lines, etc), and the last one was just me trying to make the episodes as mundane as possible. Which basically went like:
1. The Spoils of War: A questionable middle-manager tempts her employees with the sizeable performance bonus.
2. The Ruins of War: Mom horrified to learn that their daughter took him literally while their brother refuses to acknowledge a medical emergency.
3. The Solitary Clone: Depressed man who hates his job and never gets a lunch break is forced to deal with the woman who keeps ignoring all the “under new management” signs.
4. Faster: Gifted pilot reveals that he is no more responsible than either the man child or the literal child he was left to supervise.
5. Entombed: Child convinces her aunt to take her to a high tech corn maze; exhausted dad reluctantly tags along.
6. Tribe: Dad Squad steps in to help with a carpool.
7. The Clone Conspiracy: Career soldiers contemplate retirement.
8. Truth and Consequences: Wanted criminals break in to the world’s most dangerous Blockbuster to find a rare video.
9. The Crossing: Family goes spelunking in Space Moab.
10. Retrieval: Demolitions expert is so hangry he accidentally stumbled into a Dickens novel.
11. Metamorphosis: Four idiots go out of their way to prove that they have never seen a horror movie.
12. The Outpost: New transfer goes birdwatching in the snow.
13. Pabu: Broke ne’erdowells eat sushi.
14. Tipping Point: Responsible big brother teaches little sister how to drive the family car while one brother grabs dinner and the other has a doctor’s appointment.

Bad Batch is almost over so I'm going to ramble. If anyone can relate, please reply or reblog. Share what this show has meant to you, share your thoughts, share theories, tag people. Let's give it a send off.
Star Wars has been a massive part of my life for years.
I loved everything about the Clone Wars, the world building, the character development for the jedi, but most of all the clones. As someone who finds it hard to read faces, it was fun getting to know each of the clones as individuals with their own personalities and I actually never had any issues telling them apart. It hits hard, I think that's what makes their stories even more tragic.
Echo and Fives are my favourite Star Wars characters so I was really happy when Echo came back in Clone Wars season 7. That was why I decided to watch the Bad Batch- it then became my favourite series.
I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do when this show ends. I think the hardest part is not knowing what the galaxy has in store for the batch and where it could go from here. Whatever happens I’ll always be grateful for the experiences I've had as part of this community over the last few years.
I think that's what's great about being part of a fandom. Seeing all the different ideas and projects that get put out there every day as well as knowing everyone else is in just as much suspense as I am. I haven't interacted on here that much until the last few months, but I check the tags a lot and all the fanart has been immaculate. The writers and artists are crazy talented and work so hard, I admire the level of dedication and aspire to be like that. 😂
I'm also really grateful for the three seasons we got with Clone Force 99.
Seeing Echo go from a shiny in the Clone Wars to becoming who he is now. (I could talk about that for ages, but I'll save that for another post.)
Seeing Crosshair regain his trust in the batch and get to change.
Seeing Hunter step up for his brothers and Omega.
Seeing more sides to Wrecker's strength.
Seeing Omega go from that kid who'd never seen dirt before to learning from her brothers and proving how brave she is.
And lastly, seeing Tech make the choice he did back in season 2. It wasn't easy to watch, because he deserved more time and there was definitely a massive hole in season 3 without him.
I'm not ready to say goodbye to any of them.
My favourite episodes in season 1 were the last few, when Kamino fell. It was the end of an era as well as a new beginning.
My favourite episode in season 2 was episode 8. I was really proud of Echo, plus he got a hug from Omega which I have admittedly rewatched far too many times.
My favourite episodes in season 3 were episodes 13 and 14. The stakes have been so high and it's been great seeing Echo's ARC skills in action again. (Plus the dialogue with Rampart was top tier. Hate that guy, but it was hilarious.)
I'm well aware of all the theories for the finale. I'm choosing to ignore most of them, but I’d like to present my own.
I hope Echo gets to finish what Fives started and the clones can finally be free, including Tech if he's CX2. I hope the batch gets to burn Tantiss to the ground and fly off into the sunset with Omega and the kids from the vault, and then I hope they continue a lifetime of bullying Rampart. I also hope Emerie gets to whack Hemlock with a steel chair, and then the Zillo beast can eat him.
…After all, Star Wars is based on hope, right?
