I'd love to wake up and find out that this weird old man was messing with me, "taking liberties", and planting a bomb in me in my sleep. I love heroes or antiheroes mostly antiheroes getting ahold of someone they think is involved in something that's so morally reprehensible they hurt first and ask questions later. Be that because the victim is an undercover agent that's gaming the truly evil people, a scapegoat for the big bad, or just someone in the wrong place ar the wrong time.

Love it even more when the reveal comes after something genuinely awful has been done to the victim and the hero takes up the role of caretaker out of guilt.
