Mondstadt edition!

Info: OOC? Mentions of other characters, writing sucks, sorry if I get some lore wrong with some characters! Fyi, none of this is cannon besides the occasional lore mentions (also I am trying to clean out all of these hcs before fountaine comes out and I am SPRINTING)

Albedo: Since he's not a human, he didn't know how to react when he broke one of his bones. Thankfully, Sucrose was there to help him and took him back to Mondstadt to get his broken bone bandaged up. Jean demanded (intimidated) Albedo to rest until he was healed, safe to say he was not happy.

Amber: When she was a kid, she loved apples and even had a tree for apples. When she was hungry, she would climb up the tree and try to get as many as she could. Most of the time, she fell and got some sort of scar of her knee or elbow, but as she grew up, she got better and more agile.

Barbara: She visited Liyue once, and since she's an idol, she got a lot of praise there. The bad part was that some of the guys there were very creepy to her, but she formed a friendship with Yunjin and Xinyan, and they scared them away. Even Xiao since it's his job to protect people in Liyue! They formed an unlikely friendship, and they still write letters to each other (Xiao always asks if she's been doing okay).

Bennett: Bennett has a bunch of pressed four leaf clovers for bookmarks. He'll even go out of his way to search for new four leaf clovers just for luck, he doesn't really care if he gets hurt.

Diluc: Diluc actually has a very good singing voice and knows how to dance very well! But he doesn't sing or dance much since he's so busy, but he finds himself humming to a song that's playing on his record player.

Diona: She has claws but clips them often, but one prominent feature of hers is her nose having a line connected to her mouth, showing some more cat features of hers.

Eula: Whenever her terrible parents weren't looking, she would snatch some candy/sweets and hide them. She once got caught, but luckily, it was by her maid! And her being the wonderful maid she was (also knowing how rude her parents were) let Eula go on multiple occasions.

Fischl: She had a huge interest in string instruments and worked hard to practice with any of them she could find. To this day, she knows how to play a bunch (ex: bass, fiddle, viola, harp, ukulele, etc.)

Jean: She has a bunch of rare allergies, so she's very grateful not to be allergic to pollen, which is why she loves flowers so much.

Kaeya: When Kaeya was growing up in the Ragnvindr family, he learned some English through Diluc. In return, he taught Diluc how to speak some Khaenri'ah.

Klee: She has gotten in trouble so many times to the point where Jean has made a cardboard 'jail cell' for her.

Lisa: She cannot keep a plant alive for the life of her, due to her sleeping so much. On multiple occasions, she has woken up to a dead flower and has had to profusely apologize to Jean for letting her perfect, growing flowers die on her.

Mika: He is an absolute nerd when it comes to literature, so when Razor asks him to teach him some 'fancy words'. Mika was more than happy to help (some times he has to apologize when Razor gets confused when Mika starts spitting our larger words that Razor is still, very new too)

Mona: Unlike Lisa, Mona is a big plant mom, and if any of them were to die on her, then she would cry her heart out and make a funeral for it. She especially loves her Bonsai tree.

Noelle: Despite Noelle being very busy with becoming a knight and other work related info, she actually really likes learning about flower languages and all different kinds. Her favorites are roses, which is why she has so much of the on her outfit

Razor: Since Razor has been living with wolves for most of his life, he's developed a strong sense of smell. You give em a candle, he'll smell it and guess the correct answer in an instant without even looking what's scents are in the candle

Rosaria: Rosaria is secretly really good at sewing and can patch up anything! She's also tried crocheting but it didn't go well

Sucrose: Since Sucrose is an animal, she makes sure that her ears are in tip-top shape so they don't get infected or torn

Venti: Since Venti is an archon hiding as a bard, he took inspiration with a newspaper boy cap and Focalor's French like nation where they have something called a beret. Mixing them together and eventually making his hat! It was only till Zhongli explained that he could've just used a regular bard's hat and didn't need to go the extra mile

Adelinde: well, for example, you never smile. People like smiles and feel comfortable around it. Also, your voice tune is deep and sometimes is gets you to sound rude to a few people. Maybe this may have something to do with you having a harder time around others?

