Got dragged to two (2!!) parties and had to wait until I got home so I could stay up and finish this. So verrry tired.

Anyways, here's Emmet at Anville taking pictures of the turntable from the bridge. Thought I'd give him a typical railfan hobby, so here he is doing train photography. I heard that photographer railfans in Japan are called Toritetsu so ig that could be a descriptor? Homeboy just likes getting their good angles to look at later. Hope you like it and see you later.

Gracie doesn't hate Chetri. Gracie just hates that they need Chetri there. The only voice in her ear keeping them safe should be Will's and she is forgetting his voice. When she forgets his voice, then he is lost to her forever.

Gracie had basically fled as soon as Chetri wasn’t looking in her direction. She didn’t have long before she had to leave for the mission but her hands were shaking and her breath catching in her throat.

“Novin?” Mac frowned looking up from the intel packet.

Gracie cursed under her breath. In her haste to get outside and away from Chetri she hadn’t checked she was alone in the small alley outside the crib. “Mac,” she sighed, coughing when the words came out choked.

“Everything good?” Mac prompted, ever the gentleman despite seeing her frazzled and emotional.

“Yeah, yeah,” Gracie murmured, turning around to head back inside but stopping in the doorway. Mac might get it. He might be one of two people in her life right now that would. “Chetri brought up Will.”

“Ah,” Mac sighed, closing the folder and clutching at it so heard it left nail shaped indents in the paper.

“It brought back some, some emotions and some feelings I have been taking out on Chetri,” Gracie stepped back outside fully.

“We’ve all been doing it. It’s shit but I can’t stop comparing her to him,” Mac nodded and that confession started the flood.

“I told him that I didn’t want him there, I told him that this life wasn’t for him,” Gracie’s voice caught in her throat as she looked up at the sky, a desperate attempt to keep the tears in her eyes.

“Novin,” Mac sighed, stepping closer. Gracie waved her hand and sniffed as she shook her head. If Mac was fucking nice to her right now that would ruin everything. The dam would burst and she would be lose underneath that crippling grief once again. They didn’t have time for that. Her lips pressed together, teeth worrying the skin on the inside of her bottom lip.

“That was a lie. I lied because I wanted him safe. He was great at this. He wasn’t bad out there and when everything was going to shit his voice was always there to keep us safe,” one lone tear threatened her tender grasp on composure.

“I didn’t appreciate it until we didn’t have it anymore,” Mac sighed, “the voice on the other end of the radio before was always someone distant, a pencil pusher just for that job. But he was a part of the team and treated us like we were the only thing that mattered.”

Gracie nodded, the vice on her chest loosened as Mac verbalised some of her pain. “I’m forgetting it Mac. I’m forgetting his voice and it fucking hurts,” the last words troubled out of her in a pained yell, a wounded animal’s cry for help. “And Chetri. She’s great.”

Mac’s scoff broke her flow, “you hate her.”

“I,” Gracie half laughed half sobbed, “I don’t hate her. She’s adjusting. She’s new.”

“She’s not him,” Mac sighed.

“Every time the radio clicks and her voice comes through it, it’s like hearing Donovan confess to his murder over and over again. It’s reminding me I won’t hear his voice over the comms and I won’t get to see that stupid little nervous tic,” her hand automatically reached up to rub at the back of her neck.

“That he did whenever he had found something or did something clever but didn’t want to gloat about it,” Mac chuckled quietly.

“I told Chetri not to make friends on the job. Just clock in, clock out,” Gracie started to run out of steam and slumped against the wall next to Mac.

“That’s long gone for us ain’t it,” Mac smiled, knocking their shoulders together. It fell quiet but Mac slowly brought out his phone and was tapping away. Then Gracie’s phone buzzed. She turned and looked at him in confusion. “I wasn’t sure whether it would be healthy for you to have this but after today. I think it would really help. I, I shouldn’t have done it and it took a lot of string pulling but for me it’s worth it,” he nodded and walked back inside before Gracie could ask any of the questions she now had. Mac had texted her a phone number. With the man himself seemingly not going to elaborate Gracie shrugged. What was the point in waiting?

The phone rang. And rang. And rang. Whoever it was that Mac wanted Gracie to talk to clearly was not going to pick up. What a waste of …

“Hey there you. You have reached the voicemail of Will Jensen. If you are hearing this message then I either don’t want to talk to you or can’t talk right now. You should know which you are. If this call is urgent then, please text. I never check these things, and really does anyone call these days? If it’s not urgent then hey, it’s not my problem.”

Gracie didn’t notice the tears streaming down her cheeks. It was him. It was Will. It was his voice. It wasn’t his radio voice, his work voice but it was so him it hurt. She hung up, and redialled again.

“Hey there you. You have reached the voicemail of Will Jensen. If you are hearing this message then I either don’t want to talk to you or can’t talk right now. You should know which you are. If this call is urgent then, please text. I never check these things, and really does anyone call these days? If it’s not urgent then hey, it’s not my problem.”

She didn’t know how Mac had found it. Will never shared his personal phone with them. He had his work phone. Gracie had all of Will’s data, all of his secrets but this one. Now she would never let it go.