If anyone actually ended up reading this to the end you're a real one- have a great final Bad Batch eve, and may the force be with you.

You know I wonder if anyone has done the math to see what the chances are of a named clone dying or not.
If you think about it let’s go down the list and I am going to do some quick math
TLDR with the bad batch included clones have a probability to survive at 68% without them included they have a probability of just 54%
This is done by using characters who appeared in multiple episodes or appeared once in TCW and then in ROTS Math below.
Warning this includes spoilers up to episode 7 of the bad batch season 3
If you can think of enough clones who appeared in multiple episodes or projects I will include them in another revised version.
Kix (alive)1
Jessie (dead)1
Hardcase (dead) 2
Rex (Alive) 2
Wolffe (alive) 3
Fives (dead) 3
Waxer (dead) 4
Boil (alive) 4
Fox (dead) 5
Nemec (dead) 6
Fireball (Dead) 7
Sinker (alive) 7
Boost (alive) 8
Ridge (dead) 8
Vaughn (dead) 9
Cut Lawquane (alive) 9
Hawk (alive) 10
Bly (alive) 11
Gree (Dead) 10
Cody (alive) 12
Howzer (alive) 13
Tech (Dead/alive he’s schrodinger’s clone)
Crosshair (alive) 14
Echo (alive) 15
Hunter (alive) 16
Wrecker (alive) 17
CX1 (dead) 11
Dogma (alive) 18
Tup (Dead) 12
Oddball (alive) 19
99 (Dead) 13
Havoc (dead) 14
Colt (dead) 15
Blitz (alive) 20
Hammer (alive) 21
Boba (alive) 22
Not counting CX 2 just in case it’s someone on this list
Not including the clone cadets or Omega as there is a 0% chance any of them die so they screw with results (children aren’t going to die in a Star Wars TV-PG show)
Okay I have gone through as many clones as I can think of that appeared in more than one episode of TCW and revenge of the Sith and the bad batch
A clone has a 68% chance of survival as of episode 7 of TBB
However if you remove the bad batch itself a clones survival chances drop to just 54%
Also I just realized I forgot to calculate Scorch being alive (weirdly enough now with the bad batch he has appeared more than almost any clone lol)

• Tales of the Jedi (Episode 3) - 44BBY
• Visions (S1E4) - EDUK

• Return of the Jedi - 4ABY
• Visions (S1E1) - EDUK
• The Mandalorian (Seasons 1 and 2) - 9-10ABY
• Book of Boba Fett - 10ABY
• Visions (S2 Episode 4) - EDUK
• The Mandalorian (Season 3) - 11ABY
• Ahsoka - 11ABY (Simultaneous with season 3 of The Mandalorian)
I didn't include any of the Visions episodes that are clearly before 100BBY simply because they would be next to impossible to date. While the other Visions episodes, for the most part, cannot be CLEARLY dated, they're pretty easy to ballpark with outfits, ship styles, comments made by the characters, and the presence or absence of the Empire.

Thoughts on The Bad Batch Episode 13 - Into the Breach - A Discussion Post
This episode was much shorter than the others, but there was a lot to take in as the boys head into more action. Let's return to the episode that had all of our hearts racing towards the end!
(SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE EPISODE YET! all screencaps from www.cap-that.com! https://www.cap-that.com/starwars/the-bad-batch/313/index.php?page=1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mount Tantiss looks stunning in the sunshine, but it is such a dark place inside. Omega lays in her cell in The Vault, wearing a different prison uniform than she had before, one similar to the other kids. Omega walks out and approaches Eva, meeting the other kids and picking up the games they were given. I'm glad to see that Jax is okay, and we got to learn the name of the young Pantoran girl - Sami. Omega observes the doctors upstairs, who are always keeping an eye on the kids. The kids have lost hope of escape, but Omega still has her eyes set on one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the planet where Omega was taken to by Cad Bane back in Season 1 where Taun We died and Fennec tried to protect Omega, the boys are stationed there with Rampart, waiting for Echo to come pick them up (MOTHER IS BACK!). Echo arrives with a stolen Imperial ship, and they immediately begin asking Rampart for answers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rampart tells the boys that any ship going to Tantiss has to go through an Imperial station to be confirmed and to get the coordinates to Tantiss. The boys decide to travel to Coruscant, where the station is located. Echo hands Rampart a uniform to use as a disguise and to help the boys get them in, which he whines about because it's a captain's uniform. Echo telling him he's been demoted was so funny.