Diluc: oh. That... makes sense. Thank you, Adelinde, I'll keep that in mind during the Windblume festival tomorrow.

Adelinde: you are welcome, master Diluc.

-the next day-

Diluc (thoughts): oh, look. There are a lot of people on that specific area of the festival, and I know some of them. Maybe I should go there and see if I have mastered the skills Adelinde mentioned

Diluc (with the most shining smile ever and a high-pitched voice): Hey, guys! How are you all doing?

Kaeya: WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY BROTHER?!

Jean: fuck. Fuck. I don't like this. I don't like this at all. What the fuck?!

Albedo: you, stop that. NOW.

Barbara (almost crying): lord Barbatos, what IS this...?!

Bennett: paralyzed with fear

Yun Jin asks her question first. It's a thinly veiled business proposition, a Hey, wouldn't it be great if we could work together?. It's not the sleaziest dealing you've seen, but eugh, self-serving grownups and their money money money, me me me. Typical.

Shenhe asks her question next, and it's really dumb, like, what should I do with my life?, where do I call home?. Props to her, though: normally when people her age ask those kinds of questions, they're sobbing into an empty margarita glass. Weird mountain lady looks way more dignified.

(Ningguang gives her the answer you would have given, but she makes it sound way more sophisticated. She's good at that, apparently.)

Then Lady Ningguang turns her gaze to you. "And you?" she asks. "What is your question?"

You cross your arms. "You already know what I'm gonna ask," you say.

"Perhaps I do," she says. "I'd like to hear you say it anyway."

Her face gives nothing away. She doesn't look like she's laughing at you. She looks like she might take you seriously. You've been wrong about that before, but it's a good sign at least.

Fine. You can do that.

"You'd better not laugh," you warn her.

"I promise," she assures you.

You nod, stand up extra straight, and ask:

"How do I completely, totally, one hundred percent destroy Mondstadt's wine industry?"

Beidou - Flirty pirate with a mild alcohol problem.

Bennett - He’s like a cute little puppy. Bounces around in excitement when you give him attention then proceeds to run into a wall.

Zhongli - Looks hot but then he talks and it’s a grandpa with a dash of history teacher….yet for some reason you don’t mind it🤣

Ayaka - She has wet socks.

Diona - She is the cat who pushes over your drink while maintaining direct eye contact with you.

Elysia's Mostly Angsty Genshin Impact Headcanons No One Asked For (Spoilers)

Sure, Diluc would find Childe's blasé, insouciant attitude aggravating. But, Childe, who loves his family more than life itself, would fucking despise Diluc for what he did to his own brother.

Logically, Collei knows she was once experimented on by Il Dottore and the Fatui for their Archon Residue experiments. However, she no longer has concrete memories of this time—and has had none since returning to Sumeru.

Unbeknownst to her, this is because of Nahida. Upon Collei's return with Cyno, Nahida quickly noticed her tumultuous and often terrifying nightmares. Nahida suppressed these memories to give her peace—believing Collei's illness was terminal, and that she deserved some kind of sanctuary after all she's been through.

If he can, Zhongli actively avoids Guili Plains because he's never quite recovered from Guizhong's death. Seeing the ruins of their original assembly is simply too much for him to bear.

Draff's alcoholism and neglect of Diona has caused her "rebellious phase," as he describes it. I don't think this is rebellion, however. Diona's behaviour and perspective, particularly against the Mondstadt Wine Industry, are the rationale of a child struggling to understand why her father might choose wine over her. Of course, addiction is no simple matter, but to a child, such nuances are lost. Presently, all she can see and understand is that her father, who was once her favourite person in the entire world, would sooner spend his time at Angel Share or another tavern, than be at home with her. As such, I think Diona is hurting a lot more than she lets on.

