Okay so if you haven't heard of the game codenames you totally should check it out but for those who have, wouldnt it be funny for the bat fam to play?

To start, I think all of them would play differently and in probably conflicting ways. At least at first. As the code master, I feel like they would do...

Dick would probably try and use pop culture references that no one would know besides maybe Duke? (Jason was dead, Bruce was on the other side of the internet, tim was busy stalking, damian was in a cult, Steph and cass were busy beingtrained ect..) Eventually he would individualize questions but it did hurt when damain called him old.

Jason would be a lot like Dick in but with literature references. Only when people didn't get them he would call them uncultured (especially tim). He would try and keep things more simple in terms of prompts. Nothing too crazy.

You'd think Tim would be awesome at codenames and he is but only at guessing. As the code master he will give you prompts for five at one time and wonder why you didn't make the obvious connection. He would rather quit than give a hint for one.

Steph is the real champion of codenames because yk she grew up with a puzzle master (I forget his name). She also isn't a lunatic like Tim so she can do understandable hints. Also she finds it funny she is beating two "world class detectives" at a puzzle game.

Cass isn't really playing much. She would prefer to watch or cheer on both teams.

Duke is pretty solid at it. He cant really do shared missions but he does actually use a lot of their names bc he hears a ton of gossip about everyone.

Damian gets into the most trouble when the people on his team do not know what the word means. On top of that he displays his frustration when they are about to pick the wrong one very visibly so, he is usually not picked for a code master position.

Bruce could be really good if he stopped trying to use it to quiz them on protocol. He is asked to play the game in general bc of this.

Now together I feel like the preferred teams would be Dick Tim Jason and Damian Steph Duke (Bruce if he's there). Tim has an advantage guessing from Jason and sick bc he's a little stalker and Damian and Steph can go on the same wavelength. They switch up the teams a bit but usually not much.

And ofc Stephs team usually wins

Okay, okay... code names for the presidential family. I have a couple of ideas for themes, and historically code names within a family all start with the same letter, so... here we go:

To give Lena a career-appropriate codename:

Filibuster (after the career-making filibuster Lena gave that ultimately led to the successful women's rights bill-turned-law)

Featherweight (Jack's idea)

Falcon (Sam always said Ruby was as sharp as a hawk)

Letting Ruby pick hers first:

Dagger (perfunctory selection from the list of D names after Ruby selects her name)

Dynamo (also Jack's idea)

Diamond (only stone tougher than rubies)

Going for a greek mythology theme:

Hera (for obvious reasons, being a champion of womens and childrens causes)

Hermes (trickster)

Hecate (badass!!)

But honestly there's so many options. Ughhhhh I love this au so much and I've only just started.

Wait abyssal. u know how we were talking abt how the code for max for his security detail was like the crow (‘the crow has flown the nest’ (max has gone on his depression walk around the garden)) and we were wondering what pseudonym they would give gaul. Well if we go off the hc I made up in my head that she has a genetic mosaicism condition then she is a magpie bc colloquial terms for those conditions are derived from the bird name? And also magpies steal shiny things which I like in relation to her relationship with max hehehehehe I’m connecting the dots…..(I’ve made up the dots)

oooh! yeah! that could be really fun! if she's getting up to stuff with her fellow scientists/gamemakers, the security detail could also be like "head magpie has taken the mischief back to the [insert Citadel codename here]." <-@boabel shout out for telling us about mischief being the collective noun for a group of magpies.

Do you think Billy, Tommy, and Teddy should get new codenames at this point? I feel like they've outgrown theirs but I can't think of anything better. Especially since they already brought it up with Billy and tried to change his but nothing's stuck except for Wiccan.

I don't think there's anything wrong with "Speed." I think it suits Tommy, and I like that it's shorter and simpler than Quicksilver.

"Wiccan" is complicated, but I personally find those nuances really intriguing. There is a lot that can be gained from digging into the origins of Wicca, the word "wiccan" itself, and why, in the cultural landscape of the 2000s, it was being used interchangeably with "witch." A lot has been said by other folks about Billy's codename in relation to his Jewish identity, but I'm not the person to speak on that. I will say, however, that I like subverting expectations and stereotypes about witches and Romani people, in the hopes of bringing more authentic understanding to those characters. Usually, that means leaning into the problematic stuff, not dismissing it. So, I say we either keep "Wiccan," or bring in someone who really knows the history to write about that before you change it.

I do agree that Teddy could stand to drop the name "Hulkling," because it just isn't relevant to any part of his character or backstory. At the same time, though, you could argue that he's made it his own thing. Maybe to the people of the Kree-Skrull Alliance, "Emperor Hulkling" is a fancy title, kinda like Caesar. Still, I'd rather they just call him "Emperor Dorrek," "Dorrek VIII," or even "Dorrek-Vell." But, in his role as Emperor, I just don't think he needs a superhero name at all.

I just played Silver King for the first time and I love it sooooo much!!! its so fun with the banter and the reactions (meek MC ftw i love making them flustered at everything) and yeah. Ironically, i codenamed my MC Aletheia after the greek Goddess of truth, not realizing that the squad all also had greek names lmaooo. it would've been hilarious to see everyone's reactions to the random hacker also naming themselves after a greek god. thanks for all your work and good luck with writing the rest!
