Designs for fantasy AU so far! Little chibi mockups to make it easier on myself, maybe now i'll draw more characters beyond the afomight portion lol

All Might is an elf (maybe a half-elf the other half is not human thats for sure), he's Paladin General of the kingdom and Enji's second in command. AfO is an elder dragon, millenia old. Hawks is a gryphon, works in the shadows as Enji's second hand and bodyguard.

Aizawa is a dark elf and Toshi's shadow and body-guard as well (went through the same training as Hawks). Both get their hands dirty for their superiors. Enji is King, he's an elf with dragon blood (sign of power and nobility), and Touya is his son ofc & inherited more power.

I have yet to watch Dungeon Meshi but I plan to and I am going to experience whiplash if the characters don't sound how I've imagined

I think the autistic human dude sounds like the main character of bnha but with a deeper voice

The lesbian elf lady who likes dark magic sounds like Katara from atla or princess bubblegum from adventure time

Chilchuck sounds like Timmy Turner but when he's human he sounds like Aizawa from bnha

The hot dwarf sounds like the dwarf from the frodo movie or Soos from Gravity Falls (again with a deeper voice tho)

The cat girl sounds like Catra from she-ra because my brain is super original

Falin sounds like an anime mom

Those are my predictions and I have a feeling when I actually hear Chilchucks voice I'm going to shut myself I just know I am not imaging his voice right lmao

Random ask, if you sort your top fav characters from BNHA & JJK to Hogwarts houses, which houses will they be (in your opinion)? Why?

I spent an embarrassing amount of time looking for the artist I bought my "Dobby is a Free Elf, F*** TERFS" sticker from (still couldn't find them 😭). Before I jump in, just taking the time to remind readers that we can maintain a connection to media we grew up with but refrain from putting more money in the hands of a creator who actively preaches against and promotes messages that impede upon the freedoms and lives of our trans frans. 🏴‍☠️⚡️

I'll use the lineups from these last asks (because I flip flop, I just love so many of them, okay??).

MHA

Katsuki Bakugo - Slytherin. Slytherin like Draco Malfoy in the sense that he's outwardly and overly confident. But his predisposition for "darkness" scares and frustrates him because he just wants the same recognition of being a good wizard that Izuku gets.

Izuku Midoriya - Gryffindor with Ravenclaw underpinnings. Gryffindor is the one house where anyone can belong if you're only brave enough to ask and he'd totally make a scene muttering to himself under the sorting hat.

Shouta Aizawa - Ooof. This is hard because he has the outward disposition of Snape as a teacher but Aizawa is so soft at heart and incredibly logical. Of the Three Dumbigos, he would be in Ravenclaw. Bonus: Oboro would have been in Gryffindor and Yamada would have been in Hufflepuff.

Shoto Todoroki - Legacy Slytherin but sorted into Gryffindor much to Endeavor's chagrin (and likely to spite him).

Eijirou Kirishima - this is a hufflepuff. ✨

JJK

Nobara Kugisaki - This one was legitimately a head scratcher. She has her Hufflepuff moments from being so in sync with Yuji but I think Nobara's more Ravenclaw or Gryffindor leaning. Especially with that ego. Actually, yea, let's be for real, Nobara would want to be in the place where she can kick the most ass and not from an academic perspective. Gryffindor with Ravenclaw underpinnings though I'm open to hearing other people's takes on her situation.

Yuji Itadori - If he'd had any insight into the houses, any idea that there were such a thing as Gryffindor whose bravery was renowned, he probably would have had the sense of mind to end up there. But buddy boy was just so happy to be included having zero connection to the wizarding world that he rejoiced at his sorting in Hufflepuff. He's well received in their ranks and, of course, is not a stranger to students in other houses. I'm not saying the Sorting Hat didn't see obvious potential, though. If only he'd persisted to ask.

