Doctor Damian Home Alone’s the Watchtower.

Damian was finishing up some medical evaluations or synthesizing a new anesthetic/antidote on the Watchtower when the League left for their mission. He noticed the moment their communications got cut off from Earth and pulled the silent alarm that would alert the other civilian medical staff to rally at their assigned defensible locations. Next, he rattled off Batman’s codes for a lockdown and began the tried and true Batfam method of setting traps.

All of the equipment is in lockdown. He has sections of the tower where he’s shut off the gravity. When he’s able to with the internal sensors he begins scanning the aliens and finds out they’re sensitive to noise/light/temperature and wreaks havoc on the environmental controls. He sets trip wires and stun grenades and glue traps. Some doors are wide open and will automatically close and lock behind intruders. He leaves specific consoles active to determine what they’re looking for or what the plan is and then sends a power surge through it to electrocute them. He picks off the invaders one by one and runs a bioscan to synthesize an equivalent knockout gas to flood the tower.

Damian is the tower’s last line of defense.

I’ve been keeping track of my fave fics for like. 8 years (good god…) and a few years back i started this google sheets with them all organized. it’s been my new years resolution for the last uhhh. couple years. to share this thang in some form but i have no idea if it would be of interest or use to ppl…anyone have thoughts?

Is there something that exists as a database for like every clip from every show and movie of someone fainting? With a fever? Getting injured? It feels like this must exist somewhere? Is it supposed to be Tumblr because if it exists can someone show me

do you ever have to like. check references to remember cat names. or do you just have a mental database of every cc cat ever

Great question! For like the first two years of running this blog it was basically just a mental database. Like genuinely I just knew them. There's a few cats that I've always had trouble telling apart (like Minx's cats or Martyn's cats) but I used to be able to ID most of them off a photo without you even telling me which CC owned them.

These days it's a bit more to keep track of, I update this blog less often, and I spend less time stalking CCs on social media for cat photos. It is much more difficult for me to remember all their names. So right now, if I forget a cat name, I normally just search this blog for the CC name. My tagging over the years has benefitted me because it allows me to double check things very easily!

btw something i figured out: spore doesnt actually randomly crash that much, it crashes specifically when you die in the creature stage in the middle of a migration. my guess would be this is because once the migration starts, it deletes your old nest as your respawn point, but cant set one at the new nest because theres a cutscene thats supposed to play when you arrive at it, so when it tries to respawn you the game gets confused and dies. the migration paths also happen to be lined with a lot of dangerous species, so youre more likely to die during that than the rest of the creature phase, making it almost certain that someone unaware of this will run into this glitch at least once if not many many times. and depending on when you last saved, it could be anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours until you get back to the point where it can happen again, meaning that by then the circumstances leading up to the previous crash could be but a twinkle in your mind's eye and the pattern isnt likely to stand out unless youre playing it over and over and over and over again within a very short timespan.

tldr just save your game whenever a migration starts and youll be fine

If you had told me my enemy customer would be a professor with a whole PhD who cannot be bothered to use his PhD research skills to use the OPAC or databases, instead emailing me and telling me to do it for him and email him the article link; or send emails to other librarians who are better equipped to help him, instead asking me to email them for him and, again, email him the answer because he is a big professor with a doctorate and I am peasant scum, yeah I probably would have believed you.

one of my-fictional-selves is Slightly Complex in both backstory and motives. it makes me doubt if im ""truly"" him because sometimes i get Confused by his actions and backstory and whatnot. and idk if FULLY Fully Understanding a characters canon actions is required to go "yeah thats me"

tbh i feel like if you struggle to sort fics w ao3 then you probably havent spent a lot of time interacting w your library’s search catalogue

i got on ao3 knowing next to nothing about how it worked, but i had so much experience w library catalogues that i picked up on it right away and i always feel surprised when people are like “btw you can do this to include just these specific fandoms and exclude all others!” im like “…yeah and?” but then in the notes everyone’s going ham over this “crazy feature” and i think it’s silly an cute

im not judging anyone btw!! i know good libraries are hard to come by, and youd have to be a total homeschooled book nerd whose mom gave a whole unit’s worth of lessons on using a library database (totally not based on irl experience, cough cough) to really understand some of the fine tuned stuff

but that being said!!! here’s a tip i was given about library catalogues that can apply to ao3: dont be afraid to click around and experiment! you wont hurt the website lol and you might just find a neat new feature that way!

Musings...

There is a part of me that really is sad that I've decided to delay my Beauce puppy plans, but there is a more substantial part of me that feels failed by the Beauce community, that feels like the breed is going in a direction that doesn't sit right with me. I said it like this this weekend - the Beauce community where I am is so strong, so tight-knit, and so positive, but the broader Beauce community is so toxic and so divisive.. we are the exception, not the rule. In the other breed I'm interested in, it is the opposite. Cliques exist in every breed and there is always someone breeding to an interpretation of the standard that is either A) objectively incorrect or B) not to your/my subjective taste... but paired with the lack of communication, the lack of organised and experienced leadership, the volatility and combatative nature of the people in the community, etc... I'm shocked Beauces are climbing in popularity as quickly as they are. Urgh.
