Merry Christmas in April?!
I didn't mean to hold out on this special art and story I commissioned from @bumblingbabooshka back in December! Vorik and his wife, Starrah (RP'd by @fyr-rphub) -- and their new baby T'Vin!! -- are my favorite lower deckers of U.S.S. Voyager ♡
I don't want to mess with formatting so you can read the very adorable accompanying story shared here:
Plus bonus sketches. Oh Vorik you look so serious<33
#vorik#ensign vorik#voyager#star trek oc#star trek rp#fanfic#who doesn't love a christmas party#I am such a sucker for a christmas party#i am not immune to the idea of vorik in a santa hat!!!#also i highly recommend commissioning bumblingbabooshka!#you too can see your star trek OCs in that iconic bea art style... there are many possibilities#also it was a pretty collaborative process lots of questions etc#so that was just really fun to give myself reason to collect my thoughts on vorik and his family#of which i have many#(pays you to think about my oc)#but seriously if you need some joy in your life (star trek characters) go commission him#very fun and delightful would recommend

Creative Journey of Expecting Art | Inside a vibrant art studio, a creative soul finds inspiration in the unexpected. With eight months of pregnancy adding an intriguing twist to his artistry, this individual passionately brings a unique vision to life. Clad in overalls, he feels the comforting weight of his baby bump pressing against the easel as he paints a portrait that tells their shared story. The atmosphere buzzes with artistic energy while their hands brush together, momentarily coated in splashes of color. Each stroke on the canvas signifies not just the creation of art, but the boundless love and connection between them. The scene blends intimacy with innovation, showcasing how art can flourish amid life's most extraordinary journeys. It's a captivating exploration where creativity meets anticipation, allowing both love and talent to shine bright. More images are also available at https://mpregstuff.com.

A vital part of political knowledge (and knowledge in general) is knowing when to say, "I'm not educated enough to make a statement about this topic."
It's okay if you don't know every little detail of every single issue at hand. But it won't help if you refuse to acknowledge where you lack information, where your blindspots are, and what you just don't understand. It's okay to not have an answer.
#politics#saying you aren't educated about a topic isn't shameful; it's a sign that you have self-awareness of your knowledge#that's a GOOD thing#this is different than willfully refusing to just not learn anything about the world and even then... i don't know if it's right...#...to force people into having An Opinion#having An Opinion is step one. the knowledge gained about topics should lead to the formation of An Opinion#but if you force people to have An Opinion with no knowledge about what they have An Opinion about... that's when it gets alarming#it's okay to not know things. it's okay to not understand certain topics...#...you can let people who actually know whatever topic to lead those conversations...#...and it's likely that YOU have knowledge and opinions that others don't have the knowledge to comment upon#that's how the world kind of works; it ought to be a collaborative effort and a continuous process

The Plague Rose (Collaborative Zine)
This zine is focused on the traditional nursery rhyme "Ring a Ring o' Roses". It is an artistic reimagination of the Black Plague where the rhyme is rumoured to originate from.
The zine features an intense black and red colour palette, a design choice that came later on in the process. The red represents the roses and poppies of the rhyme, but is more often associated with blood. The black quite literally represents the "Black" Plague, but is also often associated with mystery.

honestly every time we’ve read the “rules” for a “closed species” it just comes across as the most egotistical “you’re not playing my game right” like childhood sandbox shit. you’re not allowed to give it a tail this length or ears like this and you can’t refer to it in these ways or change it in ways not approved by me and that side of the sandbox is for the ELVES and this side is for the FAIRIES and NO you can’t play here if you wanna be a elf-fairy this is MY sandbox you have to play MY way and also if you want to play here you have to give me 500 dollars and if you don’t and i find out you have elves and fairies in your sandbox i will get all my friends to blacklist you and harass you off the internet
#sorry we found another furry community that we were vaguely interested in participating in then found they actively pushed this shit#closed species hater since day one 💪 mind numbingly stupid concept.#what if we took independent art and instead of having it be a collaborative process you had to buy licenses for an idea. okay.#the petit bourgeois mindset of the artist is a rot. artists need to be oppressed fr fr 🙏

downloaded the five calls app just now. for those who don't know what that is, its an app that lists current bills being discussed in congress, provides phone numbers for each congress person representing you/your area, and a script for what to say once you're on the phone.
im nervous about calling people, so i will probably make a phone call after hours to ensure i don't need to speak to a human.
#i was a bit skeptical of the app at first#just because its some random app that gives you a script of what to say to your representatives#how do you know they have your best interests in mind...?#5 calls is a volunteer-run app though#and they show the organizations they collaborate with to create these scripts or bring awareness to these bills#which the users can vet themselves if they like#but that is the difficult part - the vetting and the learning#in any case i don't think that process can be made any more convenient#the learning part i mean#so i might as well do my phone calls and wait for experience to fill in the gaps#us politics#politics#bags personal postings

Extremely distressing that I absolutely cannot react to this work email with “I’m going to kill my self for real” because that’s the only way I can think to express myself to my coworkers who also got it
#it’s from people we’re ……. collaborating…. with. and they are acting difficult as if they’ve never heard of this kind of formal paperwork#but I barely know what I’m doing with this situation and they’re asking DIFFICULT questions of us I now have to process#unfortunately it is a very professional environment AND I am much younger and more online than my coworkers