Megumi Fushiguro - Unbeknownst to him, the Zenin's are a legacy Slytherin family. He'd always heard the way Gojo had spoken about Slytherins and was annoyed at the possibility of ending up there (more than how much Gojo annoyed him) so, instead, the Sorting Hat saw fit to put him into Gryffindor after his imperceptible begging.

Kento Nanami - This man is a bored Ravenclaw. He gets through school, aces his OWLs and NEWTs and then becomes something boring in the muggle world because, while magic makes things convenient, the shenanigans and idiocy of his peers and upperclassmen encouraged the pursuit of a life of solitude to recover from the hijinks he suffered while in high school. He'd come back for the Battle of Hogwarts, though. That's a call he wouldn't be able to ignore.

Satoru Gojo - He thought himself smart enough to be in Ravenclaw 👀 but was ultimately damned by his legacy Slytherin family lineage. Dismayed by the Sorting Hat's deliberation, he felt there was more glory to be had in Gryffindor and changed the tide of the Gojo family with this subsequent desire. He had the time of his life. Never told Megumi about how long the Sorting Hat deliberated though... likely forgot, in fact, because once he belonged in Gryffindor, nothing else felt right. Bonus: Shoko was in Gryffindor as the actual Ravenclaw of the trio. Geto was in Gryffindor with Hufflepuff underpinnings. The hubris he developed by this association would still be his undoing and leave him vulnerable to manipulation.

but listen anon you are SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE so i'm gonna break it down for you okay here we go

now. i am going to talk about the ocs i'm mostly using for bg3 because theyre the guys im talking about most these days and most of my other ones are specific to other kinds of content. THAT SAID, i have two(2) ocs who are FOR hero/villains settings, and they are:

Jury, indie villain-turned-hero. she utilizes photokinesis and limited flight as a front-line fighter - she'll use her light to form wings and a hammer to burn and blind her opponents and create openings for her teammates. she's pretty independent at this point but i originally made her for bnha, and yes she gets to kiss aizawa there.

Vindicator, my main Sidestep for Fallen Hero. He's most often a version of Jesse O'Shea, who is my self-insert oc that i use in pretty much any IP. His build focuses on subtle manipulations over strength of mind, arrogant/ruthless/daring, and his main situationship is Ortega, but sometimes Herald. please play fallen hero it makes me insane

ALRIGHT now that they have been mentioned - the dnd/bg3 crew :3

i imagine this is going to have to be a sort of avengers / justice league situation, with a sort of suicide squad / league of villains thing happening on the other side. so, with that in mind:

reaper is The villain. i haven't talked about him here much, but he was my original Bhaalist oc from like four years ago, before i even knew baldur's gate was a thing. he's a death cleric, commits murder as an act of worship, and in my homebrew world, is one of five members of a cult dedicated to an undead chaos goddess. so in this AU, i imagine he's one of the leaders of whatever Bad Guy team exists here, in charge of getting the band together and whatnot

rumari is also a villain. they grew up as an assassin, which translates well to this AU - raised as a blade, to be wielded by whosoever is in charge at the time. depending on who they end up around, they might be reformable - but most likely not. i imagine they're the sort of loki-type, the one that the heroes capture and banter with, the one they lock in the glass box, but they always escape to cause more problems<3

leorin and kaz are the villain lackeys. they're part of the evil elf squad with rumari, and theyre the ones to match up with the heroes in the big end battle. leorin is a dark magician type, corruption and fire and whatnot, and kaz has a big fuck off sword and heavy armor - he's the tank. they don't get as much screen time as the others, but they're usually in the frame together, and banter a lot, so all the edgy teens ship them

kaine is the wild card. they're introduced late in the series or one of the sequel films, and it's a will-they-won't-they thing - they're a free agent, and they're easily swayed by power and promises of freedom, so there's probably a long arc of them working alongside the villains. most of the heroes want to take them out bcz of how big of a threat they are, but theres one or two (gale? wyll?) heroes who Believe In Them.

max is the face of the hero squad. i mean, he's The Butterfly Knight - he does the tv appearances, the sponsorships, the press releases, all of it. and he loves it! and he's not Just a face - he has the power to back it up, but his powers are really more showmanship than anything.

