Hunter at first didn’t really talk to Willow that much because everyone in the post called his voice annoying and he didn’t want to annoy Willow

Huntlow's first kid's palisman should be a hummingbird. Hummingbird wingbeats sound like the buzzing of bees, linking to Clover. And it be a birb which harks back to Flapjack (even though Hunter should be making his own new wolf palisman). Maybe some shade of green like Willow's colour scheme, and moves speedily like how Hunter moves

Him and Willow carving their kids' palismen with them can be a perfect echo of Dell telling Eda "carving [Owlbert] with you is one of my greatest memories".

Shadow's Reach - Ch 17

Chapter 17 of Shadow's Reach is up!

More angst, humor, and Huntlow as they deal with the aftermath of the possession. Today's chapter focuses on Willow's family, and the impact of things that go unspoken.

Also, Clover continues to bee amazing. Palismen deserve more attention and I will die on that hill.

I know it’s already been brought up and established, but I gotta talk about why this Miraculous Ladybug au is perfect for Huntlow, and how I wish there was more content.

1. Marinette and Willow are both strong-willed, occasionally clumsy, and are fierce about protecting their friends and loved ones. Now, the only thing is Willow would not be called “Ladybug” due to her fear of ladybugs; either that, or that could be part of her character development in which she gets over her fear. Honestly, it’d be cute if she was the bee miraculous holder due to having her palisman, Clover.

2. Adrien and Hunter are both blonde precious baby boys that have both been through a lot of trauma concerning their parental figures. Both have well-educated backgrounds in that they are very knowledgeable about different subjects. They also have a history in fashion; that being Adrien is a model for his dad’s company, and Hunter takes on sewing as a past time. Also, when they’re both in costume as Chat Noir and The Golden Guard, they’re both way more confident and sassy around others.

3. Gabriel and Belos, while both are the father/uncle figures to Adrien and Hunter, they both are very manipulative and distant from them; not acting like family in the slightest. Both have evil alter egos/forms/plans that most people don’t know about them, especially Adrien and Hunter; Hunter at least knows now, but Adrien is still in the dark.

4. The palismen could be the Miraculouses

I mean, come on! Let’s talk more about this au!

Since everyone is loving my TOH analysis posts, I think it's time to do one for the best girl witch: Willow Park.💚

✨From the start she became my favorite, everything except the hair color and ears, she looked like me when I was a kid. We even have similar personalities and a love for plants. When we are introduced to her she was sweet and shy, as well as showing kindness to the smallest flower that she stepped on. And when she got mad after Amity bullied her I'm not going to lie I had an "oh shit" moment that later on had me thinking that she was going to be a strong ally for Luz someday. Characters in anime and cartoons that show that level of power early on are usually going to be an important one, villain or hero. Like nature, Willow is a force to be reckoned with. Her own namesake resonates with the same power willow trees have had for thousands of years.🌿

🔮From my own studying of magic and witchcraft for years, I looked up anything and everything magical about my favorite trees and plants, and even before that I liked willow trees (kid me thought they were pretty because they "had hair" and I loved Grandmother Willow from the movie "Pocahontas".) Willow trees have long been associated with witches, ghosts, the moon, water, magic, music, love, and goddesses like Hecate, Persephone, Demeter, Artemis and Cerridwen. So when the episode "Hootys Moving Hassle" came out and they did the moonlight conjuring, I knew it wasn't a coincidence. It is also a tree that stands for healing of emotional wounds and the heart. 💚

🌱Willow has shown time and again that the process of healing from past wounds isn't steady, but the results are worth it. From there she found out her own strength and goals that she went for. It's also important to not forget the bad as much as the fond memories we have. (I almost forgot that Willow loved books as much as Amity as well as being covered in band aids all the time. Great episode to rewatch again.)🍄

🐝On to her palismen: Clover. I thought this was the perfect creature for Willow being both a pollinator and a fierce little buggy. Bees also have been considered sacred to goddesses of nature, Rhea, Freya, and Aphrodite, and is a symbol of the feminine energy. "Tender yet tenacious" is the best description the Bat Queen gave for both Willow and Clover. Bees are also an animal that symbolizes hard work, reaching for your goals and dreams, strength, unity, and most importantly family and community. Bees are a reminder to enjoy the sweetness of life and rhythms of nature.☀️

Her goal as a witch was "to be strong and wise to protect her loved ones and that if anyone gets in her way they feel the sting of defeat." Willow Park is the definition of strong and sweet, a great example that you can balance a female characters' best qualities. I'm so excited to see where Dana Terrace takes this character for the finale. Of course, I am excited for the possibility of her and Hunter. And yet most have forgotten that she is a great character outside of getting shipped with characters like her former bullies(really?) If anything her relationship with Hunter is meant to enhance her character and not overshadow it. Future analysis of their relationship will be made so I look forward to writing that.😊

Luz explains palismen in general to her mother and how most of her friends' palismen were once abandoned by their old witches and since adopted by their new ones. Except Ghost, apparently. (Either a hand-me-down from a relative, or the Blights' wealth and connections allowed them to get the wood for Amity to carve her own.)

