Big Two comics fandom is wild.
Fans scurrying around like mice, picking only the choicest delectable cheese crumbs of canon, weaving in and out of the deadly spring-traps of terrible writing.
Other fans deliberately placing their paws into the mouse traps, week after week.

my comic store gave me a dc manga free sampler.
it had a few pages of the following mangas:
Joker: One Operation Joker
Superman vs Meshi
Batman: Justice Buster.
Joker: One Operation Joker is about Joker raising a baby-ified Batman after Batman falls into a vat of chemicals that turns him into a baby. So far my only comment is WTF and that it would be funnier if we didn't have Joker's internal narration. We should just see him waving a knife around a baby and be forced to wonder what's going on, rather than him thinking about changing diapers.
batman: justice buster had well drawn action, very little dialogue or internal narration to slow things down, they just let the art speak for itself. But I don't know exactly what the premise is because there was only dialogue on the last page.
Superman vs Meshi seems to mostly be about Superman eating at Japanese restaurants. Clark claims superman has made there be world peace, so his boss can't blame him for writing a boring article about a giant (but not record worthy) apple pie. the comic starts with superman in line at a ramen shop, then it ends with superman being glad that lois rejected him asking her to go out with him to eat, because he wanted to go eat at a japanese restaurant chain instead
I'm not sure I'm interested in reading the batman ones, b/c I don't care about the Joker and while the Batman: Justice Buster looks well-done so far, without a premise that interests me I'm not going to go out of my way to read out of continuity comics. But i WILL read Superman vs Meshi, I want to find out why the comic seems mostly to be about restaurants so far.

Some people get it right.
I did my usual lap of the audiophile directory and saw a name.
The Audiophiliac guy was interviewing David Chesky. I have a number of Chesky LPs and they are excellent. He has been around a while. I had a mental image of an old heavyset geezer with gray hair and well.... I was way wrong.
DC is a skinny long haired dynamo. He can play and does play with all sort of equipment. He is a musician, a composer and a record producer/engineer. His home is an Aladdin's cave of audio gear.
Ok here is the link.
youtube
The best part was DC dominated the show and Steve said very little. DC is a maker of art, Steve is a spectator.
I am surprised and impressed that his main system is a set of Quad 57s. They are tweaked and have added super tweeters, but still old Quad Electrostatics at heart. I love the still picture of the guy with an electric guitar between the most polite speakers ever to leave Jolly Old England.
He has several set ups so he can compare his mixes. He describes the process very well. But the Quads are the main set.
Key point is his goal as a recording engineer is to make the sound clear, clean, and accurate. He wants the wall of your home to disappear and be replaced by sound. Sound with depth and width and height.
Yet he respects distortion and different dynamics.
I can testify that his LPs are excellent. He is exploring new methods of distributing music.
He goes on about how high end equipment is arts and crafts as opposed to hard technology. Hey I can get behind that. As there is no best portrait painter there is no best amplifier. It is what you like.
I think you have a couple of benchmarks to a high end audio system. It has nothing to do with brands or methods. First is you have a convincing illusion of a performance in your room. (I got that) Second is you like the voice or sound of the system for your music. (I got that too!)
Actually my system has two voices. Winter is one and summer is the other based on the amp then on duty. So similar and different.
Actually Spring is coming and when I swap out the amplifiers I will do a detailed comparison. There is no one type of high end.

Drumroll Please
I have recently come to the decision to share more of my fan fiction on Tumblr, hence this shiny new sideblog to collect all assorted snippets, first chapters, new ideas, so on and so forth. First order of business will be laying out all the fandoms I post for over on my AO3, and putting together a Masterlist with links to each “what if” series. My other blogs here include @triscribe for Shenanigans, @birdsandbatsofgotham for all the DC art/writings I stumble across, and @storiesfromthescribe where I only talk about my original projects.
Featured tags here will henceforth include:
-pjo (new as of 2024, I finally watched the new series and guys. GUYS. I love it so much. And I love even more that it’s inspired me to write more in a week than the past two months) The Trade AU
-star wars (originals, prequels, sometimes sequels, plus a wide swath of cartoon show characters and occasionally a reference to the live action ones too) Main Series: What-If AUs and Vod’e An and Visions
-marvel (I am first and foremost a Spidey fan, so he’s usually the one getting tossed into shenanigans with a healthy dose of GotG on the side) Avengers Nonsense Starring Spider-Man and Guardians Shenanigans
-dc (listen. LISTEN. I haven’t touched any comic to have come out in the last decade, but I would never have become a fandom person if not for the Bats, so I will make new AUs based off of their familial nonsense until the day I die) Canon? What Canon? Batfam Stories  and YJ AU Assortment
-hogwarts (for all things Harry Potter, because She Who Shall Not Be Named created a great sandbox that I still love to grab and run with, usually down a road called Total Disregard of the Author) Main Series: Alternate Living Arrangements
-transformers (I’ve got knowledge from half a dozen different continuities and I am not afraid to assemble my favorite pieces into a whole new amalgamation of adventure) (catch-all series to be determined) Cliff and the Kid
-alta (I can remember blowing off a friend’s slumber party to watch The Boy in The Iceberg when it premiered, okay? My fan fic ideas for this show are not a recent development, but actually writing the dang things down and posting them is new and comes in fits and spurts) Avatar AUs
-bnha (My Hero Academia was a bit of an accidental fandom, honestly, but for a year or so it was just about the only thing I wrote for, and there’s a heap of fic on my AO3 account to reflect that) Wild Cards and Something Strange Hit Me and my Doubles AU
-misc (the catch-all, the extraneous, the fandoms I really only dabble with, hence adding an extra tag to keep them all bunched together for quicker identification) Featuring: Back Again (Merlin) and Smallest, Smartest, Youngest (Voltron) and Got to Be Joking (Ranger’s Apprentice)
-originals (which won’t appear here all that often, but since I *do* have a few pieces of my own worldbuilding creations available to read...) Scribe Sampler and The Understudy Project
Alrighty, last couple of links to other websites: Tri on Instagram, where I occasionally post my art of various fandom and canon characters Ko-fi, where one could commission a speedier update to one of my fan fiction stories they particularly love or purchase a signed copy of my self-published novel And as of March 2023, I’ve also got a brand new Patreon account, where the first pieces of big WIPs go up, and you can read the first chapter of my book Wolfen’s Rage for free.
Now then. Who’s ready to read?