The synchronized "Yes" that Crosshair and Wrecker said when Rampart asked them if they think he's lying was hilarious. The boys are so done with him at this point, if they didn't need him they would have thrown him out by now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Emerie comes by to collect the daily blood samples from the kids, and Omega asks her where the kids had come from. Emerie says she doesn't know, but she still believes that they are well taken care of here. She is still believing the same lies she is being told; I feel like a drastic event has to happen to get Emerie to open up her eyes more rather than just the time she went to get Baryn from Cad Bane.
She heads back up to the other doctors, and we get to hear Dr. Scalder talk long after the episode "Kamino Lost" back in Season 1. She fears that Omega could escape again and doesn't like how Emerie is running things, but Emerie says she can handle it and will run the Vault however she wants as the chief scientist.
Also, it's a surprising detail to see another male doctor on Tantiss after many episodes of just seeing female doctors around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Omega goes to sit back with the kids, who continue to play with the games they were given, and Sami keeps Baryn close to her. Omega had taken a sharp tool from Emerie's tools, keeping it hidden under her sleeve and revealing it to the kids. The kids have no hope of ever escaping from Tantiss, but Omega tells them that she has escaped before, and she plans on doing it again. She walks them through an escape plan using the toys they were given. She says, "I like a challenge," and I cheered. The boys have raised her so well to be a confident and strong young woman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The boys arrive near Coruscant and Echo makes all of their armor black, stripping off all the colorful paint and specialized designs they had each made for themselves. Hunter observes his black helmet, and I saw some posts discussing the fear that one of them could die soon (a lot of focus is on Hunter), one talking about probably Hunter thinking about their first mission since they didn't have any paint on their armor yet. It's sad to see that they have gotten this far and nothing is the same as it was back during their happy life in the Clone Wars, back when they were all together as one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Rampart's help and skills from when he was in the Empire to get past the Imperial officers, the boys manage to get to a control room to try and find the coordinates to Tantiss. They couldn't find the coordinates, but Echo discovers that a ship is ready to leave for Tantiss soon. The boys decide to find the ship and follow it, as Echo volunteers to find it in the ship docking bay.
Meanwhile, Wrecker waits with the ship, killing some time on his datapad. I love how we all agreed that he's probably playing Candy Crush or a different game, and his hand was scrolling through the datapad. I wonder what he was actually doing; he looks so cute sitting like that. An officer finds Wrecker and asks him questions about the ship, and the way he said "Uh, captaining" was so adorable. He lets his brothers know, as they need to start picking up the pace.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I loved this view above Tantiss and when it sharply cut to the shot of the circle of the Vault, those were such nice added details. It broke my heart when Baryn appeared on screen, happily playing with the little flat square blocks and laughing to himself, then standing up and walking over to Sami to hang out with her and play with his doll. He is so young, and he doesn't understand anything that is going on around him right now. But he keeps himself satisfied, and it worries me that he is keeping himself so happy after being separated from his mother. At least Sami is helping to keep him safe and happy.
Tumblr media
Omega decides to go back to her cell to try initiating her escape plan, and Dr. Scalder sees the kids, who look at each other with worried eyes. She grows suspicious and decides to head down to the Vault to check things. For a second, I thought she was going to go to Hemlock to tell him something, but that was mostly me freaking out and I wasn't sure where she was going. She arrives in the Vault and when Omega had made some noise she didn't mean to make when propping open her cell wall, she manages to quickly hide the evidence and appear normal when Scalder arrives. Scalder leaves, still finding everything suspicious.
Omega tells the kids that it worked, and there's more to come in her plan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Echo sneaks around the ship docking bay, managing to find the ship that is set to leave for Tantiss. When he bumps into some droids getting ready to go to Tantiss as well, he decides that the droid tube is the best way to get him on the ship. The way he was sneaking around was so hot- his ARC trooper skills was really kicking in.
Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, and Rampart manage to get back to the ship to leave with Wrecker, and they secretly follow the ship ready to go to Tantiss. Echo tries to put off the shields and Hunter slowly flies behind to quickly get on once Echo is ready, and Echo nearly gets caught. Rampart freaks out and wants Hunter to abort the mission, to which Hunter replies, "Negative." He boosts the engine and, quickly and carefully, latches onto the ship just as it departs for Tantiss into hyperspace. Hunter is not playing around anymore; Hemlock you better start counting your days.