Camila is so thankful that past her was a camping nut.

The Noceda family went on so many camping trips because of it, mostly an excuse to see what animals they could see. The trips became less and less as the years went by and Manny got more sick, but Camila pushes it back now. It means that she has sleeping bags and cots for the now six kids living in her home.

Luz is showing Willow and Amity the bathroom now. Hunter and Gus are downstairs, making sure the arrangements are comfortable. Vee is...somewhere. It means nobody sees Camila’s smile fade and her shoulders slump.

Mierda.

Six kids under one roof. Six traumatized kids. Camila doesn’t know what to do but at least they’re safe. Figuring out what comes next can happen after a good night’s sleep.

She looks around her kitchen, hoping something to do catches her eye. There isn’t much to clean up, however. The kids had cleaned up after themselves and arranged their dirty shoes by the door. The jacket Luz was wearing is slung over her chair, however.

Camila grabs it. It looks like a letterman jacket, although she’s never seen a-

Something falls out and it’s only her reflexes from years of wrangling Luz that prevents it from hitting the floor. Camila breathes a sigh of relief. Then she looks down at what she holds.

It’s an egg.

Or, it looks like an egg. It feels like a wood carving to her hand though. Camila wonders if this is a piece of art her mija made, studying it. Ombre shades of light blue paint it with little swirls of a darker blue running through out. Should she get a case for it?

“Oh, there it is!” Luz’s smile doesn’t reach her eyes, but she does look relieved as she gently plucks the egg from Camila’s hand. She holds it gently as though it’s fragile, cradling it close. The sight warms her heart but she still doesn’t know what it is.

“What is that?” Camila asks, her curiosity winning out as she hands the jacket to her daughter.

Luz blinks. “Oh, this?” She holds it up, her smile fond. “This is going to be my Palisman.”

The word is unfamiliar but it feels laced with a certain type of magic. “Palisman?”

Luz nods as she sets the jacket on the table, moving the fabric around. “You know familiars? Well, over there, they’re called Palismen.” The shape of the jacket becomes clear. “Witches carve them from wood and they become their companion for life.” For a moment, anguish flashes over her features. It smooths out as she sets the egg inside. “Or, they used to.”

For a moment, anger rises up. Camila can guess why the they used to is there.

And she wants nothing more than to get a punch in on Belos.

Camila bites it back and instead focuses on the egg. “Do your friends have them?”

Luz nods. “The wood to carve them is too rare now so adoption’s the best way. Most of them were abandoned to a caretaker and they got to pick them out.” Her brows furrow together as she thinks. “Except Ghost, I think.” Her face must be blank as her mija scrambles to explain with “Amity’s palisman. The lavender-haired girl.” Her eyes light up with a strange joy at the mention of her and, for a third or fourth time by now, Camila wonders who this girl is to Luz. “Her family’s rich so she either carved them herself or inherited it from one of her family members.”

Camila pushes back the mystery. “What about everyone else?”

Luz’s grin becomes bigger and there’s the smile she knows. “Willow has this bee named Clover. Gus has a chameleon called-” She takes a deep breath. “Emmiline Bailey Marcostimo. And Hunter has-” Something lands on her head and Luz and Camila both look up to see a cardinal. It chirps a greeting and Luz coos, reaching up to scratch under its chin. “This little rascal. His name is Flapjack.”

Manny would have loved this.

Camila reaches up, offering her hand. Flapjack seems to consider her for a moment before hopping off Luz’s head into her hand. For something carved of wood, he feels real. Alive. She smiles, gently scratching him under his chin. “It’s nice to meet you, Flapjack.”

And it will be wonderful to meet Luz’s palisman.

Okay here are some random Huntlow headcannon lol gimme ur thoughts : On like their 1 month anniversary or some anniversary Hunter has been doing sewing lessons with Darius for a while by then and so with the help of Darius he makes a quilt or something with a bird and bee design for their palismen and then on their anniversary takes willow on a picnic and they use the quilt as a picnic blanket 💖💖

That's so cute!!