if max is the face of the group, etienne is the backbone of the operation. he's not a leader, but he's a guide, and he's adept at strategy and keeping his team safe. he willingly allows himself to fade into the background - which is also an advantage, as it allows him to absorb much more information than he would without max as a shield.

kit is the old guard. he never wanted to be a hero, and still doesn't. he was caught in the middle of one high-publicity incident when he was in his 20s, and got a lot of attention from it, but never became a hero, and did his best to fade into history. but when the threats begin to resurface, the new generation digs him up, and due to his situations and his mindset, he finds himself taking on an advisory role. he's the one that you Know the villains don't wanna fuck with - and he gets an arc that really shows the extent of his abilities, where he has to keep everyone else alive after a grave miscalculation of some sort, and it's like, oh, he's the one to watch out for.

honorable mention:

the warhawk is the free agent. he's a vigilante, and most of the time, the heroes clash with him because of his disregard for the law. the only law he follows is the law of the land, and he lets people know that, but when they really need him, he's there<3

Eri Aizawa: Hogwarts Au

Eri Aizawa is a pureblood witch that was born on the 21st of December 1988 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 2000, being sorted into Gryffindor house.

After her father passed away after falling down the stairs while tending to her, her mother blamed her and abandoned her at her grandfather's place.

Due to her grandfather having dementia and being in the hospital, she was raised by her foster father Kai Chisaki who was heavily abusive towards her and treated her more like an house-elf than his daughter.

After he was arrested for his actions as a Death Eater, she was instead adopted by Shota Aizawa who raised her together with his eventual wife Emi with Eri eventually getting a little brother from it.

After graduating from Hogwarts, she became a healer and was married to Kota shortly with them even having a daughter together but because of his Obscurial status, she became a widow in her early thirties.

She has a hawthorn wand with a unicorn hair core.

Her Patronus is a unicorn.

Her favorite subjects are Transfiguration and Care of Magical Creatures.

Her least favorite subjects are Defense Against the Dark Arts and History of Magic.

 The young warrior, moving slower due to his injuries, nonetheless took three steps to put himself in-between his companion and their fearsome opponent. Sneering, the elf warlock lifted a hand, dark energies swirling over her palm as an unknown spell began to form.

“So, you can brace for impact for whatever’s coming,” Yamada explained, leaning over the table to prod at Tenko’s character sheet. “Or you could try to dodge, but that kinda defeats the purpose of getting in-between the warlock and Tamachi-kun. And attacking’s out, since you’re too far to reach the baddie in one turn.”

Tenko frowned, glancing at the list of abilities his character still retained. “...I’ve got a Divine Call left. I can use that, right?”

“Sure! Which of the wolfen gods do you want to appeal to?”

“Uh...” Another check of his character’s racial attributes led Tenko to squinting at the two options. “Calu’s the warrior, but Wol is the weaver - he made the world's first armor, so I should get a better Defense Bonus from calling on him, right?”

“Yep! Alright, Divine Call means we need a d4; that’s the pyramid-shaped one, Izuku-chan.”

“Here it is!” Tenko accepted the offered die from his beaming baby cousin, who went back to doodling on his own papers. One roll later presented him with the number 3.

“Aaalrighty, let’s see here! Lord Wol has heard your call for assistance, and decided to offer his favor! A beam of light descends from the blue moon overhead, expanding to cover you and your companion both in a shimmering orb that extends for two steps in all directions. Your turn, Tamachi-kun!”

“Well, it’s not like I can do much from behind Tenko,” Kansatsu muttered dryly, slowly dragging a finger down her character sheet. She’d used up more spell slots than Tenko, whose warrior character had the good old fashioned fallback of ‘whack the bad guy with a sword’. They’d started out facing two warlocks and three dark orcs, four of whom were down for the count, but her human wizard was low on health, with Tenko’s wolfen not much better. “Wait. I’ve still got that gift from that trickster we helped. Can I use it?”

