i have no supporting proof (yet) but absolutely yes 😌 I'm trying to be sooooo normal about lockwoor & co rn i.e. staying off the tumblr tag to avoid spoilers, BUT i am having the time of my life reading it. I'm trying to spread out the books a little because i don't want it to end :')

I've already drawn some biblical parallels, but what i am 🤏🏻 to doing is drawing parallels between lockwood & co and a tale of two cities........ the whole premise of recalling to life....... the implications...........

but if i start down that rabbit hole there is no going back. so i must Refrain. for now.

3. Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year? Definitely Sleep Token. I'd been hearing metal fans in a couple of communities raving about them for months, but never bothered checking them out. And then a few weeks before their new album came out, I was driving home from Canberra with my sister and she was playing music, and she put Chokehold on. That was definitely a big hit for me. I ended up checking out all of their music, and although there was a lot of stuff that I didn't like, the stuff that hit was incredible. The way they subtly mix in elements of hip-hop in to their music fascinates me, but really I just love the way they build up to the heavy stuff, and I love how the heavy stuff sounds.

14. Favorite book you read this year? Unfortunately I've lost basically all interest in reading over the last few years. There's a ton of books I really wanted to get in to, but actually reading had become so boring, and I don't have the time for audio books either. I'm at a point now where I'm planning to sell off my book collection, basically everything except for the Inheritance Cycle (because those books are very dear to me, and if I ever have kids that become interested in reading, maybe they'll be interested). I've got them all boxed up already, I just need to knuckle down, get photos of them all, and put up a post on Facebook marketplace.

22. Favorite place you visited this year? I haven't really done much travelling this year. Just a bunch of trips to Canberra, and all for generally the same things (seeing movies, buying/playing Warhammer, etc.). I did buy my new car in Canberra though, so maybe that counts.

YOURS ARE ALL-TIME GREATS 💕 my favorite favorite kind of feedback is the kind that makes me scroll up and re-read going "really?" and seeing my own fic through the eyes of someone who didn't spend a billion hours staring at it. and any comment that starts with "this makes me think about..." creates an opportunity for a fun yes-and kind of back and forth in the comment threads. (i'm not saying this just because you're especially good at it, but you are.)

i also really appreciate the copy-a-favorite-line comments. seeing my own words in italics in a comment box makes me feel like i won a prize, i'm not sure why. like someone stuck a blue ribbon on a sentence.

You, @lumiereandcogsworth and @dangerously-human all asked about this one, and I'm going to answer all of you at once, because there honestly isn't much to tell; this one's really fighting me!

Basically, the concept is: Topher calls himself Adelle's favorite son in front of her, Dominic expects her to Not Put Up With It, and she does put up to it, leading to Dominic being Very Grumpy for awhile.

Not 100% sure if this is heading toward a reluctant bonding storyline where Topher and Dominic are forced to get along for a little while or more of an Adelle/Laurence fic that gets Angsty about him not liking the interaction. (Because the closer she lets people, the more she trusts them, the more easily they can betray her, he points out, and she tells him that's what she has him for: to not trust people for her.)

Either way, have a snippet:

“Who’s your favorite son?” Topher asks DeWitt, grinning ear to ear, and Laurence braces himself. She’ll give him an earful for that one, definitely, and he’s-quite frankly-going to enjoy watching the show. Absolutely no one talks to Adelle DeWitt like-

Abelia ⇢ do you have a particular piece of jewelry you always wear or can’t part with?

My siblings gifted me a tiny, golden pinecone necklace for Christmas back when I was taking Biology I and I wouldn’t shut up about the class. It was really touching to me that they were listening and got me it. It’s also very cute and dainty lol.

camellia ⇢ what were you like when you were younger? do you think you’ve changed a lot?

I know this one because my dad still talks about me like I was 4 just yesterday lol. Apparently when he would take me to anywhere that had a play place, I would run around and gather all the kids from the tables to play together and then direct them when it was safe to go down the slide or up the steps, etc. My dad said it was like watching a conductor. My parents said I was apparently too friendly and they were afraid I’d get kidnapped. When I got a little older, my family ended up a little more isolated, so I spent a lot of time in my room reading, but still was pretty friendly with people. Also tried to act a lot more like the boys did since there were not a lot of girls around so got used to grosser stuff, too, lol.