Similarly, Klee also showcases some of the symptoms often seen of a child who has limited contact with their parent(s) or caregiver(s)—just on the opposite end of the spectrum. Players have no idea how long Alice has been away from Klee, but the context clues we have suggest it's been a substantial amount of time. In Diona's case, her longing for a functional relationship with her father has led to outbursts and anger. For Klee, her longing for her mother leads her to build familial-like relationships with the adults who are around.

Yanfei doesn't quite understand the true weight of her own immortality. Intellectually, she knows she will one day outlive her human parent and her human friends, but she doesn't truly understand what this loss will do to her. Watching her loved ones grow old and frail, perhaps even ill, while she remains strong and physically young. Only Ganyu, who is also half-Adeptus, truly knows the level of grief that will one day reshape her. But that's something Ganyu knows Yanfei must come to terms with herself, when the time inevitably comes.

Sometimes, Ei finds it difficult to look at her own reflection—and by extension, Raiden Shogun. Both remind her too starkly of Makoto, of whom she still grieves deeply.

anyway my other venti's history shaping how he is headcanon is that as a wisp he was rarely taken seriously — people are kind to him and will put faith in him due to his being an elemental being, but between a little wind wisp vs a storm god, the wisp isn't doing much they're in the middle of the archon war, great strong gods are getting struck down all the time. (Even later as a god he's seen as the weakest god, possibly the god with the unlikiest of origins out of a group who were gods and powerful being before reaching archonhood)

But the bard treats him not as a contender, not as a god candidate, not even as their hope to take down Decarabian but as a friend.

So he doesn't take himself seriously either, he knows he has the power now yes but habits remain and he doesn't want to be a tyrannt, and in the end the most impactful relationship in his life will always be the bard who treated him not for his role or his potential but as a friend to love and cherish and understand

There is just something so awooga to me about hybrids in the sense that their emotions are so clear to read! The way their ears flop or stay up, or just the way their tails could wag when they see you or something they like! It, it just warms my heart :)

Yesss it’s such an adorable concept and oh so fun to write! Regardless of how composed a character is, as a hybrid they wear their hearts on their sleeves and it’s painfully easy to tell when something is bothering them.

Some rambling below the cut about the animal hybrid characters (I dunno how else to refer to them djhkjhd.

Content: just some headcanons and platonic fluff! Reader is gender neutral but not referred to much.

Characters: Diona, Sucrose, Yae Miko, Gorou, Tighnari

Side note: I use they/them pronouns for Sucrose because of how I personally interpret/headcanon them and their gender! I’d appreciate it if those referring to them while commenting on this post specifically could do the same just on here, please!

Diona doesn’t even try to hide the way her catlike parts twitch and flick about when she’s annoyed - if she’s mad, she wants everyone to know it. It’s a communal problem now, so you’d better look out for that tail fluffing up and the ears going back! However, she can get very shy when her tail sticks up and waves about of its own volition when she sees somebody she looks up to or considers a friend. Diluc once offhandedly commented about how her ears twitch forward whenever she’s listening intently to someone she admires and now she just. Covers them with her hands or a hat which makes it so so much more obvious (don’t tell her that though).

Sucrose is super insecure about their animal parts, so they tend to just hide them away wherever possible, folding their ears down and tucking their fuzzy little tail into their clothes. This means they have very little practice actually controlling their subconscious reactions to things if their ears and tail are exposed for whatever reason. Their ears twitch up and down excitedly when they’re happy about something (usually an experiment gone well or a cool item to collect/observe). They tuck themselves up all small and unassuming when feeling shy (which is pretty much always unless with someone they know well or on their own). Albedo keeps a little handbook documenting what different expressions of Sucrose’s may indicate in more detail.