“Sure! One boon from the Mysterious Trickster reeequires a d6!”

“Ooh, bigger die,” Tenko commented, as Hitoshi scrambled to find the right game piece for his sister. When it rolled and landed, Kansatsu got the highest point value, and Yamada cackled.

“You untie the drawstring pouch and toss it into the air, sending a cloud of glittering silver sparks across the forest clearing,” he announced. “After hovering for a few seconds, the cloud gathers and condenses, and high-pitched laughter rings out from the center mass.”

“Uh-oh,” both ten year olds muttered. Slumped in a seat at the end of their table, Aizawa snorted.

Been working on my game Wolfen and Warlocks lately, which always makes me think of this scene from my story Double Act, the first place I ever wrote out what the game might look like. And, well, since I’m getting back into a MHA phase too, thought I’d post this snippet for posterity. Re-reading the comments on this particular chapter always brings a grin to my face xD

Since the sixty members of the current teams have been announced, I will write the brief summary for the teams. I will do this again, once they receive their landmarks.

Team 1 - Shirayuki Reid / Hoshikawa Sara / Aruse Inu

Shibuya Hal’s bias is clearly shown as the team consists of Hal’s best friend, Hal’s Not Girlfriend, and one of best NeoPorte members with a point discount. Certainly a capable team, but as Hal himself comments, there are other strong teams on this tourney.

Team 2 - Nekota Tsuna / Tokoyami Towa / Yakumo Beni

Kind of expected, a return of the dynamic duo that is Tsuna and Towa with Beni on two. First of four teams where two strong members are accompanied by a Valorant leaning player. The trick is to make sure that the third person actually gets good and doesn't mess up.

Team 3 - Honma Himawari / Shiina Yuika / Utai Meika

The Kansai Team. Meika is gonna have to carry the team, because the other two are the closest to Hololive Gamers as Nijisanji Gamers gets, if you know what I mean. 

Team 4 - Hanabusa Lisa / Fura Kanato / Makaino Ririmu

The hinge is going to be Ririmu here. Going to be a fun team to watch with the combined energy of Lisa and Kanato juxtaposed with Rirmu’s quiet but improving soul.

Team 5 - Ichinose Uruha / Komori Met / Ibrahim

As Hal himself puts it, a really well-balanced team. With a good placement, they could probably place in the podium. And the banter between the three will be fantastic as well.

Team 6 - Virtual Gorilla / Yozuna Niu / Kaga Nazuna

Gorilla has much less of a struggle here, considering he has much more capable teammates this time around. Of course, who knows where Nazuna will pop off, but yeah.

Team 7 - Astel Leda / Asumi Sena / Ars Almal

Astel the troublemaker is back again, free from his self-imposed restraints, but the big problem for them is if Marumaru can keep up with the pace of the tournament.

Team 8 - Shishigami Leona / Inui Shinichiro / Hira Hikari

Off the beaten path, but I’m well versed in these parts, so the team itself is going to do fine. Didn’t know that Hikari was good at APEX though, although I heard after the announcement. These three are very good - Leona and Hikari are good at singing as well.

Team 9 - Pakael / Rikkaroid / Kuga Leo

An interesting mix. Rikkaroid is about halfway between a surefire win and a disaster. Kuga Leo getting measly 4 pt even though he teaches Valorant is one of the largest scams here.

Team 10 - Tachibana Hinano / Watanari Hibari / Uzuki Kou

This team basically is the leftover kind of cobble together. Apparently Inu (the NeoPorte guy) put Hibari on this team at his insistence. Well, it’s not going to be a mess, they are all capable.

Team 11 - Kurumi Noah / Higuchi Kaede / Tosaki Mimi

Another pretty solid lineup. Noah is the best that 9pt can give you, Deron always seems to pop off during opportune moments, and Mimi is a dependable member as well.