I don’t try to take a leadership role or read much anymore, sadly, but I still love people.

Downburst: Do you love surprises or hate them? Absolutely love, it fills my heart with joy when someone puts thought into surprising me lol. Also back when i had a ton of anxiety, i'd much rather be told of plans like the hour before rather than having to think about it for days.

Lightning Strike: What are some of your most positive traits? I hopefully exhibit a lot of compassion towards people, and am calm under pressure. People tell me I smile a lot and have a warm presence too. Fire Whirl: Do you enjoy dancing? I'm absolutely atrocious at it lol, but if i have someone to dance with, yeah!

why is religious Christmas imagery all so joyful and pleasant? where is the inherent horror of the birth of Christ? A mother is handed her newborn child, wailing and innocent. Her hands come away sticky. Red. Simply by giving her son life she has already killed him. He is doomed from the beginning. Her love will not save him from suffering. Because the thing cradled in her arms is not a baby, it is a sacrifice: born amongst the other bleating animals whose blood will one day be spilled in the name of what demands it. the night is silent with anticipation. 👀 Girl I want to know something about all of those Dollhouse WIPs!! If I must choose a few: Adelle Shatters, Amnesia Topher, Favorite Son (Grumpy), Paul/Adelle Married, Lineage

Adelle Shatters (Set during the timeline laid out in 1x13, Adelle manages to keep it together as the world falls apart, until she doesn't. And it's the smallest thing that sets her off. Basically just an excuse to write Paul comforting Adelle, though it's probably strictly platonic in this fic.)

Someone else has been drinking her tea, she realizes, something twisting in her gut. All this time she’s been savoring them, dragging out each taste because she knows that all too soon she’ll be out completely, and someone’s gone through the last three as though they were nothing.

She’s unrecognizable as the ice cold woman she’d once pretended to be (an act, he thinks, and it feels like a revelation though he’s known it for years now; it was always an act). 

Motherhood would have suited her, he thinks. It’s too bad she never got the chance.

Paul/Adelle Married (Basic Concept: They told us Paul had an ex-wife and told us nothing about her. Canon is my sandbox and I make the rules. Adelle and Paul meet when he's fresh out of Quantico and she's still working in stem cell research. When she starts at the Dollhouse, she keeps it a secret; when he starts investigating the Dollhouse, he doesn't. Eventually the secrets tear them apart... Until the case brings them back together. Meant to be canon compliant, if only on shoestring technicalities.)

Caroline doesn’t make the case personal for him. It’s a reasonable assumption, and he doesn’t deny it; the last thing he wants to do is get into what truly happened. Besides, it’s not like she doesn’t matter. Caroline changed his world, turned his fight from one of vengeance to one of hope. He wants to save her, wants to save all of them, wants to bring them back to the people who love them. 

But his quest has been personal for a very, very long time.

Lineage (In which Dollhouse, Sanctuary, and Alice Syfy are all set in the same universe. Adelle is Patricia Magnus, and Alice is Henry and Erika's Alice. Part time travel, part fix it, part family feels, and part Paul/Adelle romance if I don't decide to go Adelle/Laurence with it.)

“We’re going to be here awhile,” Paul says, settling back against the wall. “You might as well try to get some sleep. I’ll keep watch.”

“Right, sure.” Topher’s eyeroll is audible. “I’ll just go to sleep in the dark, creepy room.” His grip on her hand tightens. “Not like anything could sneak up on me and grab me or anything. No thanks; I’m just going to stay right here, and… Stare at nothing. And try not to feel like the room is full of terrifying monsters that-”

Oh, for goodness’ sake. Patricia gave up motherhood long ago, but now there is Topher, and she isn’t quite sure how he managed to slip into that hole, but he’s there, and there’s only one response she can give. “Lie down.” She tugs his hand, and with effort, guides him to lay with his head on her legs. He goes slowly, uncertain.

Families, if a house has lots of cute, rambunctious and friendly children running around I'm almost immediately at ease. That or houses that have lots of animals.

🧭 - what Talent would you have (or would you have any?)

Maybe listening. I'm very emotional like Lucy and I think listening is a more emotional gift. But maybe that's just because of her personality and not the gift. Probably nothing though, i'm not naturally very good at anything.