Recent DC Reads:
Under the Moon: A Catwoman Tale
This is another book from the DC Ink teen graphic novels line and it’s a bit of a headscratcher for me. I don’t mind that the line leans heavily into reinterpretations of a general three sentence outline of a character’s past (there’s been some great work done here, and Oracle Code is probably the top of the list for ‘wide reinterpretation update that works’), but on some occasions when you know a lot about a character it can be to your detriment, just in terms of characterisation.
Art and design wise, this felt particularly like a webcomic in collected form, more than a graphic novel in and of itself. It was very episodic and chunked in a way that my brain could separate it into each webcomic post, complete with titles for each post. Also in terms of its episodic nature was that the plot tended to wander: the writing would pick up a storyline and get distracted by the new shiny, forgetting the previous plot thread. However, I did enjoy that the story ended on an open question over whether Rosie had made the right decision or not for herself.
It hit enough of the basic beats of a young Selina Kyle to be recognisable as Selina, but it was definitely one of the more divergent stories in this line in that the elements really didn’t line up with any of the origin stories I’m familiar with for her. I also found the inclusion of Bruce rather gratuitous and unnecessary.
I think the point where it had difficulty the most is that a lot of the beats of a good Catwoman tale (the love of cats, the fitting in to high society to act as a thief, the heists, the flirting, the athleticism) were all present but fragmented. They were largely dealt with separately and didn’t really pull together into a coherent whole. Which, this Selina is 14! She’s not fully competent yet. That’s fine. But it was a bit too early edition without acknowledging that in future all these elements will combine together into one seamless act.
I generally like the DC Ink line, they’re nicely accessible introductions to characters, particularly leaning into what is mythologically true about the character’s archetype more than any sort of canon-faithfulness. But this one just didn’t quite pull itself together in a satisfying way for me.
The Sandman Universe #1 and Books of Magic #1-6 (2019) I picked this up entirely on the promise of Bilquis Evely art, so I got…half an issue of that? It was beautiful, in any case.
Every time I try to read one of the continuing Books of Magic series, rather than the original mini, I’m reminded that a lot of what I love most about the mini is its contained, complete nature. It’s very much a story with the attitude that underlies the creation of the Vertigo line, but it’s also a really good realistic-edged sampler of the various corners of Magical and Dark DC. You can pick it up and get a taste for a lot of different characters/magical realms in DC and it works as a sort of directory to go find new things to try.
While the continuing stories focusing on Tim Hunter? They’re okay. They’re not Giovanni Zatara holding an eviscerated rabbit, or soaring Charles Vess art of magical realms.
Those complaints aside, this was well set up for a new run. I didn’t need to be fully across all the events of previous runs; it would be a slog to come into this if you were completely unfamiliar with the basics of the Endless, Dream’s realm, and who Tim Hunter is, but it was entirely accessible for someone who has only read the original Books of Magic and enough of Sandman to know what it looks like (though there are definite spoilers for both the end of Sandman and events during previous Books of Magic runs).
I’m not going to continue this, but I do have to say one of the reasons I regularly dip into the extended Sandman Universe is that it gets some of the best DC artists in the business at decorative and creative art assigned to it. At this point I go here for artists like Charles Vess, J.H. Williams III and Bilquis Evely being allowed to go rogue and as hard as they want with their art, and being supported in that.

Izzott a levegő az Analogban: Royal Hunt, Echonald – Analog Music Hall, 2023. 08. 30.
Izzott a levegő az Analogban: Royal Hunt, Echonald – Analog Music Hall, 2023. 08. 30. - https://metalindex.hu/2023/09/10/izzott-a-levego-az-analogban-royal-hunt-echonald-analog-music-hall-2023-08-30/ -
Kilenckor a legutóbbi, 2018-as turnéjuk sikerdalával, a Fistful Of Miseryvel robbantak be a színpadra, André Andersen zenekarvezető vezényletével a közönség ütemes „hej” kiáltásaira.
Andreas Passmark basszusgitáros a biztos alap mellett a vokálból is aktívan kivette a részét, bár szerintem ennek az oroszlánrészét a sampler vállalta.
A 2013-as ‘A Life To Die For’ lemez címadó nótája megjelenése óta szintén szerves részévé vált a műsornak, és mindig főhelyen szerepel, 2018-ban a főműsor zárótétele volt, 2016-ban és most is a koncertet záró ráadásnóta.