Team 12 - Shinomiya Runa / Kaminari Qpi / Hizaki Gamma

A surprising third, not that I mind. UPROAR is fantastic, although I think Gamma is the best out of the four (maybe except Uyu?). Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see the interaction here.

Team 13 - Natsuiro Matsuri / Elu the Elf / Aizawa Ema

The self-proclaimed Seiso team. Another well balanced team. Matsuri shines her best during tournaments due to her fantastic observation skills and Elu grinds APEX every afternoon.

Team 14 - Axel Syrios / Selen Tatsuki / Regis Altare

Selen was almost barred due to her past, but she deservingly received that 10 points. An all-English team, meaning ping is going to be terrible, but they are used to the disadvantage and their skills are absolutely enough to overcome that disadvantage. Will win a scrim or two.

Team 15 - Kaga Sumire / Yuki Chihiro / La+ Darknesss

Another two strong and a Valo player build. Sumire has put herself in very dark waters as she has put two of the best known kusogaki together in a high-stake competition.

Team 16 - Kanae / Lauren Iroas / Yuuhi Riri

All the players need one extra point. Absolute one of the stronger teams, all Nijisanji, all very much capable, long time competitors and so on. A team to watch, for sure.

Team 17 - Ha Yun / Yang Nari / Hijirime Laeria

Two NijiKR and Laeria, which is a surprising but a good choice. Definitely gets into the spirit of new but well-welcomed players here. Let’s see Nari can conquer World’s Edge as well.

Team 18 - Yukishiro Mahiro / Seto Miyako / And Uge

Kind of an aunt club, honestly. Not that they aren’t terrible players, Miyako has been playing APEX since the start and Uge is known to shine… and Mahimahi is the leader.

Team 19 - Ratna Petit / Naraka / Naruse Naru

Putechi’s team feels like your most prototypical VSaikyo team, if I were to be honest. Obviously three pretty strong players, if the mental doesn’t break, definitely could place at podium.

Team 20 - Kuzuha / Ex Albio / Fuwa Minato

Return of the AQF from Season 2. Looking at Fuwa’s previous team, I’m a bit worried at Ebio is going to leave the company soon, but whatever… let’s see if they can get serious.

10 Years Ago

Hitoshi Shinsou pulls nervously at his shirt, stretching out the flimsy cotton as her searches the boundless forest for any sign of your return. Shinsou, being one year older than you, feels as though you’re his responsibility. He can’t be taking you home with dirt-clod shoes and scrapes on your knees but you had insisted on returning to the forest. After spending too much time in there, Shinsou had gotten nervous and challenged you to a race back home, but it had been nearly ten minutes since he’d gotten out of the forest and you hadn’t shown your face.

Shinsou knows he’s faster than you. He shouldn’t have challenged you to a race. He should be keeping his eye on you at all times. Where are you?

After deciding that he needs to start looking for you himself, before going home to your parents and worrying your mother, Shinsou nears the edge of the forest. All he hears is you. Giggling.

Shinsou passes one of the many twisted trees and calls for your name. The giggling stops. He spots you holding your white dress up as you dip yourself into an over dramatic curtsy.

“Y/N!” He calls again, “I beat you in the race! It’s time to go home now.”

“It was very nice to meet you. I’ll visit you again someday soon,” you say to someone you can’t see. “Yes, of course I promise!”

You giggle again and Shinsou’s eyes narrow. “Y/N!”

You turn to him, flashing the big smile that Shinsou adores. You make your merry way over to him and laugh when you jump into a huge pile of mud.

“Look at you. You’re all dirty!” Shinsou scolds though he’ll never admit that he finds your attitude very charming. “You’re mother’s gonna lash me for this!”

You hum back at him, paying no mind to his ridicule. Shinsou walks behind you as you both exit the forest, eyeing the trees that almost seem to be watching the both of you.

When you both come to the clearing, you twirl around in the grass, allowing your dress to flutter around you. Shinsou blushes.

“Ohh ‘Toshi, I’ve had the best day!” You sing, letting the sun rays dance off your skin. “I just love that forest so much!”