The fact that Rampart is also on his way to Tantiss with them is also hilarious, he did not expect to get himself into all of this chaos. I'd love to see Omega's reaction when she gets back with them and sees Rampart. I really hope the boys get there in time before Omega manages to escape herself with the kids (and hopefully Emerie and the other clones), while the boys plan to free them. We've entered the days of the pre-finale, and now it's time to be really terrified.

Star Wars Rebels Bechdel Test Rewatch- Season 2 Recap
Tumblr media
I’m all done with Season 2! I’m flying through this rewatch. This show is great in a binge watch. In terms of the Bechdel Test, Season 2 was a marked improvement. Let’s see how it did overall.
15 out of 22 episodes in Season 2 pass the Bechdel Test. This is up from 8 out of 15 episodes in Season 1. This is also more passing episodes than any single season of The Clone Wars which peaked at 11 passing episodes in Seasons 3 and 5.
The passing Season 2 episodes are: “The Siege of Lothal (Parts 1 and 2),’ ‘Always Two There Are,’ ‘Wings of the Master,’ ‘Blood Sisters,’ ‘The Future of the Force,’ ‘Legacy,’ ‘A Princess on Lothal,’ ‘The Protector of Concord Dawn,’ ‘Legends of Lasat,’ ‘The Call,’ ‘Homecoming,’ ‘Shroud of Darkness,’ ‘The Forgotten Droid,’ and ‘The Mystery of Chopper Base.’
The strongest episodes in terms of representation with 4 female named female characters with speaking roles each are ‘The Siege of Lothal (Part 1)’, ‘The Future of the Force,’ ‘Shroud of Darkness,’ and ‘The Mystery of Chopper Base.’  I terms of actual dialogue exchanged between women, I’d say ‘The Future of the Force’ was the strongest overall
There are 13 named female characters with speaking roles in Season 2, up quite a bit from the measly 4 we got in Season 1. By comparison, there are 29 named male characters with a speaking role in Season 2, which is only slightly up from 26 in Season 1. Of the 13 characters, 9 were new to the series. It’s also worth noting that 3 out of the 13 are killed before the end of the Season (Minister Tua, Deiser, and the Seventh Sister). Ahsoka also disappears at the end of the Season.
The characters who recurred the most frequently are:
Hera Syndulla- (20 Episodes)
Sabine Wren- (20 Episodes)
Ahsoka Tano (9 Episodes)
Seventh Sister (6 Episodes)
Ketsu Onyo (2 episodes)
Every episode in Season 2 featured at least 2 female characters with speaking roles. This is a big improvement from The Clone Wars. The only characters to appear in every episode were Ezra, Kanan, and Chopper.
Season 3 let’s goooooooo!

Tuesday Typings
I came back from the North American Science Fiction Convention with so many books. Notes on costume stuff, one giant costume todo list, and recent reads/watches as well.
Books acquired recently
The Archive Undying, Emma Mieko Candon, 2023, bought
This is How You Lose the Time War, Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone, 2020, bought — finished and enjoyed
The Sng of Achilles, Madeline Miller, 2012, bought
Translation State,, Ann Leckie, 2023, bought
Francis: The People's Pope, Ted Rall, allegedly autographed, 2018, bought
The Stars Like Dust, Isaac Asimov, 1996 paperback printing, gifted
The Courier, Gerald Brandt, 2016, free pile
Alliance Rising, C. J. Cherryh and Jane S. Fancher, 2019, free pile
Foundryside, Robert Jackson Bennett, 2019 Broadway promo printing, free pile
Mica, fille de Transyl, Michèle Laframboise, 2012, free pile — I do not read the French; this is going on a gift pile for a Francophone friend
To Climb a Flat Mountain, G. David Nordley, 2009?, bought after the author gave me an answer to a worldbuilding problem
Burning Days, Glenn Grant, 2011, free
This Virtual Night, C.S. Friedman, 2021, free
To Each This World, Julie Czerneda, 2022, free and signed

She Who Became The Sun, Shelley Parker-Chan, 2021, free
All of the free books are from Pemmi-Con; half are from DAW Publishers who were really, really generous.