Zero Day (2002)
#movies film cinema#zero day#ben coccio#I actually talked to the director on Facebook super nice guy and he told#me a lot about the filmmaking process and even helped me with tips on directing non-actors and new actors#I remember him telling me to always be supportive and tell your new actors they're doing a good job even if they aren't in the first take#cause you can instill confidence and still reshape and change their choices and mistakes later#Sometimes I'd message him for advice when I was running into problems on some of my early projects#he told me once ''did ya choose to collaborate with this actor cause you were lonely or you guys had passion and chemistry''#“collaborating is like a relationship” and he was so right#there's nothing worse than working with people you disdain cause there's no communication and no trust.#he told me how he wrote the first couple of drafts of Place Beyond the Pines but his take on the 3rd act wasn't clicking for the director#so he took the script and went and had another writer rewrite the 3rd act but he liked the process cause he learned a lot and still got pai#but I'd still like to see Ben Coccio's take on Place Beyond The Pines he says the 1st and 2nd act are mostly unchanged#Ryan Gosling's scenes are still mostly the same he said but he couldn't tell me too much cause of the NDA he signed#The bloopers of Zero Day are hilarious his tip he gave me about being supportive#“This is actually great but can we-” and Cal interrupts him “He says that no matter what if you're doing good or bad!” and everyone lols#I hope I can make it and ask him to collab with me on a script#He's such a nice dude compared to the harrowing film he made.#I wish there was BTS but he had only one tape to film on and this was made when digital camcorders were infants#I think he had only one 2 hour tape that's how low budget#The bloopers is just Cal or Andre secretly filming and Ben getting annoyed “Is it recording?” and Cal going “Nah..."#Cal is such a funny guy IRL I wanna see him act more cause he's so good. He was so great at playing a sadistic psychopath in this.#the final shooting is so harrowing and disturbing#I told Ben he srsly gut punched me/disturbed me and this is what made him really open up.

I have a question if you guys are okay answering! How do your individual styles differ? Like, do you both prefer to write/draw in different styles, and have there ever been any creative disagreements?
Totally fine to ask! We both have the same style with different very subtle nuances most people won't be able to detect. I'd compare it to two different animation studios hired to work on the same tv show. We aim to look like one consistent style and we're pretty successful with getting that across I think!
The biggest difference between our art styles is something most people won't ever get to see, and it's that Cin sketches very lightly (to the point of having to duplicate the sketch layer multiple times before it becomes legible) and Jes sketches like you're trying to murder the paper with a pencil.
For writing, our voices are pretty similar honestly! I don't think anyone here has noticed whenever a comic is written by one twin or is a chimera-style mix of both of us collaborating. While we can disagree, we both want to make the best story possible so we either compromise or explain how taking a story a certain direction is for the best. And then we agree lol
#askjesncin#the de-mystification of the twinchronized art process#I don't mind getting asked how our twin art process works because I'm sure it's puzzling to folks seeing us collaborate so intensely#we've become a well oiled machine by now

Uni AU where professor Price teaches this weird niche elective something 141
There are four people in the roster of this class, (one of them is always absent to the point they’re not entirely sure if he’s in this class) cough Roach cough
But after a while people who aren’t even in the class start showing up because of the stories told about this weird elective and the students in it. I could elaborate, but first, I need to know, what is the elective 👁️
The sequel to this idea will be called whatever we choose 142.
The third level of this elective? 241.
Yes the entire basis of this AU was was just the fact that 141 sounds like a uni class number.

Have you ever written any collaborative fanfic with another author? I think you'd be incredibly fun to work with!
I have indeed, though right now it's mostly just bits and pieces of an AU. Me and @bubblesthemonsterartist both write this Concubine AU series, which was originally inspired by @onedivinemisfit 's artwork. Though half the time I feel like that's cheating because part of both mine and Joanna's writing process is "yell in DMs at each other until it's kinda like an outline" and then go off and write. Only this time we wrote different parts of the same thing instead of different things entirely 🤣I did something similar with both the Obi-Works-For-Izana AU with @krispy-kream, and then also the Shirayuki Sedai AU with both Sharon and @claudeng80.
Otherwise I don't think I've done a typical author collaboration-- An Economy of Suffering was just a happy accident, where I wrote something that haunted Joanna so much she had to write a fic, and then those haunted @another-miracle so much SHE had to write her OWN fic, and then we put them all together on AO3.
#asks#my process is often collaborative! I often have fics that were like#big conversations we had on the obiyuki server that I then organize and write#the Colorbind Au was one of them. Daemon AU too#I take screen shots for my notes so that I can give credit where credit is due for ideas and lines#at this point joanna and I have such similar sense of humor sometimes I can't remember who said what#and it's the ONLY record of who came up with something#we also did have one extremely traditional collaboration piece that is unfortunately cursed#and can never be written#not because of subject matter but because every time we work on it one of us nearly dies#maybe one day. i choose to believe it's the cosmos telling us it isn't time#joanna's opinion is that it is fully cursed and I can touch it at peril to my life if i like#but she's good 🤣