“Who were you talking to just before I found you?” Shinsou asks, taking a moment to peel his eyes away from you and glance back at the forest. His body gives an involuntary shiver.

“It’s a secret!” You laugh, spreading your arms out to catch the newfound warmth.

“I’m sure your parents taught you not to talk to strangers!”

“He’s not a stranger, ‘Toshi. At least, he’s no stranger than you. He’s incredible! He showed me how to talk to the birds, how he can make flowers bloom, and he can-! Well… it is a secret!”

Shinsou shoots you a doubtful look. “Whoever he was, he couldn’t have done all of that in such a short amount of time…” Shinsou can feel a prick of jealousy poking at his heart; moreover, his cheeks flush at his own pointed agitation with himself. He should not have left your side.

Shinsou’s brows furrow. You must’ve gone mad. That, or you’re just trying to get on Shinsou’s nerves because you were upset about losing the race. You made up an imaginary man so you could make Shinsou feel bad about not seeing him! You always told lies like that anyways but Shinsou knows of the perfect way to get you back.

“You can’t marry him,” Shinsou smirks, “because while you were gone, a blue fairy appeared to me and she told me that I’m to marry you just so I can make sure you stay out of mischief!”

Your lips form a tight line. Your eyes search his. He’s piqued your interest. “Did she really, Hitoshi?”

“She did! I swear it!”

You take a moment to consider the situation before laughing to yourself. “Two proposals in one day! My, I must be reeeaaally pretty!”

Shinsou scowls at you. Sure, you’re pretty but you knowing you are makes him flustered. “You’re not so pretty when you’re covered in filth. You’re lucky I don’t dunk you into the river before returning you home!”

You mouth falls open. “That’s no way to treat your future wife!” You cry.

“Whaddya think I’ll do with you when you look like that?” Shinsou chuckles, knowing that he’s won you over.

Your eyes grow wistful as you briefly peek back at the forest. Maybe he hadn’t won you over.

“Hey,” Shinsou whispers. “Hey, I didn’t mean it. Even with all that dirt you still look…” he searches for the word to perfectly describe exactly how you looked… or how he feels about you. But you were too young and too dumb to hear his exact feelings without it going to your head. “Don’t be upset with me, Y/N.”

“It’s not that,” you let out a shaky breath. “My scarf… I left it somewhere… on a rock I think...” you make a move back to the trees but Shinsou grabs your hand.

“Forget about it,” is his immediate reply.

“I can’t forget about it; it’s my favorite!”

“You say that about everything you own!”

“Hitoshi!” You whine.

Shinsou looks back to forest. On the outside it looks like nothing more than thick greenery, a peaceful place where it might be nice for idle strolls. But on the inside it was dark, like a bottomless pit waiting to snatch up anyone who strays away from its already twisted path. It’s a dangerous place and Shinsou knows that but he can never resist going in there with you after you pester him for long enough. However, there are reasons why neither of you tell your parents about your short excursions. Even though Shinsou doesn’t entirely believe you’ve met a man who can make flowers bloom, there’s no way he’s letting you go back in there.

“I’ll get it.”

Shinsou resists the urge to grin at your shining, gleeful eyes. He’ll let you see him as your stoic hero forever.

You watch him go back into the woods. It takes awhile but when he returns, his eyes are tired and all the color drained from his face. He tosses the scarf over your shoulder and grabs your wrist, dragging you back to your home. He tells you you’re never going back into that forest. “And you’re not marrying any man in the woods. You’re going to marry me.”

Shinsou is different to you from that day forward.

The Present

You stretch your arms above your head and take in the floral aroma wafting around the forest. It’s springtime and the flowers are in full bloom! How lovely!

You turn to your husband, you both are laying in the bed he made for you and you find yourself overwhelmed with bliss. Spider silk sheets feel especially nice on your bare legs and he knows how soft you like everything to be. He spoils you, really, but you can’t complain. Everything he does, he does for you and for the forest.