Yae Miko has lived with all her quirks for long enough to be able to have almost full control over them. Her tails she keeps hidden away whenever possible - attempting to touch or grab where the tails should be will earn you a smack on the hand and a stern scolding. Miko learned some time ago to use her ears as a bit of a nonverbal indicator for when she’s talking to those she’s close with - with some practice, it becomes easy to tell when she’s teasing or joking if you pay attention to the subtle twitches and turns of her ears. If she’s particularly amused, they’ll wriggle up and down and set her earrings jangling against one another. Sometimes, if she’s very excited (or perhaps mad) you may catch a glimpse of soft pink tails wagging. If you’re extremely good, she may let you touch them some day.

Gorou has no semblance of control over his puppy aspects. It’s painfully obvious what he’s listening to and what he’s feeling. A lot of these match up very well with the behaviours of normal dogs, so it’s not exactly a hard or complex language to learn and adapt yourself to. His ears swivel to the direction of whatever he’s listening to or flatten against his head when he’s upset, his tail wags when he’s happy, and coils up between his legs when he’s scared. He barely even seems to notice it until someone points it out. His soldiers tend to place even more trust in him since he wears his emotions so plainly - he couldn’t lie to them, even if he wanted to. Sometimes the twitch of his ears in a certain direction can be read as a nonverbal indicator that there’s enemies preparing to ambush from that side. If you point out his body language, he gets extraordinarily flustered and pouts.

Tighnari also exerts a large amount of control over his ears and tail - it takes a lot of effort and is a learned behaviour from when he used to study at the Akademiya (someone’s fascination in his hybrid genealogy could very quickly derail a conversation). He consciously has to allow himself to not keep his tail still and ears held rigidly, unless he’s very involved in whatever he’s doing (whether that be a conversation or some particularly interesting research). He’s also beginning to learn to use his ears and tail as nonverbal tone indicators. He sometimes struggles with others reading his tone as inherently stern or mean (especially Collei, who is heightened to that sort of stuff), so he has a whole library of different gestures that may mean different things. A flop of one ear may mean he’s confused about a statement, a twitch backwards could indicate sarcasm or amusement. There’s a work in progress visual handbook being passed around the Forest Rangers for the made up language he’s going for. To other hybrids it may be completely off putting since it’s designed more for the consumption of his friends and the other rangers.

__eula ㅤ“oh? indeed, if i were in a story, my importance would be key. my keen sense of justice and deserved glory. it would be a story about revenge, etiquette, and honour. perhaps someone should write such a book and sell it to the children of mondstadt.”

__fischl ㅤ“such diction is foolish in my presence. i am no character of a story, but the author of many fates.”

__jean ㅤ“oh… i think it improper for you to regard me in such a way… i’m only the acting grand master, and i haven’t done nearly as much for mondstadt as vennessa or varka.”

__kaeya ㅤ“oh-ho-hoh, you’re trying to flatter me, aren’t you? try dry praise like that after i’ve had a few more drinks.”

__klee ㅤ“heehee, the main character? i’m not from a picture book, you know.”

__lisa ㅤ“hmm.. don’t you think working at a library after being the akademiya’s most distinguished graduate of 200 years would speak better of desires for the opposite? sweet of you to say, though, cutie.”

__mona ㅤ“the responsibility of a main character is far more than that which comes with wealth of knowledge and birthright. yes, i think your comment is suitable, since i’m also altruistic, wise, and humble, all in a unique enough way…. don’t give me that look.”

__noelle ㅤ“how kind of you to say! but—ahem—since i’m not yet a real knight, it must be a very sad story to read.”

__razor ㅤ“razor wants to read that story! does teacher have it?”

__rosaria ㅤ“i... hmph. you should read more books, i think you’d change your mind. stop scowling at me and say something more useful.”

__sucrose ㅤ“w-what? a main character? even a narrator would have trouble trying to define me interestingly. but then, would that mean i will discover more in my research? i’m not sure but i wouldn’t mind that.”

__venti ㅤ“you’re always saying that now that you know about my past. well, if i’m not recognized as the archon, at least i have some importance to someone, hehe.”