Love the idea that Hunter chooses to make his gifts rather than buy them. He probably doesn't trust himself to buy gifts, especially for somebody like Willow who is so pretty and likes pretty things but he doesn't have a fucking clue what defines something as "pretty" in her eyes. She thinks he's pretty which kinda throws all of the data off balance. But he knows she loves Clover and she loves Flapjack!! She loves patched quilts!! (He's seen her bed. He pays attention!!) I imagine Willow is a little like a plant in a sense that she withers when it gets too cold. So Hunter figures that something that will keep her warm would be the ideal gift.

He also believes in the sentiment of effort. He puts a lot of work into making something cute that she'll like because he loves her. <3 Like he doesn't have to spend weeks tirelessly embroidering little birds and bees, pricking his fingers all the while but he wants to. He knows she'll smile everytime she looks at it because it's Clover and Flapjack, so he considers the extra work worth it.

He gives it to her to keep after their picnic and it becomes her bedspread. She keeps it for years and years until eventually it's their bedspread. <3

Day 1: Palismen/Date

So exciting, so excited!

I'm a sucker for the headcanon of palismen speaking with less words, idk why

Clover was flying in circles around the Noceda's garden, buzzing happily a self made melody as she bounced in the air from one side till the other, giving twirls and stroking the flowers of her witch with her body.

What could be the reason for the happiness of a little... Big bee? Maybe the pollen was sweeter today? Or maybe Willow gave her an extra kiss in the morning? Well, the truth was that she felt something special and different. She had been feeling it for a while now, not knowing what that meant, but now she realized, she is not the one feeling that way, it's her! Willow!

"A lot of noise! A lot!" Flapjack complained arriving through the window. He was taking his first nap of the afternoon, when a lot of 'Titan! Titan! So exciting, so excited!" woke him up, and also made him grumpy.

"Flapjack! Listen!" she buzzed, as she couldn't care less about his sleep, "Important thing!" she flew around him excited.

"What thing?" the cardinal asked, skeptical.

Clover tried to answer, but her excitement couldn't allow her. She started to spin around, not knowing if stay there or go any better place. Finally, she told him to follow her with a head move, he rolled his eyes and followed her till the top of the tree of the backyard.

"Tell me important thing" Flapjack demanded, grumpier now after all the mystery that the bee was creating without a good reason.

"Yes! But not tell big boy about this!" she frowned, so he would take her seriously.

"Hunter? He has something with it?" he rose an eyebrow.

"Yes! Promise?" she got closer.

Flapjack thought about it for a while, if it was something bad he would have to tell him about it, but we are talking about Clover, a happy clover, what bad news could make her that glad?, "Promise! Tell me, tell me!"

Clover buzzed happily and made a twirl in the air, "Important thing! Important thing!" she giggled, then calmed down and sit in a branch right in front of the red bird, "So, important thing is that Willow loves Hunter!" she squeaked, ready to fly around in circles with a happy Flapjack, but he just stayed in his place giving her his particular skeptical look.

"Sure! Everyone loves Hunter, he is a wonderful boy!" he said indignantly, as if insinuate another thing would be a crime.

"No! Flap-"

"No? Who don't love my boy?!" the bird asked ready to throw wings.

"No! Listen," she buzzed calmly, "Willow loves him, so much, so so so much!" she said as she spun gracely in the air, "True love! Beautiful love! Love, love, love!" she giggled and sit down, only to see his face as he realized what she meant.

"Love? Love! Hunter loves Willow too!" he chirped, opening his wings.

"Hunter loves Willow and Willow loves Hunter!" she sighed, satisfied with the cuteness.

"I know a lot about love!" Flapjack spun around Clover, "Caleb loved Evelyn too! And Evelyn loved him so much, so so so much!" he lied on her back, hugging her, "You think that Hunter and Willow love like Caleb and Evelyn?"

"No Flapjack, i never met those witches," Clover said, "But I met the two big witches that love Willow, they love each other so so so much too!" she giggled.

"Caleb was a human," Flapjack whispered, but Clover didn't listen, she was distracted by the back door of the house opening. "Like Luz, a wonderful human."

"Clover? Clover?" Willow was calling for her, and he was with her.

"Flapjack? Where are you, buddy?" Hunter also were calling for his palisman.

Both of them were looking around the backyard and the garden. Both palismen opened their wings and flew to them, then, twirled around them saying how excited they were, and how much they love them.

"Oh, I love you too!" both, witch and grimwalker, said at the same time, then looked at each other surprised. Willow just laughed it off, while Hunter blushed a little.

"Okay, what you two had been doing here?" Willow asked, but neither of the palismen answered, they just giggled and snuggled up in their hands.

"I guess they were looking for bugs and then remember that we can give them food, that's why they are saying how much they love us and stuff" Hunter said, looking at how cute Flapjack looked as he frowned indignantly, "Oh, so you aren't hungry, little bud?" he asked, getting a lovely bird snuggling towards his cheek as an answer.