You place your head on his chest and listen to his low and slow heartbeat. You grin when his hand lands in your head and he begins playing with your hair. You turn and kiss his fingers, beckoning him to caress your face.

“Good morning, sweet girl.”

“Mmmm, I’m not too sure it’s morning anymore,” you say with a yawn, curling against his warm frame.

“Have we overslept again?”

“We had a long night.”

“That we did… though it could’ve been longer.”

You laugh at the thought. By day, Shouta tended to his forest in a manner that you couldn’t call lazy or sluggish but he kept his attitude lax as he spoke to the animals and fed the fauna around him. At night, when his true splendor took form, he was bursting with energy and the forest, creatures and all, followed suit, coming alive and celebrating another beautiful twilight together. He didn’t waste any time winding you up and wearing you down when the time came for the two of you to be alone together. Again, you can’t complain.

You lean up and ready yourself to get out of bed but he interlocks his fingers with yours. “Stay with me, my love.”

“I would but I still need to eat, don’t I? I was thinking about going over to the river by the grape vines.”

Shouta hums and reaches around the bed to film a sack out. In it, were plush red grapes that he must’ve picked last night. He leans up, plucks one off the vine, and coaxes you to open your mouth where he gingerly places the fruit. He watches your lips and asks, “how is it?”

“Very sweet,” you grin.

“Let me taste.” He leans in and brushes his lips against yours. You blush at the act, always quick to become flustered at his suave moves even while the two of you had been together for… a long time. The forest made it so time meant for very little to you though that did make you think about your family and how they are doing.

Shouta makes a movement with his tongue that enticing you to open your mouth for him. His tongue slips in and brushes along yours while his hands cup your face, bringing you closer for a deeper kiss. He groans into you and your stomach forms knots, feeling your energy pulled in by him. He breaks away and smiles, flashing his dangerously long canine teeth that you’ve grown to adore. You look into his mesmerizing charcoal black eyes and find your body growing heavy, the need to lay back next to him growing.

“Have your grapes,” he whispers, “but stay in bed. We can relax today.”

“Where was this attitude last night?” You ask, half serious.

He chuckles. “How can I resist acting so carnal when you were looking at me the way you were? My wife makes me act and feel like an animal.”

“You are an animal.” Still, you lay with him. You let him be content, at peace, but when his breathing yet again grows heavy and his eyes fall, you move furtively out of bed so you don’t make any sound and begin your walk. Sometimes you need to stretch your legs.

You stroll around the forest, collecting nuts and berries, smiling at the creatures watching you; a blue jay sitting in her nest chirps cheerfully at you, a shy fox skampers away, and a little fawn pokes its head curiously at you from around the tree. You feed the fawn some nuts, holding your hand out flat like your husband taught you.

You love the forest and everything about it. You love your husband though he can be a little too protective if you at times which is silly since he pretty much rules the wood. It’s just nice to get away for awhile, to relax and think. You try to shake the lingering sadness you’d gotten from the dream you woke up from. Dreaming about your ex fiancé while you’re completely content with the life you have is no fun but it did get you thinking about your family. They haven’t heard from you since the day you left to deliver muffins to the mysterious man in the woods that ended up turning your entire world around. You know that you can’t tell them about Shouta but they should still know that you’re alive. They’re not too far from you. Poking your head in for a short visit shouldn’t hurt.

Your hands brush against each moss covered tree as you pass them and you whistle a sweet little tune to yourself while you walk in the direction you think is home. But the forest grows dark, and it’s weird. It’s not time for sun down. You continue to walk and all the trees you pass a look like ones you’ve seen before. How can this be?

You start to run, deciding to take a new direction but still… everything looks the same. You pass by the blue jay’s nest and it’s weird, there are three little chicks gathered around the mother. She hadn’t even laid any eggs when you saw her before. A large bucks cautiously walks towards you and he looks at your hand expectedly. That couldn’t be… the dawn you’d seen just a short while ago.