He was gone. But he was never forgotten.

arguments with kento are always the worst.

you’ve learned over the years that you’d probably prefer it if he would just scream back when he’s mad rather than being dead silent.

because when he’s angry, he doesn’t speak. he just gives you space to cool off, then he always makes sure to kiss you before you sleep. a way to let you know that tomorrow is a new day and he still loves you the same even if things are heated; that you can always talk it out with him.

you hate it because he always, always apologizes first even if it’s your fault sometimes, but you always appreciated his way of communicating. it’s as if he would rather take the jab every time than have you mad at him.

however, he couldn’t do so that day— october 31, 2018. he had to go to shibuya and left with tension between the two of you. you don’t even remember what exactly you argued about— all you recall was that it ended with you both saying something that could’ve easily passed as unforgivable, words specifically chosen to wound each other’s feelings.

and as per, kento gave you your space and left with you having the last word.

except you never got that good night’s kiss.

when news reached you, you didn’t even react. how could you? the last words you said to him was “then leave already,” with the coldest, meanest tone you’ve ever spoken to him in.

you just stared at the wall for what seemed like days. people were calling you non stop, but your phone was turned off. you hadn’t even left your shared bedroom. the comforter still had his scent on it and you’re afraid that it’ll disappear if you get up for even a minute and then his passing will feel real.

it wasn’t until ino stopped by to drop off his cellphone— one of the only traces he left that night— that you did something else besides laying down. you stared at kento’s scuffed lock screen, sitting at the dim dining room table.

his wallpaper was a photo of you. he took it while you were eating in the very place you’re sitting in right now and you begged him for days to delete it. he insisted that you looked pretty so you let him be. he’d always been like that, so stern with others but he had such a soft spot for you.

you knew his password because it was your anniversary date, then the messaging app opened as soon as you punched the numbers in. it’s your chat, the last conversation you had on there was him asking if you wanted to eat outside because he was free the next morning and you obliged. that was the night before you had an argument the next day and lunch plans were cancelled.

he had an unsent message— all typed out, but he never pressed the send button for some reason.

he was apologizing for hurting you.

he said that he knows it’s been tough for you these days and how he should’ve seen the signs sooner instead of thinking everything’s okay.

then he apologized again for not being able to kiss you goodnight, and for being a shitty husband that couldn’t tend to his wife’s needs.

the message concluded with “i miss you, my precious girl. make sure to eat and sleep well, i’ll make it up to you soon.”

kento’s death hadn’t hit your reality until those words on the screen registered in your mind. your dry, pale lips from barely drinking water trembled, eyes welled up in tears for the first time since you found out. so many different emotions crashed over you in such little time, your chest felt tight and you let go of his phone, clattering onto the wooden table.

“then leave already,” replayed in your mind over and over and the way his face turned pale from your harsh words. with how things turned out, it almost sounded like you were sending him on death’s row and it made you feel like you’re responsible somehow.

guilt loomed over you like a stormy cloud for making him feel like he wasn’t good enough for you and you wonder how different the future might’ve turned out if you’ve at least gave him a hug before he left.

if you could’ve just set your pride aside and kissed him goodbye like he does with you before you sleep.

and if he still loved you the same at his final moments.

A.U.gust 2024

It's almost August again, so time for us to explore alternative universes and see all the other ways in which our boys could fall in love. 😊

For this year, each week will have a general theme, and anything that falls under that theme is allowed, as long as it's original. WIPs, updates or re-imaginings of your own previous works are also allowed (to use someone else's work as inspiration, please ask for their consent before starting).

As always, no sign-ups are needed for this event. Just make sure to mention me using @gallavichthings on the body of your post (you can hide it under a read-more or by using a reblog if you wish to). Posting here on Tumblr is mandatory, but you can host your work somewhere else and post only a link if you want to. There will, of course, be a collection on AO3 (to be announced later).

Some posting suggestions (nothing is mandatory, but it would be courteous):

Tags are to your own discretion, but I suggest tagging NSFW works or hiding them under read-mores (in case of visual posts - fics are normally not an issue).

If you post a long fic on Tumblr in its entirety, it's best to use a read-more in order not to make your post too long and take up a lot of space on people's dashboards and on the tags.

For posting multiple unrelated works on AO3, posting separate works and making them part of one series is better than making each work a chapter of one single fic. That way, you can tag it appropriately and people can more easily find the fic they actually want to read. (That doesn't apply, of course, if your fics are actually connected.)

And without further ado, the themes for each week (please note that a few examples were provided for each week, but they're just a small fraction of what can be done):

If you aren't able to finish your work in time to post it in the designated week, please wait to post it in the last three days. If your AU falls under more than one category, you may post in any week you prefer, according to what you judge to be the most relevant to your work.

Monster-Enthusiasts, Monster-Lovers, and Monster-Fucker, I call upon thee! This upcoming October is going to be spooky!

It's time for a whole month of delicious monster content! Whether you want them to stalk, to hunt, or to devour your little protagonists (mind you, the monsters are the real protagonists of the story, hehe), I want to see a month dedicated to the beauty of the Ugly and Horrible! All things monster are welcome—art, writing, any kind of showcasing a monster! No matter how cruel or how obscene you like it—now's the time to show it off! ♥

I have prepared a list of monsters & prompts for your guidance, however, if you'd rather do a different monster or a different prompt, that is totally fine! If you prefer to stay private and not have your post reblogged to this blog, that is totally alright, too! Hello! And welcome to my brand new whump gifmaking challenge! I'm your host @aceofwhump and I'm excited to bring a whump challenge specifically created with gifmakers and visual artists in mind.

The challenge begins August 1, 2024!

Rules:

All gifs posted must be made by you. Do not just post gifs using the gif keyboard and claim them as yours and do not repost other people’s gifs. No AI-generated content please.

Various mediums are welcome! So long as the visual art aspect is the focus you can make whatever you want. Yes this is primarily a gifmaking challenge so everything is geared towards that but any visual art is welcome. If you draw, make moodboards, edits, videos, etc you’re welcome to participate!

You can use the prompts however you like. There is no wrong way to use a prompt. Feel free to interpret them however you wish. If you think it counts as whump? It's whump! Make it! Angst, comfort, emotional whump, small things, big things, it all counts so no need to over think it.

Tag all potential triggers (things like emeto, gore, nsfw, blood, eye whump, rape/noncon, etc.) When in doubt, tag it.
