Guys, I'm literally begging you to not make me the "Um, actually" guy right now.

Atlantis is not and has never been a real actual city.

There is literally no historical or anthropological evidence that it ever existed. It was an entirely made up city that Plato created to illustrate his point about the very real threat of political corruption and how if left unchecked, could lead to the absolute devastation of an entire nation and its people.

It's also a fucking Nazi conspiracy theory. I shouldn't have to explain how "a secret advanced ancient civilization whose people were inherently superior and able to dominate all of the Ionian, Aegean and Mediterranean seas" is an absolute red fucking flag.

😊 War & Peace and the Redemption of Bucky Barnes (ThePirateStorm) - 51K, stucky modern no-powers AU - bucky's a writer, steve's a single dad with a teenage daughter, they have a meet ugly that quickly turns around - enjoyable read, I was quite chuffed I correctly identified the IRL book series that Bucky's is based on

😊 🎧Murder at the English Manor (A Miss Underhay Mystery #20) (Helena Dixon, author; Karen Cass, narrator) - Kitty & Matt get roped in to investigating the disappearance (murder) of a maid from a local estate (whose folks are trying to facilitate a 'Dollar Duchess' marriage and would prefer no unpleasantness)

😊 Fall Into You (Dylan Morrison) - very enjoyable contemp queer romance with a really great meet-ugly, explored a lot about how messy and contradictory and complex people are and also about how fucked up family dynamics are. -

Favorite Things (ann_anotherthing) - Stranger Things: Steddie, 17K - more adventures of middle-aged men 😂🥰 I just fucking love this universe/these versions of them (most of it a reread due to a new chapter being added)

Fates (E_Greer) - Justified: Boyd/Raylan, 22K - a wibbly wobbly timey wimey trip - AN starts "buckle in we’re doing six alternate universes" with a super cool guide on how to read each section (I am making it sound way more complicated than it is! Hey since the ads are everywhere right now with that awful flesh hat guy, I thought you guys should be aware that Tubi is owned by Fox. Like, the Rupert Murdoch Fox. The Fox that owns Fox News. Because I find myself (for perhaps the first time in my adult life) actually paying attention to media appearances during an awards cycle, I've been getting a lot of exposure recently to celebrities and red carpet appearances and interviews and thoughts, from lots of different people, about the clothes that various people are wearing, and who let them out of the house looking like that.

And because of this, I found this recent episode of Decoder Ring really really interesting. The episode was hosted by Audrey Trufelman of the Articles of Interest podcast, another favorite of mine.

In it, Trufelman and regular Decoder Ring host Willa Paskin talk about the creation and rise of the celebrity stylist. It's super interesting.