Tears dot your eyes and you take off in yet another direction and that’s when you hear your name echoing across the trees. It’s not your husband’s voice. You race towards whoever called you, and freeze dead in your tracks when you see a man with indigo colored hair walking through the forest.

It’s hard to recognize him as your ex fiancé at first. If he hadn’t been accompanied by your ex best friend, the maid of honor that had betrayed you, Kyouka, you wouldn’t think twice about it.

He calls your name again and it pulls at your heartstrings.

“Are you sure about this, Hitoshi?” Kyouka pulls at her dress sleeves, eyeing the forestry around her.

“She’s in here. I know it. I know he has her.”

“I want to believe as much as anybody else that she’s alive but… Hitoshi, after that day… after what we did…”

“That wasn’t us,” he hissed, not even bothering to look at her. “It was him. I don’t know how, I don’t know why but I am sure of it. God dammit, why didn’t she talk to me?”

“How many more times are we going to do this, Hitoshi?”

“We don’t have to do anything, Kyouka. But I’m not gonna stop. I’m gonna keep coming back to this damned forest until I find her! Y/N!!”

You call out to them but your voice doesn’t quite meet your tongue. You start to run but it’s like something was holding you in place. Bushes and fern pass you but you don’t get any closer to the two. “I’m here!” You half whisper but they don’t hear you. You watch as they both disappear behind a large redwood and your voice starts to break as you finally get to yell.

“My sweet,” you hear the dark velvety voice of your husband and freeze. You turn to him. Today he’s wearing lighter colored robes to signify the coming of spring. It would be nice if he didn’t have such a scornful look on his face. “What are you doing?”

“I…” your voice shakes, “I don’t know I thought I’d visit my parents today to tell them that I’m okay… and then I saw my old friends… and I… Shouta, I can’t seem to leave.”

“You were trying to leave?” His brows narrow, “again?”

“Again? Shouta, what do you mean ‘again?’ I haven’t… I… this is the first time.”

“No, Y/N,” he brings his arms around you and holds you in a tight embrace. He sighs. “Why must you be so ungrateful towards me? Have I not given you everything? Carried out your every whim? Need I remind you that I am entirely devoted to you and expect you to be the same?”

“Shouta… I just want to see my mother and father. My little sisters must be worried sick about me.”

“You can’t leave,” there’s an eerie finality in what he’s saying. “Perhaps I should’ve killed you when I finally found you again. Then you’d become a will-o-wisp and your allegiance to this forest would be much more supreme but I…” he pauses and looks into your eyes. “I could never hurt you, my serene bliss.”

“Sho…” you whisper his name and watch his dark eyes soften. “If this is a dream, I’d like to wake up now.”

Silver vines erupt from the ground and coil around your legs. Shouta smiles sadly about you. “I’ll put you to sleep today, Y/N. When you wake up, I promise you’ll be in a much better mood.”

The luminous vines wrap around your torso and you feel like you’re going to be sick. “Shouta, I don’t understand…”

He holds your chin between his thumb and his index finger and plants a sweet kiss on your lips. “It’s okay, my love. Just remember that you belong to this forest. These creatures are my eyes and these trees are my ears. You’ll never have to fret because I’ll always be watching you. You belong to me. You belong to the forest. And the forest won’t let you leave.”

“I… belong to the forest.”

“That’s right… Now…” he lifts a porcelain cup to your lips, “why don’t we have some tea.”

Confused but compliant, you let the liquid into your mouth. This has happened many times before but for some odd reason you can’t recall any single instance. You just know.

You let your body buzz over and lose control of your muscles. You fall into his gentle embrace and he carries you back to bed.

When you wake up everything is fine. You catch the fruity scent of strawberries and you’re thrilled to know that summer has come around. You turn to your husband who’s already awake, raking his fingers along your back, tickling you awake. His kisses your shoulder blade, sending shivers down your spine. “Good morning, sweet girl,” another kiss, “I’ve missed you.”