Recent Reading and Watching
This is How You Lose the Time War surprised me with the identity of the Seeker; mid-book I thought there might be another operative tailing them, or a Purple child, or a third side to this war. That last prediction was quite close!
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn - Bande Dessinee Episode: 0 wasn't particularly thrilling, but I value it because it fills out the characters of Full Frontal and Angelo Sauper, and how the Zeonist public sees things before the initiation of the Third Neo Zeon War, aka The Laplace Incident.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been good through season 7; I ned to track down season 8 to see if they later appearance of Ashoka in Star Wars Rebels makes any sense.
Legend of Galactic Heroes: I have finally finished this. RIP to a legend, but we all knew that the death flag for the last person to die was waved at the end of the third season. Rubinsky's end was also fitting: reflecting of how he was no longer part of the plot, he was also no longer part of politics. His last gasp felt irrelevant, and really was.
Pacific Rim: The Black is a 3dcg film that's reminiscent of RWBY and Dragon Prince in style, but with the same Ramin Djiwadi soundtrack, and some neat twists that really delve into the fridge horror of the setting. But this is a kids' show, so there's little blood, the decapitations happen out of frame, and the heads don't roll too far. Episode 7 has a nice "it's dangerous to go alone; take this" moment.
Computing
A 2.1A powerbank is not enough to stably power a Pi 1 B+ with a 4.0" square Hyperpixel Touch display and a wireless keyboard. Big Sad. Next question is if a PiSugar 3 battery controller will work with a Pi 1 B+ or if I should splurge $75 on a Pi 4 for this device.
I'd like to have a mobile compute terminal that's smaller than a 13" laptop, but still has USB ports. Scrollwheel and a button to toggle the OSK would also be nice.
Primary nonwork laptop's keyboard continues to degrade; It's becoming a desk item. Its degradation is the primary driver of the new palmtop development.
Actually, wait, I have a spare CM4 from a StereoPi 2 device. I could use that, with a compatible breakout board maybe. Or I could test the Hyperpixel screen on the Stereopi board directly. Then I'd have a 4" touchscreen mated to a … 5" wide board? Well, it'll at least let me test some things, like whether the CM4 works for this use case. Bonus dual cameras is a questionable bonus.
Crafting
KInda burnt out on crafting, tbh. Last two weeks were full of crunch before Pemmi-Con/NASFiC, which netted me a "Judge's Choice in Novice Class" award and "Best Use of Modern Tech" in the Masquerade competition.
Next up, over @glowingskull, I plan to post rundowns of the stuff I made, and maybe some shapefiles, but there's a lot of work left in this costume and I plan to redo large parts of the headgear.
Because, let's be honest, the post-con todo list for that costume is basically:
Better photographs?
Write up the project
Print off a holder for these parts, because I'm retiring them to mount on the wall
Redesign snout, again, to remove grilles and double-thicken all the parts
Resculpt temples and ears of skull
Put a visor in the eye holes
Eye-lights in visor?
Enclose head: back of skull, ventilation, neck sock
Redo the flame staff's camera monopod mount attachment point for durability (may require welding?)
Sculpt a model for the chestpiece, so it's plastic instead of foam
Sculpt a model for arm bracers
And then on top of that I also want to:
Document the Servicer outfit
Sew on a Masonic patch for the Servicer outfit
Build some DIY NVGs for use in costume projects like this one
Write up the Baba Yaga's Hut costume which won Best In Show
I think my next costume goal, after the revised Turaga Vakama, will be an Earth Federation Space Forces officer uniform, so I can give the planned "WTF is Zeon" lectures in character.
The next head goal will be a Deinonychus head with articulated jaw, which requires advancements in augmented reality. Need to get the StereoPi working, or ditch/sell it and switch to paired NVG monocles.
Music
I think it's time for Pacific Rim soundtracks. Pacific Rim: The Black sounds somewhere between the Pacific Rim movies' soundtracks and the tense violin work from the 2009 Sherlock Holmes movie with RDJ and Jude Law, soundtrack by Hans Zimmer. Not particularly Australian, unfortunately.
Lego Stuff
Gotta merge the two submarine kits, and build the Emperor's Throne Room that I won at pinball at Pemmi-Con.