Willow laughed, "Do you want some berries, big girl?" asked stroking her head, Clover nodded, looking so happy of having a really good and sweet witch. "And what do you say, Flapjack?"

The bird chirped, "Flapjack says that he would love that", Hunter answered for him.

"So what are we waiting for? Let's go inside!" Willow said with her lovely tone heading to the door, and Hunter followed her, thinking in how cute she was.

Clover flew to Willow's shoulder and looked at Flapjack, who was in Hunter's hands. Then she buzzed, and he chirped back, both knowing what they meant.

“so, have you been a bird this entire time?”

willow’s voice is light as hunter lands on the couch next to her, flapjack loping in at a slower pace, blinking a greeting up at clover on willow’s head, a large bee that buzzes her wings and glides down to land next to hunter.

“dunno,” hunter says.

“that does explain why you never liked being touched.” clover tilts her head. “i’m sorry for that. back with flyer derby, if i knew—”

hunter waves a wing. “i didn’t know either. s’not your fault, captain.” he sighs. he’s…still not really sure how to change. he should—he knows he did it a few times when he was crashing at the owl house—but then he had darius and now he’s pretty sure the man is dead just like luz is sure eda’s dead, and they aren’t helping each other any. so, willow. he knows luz is upstairs and screaming into her pillow and he doesn’t want to think about the why.

“i’ve noticed…” willow trails off, shakes her head as if to say nevermind, but clover flicks her wings against hunter’s side and says, “you still touch luz.”

“she’s...different. it’s weird.” hunter looks down at his talons. flapjack pads up to press their nose to the couch, and he brushes a wing across his nose. “i’ve only really told darius this, but…sometimes i wake up and it’s hard to tell who i am.”

willow says, “oh.”

“like i said.” hunter scuffs at the fabric of the couch. “weird.”

“well, however weird it is, i’m still your friend.” willow offers flapjack a hand, and the wolfhound presses his nose to it. hunter shivers, leans into clover. “you’re one of the best players on the team, after all.”

hunter flushes, fluttering. “that’s always been you.”

“nah, you’re pretty good competition.” she grins at him. “hey. i overheard gus saying he wanted to check out a human mall. wanna go make sure he doesn’t get himself hurt?”

“yeah,” hunter says, taking a breath. his tiny chest heaves with it. “i think i’d really like that.”

DISCUSSION

oh wyn you picked a FUN one!! a hunter and willow one!!! this is like...probably the only hunter and willow one so you hit the jackpot here.

so! this one is one of the earlier-written ones, me sort of...testing out hunter's whole Situation post-king's tide. as im sure you can tell, something sure is up with hunter, huh? yeah....his whole like. conceit in this daemon au is that he's actually sort of a little bit more like the daemon--belos was running out of caleb bones, and so for his latest grimwalker, he had to use caleb's daemon's remains...thus, flapjack is the grimwalker, and hunter is his daemon.

and on top of that ever since hunting palismen luz and hunter have been bleeding into each other a bit lol since flapjack is with hunter from the start here, there's something new i introduce! tho i think i will let you keep wondering what it is :) or it will come up in another one of these dnflgdfg.

i don't write willow that much! im coming up on 13 where she gets a pov so part of this is also like. dunno. willow and gus and amity are all in for A Lot when we get to season three, since luz and hunter spend a good chunk of season three not entirely sure where one ends and the other begins.

also her friend is a bird now. so. sort of a thing you need to get used to.

all in all, a little peak into what might happen over in the human realm. fun times! there's still a lot of unresolved ideas for s3 and i can totally see a scene like this becoming actual canon once i get there.

It took me too long to realize that both Willow and Skara have insect palismen. And I've been calling them 'Lucky Flower' based off of their palismen.

Honestly same. Before I noticed that they both had insect palismen, I called them either 'Sliver Petals' (Sliver because of Skara's dyed hair and Patals because of Willow's track) or 'Flowery Melody'. (Flowery because Willow is a part of the plant track and Melody because Skara is in the bard track)

Also, another thing about their palismans. Clover is a bee which is an insect that is used to help with plants and Willow is in the Plant track while Skara's palisman is a cricket which are known to make different kinds of sounds which is perfect for Skara who is in the Bard track. Just something that I noticed, and thought was fun to share.

I literally cannot get enough of palismen doing stuff like the animal they are. I’m not really familiar enough with Owls so I can’t say for sure that we ever see Owlbert doing Owl stuff.

But Ghost just doing cat things is always welcome. Clover doing bee things would be cute. Flapjack deserves to just do bird things. We need more time with the palismen in general.
